Personally, best poutine in Pickering. This is our go to spot every time someone comes to town. Brought our Nephew from Florida and I think he just inhaled it. Vegetarian options: Vege Gravy!

The food was good, and I loved all the options to choose from. My only complaint was that depending on the size (large box) you pick, I think there should be more gravy added without having to ask. Also, there wasnt any gravy on top of my choice of poutine, which made it even worse (dry chicken is never fun)

Food is good and service is good too. But dont like that I asked for an extra topping and was charged for it only to come home and see the topping I paid for was not added.

I really enjoyed the poutine! My 3 star review is mainly because I was disappointed when the girl at the cash was wearing AirPods and talking on the phone in the middle of taking my order. She had to ask me to repeat what I was ordering more than once because she was responding to the person on the phone, not listening to me. I would usually not write a review like this, but I think that it is so important to take value in your customers and as an employee, understand that the customer should come before the phone call. Again, I am not mad she was wearing AirPods or even on the phone, but responding to them instead of listening to my order when she asked me what I would like is what made me disappointed. Needs some improvement here. I hope something will change because I think she is so capable of great things

Husband loves this place. He loves poutine and tried a lot of other places, but this is his favourite.

Never been to this place decided to try it put the girl working there wasnt very friendly the food presentation was terrible I ordered the veggie poutine it was terrible and not worth the money spent I should have just gotten a basic poutine the grilled onions were huge and distasteful as well as tthe sweet peppers I choose tomatoes over mushrooms which were the only things cut up the food juay looked like sononw chewed and spit it out I to the box never eating there again it was absolutely disgusting and a waste if 12.62

Absolutely love this place. I did have one issue recently though. I ordered a regular classic with a cup of gravy on the side. I was charged for the extra gravy, which I expected, but when I opened my box of poutine, it didnt have any gravy on it! So, I paid full price for poutine without gravy and then $2 extra for the amount that should have been on the fries in the first place. BTW, the gravy is delicious!

This place has great poutine options using what looks like Cavendish fries. In that case, should one just head to Costco and get their $5/$6 Poutine instead? I don t mean to shed any negativity about this restaurant as the poutine I tried was great and I noticed there are many food options to select from. I would come back again and do recommend this place to others or anyone in the area.

Good taste but they should also keep the option for chicken hot dog, all is beef and pork.

Authentic Poutine! Have tried their Philly cheese poutine and fried chicken Poutine. Both were equally indulging! March 2023: Bought phillycheesesteak poutine and felt disappointed! There was hardly and cheese and gravy!!

Ordered poutine through Uber eats for pick up. We were up the road on the way there. Time said 10 minutes. We pulled into the parking lot and waited. It then turned into 30 minutes. What?! I walked in and the 2 ladies were just chilling. I asked for my order and she said oh ok. we ll start it right now for you. Are you freaking kidding me?! Then the other lady starts picking her teeth with her fingers, walks to the fridge, and starts grabbing the cheese curds for someone else s order. Miss ma am, wash your hands and put gloves on. The whole order took about 7 minutes. How did we go from 10 minutes to now 40 minutes?! Have your staff wash their hands after they eat and especially after they are all up in their mouth picking food.

First time here. Ordered Philly cheese steak. Fries are not fresh cut and the mushrooms are from a can. Not enough gravy. Will not be going back.

DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE! I was in the area and decided to try Mean Poutine out for the first time last night and regret that I did. The service was TERRIBLE! No one greeted us and the workers proceeded to just stare. When I asked what specials they were known for, the girl proceeded to just point to the decals on the wall without saying a word. Recognizing her rudeness, I tried to defuse it with some humor; however, she wasnt having it. I asked questions about some of the offerings and she proceeded to hand me a menu. I shouldve just left at that point. However, I proceeded to order. One was a customized poutine and the other was off the menu along with some refreshments. When we got the food, we sat down and started eating. Honestly the food was subpar at best and my customized poutine was terrible. The gravy was thin and tasteless and the ground beef had no seasoning or flavor. I went up to the counter to ask for my refreshments (because they forgot to give it to me in the beginning) and I was asked if I was eating in. When I said yes, I was told that they were closing in 20 min and they still needed to clean the floors in the dining room. At that point I was done. I needed to just leave and NEVER visit again. It was a horrible experience and would NOT recommend this place. Awful customer service and horrible food. Do better.

Came at 9:50pm and they refused me because they close at 10pm

The server sold us a poutine and didn t tell us that there were two of the main ingredients missing before we bought it. Only when we asked about it after we started eating and noticed they weren t there she informed us they were out of the product and everyone was missing it tonight and didn t offer a refund or any compensation or product change. Also, the restaurant was closing at 9pm and at 8:40pm we were told to leave so she could clean. For a $60 meal for 4 people and a tip you give before receiving your product we were extremely disappointed. Won t be coming back.

Love this place, the employees are great but management shouldn t have one person working at night. When it gets busy customers are aggravated with the employee but it s managements fault for not scheduling more people. More than that it s dangerous to have one person working at a time. If you come here later in the day try to have patience for the person behind the counter, they are really doing their best

The staff is very friendly and helpful. There are a few seats and the restaurant is kept clean. I stuck with the classic poutine for my first time and it was great - the fries were cooked well, perfect amount of gravy, and the cheese curds provided a great cheese pull. Ill definitely be coming back.

Good location and a lot of choices! Went with the classic poutine which comes with green onions that I love. The poutine was better than expected but I found the gravy way too salty so I couldnt finish it. Unless the sodium levels are adjusted, I dont think I would return.

Big on size and flavour, you can t go wrong with this place. I ordered 2 poutines and a hotdog for myself and my brother. 1 poutine would have been enough for both of us. We ll be eating from here again. Hotdog was meh, the poutine is what they really do well here.

They have halal & vegetarian options available and when I am craving poutine, their halal Buffalo chicken is the one I get, never fails to satisfy

Randomly saw this while in the plaza and decided to check it out. Pretty good selection to choose from and you sort of customize at the cost of using the add ons. Gravy was decent but nothing to rave about , portion was great.

Went into to grab a poutine and one of the girls working, was talking out loud, I guess we cant leave early today. Ummm youre a fast food establishment, are you not happy where you work?! While looking at the menu, the same girl asked if I wanted to order, I told her not yet. I felt rushed and they seemed they didnt want any customers, so they can close asap. The food is good, but staff needs better customer service or find a job that is more suitable to them.

I saw this place and thought I would give it a try. I got the Fried Chicken Poutine for take-out, then once I got home I saw that the box was probably half-filled, and there were pieces of plain fried chicken instead of buffalo fried chicken pieces, as indicated on the menu. The gravy was decent but the fries were not fresh. Would not go again or recommend to anyone.

Clean restaurant. Ordered. They asked if we were ok waiting 5 minutes while they made us fresh fries. OF COURSE WE DONT MIND!!! Those first few bites of fresh crispy fries.... oh man. A delicious poutine is not hard to achieve. Crispy fries. Tasty well seasoned gravy. Lots of cheese curd. All three were found here. Wayyyy tastier than smokes. Hands down. My husband ordered the fried chicken poutine and I got the pierogie poutine. Both delicious. Highly recommend.

I stopped by here on Saturday to try out this place for the first time. The food was good but I was very disappointed with my experience. I was in the restaurant waiting for about 10-15 minutes for my food, in that time I watched the two ladies who were working take multiple cash orders, reach into the garbage to grab a receipt and answer phone calls then go directly back to cooking food and cutting up vegetables without washing their hands or even changing their gloves. It was very concerning seeing this and made me not really even want to eat my food. I have reached out to you via Instagram and am looking forward to hearing back.

Its good if you are ok with costco style frozen breaded fries. I always expect skin on fresh cut fries when it comes to poutine. Mushrooms in veggie poutine appear to come from a can. Again I expect fresh. Everything was prepared well - just didnt meet my expectations.

Asked for the halal option for the hotdog and they just gave me two small $2/12 pack hotdogs from the grocery store in a huge bun. If youre gonna advertise being halal, make sure ur not compromising the experience and quality. If theres nothing you can do about it just dont advertise urselves as halal.

Poutine is very good but I also ordered a hotdog. The hotdog was not cooked, it was like it was taken out the package and slapped on the bun. Not worth the price. Will maybe go back for poutine but nothing else!

Each time Ive come, staff have been friendly and efficient, the fries have been made fresh and have an excellent crunch before being softened by the gravy (which is vegetarian!). Good ratio of topping:fries, not over priced. Definitely my favourite place to get poutine!

Absolutely disgusting. We ordered from this location on an app. We had asked for no mushrooms on a philly cheesesteak poutine since there s an allergy, and it came with full on mushrooms. The Gravy is like watered down. Also ordered the cheeseburger poutine, the tomatoes were soggy and the onions were basically raw not sautéed at all. Never recommend this to anyone, just go to Philthys.

The fried chicken poutine is life! The fries that they put in the poutine are awesome. they dont get all soggy and stay crisp till the end. The portions are also HUGE. Hands down my favorite poutine spot.

First had Mean Poutine at the location in Vancouver, safe to say the quality is the same at this location! Fried chicken poutine is definitely the go-to, service is A+. Do yourself a favor, and eat here!

I ve been here multiple times and it s always been great service and great food! Their Southern BBQ poutine alone......could put Smokes Poutine out of business. It seems as though the majority of the negative reviews revolve around ordering the food through Uber eats or something....try going in, it s always been a pleasant experience for me.

Gravy was a bit too salty and not hot enough to melt the curd cheese.and maybe a bit too thick. Easy to fix so please fix so I can return. Thanks

One of the best poutines Ive had in a long time. Fries were cooked perfectly and crispy and the gravy was delicious.

Well I did a search for poutine in Ajax and this name popped up. I was surprised I hadn t heard of this place before as I am a poutine fiend. I don t like to admit that but I am. So I go up to this place and it looks nice. Sign outside says one of the top 100 places to eat in your life and the usual self promotion. I go in and notice that there is no one ordering yet Mary Browns directly beside it is packed. Ok no worries not everyone loves poutine. I order the regular poutine in a large size. Fries, cheese curds and gravy. The associate working there offers me green onions for some reason to which I decline. Tells me about five minutes so I go outside and wait. I go in about three minutes later and it s done. She s just putting it in a bag and asks me if I want cutlery. I grab the food and go sit outside on the curb and open it up. Ok first impressions are the portion size is definitely value for the money, they use real cheese curds and the gravy wasn t too much or too little. It was the perfect amount. But then, then I noticed it. I was immediately disappointed and couldn t believe I d been duped. They were using battered frozen French fries. I was shocked as any respectable place for poutine would use fresh cut fries. So I tried it. The gravy was decent although a bit salty. That s ok because I like salty foods. The cheese curds were good and the portion of them was perfect. Actually this may very well have been the best poutine ever had they used real fries not something from the freezer. Frozen fries are ok for a home but any establishment that serves them deserves to be shamed and it speaks volumes about their food and operations. Needless to say I ate all the cheese curds and was able to choke down about 30% of the French fries. All in all a very disappointing experience and I would not go back and do not recommend.

I had a truly wonderful experience at Mean Poutine Ajax. The owner was the one who served us and was extremely friendly and courteous! To add to the excellent customer experience was one of the greatest poutines I have ever tasted within the GTA. The portion size was perfect and the cheese curds were to die for. I will definitely be returning to this location whenever I am craving poutine, which, lets be honest, is everyday!

Tried the Fried Chicken pouting which had crispy fried chicken, cheese, gravy and green onions with Buffalo sauce on top. As well as a new feature; perogie poutine, which had cheese, gravy, sour cream and perogies on top. Both were really delicious and fresh.

I ordered a mean supreme poutine which supposed to have bacon yet there was none! There was about 4 small cheese curds on the entire large poutine. I specially asked for no mushrooms and there were mushrooms of course. Not a good spot.

Ordered the fried chicken poutine, was the worst poutine Ive ever had. They overcooked the fries and it was very hard and burned. Would not recommend. How are you a poutine restaurant and dont know how to cook the fries. Disappointing.

A great place for a quick bite to eat that doesnt feel like it weighs you down. A twist on the poutine market that offers a non-salty, and halal alternatives makes this place truly special. I have tried the classic, Mexicano, southern bbq and a few other variations, but have never been disappointed. The fries are nice and crispy. The toppings are not heavy or overpowering and flavours are spot on.

Stopped by for the first time tonight. Amazing service from the lone employee that had a lot on the go. He was very calm and made the experience enjoyable. The poutine was great. I had the fried chicken and my girlfriend had the Mean Mexicano. They were both very good. Ill be returning.

Very clean and some unique combos. Great service. Not a fancy dinning area but that is expected with any fast food chain. The guy behind the counter was very friendly, seemed like a high school kid but took good care of us. Kids loved it.

Very first time that I order from Mean Poutine. I ordered from Skip the Dishes which had no delivery charge if I order more than 20$, so thats what I did. I ordered the Mac and Cheese dog, Chilly Cheese dog, Mean Supreme poutine and Fried Chicken poutine with extra green onions ($0.50). We also ordered 2 side gravies ($2.00 each). We received the order and at first glance, I was disappointed because I never received the 2 side gravies for which I paid $4 dollars. I immediately went online and requested the $4 dollar reimbursement from Skip the Dishes, which I received instantly. Opened the poutine boxes and noticed that there was something wrong with the Fried Chicken poutine. Not only did they not add the extra green onions that I had ordered....but there were no green onions at all. I did not go back to Skip the Dishes to ask for yet another reimbursement for the $0.50 that I paid for the extra green onions but my disappointment got amplified. As for the Mean Supreme poutine, the menu indicated sautéd mushrooms. The mushrooms actually tasted like they came from a can. When you eat something and you already have a bad taste in your mouth (pun intended), you dont necessarily appreciate it as much. But to be completely fair to this establishment, I cannot say that the food was awful. The poutines were still quite good. As for the 2 dogs, they were good but not something I personally would order again. To summarise, do I recommend this place? For taste, yes. For service, no.

Decided to give Mean Poutine a try this past weekend following some grocery shopping in the plaza. I was skeptical at first. Upon walking in you realize the restaurant is clean and well kept. The staff is friendly and the Fried Chicken poutine was excellent! The reason for 4 stars is there was a family in the restaurant with, I assume, a 5-6 year old and the establishment had music playing in the background with a ton of swearing. I love hip hop but radio edited versions when my kids are around are a must.

Used Doordash, delivery and handling was great. The poutine itself was fantastic. The large is still a tad bit smaller then some local pubs but not by much. Though for a tiny bit less fries youre getting much more stuffing. Feels like every veggitable and piece of meat is perfectly equal to the amount of poutine thats actually in the box. TD;LR: Each bite is a good one. One of my new favorite places for poutine

Weve ordered from here before and it was awesome, so we decided to order again through UberEats and it was AWFUL when it got here. One of our poutines came with no gravy at all (just cheese and fries), we got no extra side of gravy that was ordered, and instead of caramelized onions there was a pile of legitimately raw onions thrown on top of each order. Unfortunately UberEats could only refund us a total of $7.00, and we never got any replacement food. So disappointing to see restaurants being so lazy with takeout food when the first time was so good.

I ordered from here before and it was very good, so I decided to order again and this time it tasted kinda wierd and the gravy and cheese were a little cold. After a couple of hours it gave me an upset stomach and all I could taste in my mouth was the gravy burbs. I say its better to go inside than ordering.

Probably the most pathetic poutine Ive had. Im not even sure why there are so many 4 star votes. Everyone I talk to locally nearby here says its terrible. Locals know the truth, but for some reason fake postings are still rampant.

The service was swift, got my order in less than 5 minutes. The lady who served was very polit and helpful. And personally I only eat halal, so it s a bonus for me to be able to eat the halal options. I got myself the fired chicken poutine and it was pretty good but not like oh my goodness best potions ever , an amazing potion size that was able to last me 2 meals.
