We had our staff holiday party here. The manager, Thyvian, was very accommodating and gave us a great budget friendly deal. The staff were friendly and attentive! Great place to hold a big party and would go back again!

Takeout forgot out fries. We were able to pick up fresh ones from the restaurant. Much appreciated.

Think this might be my new favorite restaurant in Durham the service from Sash was A1 and she introduced me to my new favorite guilty pleasure the jalapeño grilled cheese!! Used to think I had to go to Scarborough or Toronto for similar experiences nice to know I have something like this just down the street.

My aunt and I went to this restaurant as we have been to a Fionn Maccools before. The wait staff was friendly. We ordered coffee when it came to the table it was cold. I brought the coffee up to the bar and asked for fresh cup. The waitress brought fresh coffee and it was decent. We both ordered hamburgers and French fries. When it came to our table the hamburger was not cooked through and there was little taste. My French fries were fried over so many times they were hard as rocks. The waitress did not come by back to the table only to see if we were finished our meal. Needless to say will not be going back.

We visited here frequently before Covid and it was a great place to go. Closed down for a while and recently reopened. Went for lunch today and found the restaurant really cold. I don t think the heat was on at all. Next we asked about the beer on tap. Only two selections as they were cleaning the lines ? No selection and obviously a lie. Food was ok but the kitchen dinged the bell three times before our waitress brought out the food. It was luke warm. Then the prices- burgers $20 and up. Every entree and lunch special is much higher now than ever. $4 for pop! Will not return. Would rather eat at Mackenzie Pub on Bayly.

Perfect spot for a night out with a big group! They easily accommodated our group of 5. The manager Pradeep was amazing help with all our dietary needs and staff was extremely friendly. The food was delicious, and the live music added an energetic and fun vibe to the evening.

I am severely dissatisfied with my recent visit today. I have a ultimate gift card that has Fionn MacCools listed. The only reason I came to this restaurant was to use this gift card. Instead, I was told that apparently they do not accept these gift cards because of the new management. This would have been nice to know before hand as I dont find the food was worth the overall cost I ended up having to pay because of this mishap. I definitely do not plan on returning nor recommending this establishment to anyone.

Just amazing period! Came across here on a Sunday with friends to watch the football came. The drinks were flowing and on par. Oh wait but theres more! On Sundays they have burger specials i tried the Mediterranean... . The mac & cheese and gouda balls were the groups favorite that we even took doubles home. We had the best time and well surely come back. Didnt know that this was open but glad I did - this will be the new hangout. The owners are super friendly and great. The dj playing was great too - the vibe was bumping!

I was not impressed with my latest visit. It has been a while since I ate here so they must be under new management. Both myself and GF found the portion sizes to be extremely small considering the price, and left still feeling hungry. I ordered a beer, an appetizer and a main and my bill came to over $60. I shouldnt leave feeling hungry after spending that much. For a pub style restaurant and considering the portion sizes it is way too over priced. The service also wasnt that good, our server dropped off the meals and didnt return until we had wanted the bill, even though we needed a couple of things during our meal. They had live music when we were there which was nice but overall this was a far cry as to what this place formerly was, will not be coming back.

I hope this review helps the owner that just took over to make some changes First of all the Entertainment by Dave was by far the best thing all night. This place is very lucky to have a guy like this entertaining the guests. The French onion soup I ordered as a starter was the size of a chalet sauce bowl. No exaggeration. Any maybe the worst I have ever had. I didn t end up eating and politely explained to the server that it was that bad and didn t want it anymore. She said she would mention to the Owner. I ordered a chicken shintzle dish that looked good on the menu and when I recieved it it was way over cooked. The mash potatoes were very cold and they didn t put the sauce on that was described on the menu. Almost everyone food at our table said the food was not good at all. Kids Mac and cheese was cheese wiz Sauce. The hand breaded fingers were for sure frozen and over cooked. Wings were very small and bones were black from being frozen for so long. The owner did not come out at all after the server went to explain our issues. The best thing he did was offer to take off the small bowl of brown water French onion soup and offer a desert. Which we did not want. A lot of other issues before and after which I won t bother to write about.

Great hotel and delicious foods

Establishment was quite empty, thought it was a fluke. Three of us in the party, took 15 mins to receive two cokes...and another 10 mins for a beer (which was exceptionally warm). Took 40 mins for the food to arrive. The yorkshire pudding had flies dead in the cheese. The poutine was literally the worst. The fries were exceptionally over done and desperately old.... whomever cooked this one, thought the mountain of salt used would hide this fact. The gravy was cold.... not sure if it was someones first day or their last shift - but it was completely disgusting to the point after three bites, I gave up. Would have complained to the waitress, but she didnt come back for quite some time and when she did, she asked if I wanted a box to take it home as the rest of my party had completed their meals. I explained the situation and she acted like she was doing me a favour by offering a new portion...or a free poutine. There was only our party and another family... so Im not sure what the issue was. The food was terrible and the service made me wish I had of opted to hit the drive through at mcdonalds instead. Will not be returning.

If I could go back in time and choose to go elsewhere, I would. And when we entered the establishment and noticed that there was only one family dining, we should have turned back. We were a party of three, and our order was not complicated by any means. A beverage order of two cokes took almost 15 minutes to arrive at the table by the waitress, and a glass of Molson Canadian, another 10 minutes. Our food also arrived approximately 40 minutes later, which makes no sense as again, there was just us and one other family who was already served. The one guests order of mini Yorkshire puddings had an extra source of protein added by gnats that were dead in the cheese melted on top. Another members poutine was cooked before we even arrived, and then just refried and doused with so much salt that after three bites, it was inedible. The last members burger was extremely dry and their lattice fries were barely crisp and required ketchup to cover the taste of disappointment. Cutlery was also provided approximately 10 minutes after the food was brought via the manager (?) who literally ran to our table when he noticed we were not eating. The waitresses were also no where to be found, and we only saw them when we were seated, when the drinks and food were brought and when it was time to pay the bill. And the one thought that the reason why the salt poutine wasn t eaten because it was too filling . Perhaps if they tended to us sooner, they could have rectified the situation. If any of you are planning on eating here and think that you ll be served quickly because barely anyone is in there, take it as a sign to turn around and go to the McDonald s across the street. At least there, you get fresh quality food and prompt service for less than $80.

They had a highschool band come on a Saturday which was a nice thing for the community (and kinda old school and unique)! They were good, and something you don t see anymore. My Time at fionn maccols was amazing from the moment I walked in to the time I left. My server was so welcoming and hospitable, I ordered the Guinness mac and cheese and it was amazing, it was a great portion so gooey and full of flavor. Definitely come to fionns if you want a great pub experience

Service was terrible slow, dont even know who our server was as we were passed along and had maybe 3 different ones. This was a friday night and the place was pretty quiet. Took 10-15 minutes to get drinks each time they were ordered. Food wasnt too band. Live bad was a big time life saver as they helped to keep you distracted while waiting what felt like forever to get what your ordered.

This spot reopened about month ago. Hopefully they improve quickly or it may be gone in a few months. Service was extremely slow. Server took drink orders and then we waited for over 20 minutes for her to take our food order. She had to serve the entire restaurant drinks before getting food order. Then it was another 40 mins to get part of food order. 2 of us were served our dishes which were cold because they were sitting under the heat lamps for at least 10min (could see from my seat). The grilled cheese was burnt. The 3rd order was missing so they rushed it and served raw fish and chips. Needless to say, that went back to the kitchen. As a side note, the table beside us sent back all their food too. Mgmt apologized and removed the food from our bill. At least the Friday night entertainment was good.

I had such a fantastic experience! The service was incredible both the hostess and the servers made me feel really special. The new managers and staff are super friendly, too. I heard they re-opened under new management so I went here with my family on a Friday night. It was not busy for a Friday and they had live music which was nice. But the service was abysmal. Someone took our drinks order and we did not get the drinks till 15 mins later. We placed the food order at the same time and 55 mins later we still did not have our food, which btw was fish tacos and chicken tenders. Nothing complicated or time consuming. When i followed up with the server she went into the kitchen and did not come back with a response. 5 mins later I asked to cancel my order and they all started scrambling, but my food still was not ready. I left an hour and 10 mins later, hangry, with no food. Great way to ruin a Friday night.

Typical chain pub food, looks good in picture, but not in reality. Parts of my meal had substitutions different from the menu description. Ie whole wheat bread instead of sourdough bread. Food wasnt prepared properly. Food wasnt grilled and cheese not melted

I was at this restaurant this evening. The service was appalling. It took 31/2 hrs for us to get served and given our bills. We were told there was no white wine, several of the items on the. Menu were not available, there were no French fries. The order took forever to come and then it was not complete. When it came to time for the bill it took so much time as everyone in the group had something wrong on their bill. I have been to this restaurant in the past and had excellent service but this evening it was completely unacceptable. When we asked to speak to the manager we were told he was not available. This restaurant will never get my service again and maybe they should learn to run a restaurant properly

Salads had wilted lettuce and spoiled produce. Yorkshire pudding had undercooked and raw dough with poorly seasoned filling. Schnitzel was burnt to a crisp. Server was the bright point - very pleasant and apologetic for the substandard food. The manager is a good guy, was very forthcoming about the restaurant being recently open, and they are working hard to get it right. Left hungry and disappointed, hoping they get it right.

If youre looking for great food and excellent service, Fionn MacCool s in Ajax is a must-visit. My friends and I had a fantastic time there. The service was top-notch our waitress was friendly and the manager checked in to make sure everything was perfect. It s always refreshing to see such dedication to customer satisfaction. We started with the BBQ chicken flatbread, which tasted like a BBQ pizza and was delicious. For the main course, we tried the fish and chips, veggie plant-based burger with fries, and stacked fried chicken w/ fries. All of it was tasty and satisfying, especially the crispy fries. Fionn MacCool s recently reopened under new management, and they re doing an excellent job. The food is reasonably priced, and they offer daily deals. The ambiance is lively and inviting, especially on weekends when they have live bands performing on Friday and Saturday evenings. If youre into karaoke, Mondays are your night to shine. It s a great spot for a fun and affordable meal!

Overall my experience at the restaurant was excellent. Food was amazing and staff was really friendly. The food I order was perfect, tasted really good and also the presentation of it was done really well. Definitely will recommend this restaurant.

We have been going to Fionn s at least every 3 months in the last few years as it s been our favourite place. We just went back after its reopen and it was a horrible experience. The food was not up to par. Everything both my husband and I ate was not good (my salad was wilted and warm, his fries and wings were bland, and my wrap was oily and soggy) not to mention only getting 8 pieces of naan for a whole artichoke spinach dip. That was enough for half of it. I never ever write bad reviews but this was bad enough to make me write one. Not sure if it was a bad day for them but even service was horrible. Very disappointing dinner. Hope it was a fluke. 4.5 stars for the live band that was playing. They were great.

I never write negative reviews, nor do I ever complain to wait staff about food. But this time, it was a little silly. My wife and I have come here regularly prior to it being closed, and were excited to give it a go, especially since we had $75.00 in Ultimate Dining cards. Wings, they were bland, buffalo sauce was sweet. Honestly could have just been an entirely different sauce but it sure was not buffalo flavored. Fries were bland, actually kind of gross - her salad was warm and wilted, had no flavor, and her chilli rap was covered in oil, and was also sweet and lacking any real flavor or substance. Only the $25.00 gift card worked, since apparently Fionns is not apart of Ultimate Dining anymore, and the new cards dont include it (which was a surprise) Waitress didnt ask about refills, didnt really check up on us at all, gave the wrong dip (blue cheese instead of ranch) seemed like she was just in her own world. This place used to be good, but actually disappointed we had to pay out of pocket to eat at this travesty of an establishment. Most definitely will never be coming back. Guy singing was pretty good though. Only thing giving this place a chance.

I dont normally write reviews...but in this case I thought I should. The positive - our server was quite nice, and decent. The restaurant looks very nice since reopening. The pint of Guinness I had was good also. My issues: 1) My daughters Shirley Temple had a long black hair in the drink that she fished out The server replaced it. Not so bad on its own. 2) My son ordered the kids fish and chips, but they ordered him a full size. No issue there - they counted it as a kids meal, which was nice. So it worked out ok for him. 3) My wife and I ordered the Steak and Guinness stew. We have ordered this many times at the Bowmanville location, and it has always been good, with a decent amount of steak. Not these ones. Each of ours had 1 small cube of steak hidden in the gravy, with a few slices of mushrooms, covered in mash potato drizzle. The meal was more liquid than solid, with no more than a piece of meat no larger than a small marble. The salad on the side of each was soggy and tasted like it had been sitting pre made for hours. I mentioned it to the server in a pleasant way, as its something weve enjoyed before. She said she would mention to the management and chef, and that the meat was shredded in. There was no meat shredded in. 4) My daughter bit to the middle of her burger....it was pink. Undercooked. We mentioned this too to the server. She felt bad. One issue can be overlooked. But there were several. In one sitting. In the end, our server compd our drinks for us. Which was nice. We paid for the gravy and mash potato soup ×2. We tipped our server still. It wasnt her fault. Maybe poor management decisions. Its a shame. We were looking forward to going regularly, but I dont think we will ever go back for food.

I ve seen some bad reviews about Fionn MacCool s lately, but my friends and I had a really great time there. We went as a group of four and everything was awesome! We started with the spinach & artichoke dip and crispy calamari, and both were really tasty. For our main courses, we had the spicy garlic Parmesan wings, chicken schnitzel, and Guinness steak and mushroom pie. The portions were huge, and the fries on the side were super crispy and delicious. We even had leftovers to take home! Our waitress was super nice and made sure we had everything we needed. The live band that was playing was awesome and really added to the fun atmosphere. It seems like the new management is doing a really good job, and I think this place deserves a better review. Definitely worth checking out!

I had an awesome time at the pub! The honey garlic wings were delicious, and the rodeo burger was packed with flavor loved the crispy onion rings in it. We finished with warm apple pie, which was the perfect treat. The staff was friendly, and the vibe was fun. Can t wait to go back!

Honestly the worst service Ive ever had from emily. Went for happy hour for my friends birthday. It was about 330 in the afternoon. There was literally 0 tables in the restaurant just some people sitting at the bar. We first stood at the door for 10+ minutes. The server finally comes over doesnt say hello just walks up staring at us doesnt say a word just silent. Had to ask can we sit down? And she goes oh ya sure. We sit and ordered waters to start while we looked over menus we had to get ourself because she didnt bring us any. She brings back waters 15 minutes later in dirty cups. Brought it to her attention she apologized brought another one .. in another dirty cup. At this point I just gave up on water. We ordered 4 Baileys espresso martinis at the same time as our food. Our food took about 30 mins ( which for quesos and wings is ridiculous especially when we were the only table there ) food arrived still no drinks. We made a point to ask our server if our drinks were coming .. umm ya were still making them ... For 45 minutes now? She then comes to our table 10 minutes later with 4 more waters and proceeds to stare at us blankly for 2 minutes just silent and then was like wait what did you order again .... She definitely was not sober. I dont think she even knew where she was she was so clueless. Like I actually felt bad for her because she was so lost in space. After an hour and a half of shitty service and waiting an hour for a drink we just wanted our bills and to leave... She could not figure out how to arrange the bills at all .. we paired up 2 and 2 and she could not figure it out. Tried charging us 14 for the martinis that in the menu say 11 but what we received was not what was even advertised in the menu. When we pointed it out idk maybe the tax is like added to it. Then she took an additional 30 minutes to rearrange the bills and kept running and hiding in the back. At this point we asked for the manager because she literally had no idea what she was doing and could not figure it out. Comes back we also notice the poutine charge was 8 each when in the menu it says 3.50 and she was like I dont know thats just the charge. The manager never came over and she could not figure it out to a point we had to get up and go over to the till and ask her we would like to see the manager. She snaps back well idk what you want me to tell you hes not here. She proceeds to hide in the back right in front of the entrance to the kitchen talking shit about us to the kitchen and other servers. The owner finally arrived to where he couldnt even figure out the bill and had to call me over to the POS to help them ( as I mentioned I am and manager in food service ) . He was nice but just kept saying oh shes usually not like this Ive never had complaints about her.. but then proceeded 2 minutes to say he hasnt owned this place long and hasnt really seen her work much. I told him straight up people have bad days I get it but she was definitely not sober. I have been a manager for 10 plus years and I have never seen anything like this in my entire professional life. I have seen bad servers before but this one took the cake. I still cant believe we even paid for our bills the service was absolutely atrocious. Like sorry you have to do your job and just getting us basic things is troubling for you .. Emily needs to choose a different profession because serving aint it.

Enjoyed an early New Years Eve dinner. Ordered take out and the server on the phone who took my order was super nice and helpful. Said our order would be ready in 25 minutes. Arrived and order was ready as well as payment machine. Food was amazing. Price point . Left a tip for a great experience. Support local friends. Especially during Covid19. Staff here were very friendly. I loved our server/bartender, I think his name was James. He was very honest about the menu and offered his own recommendations. I think this place usually has a good vibe but with the current situation, it was pretty empty. Not the establishment s fault. Food was tasty and drinks were well made. I have no complaints at all. Would come again

Ordered via Uber - tipped driver well and was delivered in a timely matter, but the food came stone cold, gravy was black and batter was burnt. Ended up throwing out the entire order

Fionn s is or our local spot! We visit every couple of weeks! Consistent, good food and service. Live music some nights of the week! Recommend the Ruben! Our go to local Ajax pub.

Another datenight at this cozy place, I love this place because it s not too noisy. The food is amazing our one of our fave is their calamari, really good and good customer service. Second time here and highly recommended!!!!

So disappointed, we don t go out much , but Fionns was our go to. Sitting more than 15 mins and I had to get up and ask to get a beer for us. Then I ordered salad with my entree and got fries. They brought out the salad but the fries was added to the bill. Not once checked on and felt like we were ignored because I asked for service . Food was not what we remember but I guess that is the times 15 ppl in the whole place on at Saturday night including us I guess says it all. So much for date night at Fionns ..

Not to great! Servers where less than showing a smile . The food was just plain nothing exiting for the money charged

My favorite pub! Great atmosphere, friendly staff, very clean and comfortable. Chris the bartender always remembers my drink, Vanessa the manager always has great menu recommendations. Everyone there is just delightful and always professional. Great place to bring your family and friends!

Great tasting bar fare and good sized portions. I recommend the Butter Curry Chicken.

The worse food I had in the past 10 years. I am speechless about what I was served. I ordered a Cobb salad and 12 pc battered wings. The chicken in the salad was undercooked. It came from a frozen pack that was quickly thawed. It was hard on the outside and the inside felt like gum. I want to through up just thinking about it. The 12 pc bettered wings were in a soup of sauce and overcooked. Unfortunately, you have to assign 1 star in order to post a review and I wish there was a way to go (-)! The bartender was alone for the entire restaurant and I was offered to see a manager to discuss our meals. I did not go there to get a free meal! I am disapointed and I will never go there in my life. I spend $53 Cdn for nothing. The bartender indicated that he could not cancel the bill without talking to the absent manager, although we left 70% of our food on the plates.

Went in for a quick business lunch. Food was solid, service was quick, bathrooms were clean. Would definitely go back again.

This is a place to pass on. Typical pub offering sub-standard food and not much else. Nothing to terrible but absolutely nothing at or above average.

Had lunch on the patio today. Our server, Gabby, was perfect. There when you wanted her to be, never when you didn t want her to be, topping up drinks at the perfect time, brought us extra water when we had finished eating long ago and were busy chatting away. Oh, and the food was good too.

If you enjoy verbal harassment in the work place work or dine here, Ive dined here a bunch of times and 5 times I have heard the same guy yelling swearing and calling out other members to fight him by yelling come at me to them. Foods not great dry and overcooked lately and management can be changed. Like who as a manager sits at the bar for 75% of thier shift, and when there is yelling in the back she didnt even go back there to defuse the situation just plugged away at the game she was playing on her phone.

I wanted to give this place another try. The reason I say that is because I ate her back in January and my girlfriend ordered some chicken that was pink in the middle. So I came back with some co-workers on our lunch. I ordered the chicken sandwich, co-workers ordered the fish tacos and some chicken tenders smothered with some sauces and lattice fries. Everything was pretty decent. I ll be back for drinks and some apps for sure.

My brother and I came here for dinner and the food was excellent. It came out far better than I expected (even though I had high hopes already) and I was pleasantly surprised. Our waitress, Kristen, did an amazing job bringing our food out and she always made sure to make our experience a pleasant one. She did a great job at making our dinner seem lively and enjoyable. Would definitely recommend to anyone stopping by in the area for a quick bite to eat.

We came in the other day for dinner & had a great time! This is more a review about service (although the food was great too). It can be tough going out to eat for a family that has dietary restrictions & picky eaters, but our server Taylor made it easy. She listened to our requests & double checked our meals were made exactly as we wanted. The experience was great because we felt she cared and wasn t annoyed by our order requests like some servers. Attitude matters! Aside from that the food was also great, nice place to spend time at. We will be back! Thank you!

Fionns in Ajax is such a great place! Fun family environment and the food is so so good! We had a fantastic experience with our server Kelly as well! I took my best friend here for her birthday and Kelly went above and beyond to make the experience special. We had a special birthday cake shot delivered to my friend and our food was served promptly. Kelly was able to effectively answer any of our questions about items on the menu and the overall experience was nothing short of fantastic!! 10/10 highly recommended!!! :)
