Used to go here quite often , but haven t been there for a while . Sad to say the service is absolutely terrible and the food quality and quantity went downhill . Found the server to be extremely rude . Happy to say they won t be getting my business anymore !

Killer food here, it s my go to Hakka spot for years now, this one and in Whitby. Amazing lunch specials ~$12 for a main with side, spring roll and a pop. Amazing hot sauce and chili vinegar to go with their meals on dine in, wish they sold them on their own or for takeout. Give this place a try.

My family of 8 enjoyed a very cheap, exceptionally well portioned meal. The owner gifted us free chicken wings and desert. Makes every guest experience exceptional!

Order chili chicken and beef hofun. Chicken serving was small and the serving was at least 40% chicken skin. Sauce was not tasty at all. Beef hofun was not that good.

Unfortunately their dishes do not taste like authentic Hakka food. Ive lived in Scarborough most of my life and if youve had Hakka food at Luckys or Kim Kim, then you know what authentic Hakka food tastes like. From their soup to the chilli chicken, everything just didnt cut it; super bland and did not taste nothing like it should. Youd be better off eating or ordering from Mandarin, where youd get more flavour. Since moving to Durham, there arent any good Hakka food around, and ordering here was also a big let down.

Ive been a loyal customer of Fine Taste for a long time and have always enjoyed their food. However, today I decided to try the chili beef lunch special for the first time, and I was extremely disappointed. The dish had no flavor at all, which is not what I ve come to expect from this restaurant. Im not sure what has changed, but the quality seems to have dropped significantly. Hopefully, this was just an off day, but it s definitely not the standard I ve experienced before.

Best Hakka in town!

The older fat man was working behind the counter today. I ordered my usual for dine in, and despite my food being ready it sat there for over 5 minutes. When I asked him for my plate, he told me to wait & continued to serve other customers who came after me. I got my food cold with a side of rudeness. If you want cold food & attitude come here.

Ive been eating here for about a year now and the food is always great. Inside it seems like theyre still in covid mode but theyve done well to keep prices competitive which we all like.

Delicious variety of hakka food, plus always good value for generous portion sizes. Reliably tasty and freshly made dishes like the Shanghai noodles, Chicken & Eggplant, Ginger Beef, Sweet and Sour Fish, Mango Salad, Bombay Chicken and more, keep me ordering again and again. Better deals when you order directly from the restaurant, today we got a free box of chicken wings with our order. Seating available, but we always order take out. Lots of customers and constant take out orders, but the kitchen is always quick and gets orders correct! Ready in 10-20 minutes usually. Vegetarian options: Huge menu with plenty of veggie options - they always are generous with adding mushrooms, snap peas, broccoli, etc. in the dishes that have them. Parking: Easy to park out front.

The food is always fresh, the staff is nice, and the order was ready when I arrived. I really enjoy the green curry, the Chilli chicken, and the shrimp.

Excellent combination of Chinese Indo Caribbean cuisine

Have eaten here multiple times over the years and love the food. It s always fresh and really consistent in portions and flavour. Our favourite dishes are the curry fish and the ginger chicken. Recently was able to eat inside after indoor dining had been closed due to Covid. The staff was super nice to our 3yo even when he was busy all over the place. Highly recommend.

Bought Singapore noodles and seafood mix, both was so bad. Cold and dry, noodles was so dry, every bite, need to drink water. Coming from work and paying so much money and this what you get. I think, they have given cancel orders to me, taste like kept in the fridge.

I used to order from here frequently, as the food was delicious, especially the Bombay chicken. It s gone downhill in the last few months, as my last handful of orders have been overcooked and nowhere as tasty as before. I was hoping it was just a fluke. I won t be back and it s really a shame.

Its one of the better Hakka restaurants in Ajax. Not everything on the menu is good I stick to the general Tao and mixed egg friend rice. The one major thing they need to fix is access to their washrooms. Its illegal not to have a working bathroom in a restaurant where you can dine-in. Theyve had a sign up that says their washroom is closed for like a year plus now. I know it takes work to clean it out but its crazy how you expect people to come eat and drink but not use your washroom? Im guessing not enough people have complained but if someone really wanted to they could take it to the city and they can get a serious fine. Please allow people to use the bathroom.

Ive only tried one item here and its the white meat bombay chicken. Its delicious esp with their pickled chillies. Its sooo good. However, its way too expensive and price keeps going up!! If it was cheaper id buy it multiple times per month instead of a few times per year. They would make more money off me that way. Customer service can be hit or miss. Theres an older man who may be the owner or manager as hes been there for years... He can be very blunt or tends to over react sometimes which can be a lil off putting. They do charge automatically 10% service fee for dining in so you should know that. I guess this is a forced tip which i find is controversial to be charging that. Like what if you receive bad service? Do they expect you to leave a tip after the extra 10% fee is added? Not sure .. one day id love to dine in but my already expensive dish would become even more expensive...

Still one of my favorite Hakka places in Durham. The food is still a bit oily, but the portions are great, food is tasty and they still give you free white rice depending on your food choices!

If I could give this place a 0 rating, I would. I decided to try this restaurant for a lunch special as the place that I usually go to was closed that day. It was a mistake. The male staff working were all extremely indifferent and rude. They had people sitting and eating at tables but where you place your takeout order there is a large piece of plexiglass with a hole cut in the bottom of it and you are speaking to someone several feet away who is wearing a mask. You cannot hear clearly what they are trying to say and they are not pleasant to deal with. When you get your change, they just put a tray in front of you and walk away, not saying thank you. The food was not impressive, just warm, shrimp were small shrimp and the container was not closed properly when put in the bag resulting in a mess when it was taken out. From the comments that I have read, there is consistency with respect to their treatment of their customers and there are many who will not return (me being one of them) because of it. Restaurants these days cannot afford to lose customers and if the management was wise, they would educate their staff on how to treat customers properly or would replace them with people who will. I strongly recommend people to avoid this place and spend their hard-earned money somewhere else where they are treated properly and the food is of good quality. Hakka Passion in the Harwood Centre is excellent. The staff is always nice and grateful and I have never had a bad meal there. Unfortunately, it was closed that day or else I would have enjoyed a wonderful lunch special instead of going through such a bad experience as I did at this place.

Disclaimer: I have been a supporter of Fine Taste Hakka even during Covid when places were just starting to get back up their feet. I have sampled a number of their lunch specials in the last months and I love the food! Today was just a really bad experience. I ordered my lunch special for take out, not realizing that I will be coming with my motorcycle. When I got there to pick up my food, there were a few empty tables. I paid for my food and decided I would eat there since it would be hard to bring the take out in my motorcycle. Not very long one of the servers just short of yelling told me I should not eat in as I ordered take out. He said the price is different for dine in, and said this is not a food court. He mumbled that it was disgusting for me to eat THEIR food in their restaurant. He basically told me to leave. I left with a heavy heart knowing this is probably my last visit to this place. Wow, I guess patronizing this business doesnt mean anything.

I stop by for to order take out deep fried calamari and seafood fried rice .. calamari dont even taste like calamari very small piece of calamari and they just make it big by using a lots of breaded and seafood fried rice very low quality of rice and very little of seafood .. very low quality and no taste at all .. never go back there again.

worst service! Would not recommend the food of this place to anyone!! Ordered takeout Bombay paneer and received chicken instead, which was absolutely careless of the staff. Mind you we are pure vegetarians and have never eaten non veg in our entire life. Two of our friends tasted the chicken today, this is totally careless and unacceptable behaviour. When we called the restaurant, they were blaming it on us asking us the colour of the food and whether we were really sure if it was chicken. They should be questioning their own irresponsible behaviour while packaging with orders. The mistake itself was a very unfortunate oversight, but the way it was handled was simply unacceptable. Instead of showing genuine concern and immediately resolving the situation, they seemed disinterested and indifferent, as if they couldnt be bothered to correct their mistake. The lack of empathy displayed by the staff left me feeling disrespected and invalidated as a customer. Definitely -1000/10 regarding the food and service and will never order from this place again! Totally ruined the mood! In light of this experience, I cannot in good conscience recommend this restaurant to any vegetarian or anyone with dietary restrictions. Their lack of attention to detail, apathetic customer service, and inability to rectify their mistakes demonstrate a complete disregard for their patrons needs. I am utterly disappointed and I strongly advise against dining here!

Been going here for the last three years. Almost better to go inside to see if they are busy. And only then order. This way you know the food is moving. Always got the Bombay chicken.. How ever after getting it yesterday. Was too salty and not enough of the garnish dressing like they did before. Ended up going in the waste.

I ve ordered many times over the last 10-11 years for my family and I and it s my favourite Hakka restaurant in the Durham region. Recently, I ordered party trays for a special event with all my friends on July 21st. I ordered chilli chicken, beef with black pepper sauce, crispy ginger fish, and eggplant in spicy garlic sauce. All the trays were packed well to ensure no spillage, food was tasty, and was more than enough. I would even order less next time, but it was still very affordable. Thank you! Vegetarian options: Lots of veggie options - you can ask them to cook eggplant, tofu, or mixed veggies in any sauce for example.

The food is great and the service dining in is really good as well. My issue is forcing a tip on me. I was going to tip regardless since the service was great, but then I got my bill, and I saw a 10% service charge. When I asked what it was, the man told me it was the tip. So you no longer give an option for people to tip and demand it.

Time should be chnaged to 10:30 if kitchen is closed instead of saying you close at 11pm . Called wasnt greeted politely and got told kitchen is closed i said well it says 11pm and then got hung up on unprofessional. Chnage your time wouldnt recomment at all. Period......Learn to be polite on the phone when talking to customers regardless customer service is just as important as the food sets the tone for your business. If i could i would give no rating at all based on being hung up on and kitchrn closing before 11pm as stated if i order before then you should honour the time on google so i recommend putting 10:30pm..

Been a loyal customer since they ve opened, was their number 1 customer on Uber eats. I usually get the general tso chicken with no spice by ordering it saying less spicy and they make it how I would like it. This time I ordered saying less spicy it was extremely spicy, a lot spicer than when I ve ever gotten it in my many years of ordering it, it was like they didn t take out any spice. When I called to let them know they were very rude, didn t care at all that I ve been loyal to them but they agreed to make a new one. When I showed up the person there who knows I ve been a loyal customer instantly started yelling at me, showed no sign of good customer service, told me he did not care for my business and told me to never come back. The food that they replaced it with was the same thing if not spicer. This place has lost my business forever.

Idiotic and rude behaviour by the receptionist. I called for an order and he was so rude he wasn t even listening and first he put me on hold and then within less minute he just slam the phone call without listening my order. Idiot man.

This place has got to be one of the worst restaurants in the region. The food was awful and far from fresh. The meats and vegetables tasted like they were frozen and stale. Every dish was absolutely disgusting. The peas in the fried rice were ice cold, the beef tasted freezer burned, the chicken was stale and probably really old, the noodles were not even edible. The rude staff and owners dont give a rats behind about the place; this is only a hustle to them. Bottom line: horrible food, horrible customer service. Please stay away.

Yummy food, great value for the money, huge portions!

Food and quantity is good. We usually order chicken lollipop, chicken manchurian and chicken manchurian fried rice. Schezwan and Hakka chicken fried rice not our favourite.

We wanted stuff to eat over a couple of days. We don t eat meat. I ordered Bombay Jumbo Shrimp, Hot & Sour Soup, Seafood Soup, Spicy Pepper Jumbo Shrimp, StirFry Broccoli and Carrots and stir fry Baby Bok Choy. My first bite of the Bombay Shrimp was extremely salty and suspect so I decided to cut some other pieces open. Not one piece had shrimp in it. In fact, there wasn t even anything recognizable as meat in the pieces, just breading. The Broccoli & Carrots was tasteless. The Hot & Sour Soup had good Flavor, though it s almost too hot, the Spicy Pepper Shrimp was just ok (nothing special) and the BaBy Bok Choy was good. Spent $80 and the best of it was the Bok Choy and the Hot & Sour Soup. Not impressed.

First of all Im Hakka and know how Hakka food should taste like. When I moved to the area I thought it was great to have a Hakka restaurant close by. I ordered the chili chicken and some other dish and they were both tasteless. Any Hakka place is better than this place, like Fredericks, Hakka Legend, etc. I have absolutely no idea why people are giving this restaurant 5 stars, it just boggles my mind.. Please do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere, unless you like bland food like the other people giving this restaurant 5 stars. If you dont want to believe me, just read some of other 1 star reviews.

Ordered the Guyanese style Special chicken Fried Rice with Vegetable Shanghai Noodles. The guy on the phone was a bit rude and likes to rush you over the phone. I understand you have 300 calls coming in, but try to slow down in a way because you made a simple two meal order take 20 minutes. The food finished pretty quick and you pay 10% when you pay cash over 35 bucks. The food was pretty good and have no complains on it taste wise. If you re local Caribbean place is lacking or you want to try some pretty okay Hakka good, go to Fine Taste.

Ordered beef with spaghetti chinese food and the plate weighed like 5 lbs, and it came with a spring roll. I had to throw half of it away, couldnt eat it all. It only costed me $10.15, theres no chinese place with this quality food that will be cheaper. Too bad its in Oshawa, Im in Toronto. P.S. Looks like the owner and his employees are scared to get Covid-19, they are 10 ft befind a plexiglass wall with microphones and speakers. Nobody hides under plexiglass anymore. Weird.

The dining place looks amazing and very inviting. I ordered just one dish beef noodles and first time i tried them so inferior tasting comparing to other chinese restraunts. For the price beef quantity was little as well and no pickled chillies with the order? Will try more of their dishes in future but beef shanghai noodles unfortunately disappointed me too much.

Ready in 10 minutes, I got the lunch chicken ball and fried rice combo that came with a drink and a delicious spring roll for 10$. There were 5 big chicken balls, perfectly cooked fried rice, and 2 pieces of brocolli in the container. Very good value for the amount of food you get!! The gentleman ensured I had utensils, hot sauce, red sauce, soy sauce and plum sauce in my bag, without asking. Overall an excellent experience!

As good at the one in whitby, fast and speed.

This was my first time visiting this restaurant. When I walked in my brother we had to stand there waiting while a guy had his back to us sorting out condiments for a few minutes. When he noticed we were there, he took our order. No problem there. I got the lunch special General Tao chicken. I give is a 3 1/2 star for the taste. I would suggest they cut a whole in the container so the food does sweat so much. The spring roll was meh. Nothing to speak about. I will visit them again and get something else. But Id probably do take out until the covid setup is finished.

Wasnt a huge fan, this tasted more like cafeteria food. More often when I get Chinese food in Richmond Hill or Markham I can finish it all. This place I could eat less than half. Likely wouldnt be eating the left overs.. It is good if you are into cafeteria style, vs real Hakka Chinese food. . But I wont be back sadly.

Visited the Ajax location on our way to Mississauga from Ottawa and we re very impressed with the quality, taste and service. We told the server that we were in a hurry and he brought the soups and other food items within 10 minutes. Quality was better than we expected. Will visit again in our next trip !!!!

First time here. I was looking for shrimp pad Thai close to home. Not sure why it is so red. Looks like food colouring. Noodles are mushy. The shrimp are those little tiny shrimp. I will travel farther next time. Definitely not coming back.

Best hakka food in Durham! Bit pricey for hakka, but good portions, and everything we ve tried here, we ve liked. Whitby location is not as good.

I have ordered food 7 times from this restaurant and initially was pleasantly surprised. Typically I have ordered Cantonese meals and have been happy with the results. Have not ordered the spicier dishes so cannot comment on those. The vegetables and meat used to be cooked perfectly with just the right amount of sauce, but the last three times vegetables were overcooked and were really heavily soya sauce laden Food has always been ready in 10 minutes after ordering. Have reduced my frequency of ordering as a result and will see if things improve over next few months. Parking: Good amount of parking in this strip mall location.

This place is a big scam. They charge you for extra meat but serve you the regular amount. I will never order from here again.

Ordered the manchurian veg hakka noodle on the menu and got noodles without any manchurian in it. When I asked about it, I got told that I ordered noodles so I got noodles. If I wanted manchurian then I should order manchurian. The noodles barely had any veggies so it was pretty much spicy noodles. The lady serving us insisted that I should order manchurian separately. When I asked what manchurian is, she said it is balls in gravy, so when I pointed to the menu and asked why does it say manchurian veg hakka noodles if there is no manchurian in it, she immediately changed he definition and said manchurian is the spices like garlic and way of cooking. I immediately googled manchurian noodles and showed her all the images of noodles that came up, had manchurian balls in them, then she told me I didnt understand what manchurian noodles are. Pretty disappointed at being taken for a ride. Not going back again ever.

Food is okay, however customer service may use some serious work. Ill move my business somewhere that welcomes clients.

Food is not tasty at all compared to others Hakka restaurants. Too salty, poor preparation and horrible customer service. Will never buy again. There are far better choices for Hakka in the town.

Tried this place twice. First time I got the bombay chicken lunch special and upgraded to fried rice. The rice tasted burned and was dry. The 2nd time I tried the chicken hakka chow mein lunch special. The noodles tasted just ok. During my 2nd experience I was penalized for not paying with cash. The lunch special is $8.50 plus tax, so they told me over the phone it comes to $9.64. When I arrived the server asked if I was paying cash. I said I was paying with debit, and he said ok so then you pay $10.10. I was shocked that they would charge more simply because I was paying with debit. It was not a boatload of extra money in question, it was just the principle of the matter that irked me. There was no rational explanation as to why I had to pay extra. Also, the customer service aspect is lacking, it seems that they get rather snippy with you when you are trying to place an order. Overall, very poor customer service, subpar food quality, and unfair pricing tactics. I dont think I will be be going back to this place.

Interestingly enough, this place has some of the best jerk chicken in Durham! Everything weve had has been fresh, delicious, and extremely good value. Anytime we have friends visit from out of town, we make sure to place an order. The delivery driver we had is also a fan of our cat and dog (who were nosing around the door) so thats a bonus in my books!

My chicken was pretty raw looking and hard to chew. I order from here quite often and its normally fine. No problem I think, people make mistakes. Its not the first time Ive gotten undercooked chicken from a restaurant and it probably wont be the last. I called and asked for a replacement which the guy on the phone begrudgingly said yes to while trying to justify how pink it was. His quote was white meat can often look rare. Im not going to eat at a place that uses the word rare in any capacity to describe chicken. Photos of the chicken are attached to the review.

Theres nothing fine about this mother and son Chinese owned and run business! There is nothing Hakka about their origin. They both worked for the previous owner Nathaniel of Sushi and Rolls (in the same plaza) before he had set her up in her own business as per se. I was dating him, at thetime, (a good man) and everytime I went there to eat, I would have to rush over to his home, (fortunately, i had keys to his home and it was very close to his restaurant!). It was my suspicion that she was putting some tasteless oil in my food to give me diarrhea! This is no joke people. Beware, if they dont like you, they know how to hurt you! I told him that I would not eat from his restaurant unless he prepared it for me. He was indeed a very good cook and Sushi chef. That took care of that. The son was also rude and he quitted working there for sometime, showing up to work as he pleased.

Ordered food for take out on a sunday night closer to closing. The guy who was taking the order seemed depressed or something. Didnt care and sounded like he was doing us a favor. When i came in and got the food he was still the same way. I get it, its sunday night and people probably want to be home but dont serve customers like you are doing them a favor. We are paying you! We are not there for charity. Came home and the order was wrong. We asked for chilli beef dry and we got the gravy version. Food tasted rushed and bland... they used to be decent back in the days, maybe this was just a one off, i dono...Regardless i wont be going there again.

The portions were plenty. But what was listed as spice was not, very plain tasting. For anyone who knows hakka the mancherian anything is not mancherian. If you like tasty food and real hakka this is not the food for you.

The food looks like it should taste good but it doesnt. We ordered the Manchurian Chicken and Manchurian chicken fried rice and they were both tasteless with no spice and Manchurian colour. The pakoras barely had any spice or taste as well and there was absolutely no pepper taste in the pepper shrimp. Everything we ordered was lacking taste. Will not be ordering from here again. Dont waste your money or time. There are alot of better Hakka places in Ajax to try like Hakka Passion and Hakka Legend to name a few.

The rice, manchurian chicken and the hot garlic beef were all horrible. Super salty and honestly you wouldnt want another bite after the first. It used to be really good 4-5yrs ago but the quality of the food is not even 1 star now!

Decent Hakka restaurant with good portion sizes and value for money. Located in a plaza with a number of parking spaces. They are not offering dine in yet but their take out service is accurate and prompt. Avail 10% discount for cash pickups.

Always a taste experience when we grab takeout from here. The variety of options and spicy dishes are refreshing. Last visit we had the calamari. Fresh and cooked perfectly- not chewy at all. Order if you love garlic!

Fast prep. Lots of staff members inside. The chilli chicken - it tasted like a jelly texture all the way cut inside. I closed my eyes as I ate and hoped to God it was chicken meat they used. No chicken has a jelly texture to it. I am really questioning what happens in that kitchen and what they are claiming to be halal meat but substituting for something else. The owner is not a Muslim. Hakka vegetable noodles is not Lo mein or Chow mein or egg noodles. They use the thick udon kind. That was a bit deceptive and tasted very wheaty. Portion sizes were decent. I wouldnt buy here again only because the meat is very suspicious here

I have been going to this place since I was 15 years old, I believe it opened in that same year. From that time until now I have yet to be disappointed with the service and food. My go to order is number 25 which is: Guyanese leg and back on top of fried rice! Trust me ladies and gents this place will not disappoint!!!

My God their jerk chicken is ridiculously good. Even unexpectedly so! My buddy recommended I try it and I couldnt help but be curious - and I hoooly mmoooolllyyyynwas it good, and their Thai curry chicken is a dish Im literally compelled to order on a weekly basis. I straight up have withdrawals without its glorious flavour! Its so sublimely savoury I have no doubts about scoring it ooover and over and over.
