Amazing platters for parties

We ve ordered twice from this location with great taste and quality. Tonight, we paid an outrageous $78.00 for two chicken souvlaki dinners. The chicken skewers were charcoal burnt; black, carcinogenic, and charbroiled to the skewers. Pathetic!! The greek salad . Filled less than half of the container. 1/3 rd was red onion; yup. Where were the greens? The feta? The dressing was straight acidic vinegar poured over. Inedible. The rice cheap minute rice at best What a colossal waste of money. Stay away from this restaurant. (Btw we ordered from Uber eats).

Great service, better food

Recently found this gem in Ajax while doing some work. I then found myself going there for lunch everyday for 3 weeks straight lol the food is delicious and the staff is super friendly. I highly recommend checking them out and tell them Matthew sent you 2 Thumbs Up and 5 stars!!

The food was really bad, especially given the price. They got the order wrong, and received lemon potatoes instead of Greek fries. The lemon potatoes were way too lemony, and basically inedible. The gyro meat was burnt, every bite tasted like a mouthful of charcoal. The rice was also too lemony. Greek salad was good.

We placed an order, picked it up, and realized that were missing a few items. We called back and they immediately brought the missing items plus a few extras for the inconvenience. This place is great; food is amazing and very friendly service. Definitely will be back!

Decided to try The Greek Freak for the first time today. The staff here is very polite and friendly. Ordered two of the chicken souvlaki pitas with fries and was absolutely delicious! I would highly recommend this place 10/10!!

Like the Greek freak, oy issue is about 50% of the time the order isnt right so if u check that before you leave all good. Their chicken and their fries are delish !

I ordered the 16 stick feast . I was satisfied overall with the food . It was very good and very tasty. The pork skewers were a bit tough and chewy ,but the chicken were delicious. I never received pita bread which was supposed to come with the meal One problem I had though was I ordered 2 days in advance, arrived before my pickup time ,the store was empty 5 minutes later it was full People were leaving with their orders who came in after me and they had their names called .I patiently waiting, bags of food were on the rack so I decided to look and a bag with my name was on it . My name wasnt called ...everyone elses was ( 2 different people on cash which caused this confusion) Order # 2603

The pork was overcooked and a pin of sort was found in my son s food in the meat. Big enough to have someone choke on it. Awful.

mediocre greek and will generally get your order wrong. Been trying this place for years, despite them consistently getting something wrong in our order. Lack attention to detail and therefore not worth the price. Highly recommend trying somewhere else OR at minimal double checking your order before leaving the store.

Portions are terrible. Ordered the 16 piece feast which says its good for 5-8 people. The sides were tiny! Made for 2-3 people. The rice was also undercooked. I ordered this for my family and it was embarrassing how little food there was. I ended up having to made something myself to make up for it. Seriously disappointed, we used to come here a lot. This place used to be rated 4.8 stars. Saw the recent ratings drop and figured it might be picky customers etc, but no. Not coming back and cannot recommend this place anymore.

Sadly this place has really gone downhill. They completely ignore your order and then act surprised when you ask where it is.

Picked up a chicken dinner for my wife, she was very disappointed. Meat was very dry, and flavorless. There was only 4 small bits of potato, that were completely mush, and the rice was from a can or pouch. Also pita was burnt black. All this for 30 dollars.....Ive had better food cooked by a drunk over an open fire. Stay the eff away.

Tried the place for first time and was very disappointed. The potatoes and rice was extremely salty and sour. It was inedible. The only edible thing was chicken skewer. I am not sure if anyone tastes the food before serving to customer. Its a waste of money.

We enjoyed the family special of 8 chicken kabobs, rice, with naan. The chicken kabobs were nicely spiced, the rice was a mixed rice and it was good. There could have been more naan bread.

Clean, fast, fresh and delicious. Mostly takeout, but there are a few tables outside and a sitting area inside.

This food was nothing like whst it used to be, if this is now a franchise I would have hoped the original owners would have shared the true recipes for the potatoes and rice at least. They do not taste like Greek potatoes or rice at all. Im sorry but I wont have returning. Best of luck.

I came today- on Fathers Day to get 2 chicken souvlaki dinner. Food was very dry- rice and pita and the chicken- everything was dry. I paid 49$ for 2 meals and end up throwing the food. Never again!

Freak fries are amazing unfortunately it was not what I ordered. You should lower the music in the restaurant to better hear customers orders because two of the three orders were incorrect.

Great food! Great portions! Salad comes on the side in a separate container with vinaigrette! Overall amazing food and good service. My only wish is that the patio section was cleaner as it was a beautiful day and my partner and I would ve liked to enjoy our meals on the patio.

Update: March 24, 2024 - REALLY disappointing , the food used to be outstanding but the quality has really deteriorated. More specifically, the quality of the meat, we got their Freak Pita with the pork and chicken and we ended up pulling most of the pork out because it was either extremely chewy or had a very weird consistency/ texture that made it totally inedible. To come to this restaurant is a solid 30-40 min drive, we won t bother making the drive again , very sad. Stellar food, excellent value. My wife and I went for lunch on the weekend, we got the freak pita, it was epically delicious. We live in Oshawa but will happily make the trip back soon for another amazing lunch.

Our go to spot for Greek food in Ajax! Delicious food, reasonably priced and the service is always top notch. Their catering menu is perfect for large parties. Would highly recommend ordering online for pickup during the lunch and dinner hours.

We went to the restaurant and ordered food for takeout. Very hungry and looking forward to our food. Ice cold fries, souvlaki and gyro on cold pitas which was disappointing and totally inedible. The two guys behind the counter were very nice Was a huge surprise that we received such poor quality food.

Great go to for a quick dinner. I admit I liked the old style potatoes compared to the newer ones, but overall a good little place to pick up and go lunch/dinner.

Our family loves this place. Our favorite fast food hands down. The food is always fresh and delicious, the service is great, and the prices are reasonable. I do wish they had more room to dine in at the Ajax location. Vegetarian options: Great vegetarian wraps and salads. Would love to see falafel on the menu.

Most of the time service and food great, but several times I ve been in, employees have not been washing there hands before touching food. Should be trained of proper good handling And the way it was wrapped up ridiculous, it all fell out. Waste of money.

My husband and I stopped today and ordered take out for dinner. Chicken souvlaki dinner and pork gyro dinner. The food reminded me of my.moms cooking. The pork gyro tasted like roasted pork that was perfectly seasoned and very little fat. The rice was full of flavor with peas and carrots. The carrots were sweet. The Greek salad dressing was flavourful. The chicken souvlaki was marinated, seasoned and cooked perfectly. So tender, juicy with a hint of lemon. The potatoes were lemon roasted and seasoned perfectly.

We have since the new owners took over last 2-years, the place has turned from a 1-2 start to at least 4. For a long time we stopped ordering, now it is our 1st choice for Greek food.

First time here, enjoyed the veggie pita I got. 2 guys working behind the counter. Only 1 other customer waiting for his order, and it looked like the one cook was getting a large takeout order together. My pita was just enough, wrapped perfectly, and the seasoning on the fries was so good. Would visit again.

Been enjoying Greek freak religiously since they opened but they seem to be going down hill.. We got the chicken dinner with rice and potatoes. The rice was under seasoned and over cooked, our pita bread was extremely soggy, and chicken was under seasoned and burnt. Also got fries, which were also undercooked?? Crunchy for the wrong reasons :| Anyways.. plz get it together thank you

Amazing customer service. I placed an order through Uber eats and unfortunately a couple of items were missing and I gave the store a call. Although I was upset, Mr. B (Im sorry I dont know how to spell his name) came up with many resolutions for me and he was able to make up for the whole situation. Im sorry for how I responded the first time, but Im so grateful that they stick to their promises as well. Thank you for the great food and customer service as always!

We placed a Catering Order for our company meeting. The food was delicious and hot. They helped us to choose options for special vegetarian diet. They wrapped up everything nicely with vegetarian stuff separately. Kudos to you guys! Looking forward to order again!

This is the only greek place that we always go, never had an issue with their food, good portion, food is delicious i did place an order over the phone to pick up a food for dinner and i ve been told it s gonna be half an i said perfect it works since i m still at work and they close at 10 so i was only late for probably 5-10 mins when i get home food is extremely cold i feel like they prepared is super early cuz when i get there they are not busy just 1 uber eats order we are so disappointed everything is cold and soggy freak pita they didn t wrap properly we had to reheat everything freak fries is cold and soggy i really feel like they prepared the food for so long and its been sitting there totally disappointed had to heat up everything instead of seating eating my food since its long day for me because of work spend $70 and the food is like that nothing is wrong with the taste everything taste good is just that our food is cold and soggy .

I ordered the pork souvlaki dinner with Greek Salad, rice, and roasted potatos online through Uber Eats and picked it up from the Ajax location on Bayly. It was cooked in a timely manner, the man at the restaurant was very helpful and friendly and the food was amazing! The best Greek food I ever had! This will be my go to place for Greek food!

They serve delicious food prepared in hygenic atmosphere, staff members are very attentive, a good place to order and you will never get disappointed.

Super friendly staff, big portions and decent prices. Very clean, and neat. Cozy atmosphere, not the biggest place, so get there early if you plan to eat in. Sometimes the consistency of the skewers are not there. Some are cooked perfect, others a bit overcooked and end up being dry. Overall though, a great place to dine.

Not sure whats happened to this place. When it first opened, it was incredible quality, taste and value. But recently, I spent $90 for a family chicken + pork meal and they completely forgot to give us our greek salads. Because i was hosting, I didnt have time to call and explain what happened. This isnt the reason though why I am giving them 2 stars. The taste and quality have gone down substantially. The rice was bland and the vegetables were literally the mixed frozen vegetables you get from the grocery store. The chicken and pork souvlaki skewers were overcooked and difficult to chew. I have heard owners changed in recent years...but didnt expect the quality to change either. Ill be sticking with Greek Tycoon from now on, its my fault for steering away.

I recently ordered takeout tonight from The Greek Freak, and it was my first time ever trying it. The portions were great especially for price that you pay for, and the food was delicious. Chicken was well seasoned and the rice and Pita were a great pairing. Unfortunately, I think the Tzatziki is a bit too tangy and the potatoes were a bit salty. But what was the most upsetting, was the fact that I had ordered Greek fries and paid extra for them, but they weren t anywhere in the bag or the container I would order from them and recommend again in the future.

@Ajax: The chicken souvlaki pita is a bit dry for me. Be more generous with the sauce and it will be a lot better.

Food is very yummy! Their pitas are delicious, make a point of getting the Freak pita *insert Greek equivalent of Mamma mia here* Pork is juicy, which so many places seem to struggle with. Staff are kind, orders are prompt...great place!

The place is very clean and all the food is fresh and very tasty. We ordered the chicken and pork souvlaki and the tzatziki sauce. It was delicious. The portions were big and fulfilling..We loved that so many people had ordered big family dinners (98$ for 16 portions I think it was)and they were picking up while we were waiting for our food. Definitely will go back.

It was good, but not great. Potatoes were nice. Greek salad is ok, giant wedges of unripe tomato. Chicken souvlaki is very good. Tender. Pork was honestly awful. So much fat, some were incredibly hard to chew and honestly inedible to me, unless you are into that kind of grisly texture. It seemed cooked on the outside, yet it was very pink inside, so that also threw me off. I dont know why there is canned/frozen mixed veg in the rice, that is unnecessary. I most likely will not return.

Just had a Gyro combo...was delicious.

We were there 30 mins before closing. Our first time there and asked if they do half gyro and half chicken the guy said yes. Placed the order and then saw him put the food on the grill. He said it was pork stick. I said sorry I may have mis understood. He proceeds to correct it. Then demands I pay extra to which I agreed. However, he was so disrespectful and called me crazy. I asked him why he said said and before he could answer another co worker of his came in and apologized. Apparently the one who called me crazy is the manager. I m not sure why he would behave like this to anyone. But that person needs training.

Very nice place for a healthy bite to eat. The portions are huge, with lots of rice, potatoes, bread, and a salad. The chicken souvlaki dinner can easily feed two. The salad could be better, it is clean and fresh, but bland, and the vinaigrette does not help make it any tastier. The owner is very nice, and the lady that served us was extremely nice and helpful. The 3 for the atmosphere is not a criticism, just a heads up for little looking for a restaurant to sit and eat, this is essentially a take-out place, but there are 3 tables outside, that can be used if the weather is nice. As a follow-up, I got a very kind reply from the owner, which just goes to reinforce my positive impression of this place.

I was really hoping this place would be good, but sadly, it was not. The chicken was dry and overcooked. The sauce for the chicken had a very strange after taste, which was off-putting. They are also using frozen veggies in their rice, which is nasty (like come on, carrots are the cheapest vegetable. Why use frozen????? ). Anyway, better luck on the next greek spot out here.

This place has changed hands. The potatoes were simply BOILED potatoes, not oven roasted lemon potatoes. The rice was not the same. Definitely not Greek version of Greek Food . I was disappointed yesterday. Sorry

The food was excellent they forgot my salad. Edit: June 18: We went back today for take out dinner. We ordered two salads with chicken and a chicken souvlaki pita. They were so confused with multiple customers. They gave us chicken and rice, no salads again. We specifically went there for salad. They also had given our order to some one else who noticed it wasnt theirs, then the cashier said it was ours. We live in Oshawa, so it was disappointing to get home and have the wrong order again. Needless to say, we wont be back for a while, tired of paying for things and not getting it.

This is the only place in Durham that I would say has good Greek food at the moment my only take away is they are kind of pricey, especially for takeout food, but the food here is really good

We ve been going to the Greek Freak for years and used to love it, but recently things seem to have changed. We chose the Greek Freak specifically because it was a notch better than the typical shopping mall Greek fast food restaurants. Used to be much higher quality in the past. But now they no longer peel their potatoes which were always my favorite part (even the shopping mall restaurants peel their potatoes). Also the tzatziki doesn t taste quite as good as it used to. The food just doesn t taste as special as it used to. I get the feeling the company is under new management or something and they are cutting corners. Been disappointing the last couple of times please go back to your old potato recipe! That will at least keep me coming.

I stopped by Greek Freak today and really enjoyed my experience. I am not sure what was better: the food, or the service. The pleasantries I received from staff, (in particular) Rylee and Kevin were amazing. They were very nice and gave me my order in a timely fashion, but was also made fresh. I will definitely be coming back and in the future and will recommend this spot to friends and family.

Worst Greek food Ive ever had. Had the chicken pita & lemon potatoes. This isnt authentic at all, stuffing the pitas with fries instead of what is supposed to be in it. The rest of the ingredients were so minimal & very little tzaziki, so it was super dry. Not enough flavour. Missing the olive oil, and Greek seasoning. Lemon potatoes not very good, and looked like old potatoes used w big black bruises. Clean, but not really a place you can sit down and enjoy your meal. Basically a takeout place. Very disappointed.

Food was alright but portion for a family Feist did not feed 5-8ppl. Chicken was good but pork was chewy. I wont be going back again .

I went to this Greek restaurant in my neighborhood to buy some roast potatoes to serve with my homemade kabobs. It was summer and I was trying to avoid turning on the oven. Never in my live have I seen unpeeled small potatoes used for roasted Greek potatoes. They were over cooked, flavourless, waxy verging on putrid. No sauce or lemon just dry served in a cardboard box ????. What ever seasoning was on them was undetectable except for the overcooked flavour of the skins. Nothing Greek about them. Glad I didn t buy anything else. Nobody in my family of 5 could eat them. Fast food style restaurant that insults Greek cuisine.

Had an excellent souvlaki gyro and Greek salad on the side. Both were well prepared and delicious! Lots of garlic in the tatziki which I really like. Great little place with some seating outdoors if youre so inclined. Nice find!! Parking: Several parking spots. More around the side.

It was a good-sized portion. The souvlaki is very good as were the potatoes and rice. I ended up taking home some of the rice and the salad. There was also pita bread served with the meal.

The food here is so fresh, tasty and the portions are great. The service was excellent and the washrooms were clean. A great first time experience!

I have been ordering from The Greek Freak for many years and this is by far the best food I have had so far. I placed a customer order that contained gyro, fries, hot sauce, feta, and onions. The whole meal came together perfectly and I definitely recommend trying this and hope to see it on the official menu soon. Thank you to Charlie for this wonderful meal.

The greek freak has been my go to restaurant for years but unfortunately the past couple times i ve ordered from here has been super disappointing and inconsistent :( for context, I usually order the veggie wrap with greek feta fries. The fries lately have been incredibly stale, undercooked and dry, which isn t helped by the fact that they came twice with the lemon juice missing (pictured below) and another time they were literally just a box of regular fries without any toppings at all. Also, today I got the saddest looking pita I ve ever seen, with only 1 tomato, 2 thin cucumber slices and a small bit of onion and lettuce. Like come on y all I m already paying $11 for a wrap with vegetables only (no hummus or falafel options unfortunately) so fill her up!! I keep tryna convince myself it s a one off bc i love this place so much but literally every single order Ive gotten in the past 2 months has had some kind of mistake and i can t take it anymoreeee. PLS get it together 3 stars mainly because when the food does hit its *chefs kiss*. will update my rating if I order again in the future

The food was great. The service was excellent.

Great sized portions and good quality. Really friendly customer service. The only thing we found lacking was seating. There is a counter against the window with some stools in the restaurant and some small tables and chairs outside so we couldn t really sit together as a family of 4. But they were really nice about wiping down the tables for us and bringing our food out to us. For sure we ll be back.

We have been ordering from The Greek Freak for a while and have had no issues until todays order. Our greek fries were stale, covered in bits of rice as if they had been packaged from another customers leftover fries, one of our two gyros were missing. Disappointing experience, will not be back.

So, doing this review and realized I shouldve take a photo. But the food looked too good to wait and boy was I right. Ordered the 2 sticks (chicken)and greek salad. Food was phenomenal and didnt leave anything behind. Wish there was a location in my hometown of Pembroke, Ontario as this would be a go to spot for me. Again delicious and worth your time to stop here.

This is my second time trying the Greek Freak, everything is good but this time I tried the potatoes for the first time and they were extremely sour and not as soft as I am used to for Greek potatoes. I used to only go to Asteria on the danforth which has now closed down and it was the best authentic Greek food. For the potatoes I m hoping it was just this one time that they are this sour

It was alright, honestly. I found that some ingredients were a bit odd, like a strangely tough chicken souvlaki and an overabundance of fries in the pita. The Greek Fries were a little too flavour-intensive around the bottom, so the acidic taste of the lemon lingered in my mouth long after my meal.

Used to be the best Greek spot in Durham. Still good, but wished they had kept their lemon potatoes the way they were, not the small potatoes that arent peeled. The rice & chicken are good.

Gyro was off. The meat was smelling like gas. I had to throw the pita to the garbage where supposed to throw yourself before you serve.

The freak pita combo is just sensational...this is a hidden gem of the GTA and worth every single penny

What can I say! The food is so good. We usually get the freak dinner it comes with 4 skewers of chicken or pork or beef. With rice and potatoes, salad and pita and tiziki. For 33.00 after tax. Such a great deal for a go to dinner option after work to feed 2.

This place is a joke. Came from pickering to pick up the food, got 3 souvlaki pitas and 1 chicken souvlaki dinner. Came home to the chicken souvlaki dinner having no chicken in it just full of rice and potatoes. After I called them they said we will refund you let us speak to the owner. I never received a call back and I waited 24 hours to write this review in case they did call to rectify. Completely trash service. Didnt care about the $20 more so about the fact I drove 15 minutes there then 15 minutes home.....30 mins to eat something and find nothing but rice and potatoes. Still waiting for a call back.....

Not good. I ordered a a plate of two chicken skewers with potato and rice, and I said rice various times as I was ordering but the guy taking my order seemed to be in a rush and only gave me potatoes that werent good, soggy bread and less then standard chicken. I have to say Im extremely disappointed seeing as I was really looking forward to a good Greek meal. I ordered side fries as well and can i just say even the looks of it was extremely unappetizing. Pale and flavorless.

Great fresh food

Great food but these guys need to move a bit faster. Cant take 20mims for a Gyro and fries. Speed aside, food is top notch and one of the best in the east end.

This is a take out only type of place. Reason for one star- there was just a guy (owner or worker) blocking the entrance smoking. It was very sketchy as if he didnt want to move out of the way. We peeked inside. There was noone in there so we left.

Great food and the best customer service I have experienced in quite a while. One item was forgotten and when I went back to pick it up, the staff more than made up for the mistake. It was my first time there and I definitely will be back!

Ordering online does not means your order will be ready by the promised time. Ordered the Freak pita with pork and most of the meat were undone (which is dangerous for eating pork). Fries were soggy and all tasted like oregano. Quality dropped a lot. Might not comeback, sorry.

Definitely call ahead and order. Walk in orders expect to wait 30 mins or more.

Ordered a couple Souvlaki Dinners chicken was all pink inside.. waste of almost $50 bucks down the drain.

Ordered a family meal for an event today. This is my 2nd time Ive ordered the food here for an event. Dont waste your time the chicken was barely cooked. The large salad was not enough to feed 6 adults. The Greek potatoes to salty tasting. Thank God there was 2 containers of rice. Not enough food! For the huge price$$$ will never go back.

Food is usually 5/5 but last two times this month way too much sauce , they added so much hot sauce it s was not edible
