Service & communication were great, but the food was the BEST. I ordered a party tray of pancit, fried chicken, and kare-kare for my son’s first birthday. Let me tell you, it was a hit. Everyone really enjoyed the food. The dish that everyone complimented most was the kare-kare, saying that “This is the best kare-kare I’ve ever had!” Unfortunately, I don’t have any pictures because everyone ate it all. Lol. But I will definitely be ordering here again for my next event (and hopefully get pictures then).
I like the pick all you can. Clean store, the crews are nice and very respectful. The new management R&B are amazing. The sapin sapin is very delicious and the halo-halo, you must try it.
My husband and I stumbled upon this place one day while browsing the plaza. We ate big time goodies always looking for something new to try. I have to say we have not tried the food dishes but the in house made desserts and drinks. They are spectacular. Always fresh and delicious. The service and kindness of the staff is superb and hard to find these days. If you were thinking of stopping by do it!! You will not regret it and I promise you will find something you will enjoy. Support local and those bringing international food options to the area :)
My partner and I were craving some si-logs for Saturday brunch. I find it terrible that people are super critical to reduce ratings based on opening times & less than expected food portions. The portions were fine imo. We ordered some silogs, a side of bicol express & some pork bbq - everything was great! They also have a nice selection of baked goods and have a partnership with the cheesecake factory (grabbed some to go w/ ube baked goods. I’m not going to rob them of a star because it’s not Michelin quality. The customer service was great and they seem like very nice people-especially the sweet older lady who I assume is Mamalu. We honestly need more Filipino food in general and for a resto outside of the city here in Ajax, this is a nice little spot.
We were looking for some Filipino comfort food for my mother-in-law. We stumbled upon this establishment in Ajax. This restaurant has a small hot table and they also make noodle soup called "Lomi". There's a small dining area good for maybe 10 people max. We ordered 2 beef pares noodles (large) $14.99 and one combo meal 2 $12.99 with a choice of 2 meat (pork or chicken), steamed rice and bottled water. Portion wise, the combo meal was a little bit small but understandable for businesses trying to navigate through tough times. We got the bicol Express and another pork dish with shrimp paste. The pork used in these dishes were very fatty so unfortunately, most of the meat was not edible. A little more attention to the meat selection will go a long way for patrons to enjoy their hot table food. The highlight was the beef pares noodles soup. Took some time for them to prepare it, but well worth the wait. The broth was satisfying, and noodles cooked extra soft for my mother-in-law. The beef brisket was tender and seasoned well. Overall, it was a nice first experience at this local restaurant . I will visit again soon when craving some chicken Lomi or beef pares. The owner and staff were very friendly and treated you like family. Well done.
The palabok is excellent! It's a little pricey, but the portion size is huge (they say for 10 people, but honestly it can feed more). My wife finds it hilarious that they ask you if you want small noodles or large.. to her, "large noodle palabok" is pancit malabon. But anyway, I love this place, I will keep coming back and I highly recommend it.

Great food and service. I get my uber eats orders from Mama Lu since Covid. And they are my home away from home, always makes me feel like at home. She is the best Mama Lu, for Filipino food in Durham Region.
Mamalu is very friendly gives you that home vibe. Had the Beef Pares Mami and it was absolutely amazing. Will be going here again.

Go to Estacion instead. Price at Mamalus is VERY EXPENSIVE. $21 for a large container of meat compared to Estacion at $14 for same large container. Not much selection of food.
Mama Lu is the best Filipino spot in Ajax and Durham. Food is of great quality. Papa Dom and Mama Lu are great and good people kindhearted who is always there for the community and always the first one to help and support and build someone up. I always get my Filipino cravings satisfied at their place. And always meets above expectations. Uber eats orders portions are great. They helped me through wfh covid. And also their cheesecakes are amazing perfect for birthday gifts. So if you need party tray, or just need that warm home cooked style that reminds you of our home, Philippines come and visit Papa Dom and Mama Lu. It is the home you always will go back to. You wont regret it. I promise. Stay tuned for their new product and menu offerings.
The bread cheese bulilit and ube bulilit are to come back for!! Tastes like the ones you can buy from local bakeriesm in the Philippines (Kalihim bread), but softer. Price was 12 pcs for $6 or $7 I believe? They also have pandesal but we didn t get to try that since we dropped by at night
The serving is very small for the price you pay. There are options: to order the food already cooked or order to cook. I ordered order to cook but seemed like the foods were reheated. Not coming back there.
Definitely recommend to all Filipinos and even Non-Filipinos. Foods are great especially the beef pares whether with rice or noodles. Siomai and spring role so good my kiddos loved it, has to order 3x and others Filipino dessert and even cheesecake factory. The money you spent is worth it. And well surely buy it again. Kid-friendliness: Its spacious, has room even you have a stroller. Clean, the menu is on the 3 screen tv in front of you and tv to watch news etc while eating or waiting for your order. Its environment kids friendly. Wheelchair accessibility: They have 2 or more parking space for handicapped. And its on lower ground so safe for them.

The place is clean and doesnt have that carinderia look. Food is okay considering we can eat Filipino food we did not cook though home cooked food is still better than store bought for Filipino dishes. Food : 3/5

Thank you Papa Doms. Great portions of food. Reasonable price PLUS GOOD TASTY YUMMY FOOD.. This review was written when the restaurant was named Papa Doms. Since Mamalu took over, the food quality remains mediocre, the prices are high, and the seafood platter is mostly filled with corn and potatoes rather than seafood. The sauce lacks flavor, and the older lady serving at the front appears grumpy, exchanging portions on our plates without explanation. Overall, the experience was disappointing. NOT WORTH IT!! GO TO Lechun Republik Instead
First time to visit the place and I was surprised how big the serving was. The pork sisig cost $13.99 ($15.81 with tax) and it comes with a rice. There are different variety of viand, desserts, cakes from cheesecake factory and bread. The place was clean and organize during the visit.
I love how they have Valerio bread products here. And their food portions are big too! I have yet to try other food offerings here because everything looks good! And their staff are nice and friendly.
This is the 2nd time we went here but its always close. Updating store hours will help alot.
Great portions and reasonable prices. EVERYTHING we ordered was well enjoyed by our entire family. Our kids arent crazy about Filipino food but they truly enjoyed every bite of the food. A great selection of cheesecakes from the Cheesecake Factory were available and also enjoyed for dessert. Nothing but great things about this place. Highly recommend and well definitely be back!

Tried it last week. Amazing!! Pancit Canton was delicious and mouth watering. I tried the Halo Halo for dessert and it was incredible. My Filipino friends never told me how amazing this dessert is. I will be back.

Tried Papa Don s for the first time today and they didn t disappoint. Tried the bagnet kare kare and it was delicious. Palabok wasn t bad either. Quite impressed with the store, clean and modern. Plus they had a selection of cheesecakes from the Cheesecake Factory. Will definitely be back.

Incredible Filipino food in Ajax. I have been ordering food here every single week since they opened and they have not yet disappointed. The crispy pork kare kare, beef kaldereta, and sisig are a must try. They also sell Cheesecake Factory cakes, which make for a nice dessert. Customer service is also excellent.
