Food and service need some improvement

Everytime I come here I have high hopes that there will be an improvement and every time I m disappointed. Staff is rude and dismissive and if I m spending 20-30 bucks a meal per person, I except there to be better customer service. If yuh nuh like people nuh work in customer service! It s that easy.

The woman who s there full time has absolutely NO customer service skills. This one is closest to my house but I will go out my way to go to another Caribbean restaurant. For the food just being okay, the customer service skills should be there.

Good food

We tried the ackee and codfish and callaloo and salt fish. The flavour was not well seasoned and while we know codfish is expensive, it was minimal. The fried dumling and festival was good, not too greasy. Smiling when serving would enhance the customer experience.

I had to see it for myself. The other reviewers were correct. When you go to Whitby location they give you a feast that fills you up for 24 hours. This location gives you a little snack. The people also in this location look like they have given up on life. I wont be back. This location does not reflect back on other locations. Whitby location is 100x better.

Been to this locations over 20 times. Food has always been good. But tonights was outstanding. Best Ive had in a long time. The girls gave me extra gravy and were great

The worst food tasted like trash the rice was clearly at least 4 days old, the chicken was alright. Service was by far the worst of all the sun sides that I ve been to

Oxtail and jerk chicken are good. But the lady who works there, seems like she doesnt wanna work there at all. She doesnt talk to customers. We have to get her attention and tell her that I came to pick up my order, I called in like few minutes ago, but she fprgot about to prepare it. Which is fine with me, since food is cooked and ready to serve anyway. So just 3 stars then .

I always buy from this place and love the food and services!!!! I see a lot of complaint about they dont talk to people etc clearly some of you lonely enough to be complaining about not having a conversation. I dont want someone talking over my food while serving me and sometimes I am so hungry that I only want monotone with a smile and my food quick!!! Good job ladies!!!

Its pretty good. Pretty good Jerk Chicken. Only downside is this location refused to do a side order of ox tail. The one in North Whitby has a side order

Jerk chicken dinner is a hit every time and don t forget the plantains .

For $17.39 after tax, I got more potatoes than curry goat in a small sized container. The portion size in relation to the price point is definitely one sided/overpriced. The pieces of goat were smaller than bite size. Additionally, I wasnt offered the steamed vegetables that is supposed to come with the meal and had to ask for it after the staff had packaged all of my food to go.

We just ordered their cornmeal porridge and it was disgustingly sweet and completely watered down. This location should be embarrassed. $8 down the drain.

I been hearing about sunrise quality and portion of food. And man they were right. I had the over price oxtail with 5 pieces of little meat on it. It was too sweet and peppery. Dont understand how they are still in business. Read the comments below. See there rude and unprofessional. Beryl pepper pot will always be the Caribbean restaurant around. Go and try them and you wont be disappointed.

Food quality has really dropped over the years, customer service has never been great but the food used to be dope. Now its all horrible. They always forget stuff like coleslaw or gravy with your meals. Do yourself a favour and just go to the Sunrise on Westney road. Better quality food and service.

I have been a sunrise customer before they franchised out. Over the years the quality changed big time. Tonight I had it for the first time in 3 years. Im so disappointed in our portion and quality. My plate is stew chicken. Its dry beyond dry. It looks like it was made days ago. I would not sell this to my enemy or my pets. Im a firm believer if I wouldnt eat it then it cant get sold. This meal is GARBAGE WASTE OF MONEY.

Customer service slow, and food portion depends on how well u know them, favoritism to friends. And if u call head office to complain, theres a dead beat rep that answers the phone, who you would wake up if u call, very rude, and they dont return your calls. The one on kingston rd, in ajax. Was slow the day we went, and the girl did not give me my 2 orders of fry plantain, everytime I go back for it, the dont have any fry plantain!!

Love the food, love the customer service. Very clean and well organized. Its now my #1 restaurant for Caribbean food.

The lady gave me barely any chicken and loaded up the potatoes in my curry today. I know this because I always order this meal and know what it is supposed to have. Never will again though!

Poor attitude....bland food....wont give a spoon for the chicken soup that tasted like fish...thankfully my wife isnt allergic...better places in the area...

Unfortunately, poor customer service seems to be a staple experience with many West Indian restaurants/stores. After a while, one gets used to a sour faced cashiers speaking in a forceful, annoyed tone. Thankfully, the service I received at this location is satisfactory enough to merit this rating. Every time I have gone I have received my order promptly .

This place is over priced and poor quality. They charged $12+ dollars for literally 4 pieces of oxtail. The oxtail was also hard. So underwhelmed.

Got the jerk pork today, the portion of meat was very small, bland, and fatty. Definitely not worth the money, I wont be going back.

Didnt even give me my food in a normal sunrise container. The oxtail gravy did not taste anything like oxtail gravy. Would never recommend this sunrise to anyone and would never return here. So disappointing.

I ordered Ackie and cod fish and it was a total disappointment; first there was no cod fish to be seen and the ackee was all green pepper cubes with about 5 pieces of ackee. No need to mention the portion.

Absolutely WORST customer service I have ever encountered in any establishment. This place needs one of those Chef Ramsay interventions. The food is not worth 1/3 of what they charge for it. Unreasonably small portions (4 small pieces of oxtail in a dinner) and the rest is all rice. Tasted like there was too much ketchup in the gravy. I just still cant get over the service.

It would be nice if you could place your order in advance but you have to go in to place your order. They will not accept phone orders.

Use to love going always got a good amount of food, however lately, we have been given almost half the amount of food we use to get. No matter how polite we are to the staff, (and tip) they always have a piss poor attitude towards customers. no longer will be attending this location. Change your attitudes!

Great Jamaican food

Staff not friendly at all...always looking pisded off lik you do them something. Said I wont go back after the first experience but like to support my black community. This time for sure I will not be back at this location. The location in Pickering is so much better. If you want people to come to your restaurant, you have to be more inviting and friendly. Management need to address this!

I walked in and there was people in line ahead of me and was asked what I was going to order. I didnt understand why I was being asked when other people were ahead of me and hadnt ordered yet. Then it became my turn to order and asked for stewed chicken and was told they didnt have it, so I asked for curry chicken and was told they didnt have it either. The server then told me what they did have but did not look at me while telling me so I couldnt hear her and asked her to repeat herself. She refused to repeat herself and the other server repeated what she had said. I ordered curry goat and the goat was not soft. The curry tasted as if they sprinkled the raw seasoning on the food AFTER it was cooked. Not a good all around experience.

Dont waste your time. On 2 occasions I have walked into this place and ordered 2 patties, and jerk pork. They were out of those items on both occasions, keep in mind this was at 6 pm. If you dont have enough food on had to serve your customers then you are in the wrong business.

Consistently good food!

Taste very good but small portion. They used to give decent sizes but now I only get 1 leg?!? This is small compared to other Caribbean restaurants.
