Huge portions and very tasty food!

Amazing food for great value! Been here many times, a must stop for us when we are in Ajax. They have a big selection on their menu and I have tried a few different things, have not been dissapointed so far. Their tom yum soup and Manchurian chow mein are my favorites! Highly recommend!

This is the best Hakka in ajax from trying all of it in Ajax. Manchurian chicken and Bombay Chicken are our go to.

ordered their hakka passion mixed chowmein today.Could not even eat one spoon because of bad smell coming out from beef. was nit fresh at all. never ate some bad chowmein ever in ky life. Feel like throwing up.

We have been ordering regularly (takeout) since we moved to Ajax back in October 2020. Food quality is consistently good. Recently, we have also started dining in, and the food tastes even better while it is served hot. I would highly recommend this spot in Durham for anyone looking for great tasting Indian style Hakka Chinese food.

Order the lunch special. I ordered two seperate dishes and felt the portions were exactly the same as the lunch, maybe less...despite paying $35 with tip. The lunch would of been $20+tax+tip.

One of the few places that has a decent chilling chicken. I order from here frequently and its never been a disappointment. The price cant be beat.

Ordered Tom Yum soup, chicken sweet corn soup, spicy fish dry- all items were horrid! The fish was bitter- likely fried in old oil, the tom yup soup was bitter and the sweet corn soup was bland! Will never order again.

The food was excellent

Everything I had from them is okay, you won t be impressed but won t be disappointed either. You will end up buying from them again. Crispy wings are fried nicely, chilli chicken is good, Manchurian soup is not exhibiting of too much flavour , hot and sour is better. The prices are good and good portion sizes, a good plus for this place. The best deal is to pay cash.

The food is strictly okay. However the service is terrible. The lady taking order orders was super moody and did not respond to a single Thank you and instead kept a pissy face. She seemed annoyed and made faces when I inquired about the different types of noodles they served. Its disgusting, this sort of behavior for your customers who are giving you business. I do not recommend this place.

I usually get takeout and am always satisfied with the portions. Their take on chili chicken w/ gravy is fantastic and always recommended if you are looking for something to order.

We ordered an office lunch from Hakka passion and let me just say the food was AWFUL! We ordered a few dishes, the chilli chicken was gross. We didn t even know if it was chicken as it was soft and rubbery with no flavour. The rice was bland. The noodles were overcooked and no flavour. The only good dish we had was the chicken pakora and the beef with broccoli and carrots. That s it!! Not to mention we did take out with a 5 minute drive and the food was COLD. Save your money there are better hakkas spots in Durham. We will never be eating here again.

I would not order from here again. It made food-court food look like fine dining. We ordered fried rice and shanghai noodles, which was tasteless and stale. The chili chicken was goopy and had no flavour other than salt. We questioned what meat it was, which should not be the case AT ALL. The best thing we ordered was the chicken pakoras... and they werent that tasty... They also dont care if they make great food or not, because they didnt care when we complained. Save your money. I would give this place zero stars if i could. I just ordered 85$ worth of food for my office lunch. It was inedible! first of all i ordered it right when they opened at 11:30 so we expected everything to be fresh. nothing was even hot! we ordered two different types of fried rice, both so stale. i got Chili chicken white meat and the pieces were huge and spongey. we thought it was fish, or couldnt even tell what kind of meat it was. the shanghai noodles were gross and chicken pakora was pretty flavorless. I called to complain mainly about the rice and chili chicken and they were arguing back with me and wouldnt just accept the fact that the food wasnt good. If a customer is telling you the food was bad, you just apologize and accept it. what is there to argue back? she was refusing a refund and said she could give me new rice if i brought back what she gave us...after 6 ppl tried it we threw it out and she wanted me to go through the garbage to get it??? ......... what kind of customer service is that? i ended up hanging up on her because she was arguing with me. honestly the worstttt hakka ive ever had, i spat it out. i regret not taking pictures before throwing it all out. never going here again!!! horrible service and even worse food

My coworkers and I were really looking forward on trying this new Hakka restaurant. Besides being poor quality of food and calling them to let them know the feed back of what we just tried to eat , their turn around response was overall disappointing and mishandled with poor customer service which leads to loosing customers who really enjoy food and love trying new places .

We love the food here.. its got great taste.. we love their lunch combos as well. Fits the pocket well! Their tastes have been consistent over the past 5 years now, even through covid. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options. They also customize to remove ingredients from your allergy lists.. Parking: Its in a Shopping Plaza, so lots if spots. Kid-friendliness: They have high chairs.. foodwise, I suppose the rice or noodles are a great hit! Wheelchair accessibility: Yes

Hakka Passion is a fantastic restaurant for Hakka cuisine in the Durham Region. They can accommodate special requests, such as making chilli chicken with non-breaded white meat, which is a slightly less guilty option compared to the breaded ones. My family thoroughly enjoys their food, particularly the chilli chicken and chicken corn soup. However, I wish the restaurant had better decor for outings with friends and family. Parking: In a strip mall with lot of free parking. They even have a paid electric car charging park areas.

One of the better places in Durham where you get Hakka food consistently good. Dining in with this food is way way much better than taking it at home. This is my personal opinion. The menu is amazing with lovely lunch and dinner specials, which are budget friendly, portion friendly and hit the taste buds on the spot every time. Ladies running the store is very kind and polite, Which is very rare to see at hakka/Chinese restaurants.

Had to lower my rating of Hakka Passion. Quality and flavour of their food has gone steeply downhill in the past couple of months. Dishes I ordered today were barely edible.

I ordered Chilli panner( definitely worth trying n it taste like the way I wanted, spicy n tasty ) Chilli patato was the disappointment, I thought it will like typical Indian style, it was more like poutine. Lastly I ordered Singapore style Noodles it was alright, may be you should ask them to no put a broccoli in that, it did spoil the taste. Price is reasonable I paid around $42 for 3 dishes, quantity is good too. Vegetarian options: Chilli patato and chilli panner

Legendary food

I bought food to eat for 2 meals ($27 approx) and they gave so much quantity that I almost ate 4 meals. I am a vegetarian so I ordered Paneer Chilly Dry and when I opened it at home, I was like are you even making any profit here. They gave me so many Paneer cubes. The taste was good too. Definitely going to go back. Good spacious interiors and very friendly staff. Good to know that I could eat 2 meals for almost $15. Only advice would be to have Momos (Dimsums), Honey Chilli Potato and Gobi Manchurian (Cauliflower Manchurian) as well, if not already. The place serves Halal food.

Waste of money! Decided to order a bunch of food based on these reviews, but wish I didn t! The general tao chicken tasted like dish soap. Chow mein, garlic beef, and hot and sour soup, I thought one of these would taste better, but everything we ordered was almost inedible! $70 down the drain. I usually don t leave reviews but had to after this experience. Save your money!

Customer service here was a bit off. Charged us for something that tasted bad and we barely ate. Most restaurants would substitute the dish upon request. The sweet and sour chicken, chilli chicken and rice had a pretty good taste but nothing amazing. I don t see why I would come here again unless I am in the area.

This restaurant is somewhat hidden. Ive passed by it a few times without knowing it as I was looking for something to eat. There are many options in the area but I wanted something different. I dont live near there, I was just in the area a few times to get my car serviced near by and came across this hidden gem in ajax, Hakka passion! Theyve got a great selection on their menu. I tried their lunch special. Youve got quite a few options to choose from in this Asian restaurant. I got the Szechuan chicken and rice on the side. It was cooked to perfection! I was actually impressed with the quality of the food and the presentation was great as well. I highly recommend this place if you want to get something to eat. Although I dont live in the area, Im definitely making the effort to come by here again in the future when I pass through ajax.

Tried Hakka Passion for the first time on New Year s Day as my normal Hakka place was closed. Best decision ever (so far) in 2024! Their food is so flavourful and the right amount of spice. Hot and Sour soup was really really good. This spot will definitely become a regular!

Probably the best Hakka Place in Ajax, they have increased the prices but what still works for me is the quality... They have decreased the quantity too but yet I am regular there... We dont like a buch of Thai dishes but this is a Chinese Hakka place and they do provide very good tasty Hakka dishes...

Had combo E: chicken fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, general Tsos chicken. $12.70 after taxes. The dish was quite filling. First time trying Hakka, I couldnt tell the general Tsos chicken from the sweet and sour chicken because the sauce was all over the chicken pieces. I heard general TSO was supposed to be spicy. It did have a mild mild spiciness to it. Overall, the chicken didnt seem to have any batter (which is good). Chicken wasnt dry. The place currently doesnt allow dine in.

New to the area and havent been lucky with trying to find a good hakka option. But thats no longer a problem! Hakka Passion has really good options great portions sizes and lots of flavour. Will be returning often. Must try their chilli chicken dry.

The hype for this place is not exaggerated. This place to me is the best halal Hakka spot in Ajax. The food, customer service, and quality of meat is better than every other place ive been to. I highly recommend getting the chow mein and the beef with rice.

I love their lunch specials. I ordered this Kung Pao chicken this time. The lunch special always come with a can of pop Or a spring roll. The spring roll is sooo good - always warm and crisp! You can tell food is cooked with good quality ingredients.

Ordered Singapore noodles and told them that last time there was little to no chicken/shrimp & veggies and to make sure they didn t do the same thing this time. Literally same issue this time. It s all just noodles with just a few pieces of meat & slivers of veggies. I usually like this place but recently they ve been slacking.

Was lil wary ordering from here cause of the negative reviews. But was feelin some greasy Chinese food and ended up getting the beef and broccoli, shanghai noodles with chicken and shrimp and cheese wontons. Contrary to other reviewers, as you can see from the pics, there was a good amount of protein in both dishes (beef and broccoli partially eaten). Lots of food for 2 ppl and plenty leftover.

First time visiting there, (we were there for a different reason) but when i saw Hakka & looked up their menu, I knew that I just had to try the food from this restaurant. Quick, efficient, nicely priced, lots of choices & good sized portions was what we found when we did takeout & they have a 10% off deal if you pay in cash, which I have no problem with because of the gouging businesses get from accepting credit cards & bank cards, (Hakka accepts them all, however). Overall, the food was great & we enjoyed every bit of it. We had fried wontons (very yummy with chicken inside it), lemon chicken, (moist, tender white meat, tasted lovely) honey garlic chicken, (another great dish) crispy beef, (sooo good & spicy too ) & ginger beef, (tender & very nice tasting). Although we dont live close to there, Im out that way occasionally and will be stopping by whenever Im close.

Ive had the Manchurian Beef, chicken F/rice and it was good, the sauce is a bit thick as youll find with most Hakka style but flavor is good. Their price and portions are very good. I really recommend giving this place a try.

Terrible food! We wasted almost $70 here on the family combo. The chicken soup had a terrible smell, like expired/rotten chicken. We didn t eat most of the food and it all went to garbage. Stay away!!!!

Had been our go too. Not sure if there is new ownership/mgmt.? Food quality is decent. Have increased pricing & lessened portion size (even white rice which is included in the order has been reduced to a ridiculously small portion). Very poor customer service (no accountability or want to make things better). Will neither recommend or return.

I recently had the opportunity to try the veggie pad Thai and unfortunately, it left much to be desired. As a fan of authentic Thai cuisine, I was excited to give this dish a try, but I was left disappointed with its lacklustre flavor and questionable sauce. One of the most glaring issues with the veggie pad Thai was the sauce. It seemed as though the chef had taken a shortcut by using what tasted like ketchup or some generic red sauce instead of the traditional ingredients that give pad Thai its unique taste. The absence of the signature tangy tamarind flavor and delicate balance of sweet, sour, and savory notes was deeply disappointing. It lacked the depth and complexity that a good pad Thai should have.

Tried this today as usual Hakka place was closed. Honestly, the Hakka Noodles were great - exactly what I was expecting and huge portion. The chilli chicken dry was great for delivery and very tasty. Now I dont know which one I like better.

This place is an amazing deal when considering their terrific value and consistently great quality food. The chicken fried rice actually has chunks of chicken in it!!!! They dont skim or cut corners! Food is always hot and pick up orders are normally ready within 10 minutes or less!

Food is tasty and ready quickly

My daughter and her friends went for lunch on Sunday. They said the food was tasty. The water tasted odd so only 2 of them had it. Within a couple of hours she said she was feeling uneasy. Resulted in a badly upset stomach. We did not link it to the food eaten at HP till ALL the others messaged each other to say they were sick too. So it is linked to the food eaten there. I hope this was just a random occurance. I always want businesses to do well however if they can find what caused this it will be good for them too. All the best!

They have the best Hakka. Their chicken lollipops (which are very close to Mumbai style) and Bombay shrimp are my favourites. Our go to place to eat Hakka. Love the service too. It s quick, warm and freshly made.

The food quality was extremely bad. My entire family got food poison and my kid puked the evening after the food. The soup we ordered tasted bad and I told them, but got no response. Poor quality of food and service. Pls be careful if you visit this place. Stale food.

Ordered chicken fried rice and chicken Manchurian. The fried rice was badly underdone. Manchurian chicken was okay, the taste spoiled by the use of corn starch in the gravy which made the gravy gelatinous. Disappointed and not at all recommended.

Food order was messed up by lady at cash. We ordered different dishes and she ended up giving us all chicken chili. I later found out when I reached home in Ottawa. Portions were great but lady needs to work on her communication skills. Therefore 2 stars

Im so disappointed with the quality of two items that I was compelled to write this. We ordered chicken pakora, shrimp with vegetables, chilli chicken with gravy and egg fried rice. Chicken pakora was fresh and tasty. Shrimp with vegetables was decent as well. Egg fried rice had no egg in it, just lots of soy sauce. Chilli chicken was so dry and hard, it felt like we were chewing on a jerky. I really wanted to like this place based on the reviews. Sadly, we will not be going back

only bombay chicken (which i didnt eat) was OK as told by those who had it. We also ordered bombay paneer and chilli fries which were horrible in taste (paneer wasnt soft and appeared as if cooked or fried days ago) and smelling as if cooked in same wok in which they cook meat. Horrible experience. a big No No for vegetarians.

Ive eaten here probably about 30 times and the only item Ive been disappointed with is that the lemon chicken was a little bland. All their chow mein dishes are fire, general Tso is the best Ive had, crispy beef lives up to its name and their cheese wontons are to die for. Bone apple tea

Goto place for everything Hakka. Their Garlic Fish is probably the best I ve had in all of GTA. Do not MISS that for the world . Not to mention their price points are probably the best in the area.

Hakka Passion is one of my go-to Asian restaurants in Ajax. They consistently have excellent quality food and it is prepared very quickly. They have a wide variety of dishes to choose from and they can customize the dish to make it more/less spicy or even add/remove certain ingredients. They give excellent sized portions and their prices are quite reasonable. My wife and I always order from this place when we have gatherings, or if we just feel like having a few dishes for a Friday or Saturday night. It is a shame that they do not have their own delivery driver, but that is fine for us since we live just across the street. They dont have any pork dishes which is a bit disappointing but thats ok because the meat options that they do offer taste fantastic! They also offer an $8 lunch special that comes with a spring roll (or a pop). The portion they provide is big so you can split it up between two meals, or you can split it with another person. Overall a fantastic restaurant that I have been frequenting for years and will continue to visit for many years to come.

Had the Tom Yum soup, Manchurian soup, Cantonese chow mein, crispy beef and some sort of chicken with pineapple in it. Everything amazing! Good quality meat! The pineapple chicken tasted like sweet chicken wings on rice. What a crazy good spot! Give er a try for sure

Posted HALAL, ARE THEY CERTIFIED HALAL by HMA? THIS MUST BE REGULATED & POSTED @ THE RECEPTION FOR HALAL SERVING ENTITIES. Noodles (Manchurian Chicken Chow Mein) and Shrimp Fried Rice were great. Spring Rolls didnt have WOW factor. Chile Beef, dry inside very sugary sweet. Honey Garlic Wings were overly, sweet, it tasted like granulated sugar, not honey, but tastey. If youre diabetic your sugar level would spike.

Very good food, I would say one of the best if not the best Halal Hakka Chinese food in Ajax. Service was fast like most Chinese restaurants. Food was not overly greesy, tasty! as of end of May 2022, there was no dine-in, take out only.

The fried rice is really good and hot! Chili chicken was good too. Only thing i wasnt a fan of was the honey garlic chicken. Was way too sweet.

Im editing my original review and decreasing stars because Ive gone back to Hakka Passion a few additional times since, and realized that the quality of the food is not consistent! In fact, the last meal that I ordered (crispy beef, general tao chicken and Manchurian rice) was not enjoyable at all. Tried Hakka Passion for the first time yesterday. I purchased the Manchurian Chicken (dry) and the Hakka Chicken Fried Rice. Its was delicious! Tasty, spicy, and well seasoned (not overwhelmed with salt!!). Staff person was polite and friendly. I will definitely go back and try more dishes. I recommend giving them a try if you are looking for a tasty treat!!

Nothing special. Order; Hot and sour soup Spring roll Crispy Cantonese chow mein Chow mein was very very salty, but overall a good flavour. Way more toppings than noodles. Hits the spot if you don t have the patience to drive to Markham or Scarborough Spring roll was doughy I wouldn t order it again it was average, the dipping vinegar is bomb though. Nice and spicy Hot and sour soup isn t traditional or spicy but was ok. This place isn t amazing, but it s not bad. Would say it s average but good in a pinch

You will be paying hst+25cents extra on each transaction that you make with your card. These people still charge you taxes even if you pay cash. I wanted to ask management why do charge 25c on each transaction even though you are charging hst?!

They probably have best Lollipop Chicken :)

I ordered the mixed Fried Rice. The dish was a large serving of vegetable rice but the chicken, beef and shrimp were loss in the dish. About 3 peices of beef, 4 shrimp, 3 prices of chicken steips. Not impressed.

Tasty and reasonable prices

Have gone here 4 times recently and had their chili beef and fried rice lunch special, Thai green curry, spicy chicken wings and shrimp pakora and each time the food was delicious. Usually ordering Hakka food in Scarborough I was skeptical to try this place but did on a recommendation of a friend and I m so glad we did. Hands down the best Hakka food in Durham region and quite frankly, the GTA. Portions are super generous and prices are very reasonable. A lunch special is easily enough for two hungry people.

I ordered a Chilly Chicken Lunch Special. The Chicken was not fresh. Good quantity but the chicken was not fresh so I had to toss it. Not happy this time but hopefully they get it right the next time.

There hakka passion chow mein tastes identical to the one i had in Beijing, China. Amazing taste! Nice work Chef ! This place is definitely worth a try!

Ordered vegetarian chowmein and veg Manchurian.. the noodles were ok ok.. not as much loaded with veggies as some reviewers mentioned. And Manchurian was a nightmare. Had one manchurian and the entire dish went into garbage. Totally tasteless. The manchurian balls werent cooked well. They were thick layers and layers of flour. The only good thing was manchurian gravy. Not going here again.

Food is tasty and service is quick. Has mixed chowmein and Bombay chicken.

The best Hakka/Chinese food you will ever find, period! The portions are amazing for such affordable prices and the quality is out of this world. I can literally smell the spices from the general tso chicken. The lunch specials & combos are so worth it. Must try!!

Ingredients used here are of inferior quality as one can feel while eating. We ordered three dishes but none was tasty as hakka food usually would taste. We have ordered couple of times earlier and taste is not consistent every time. This time the food was literally garbage quality & taste wise. Not going back here for sure.

Have been ordering from this place for a while. Delicious hakka food. Place was pretty small but we always do a pick-up. Order was always ready on time. Sometimes, I noticed the chicken gets little chewy the next day. Could have been better.

Good prices and great quality of food! Awesome general tsos chicken! It tastes much more savory than any other Chinese restaurant Ive had it from. The fried rice isnt overcooked, or too dry or salty. In my favourite combo for just under $12 you can get dinner for one with TWO different servings of chicken, and a substantial portion of fried rice packed to the lid. Youll be full! I have to add that the service is great, and all my orders have been ready within 10-15 minutes. Very friendly and polite staff! One time I called to place an order while driving and couldnt remember the name of the combo so I just listed everything that what was in it. The lady was very polite and patient about it, and thoughtful enough to pack a menu in the bag with my order for next time. My favourite Chinese spot in Ajax so far. Far better food AND service than the place just a block north of this one!! (Ill leave their name out of this)
