Came here on a lunch date with my husband and from the moment we entered the establishment we felt like we were an inconvenience. The host looked like she was hung over and didn t want to be there. As far as our waitress it seemed like we were a bother to her. When looking around the dining room, we didn t see a single staff with a smile on their face. When we did order we ordered the arancini, and tried to order a pizza that stated it was on special for $12 however the waitress informed us that the special wasn t on for the month of December. Weird, that there was no mention of it not being valid anywhere. We got our arancini (which was over cooked) and ended up getting our bill and leaving. So disappointed by the whole experience.

Excellent service by Carly! She ensured well taken care of off and made my special day extra special by providing amazing service with a beautiful smile. Thank you Carly :)

Carly was our server this evening and delivered top notch customer service. She is a very friendly and knowledgeable lady and made our visit perfect. We will be back and of course request to sit in Carly s section :)

Had a great meal yesterday but we couldn t believe how horrid the service was. We were greeted upon arriving and sat on the bar side of the restaurant. We ordered bruschetta, Cesar salad and butternut squash ravioli. The food was delicious but was regrettably overshadowed by the lack of attention by the wait staff. Service was sparse and slow. It looked like the staff were just there and going through the motions. It was hard to get anyone s attention as there were lots of employee conversations going on but not with customers. I think we will wait before trying again.

I enjoyed the food, I will definitely go back to this place. I forgot to take pictures of the meals but I tried one of the pizzas and some of the pasta. Next time, I will share more details about the restaurant.

USED TO love this restaurant until we had a horrible experience we ordered spaghetti and meatballs the meatballs were FROZEN COLD! We we turned off right away.

Ordered multiple meals for pickup. No napkins or cutlery in bag, went back to ask for a small container of freshly grated parm. They gave me the stuff that looks like it came out of Kraft parm shaker. Asked again if I could get the fresh grated that is served table side, but they insisted that this WAS freshly grated. It wasn t. Got back to work with the orders, two of which were gnocchi. In terms of flavor, I could tell it would have boasted delicious if not for the fact that the gnocchi was 100% RAW. It pulled apart like stringy melted mozzarella, and tasted like raw flour. It was not even close to the texture that gnocchi should be, and both of us who ordered it have had gnocchi dozens of times. It s never once been that texture for either of us. So we literally spent something like $60 for dishes we had one single bite of and couldn t touch past that point. It was a disappointing experience.

Dietary restrictions: The vegan options have become fewer Food

I went there for my birthday celebration, we asked to add pineapple on our pizza specifically but when pizza came it was dry and without pineapple, It felt like I was chewing the dough, no sauce at all and it even didn t look appealing, pasta was nice and only thing I might go back for is Tiramisu, it was delicious , literally saved my day but food was highly disappointing.

Our server Kimberly was AMAZING! She made the evening great... The pizza was delicious as always! Just wont order Calamari again! Pieces are too big and not cooked enough! I prefer the smaller crispier pieces!

We tried this restaurant today for the first time and we absolutely loved it! I ve tried a few Italian restaurants recently and this one just topped it. The food is amazing and you must try their desserts! The service was 10/10! Thank you for the best Italian food!!!

Pappardelle Stefano was sticky and overcooked. Would not recommend this dish. My first time eating at this location. Not a great experience.

Me and my daughters decided to get a late night meal and we were fortunate to have a phenomenal waitress. She was so kind courteous professional and conversational. She advised us on our meal and made sure the children were good throughout the night. I dont think weve ever been served so well. And she had the best name simply Egypt!

Been going to the IL Fornello restaurants for many years. Not sure if there was a change in management or ownership but never had issues before. Last weekend we went to their Ajax location for a family dinner and it was a disaster. We ordered all the food from the plant based menu. Our kids were served rigatoni bolognase with ground beef instead of the plant based version of it. It took them a while but they remade it. Then my wifes meal came with undercooked pasta that I could almost hear a crunch when she chewed it. Took them a while to come to us and say they were going to remake it. Her plate went back to the kitchen and her meal got microwaved.. we knew it was the same food because a piece of broccoli she had bitten was in the plate after the food was remade. So unless the cook got hungry and took a bite off her broccoli, we paid good money for microwaved pasta. By the time her food came back, she had already lost her appetite and we boxed the food, paid our bill and left. This was the service and food we got for an $150 dinner. At least we deserved an apology but not even that we got.

I had an excellent experience at Il Fornello in Ajax recently. The food was very good and our server was excellent. He took care of our party of eight and accommodated my dietary needs. As I comment later the menu has a variety of options for dietary accommodations and they take the time to listen to your needs without making it seem like a bother. Not only that, their dessert menu also includes dairy free or vegan options which is almost impossible to find in restaurants, not only chain restaurants. And they are delicious! I will definitely be visiting Il Fornello again. Vegetarian options: They have more vegetarian options than any other chain restaurant (that is known to carry meat options) that I know. Dessert options too! Dietary restrictions: They listen carefully to your dietary restrictions, in my case dairy, and accommodate menu items without compromising taste.

I remember the food at il Fornello was authentic Italian. Now it s commercialized and not prepared with love. So disappointed.

What a drastic drop from last year! Decided to celebrate a special occasion and went for dinner which turned out to be an extremely disappointing experience all round. The pasta we ordered was terrible and pizza was sub par. The service was non existent, no one seemed interested to serve. The food being brought out from the kitchen was placed on the table as if there were doing a favour. The guy in the pink shirt, probably the manager also seemed disinterested in the job. Regret going!

What a great jewel ! We discovered this restaurant by pure chance, on our trip from Montreal to Niagara falls and what a delight ! Everything is top notch: the service, the food and the gratifying beer. We ordered pasta and fried calamari, and our friendly and well prepared waiter offered us a great service. We were very tired from our trip and finding Il Fornello was a super well deserved delicious surprise. I recommend 100% this restaurant. Also, the portions are generous so you might have a reminder of this place the next day :-) Keep the good work ! kudos for the restaurant.

Excellent Italian restaurant. Had the gnocchi with rose sauce and added cherry tomatoes - it was one of the best gnocchis Ive had in a while. The bruschetta was delicious as well with generous toppings. My wife had the butternut squash ravioli, she said it was alright, not that great though - it needed more flavor. The chocolate souffle cake was a bit too sweet and crumbly. The people are super nice and flexible to customize each item (unlike some Italian restaurants in downtown Toronto). Ambience was good. Would recommend to try!

Just picked up a vegan lasagna and I m very disappointed with the taste and the portion size. It had no layers, the sauce didn t taste good and was a mess of a presentation. Not worth the $25 at all. Wouldve expected something better from a restaurant like Il Fornello.

We arrived at the restaurant with a gift card. We had the server check that the gift card had money on it. We ate dinner and then attempted to pay with the gift card but we were told their system had been down since the day before. I dont understand why servers had not been told the system was down so they could inform us before ordering. We paid for our meal with debit and then were told the payment did not go through. We ended up leaving our gift card and name and number. There would be money left on the gift card so sure hope they contact us. Left feeling frustrated. I think our meal should have been free.

I was expecting more. The spaghetti were similar to the one from Barilla that you buy at Walmart, not disgusting, but subpar for a pasta place were you expect homemade quality and delicious flavour. In addition, the portions were rather small. Tbh, I wouldnt say you end up hungry, but definitely far from being glutted.

Everything about our visit was WONDERFUL! Most especially - even better than the delicious meal - was our Server, Carly. It was boiling hot yesterday and before even being asked, she arrived at our table with glasses of ice water. Just the beginning of our experience with Carly. She recommended what we should get as we were sharing and it turned out to be perfect. We had the Hawaiian pizza and large Roma salad which were both Excellent. The atmosphere was Great too. We asked to speak with the Manager Vanessa to compliment Carlys service and Vanessa agreed that Carly is truly special and they are lucky to have her ... we agree! All the staff we dealt with were very friendly and professional but we have eaten out in many places and never with a Server as Amazing as Carly! My wife picked up take out food and when she got home opened it up to eat it was extremely disgusted with the quality and taste and ended up throwing it in the garbage. Not sure if it s changed ownership because we have been there multiple occasions without any issues. Based on the last experience we will never be back .

We had a date night at Il Fornello on a Sunday evening. We were seated right away and our server took our order promptly. I had the plant based lasagna and my companion had a margarita pizza with the caprese appetizer. The lasagna was quite good for being plant based and the pizza (albeit a bit overdone) was tasty too.

We thoroughly enjoyed our first dinner at il fornello. We had the bruschetta, Caesar salad, penne Capri and butternut squash ravioli. All were delicious and portion sizes were perfect. I must make special mention of our server, Carly. She had to be the friendliest and most attentive server I have ever encountered and she made our experience that more enjoyable. Thank you Carly for the exceptional service and your meal recommendations! You really set the bar high and it s evident you really enjoy what you do! We will definitely be back!

My partner and I came last Thursday for their $8 after 8pm special. The value for their version of a happy hour is an absolute joke. We paid $8 for 2 (tiny) arancini balls but on their regular menu it s $14.95 for 4 arancini balls????? The service wasn t great either - the servers lacked awareness. We could overhear the staff saying rude things to each other. They continued talking to each other behind the bar even when there were at least 2 tables waiting to order. We will not be going back.

My husband and I tried IL FORNELLO for the first time after seeing their 12$ pizzas! We had an absolute amazing experience. The food was absolutely amazing and the service was even better. So this was our first visit to IL Fornello, we have been looking to expand our Italian restaurant locations. We had such a pleasant evening. The service was friendly and quick. The food was delicious. The portions were great. So happy we thought to go here. We will definitely be back!!

Terrible food. Ordered delivery it was here in 10mins from pickup thru Uber and the calamari had a foul dead fish smell to it where the whole apartment unit stunk like the shore of a filthy ocean. Pasta wasn t good either, the salad was very basic for $20 especially when the vinaigrette had a sour lemony taste to it. Was great the first time we ordered so decided to try it again, very disappointed and won t be returning.

Not sure whats happening but resturant food quality and service level has severely decreased. Today we went for celebration dinner and food was very average. And service was just long waits. Food was kind of cold. Hope owners and manger really pay attention before resturant stops getting clients.

The food was tasty but missing an item and one item I ordered was the wrong sauce. Tried calling and was on hold for 8 minutes. Was told the manager would call me back but never did.

Service was absolutely incredible, it was fast, efficient and seamless, the pizza figs and prosciutto was fabulously delicious, the booth was comfortable and allowed privacy! The Tiramisu was delicious and generous!

Off to an annoying start when the 1st thing we were told was that we had 1.5 hrs to dine on Valentines Day....who does that?!! Luckily we were gonna catch a move later on but it was not appreciated at all. Build a bigger restaurant then vs putting a time pressure on patrons. Server climbing on seat to clean table opposite ours was interesting. Maybe sit and slide in to clean the table if arm not long enough to reach over the seat. The server got the order wrong so there was an extra wait time (wasting time they werent courteous to oblige to begin with). One tasted well, the cake was too moist but tasty and the driest and cheese less pizza I ever tasted. Happily prefer to drive all the way to Toronto and go to Za instead or just eat Papa Johns because honestly it was like eating grass off of a dough. Our server was pretty nice despite the error. Sitting next to the kitchen area was a poor choice because I could smell everything mainly raw stuff and something pungent. Loved that I could see what they were cooking though if I had to look for any positives. The ambience of the place was lovely and honestly if I had the audacity to return I would select different things on the menu and roll my eyes if they limited my time again.. didnt feel relaxed dining. Never ever in my worldwide culinary experience and travels, a restaurant ever requested that dining is time limited.

Quality of food and service have really declined here over the last 12 years Ive been going here. They didnt even come by to ask for water refills. Staff were just sat at the bar. Had take out, ordered the Asiago chicken. Whatever sauce it came with was DIVINE. I will go back for that sauce alone. My food was delicious. I highly recommend that dish. Can t wait to order again and try something else.

Food and service both were bang on. Apps were out to us in less than 15 minutes. The place was packed for a Sunday evening but that did not hinder service, food was flowing out there kitchen smoothly. Tried the fried bocconcini, arancini and meatballs. The meatballs were a little lean/tough but the other 2 apps were delicious. Pizza was as requested and the cheese was oozing and dripping from each slice when folded, which was beautiful to watch and experience/eat. Other mains ordered were the Rigatoni Funghi and Pappardelle Stefano which got positive reviews from around the table. Would recommend this restaurant to everyone feeling Italian cuisine with friends and/or family.

Oooh weee where do I start ! This place is amazing. The waiters are so welcoming and kind. My boyfriend and I usually order the spaghetti bolognese it s so good!! They re a little stingy with the parm but that s ok. I love parm with a side of spaghetti bolognese this one waiter really loaded me up with that stuff. Shout out to him he knows what s up! Wish I can give 10 stars

We went again tonight (april 19th) and had a server who Im sure was wonderful but I am a very specific woman and I know what I want so we requested to change our server to Justin who is obviously great at his job and knows I need alot of attention. We will be back AGAIN obviously. Vegetarian options: A much larger option for vegetarians than most places. Im not vegetarian but prefer a vegetarian pizza so I was very impressed

My boyfriend and I hosted a surprise 80th birthday party at Il Fornello and it was perfect. The staff that evening were super attentive and helpful and Nicki was great in assisting us plan this special occasion. We were in semi private room off the bar ( Il Refugio) and was exactly the right space for the party size we had. The three course set menu had lots of options and all the guests enjoyed their meal. Thank you again to the team at Il Fornello!

terronis is our typical italian go-to but since we were out east we tried this and its safe to say well be coming back. had the gnocchi asiago and it was SO good. not sure if the gnocchi is made fresh but it did taste like it was. did not have any drinks so cant speak to their cocktails. service was quick and our waiter came around a few times to check up on us, which was quite nice. thanks for a lovely evening!!

Had the calamari which could have been crispier but it still tasted good and salmon, it was perfectly cooked. Place was busy but we made a reservation first and waited about 5 min for table. Kid-friendliness: Hard to tell since we went in the evening and I didn t see any kids.

We had a great experience at Il Fornello. The food was awesome and the service was speedy despite it being a packed house. The Butternut Squash Ravioli is amazing and my friend ordered a second plate of the Seafood Linguini to take home he enjoyed it so much.

We were treated extremely well. I had made reservations for Saturday night at 6:30pm for 4 people. When we arrived, they didn t have a reservation. Turned out I made it for Friday night instead of Saturday. Nikki the manager, was exceptional. She managed to get us a table within a few minutes. We were very impressed with her and the service from Justin. He was exceptional. I would definitely come back again. It was a birthday celebration for our daughter in-law. Thank you Nikki.

Some friends and I came in for a birthday, and our experience was terrible. We ordered appetizers, which did not arrive. By the time we fully finished our meals our appetizers still hadn t arrived, and we had to track down another server to cancel them that wasn t our own. Our sever Kimberly visited our table a total of 3 times, and the entire stay we were ignored. The food was also disappointing, my fettuccine alfredo was buttered noodles, the shirley temple was made with soda water and grenadine, my coke was fully transparent and tasted like water. Our Gluten free friend was given a salad with croutons after specifying that she had celiac disease. Overall we were very un welcomed and the experience ruined her birthday. I wouldn t recommend.

After a minor wait, the manager Sean came in and started making room for everyone and assuring all would be taken care of. Apologized for the wait and proceeded to show us to our table. We were then greeted by our waitress, Kim, who was wonderful and very accommodating throughout the night. Food came right away and tasted absolutely delicious. All in all, was a wonderful experience, and really appreciate the wonderful experience thanks to Sean and Kim.

Update: manager asked me to reach out so he could get my review removed. Never once did I ask for the money back, as they offered. But he was quite worried that people would read this review and be affected by this. If not the review of poor food but the bribery of money to take down an honest review says a lot have some respect and own that your establishment dropped the ball. Calling & telling me you tasted the food how because you certainly did not come into my kitchen garbage then you swear everything is freshly made very poor service on your part. Ordered take out around 8pm Thurs Feb 1st and it our food was just horrible. It was cold by the time we came home ( we were told 20 mins) but it was also so bland, so rancid tasting it was just horrible. Maybe dining in would be a whole difference experience but 0/10 on yesterdays meal. We spent over $120.00 for terrible food & ended up getting fast food. I don t know if the tomato sauce used was old, but it was definitely rancid, and the cream sauce made my husband immediately throw up I also ask for rosè sauce & was met with tomato sauce. Poor experience. Very unhappy.

It was good last year.they are changed big time now. Portions are way smaller compare to 2023.last year every time I left with a to go box and this year I left hungry . I dont think Im going to go back. Sorry . Also my kids chicken fingers not fresh at all. Bad chicken and bad fries.

Great place for Italian food and any celebration. Excellent pasta, pizza, lots of delicious warm bread served with butter before food.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is really nice. Staff is very friendly. Unfortunately, the food isnt special. The chicken in the pasta felt like frozen chicken that was just microwaved. The pizza was ok. Ingredients didnt feel fresh and that was disappointing

I m a regular customer,, been coming here for years, I ve had just about everything on the menu, Service is great with food is amazing!!!! Last time I went there we had Vanessa, Who had such a great attitude, and left us with a good vibe at the dinner table !!!! Definitely will be going again and again and again

Good Italian food, pretty standard in terms of whats offered but still great taste and a nice vibe.

Have sat in person here and the food was amazing. Ordered out for dinner tonight and the pasta was dry, had no sauce and was not even close to what it was like in person.
