Hakka Legend Asian Cuisine Ajax in Ajax

Not a good place to have vegetables noodles and vegetarian soup. I ordered hot and sour veggies soup was not perfect and not as it should be at all. This place is not for north indian food. Also i ordered veggie hakka noodles for which i confirmed while ordering about what veggies it will be there in it and i got just four pieces of broccoli in it thats all no veggies in noodles for veggie noodles Also they charged 15% service charge for just two person dine in. Just to bring two dishes to tables which are not perfect by the way.

We went there for the first time but had like ok ok experience ! Not too good for indian hakka food .

They charge $2.50 for steamed rice on dishes that already cost $16. Also their Uber prices are $4 more. Food

Came for a quick pick up order. Place was busy but food came in a timely manner. House noodles(chicken) and mango chicken (which is our go to dish). Food was hot and fresh- no complaints today

Ok. I was told to check out this place as I love Hakka food. This location and food, well.... mediocre. I will not go again. There is WAY better Hakka food in Markham. I tried. They also knew that it was my first time ordering and they did not make an effort to at least try to make it good.

we dined-in for dinner we tried veg Manchurian, veg noodle and veg Manchou soup and Veg noodle it way better taste compared to other Hakka legend location in Toronto. I highly recommend on trying this restaurant.

This is the second time these guys have given me veg instead of chicken. Need to drive down there again as I need what I ve paid for.

The food and service were excellent. I would recommend the crispy ginger, beef, and the spicy deep-fried shrimp and the Bombay chicken. All items were tasty, hot and fresh.

I ordered the a chicken wanton soup and it was the worst. There was no salt, no taste at all. I added the chilli sauce and the soya sauce packet that was provided but still no taste. It was the worst.

Love the food and friendly service

The service was BAD. Unfortunately, my visit to Hakka Legend in AJAX was far from pleasant. The fish was bland, overcooked, and lacked any real taste. On top of that, the service was unprofessional and inattentive, making the entire experience even more frustrating. It s a shame, as I had higher expectations, but this location is a definite pass for me.

Vegetarian options: They have all vegetarian options but if we dont want mushrooms in the Soup but they dont have it I am a Chinese food lover and I ordered many times from here and I am fully vegetarian but I got 2 times non-veg food. Food : 3/5

Ordered takeout yesterday, ordered some vegetarian dishes as the person invited was pure vegetarian. While eating dry cauliflower I got a piece of chicken. Absolutely horrified, Im just thankful that i got it instead of my friend who is a pure vegetarian. I know its just one kitchen and they might use the same spoon and stuff but pieces of chicken in veggie stuff. Obviously the beef would be going in other dishes too so please be careful guys. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian cauliflower has chicken pieces in it.

Terrible food, never coming here again. $80 for some very mediocre food. We ordered shrimp pacora which was a 7/10 at best. The Bombay fried rice with chicken was terrible. The chicken wasn t even properly cooked and there were only a few pieces. The beef Thai fried rice was also very bad, beef tasted terrible. DONT EVER COME HERE AGAIN.

Just moved to Pickering and felt like Hakka tonight. Very basic taste. Worst Manchurian I have ever tried in my life. Super expensive. Won t be going back. Should ve cooked at home. Waste of money, gas and time.

My sister and I went here today and the food looked like it was reheated. It was so disgusting and we payed $50 and they didn t even ask if the food was good. We asked for mild but they give us this sweet chicken like all sugar. The chicken was reheated then we ordered the chilli chicken and it was definitely reheated because it came in seconds. So disappointed

I have been a patron of this restaurant for many years now. Recently the food quality has gone down, and the prices are way more expensive than other local hakka dine ins. The last straw has been when I discovered they are charging service even on small groups without informing us and the machine still prompts for additional tip on top of the total amount. I am very disappointed by the downslide of this previously good restaurant.

I stopped going to restaurants that they want to charge you tip for take out!! Why would I pay 18% over my bill for a service charge that I did not use. Tips should be earned not to asked for. The owner should lower prices or increase wages or just remove the tip option from the debit machine. By asking customers for tip you just chasing them a way.

Chicken lollipop was not good

I like this place. The noodles, spicy beef and sweet and sour chicken is really good. They also are okay with me watching TV on my phone while I eat. The customer service is nice as well. It s a clean place to eat and spacious. Only thing is it was a little bit too cold. Its good if it s cold but it was freezing cold and I didn t like the rice at all.

Had very bad experience with hakka legend at ajax locations. Ordered food which was not prepared good. We left almost everything and paid over $90. I would not go back again to this restaurant.

My experience as follows: 1. Over-priced. 2. Food quality sucks. 3. Portions are small. 4. Dont even get me started with their $7 service fee Save yourself the time and money and dont bother coming here, it doesnt look like they care to bother reading and taking notes of their customers reviews so I didnt even know why I am posting this review. HAKKA LEGEND....SUCKS!!!

Tried the place on a weekday for dinner. Food is good but the service is pathetic. The servers are rude. Asked to shift the table and the server just left the food and water for us to move. They keep talking behind the counter with each other and don t seem to be interested. On the top of rude and pathetic service, they will charge you mandatory 15% service charge for dine in regardless of your experience so beware.

Quality is getting sooooo bad. Their Bombay chicken was the best. Today I ordered it and it was so tough that it felt like we were chewing tires pieces. Very bad, never going back.

I tried orange chicken and noodles today. Both were pretty good! Spice level and flavour was spot on. Quantity was very generous and ingredients were fresh. I have tried quite a few items but this one I felt stood out for us.

The quality of food has deteriorated!! We normally order the veggie hakka noodles, veggie fried rice and Bombay chicken. However, the last few times the food is not fresh. I mentioned that while ordering and the cashier did not acknowledge it. The Bombay chicken was still old and dry. So disappointed and will not be ordering again!

Its the same taste as all the locations, I am giving 3 stars because I ordered soup yesterday and when I went to pickup- I asked for chilli vinegar which is always given with it and the guy at the front said they are out of it I mean Are you serious? INDIAN HAKKA restaurant and you dont have VINEGAR in the restaurant? How are you even operating? I mean If you wana lie, lie something which should make sense. You will loose nothing by giving small container of chilli vinegar .

Pathetic attitude of staff and owner. Do not recommend to anyone. You can see many reviews of this restaurant highlighting poor staff and owner attitude including acting cheaply on condiments and not paying proper attention to customers. STAY AWAY!!! I am sure owner will given some I don t care attitude answer to this as well.

We ordered Chicken Pakoras with a couple of lunch specials. Lunch specials are okay (though overpriced compared to other hakka places in Ajax). While eating the pakoras I saw Black Meat inside( see pictures ). I called them to check if it is a piece of beef and they said they dont even have beef pakoras. I think this is a bad quality meat. They lost my business for sure.

It was okay food. But they dont listen to the customers. Asked for not spicy but mild hotness in the food. They gave me super spicy!

Horrible customer service. Asked for extra soya sauce only for the cashier to tell us they can t give us more than two packets. Sweet and sour chicken is flavorful and over all food quality is good. Terrible customer service ruined the experience Update II : The owner edited their review about Mcdonalds and Tim Hortons and made it more generic. Further goes to prove my point that the customer service is amongst the worst I have seen here and the management is making up ridiculous lies on top of that. Update : The owners response to this and to other reviews speaks for itself. The owner is obviously lying about McDonald and Tim Hortons limiting ketchup packs, its not the case. The response proves my point about poor customer service

Food is good here. Indian style Hakka Chinese food. One of my pics of restaurant whenever I am near or passing by Ajax. Their Manchurian fried rice and Manchurian chicken are one of my favorites. The Mongolian chicken is my second favorite. Usually stay away from the sweet chickens, they are a little too sweet, like sesame chicken, sweet garlic chicken , honey garlic chicken etc.

Decent price for lunch special. Kinda cheap on portions. A competitor by the name of Fine Taste gives a lot more + pop!

Just picked up the food from Ajax location and paid over $50 for 3 dishes dinner and to be honest. What a waste of money. They are so cheap on food quantities. Ordered chicken fried rice and it s like only few chicken pieces and filled with rice . And even rice quantities is like nothing even rice is so cheap. Please fix the quantities of food if you want to be in business. I will never buy food again from this location. Don t be cheap when you charging too much for food ..

Ordered Chilli chicken and hakka noodles through Uber. Such a waste of money. The quantity was good for the price and decorated well too. BUT THE TASTE WAS ZERO. No taste at all. It looked like they boiled the noodles and added some amount of salt and oil, with no spices at all. Same for Chilli chicken, no taste, too oily. Usually I love Hakka Legend and visited it s location in Markham many times with friends. This is the first time I ordered from Ajax location and it will be my last time. The management should take strict action against the cooks. We want better service please and we deserve it.

I ordered Manchurian vegetable fried rice I got flavour less dish. Chile chicken is ok. Sweet and sour seafood Soup was awesome I love it

Picked up thai green curry, black pepper chicken and chilly chicken tonight. Vegetables in thai green curry are completely RAW. BLACK PEPPER CHICKEN not cooked so again raw. 2 Chicken fried rice is ok. Chilly chicken has no flavour. After mentioning tonight that previously ordered chilly chicken was not good either and to pay attention this time, still not good. The quality of food has gone down. The time they gave was 10 mins for all these dishes. How can these dishes be prepared in just 10 mins? Horrible experience again !!

Hakka legend is one of my favourite Hakka spots to go to. I really enjoy the chicken pakoras as a starter. The Chili chicken and Bombay chicken are my go-to dishes. I eat here quite regularly

Came here yesterday. I have an 18 month old for whom I brought food. They told me I cant bring food for him, I told them it was for my toddler , they didnt budge. Seems a bit ridiculous , so I left and did not dine in. Also , before you tip, be wary they auto charge a 15% service charge.

Ordered pad thai and asked to replace chicken with tofu the manager was rude said theres an extra charge even though I said I dont want the chicken. Didnt care to understand the situation poor service and the food came cold.

Probably one of the worst tofu we had. (Deep fried spicy tofu for $15). They didn t even serve rice with the tofu. Probably the most basic thing to provide when ordering food in Hakka restaurants is to provide white rice on the side. Management was not helpful also. Quality over all has dropped drastically at this location.

I ordered veg hakka noodles , veg manchurian and veg manchow soup and honey garlic chiken. So all vegetarian dishes were for family thats completely vegetarian and when i served them soup it had chicken piece in it . Like seriously!!! I called them to complain about it nobody answered. When you cook or pack food can you please be careful about it .

We as a group of 6 had dinner at this restaurant. I usually go there and the food is good, but it did not meet the standard today. Chicken corn soup had a large egg shell on piece. When we gave the feedback to the waiter, she justified it saying it was an accident when the kitchen staff were beating the eggs . How can you justify something like that? Firstly, need to acknowledge the customer s complaint. It was clearly evident that the egg shell chunk was there. You don t need to give a discount( that s what needs to be done to remedy the situation ), but at least apologize. I won t be going there again!

They say its halal yet they sell alcohol there... does that make any sence ? How can it be halal when the whole enviornment is haram.... whole muslim ummah is lost. These chinise claim anything to be halal just for business... snap out of it . As a new Immigrant from India, this is the place that reignited my passion for indo-chinese cuisine. I had given up on experiencing that same taste from my home. I used to be a frequent customer of this place. At some point the place changed name from tangerine to hakka legend and after it came under new management it all went downhill. Years later I ate here again a few weeks ago, and I gotta say it brought back sweet memories, the food was great and the staff wasnt as rude... ill take what I can get for my nostalgia, thanks!

Even for two people, they added the service fee for dine in. Also, have increased prices plus no plain rice as part of the meal (have to order them separate). Food was okay and service was very slow. Paid around $60 for two people I could have spent that on a little fancier restaurant.

Hours say 10 but won t take any takeout orders after 9:30. Didn t answer the phone or notify me. They should change their hours. Use to buy from them a lot but never again.

Such a bad experience. My first time and will never be returning.Extremely rude Chinese girl with glasses over the counter. The entrance steel door has such sharp edge at corner that it hit very bad on my toe and it started bleeding. The other lady serving there said no it s my fault that I am wearing slipper. Should I wear some safety gears in hot sunny day before entering this place. Slow service. They can see I wasn t able to walk after that hit but didn t help me in atleast doing the payment processing early. Forget about the food. Never coming back here.

If I could rate them a zero, I would. Food was horrible. Fried rice was hard and had no taste. Chow mein was over cooked and again no taste. The fried chicken was over cooked, no taste and had FEATHERS! YES FEATHERS! The only thing that had taste was the Chilli chicken. I do not recommend this place. Ordered from here this evening - we were given both the incorrect noodles and rice. Called to place a complaint and was met with an argumentative employee on the phone who, not only didnt seem empathetic, but basically told us we were lying (have ordered from here for years, alas, no longer). Immensely disappointed; the incorrect order, hey, it happens, but the downright discourteous, deleterious, drudge will keep us from ordering from this establishment any further.

Good indo chinese food. Though they mention as Asian cuisine but almost 70% of the items on the menu are indo-chinese. Taste is good. Staff is nice and service is fast. Only thing missing was a kids section on the menu

Be cautious when making payments. It is important to review your bill carefully, as service charges may already be included without prior notice. In our case, we paid the total amount indicated on the receipt, along with a 15% tip. As I was putting away the receipt, I noticed that we had been charged twice for the service charge or tip. I brought this to the attention of the server, and although she agreed to refund the amount, the situation was quite uncomfortable. It would be beneficial for the server to inform customers about such charges. I cant help but wonder how many other customers have unintentionally paid more without realizing it. Food was Ok TOO little serving too. I don t support business who is not honest. Won t go back.

Food was ok, nothing really special. I liked the wings and szechuan chicken. The rice was mediocre and the chilli chicken was very disappointing. Seems like all the chicken is made and thrown into their sauces. Not sure...overall its ok. Not a place I would recommend.

Wife picked up take out we got hakka noodles (no flavour very bland like Mr noodles) chili chicken again bland even the color was wrong, calamari wasnt deep fried enough was way to rubbery, and tofu which we didnt bother touching after everything else was awful. To make matters worse I call back speak to someone she listens to my complaint and then says please hold puts me on hold for 10 mins only for me to hang up and call back again . The solution they asked me to bring back the food for full refund and so I did.

Ive been here few times, 2/3 times the food has been pretty good. However, the chicken corn soup I ordered yesterday was SUPER salty. I added a lot of water to mix it up and it was still so salty. Everyone who tasted said its inedible. Super disappointed. Sucks too cause we bought large size.

Great tasting food, good quality. Very friendly staff. Price is average and on par with other Hakka places in the GTA for regular menu items. I would give the food taste a 5 star however the lunch specials have gone up in price and the quantity is a 60% of what it was so the value for money has gone down quite a bit which is a shame. Yesterday I bought Rice , noodles, Bombay paneer, soup etc... and food qty. was reduced very much ... Paneer taste like very old and Hard .. looks like cooked twice with left over from previous order, also rice qty was very less, Soup was taste less.. and when ask for chilli vinegar ( which we need to Pay extra for very small amounts) they runout of it ... total waste of money ... spoil my Dinner

The quantity of the food was very bad Normally in any hakka we usually order one Fried rice for both of us but in Hakka legend ajax they gave the amount was not enough for even two kids Also service was that good, they were kept forgetting to bring our order at first they forgot bring the chicken then we reminded them then they deliver it but forgot to give us our coke and by mistake they charged us for the two coke which they never delivered

I don t usually give bad reviews but I placed a 50$ order on doordash to only get the smallest bowl of rice. Ridiculous to charge 20$+ for chili chicken and then 3$ extra for plain white rice but only give a small little bowl. What am I suppose to eat the rest of the chicken with? Unacceptable for any hakka place to charge this absurd amount for such little quantity.

We were a big group, ordered a bunch of appetizers and a.couple of mains. We have been to this place before but never have we been so dejected by the food. Specially a couple of items, the chicken lollipop and the pepper chicken, both were over fried. To the point that they looked extremely dark and tasted a little bitter. And even their chilli chicken, the fried chicken pieces were super small and over fried and tasted kinda bitter because of the over usage of garlic which were over fried in oil. We spent over 200 but didnt think we should have spent over 50. Unhappy!!

Food is good but prices have gone up and they have smaller portion sizes now vs before ....on take out not worth it.

We have been going to this place for yrs and their quality has now reduced and portions are much smaller now while prices have increased. The staff is rude and not welcoming. I placed a take out order for over $50 and requested for plates and they DID NOT HAVE ANY. When we asked for a couple take out containers they said there s a extra charge

A meal for two, they add a service charge (tip) to the bill AND the machine asks for a tip again. Unfortunately they hide the bill by placing the the debit machine on top of it, to encourage you to pay without looking at the bill . I asked our waiter (who barely speaks English) why he didn t mention tip is already included, and he said because some people like to tip twice, and it s on the bill . Food was mediocre, other Hakka places in Pickering/ Ajax are better tasting and priced better avoid if u care about taste and service.

The food was okay I find it was too oily for my liking. I find them to be overpriced they charged us more for the dishes than what was on the bill .

We ve been to Indian-Chinese restaurants or take-outs like Fine Taste in south Ajax, Tangerine in north Whitby though our new favourite is Hakka Legend in north Ajax. Not sure why we only heard about this place recently. My daughter, a vegetarian, goes straight for the veg balls in the different varieties of sauces. We all love their corn soups (veg and non-veg). We ve tried many other chicken dishes too and all well enjoyed. Customer service we have very good experience. An update to this review: I took 2 friends for dinner to Hakka Legend on July 23rd 2023. Mervyn was our server. I do not have any complaints about the service or the quality of the food. But I was not aware that they automatically charge 15% service charge on the bill. I do not have a problem with them adding the tip if customers are aware of this custom. Have been to other restaurants in Durham within the same time frame and have not seen this. I know some restaurants do it for big groups. So finally in addition to the generous tip I gave my service charge worked out to a little over 38% of my actual bill. However, I blame myself for not checking the bill properly before handing over my credit card. Perhaps when you are hosting others you don t want to be seen as staring at your bill and hence, I made that mistake. Just a shout out to the rest of you so you don t feel cheated when you are checking your credit card payments.

Im Hakka and this is the only Authentic hakka place Ive found so far in Ajax. Obviously this is the only place I go to now for real hakka food.

Pretty disappointed. I ordered the Szechuan chicken noodles and shrimp fried rice, both of which were extremely bland. Given that this is a franchise with multiple locations throughout GTA, I expected a consistent and flavorful experience. Though the portions were big the food was very bland and no taste at all.

I d give zero stars if I could. Watch out for inadequate food portions (food isn t great) and they added a hidden service fee. Maybe it s just this location but I d rather get fast food through a drive-thru than come here. And I hate fast food.

The food here is good especially the shrimp and chicken pakoras. If you are ordering for takeout be prepared to wait. Orders take longer than other similar restaurants.

Got the chicken pad thai lunch special. Sweet and spicy and NO tofu which is awesome. Large serving and affordable price. Would recommend

This was for takeout through Uber. This was the dry garlic shrimp dish, and I ordered it as a lunch menu with the rice upgrades to an egg fried rice. Im obsessed because for a cheap price, u get a whole box of fried rice loaded with so much shrimp. You could really split this with someone else if you wanted to. Fortunately for my big appetite, I enjoyed this on my own.

Food quality has gone down very much. Beef with black beans source - container full of liquid, very little meat. You either increase the price or reduce the quantity, dont do both at the same time. Food : 1/5

We did a dining and the food was very oily and not significant amount. Compared to other hakka food in the area I found there prices was very high compared to other restaurant. The worst part was service was very bad on a Saturday and they werent very busy. And the most worst part was when we asked for the bill there was a service charge and they also wanted a tip off that. We did end up tipping but they should tell the customers they were a service charge. We had 2 children and 3 adults. Not worth the experience and I dont think the owners care about the quality or the experience. Think twice before going. There are better options like Tangerine or Fine taste.

I ordered manchurian paneer hakka noodle and manchurian vegetable balls. I pick up around 9.40. Food looks good . But i had to throw all of it. I would return the food at store but the restaurant was closed. So could not do much. When we started eating i found chicken piece in my noodles. I dont eat chicken after my daughter born. I was not expecting that. I paid around $ 35. Didnt feel like going to the restaurant and complaining about it on next day. Vegetarian options: I order vegetarian but found chicken piece on my container

The fried rice tasted very good , but the quality of the meet ( i Choose to add beef and chicken to my fried rice , and it was not the best quality of meet ! Sure if they can make a better meet selection they will do way better ! That s my observation . Very good service, good people .good atmosphere for families in a very good área.

Very unhappy with recent purchase. There take out portions are absolutely ridiculously small now not compared to before. Spent $90 on take out and take out dish sizes were incredibly small! They have become greedy and charge high prices. Avoid...not worth the value

The staff are super nice I came in the get my free bday drink or sandwich and they all wished me a happy birthday was super nice of them!

Very solid Asian food for a good price, nothing too fancy but the food is insane

This place keeps messing up orders. They dont give white rice anymore with dishes, and twice they failed to provide sauce that is supposed to come with their chicken pakora. Very inconvenient, if you order, make sure to check items yourself

The food really sucks now, stale oil to fry stuff, ff rice have no taste Dec 8, 23. Decided to try them again, wow nothing changed, wings had feathers at the tips of all pieces, nasty no more take out!! Mi done with dem

Not a bad little place!

One of the worst experiences never drink the Manchurian soup as it literally had chunks of pure clear cornstarch which has posted a video of. The service was horrible. The food tasted like it was old and microwaved and upset my stomach. Definitely will not be going back definitely will not be going back
