The food, service, and atmosphere were all outstanding everything exceeded expectations! I will definitely recommend it. We opted for the breakfast menu, but I noticed others enjoying their lunch, and they seemed equally delighted! Waffle were sooooo yummy

The worst restaurant in durham. Service is horrible, they served tequila shots with a salt rim, food was cold and stale. Manager did nothing at all all night, there was no last call, manager just gave us the bill without letting us know the place was closing.

Stopped into this location to enjoy a Mommy/Daughter impromptu dinner date. The menu offers lots of choices including KIDS eat free on Sundays (after 2pm). To kick off our food experience, I ordered an Espresso Latte (with Baileys) which did not disappoint! This hot beverage was topped with whipped cream to complement the flavours. Kuddos to Ms. Ashaya (sp?) - definitely WOULD order it again!

This was our first time at Symposium. The food was good. We all enjoyed what we ordered. They weren t busy at all but the service was a little on the slow side. They have some good specials throughout the week and will certainly go back and give them a try.

We took advantage of their Monday burger special, double patties for $10.99. It was one of the best burgers Ive ever eaten. Wed go back for sure. Parking: It was tricky getting out of the parking lot during rush hour.

We saw the reviews and wanted to give it a try! Absolute dissatisfaction! Food was so bad! Chicken tastes like fish, California sandwich was extremely poor presented and strawberry juice was super thick almost impossible to drink. Also, the service was a disaster we did not have a server for more than 20 minutes after waiting for 1 hour to be seated! Then two servers were trying to serve us but both did not know what we ordered so they asked us about our order three times! After a while our food was served to a different table in front of our eyes, when the server realized he gave to the wrong table he brought it to our table but on the rush I guess the soup spilled and the presentation of the plate was awful! I won t be back. I don t know where this reviews come from. Food has the worst quality and the taste is very poor. Not looking forward to come back! I hope you guys improve because I don t think you are doing any good. I went out n Sunday September 22nd at noon and the experience was really poor

We had a late dinner here. I remembered the food being good in my previous visit but I was disappointed this time. We ordered the seafood pasta price was great but pasta was overcooked and bland. The salad was fine, teriyaki bowl was so so, and the butter chicken was not really anything special.

Ive been there before a few times on special occasions - not cheap, so I cant afford this every day... My goto place when theres something to celebrate or someone to impress or honour - reliable, guaranteed to please. One of the main reasons for me is that they have a pretty varied and impressive desserts selections, so we don t need to go somewhere else after a nice meal looking for good coffees and deserts - which on many occasions will break up a party, especially in the winter. I wish more places would see the wisdom of that!

We were a group of 20 people from out of town and made reservations for breakfast. From the reservations to the final bite the food and service was very good. Thank you to everyone.

Expensive, overpriced. I got a Mediterranean salad, it was mostly just lettuce drenched in sauce. $15 for this dish. Barely any tomatoes and I dont believe Ive seen any olives even though the menu said thered be. The server was nice. She let us have the blinds rolled down due to the blaring sunlight and comped my friends awfully sweet pad Thai when we found hair in the dish. The interior is very dark. They gave a free dessert if you order a vegetarian dish. Washrooms are clean.

Visited with my family on Labour Day. We were served by Hannah, who did an excellent job of creating a very hospitable experience. The food was served hot and well prepared; and for those with a sweet tooth - dessert will not disappoint! My only regret was not taking some photos to share, but I hope to return again soon. Torn to write this review because Im usually very fond of this restaurant and location. But today I brought my elderly Mom in for her Birthday and the service was extremely slow and not the usual good experience. I had made a reservation but it was clear a table had not been reserved so had to find us an open table and luckily one left. Drink refills were never offered. Birthday dessert was not offered which I have had numerous times before. Was difficult to find or flag down server. No coffee or tea offered. Finally after 2 hrs had to finally ask for bill and leave. It was disappointing as she was looking forward to a birthday celebration. Anyways food was fine and wont stop me from going again. It was initially very busy and maybe short staffed? But later on as tables emptied service just never improved. .

After a days work I go to Symposium to relax on the patio and see mice running around the patio. I brought this up with the waitress, she did not care! Brought it up with the manager and he was not concerned. I m sure no one there cares about it or else there would not be so many mice running around and climbing tables, going into cups and touching the condiments on the table. This makes me wonder about the plates, cutlery and cups I used while having my supper!!! Never going back to this place again!

***August update *** I know and understand the times were living in are making it sooo difficult for restaurants to meet their overhead, however over $20.00 for two what was called a creamy moccachino is beyond ridiculous! If they were phenomenally delicious and full of the ingredients listed (Creamy Iced Mochaccino A scoop of Venetian chocolate ice cream in your Mochaccino, topped with whipped cream-per menu description) I could justify the price... BUT it was more fake whipped topping than anything else, no coffee flavour at all and definitely not venetian chocolate ice-cream as it too had minimal flavour. Very, very disappointed. In general this restaurant has become very expensive without the quality justifying it. Wont be back for awhile. **Oct 14 th update** Lea our server Lea Its a wonderful server. This is the third time weve had the pleasure of having her service. She is very upbeat and friendly. Her sense of humour is as contagious as her smile. Looking forward to having her again next time we in!!! **update** Went back this Wed and was pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious (southwest chicken wrap & broccoli cheddar soup. Yum!!! Could there have been more guacamole? Yes. But super delicious anyway. The soup was creamy and flavourful. The pesto flatbread was tasty and filling. Now the vanilla shake...OMG sooo good and the mocachino was a liquid dessert). Wed go back just for a coffe or shake! Been to another location in Whitby and this Ajax location is FAR superior. However I was disappointed with the food from one point. I ordered the farmers eggs Benedict and was very disappointed in the amount of red pepper that was not on the dish along with the small piece of Farmers sausage for the price I was paying. On this particular day the service was slow and the girl kind of forgot about us as we were out on the patio. I would certainly come back to symposium but I may not come to the Ajax location again. Purchased a slice of cake for $15 on August 5 and it was horrible!!!!!! It was 7 layers of incredibly dry cake with not enough cream cheese icing. For $15 and a place of this caliber, I was so very dissatisfied. Im shocked they have no problem serving this. To Symposium Ajax: do better. It was perhaps foolish of me to spend $15 on a slice of cake, but I didnt think it would be so bad!

It was terrible. In and out after 35mins because we were just so disappointed with the meal and just didn t want to waste another minute there. With all of the other options out there, they should really focus on the quality especially with the prices they charge. I don t care for fancy just quality, tasty food.

Average food for high prices. Came for breakfast. Both Omelette and egg sandwich eggs were way over cooked. Potatoes were good. Service was non-attentive. We were not even asked for a coffee refill.

Called ahead and booked a table for 6 this morning to celebrate my moms 79th birthday. Overall horrible experience, one of the worst I have ever had. Very very slow service and no communication that we would have to wait long for food or we would have left as we got there. Our waitress and what looked to be a chef in the back cook area got into a very heated argument shouting and screaming at each other using curse words which were very loud across the entire restaurant. This lasted quite a while and we were surprised that a Manager did not run over to shut it down faster. It continued for a good while. It was very upsetting to hear them swearing at each other and across the plates of patrons food. My mom was so upset and asked to leave, so we left after only getting our coffees and juices. We were there for at least 40 minutes and did not get a coffee refill nor food served. And we had to ask for the refill which they did not bring. Of course when I spoke to the Manager and said we were leaving and the reason he tried to give me a million excuses to make it up. Too late. Bad management in my opinion. Went next door to Sunset Grill and had a great experience. Wont be supporting Symposium ever again in the future. I GIVE IT ZERO STARS!

Phenomenal experience. Everything was awesome. The food was delicious, especially the steak and the burgers. For dessert, the iced cappuccino and icecream was the best I ve ever had. The drinks were cool and refreshing. Plus, the people who work there were super nice. I can t wait to go back! 10/10

Went to the Ajax location to celebrate a birthday. Service was good but had to leave early because of mice infestation on the patio. Do not sit on the patio because you will have mice (several) running around while you are having your meal. Addressed with staff who saw the mice as well. Called after and spoke with the manager who was unphased but simply apologized.

The food was great our server was very nice. The issue was after our meal. My partner accidentally left his wallet at the restaurant. We called the restaurant and spoke to the manager who assured us it was not there. then friends who had attended dinner with us walked in to the restaurant to ask about the wallet, again the manager assured them it wasn t there and they left. As we were positive it was left in the restaurant we returned to the restaurant, again the manager assured us it was not there. As we turned to leave our waitress happened to overhear us asking and she let us know they had found the wallet and it was sitting on the host stand that the manager was standing directly in front of. The wallet being in his line of sight the entire time. When asked where the discrepancy was he blamed it entirely on the waitress saying she had not reported it to him. When I asked how it was possible that he wouldn t bother to ask the only other person working at the restaurant after being contacted about it three time he s shrugged it off and would take no responsibility for the incident. Not coming on here to accuse anyone of foul play but I am genuinely taken aback by the incompetence and complete lack of concern demonstrated by the manager over such a pressing matter.

What an impeccable service top notch food quality and always busy place excellent workforce one thing to note is everytime mgr was trying to stay at our table for casual conversation there was always someone at the door which disturbed our talk but mgr was so personable and kind and sweet.his smile made our day and Oh my God sense of humor next level. Our server Tom and his trainee Chloe were great and service was unobtrusive. The food was flavourful but the BLT sandwich was falling apart and the home fries were just OK. The lunch Schnitzel and fries, the Schnitzel was not pounded enough if at all and therefore a little tough but the fries were great! We have been to other Symposium s and the food was better made. We will try this branch again and hope the food is better made. Still the service was great and the seating is first class.

Based on a recommendation from friends my family and I visited Symposium yesterday for Father s Day breakfast and I must say, our experience was exceptional largely thanks to our server Amanda. Amanda struck the perfect balance between being attentive and allowing us to enjoy our meal without feeling rushed. Our coffee cups were never empty and Amanda checked in with us at the right moments to ensure everything was to our liking. When my elderly father mentioned a dietary restriction, Amanda was able to suggest suitable alternatives demonstrating her knowledge and expertise. We will definitely be returning again soon.

Taking time to write to review. I encourage people to try local restaurants. This establishment was a big mistake. We had reservations for Sunday and as we sat down. It took them 30 minutes to come over and take our order. I had to flag them to acknowledge us. Finally, the food started arriving, the server brought three mimosas and an orange juice with his hand, no tray, spilling drinks all over and just leaving them at the corner of the table. I was there with work colleagues so didn t want to make a scene. I distributed the drinks accordingly. Brunch was finally served with no utensils. I had to once again flag them to bring the utensils for the table. Took them 10 minutes. By now the food was cold. We also got coffee for the table. No milk, cream, sugar. Just plan stale coffee with no spoon. Overall, a terrible experience. I travel for work and host these brunches every week. I felt beyond embarrassed. Anyone reading this please, go to McDonald s or anywhere else. This restaurant is beyond terrible. To the restaurant, it s 2024, people have millions of options. If people choose to give you their business during inflation, you should at least offer a decent service. Or simply care. With the service this terrible and food quality bare minimum. Your days are numbered. Get it together for the sake of your employees.

Thomas was our server and hes warm and amazing. We ordered eggs Benedict and French toast with a couple of coffees. Everything was delicious, and we got our order pretty quickly. Appreciate the experience and well be back.

Visited today for breakfast. It was delicious. I had the Creamy iced Mochaccino which was great, I just found it quite small for the 8$ price. The french toast was fantastic. The Eggs Benedict was also great. Especially the hollandaise sauce. It is hard to find a place that makes the hollandaise sauce themselves!
