Very poor service, not even a Hello when you walk in, just pure attitude .If my husband didnt want to try their doubles, I would have walked right back out.It was not worth it, not the same as before. I definitely wont return; definitely not worth it.

Their Roti is the best in Durham and Metro, but they could use a little more curry. Parking: Its in a plaza, so theres plenty of parking spots. Kid-friendliness: Good atmosphere and no cussing.

This place used to have great roti and doubles...has steadily been on the decline. I went in there today, staff was beyond rude (which they kinda always have been, but you tolerated it for the food), the prices were ridiculous ($16 for a roti and $3.75 per double) for what were very small portions, and to boot theyre debit machine wasnt working so they asked me to send an e-transfer! No thanks...the rude miserable woman behind the counter could have cared less anyways. Never going back, I suggest you go look somewhere else.

Some of the best West Indian food around. They deserve 5stars. Their Jerk is great, paratha is incredibly good. Ox tail nice!

They were soo much better when they were at Lapsley and Sheppard Ave E in Scarborough. Since Mon and Pop retired the Prices has Skyrocketed, the food quality has taken a nose dive and the portions have be reduced to a sample size. I am so disappointed in what this establishment The Roti and Pelau Shop has become. SMH

The portions are tiny and filling almost non existent. Staff can be least bothered. They microwaved the aloo pie and filled it with red hot sauce only because they dont want you to get the sauce to your preference. Terrible experience and flavorless less. SKIP THIS AT ALL COST. Food

Nah this place is disgusting

This was my second time trying this place. Everything we ordered was good. The doubles with and without pepper, the pholurie and Chicken roti. The tamarind sauce is too watery, we definitely didn t like it.

Super rude staff. Tables are always dirty.I ordered 3 doubles and an aloo pie, which they served cold and stale. Upon telling them, they microwaved the same and gave it back. Their portions are pathetic and they dnt bother to provide sauces even when they have it behind the counter. I guess they have a few loyal patrons who just hang around the place all day. There are better roti places in the area.

I ordered two aloo pies with no pepper so I could share with the kids that would be at the get together I was going to, which I shared with them on the phone. They both had a bunch of pepper! And I got doubles, thankfully no pepper, but no chutney or anything either. So plain and not that tasty.

We came and left. The portions here are a complete rip off. Charging 20$ for a quarter of a regular portion anywhere else is a scam.

Whoever is giving good reviews, they must be family or friends. The portions are for what you serve your 2 year old. I would be more satisfied eating a happy meal. Overpriced ! ! Got my money back and never going back. Do better!

Ive had their chicken roti a couple of times and quite enjoyed it with slight pepper. The roti skin is sooooo good.

Service and quality have changed since the elders are not running the shop. The portion are tiny and the prices hv increased like every where else. They are still one of the better roti shops around.

Waste of time buying doubles there..they are serving water down chutney from a bottle..ask all the other chutney...not a site of it in the doubles other tamrand water...washroom is not even maintained properly..

I ve known the owners since their shop in Malvern-very loyal.. love their paratha roti and curry.. but the customer service at this location is awful. We call in our order and it still takes almost 30 mins for our rotis which is a bit ridiculous so plan ahead!

Excellent tasting! One of the best for West Indian food especially their beef roti. The downside is that their service is subpar and super slow. I always call in my orders ahead and they always say 20 mins for pickup but it always ends up being 30+ mins.

Will never go back here. The doubles and aloo pie were very salty. 5 aloo pies a 2 doubles coating $30 was totally not worth and it tasted terrible.

This place has surely gone downhill in the last few years. Food was salty, and microwaved. Girl tried to tell me it got cold on my way home. I live 5 mins away, theres no way it could be cold in the middle? Im not an idiot. Saheena was so hard and stale around the edge, also probably microwaved. Service is good, but the food is horrible.

Had a chicken roti. I waited about 30minutes for it. It was quite small, not enough filling inside. Was $18.05. Absolutely outrageous. I get it food prices have gone up but that was inexcusable.

The most disrespectful doubles Ive ever had in my life. I paid over $8 for two doubles and they were slapped together with no effort. AND the barra was stiff like it had been microwaved, Im never returning to this restaurant again.

I ordered the curried chicken n rice. The chicken had no taste at all and no gravy. It taste like boiled chicken with no salt. I also had the doubles what a disappointment in taste. Chana was watery and hard and bara wasn t right. The price is too high for that quality.

I wont be going back. The 2 young girls working there were friendly but the old guy who they call uncle, this guy is so rude and useless. I purchased goat and chicken curry but was told roti would be 15min. So I went back 20min later, it was ready but I had to wait until uncle was ready to serve me. There was one person before and one person after me complained about placing an order for 1pm pickup and at 2:15pm they were still waiting. Let me say, while the service was awful, the food wasnt good either. And somehow this place is busy.

The food here is outstanding. The taste is amazing. I travel fro Belleville just for the great curry and roti!!!!

I ve been going here for a while, and it s not even the greatest place. I order 6 doubles with no pepper. I repeated this to the worker atleast 2 times. I get home, go to eat one, and all of them have a ton of pepper on them. Also Whenever I order from Taste of T&T they say it ll be 15 minutes, whenever i get there it is still not ready and then i have to wait 20 extra minutes. Horrible Service, and rude workers!

I was the only patron in the place and I only ordered 3 doubles. Another patron came in to pick up their pick-up order. Which was a much larger order 8 doubles plus which was not ready for pick up .another patron came and ordered a chicken roti plus 2 doubles. The young girls behind the counter proceeded to fill the pick-up order and the other order after!!! Leaving me the last patron there to receive my order. When questioned the young girl told me I told my other staff that I m doing the doubles where I replied She made 2 doubles for that order! She apologized for the wait to which I replied It s not the wait, you served ppl that ordered after me. I ve been coming to T&T for more than 10yrs. Not anymore!!!! Terrible customer service and explanation for it. Shame on them.

I use to enjoy Taste of T&T roti. But today it was absolutely horrible. No taste plus I paid $38.38 for 2 roti. Definitely wont be going back.

My go-to spot for doubles and aloo-pies! Food is always good. The staff are friendly. Orders always take long to get though. Even when you order in advance over the phone, it takes such a long time to get it when you come to pick it up.

I spent $30.77 and had to wait 20 minutes (when there were no people ahead of me and no other orders being done) for one chicken curry and dahlpouri and three doubles. I watch this person serving me walk back and forth with singular items, putting them down in places and then coming back to it to handle it a second and third time. All of these items are pre-cooked and require very little assembly. I took the items home and was very disappointed. The doubles are now a lot smaller than they used to be, and very small and comparison to the competitors. Out of everything that I ate only the channa inside the doubles had flavor. Your dalhpouri is tough, your seasonings in the curry need to be cooked out a lot more. The dough you guys use for your bara for the doubles is rubbery. Ive been coming here for years and Im surprised at the absolute decline of quality. I know things have inflated in cost, but I have a hard time understanding how three doubles and one curry and roti equals to almost $31. Furthermore, the area where people order and wait for their food is dirty and the seating is completely chipped. The place looks like a dump. Im going to have to stop coming here.

Doubles were good.

Ordered 2 oxtail for $17 each and you get 4 pieces of oxtail. Doubles are expensive and small. Asked for extra gravy and didnt get that. Oxtail was completely dry. Also said no pepper but it was hot.

When I m in the East end this is my go-to place for all my roti and West Indian delight needs. The curry chicken roti is incredible and the staff is always very friendly and accommodating

Wasted my money ..... I ordered the boneless jerk chicken meal .. and its not even edible.. asked for light spice and to way too hot to enjoy.... Why not put the pepper on the side... Dont waste your money or time here . Worst first time experience

Was just ok. Curried goat was more like stewed peppery goat. Looked online prices through doordash were $16.99 but in store $18.99 for curried goat roti.

Went there last night, as I had pre-ordered three paratha. I also order a side of curry chicken($13)and a side of potato($9). As you can see from the photo, potato cannot be recognized but only mush. The chicken size have been reduced, and was not filled either. In total I spent $38. When I called, the gentleman said to me, thats how its been done for years. I said serving potato baby much, his answer was Sorry. Did not try to fix the issue at any time during the conservation. You serve me that quality of food, that Im not satisfied with and you got my money. Will never be back, the are many other roti shops in Ajax

Place has been going downhill a while. The portions are smaller and the customer service is okay. It s okay! You get better rotis other places like Drupatis, or Myrtles Kitchen for chicken. I m Jamaican, I love spice and flavour

Prices have gone up (My roti was 18$) & portions have gone down. Food is good but customer service could be better. The older people working there seem miserable.

Why has the price has gone up??? I paid $32 for 2 meat roti s. I appreciate that everything is fresh and there is a variety on the menu but it s not right to overcharge. Please bring your prices back to earth. I m thinking of trying new places. I like Lena s and Drupatis. Plus there are so much more friendly. I like the new ladies and the gentleman tho. God bless and hope you understand that your service is slow even though I know your rotis are fresh. But recently your filling is pinch. You gotta do better please and thank you.

Just ordered the boneless Jerry chicken . Tastes like bottled jerk and so salty its essentially unedible. Two stars for portion size.

Worst food i ever had in my life

Size does matter... These were the smallest aloo pies and saheena that Ive ever had in my life. The doubles was twice the size of all our aloo pies. To be honest, the taste wasnt anything to write home about either!! Lenas has improved a LOT.. so i would just go there

1st time, asked for conch roti, they ran out. Asked for shrimp and while putting mine together thry realised there wasnt enough. So they added some chicken, never offer me anything for the difference in price. Shrimp was more expensive than chicken. I paid the shrimp price! It is pricey for a roti. The good part... freshly made, flavorful I really enjoyed it.

Food is pretty clutch. The partha is so good some of the best I ever have. I saw people complain that the workers arent friendly , let me just say you dont go to a carribean restaurant for customer service. If youre at a Caribbean restaurant and theyre friendly itll be trash. Taste of t &t is legit the curry is good, roti is great. One of my favorite places

This is my go to place for goat roti and doubles. They are both great in my opinion. Much better than all the other roti places around this area. The service is good too. Not overly friendly but Im not going there to socialize so it works well for me.

This place use to be one of my favorite places for Roti. This place however has been going downhill for the past few months but todays experience is the worst. Dinner rush wanted Chicken roti but they had NO potatoes!! How are you a Roti shop with NO potatoes...decided to change and get Doubles but they had none of those either. Will not be back there again

Been to this place a few times , I was told it was good . I wish I could say the same about the surly people who work there , you walk in and they make you feel like they are doing you a favor NOT the other way around. The food is not bad but I feel like I m in the soup natzy kitchen. First time I thought ok then second and third time I said to my self I don t need this attitude specially at these crazy prices . I ll find somewhere else .

We usually go to Drupatis but did not want to drive to the south end. I bought the curry chicken and veggie roti on paratha shell. The shells were half empty! Very disappointing! It looks like they go cheap on the filling. Dont waste your time. Next time I will drive to Drupatis. Its definately worth the drive.

I hope the owners will be reading this review and take my suggestion seriously to improve.I dont have a problem with the taste of the roti and doubles,infact,I like the taste.I would suggest that the channa for the doubles be not so watery,most times,I can eat it with a straw,and its quite messy to eat.I will say,other roti shops have the same problem.I remember eating doubles in Trinidad and if you want to serve authentic Trinidad doubles,this is not it.

Best Doubles in Ontario

Place is amazing. If alot of you dont know. They use to own the roti and palau shop on lapsley and Sheppard they left that location close to 7 yrs ago. And opened this location in ajax. Ive been eating from their locations since 1999 and never had amazing doubles like they have them. The food itself is amazing. No matter what you get.

Oxtail has no flavour....dough is too thick on the doubles...feel like I wasted my money. Def not the best Trini food have had way better.

Staff were polite and courteous. Restaurant is clean. They have sound COVID 19 protocol in place, which definitely enhances the visit as you know they take the health and safety of the staff and customers seriously.

I have been buying here for 12 years. Amazing food overall! Love the family atmosphere and will continue to buy here. I always recommend to everyone. However, noticed that over the last few months or so the beef in the roti had become really fatty. Probably because of a supplier change or something but just wanted to bring to your attention as I ll probably just have to eat shrimp for now.

Absolutely trash human beings run this restaurant. They pay people below minimum wage, the owner berates and humiliates workers in front of everyone, talks back to customers, etc. If you buy from here, you re supporting extremely unethical practices. Ritz is nearby and much better.

The goat curry dinner was AMAZING. And the owner is so lovely. She helped us the other day and was so sweet.

What a waste of time and money. Customer service and customer satisfaction doesnt exist. After waiting forever for 6 roti, they managed to get 1 of them right. Thankfully there are better roti shops available with amazing food and services.

Has great food but severely needs to improve speed of service. They should observe how Subway or other assembly line type food places run things on the front end. Even if understaffed folks shouldnt be waiting upwards 45mins for what amounts to a hot pita wrap to be assembled. Also, please wash your hands in between answering your phone /handling cash and preparing orders people are watching and its nasty.

Best Caribbean food to try

As I was eating my roti, I found a toonie in my food. I am very displeased at the customer service at this establishment. I feel like the needs of their customer wasn t met and they didn t care for how I was feeling. This is a serious health issue that needs to be addressed. I will not be returning to this establishment for anything and I hope they do a better job with their service and the serving of their food.

Food is a five... some of the best Roti in the GTA- especially the goat and doubles and great. Service is a three... inefficient and occasionally indifferent
