5 Harwood Ave S, Ajax, ON L1S 2C1, Canada
HONEST RESTAURANT now open in Ajax, ON. We serve Indian Vegetarian food, our flagship products are Pav bhaji, Pulav, Indian (Punjabi), Chinese, Snacks etc.
Good food , okay atmosphere, and good service. We were there for a quick bite . The soup was good , but it felt like salt was less in both soup and fried rice.
I've been here twice in the past 2 weeks, I ordered the veg thali both times, it was so fresh and delicious! The first time dined in and the service was very nice and the second time I had take out and the take out service including the container was amazing. Highly recommend.
Edit to comment - 2 nd visit dine in and ordered 4 items Pav bhaji - bhaji was stale Chaat papdi was the only good item Chilli garlic noodles charging $14 for veg noodles without any veggies present except for 2 pieces of carrot and green pepper Bahubali sandwich is a rip off layers of bread on each other with green chutney on each layer and half tomato chaged $15 for that . The worst part was the fact that my kids fell sick vomits and diarrehea and adults had stomatch craps , still trying to wrap my head around veg food not handled properly leading to this . 1 st Visit take out Just wow , the chaat papdi was unbelievable yummy . I think they make the papdi in house it was just so fresh , crispy and overall delicious . Cant wait to try the other menu items .
Best place for veg meal.lots of options to choose from. The dosas are amazing, pav bhari is awesome And loved the pani pori. Dahi pori I found too sweet but overall the food is really good!
Ordered samosa chat and Schezwan noodles. Samosa chat was great but noodles were not upto the mark. The portion was huge but lacked flavour and it is a bit expensive too for that kind of taste . This is my second time to this restaurant and unfortunately ended up as a not so great experience!
We were very excited to visit this location and it turned out to be the most disappointing experience, we may have visited on a bad day. Pav-Bhaji: 1/5 (the most famous dish and yet the most disgusting… highly under seasoned, tasted worse than the frozen ones) Paneer Chilly Dry: 1/5 (It was just smoked paneer and Green Pepper) Mysore Masala Dosa: 2/5 (Sambar tasted stale after it cooled down a little bit, and their masala was bland -shouldn’t be when it’s Mysore Masala) Cold Cocoa: 1/5 (it’s supposed to be rich and creamy but not at all, in fact it had a weird aftertaste -two out of three of us who ordered it could not drink more than a few sips) Bahubali Sandwich:3.5/5 (it tastes good but we expected huge and loaded sandwich given the name and the price, which it wasn’t) Bhakhri Pizza: 5/5 (Made us feel nostalgic) Schezwan Fried Rice: 5/5 (Delicious!!) The staff were decent and easy to approach, unfortunately that cannot make up for either the bad food or uncomfortable seating…
Easily accessible from Highway 401. I have compared this location to the other Honest branches. Among all 3–4 branches, this one I like the most since the staff was helpful and everything was prepaired with a balance test and an authentic taste of back-home street food. I had ordered Bahubali Sandhwitch, Bombay cheese Vadapan, Dabeli, and Tava Pulav. Since I'm allergic to tomatoes, I addressed that when I was ordering the food. They took this as a serious note and prepared the food carefully with instructions, which sounds great to me. Usually Indian restaurateurs are not that careful with allergic foods, especially any Indian fast food chain, but this one they considered, which makes me amazed. All the best to the owner and staff for continuing this type of service and attention to their customers. Thanks
Very good food. Tasty and good portions. Dosa is the best. Prices are decent. Update Aug 2024: Food quality reduced. Prices same / slightly up but that is understandable. No longer a “good” place. Decent, not bad. Update Sept 07, 2024: Ordered Masala papad for $3.5 plus tax expecting a loaded papad with lots of toppings for that price and reveived 1/4th of our expectations. Just a small quantity of onions and tomatoes reduced our “quality” for this shop. Sad again. It was our go-to shop at one point.
Food is nice.
Food was delicious. Must try Food
Nice people and colourful ambiance. Food is good. Thank you.Hasan
Vegetarian options: All options are veg Parking: Parking beside restaurant Food : 5/5 |
Tasty food at great price. Very busy place
They were very friendly and helpful. My father has dementia and the staff was very accommodating and considerate Vegetarian options: Both dishes were great
Vegetarian options: Delicious food, good place :) Food
Food and service is always great.
Amazing vada pav, reminds you of Mumbai !!!
We tried their faloodas. They have variety of options and they are the best !! Highly recommended.
Best option for Swaminarayan and Jain in Durham region. Taste is awesome and our regular go to place. Vegetarian options: All vegetarian. Parking: Lot of parking at back side of restaurant
Food was good and i like special pizza at most.
I would say wow .very good Indian food . Must visit.
Great food! Also love the swaminarayan food availability
I really loved my great experience at honest. There was great service and fi9d. Absolutely loved it! Worth a visit 10/10.
I hate to give any business 1 star. Food not up to the mark. Pricing is very expensive. For lord sake atleast give proper customer service. Never coming back nor recommend.
BhagiPouv is not Indian testy Like Canadian style bilkul light I dont like because we ordering is Indian Test so ???
The food was delicious and great customer service.
Kid-friendliness: Staff are very helpful and knowledgeable Food
I ordered bahubali sandwich which is fully loaded with vegetables, cheese, butter and chutney and specially I like that fries which is very crispy and with there special spices.
Best food in Ajax
Not as good other Honest around GTA area. Food taste is different and not so great
Fantastic food
Considering its Durham not bad.
Cold dosa, wouldnt recommend.
Today afternoon we eat Chaap in one of Mississauga restaurant and it was to oily and heavy for us so I was looking for something light n non greasy for dinner. so we decided to go to Honest at Ajax. Honest food was really very good. Their quantity of food was also a lot. We ordered Dosa, and as we are vegan so I asked them to make it without butter. We really enjoyed the food and service. Dosa was very crunchy and tasty. Thank you
Food was very poor quality. Spices were missing. Food
Tasty food. Friendly staff. Only thing I donot agree is option of tip popping up at the time of payment in a self-serve restaurant where you to place an order at the counter, pick up your own water, spoons, forks, Knives, plates etc and also clean the table and clear the trash. Vegetarian options: Excellent Indian street food options
Vegetarian options: Good food. Great prices Food
My daughter loves the cheese chutney sandwich.
Takes a long time for small take out order. Please prepare to wait 30+ mins . The people are good to deal with but it s too slow Vegetarian options: All veg Parking: Free , behind the restaurant Kid-friendliness: Family restaurant
Reminded me of Ahmedabads taste super happy.
The Samosas here are to die for. Just finished having those! Taking home Pav bhaji and Fried rice. Lets see how that turns out Food : 5/5
Nice customer service.

Vegetarian options: Only restaurant which alters the spicy level as per outr request. Really appreciate the service.
Good food!
Food is ok, but a bit expensive. Very poor quality speakers :) , i know , but it matters when you have soft music and you enjoy your meal.
I would surely go to this place, very tasty food. Dosa s were delicious, Hakka Noodles and fried rice with manchurian were spicy but felt like having it more and more. Service was very fast and food was hot. 5 star and would recommend my friends and family member to go this place.
I am regular go honest Brampton and Etobicoke both location perfect test but in Alex no test in bhajipav even pav was not good pulav just put in microwave then serve they not making fresh funny they don t know how make butter milk
Really Nice place and good food. Do try their Bahubali Sandwich. Awesome Sandwich and the fries they give on the side are better than English Restaurants. Totally worth it. 1 Bahubali Sandwich is good for 1 person. Food : 5/5
The customer service was terrible. The food lacked the flavor typical of other Honest franchise locations. They also charged a service fee in advance without even serving the food.
Given honest restaurants popularity, we decided to go for a dinner. But, i saw this first restaurant where we have to pay first for our order. No servers in a restaurant. We gave them tip, still they charge us extra service fees.
Food is not as expected. Sandwich layers were not properly done. Everything was falling apart, cannot even hold the sandwich. Chili paneer has big chunks of green peppers, onions, and only few of paneer. Very disappointed with the food as well as service. You need to get your own cutlery and plates front and at the end you dispose yourself in trash! Vegetarian options: All vegetarian restaurant
Excellent food for a quick eat.
Very unique taste, delicious food Excellent service Soothing atmosphere Food : 5/5
Vegetarian options: Great food! Best gobi Manchurian! Service was excellent. Food
Not a good experience. below average food, uncomfortable seating, dirty washroom, loud television, plastic cutlery at dine in, major credit cards like amex not accepted..would not come back. 2 stars is for the staff who were nice
Water was served was not cold and serveuse was not happy to be told that. Suggest to keep water bottles in fridge rather than keep water on tables and served only when guests occupy a table. Plastic cutlery; plastic glasses and paper cups used to serve dishes in plates.- need to explore user/eco-friendly options when we are doing away with plastics. When plates were steel, cutlery was plastic some to about being a bit classy ! Nice to have steel bowls or containers or porcelain and not disposable snack cups in a sit-in restaurant unlike a snack bar or eatery. Music was too loud and annoying as one likes to have calm music that goes well while dining. Honest comments ! Service was a bit slow since the Cashier and server are the same person. Vegetarian options: Yes some variety is offered. Parking: Parking in the same lot.
Had ordered some take out at the restaurant yesterday, and it took me by surprise when they got it out of kitchen in literally 5 mins. When I asked if it was fresh, they confirmed. It couldn t be freshly made in 5 mins, but never mind I got it home. Even if wasn t fresh, I hoped the taste will be good. But to our surprise, it was really poor. Have been here a couple times, but guess will need to find some place else with better food. It s unfortunate but for the amount we pay for the food, least of expectations is taste and freshness, negative points on both!
I have been here multiple times now and I have never been disappointed! The food always hits the spot. Highly recommend!!
Recommended location of honest compared to scarborough one... 4.5/5 for vadapav, bhakhri pizza(gujju style choice), bahubali sandwich, rest stuff from south indian & pav bhaji werent upto the mark...staff was helpful was trying to cope-up with the customers.
Not a fan of the food combinations they tried and prices seemed expensive for the quantity.
Just had a mango faloda and chai. Pretty good. Have to try out other items. Place looked buzzing
Rude staff, zero customer service and highly priced. Not worth visiting this place, no value for money. There are much better restaurants nearby with exceptional customer service, good food and of course much more value for your money.
Food was good but service very poor. We waited for an hour to get 2 Masala Teas and the atmosphere was very clumsy inside.
Excellent test and very friendly staff.
Its a nice and average desi restaurant.
Delicious food, friendly service.
When we were ordering the Punjabi Thali and asking for a simple request (replacing dessert for another subzi) since a member of our group was diabetic, they wouldn t fulfil the request and put pressure on us to choose other dishes instead. With the lack of structure of their menu and snack bar atmosphere (rather than a nice dining experience), we decided to walk out. Wouldn t come back here EVER.
Amazing food I loved it. I also like the ambiance.
Good fresh food ordered pav bhaji, vada pav and pizza. The pav tasted fresh, the bhaji was flavorful and the pizza was a bit too cheesy but tasted good. Would definitely recommend and would like to return.
Pou bhaji is average taste Dosha is good Dry Manchurian is not good Food : 3/5
Excellent Indian chat, pau bhaji and faluda. My favorite was wada pau. Affordable yet tasty. Quantity is superb. Must visit. Great job guys.
Extremely underwhelming experience given that we d heard a lot about this place. I only rated it 2/5 and not 1 because the staff member who served us was really polite. We ordered Dahi puri which was too sweet. In their defence, the description of the item is accurate, it s only sweet yogurt and masala as filling. No chutneys. We then ordered pav bhaji which was slightly bland but ok. Our third item was veg uttapam which looked like an over cooked roti with burnt vegetables just sitting in the centre. Maybe we didn t order the best sellers on the menu because we didn t want anything with too much cheese, BUT we did order items that are hard to mess up in any indian kitchen.
Ordered 2 thali and first time . The plates were dirty and food was in cups . Food was too salty and warm to cold deals. The roti was ok. Looked like microwave food. We didnt eat all . The tea chai was good hot. When you put in cups its smaller portions. Please heat up food we had rough night with all that salt . Also ask if we need something ! Try to be honest. We try again other dishes .
The food was okay. They could have atleast cut the onions.
Best cheese Vadapav, Chhole bhature and Pulav
More Expensive.. may be because of location
Authentic taste of pavbhaji same as in Ahmedabad .Amazing service.Friendly staff like Heena. This review was written by me over 1st visit 6 months back. 2nd review: I went 2nd time and thali taste was downgraded.Let me explain in details like subjis were not tasty. Before it was parathas now its just thin rotis.even all dishes which ordered were not at the mark. They should have to change their interior and sitting. It was very uncomfortable. Staff was okay but taste has gone may be chef has changed. Thats why I changed 4star to 2.
Had great experience having dining-in fastfood here cheese vadaa paav were fabulous.
I came to the place first and was doubting because it s an unknown small restaurant. But after I tried the food for the first time. I was mind blown! The food was amazing that I would come back and recommend to anyone. The food takes you back to think you are back in India trying all the famous street food. Thank you for such an amazing experience.
Too salty ...reheated gravies, rice...dont burn your cash going for lunch thali here
Lost its taste Honest is no more honest.. Felt like I ate half baked Frozen food Food : 1/5
Ordered Veg Fried rice, Manchow Soup and Manchurian. Quantity was very less. 8 pieces of manchurian. Half cooked veg fried rice and manchow soup didn t have any taste. Worst experience of having food in entire Canada. They charged around $50. For only 3 items. Parking: 4-5 designated parking lot in front of restaurant and those were also empty because of the quality of food.
Fantastic food ever. I have tried pav bhaji and Vada pav almost everywhere but this place is the best best best Food
Amazing place to eat. The food is exceptionally good. The service is excellent. Highly recommended, you will love it Vegetarian options: Really really good food.
Fantastic food and service. Must visit!!!!
Amazing place,excellent food,quick service.
Nice
Review from South India perspective Very bad. Dont visit and waste your hard earned money. Noodles poor ( very bad) Gobi poor ( very bad) Baahubali Sandwich ( complete waste of money ) Pulav very bad Vada pav was okay Falooda was okay but expensive not worth the price
Had an authentic punjabi thali. Loved the flavors! Other chat items and falooda was great as well.
Not a great place to dine. Absolutely no service, pay before you eat, food is not upto the mark. Price is a rip off. I wouldnt recommend:(
I order noodles and dosa Noodles were okay but dosa was really bad. I have tried gurulakshmi, annalakshmi and Madras masala all of them had amazing dosas but this place was no where near them. Also prices are on higher side compared to quality.
Good place for Dine in and Takeaway
The onions served with Pav bhaji was stale. Never going back to this place again..
Average
Thanks for making our valentines day special amazing food as always and our only choice whenever we crave for Indian street food
Super tasty food!
Bahubali sandwich was not that good
I took out Bahel Puri, food was excellent, they can do better job at interior Color s, it was good experience I will give
We ordered the Bahubali sandwich and Pav bhaji. The sandwich is named appropriately. Its HUGE! I dont think one person can eat that in a single sitting. Tastes great! Bhaji was good but the pav were average. Soggy and chewy. Vegetarian options: Its a vegetarian restaurant Parking: There are a few parking spots in front of the restaurant but you will definitely find an empty spot in the next lot.
Always love the food here
Hot badam milk was
Name is honest.. but the place isnt honest at all... Asked for a pav bhaji dosa with no onion.. and they gave one with onions... Called the person and said we asked for one with onion and pls replace it.. they brought another one which again had onions.. not sure how can they be so careless...
There was lots of warmth in the restaurant from the time I stepped in. I dont know if it was the vibrant colors or the weather outside. I paced an order for a chaat and me and my husband and I waited in the restaurant to collect our irder as it was take out. The customer service was good. However, the order took a long time to come. But I cant complain as the chaat was very fresh, crunchy and the quantity was worth the price. Vegetarian options: This is a vegetarian restaurant serving mostly south Indian food as well as Indian street food. Parking: Parking is available in the back of restaurant as well in the plaza next to the restaurant.
Went there after reading their reviews, food was good as we ordered Punjabi thali which had Gujrati taste(sweet) that was unexpected. I was not satisfied with their services though waited 30-45minutes after ordening because they were busy serving delivery orders, and we were the only dine in customers at that time. A gentleman (I am assuming he is the owner) ask us to dine on the smaller tables and didn t even looked at us while we were waiting, maybe that s the reason we re the only dine in customers. will never go back there. Vegetarian options: Its a vegetarian restaurant
Honest is becoming more of a disappointment after each visit. The food was so aweful, couldn t finish even one dish. No ambience in the place, could have definitely used some music.
Really good food. Went with family and got the Punjabi thalis. They made the food fresh when we ordered and the service was great. Vegetarian options: Fully vegetarian food.
Friendly
The food was delicious. ordered the dahi puri, vada pav, and pav baji. Really happy with this places service! They spent the time to offer suggestions and check in to see how things were going. We received a free dish of samosas from them. The samosa was delicious! It was sweltering and new. Will undoubtedly be coming back! As their firm expands, I hope theyll keep providing excellent service to their clients.
Food is good ... customer service awesome
I was looking for some Authentic Indo-Chinese fusion food last night, so i went to this place, Honestly the food wasnt that great I liked the Manchurian balls but the Fried rice was a huge disappointment. The onions were lil burnt I could literally taste it.
Try at your own risk
Great place for those who love masala dhosa. I will go there as often as I can. Seat in or take out. Food
Awesome food and great service.
Etobicoke : 4/10 Brampton : Just Ignore :( Ajax : 10/10 Food : 5/5
It was an excellent experience .. it reminded my Ahmedabad days of Honest same feelings, same taste . So much satisfactory .. thanks for great evening
Perfect Pav-bhaji and Tawa Pulav . Best in Canada
A delightful place to be in. Staff is amazing. Food is great. Unlike other Honests I have been to, I believe this one trumps the list.
A very delicious Indian food
I went there at tuesday noon, they were not at all busy , received nice services. I ordered Chinese bhel and Pav Bhaji, I must say chinese bhel met my expectations of taste in back country. also i order food without garlic and onions and would say they ve done pretty good job. one suggestion try to avoid paneer in chinese bhel
best service given especially by niyati.
Good food Pick up Food
Good food. One of the best Honest restaurant in GTA. Littlw far though. Worth trying it. We tried noodles (5/5), paav bhaji (4.5/5), vada pav (4.5/5), dosa (5/5) and bahubali sandwich (4.5/5) Vegetarian options: Pure vegetarian restaurant.
The thali that we ordered was good but the food portions were way too small. It was still very yummy and well made. Kid-friendliness: The food was the perfect amount of spice for me it was pretty spicy but not too dull
Awsome food. Tried Punjabi thali, and it was yummy. Its worth the price!! Original Indian taste ordered again today. All the food was tummy tasty awesome. Original indian taste. I am glad that here we can satisfy our food cravings. Vegetarian options: Lot of vegetarian food options Parking: Lots of parking in the back.
Food was excellent and it was the anniversary event ! One year of opening the restaurant!! Special thanks to Tim who
Good food and good service. Worth the money. Food
Visited Honest Ajax on 1st Oct. Food and Service was really good. Pav bhaji was exceptionally good. All other items also looked good. I would definitely visit again.
Best honest in GTA, must try!
Vegetarian options: Pure vegetarian Indian restaurant Food
Dabang dosa was the best dosa i ever had.
We loved their food and service.
Amazing food, service and family environment. My family and I visited and were treated with such care. The food was served in a timely manner and was delicious. A definite recommendation.
Quality & taste has deteriorated so bad. Very disappointed, never going back!
Amazing food, service & Ambience. All the Best
On an average taste of food. Not good but not bad. Place is nicely n seating arrangement was good.
Nice food, enough quantity. Parking: Good Food : 5/5 |
worst noodles ever i order hakka noodles the taste was not good dont try i would suggest you cook and eat. Vegetarian options: veg hakka noodles
I visited to this restaurant Thursday Oct 19 & order chat papdi but chat papdi doesn t have chickpeas in side very sweet also no spicy at all Also expensive too and they keep increasing prices I wasted my money I called today honest restaurant and asked to their person who answered my phone call why they not using chickpeas in a chat papdi he told me very rudely this our recipes I don t care if u don t like his behaviour was very badly towards to me as a customer I fill very insulting he is very rude don t know how to talk to the customer then I asked I need to talk to yr manager he said to he is a manager so think about managers like this how expect from the staff to talk to you So no more wasting my money
The food is good, especially the pulav. Try the cheese version ! Vegetarian options: Great variety! Parking: In the back, a few spaces in the front.
Great place to have Indian Street food.
Excellent food and service!
Lovely Indian snacks and munching fast food items. The service was great and ambience is nice. You can enjoy unique Gujarati style Pizza, Big sandwiches, Pav bhaji, Dahi sev puri and many other items.
For authentic indian food
Food wasnt tasty or I would say it wasnt as tasty compared to other Honest restaurants in GTA, specifically Pav Bhaji.
All North Indian varieties were tasting great.. I was tempted by all the reviews and ordered Dabang Dosa first, but for those with traditional South Indian taste buds, I dont think it suits well.. Roties were excellent and Bahubali Sandwich was meeting the hype, especially those fries were really crunchy and yummy! Chinese bhel was not as what we have expected, but when we made it To-go, kids loved it in the night (after those crispy noodles turned soft).. Really a very good Veg Restaurants in this area with awesome North Indian Street foods..
The Punjabi thali is good value but other chaat items might not be worth the price
Good price
They lack consistency in the food taste. I tried chinese there and would not recommend it as taste changes every time. Pulav and vada pav are my go to. This items are consistent when it comes to taste. Good pricing . Well it closes very soon . Would be nice if open atleast till 10 pm
So I reaaallllllyyyy wanted to love this place but it ended up disappointing. We ordered 3 meals for takeout, didn t like it at all and most of it ended up going in the garbage can. Food
I liked their Pani Puri and Pav Bhaji
Let s start by saying a very dishonest restaurant. I cannot give negative stars I will say -5 1) cutlery: you won t get any. You will get styrofoam from Costco 2) quality of food : poor 3) no taste 4) price : overpriced. Think of Costco kind of service. Basically, you order and pick your own food. However, a restaurant kind pricing. A complete rip off. If you are from India and have experienced honest in Ahmedabad. This is no where close to it. Save your money and don t go here. Frozen food tastes way better. lol Vegetarian options: Poor quality
The bread is absolutely like Mumbai Pav !!
Food was so good Loved the sandwich Vegetarian options: Excellent vegetarian options
Excellent food totally Indian styled reminds us of back home tastes
Excellent food , tasty dabang dhosa , great pav Bhaji, good for large family get to gether, we had 16, peole party,
We had chickoo milkshake , Veg pulav , bahubali sandwich amazing food fresh made , and wow milkshake we bought 2 times .... really appreciate the service there ,humble owners it was a good experience. Vegetarian options: Pure Veg
Lovely food , felt like eating somewhere in India . Amazing taste .. try Dabang dosa
