Patty Gyal in Ajax

Really disappointed. Made an order for some Pattie s 4 days prior to me needing them because I know it takes time to prepare. Lo and behold they were not done because the order was forgotten. Really pissed.

Pattys are really delicious.

Cashier was sketchy and unprofessional. Patties are okay but not worth the hassle in my opinion

Had a shrimp patty taste very good & spicey, however its too meagre (skinny) need more filling for its price.

We bought 1 dz patties and noticed that 2 was fat and flacky and the others were smooth and thin. Shouldnt they all have the same crust?

This place is great. Once you try the beef patty with coco bread you will not be disappointed. The patties are great, the juices are great & the service is also great. They sell you regular patties now and charge custom price. Very disappointed with my last two visits. Won t be giving them a third chance to sell me regular frozen patties from the grocery store.

Wow, just wow. I went on an outing on Saturday and decided last minute to google a Jamaican restaurant. I drove over and realized that they only sold Jamaican patties. My fault for not reading more carefully. Hands down THE BEST PATTY I ve had in a very long time. I bought 12 Beef Spicy Beef Cake & Salt Fish Calliloo and Salt Fish Lots of variety and the crust is 10/10. The close at 6:00pm and I called at 6:10pm and she answered. Told me to come in over since I was from out of town. I will definitely go back. I wish they were closer. I d be there weekly.

There is no better Patty. A must go for variety, from regular, to veggie, jerk, and ackee and saltfish. My favourite is calliloo . If youre in the area stop by and get something to eat here. No disappointment. Vegetarian options: Get the calliloo. There is also vegetarian patties.

I went to this place about a year ago. It didnt taste great based on all the hype so I stayed away. I was in the area today and decided to give it another try. One driving up, I noticed that one of the locked entrance doors had all kinds of stuff blocking it, broom, tent, electrical cord, bucket etc. I thought the place was closed down, before I noticed there was another entrance, next to the juicebar place. So I went inside and started talking to the cashier and expressed my disappointment at the entrance presentation. He was defending it as if what is my problem? I said it doesnt look good. Also the place was not clean overall. Anyways I ordered a dozen patties and some jerk chicken. I went back out the door to get the chicken only to notice a garbage bag tied up with a michedean spicy beef box sticking out. I know it well as thats what I usually buy. So I turned and asked the cashier, what is a michedean box doing in their establishment? He readily admit that their beef patty is from michedean! I said to him this is fraud - false advertising. He goes we sell all different kinds of patties. Now there is no disclaimer anywhere that 3rd party products are included in what they are selling. The dozen patties was $23. In essence, I went to Patty Gyal to buy Michedean for more than the $18.99 I would buy the dozen for just down the street. This is not right and I said so. He offered to give me a refund so I can go buy my Michedean elsewhere. I just walked out of the store and said have a good night. I have no interest in going back there.

I m not impressed with the patties I bought today. Got a dozen for me and my family. They were all over cooked and dry, so dry it breaks and crumbles in pieces .. Waste of money to be honest. Your staff needs to focus on quality and efficiency especially because you re in the food industry. Had bought a dozen couple months ago and they were perfect no complaints.

Underwhelming when youre used to Allwyns by Yonge and Sheppard. The stuffed jerk patty lacked flavor, and the ackee patty had hardly any ackee in it.

Horrible customer service! I was waiting in line at this place while the employee was in the back. He was taking so long, another customer came in. When the male employee finally came out, he looked at me and the other customer standing behind me and then took his order. I guess just because Im not the same skin color as him? I shook my head and was disgusted with the action. Will never go back! Patties and coco bread arent even fresh.

Pretty decent patties. We tried the spicy beef, mild beef and akee & saltfish. The patties were piping hot and I d have to say my fav was the ackee & saltfish as it really did taste homemade. Sadly, we just missed out on the freshly made jerk chicken from the barrel! If we had more time we would have waited for the next batch.

Patties are tasty but the pastry is NOT flaky and the filling is very low.... for the cost of these patties there should be more filling. For reference Ive had the shrimp, goat, mild beef, ackee, and callaloo patties. The beef was the ONLY one with a decent amount of filling and a flaky pastry

Spicy beef is to die for, slightly fruity. Pastry seems different, though its probably just because its so fresh. Buttery and delicious. Curry Goat is delicious, but skimpy with the filling. Shrimp and jerk chicken patties are okay. Callahoo isnt for me. Good people.

Purchased 6 patties (2 vege and 4 chicken) on a Saturday, as a gift when visiting some family and was embarrassed to find out it was completely uncooked and the dough was still rubbery. The pastry was not flakey at all. We were unable to hold the patty or take a bite, as everything was spilling out. I do take-out from plenty of Jamaican/Carribean places. I know a good patty and this was unfortunately not anything close to a decent patty. We had to throw it out as it didnt feel safe to eat. When I placed the order in store, they asked me to wait which I had no problem, I believe I waited atleast 15 minutes so Id expect it to be cooked when receiving the order at that point. Will not be returning

I d like to start off by saying I love Pattie s, hands down!! I ve been here twice, yes the customer service is crappy and there is no greeting or friendly atmosphere. The both times I ve been here I order to Pattie s the first time was 2 beef patty s. They are extremely hot which is good but unfortunately one of my beef Pattie s had a weird cartilage piece towards the ending which really didn t sit well with me. Besides that having consumed the Pattie s I literally had to use the washroom right after twice. I didn t think anything of it as maybe it was just a normal day having to use the washroom. Did I say I love Pattie s?? Haha I gave them the benefit of the doubt and went there couple days after for a quick patty. I found it so odd that the second I consumed one patty my stomach kinda hurt. I was still hungry so I went back in to get another one. Stupid me. The second I got home I literally had to use the washroom. I went out and a few hours later I had to go again. Couple hours later I had to go again. It was obvious what the problem was. I don t have health issues, I m always eating out and don t use the washroom for hours or days. But it was evident that the cause of me using the bathroom 2-3 times in one day was a result of eating their Pattie s. It s really sad because I love Pattie s but I will never try their Pattie s again. A patty is such a simple thing to create and make delicious and healthy and they got it beyond wrong. They really need to do a health and safety in this joint. Not to mention when you walk in and look in the back it looks so disorganized and dirty. They got jackets laying on top of box s and I could only imagine what goes on back their. Do yourself a favour and don t go through what I had to too. I have nothing again their restaurant just want to make aware everyone who plans on getting a good patty. It s not this place.

My family and I have been going there for a really long time. Today was the first time Ive been disrespected. The man working there today was just clue less, gave me the wrong order, gave me the wrong change and the pattie (especially the callaloo) tasted off. Tried to correct him, and all I got was attitude. (I think he was high) I dont know, but something isnt right there lately.

Patty is soooo good, staff looks and acts like they being forced to be there expect for the young man who is always making the jerk chicken outside, he is always very kind!

Very nostalgic for me especially growing up having these patties and a lot of these types of places have disappeared. its good to see someone carrying on the tradition.

Went in a week ago because Patty Gyal came up on Google as having vegan patties available. The friendly woman at the counter (possibly one of the Party Gyals, but not sure) said that they were out of the vegan patties but if I came back tomorrow, they would have a case for me. Im out of area, but happened to be going past the area again the next day, so I thought Id give it another try. I wasnt even halfway in to the store and the woman was already in the back getting the box of vegan patties for me. Now thats great customer service and Ive very rarely been remembered like that on my second visit. She was super friendly, and has been blessed with the gift of gab. She even thanked me for the support - very kind, I thought. The vegan patties are great and worth the drive from Scarborough. The pastry is nice and close to what a non-vegan patty would taste like (but its been awhile since Ive had a non-vegan patty, honestly). I was impressed. Next time I definitely want to try one out of the oven, because nothing beats the taste of a patty straight out of those cute patty ovens, right? LOL Best of luck on your business ventures and Ill definitely spread the word amongst my vegan friends who live out there. Ill definitely be back. Hopefully one day Ill be able to have a stuffed patty again, too, if you can figure out how to create vegan coco bread? Heres hoping!

First time and overall good effort. I will revisit when in the area. Nice ambiance definitely reminds you of Jamaica. I tried: Curry goat Jerk chicken Ackee and saltfish Callaloo Taste wise it was on point even picked up an actual piece of saltfish in the ackee one. Packaging was good especially the curry goat. Where I hope to see improvement is: Size of the patty Color Crust (that flakiness was missing) The coco bread too small for even the small patty. I didnt try any of the juices felt they were a tad overpriced. Just had a Cran Wata instead.

Came here on two separate occasions. First time I wanted to try the Jerk Wrap & they didn t have it, so I had a stuffed jerk chicken patty with peppers, lettuce, plantain etc. unfortunately it wasn t quite stuffed. Nonetheless it was very good and flavourful. Came back a second time for the wrap, very excited to try it & it was a bit disappointing. Love the concept of the restaurant though, definitely an see the food getting better in time. Really think they should have a kitchen to ensure fresh food all the time.

First time trying their pattys (hot, veggie and Jerk) and they were excellent & full of flavour with a tasty, flaky crust! Recommend!

Stopped by for stuffed Pattie s here, the stuffed Pattie s were just ok, and the patty by itself was alright however the lady at the front desk was great to deal with. Was looking forward for a new patty that stood out, it was a good patty but nothing I d travel/crave for. However the service was great, patty 3.5/5

Update 2023-April: managed to get a bowl of the coveted cornmeal porridge! Usually sold out by the time Im in the area. The young man at the cash apologized that it was thick this time but it was amazing!!! Note to the Patty Gals: Please make it thick more often :) 2021: Best patty easy of Yonge hands down! This is literally a hidden gem in Ajax. Parking is limited when theres a few people in line but across the street is ok to park. Variety of patties avaliable and the porridge is really good. Its worth the wait in line. Wheelchair accessibility: Not wheelchair accessible.

Ive been to Patty Gyal a few times and I am super disappointed. On a Wednesday at 12:15pm they have no spicy, mild beef or jerk chicken Pattys. How are you are a patty place and have no Pattys. I also need to comment on the customer service. The customer service Is horrible. If you have customers in your store I dont think you should be answering personal phone calls while people are trying to place orders. All in all it was not a good experience at all.

The food is fine, but not worth it for the interaction with staff. A portion of the staff are unbearably ignorant, condescending and honestly just overall unfriendly. They don t greet you, they talk down to you, don t listen when you speak etc. Others are fine but when they are bad they are bad. I don t understand how people can be so miserable to people supporting your business. I honestly regret tipping.

Great local place tucked away off Harwood. Get the jerk wrap or spicy beef patties with coco bread. The callaloo is great, too.

Elite patties - they are so fresh and delicious every single time. They slap whether you get the stuffed or not stuffed, even more so with coco bread. They also always have cool art on display by local artist. Woman owned with friendly staffed. Worth the short wait in line.

First time buying Patties from here. I bought 2 Callaloo Patties. .The callaloo filling was tasty but the crust was half raw and not a patty dough. Would not buy this again but maybe try something else. I will give them a second chance to make it right, if they can.

Love it ! The pastry is so flakey! Every family/ friend event i always purchase a few boxes. I see comments regarding customer service, the kids are young, and ya got to learn somehow. Be patient with the Yutes I went in one day asking for four beef patties. He looked at me and said, I only have 4 left. I looked at him and said, ok.... he then said,I wouldnt have any left for other customers. I literally laughed and said, But I am a customer currently here, and I want four. I got the last 4.

If you ask amy of my friends or family they will tell you I love patties. I was recommended to go here and I was not disappointed, the pastry is so delicate and the meat is seasoned amazing. Perfect for a snack, only thing that I may complain about is the wait but good things are worth waiting for

Im usually not a patty fan because I cant handle spice. But my Cousin brought a box of these to our family lunch. Super tasty! I had a chicken one. Pastry was flaky, perfect amount of filling. Not a mouth burner either! I dont have a photo because I ate it all! They were a huge hit!

I only tried the regular beef Pattie s from here and they were good. I like how you can get so many different kinds. The only thing is, the price for a dozen is a bit higher than some other places. I will still return again and recommend to other people.

I bought 3 Pattie s. All 3 were dry and burnt.

These used to be my favorite patties but unfortunately now the patty is completely different than before. Ive been going for a while to get spicy beef patties by the box. The flavor of the filling was the best part about the old patties. The new ones are ok but not as spicy as the original ones. I really hope they can bring back the old patties.

We have been going to this place since it opened in pandemic and it was our all time favourite place for patty. Yesterday, we grabbed spicy beef and chicken and they gave me wrong order instead of chicken it was vegetarian and I realized it after coming home so there was no going back as we live far. Vegetarian patty was horrible in taste and I had to throw it away. Lastly, they charged us $0.25 extra for a flimsy plastic bag which they never even asked if we wanted a bag. They are sneakily charging you extra without letting you know which was a big turn off for us. Those plastic bags are $0.5 cents every place and you are charging 4 times more that s ridiculous. Spicy beef was still good. Vegetarian options: Horrible taste

They are very attentive to the customers, pleasant young man and young lady working the shop today. They even brought our food out to us in the car.

Stopped in for the 1st time today. Tried the spicy beef and curry goat to decide if I wanted a larger order next time. They shop smelled so good I ate the spicy beef at the counter and ordered 10 more of varying flavours before the curry goat patty was ready. Yum yum. I ll be back next weekend for another fix.

If you like patties, you wont be disappointed with this spot. The patties are fresh, flaky, and tasty with many different types to choose from. The jerk chicken sandwich/wrap and coco bread is also very good. Will be back!

Especially IGNORANT staff refused to make the sandwich properly. Served the coco bread separately from the Pattie s. We ordered from here recently and the patty with coco bread was served together. Staff from the kitchen made excuses about COVID being the reason for NOT serving items together. They are still cutting open Pattie s to add additional toppings. She repeated she absolutely will not cut open the coco bread to insert the Pattie s. The previous guests complained of their orders taking long. The staff proceeded to become blatantly ignorant and hostile about her COVID-19 process and how all party shops are doing the same thing. This is a very poor representation of Black Owned Business in Durham Region. You need to do better!!!

Poor communication between staff & poor customer service; I ordered 30$ worth of patty s and one coco bun. I was told the Pattie s will take 10min so I stepped outside. When I came back, a new cashier was there and it was given to someone else and all the cashier did was shrug his shoulder and say my bad. The Pattie s were alright, not that flaky & very thin (as in, barely any stuffing) flavour was good. Overall, TikTok over hyped it

Some of the best tasting patties Ive ever had. I didnt try the fully loaded ones, but as far as regular base pattie goes, it was amazing. Plus the price was right. Ive seen other places charge the same or higher for from-frozen patties, but these tasted freshly made. Will definitely go again

This place is phenomenal. The Pattys are so flavourful and juicy but crispy at the same time. You can tell they are made FRESH. This is my go-to spot when I just want something quick, but filling with an amazing price.

Delicious patties and excellent customer service. I was impressed by the variety of fillings on the menu and that everything was available for purchase. From my first visit, this store can go toe-to-toe with almost any patty shop in the greater Toronto area.

I ve ordered a box of beef patties a while ago and decided to return to check out the other varieties. I ordered the curry goat patty and there was barely any filling in it. I ordered 3 and they were all the same. Very disappointing. I would not recommend. I also had the jerk chicken patty. This was a better patty and there was more filling. Not sure why there are inconsistencies in the fillings.

I had the jerk chicken wrap and jerk chicken Beef Patty. Legitimately best beef patty I have ever had...hard to explain the beef to pastry ratio and the melt in your mouth pastry. The wrap had some serious heat with slaw in the middle and the wrap was pressed using a panini press or grill and was crispy and moist. You have to try it!!! 6 dollars for the wrap and belive the patty was 3.00....but remember the patties are home made!!

Highly disrespectful and ignorant staff member who refused a paying customer. They failed to act in a professional manner and take accountability for their slack in customer service and waiting times. First time I ve experienced this type and quality of service. I m am completely disappointed.

This place right here has some of the best patties Ive had in YEARS!!! We pick up boxes every week and have gone through 3 in the last week. My mom made sure to fly out with 1 yesterday. Infact Im on my way for another 2. The kids enjoy them aged 3,7 and 11. Get them frozen or fresh!! I love it. I wish you all had more soap e so we could sit down and eat a couple and have a beer. Hopefully next summer look into a patio it would suit you all so well!!

I bought a dozen cold patties and 2 shrimp patty and 2 callaloo patty. Patties were not good. The shrimp patty dough Was gummy and the shrimp was whole with big pieces of onions. Even the baby said yucky and she loves shrimp patty. Callaloo was ok but was thin and so thick dough. This was a waste of my $50.

The patties here are great! Flaky crust and tasty filling. I usually have the vegetable patty and have wanted to try the vegan. Ive been frequenting here for the past few months and everytime I asked, they were never any. So this time when I went, and they said there was none, I told the gentleman at the counter, You might as well remove it from the menu as everytime I come here, you dont have it! 3 minutes ago NEW I saw this spot on IG and thought I d try it out as I was in Ajax. I tried to order off the menu but they had nothing available. There s a daily soup on the menu, but daily soup is only made on Saturdays. Jerk chicken; on the menu, no jerk chicken in house. The only thing to get was the patties which I wasn t entirely disappointed with until I ate one. I bought a few chicken patties which were a complete a waste of money. All dough, no meat at all never again! Completely disappointed. And I tried to get a stuffed patty, they charge more for it yet they charge you .50 cents for each topping?!? Patty Time in Scarborough, here I come

Bought dozen patties from dozen three was burned made me wait for 10mins which was fine but after waiting still received burned product.

We tried the jerk chicken, beef (spicy), and ackee salt fish. Pastry is excellent, flaky and delicious- fillings were tasty, but the specific flavours for each one weren t that strong to us. We would come back and just order the beef (spicy). We didn t try the stuffed ones- maybe next time.

Tried their spicy beef patty today and it was delicious! Husband also tried the curry goat and the jerk chicken Patty and liked them all. Will definitely return!
