We've been on a quest to try every restaurant in Airdrie and review them, 1861 was one of the few left on our list. Unfortunately we will not be going or recommending to anyone after we have openly seen one of their staff being racist proudly on Facebook. Laughing and encouraging racism is just as bad as spewing it yourself. This is embarassing and I'm glad we saw this before spending money here.
I went there alone while waiting for my girlfriend. I received nasty stares from both servers, didn’t even greet me appropriately. Took 12mins to come back and get my order even though it was a slow Wednesday night. Moscow mule was disappointing, I thought I could save it with lime but it was still bad. Only thing that was good was hot wings. Servers were unapproachable and keeps giving me some nasty stares.
I always get a steak sandwich at pubs & this one was honestly the best I have ever had. It was the most tender meat and full of flavor. The chef was also super friendly and came out and gave me a chicken wing to try with his new sauce that was unreal. Our server, Andrea, was really helpful and answered all our questions. She was personable and a on the ball! I will certainly be back next time I am in the area.
Stopped by on our way home from Banff. The food was so burnt and over cooked I couldn’t even chew the steak. Would not recommend. I had to explain how to split the bill 3 times
The house beer was fresh and crisp, paired perfectly with the nachos that were very good! It's a great little spot to hang out and have a drink or two. Not too noisy, but still lively. Very attentive service with very friendly vibes.
Brick oven pizza is a flatbread, don’t recommend. First experience was in person and the server was slow food was ok, received Uber eats order husbands meal was ok, mine was not for how it was presented in the menu.
So, this was a tough one to review. Pro... A neighborhood style bar... less than 5 minutes from my house... so if you are in the neighborhood, try it. Very friendly service Cons... Very average pub style food... but hey it's a pub beside a gas station... what do you want? The feel of the bar is... well a bar beside a gas station. Not cozy, not comfy and definitely not lively. So... go here if you are looking for a watering hole in your neighborhood Skip if you want a good meal, or good atmosphere.
Visited 1861 for the first time tonight. Greeted immediately by the friendly and bubbly personality of Tammy. I wavered between the 1861 Burger and the Eastside Burger. I went with the Eastside burger and it was awesome! I recommend adding cheese as it's only a $2 add and they put 2 slices of real cheddar on it. Fresh and crisp veg, the patty was juicy and more than covers the surface area and the potato bun was soft but not so soft that it couldn't support the weight of this behemoth. The fries were golden, crispy and well seasoned. My wife had the Vegetarian Flatbread and loved it. Lots of fresh veg on it but baked to perfection so it didn't sog up at all. Whilst spying on other tables, we saw the 1861 Burger, Chicken Tenders, Chicken Club, Fish & Chips and Fettuccine come out and they ALL looked amazing. Prices are more than fair, especially when you see what you're getting for it. My burger was only $15+$2. Decor is simple but unique using repurposed casks for tables. The place is clean and well maintained. Well done 1861....we look forward to coming back!

Pub food with largish menu. All of the dishes we ordered were very good, tasted fresh out of the oven and I was pleasantly surprised because its a little bit unassuming from the outside.

For just picking a random location, I found it felt like a small-town bar with an amazing crew. The food was quick, fresh, and absolutely delightful.
Typical dive bar with a relaxed environment and all the amenities you would expect, such as pool and VLTs. Clean bar and facilities, a food selection of reasonably priced food, and friendly/helpful staff.

The house select beer is crisp - Great pairing at a fantastic price any night with the daily special. The real gem is the artisan side salad. It is so good and filling, youll forget about ever wanting fries again.

The food was average at best and I can t remember when I had such terrible service. We had to almost beg to get our drinks refilled. I understand if they were busy but it was dead in there. The waitress put the plate right on top of my glasses and said, I don t know who s food this is , and then walked away. Won t be going back!!
Very nice place. But it could do with some sound deadening in the ceiling. But great karaoke. And they have many good singers. It makes it a real fun night. Wheelchair accessibility: Not any stairs or large obstacles. The only problem is no Handicapped parking really close. But very doable

We went here for our friends birthday, We all ordered food, the chicken burger was bland and tasteless, our beef burgers seemed like ordinary frozen burgers you can buy at a supermarket, the wings were ok.. a little over cooked, onion rings were tasteless as well but the fries were really good.
One of my favorite bars in town. From live music to karaokee this bar has it all. The food is fresh and consistent and the music is always good. The fish pakora was really tasty.

Came in to have a drink and place a large takeout order. Everything was fantastic! Nachos, mozzarella sticks, burger, beef dip, ceaser salad. Very good. Teriyaki chicken bowl wasnt the best but very filling. Overall very pleased! We will be back.

Update: main chef who knew gluten free left, they no longer have anything Celiac safe. Just ate here tonight, had the gluten free chicken tenders with fries. It was delicious! And I felt very safe eating there since they have a dedicated fryer and the chef is knowledgeable about celiac (his daughter is celiac) Dietary restrictions: Celiac
My friends and I recently tried out this local restaurant. The food is amazing, the service was very efficient. Pool table, outside patio, TVs all around for sports, not much more you can ask for. Highly recommended

This local pub is an amazing place to go for the food and atmosphere. The service is awesome and everyone is really friendly. I recommend the 1861 burger as it has been my dream burger, it is the burger I imagine Marshal Erikson dreamt of. Their other food is really good too like their home salad, the flavours play so nicely with eachother from sweet and creamy to a little earthy it is amazing. I could go on about the other foods Ive tried as well. Also well priced for 3 to 4 people we paid 50 dollars for all of us to have really well sized meals. One of my favourite places to eat for sure!
Staff work extra hard and really are attentive to you! Music is excellent! Somewhere to hang out that I actually enjoy music. People here are super friendly and food is good and fast. Nice to see all the nice rides drive by.
My husband and I kicked off our holidays this year by trying this local to us pub. We are not drinkers, but were not made uncomfortable for ordering non - alchoholic drinks. My steak sandwich was done to perfection and my burger fan husband, gave his a stamp of approval. The french fries need mention because they were so fresh and good. I love the fact there are daily special which are listed on the menu, so a person knows when to go back for their favorites. We will return!

Been here a couple of times. It had a bit of a dive bar look from the outside. Inside it has an inviting neighborhood pub atmosphere. If I lived on thst side of the city it would be my local watering hole. Theres also a patio, fo those summer drinks! The food is better good. Big portions, fair prices, everything g came out in a timely manner. All in all its always a casual, friendly experience when I go. If you want somewhere new to try in Airdrie to catch a game, some grub, and a cold one this is a good spot
17 of us went for dinner, quick service, delicious food, (not one complaint and we re a fussy bunch) we will definitely be back

Good food, staff is sarcastic and sassy in all the best ways. They make dining there very enjoyable and warm. This city needs more places like this. Real humans working rather than franchise robot-like trained staff. Ill keep coming back for that. Huge thanks for making each experience pleasant and enjoyable.

Food was great and came in big sizes. Definitely worth the price. The poutine was delicious and fries are fresh and crispy. Staff was friendly and welcoming will be going again.
Limited menu, frozen french fries and a very spartan atmosphere made our experience here average at best. Friendly staff but no deals on drinking here.

Such a pleasant first visit! We live in the area and might bike here next time. Food was so good, quality, tidy food and AFFORDABLE. Friendly and attentive, informative and friendly service. I wish I took a picture once our food came because it was BEAUTIFUL, (they had micro greens!) Talented chef, Menu is simple for now but they said they plan on expanding the menu in the future. Highly recommend the steak sandwich. And the buffalo chicken wrap (when available, it was a special item) We definitely will be returning.
Amazing food mixed with Awesome service! The 1861 burger is probably the best burger Ive ate, the bacon jam is to die for. Music is great also, sports on the tvs. I will 100% be returning

The service was not the best. Only a few people in the place and waitress only came over twice the entire time we were here. The food was not very good either. The soup was gritty and flavourless. Doesnt even compare to other local airdrie pubs
Their 1861 burger is really, really good and cant complain about draught beer prices that are actually normal and affordable.
Went for the grand opening and atmosphere was amazing! Food was delicious staff was friendly and overall had a good time. I Will definitely be going back.
Server was amazing....food was good. TOO MANY FLIES. Always had 1 hand on my burger and 1 hand was swatting flies. No thanks. Wont be back.
Great new pub/bistro, had a late lunch for 2 daughters and myself. Food portions huge, more than enough even if you re really hungry. Server was excellent. Not too pricey. Yorkies served on a board, 5 minis, great price. Some growing pains, but all in all a good experience

Compared to a few weeks ago this place has gone down hill fast. The staff a trying to help too many people. As a result orders get missed meals take forever to come. If you want your bussiness to survive get more staff and focus on running the place instead of drinking with all your buddies
One of the best Gluten free places to eat we have come across. We were astonished and in disbelief that the GF Chicken fingers and GF Pulled Pork grilled cheese that we ordered was.

This is my second time here. The first was a good experience. This however was not very good. The service was good but the food was very slow in coming and when we got it it minus the pulled pork that the sandwich was supposed to have. I could understand this if they offered a grilled cheese sandwich but there is no such item on the menu. It really looked like they were under staffed for a Friday evening.
New place so take with grain of salt, but the inside feels cold, like its a old hanger with some tables in it. Great food and service tho..
I was so excited to have a place close to home but I agree with other posters. The atmosphere needs work. It is very empty, cold and unwelcoming. During our visit we only tried the fries and a beer. They were good. The waitres was very curt. Very disappointed. I hope they improve the inside.
the food is all frozen, nothing is fresh, you can find good beer anywhere, go someplace the owners dont sit around all day drinking.
Went for 1st time on a Tuesday night, Fantastic service from new waitress, her 1st night also. Great Nachos and nice selection of cold beers on tap! Great little band also with some nice Colter Wall/Tyler Childers/Whiskey Myers type music. Really enjoyed it, will definitely be back.
Its so nice to have a local pub that is down to earth. Nothing fancy by any stretch but the service is good and the food is awesome. Drink prices are reasonable. Bonus... Within walking distance of home. Try the 1861 Burger! Absolutely great! Where else can you go to get a really good steak sandwich and a beer on Thursday night for $15??
Love the 1861 beer, but $8 for 4 samosas is just absurd. Should maybe mention the lackluster amount on the specials board
Wings were overdone and tough to bite/chew. $10 side of fries was extremely small serving for cost. Pulled pork sliders were tough to chew and dry. I had take out so maybe it s a nice place to have a couple drinks but I d stay away from the food menu.
