I have been eating here for a few years and you he food was always good but unfortunately this location has gone downhill with the new management.. the food quality is hit or miss .. the people who work there are very nice but the cleanliness of the restaurant is not as it was either not sure if I will return as there are other locations..but you never know

I ordered fish and chips through skip, the fish was SOOO fried the batter was like rock hard. I basically picked away all the batter and just ate the fish alone and the chips.

So the problem isn t the food or quality of it. It s the guy handling it. Problem number 1: he put all of the cornballs into a paper bag. STRAIGHT OUT OF HOT OIL INTO A PAPER BAG. NO BOX. NO paper towel on the bottom to absorb the oil. what does he think happens to paper bags when they get wet? The bottom gives out. Problem number 2: he dropped the food on the floor. And had I not looked up it would have gone into my bag. He looked at me. Realized I was watching him. Paused for few seconds then proceeded to throw out the food that was on the floor. Why? There are ton of boxes. I order from here all the time. I normally have the lady working. Today it was the man. I didn t think much of it. Now for people being unaware and simply lifting their bag they could loose all of the food and you better believe he wouldn t just replace it for free. Sad thing is there is no email to contact anyone about this. So just be observant when he s working.

Store looked dirty, the person at the counter taking my order was picking his ear for a few minutes as I decided what to order and then handled my food without washing his hands. I have been a customer of Chicken on the Way for over 35 years. I was very happy when a location was opened in Airdrie. I love Chicken on the Way, I consider it to be one of the best fired chicken places that I have ever visited, definitely the best value in Airdrie and Calgary, however..... On Tuesday September 3, right at noon, I took a friend for his first experience and he will never try it again. And, frankly, I will probably never bother going back to this location. We took our meals to go as, obviously, there is no dine in option. We drove to Nose Creek Park and sat down to eat. So we were only 5-10 minutes from getting our meals to the time we started eating. The fries were glistening with oil and were extremely soggy. For the first time ever at COTW, I was not even tempted to finish them, there were just gross. When I saw my friend breaking apart his fritter I saw oil dripping off his fingers and mine was the same. It is obvious that the fryers were not up to temperature and hence the excess oil. Now, for the really sad part. I had told him about the great value and good sized chicken pieces, well was I proven wrong. The drumsticks were barely bigger than drumettes, the wing he had was tiny, the breasts were reasonable but not up to the norm and overall, the meals were just not up to the standard of COTW. I have had the occasional small piece in the past, but it was always made up for with an extra piece. I have had bigger drumsticks at KFC! This is my third experience since the management change, the previous 2 left me slightly disappointed, this one left me looking for a new chicken place. And yes, I did attempt to talk to the location directly. That afternoon I was too busy to go back so I went to stop in at 8:40 and the open sign was off and the store appeared closed, so the opportunity to speak with them was lost, their fault not mine, as they shut down at least 20 minutes early. (their door sign says open until 9) If you want to service in this competitive market you need friendly and personable staff AND high quality product or you will drive away even your loyal customers.

I ordered a 12 piece but it took less than a minute?the chicken was in the box under a heat lamp,the new owner told me that he had just made it,so I took him at his word.I live out of town so we did not eat the chicken for about 3 hours,later when I opened the box all the chicken was all glumed together and very greasey.we have had chicken from this location many times and always reheated it and it was very good,but I guess this time under a ownerwas a poor ,greasy excuse for chicken.when I phoned the owner the next day ,he said that there was not anything he could do,in fact he blamed me for waiting so long to eat.Well he just lost my business and in my humble opinion give this place a pass!!

The chicken is ok. Corn fritters are good but the fries and gravy were disgusting. Fries were so soggy , greasy and undercooked that none of us ate them. And the gravy was running like water and no flavour. And expensive Will not be going back.

I think there is new management? I ordered a 12 piece meal tonight and there was SIX wings and there wasn t one drumstick AND there was a black hair cooked into our chicken. The box was taped shut with the hair right on top cooked into the skin so it wasn t from us. The food is very different so I assume new owners who are cheaper. The fries are a lot more greasy and the chicken and serving sizes are very different. So disappointing because my family liked this place but the new changes just make it gross and not worth the money.

This was my first time here, and based on the 4.1-star reviews and reasonable prices, I decided to give it a try. However, when I opened my meal, I immediately thought, No way! It looked greasy and dry, far from appetizing. The taste was even worse I wanted to vomit. The fish had too much batter, was overcooked, and slightly burnt. The chicken was tiny, about the size of my pinky finger, and also burnt. Never again.

This was my first visit and I was quite impressed with the service (very friendly!), pricing and the food. Apparently they dont keep food under heat lamps to keep warm, they cook it fresh when you order. I had the 3 piece bonus offer (I think thats what its called). The only concern I would have if I were sharing this is that the third piece is like half of a wing (the drumette part) and not what Id call a full piece - I have heard others comment on this as well, so just a suggestion to the owners/managers - be transparent about what you classify as a piece of chicken. Most people will assume its the same as other chicken places, so best to be clear if you classify a drumette (half a wing) as an entire piece to avoid confusion and disappointment. Have said that, the chicken was delicious, fries are fresh/homemade and their potato salad tastes like home. Signs say that its under new ownership, but this being my first visit, I have nothing to compare it to I will be back for sure, but will watch out for serving sizes!

I went in and ordered an eight piece for pickup and when I got out to my truck and checked Raj gave me two Wing drums for legs and then two wings that didnt even equivalate to an ounce of meat a piece. $25 for eight pieces of chicken and a few fritters and I got the equivalent of maybe five pieces of chicken. Chicken on the way is my favorite chicken but I assure you I will never go back to this location. If he tried to charge me three or four dollars for one of those wings I would have refused them if I had seen them before taking the food. Having a long road trip home I couldnt have been bothered to turn back and thought I just say that this is the worst Chicken on the way in all of the Calgary and Calgary area. Beware.

We ve ordered a big group order from this place twice and both times it s been absolutely disgusting. Delivery was also late. Fries are soggy, brown and taste like old oil, chicken is filled with old oil and also tastes like it s been refried a few times. This place is not safe to eat at

Used to order from Kensington in Calgary. Been a few times to Airdrie, order was wrong and the chicken and chicken strips were hard as rocks and burnt. No sauces were offered. The staff were too busy talking to each other to get the order right. Will not be back.

Edited to add the photo asked by the owner as he said my statements are incorrect: The day we ordered, March 20 (as we always did through food ordering app), only combos of 3 pieces of strips were in the menu, no individual pieces. As you can see in the receipt, it clearly states 2x 3pcs for $21.00. This validates my review below that we paid $10.50 for each 3pc combo. My original photo shows those 3 pieces. The other combo was not delivered, so we lost $10.50 on that order. (Food app did not reimburse this). I looked at the menus on the app today, and now it is possible to order by the piece for 2.85 each. But not the day of my purchase. Apart from the price paid, i stand by my review that the size of 3x strips for $10.50 was dissapointing. This is my original review: I am so disappointed. COTW has been our go to for years since they opened in Airdrie. Until tonight. I understand they have to increase prices, but the portions got reduced (size of the strip). Just early this year, we used to get 5 good size strips for less than 11 dollars and they would always throw extra pieces at no cost. Now, we paid 10.50 for 3 pieces which were so dissapointed in size. And you cant order by the piece now but in groups of 3... They also forgot one of the combos and my sons chicken pieces looked like they were overcooked or reheated. Its so sad as i used to always recommend this place. Always a treat when we go to Calgary

I order from here on skipthedishes very often and when I went inside for the first time it was amazing. Their chicken is soo good and crispy and their fries are nice too. Theyre squishy fries so if you prefer crispy maybe pass on them. The gravy is delicious as well and the corn fritters are to die for. My favorite item is actually the fish and chips, the pieces of fish are very large and crispy and taste delicious.

Upon further looking at the food when I got home Im disappointed in the new ownership. All 5 strips I got are equivalent of 1 and a half of the strips before at ANY other location. They gave the same amount of fries which was good. The fact you have to order every dip as extra even when ordering strips is crazy. This location is nothing like the chicken on the way franchise. Ive been to chicken on the way for past 14 years at various locations and this just isnt it.

We went here often for the fair prices and really good portions of chicken strips and fries... those days look to be ended after what we saw last night. Our strips (3-piece) were the size of maybe 1 from the previous regime... and the price has gone up quite a bit too, wild!!! I was looking at a receipt from 8 weeks ago and paid $15 less for way more food than what was ordered yesterday. The portion of fries was still the same but it was all about the chicken and budget friendliness of the place. :( Sorry, but this is not the Chicken on the Way I remember having grown up in Calgary. I dont see myself returning to this location (Airdrie) again, Ill spend my hard earned $ at other establishments as this one has seemingly sunk to a really new low.

I get treated to this Chicken On The Way location at my workplace once in a while and it never disappoints! The food is consistently very tasty, fresh, and piping hot! I would highly recommend to any of my family and friends! The owner is also a stand-up guy and goes above and beyond for his customers!

While normally very good we ordered last night and was very disappointing, the fries we soggy and under cooked, the gravy was thin, watery and flavorless also split about a hour after picking up our order. And the large pieces of chicken were great but the drums and wings were dry and over cooked. The fritters were delicious, as I said normally good just maybe had a bad day.

We ordered 80 pieces of chicken for a function. The order was ready on time, was hot and perfectly cooked. The staff is friendly and great to deal with. We will definitely order from here again.

Worst food I have ever experienced.. first time trying today. Everything was salty. Very oily, even the gravy was gross. Once I picked up my food you can see oil in the back was disgusting and dirty. Its like they cook everything in one fryer and never changed the oil. Overall the staff was nice but will never be coming back.

Went there today and got a snack pack, I have eaten here before but today I got home and it looked like they had heated up yesterdays leftovers and served it to me as a fresh meal. I am throwing it out. Fries were way overdone which led me to believe they had been fried several times. The chicken was overcooked. I was willing to wait and go next door to shop but when I told him I was going to do that he said it was done. I wanted to pay cash and wasnt given the option. I was there less than three minutes. Wont eat there again.

Very large portion sizes.. got the family size for $37 on Uber eats and thought that would not be enough for a family of 5. But the fries were so much, we ate only half. The fried chicken was tasty. They included a snack, I think they are corn fritters that tasted so much like (puff puff, a Nigerian snack), highlighted in the image. It was so so good. It was so tasty. Staff was friendly as well. Reduced points because of the gravy. It was bland

Friendly staff, great chicken that is not greasy, I like the fact that I can order the pieces of chicken that I prefer. The gravy is very tasty, not a fan of the corn fritters, too much dough. Fries are usually awesome but the last time were overcooked & a bit hard. Despite the one time crunchy fries I definitely will return again!

Very, Very Disappointed. We ordered from here today and the chicken was overcooked and dry. The drumsticks were extremely tiny. The fries looked like they have been reheated and soggy. Not going back at all. What a waste of hard earned money.

I ordered chicken on the way via Skip while I was parked at the pickleball courts in Airdrie... food was piping hot, I got everything I ordered and more! Portions were large. I am very satisfied with the fish and chips and chicken strips.

Before the chicken was too salty but that was 4 to 5 months ago. But now its not salty and the chicken taste really great. I will be coming back more often now.

Ordered through Skip the Dishes, never had Chicken on the Way before and wasnt expecting much. Well, it was absolutely fantastic!! The chicken was fried to perfection, the fries were crispy despite being a delivery and those corn things, yum! I got the 5 piece for $13.99, you get your moneys worth and more, I couldnt finish in one seating. Highly recommend!

No flavour tasted old not fresh even though I ordered in shop and waited for the order. Fries were the same even the gravy was old abd lumpy and gross. Staff were friendly. Family couldnt / wouldnt eat the food. Had to get rid of it. Highly dont recommend... Maybe it use to be good but standards seemed pretty poor.. Even told staff it was my first time trying Chicken on the Way... Way to the garbage....!!!

I have been told that many of the Chicken on the Way locations offer the same menu items, so what are you waiting for? There is bound to be one of these fantastic chicken restaurants near you! Their fritters are to die for and the chicken is fried to absolute perfection!

This chicken and hot sauce is the best, its what dreams are made of, hot chicken grease dreams. I like the fries and catchup, Im not on camp gravy, just not a gravy guy. I like the hungry man, makes my inner fat giggle like a school girl. Then like any fun activities, a sticky nap and maybe a shower.

We stopped in and were looking forward to a great chicken dinner like we have had in the past. What a disappointment. Reheated fries. The pieces of chicken were very small, the drumsticks were hidden under the fries and barely had a bulge at the meaty end. The gravy was very runny, and thus lacked substance and flavour. All in all it was a real letdown, wondering if ownership has changed since our last visit.

Tried this place through skip the dishes for the first time tonight. We had the family meal. Very good value for money. Plenty of it. A little on the greasy side but the chicken was nice and moist. Actually reminded me if British chippy food which was nice surprise being a Brit. Made a nice change and will use again.

Really good food and a very good price!! The fritters are awesome and make sure you get the honey. The fries are fresh cut and the chicken is very juicy, even the white meat. There is a young guy, probably in his 20s and he is my favorite cook there!

Best fast food in town!

If youre in the mood for fried chicken youll be hard pressed to do better in Airdrie. Service was absolutely top notch with great communication. Be prepared for grease as the chicken and fries are deep fried, but then thats why youre coming here in the first place. Fries are handmade style.
