Great place in the village. Enjoyed warm French coffee noon soup with garlic bread on a chilly winters day.

UPDATE TO BELOW: Back yet again, served mid-afternoon and dessert by the affable Michelle. Excellent new dessert! For what it is, with its charming, quaint friendly atmosphere, it deserves 5 stars. Daughter and myself enjoyed lobster bisque (yes! lovely!), I had peppercorn schnitzel, finished with delightful peach melba. Served by uber-pleasant server a member of the family that owns/operates this spot. We will be back!

We went there tonight for the first time and it was absolutely fantastic. Will 100% be back. The four of us had various schnitzel entrees and shared a bruschetta. Thanks for an amazing meal

Delicious grilled meal! There are Gillette pork chops (cutlet), German sausage, thick-cut ham, sauerkraut, potatoes, and broccoli! Meal for 2, but the portion is huge...

A warm, cozy atmosphere and very personable servers made this place such a great choice to celebrate my son s grade 12 graduation! And the food was so delicious! Kid-friendliness: Very warm staff and fun decorations make this a very kid friendly place

Just finished celebrating our mom s 85 Birthday party at Sauter s, we are so pleased with how professional and efficient everyone who works there was. Our food was delicious and KUMAR the owner went out of his way to prepare our mother s favorite dish. Ajitha..jee .Jen was so friendly and quick to get us anything we needed. Special thanks to Prim (chef) and Silvan who works in the kitchen. HANDS DOWN THIS GROUP OF PEOPLE MADE THE BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION THE BEST!!! Highly recommend Sauter s for your next meal or event!!

We spontaneously stopped in for dinner last night after a long day. We were so pleasently surprised. The service was great, food was incredible and the value was exceptional. Quaint family feel restaurant with authentic German vibes and food. Camambert appraisers was to die for and every dinner at out table was delicious. We will be back soon!

I been going for years for breakfast almost every Sunday. The food is amazing and the portions are very good. The coffee is probably the best in Durham. I dont go to dinner so much but when I have the Schnitzel is so good. I also had the wings at Jam festival and I cant believe how good they was. I highly recommend this restaurant. Its run by the family and they truly make sure youre part of the family.

Pork Hock is not on the menu, it is sooooo authentic. Suggest to call and reserve.

22$ for a plate of pasta that is the size of a fist. And it tastes like sweet ketchup. The Jager schnitzel was supposed to be covered in a brown sauce with mushrooms and bacon and onions, it was poutine gravy with none of that.

Wonderful meal and great friendly service as always. I just have one request: l cannot drink regular coffee so have to drink decaf. Possibly you dont get enough call for decaf to brew a pot and l understand you serve instant. Would you consider getting a Keurig machine where an individual cup could be brewed. I just find the instant very strong and not really enjoyable. Everything else about Sauters is great!

I had heard good things about their food so of course I had to quench my appetite for schnitzel at Sauters Inn Restaurant. They didnt disappoint. Loved the dill sauce on the veggies.

Went to Sauters Inn for lunch. We both had the lunch special Schnitzel with red cabbage and home fried potatoes. We shared a bowl of potato leek soup which was so tasty, we were left wanting more. The schnitzel was perfect and moist inside with a nice crispy breading. The red cabbage was very flavourful with just the right amount of vinegar, home fries well seasoned and a bit crispy. The restaurant is a cozy little spot that seems to attract quite a few regulars. The service was top shelf, and the server was pleasant and helpful with menu suggestions. A completely enjoyable lunch will certainly have us return for more and recommend to friends.

Great food at a great price!

I miss the darker decor before, but such is life. Went for my birthday and had a lovely meal. Chicken cordon bleu made for two meals. Had the platter for some of everything. Were some kinks to be worked out when the original owners retired years ago, but they seem to have everything under control now. Will take my mom next time she comes to visit.

I had a great time at this place. I was visiting this establishment for the first time and was going there for a friends birthday. The place is clean and a nice environment to sit down to relax and enjoy. The food was pretty good, prices were reasonable, and the service was friendly and excellent.

Was there on July 3 and closed for renovations until July 14 I do believe. We drove out from Toronto to find it closed. Nothing online to tell you but a small sign on the door. Maybe another time. Food is very good. My sister n law was stationed in Germany and this place is top notch. Look forward to our next visit hope its soon.

Good food good service large portions Parking: Lots of parking

The service in this restaurant is excellent, however the food isn t very good, our schnitzels had a bit of an off taste and was not cooked at a high enough temperate to get a nice crunchy crust, the spaëtzle was also kind of gummy. They also charged 2 dollars for 4 thin pieces of bread which didn t sit right with me.

Had the Jager Schnitzel. Delicious. Great service and love the new reno.

Food was yummy but the place didn t feel like there was anything special about it despite the outside being really cool castle looking and the interior being designed with a bunch of cool antique stuff. I got a Manhattan cocktail too which was super fun.

Food is always delicious and they also serve gluten free schnitzel which is great if someone in the family has celiac. They also renovated recently, very nice inside. Dietary restrictions: Celiac (gluten)

Decided to try Sauters Inn for Take-out. We had the Wiener Schnitzel and Jager Schnitzel. The portions were great. and the take-out packaging had holes poked in it to help the steam escape and keep everything from becoming soggy. The Schnitzels were great. Good flavour, and great portion. The home fries were just okay. The Spatzle and Vegetables were definitely the better option. Friendly service, and the food was ready when I arrived. Overall 4 stars.

I live in the neighborhood and heard great things about this place. So about month ago my friend and I tried the plater for two. Sadly we were disappointed. I am not sure if it was an off day. The ham was dry and tough the sausage was dry and the schnitzel was tough. The service the was good but I dont know if Id ever go back.

Have been here for lunch several times with friends. The food particularly the lunch special is delicious and filling. We will continue to enjoy this space.

This place is good if youve never been to Germany or had authentic german food. Not sure if the owners have ever been to germany, or had proper saukraut, but theres is far from it. While the decor was spot on and ambience was just like being in a pub, the food was less than par.. The schnitzel had no flavor, not enough sauce and was quite tough. The red cabbage was from a jar (knine i pretty certain) and the saukraut was flavourless and unappetizing. The strudel had a DEFINITE freezer taste after. Like something thats been in the freezer for far too long and improperly stored. Theres a MUCH better german place in Scarborough, take your taste buds there, you wont be let down.

We went there this week, 3 germans. The saurkraut was not very good, the red cabbage was basically out of a jar. The schnitzel was bland not very crispy and tough in some areas. The strudel looked like a Danish but tasted as if it had been frozen to long. The service was slow but there was only one server but it was not busy. Would I go hete again; probably not. Very disappointing.

Had a delicious lunch here, peppercorn schnitzel with potatoes and spatzle, food came out fast and it was really fresh, would love to come back and try other menu items.

The customer service was top notch. Their food was so tasty and filling. Im not much into thin sliced bread, but I do love having the German bread there. Also the lobster bisque soup was a treat. The Jager schnitzel was an absolute treat. This has been my regular place to have German for the last decade. Theyve always given great service and great quality food. This all only cost me about $35 roughly with a coke as well. Very affordable.

I have been going to this restaurant since 1998 and the customer service is the BEST! I have always been enjoyed the food at this place too.

Friendly staff, huge portions and really great quality food! The restaurant decor is cozy and inviting. Vaccine checks were taken seriously and we were distanced in our seating without even asking for this, which was great. The Jaegerschnitzel was phenomenal, everyone in my party was impressed with their meals. Will definitely be back again.

Wow amazing food I will back for sure

My husband and I went for lunch a several years back, and it was wonderful. The restaurant truly had a wonderful European vibe. THEN, oh, about a year and a half back, we stopped in for lunch again. The menu was the same, but the proprietor was not. The cutlet was dry, and the spaetzle was overcooked. Service was poor. We were disappointed, and will likely not return. Hav9g said that, maybe the establishment has changed hands again, and hopefully its back to being a very good, authentic restaurant.

Nice cozy setting. A bit dated. Not sure of the authenticity, however, there s an obvious German themed cuisine. My wife and I were both happy with a tasty selection of food. Definitely worth trying, everyone want a new taste. Just don t have ultra high expectations.

A very nice restaurant! Im glad that there is a European restaurant like this in the Durham Region. I find this restaurant very unique where the building feels like Europe. They have a nice patio in the back and inside the atmosphere is great and cozy. The service is very friendly and the food is excellent. I think they should add more on their menu. Such as Rouladen, Sauerbraten, Weisswurst, Sulze, etc. Overall a wonderful restaurant! I totally recommend going to Sauters Inn. Its a great place to sit down and relax.

Such a cute, authentic little place. Its definitely been around for a while, it might not be the best Schnitzle Ive EVER had, but its the best (only), in the area, and Ive had some pretty good Schnitzle in its defense.

Good for me for breakfast. Still room for more customers. Need to add more to the breakfast selection.
