This is the worst Chinese food Ive ever eaten.. also to be yelled at by the owner and supervisor is discussing. Every time I used to buy their food Ive spent well over $300 each time I buy got Im a foster home and have 10 individuals whom I feed. Im very disappointed and disgusted how they treated my husband and myself. Then they went through all my food with their bare hands and now they expect me to eat it!! And wont give me my money back.

Bought 7 combos and everything was over cooked. When I say the food I was shocked they would even serve that.

We have been ordering here for 34 years and this was the first time the food was terrible - is it under new management??? - most dishes were thrown in garbage will never order from here again !!!

They overlooked an order that I placed online. When I arrived for Pick up, they were all ready to leave for the night. The owner went back inside the restaurant got my order ready. What a customer service!?!

Had takeout meal from House of China tonight. All of the food was excellent and some of the best tasting Chinese food ever. The service was also very friendly and fast.

If you re a fan of Chinese cuisine, you absolutely have to try House of China ,Ajax. This restaurant offers some of the best Chinese food I ve ever had.I ordered egg fried noodle ,Very good portion size and it tastes so delicious make it worthwhile visiting

This place used to be good, but recently I noticed the place doesnt taste the same. The rice is a burnt and the chicken breast is dry.

We decided to try this again its been a year or 2 i think that we order our food from this restaurant we had a bad experience with their food after spending $100 the food is no good tasteless, dry no flavor burnt rice etc, now we re back to try everything is perfect! Lots of flavor good portion keep it up we will definitely coming back!

Waiting inside the over 5 minutes before someone seen me .Got home with my food to find no sweet and sour sauce for chicken balls and no sauce for my General Taos...called the store and was explaining what happened and the hung up before I finished explaining the problem. Went back the gave me a bag and said sorry ....got back home there was only sweet and sour sauce no General Taos sauce .That was it I will never give them my business ever again

It is take-out or deliver Chinese Food. It has soups, rice, noodles and other traditional chinese dishes. They deliver in Ajax over an amount of $40, before tax. My order was ready to be pick up in 10 minutes , according to them; this depends of what you order

Best Chinese food around. Have had the food from there hundreds of times over the last 25 years. Every meal has been perfect. We have had many home deliveries Always hot. Lots of times I have stopped in there to have early supper.They open at 3pm close at 11pm Dinner for 1.They substitute menu items with no fuss

Would never order the house rice or the deep fried shrimp again. Rice had a curry after taste to it and shrimp were small and hard. And did not taste freshly cooked. Very disappointing

July 22, 2022. Being going here for at least 26 yrs, always great food, must have changed the chef lately, food is very bland and lacking appeal sadly.

Unfortunately, this place has went downhill this past while. There must be a change of chef, because it wasnt like this year ago. The food used to taste great, but now its not the same anymore. Please just shut this place down because whats the point anymore?!

Absolutely amazing food. We have been ordering from House of China for a few years now and the service is fast, food is amazing and the staff are incredible. We order delivery or pick up on a weekly basis and sometimes twice a week. If I had to recommend an item on the menu ..it would be every dish they make as I have not come across anything that I didn t like. Thank you House of China for all the wonderful meals you have made for me and my family.

Its a great place to go to when youre hungry at 2:00 in the morning but I dont recommend it

After 20 + years this is the last time I order from here. 3 dishes are now almost $50. I have tried to overlook rapidly increasing prices every few months but this once great food edtablishment is no longer, it now is tepid and mediocre at best. The final insult was that even with a 50 dollar order, there were no soy sauces or fortune cookies included. I understand everyone is hurting with inflation and all these days but there is a big difference between cutting costs and outright sticking it to the customer. Good luck House of China, no more business from me

The wrong order was delivered two times in a row. When I called to complain the woman on the phone just repeatedly told me no . Then she told me it shouldn t matter because my order was only $40.... but the driver had charged me $57. Never. Again. In these uncertain times we need to ensure we spend our hard earned money on small businesses that value us, this is not one of those places.

I will never buy any food from those people again, I ordered some shrimp fried rice and the shrimp was totally spoiled, when I called back, got no one, my wife called, they answered right away, very fishy people, dont trust them at all, will not buy there again

Used to be amazing. Something changed - either management or the chef, not sure. The menu changed as well. Our favourites are no longer offered and the quality has dropped dramatically. Very disappointed after years of a great experience. Never again, sadly.

Great tasting food

I order occasionally from House Of China. 9/10 they never disappoint. This place has been here FOREVER. Delivery is so fast too! Definitely one of the better Chinese food places in Ajax.

Just tried ordering. This was our first time trying, when the order didnt arrive we tried calling to ask whats going on. When the manager answered the phone he was saying it wasnt his problem and he had nothing to do with it. Keep in mind it was the manager! We then started reading the reviews, we realised we were happy we didnt get our order! Still a problem the way the manager was acting... Do not recommend!

I wish I could them 0 stars. The food is actually disgusting. I ordered the kung pao chicken and the chicken had a frozen taste. Im sensitive to freshness of meat and I knew right away thus was old chicken.it had zero taste, bland, the absolute WORSE Chinese food Ive ever had. I asked for a refund and got nothing. I ordered through uber and they wouldnt help either. What a waste of money. Im so disappointed I NEVER be ordering from here again I suggest you all move on if you want chinese food, this is not the place for it.

I ordered the general Tao chicken, vegetable lo mein and pork dumplings. All 3 were disappointing. The general Tao made me sad :( (its one of my favorite dishes) the breading was very soggy, the flavour was bland. Ive ordered the dish over the years from so many places, and sogginess has never been an issue. It felt like it was coated in wet bread. The seasoning and flavour for the other two dishes was off. The veg lo mein had an off flavour, and a strange chewing Ive never had with any low mean across the gta. Do yourself a favour and skip the disappointment

I would give this place a 0 star but there s no option I ordered sweet and sour chicken. Chicken was dry sauce on the side whatever.. i went to open the sauce there was hair in the sauce .. I just threw the whole entire thing out .. smh- would not recommend

Best chinese food I durham region

Stopped by on a visit through Ajax and found this spot! Its located across from the Town Hall in a small plaza type place. Ordered the chicken balls which were amazing - definitely worth the price in my opinion. Will be back for more if Im ever in town! It seems like a family run place. The person taking the order seemed to be new so the ordering was a little slow - but you could tell that she was trying. Fortunately for us, there werent many people there so we still got our food quickly. Its a take-out only spot. Although they do have chairs to wait, it would be nice to have a table so we could get there!

Ive been a loyal customer for 20 years. This was the best place for Chinese food and the staff was awesome! We just ordered tonight, last time was in the fall. Under new management and the food is Disscusting! The people have no manners. The Bbq slices were just lard with dirty lettuce that filled the bottom half of the container . The rice had no flavor. The food was cold. Spent $65 on food for my DOG! Lost me as a customer. Will miss the original House of Cina.

Good restaurant for take out

If less than one star was possible that would be my rating! Well how to I begin? Let me just start by saying that I did not order from them tonight. A vehicle pulled in my driveway and I thought nothing of it initially thinking that it was probably some delivery for the basement (which it ended up being). The delivery driver came to our door, hey mistakes happen, but instead of knocking she opened up our door held it open until we were beyond yelling at her to shut it while trying to prevent two huskys from escaping our house! Like I said, I get that mistakes happen but who opens someones door like that!? Especially through a pandemic! When we spoke to the manager they first said that our order is on its way without even knowing an address! We then told her that we didnt order anything and told her what had happened and to no avail just said oh the woman yeah she makes mistakes. What type of service is that!? Opening someones door is completely unacceptable and dangerous for the occupants of a household and the delivery person! This business clearly doesnt care to pay any attention to detail whatsoever! Do not recommend!

Food is always amazing !

I m pretty sad. This used to be my favourite wonton soup that I ve been ordering for 20 years. As a kid I d even save up my allowance money just to get their soup. Not sure how they make it now but it doesn t taste good anymore. The pork wontons used to be huge, seasoned and filled with meat. Now it s like low quality meat and chewy. The broth is also too salty. I m pretty bummed.

50 Years? Must be a change of ownership. We ordered and it was barely ok. I did not like the lemon chicken. When we picked up our order, we had to tap the machine a few times to say no to tip. Cannot tap and go. We miss Yummy Yummy! Update: We have ordered a few more times and find the lo mien lacking. They are cheap with this. Not much noodles. Our previous place added lots of noodles. Otherwise the meal was good. Still going to keep looking for another place for take out.

Ordered through skip the dishes and order was ready on time. I ordered the king pao chicken, sweet and sour chicken, chicken fried rice and egg roll as a combo. Everything seemed very bland, very standard, very basic americanized chinese food. Nothing really stood out. The chicken was heavily battered/breaded, some battered/breaded chunks had no chicken in them. Just oil soaked pieces of breading. The egg rolls were drenched in oil too, I had to soak it up with a paper towel. The food wasnt terrible, just very bland and forgetful. There are other chinese joints walking distance from this place, this place barely gets 2 stars.

Spicy shrimp and wonton soup with bbq pork is very tasty

Everytime we order from here they take my allergies seriously. Food is delicious and the customer service is lovely. Amazing chow mein, chicken balls and spicy shrimp

The food quite simply, is tasteless. Overcooked, under seasoned, what we ordered was a huge disappointment. The noodles & vegetables were a soggy mess, the Soo guy was deep fried to the point of being inedible, the Beef with vegetables had zero flavour, & both the spring rolls & egg rolls tasted off. The rice was just ok. They told us takeout would be ready in 20 minutes, it took more than twice that long. We ordered food for 4, they added one fork, & one fortune cookie. Most of the food ended up in the garbage. I don t understand how a restaurant stays so busy turning out the quality (or lack of) that this one does.

Great prices

I ordered chicken fried rice and chicken wings. The rice tasted burned and gross. Surprisingly the wings weren t bad.

First impressions the place didn t look very fancy on the inside, but the food was very good !! I ordered for pickup and it was only a 15 minute wait and the food was hot and we got free ribs as well ! I would recommend.

Ive been eating there for the past 30 years. Its the best place to get Chinese food in Ajax. I have tried other places and they are not as good, and thier prices have gone up compared to house of china. They also have good portion sizes I only go house china

The new management is awesome. The older lady at the front is a gem! Shes always making conversation and is friendly. The chicken balls have more meat now and there chicken corn soup cannot be matched. Must try!

Love this place. Its one of the few spots open late in Ajax, which is really nice. The people are awesome and the food is hot and fast. Try the meat wontons. Half dumpling. Half chicken ball. All delicious.

So fresh and delicious! We love ordering take out. After moving to Oshawa we still enjoy ordering from House of China.

Shanghai noodles tasted like from a cheap pack of ramen and the rice was doused in soy sauce. I don t know who s giving these positive reviews but I suspect it s peole known to the owner cos ... yikes! WOULD NOT RECCOMEND.

My number 1 Chinese take out place. Huge selection of options. Fresh and hot when you order. Vegetables are fresh, friendly staff. Quick delivery. Just wish they were on Uber eats or skip the dishes.

Although the food is only decent, its fast and appropriately priced. The food is ready only moments after you order, and the people behind the counter are always nice and talkative. It also helps that its one of the few places in Ajax open really late.

We order from House of China regularly and the last 2 times have been awful. The chicken balls were completely over cooked, hard and tough to chew. The rice also had a burnt taste. We have been buying food from them for years, but the new owners over cook everything! Not ordering from them anymore

My family and I called them this Christmas Eve and placed an order for pick up. We showed up when they told us too and they said Another 5 minutes.. They continued to tell us another 5 minutes while we waited .. 35 minutes past before our order was ready they told us another 5 minutes 3-4 times it went on and on was kind of like that Seinfeld episode. They clearly had forgotten to start our order until we showed up.. We asked for a discount on our order due to the confusion and were rudely refused... The food sucked, was overpriced and the building was filthy and run down the staff were rude and disorganized.. Go somewhere else!

Worst food ever. I have ordered from there for 18 years and this was the worst experience ever. I took the 2 bags of food back and all I got from the owner was that they pack too much food and I was returning the leftovers for a refund. I dont think the oil has been changed in years as everything had a burnt taste to it. The egg rolls were totally mushy and the MooShoo was swimming in brown gravy. I have never in the last 40 years had MooShoo that was a soup. Last time I will ever be ordering from there.

New management, and it shows, quality of food has nose dived. Used to love this place, and they delivery used to be super quick. I remember thinking the elderly couple that ran it were going to retire soon, sure enough they must have cause the changes have hit hard now. Twice now have ordered chicken balls that were wierdly burnt or overcooked, how does a canadian chinese resturant not get chicken balls right?!

I think this place is pretty great considering all of the poor reviews. The delivery time was quick and it was VERY cheap for the amount of food that I got. I enjoyed everything I ordered which was chicken balls, egg roll, rice, ribs, general Tso chicken and chop suey. It was only 26$ for all of that and there is plenty left over !

The food was good and neatly packed. Cooked properly, we enjoyed very much so. my 7 years old son loved the chicken balls.

Worst experience ever!!! We decided to try something new in the area. We ended up reading the reviews on this establishment and decided to give it a shot....the food was 15 minutes later than they said it would take, but that was fine since it was Fathers Day. But when we got home and tried the food it was simply the worst food I have had. There was a weird smell and the taste was extremely funky. I decided to call them back and ask for a refund and even offered to bring the food back so that they could try it. They said since I already took a bite of the food I can not return it. My question back was how would I know if there was anything wrong unless I took a bite? When the rude lady asked her manager again they said, at this point there is nothing you can do, we can not give you a refund since you already took a bite. When I asked again, do I have any options, she again said no, there are no options, you are stuck with the food. I think this was the worst customer experience I have ever had and will ensure I will not go back. The one thing they failed to realize is that I work for the town of Ajax and will ensure that I will let anyone I can know this is a place to to visit.

Only spring rolls were good

Great food but seriously the chef or owner was screaming at a driver on the phone when there was a little kid in the waiting area. Everyone was looking at each other awkwardly. I should have recorded it as it put Chef Ramsey to shame. The food is great, that evening they totally gave us the wrong order, but I wasnt going to call back or say anything as that guy would have gone completely berserk and we would have been reading it in the headlines. Seriously take anger management classes and go easy on your staff, especially when there is a little kid in your waiting area. Id have given you no stars but even with the wrong order the food was still great.

The House of China has the Best Spring Rolls I have ever had! I actually turned around to buy several more after consuming two from the take-out order on my way home.
