Many people ask us where our name comes from, or “who is Gian?” We always enjoy sharing a bit about our grandfather, Gian. He started the restaurant and Indian sweets business in 1940 in a little town called Jagraon, in the province of Punjab, India. Since then, our father has carried his name, taking over the business after our grandfather passed away. Gian’s has now been serving Abbotsford for over 20 years. Our dad is still involved in the business, lending a hand, and helping us to maintain our focus on traditional, quality Indian cuisine.
The best indian food in Abbotsford
First time visiting this restaurant. Atmosphere was bright, decor fairly modern. Looked new and clean. Food was very good with a decently priced buffet, which was replenished fairly quickly. As the Restaurant was busy. Staff were very nice and attentive. Will come back for sure.
One of the best Indian restaurants to visit when you are in Abbotsford. Excellent service, and the food is tasty, too 😃
Amazing Indian food! I tried almost everything they had and couldn't say there was anything I didn't like. It was delicious and flavorful. The paneer and chili chicken were my personal favorites!
Wowzaz. This place deserves 6 stars. The best western Indian restaurant I’ve tried in my life. You’ll have a hard time finding better taste than this one. The paneer is incredible. They serve fresh naan served to table. Just absolutely amazing. The price is also very competitive and you’ll likely feel like you’ve found a bargain after you eat here. Just do it.
Father in laws 80th birthday celebrated there. Stellar everything as usual.
It's one of our Favourite places to Dine in. We like the Separate booths for privacy. Our ratings rely on Tea, A good cup of Masala Chai is our go to. We ordered Paneer Pakoras and Fish Pakoras. It was Scrumptious
The six of us had a splendid meal at Gian's. The host was prompt and friendly. We took a while ordering from the extensive menu. In the mean time our drink order was taken and brought to us. It didn't take long before we were enjoying Goat Vindaloo, Prawn Curry, Chicken Curry, and Cheese Tomato. Several times our server came to be sure we were OK. At the end he brought some containers for the food we couldn't finish. There is so much more to try. I'll surely be back. It’s been a while, but we’re back in Abbotsford and back to an upgraded Gian’s. This time we came for the lunch buffet. DELICIOUS! The owner brought hot garlic naan to our table to dip in the curry and butter chicken we had on our loaded plates.
Solid Indian buffet. Tasty and service was great
Great buffet, loved the butter chicken and diet cokes.
Ordered fish pakora and chaat. Chaat was good but fish pakora was below average. Green chutney has lots of salt. Don t buy fish pakora from here .
Absolutely delicious food!!
Oh, dear chap, let me spin you a yarn in the proper London style about Gians, the Punjabi culinary titan in town. Its cuisine? Smashing! The buttery naans and creamy curries are pure poetry, mate. When it comes to taste, it s like having the Queens chef whip up a feast just for you if the Queen fancied spice, that is. But heres the rub: speaking with them is a bit like deciphering Shakespearean English after a pint too many. The lingo barrier can leave you scratching your noggin. And the owner? Lets just say he carries himself like hes presiding over the East India Trading Company. Proper proud, that one.
This is my go too. The flavors and quantities for the price are amazing. Nothing negative to note
Great place to have indian food
Lady who s taking order too rude dont know how to speak Food
I did uber eats order from Gians. Their butter chicken did not taste good, it was too sweet. Lasooni Naans were okay but their gajrela was by far the worst. It did not taste anything. It was just like they mashed carrots and put it in the milk and served it. Please take a look in your quality. Thanks
They packed half cooked nanns. Never seeing such a decline in food quality. kids are hungry, not even finished half a piece of nann each. Worst experience over, Never again.
So delicious and great prices and service also.
I think they should have a side of rice that is just plain rice that costs a bit less. But this joint is beautiful and fun and really great people inside.
Came in Friday night with my wife for dinner and ordered the chicken pakora for the appetizer. We tried one piece and it was super raw. I cut open another 3 pieces and they were all raw. I let the server know and she took it away. We didn t get an apology from anyone or an offer for something different. It was absolutely ridiculous and I ve been coming to this restaurant for the last 20 years . For us to not be appreciated and being treated this way was just wrong. We are now sick ever since that night and it s pathetic to see that they could ve killed someone with raw chicken and they can t even own up to it. Won t be coming here again and do not recommend anyone to go unless you would like to get sick.
Excellent Indian food Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian and vegan options! Parking: Lots of parking but limited parking spots Kid-friendliness: Kids are welcome here! Wheelchair accessibility: Limited number of parking spots
Very bad experience, got pieces of glass in butter chicken and pink raw fish pakora . No discount or anything was given after showing them the evidence . Such a terrible and dangerous meal . Felt very embarrassed in front of family friends who came to visit us from Toronto and we took them here
Butterchicken is to die for
Loved the atmosphere and staff was amazing and professional. 10/10
0 for appetizers Manchurian were so hard, noodles were soggy and paneer tikka was average. Main course was good. We ordered chicken korma(I have tasted better than this), paneer bhurji was 9/10, kofta 5.5/10(too hard) I wont recommend anyone ordering appetizers as they were below average. Main course is good Server was very nice young lady! Won t go back to eat again!!
Perfect Indian restaurant. Thank you
Hi Few days back I went at gians for dinner with my friends. We inquired if we could place an order on mobile they refused for the same, We had to dine in but being in rush I called for pre order, That didnt happen. Anyhow we popped in and ordred the food. The server was a lady and a girl working. The lady was so rude, knowing that we were in rush still she kept on wasting our time and her as well, and then food took 35 mins to walk through the table. If the lady is part of the management or the owners please try and understand the value of others time. And if the customer is punjabi Dont struggle with English. It is never graceful when customer communicates in punjabi and the server is running through her English. Although she might have came to canada 20 30 years back this doesnt mean we would change our culture. I work in customer service as well, We never leave customers on their own after taking the order. Please consider it. Atleast we should try building customers not loosing. Focus on Quality guys not on Quantity. Please and thankyou. Sat shri akal
The food was very tasty and there was a decent variety but there seems to be only vegetarian and chicken dishes. Nevertheless good food and a nice place to visit
Im extremely disappointed with the service we received during our recent visit few days back. My fiancé, friend, and I were expecting a pleasant experience. Unfortunately, our encounter with our server, JASLEEN, left a sour taste. When we inquired about the price of a particular menu item, Jasleen responded with a curt check the menu. This dismissive and unhelpful attitude was not only unprofessional but also disrespectful. As paying customers, we expected a basic level of courtesy and assistance, especially when seeking information about the menu. I hope management takes our feedback seriously and takes necessary steps to improve the service quality. Providing friendly and attentive service is crucial, especially in the hospitality industry. We hope to see improvements on our next visit, but at last visit, we left with a negative impression.
Always good food ready on time and great portion sizes. I would say one of the best Indian restaurants to eat at in the lower mainland
Awesome experience! Buffet food is great, the staff are very helpful and the atmosphere is so cosy. I had a great time. Food
Best place in abby
Enjoyed a lunch buffet. They had a good spread of veg and non veg. Good naans.
Excellent food both from menu and buffet. Super busy on a Sunday afternoon but the experience was good. Booths are comfortable and relaxing if with a group.
The food was awesome, and the waitress was awesome, thanks, Mushkaan.
Roti, naan and chicken Tikka were really good. We ordered chili paneer but it didnt taste like it, but was good. Prawns Curry had too much ginger and veg momos were not eatable and we returned it. The waiting staff is extremely friendly, it would be a great place if the food taste is better.
Buffet had very limited items and seemed like an extension of a thali menu. Otherwise good quality food.
Good food , loved their Chicken Tikka and Yellow Dal Tadka !
Maybe its good option for high class . But not for simple living families. No doubt good food clean.
Terrible place. Poor quality food. Manager extremely rude and racist. Definitely not a place to be. Food
A mainstay for Abbotsford, great choice of buffet now theyve doubled sided the buffet stand. (Been a while since I last went)
Great food. Vegetarian options: Mix veg, Food : 5/5 |
Too slow for take outs . Expect min 10-15 minute delay from promised time
We were in Abbotsford last weekend and wanted to snack on something Indian. We were plesantly surprised by this place. Great ambiance, music and service. We ordered veg. I loved everything I ate. The soya champ curry and the chilly paneer. What a great find! This place has my heart. I am definitely coming back again. :)
Worst food i ever had in Abbotsford, the naan were uncooked as they were bought from store and reheated. I really want them to make fresh or close this location.
Never experienced such a bad naan, it was frozen naan put in a oven. Would never order or order anything back.
good place to visit with family
Good S.Asian buffet. Food is hot, good flavour. Good value for the price. Often stop here for lunch on my way through Abbotsford. Deffinitly reccomend eating here.
Best Indian food! My definite go to!
The food is very delicious here and there service is also very fast moreover you can enjoy the atmosphere here.
Amazing food and prices for buffet
Sent uncooked food. This has happened second time in a row. Food was literally floating in oil. And potatoes were just raw.
The food is absolutely amazing. One of the very few Indian restaurants that serves authentic Roti (not Naan). Server Rahul was very active with basically all the table. We felt welcome. We asked for super hot food and trust me it was per my expectations if not more. Overall, I will be back for more food. Thank you kitchen staff and Rahul the food and service was amazing hence you guys deserve 5 stars.
Gyans Restaurant in Abbotsford, BC, is a culinary delight offering exceptional Indian cuisine, impeccable service, and a welcoming atmosphere. The food is expertly crafted, showcasing rich flavors that tantalize the taste buds. The staff are attentive and professional, ensuring every guest feels valued. What sets Gyans apart is its humble ambiance, making diners feel like part of the family. For a memorable dining experience filled with great food, good service, and humble staff, Gyans Restaurant is a must-visit destination in Abbotsford.
First time trying Indian food years ago was here at the buffet. Its great food, my go to Indian restaurant for takeout as well.
Best Indian cuisine in Abbotsford
This is my favourite take out place in Abbotsford. The food is never greasy and the flavour is spot on. My favourite is the Shahi Paneer and I recently tried and enjoyed the coconut prawn curry. The samosas and garlic naan are also excellent. Vegetarian options: Try the shahi paneer! Dietary restrictions: Lots of veggie options available
What a bunch of scammers. The short man with the grey hair really lacks customer service, hes super rude to women and acts like hes GOD.
Gians always delights with friendly staff, fabulous food, consistent quality and affordable prices. Highly recommend for any and every Indian food occasion.
DO NOT USE THE GOOGLE MAPS WEBSITE LINK. It is not the restaurants website, and it WILL take your online payment. I have now paid for my meal two times and had to cancel my credit card, because the restaurant manager informed me that somebody hacked the link and that is not actually their website. They have known this is happening for two days now. He refused to reimburse me whatsoever, and seemed to not care about the issue, his point of view being well thats not our website.
We ordered from here tonight and the food had absolutely no flavour o spices. Lack even salt and pepper. Iam so disappointed In this place. I can t believe they pass this off as Indian food. Would not recommend this place to anyone
The best Indian restaurant in the lower mainland. My favourite restaurant.
Great Indian Cuisine,
I liked there food as its fresh and authentic
Friendly staff. Great assortment on the buffet. Very tasty foods!
Buffet is always great, best butter chicken and goat curry in town!! The only negative is the price for kids, it s a bit ridiculous to pay that much to bring my kids out for lunch. Food
Vegetarian options: Kadai paneer and chicken curry it was very gud with butter nana Food
Extremely hard to put less than five stars, so I dont. Food : 5/5
We were surprised by the welcome we received from Shiv as we entered then came the top notch service from Jasleen. Their recommendation for the food and drinks was great. We enjoyed our food and left very satisfied. Well definitely go back.
Food was amazing! Quite place and the prices are great. I love spice and this place had amazing flavors.
There s always nails in my food
This is one of the amazing restaurants to visit and definitely rest assure to fall in love with the cuisine. Vegetarian options: Absolutely well cateres for
Hi guys , I went with my family for dinner today , food was okay, but one thing, it s not fair about their understanding difference between Indian and caucasian customer, our spoon was simple and opened , whoever sitting front of us as same time their spoon was covered with napkin papers, but our price was same , why this big difference between two communities, Respect all as a human .
Hi guys , I always visit in this Restaurant from Edmonton to BC , today I went with my family for dinner ,food was okay, but one thing, it s not fair about their understanding difference between Indian and caucasian customer, our spoon was simple and opened with plates whoever sitting front of us as same time their spoon was covered with napkin papers, but our price was same , why this big difference between two communities, Respect all as a human ., for sure as i feel so bad today, i will never visit in this location any more .
i ordered fish i got plastic in my food
We were actually going to the Mandarin Garden right beside this place but they were closed. Gians was open so we decided to give it a shot as we were hungry and on the way back to Vancouver. We had the buffet lunch and boy did we get our moneys worth. The food was flavorful, hot and fresh. Lots of choices of dishes. Best part was not greasy at all. If we are out in Abbotsford again Ill make sure to stop in again.
The food was very fresh and tasty for a buffet could of had more of a selection for the price
Great food, buffet is really nice selection. I come from Langley and its worth the drive
Best place to eat! Amazing food!
Good Indian food, served by friendly waitresses! We enjoyed a tasty meal at Gians. We were there early on a Sunday evening so the restaurant wasnt very full, but it started to fill up as we were leaving, so Id recommend reserving a table if you want to guarantee space .
We always make a point to stop in at Gians whenever we are in Abbotsford. Amazing food at a very reasonable price. Staff are always friendly and speedy with their service. Highly recommended.
I went for lunch and tried their buffet. Food was hot and tasted good.
Not many varieties on buffet food. Quality not up to the mark
We ordered kadhai paneer, butter naans, Butter chicken, Basmati rice and hot gulab jamuns.. Everything was amazing Server Sunny was very kind.. 10/10
Food is awesome, but I have been here few times. I wish the person taking payment (dont know whether he is owner or manager ) be friendly. I think he judge the customer with there clothes and status. Anyway food is good Food : 5/5
I ordered some takeout from here and it smelled delicious, but as I was dishing it up at home I found a black hair in one of the dishes. I got rid of the hair and as we were so hungry I carried on dishing it up. Upon eating the food I discovered another long black hair in the food in my mouth. It was disgusting pulling the hair out my mouth and I couldn t eat any more so we threw it all in the garbage then went somewhere else. Their hygiene standards have really dropped, this place used to be so good.
Delicious food! The best Indian cuisine in Abbotsford. The Buffet is awesome Food
Had the Buffet today for lunch. Food was hot, fresh and really tasty.
Both food and customer service were amazing. Their stuffed naan s are really good. MUST TRY!!!!
Great service, great food. Love the samosas here. If youve never been here before, its definitely worth going.
The best Indian food Ive ever had, hands down. Gluten free naan available and lots of veggie options. We eat here every chance we get! Dietary restrictions: Lots of gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options.
Always classy service. Saying that Gians probably has the best quality lunch buffet around doesnt do them enough justice. They are simply excellent, and while I have come to expect that, they still surpass my expectations often. Parking: During lunch, parking can be difficult, but so far I have always managed.
I ordered 2 plates spring rolls and honestly it was so bad. It was so oily and has so little filling inside it.
Gians is one of the best restaurants in Abbotsford, if you like this type of cuisine its a must have.. if you dont like this type of cuisine, grow up and try it! Great food everytime!
Gian s was fantastic as it always is!! Amazing food and friendly staff!
Best Food in Town!! Love this place!! So SO GOOD
Delicious
Poor slow service had to wait for almost an hour for an order repeat
Had a great meal here with a friend the other day I would recommend to anyone looking for good Indian food in Abbotsford Food : 5/5
Adds preservatives in vegetables. Give low quantities but charge high, stay away to avoid man made preservatives Dietary restrictions: Adds preservatives in vegetables. Give low quantities but charge high, stay away to avoid man made preservatives
Liked the taste of the food, and the server Jasleen was very courteous. Only concern was when we asked for onions on the side, I was not told that those are chargeable. I also missed asking. However good overall experience and Food was awesome.
Vegetarian options: Daal makhni Food
Food and service are always amazing. (but it is disappointing that they dont serve the Tandoori chicken in a sizzling plate anymore)
Ordered Malai Kabob, Prawn Chilli and Lamb Korma. Asked for spicy and all they did was chop green chillies on top which apparantly made it hard to consume. Had to throw most of the food out. Such a waste of time and money. Cant say about taste since hardly ate anything. Too high in prices given the quantity. Wont be ordering again.
Best Indian food Ive ever had. Honest. So delicious
We ordered dal makhani and karahi paneer and both tasted superb . Paneer especially was very soft, also we asked them not to put too much butter or cream in dal makhani so that way one can really taste the dal .
Buffet was decent
This place is amazing... Especially their lunch buffet. Its a rotating selection, but Friday is my favorite because all my go-to dishes are on full display. Best butter chicken I have had, Chili Chicken dry is delicious, and so is their paneer... They make a Greek and Caesar salad good enough to make the European restaurants jealous...And for dessert, I always have fresh fruit and creamed fruit salad... And yes its all part of the Friday buffet. Super nice owners, beautiful roomy booths and giant screen tvs playing Bollywood music... Whats not to love? Highly recommended
Great place. We didnt do the buffet but the food from the menu was delish. Food
They have the best Paneer tikka !!!! .....only if they could work on their Dal Makhni (which tasted so bad that I didnt even eat it) Food : 4/5
Food was great and service was on par. Nice and clean establishment!
Best butter chicken that Ive ever had! They also have gluten free roti which is similar to naan, and really yummy! Their service has been disappointing on multiple occasions. On one more memorable occasion our table was forgotten about after we ordered (at 50% full), and another night we were seated and completely ignored while we watched all the tables around us receive service, even ones seated after. I wish I remembered the names of the wait staff who were great, because this isnt always our experience, however when bad service happens more often than not, its memorable. I highly recommend their food, but either for their buffet or takeout. Food: 6/5 Service 2/5
Went for dinner today with a friend. The food was delicious as always. Our server Sunny was also very helpful and got everything we wanted! He was not hovering around us or interrupting us as we had dinner. Super awesome service! Keep up the great work Sunny! Food
Too much oil in lamb curry and too much salt in Afghani tikka. Even requested for less oil but no benefit at all.
Good
Introduced by friends and it was AMAZING. We will be back next time were in Abbotsford.
Only good thing is Shai paneer rest
Been going here for about 10-15 years, even when i moved out of town for 5 years i would come in town and spend 500$ and freeze it. The best option for Indian Food in Abbotsford
I could only see two servers serving the whole restaurant. Even tho there wasn t much rush but their service was very slow, had to wait a lot even for basic orders. Wait would ve been worth it if the taste was good enough but it was very basic
Gians is a Indian buffet with consistent food and excellent service. Over the years, Ive never had a bad experience. On my most recent visit, my brother and I were delighted to find they had a lunch buffet with a sleeve of any of their draft beers for $23.00. Considering they had top-notch beers on tap, that was a good deal. I had Stella, which paired very well with all curries. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience. Vegetarian options: Indian restaurant, so obviously, they had vegetarian options.
This is our favorite Indian restaurant. Their food is delicious. We tried many Indian restaurants but we havent found one to have the same delicious dishes like this one. Doesnt matter what dish youll chose because everything is so flavourful and tasty.
We normally go to the sweets location of Gians, (I think family chain), today we decided to check out the restaurant, and we overall loved the food, service was great, the staff was nice, its a great place, clean and friendly, highly recommend
Very tasty buffet
Feeling ripped off. Ordered takeout today ordering 4 butter chickens and some other dishes so we could freeze the extras for future easy dinners. They gave us our 4 butter chickens in a metal tray. I thought it didn t look like 4 servings worth so I used some empty white plastic dishes the exact same as they use for the other dishes we ordered and it barely filled 3 dishes. So I paid for 4 and got 3. Not really happy about that and feel ripped off. The food is amazing, but I really don t like paying for something and not get it.
Great lunch buffet.
I went here for my birthday and I sat at a table for 20 minutes with no water and no food menu I would give a 0 star if possible and the staff was not nice please don t waste your time
Try their malai champ..Soo good!!
Clean and good
One of the best Punjabi eating joint - staff is good , spacious and comfortable , buffet is best choice
Always the destination for Indian lunch buffet from 11:30-2 pm which they now offer 7 days a week! They are award winning and most popular restaurant in Abbotsford for Indian food with a vegetarian/ sweet shop location as well as an express now open in aldergove and a food truck for catering. Open for dinner after 4 and can pre-order takeout when they are open with a full menu with many delicious items from appetizers to all traditional dishes. Available on Skip the dishes and door dash delivery. Nann bread is a staple addition to any dinner order especially with garlic, with the butter chicken being the most famous item ordered as its a game changer with using tandoori chicken in the recipe. Enjoy bringing my son who now requests butter chicken as a meal option, thank you
Their goat curry is amazing
Food was excellent. Server seemed distracted and didnt have time to explain the menu to us. Food
I found a hair in my laddoo. It was in the middle of the laddoo. You mailbox is full.
Amazing food. I mean Amazing. Very attentive serving staff. The restaurant is simply just booths and nothing fancy but still decent. We were a party of 4 and ordered lots and bill was reasonable
Meh. Just okay. Not great at anything. Poor service.
I use to eat here but last night food was horrible. worst food in lower mainland.
Great setup ideal location tasty food
Good buffet
Good food and very friendly staff. Once allowed us for a buffet when we were a little late. Loved all the entrees. Good food at a good price.
Good food, excellent service, fast and so kind the waitress!
Our group of 4 really loved the food here at Gians, they offered a wide range if vegetarian dishes at the buffet too. Will return for sure. Dietary restrictions: We loved the vegan options
Best buffet in town, amazing food. Always fantastic service!
We ordered dal tadka and mix veg korma . Not too many people order dal tadka but try once guys ,the best in veg options. They improve quantity. Best food in town . Vegetarian options: Try dal tadka, best in world . Believe me
I came here with my parents after reading first few good reviews about good service but I didn t get good one. Even we were talking to server nicely but she was literally like pissed with something and didn t even bothered to greet us or talk nicely. She was like we were a burden over there:(
Vegetarian options: Pizza Food
Visited at 6:20 pm with my family. Upon entering, the reception server mentioned they couldnt serve due to the restaurant being busy, although over 70% of tables appeared unoccupied. When we questioned this, the server cited a lack of staff and suggested we wait without offering a seat. The overall impression was that the server seemed unenthusiastic about their work. If zero stars were an option, I would have chosen that.
Their buffet is pretty good, the food was delicious we were given fresh and hot breads, the service was fast, we thoroughly enjoyed the food, we went there on our friends recommendation as we were first time visiting abbortsford but it didn t disappoint us plus our 3 year old also loved the food which she usually doesn t
Foods always good the owner is always so honorable the whole place is just worth it and besides the food is so darn good
I had the chicken Lababdar along with Lassoni Naan . It was so yummmm. Loved it. Great Staff and yummy good with good environment. The Stella pitcher too was great for 20$
Good food and good service. The location is just by the highway, so you can grab a meal without having to go too far off your route. The have buffets everyday that lasts up until 2pm. After that, you can order from a menu as normal. They also have a huge selection of alcoholic beverages. All in all, a good place to eat thats ready to surprise you.
