Just got back after a most satisfying dinner at Afghan Cuisine, Ajax (Costco Plaza). Neat and tidy. Tables were clean. We ordered the Combo2 Dinner which came with a salad, bread, pilaf rice, Chicken Tikka and Chicken Seekh kebob. We also had a Chaplee kabob dinner. Each item was very very good. In some places chicken kebobs tend to dry out but here it was succulent. Service was quick and courteous. Thanks so much to the chef and staff. Hope they maintain these standards. Thanks also to everyone who took the time to post your comments that s what made us venture to this hidden gem as someone called it. Parking: Sat 8PM plenty of parking. Costco is closed maybe thats why.

The cost of food these days is so exspensive. $18 plus tax for this lamb shank dinner with naan and I bought 3. I would rather pay for quality food than fast food anytime. I always buy the lamb when I come here. I brought my 10 and 11 year olds here to try the lamb and they were in love. We all have lunch for the next day because we were stuffed to the brim with only a few bites. The flavor of the lamb is lovely and I always love me some basmati rice. My kids have never had raisins in their rice before. They liked it. They though that they loved the Lamb Tikka until they tried the shank, they are now In love

The salad is very old The bread was very hard and old ,The chicken breast wasn t cooked very Well the sauce is too little.

Best Afghani food in Durham, hands down

Best out of best food

First time trying Afghan food. We decided to try this place out with some coworkers. We got the Mantu, which was SO good, it was kind of like a perogi stuffed with a really nicely seasoned ground beef, it was so warm and comforting! I loved the Bolani! It was delicious with a nice mild heat to it. We got the chicken tandoor and the regular chicken BBQ plate, both were great but I d get the tandoor over the other one. Love the rice and the salad which was so refreshing! I can t wait to eat my leftovers and get this again, with trying more of the menu.

Wanted to grab a quick takeout meal and decided to try this place as it was right in front of me. Got the chicken wrap which was just $9. Was pleasantly surprised by the taste and the freshness. Great bread, fresh veggies in a nice vinaigrette and juicy chunks of chicken! Giving it 4 stars coz there were was no option to get a larger wrap or to double the meat. Else all good. Will try it again soon for a full meal.

I recently dined at Afghan Cousin and unfortunately had a rather disappointing experience. Upon arrival, the service lacked professionalism, and the welcome felt noticeably cold. This set a somewhat negative tone for the meal. We ordered the grilled salmon, but it was overcooked to the point of being inedible. The fish was so hard that we couldnt even chew it, which is unacceptable for any dining establishment. When we brought this to the attention of the staff, they did not acknowledge or accept our feedback, which further added to our disappointment. Given the lack of warmth in service and the quality of the food, I cannot recommend Afghan Cousin. There are certainly better dining options available.

Afghan Cusine has the best Afghani food and highly recomenet for some one who want try Afgani dishes. the stuff was wery friendly.

Wow, Ive never had Afghani food before, and this was an amazing introduction to it! I enjoyed it tremendously, every bite was a flavourful experience, from the sweetness of the salaf and rice, to the spices that were used on the meats. Loved the hot bite that I got too! Delicious, delicious, delicious! The staff was friendly and attentive, and were awesome in answering my questions about food Ive never experienced. Im definitely coming back soon!

Good food!

This was the first time i came to this restaurant. The place was great. The food was great but i did not like the service at the end. We were 3 people had lots of leftovers. When i went up to the cashier to ask for containers so we can pack up the food to take home. I was only allowed to get one container and that I had to pay to get the extra containers that didnt sound right. I paid for the meal now i have to purchase containers too so i can take the food home was not happy.

I will never eat from this establishment ever again. Both kabob dinners were raw and tasted awful. The kabobs were pink and cold on the inside and smelt off. Staff was also very unwelcoming and stuck up for no reason.

I recently had lunch with my family at Afghan Cuisine. I am deeply disappointed with the experience. Despite the food being decent, the customer service left much to be desired. We spent more than a hundred dollars, yet the staff were incredibly stingy and unhelpful. They did not even care to ask us if everything was fine with the food. From the moment we walked in, it felt like the staff had an attitude especially the female waitress with chiseled looks as well as the man with the beard and baseball cap. Simple requests for extra napkins, water, lemon slices, or containers for takeout sauces etcetera were met with reluctance and a lack of courtesy. It was as if we were asking for too much, which is not what I expect when dining out, especially at a place that prides itself on Afghani hospitality. I ve always believed that Afghani hospitality is among the best in the world, known for being warm and welcoming. Unfortunately, our experience at Afghan Cuisine at this location was quite the opposite. The service was cold, unwelcoming, and far from the hospitable nature I ve heard so much about. This not only ruined our meal but left us feeling upset and disheartened. They were very quick and efficient to charge our payment method though. I hope this review helps others understand the kind of service they might encounter at Afghan Cuisine. It s important to know that while the food might be okay, the poor customer service can significantly impact your overall dining experience. UPDATE ON MOST RECENT VISIT BELOW. **ZERO Star** My experience at this restaurant was appalling, especially considering my previous poor visit. The food is decent, but the customer service is severely lacking. During my recent visit, an employee wearing a hijab and glasses with an Indian accent took it upon herself to open my bag without permission and remove items that were incorrectly packed. This was done with no explanation or apology. When I called to complain, she was unhelpful and dismissive and even questioned me why I would like to speak to the manager. The items in question were 2 extra boxes of salad which she could have just given me out of goodwill since it was their mistake to have packed it incorrectly. They totally did not follow the correct customer centric protocol and procedures to remove items from a customers packed and knotted plastic bag infront of the customer. This restaurant and their management is truly selfish and stingy for small things to say the least when the customer regardless, is paying for their business and salaries!! Additionally, the other staff member, who seemed to have a middle eastern background, was rude and unprofessional. When I requested an itemized receipt, she responded with an attitude, saying she had just come to work and didn t want to be bothered. The manager I spoke with was equally unhelpful and refused to provide his name or address my concerns properly. The disregard for customer service and proper protocol at this restaurant is shocking. While the food might be acceptable, the poor service and disrespect make it hard and almost impossible to recommend. I strongly advise others to think twice before dining here as it will surely leave a TERRIBLY bitter aftertaste which may ruin the rest of your day !!!

Appreciate that the salad is provided in a separate container when getting takeout instead of putting everything together in one container This is our new go to place for Afghan food.

My sister got catering for 15 people. The food was incredible. The beef, the chicken, the rice, the salad, sides, and sauces were all so delicious. Very generous portions as well. I picked up the food for her and they helped me bring it to the car which was nice and unexpected as well. We re going back for sure and encourage others to try it.

The food is seriously good. When you walk in, you are greeted with a very luxurious interior complimented with calm colours. Everything is super clean, like ridcioulsy clean. I tried the lunch special and its really tasty. Truly feels like a home cooked meal. Will be coming back!

We had family day dinner in Afgan cuisine in Ajax, we really had good time there, people are so friendly and accommodating. Ordered from them recently and was a bit disappointed. The naan break was stale and did not have much flavour. Spinach and rice was great tasting, but very oily. I usually love this kind of cuisine, but it did not live up to my expectations, unfortunately.

I LOVE AFGAN CUISINE. I heard about this place at a neighbors summertime outdoor party. The couple we spoke to raved about AFGAN CUISINE. They loved the rice, the portion sizes, and of course the delicious meat. We had to try and it didnt disappoint. In our first week weve been back 3 times already. We love the atmosphere, the staff, and the food is absolutely incredible. Finally, the price is beyond reasonable. Youll leave full, content, likely have left overs. Well back very, very soon.

I got the veggie wrap, was delicious. Wasnt what I expected, but happily surprised. They use a potato stew in the wrap, loved how hot it was too. Will go back for another!

Highly recommended, clean restaurant, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. We tried the lamb shank and combo 5 dinner. All the food items were good and full of flavour. The Shank was perfectly cooked and very well seasoned that you could sense the meat flavour. The beef tikka and chicken kebab are the best that I have eaten in Ontario Durham region.

I was really appalled with the experience I had today. I called and placed an order for the Lunch wrap special, and in this case it was the chicken chaplee. However, when I got there they told me they had beef on the grill and asked me to wait longer so they could put chicken on. I was flabbergasted with this and decided to just take the beef as my lunch break time was dwindling. However, after I went to get a drink (which is included with the special) the girl there tried to deny me. I told her to look at the lunch special again as I have been there before! She finally conceded and responded with an abrasive attitude with the comment :Well Im new here. Honestly when I walked in she had ear phones on and looked to be laughing at a Tik Tok video. Maybe take the earphones out and do some damn training. Please familiarize this individual on the procedures and specials of your establishment. The audacity of her flippant response! She was working 28/08/2023 at around 3 p.m.

We really enjoy middle eastern food and can definitely recommend this restaurant. It s not fancy - you order at the counter and they bring your food to your table when ready. We tried daal and beef tikka and a salad that we forgot its name everything was delicious. We ll certainly be back to try other things on the menu.

Well seasoned, well-cooked and tasty food here. We got the chaplee kabob and tandoori kabob with rice, salad and naan. It was great for sharing and we ordered an extra chaplee and tandoori. Tastiest meal we ve had in a while, friendly ladies at the front making suggestions and very helpful. Loved their decor and very clean place (including the washrooms). We will definitely return.

Tried Lamb Shank and it was good. Girl at the counter was kind enough to give me a complimentary Seekh Kabab. It was juicy and tasteful. Would recommend this place.

This food was delicious! We can on a whim and it was the best experience! the staff is incredibly friendly and offered great advice. The food had large portions and tasted great! There is also a lunch special which is a really good value. Im a vegetarian and I cant tell you how much I love having options for actual food thats not just salad. We are definitely coming back! I highly recommend! Vegetarian options: There are plenty of vegan options. I had the spinach and it was amazing!

Went on Saturday with family to have dinner The lamp chop was not cooked well the food had no taste we order Ashak it was most likely frozen and had a very bad taste Food

Great food. I first went over 6 years ago and it was great but just before covid, the food wasnt as tasty as what I had become accustomed to. But now theyre back! Not sure if they changed chefs or what happened but its tasty again!

As a professional Chef, i give 5 star to Afghan cuisine. I purchased a variety of their meals last night to try out and everything was just Amazing! Great spices, great flavours. Lamb shank was so tender. I will definitely come back.

We ordered chicken items including Tandoori chicken, the food was delicious, this is our third time ordering here and always tastes the best. So glad I found this place. Cashier, Fathima went above and beyond to serve us with the best options. A must visit place for meat lovers and especially chicken lovers.

We have catered from Afghan Cuisine for parties on a couple different occasions now and it has always been a great experience! Amazing food, good quantities, and always ready on time. Their kababs are the best!

Worst meat in AJAX, lampchops old and smelly, we got food poisoning!! Never mind complaining, they act like it s normal happens everyday they don t care, AJAX be aware nasty old food don t be fooled by the good reviews all fake.

Great food but its underrated. Ordered just one combo for 2 of us with a kid, which the lady at the service happily recommended and customized for us to accommodate our kids palette. Came with 3 different preparation of kebabs. Both the white and the red dips tasted unique. Came with Rice and a special naan which were also cooked well. We like the salad too. Simple yet satisfying Afghani food. Shafa was great to interact with and very kind and friendly. Will surely come back again.

It was a pleasure to be at the restaurant today in Ajax and greeted by Neelofar with a smiling face and helpful attitude. If there is one thing that will bring me back to this place other than the food is her polite and kind gesture. Way to go Neelofer and Thanks.

Great experience here today. We ordered two combos, lamb, chicken and beef. The flavours were excellent, the meat was very tasty, and the portions were very good. We were served by Nilofax who was amazing, very kind, friendly and attentive. We will be back for sure.

I can t possibly say enough about this restaurant. The atmosphere is very inviting and comfortable. The chef obviously takes pride in his dishes and I discovered new delicious flavours that just wowed me. Even though I was completely full half way through my meal, I continued to take more bites I m pretty disciplined normally. The rice is amazing and the chicken skewer was flavourful and juicy but had a lovely crisp coating. I will not only be back for more but I will make sure to tell others to try their amazing food as well. Thank you!!

Customer service was ok I ordered a naan and tikka and the naan was cold. I thought they make the naan fresh from the oven. The first time I ordered it was ok the second time was not.

By far the best Afghan restaurant in the GTA and I ve tried them all multiple times. If you know Afghan restaurants you know they know what they re doing and they do it good. These guys just do it better than the rest.

Afghan Cuisine in Ajax is a great place to dine in, their ambience is so good . The staffs are so friendly. The food is so fresh. I like the chicken and lamb as they are so fresh and tasty.
