I had grilled fish it was realy delicious. I highly recomend this location for everyone to taste afghan traditional food.

It was our first takeout visit and certainly wont be our last. Their butter chicken sauce is on point and I like they fact they use white meat. Also thoroughly enjoyed their palak paneer. We will try dine in next time. Thank you

Me and my family had just received our Covid-19 vaccines in Spring 2021 then decided to have a snack from this restaurant in its previous location. We have bought from here several times in the past. The samosas are the best that ever exist according to me because of its delicious spicy potato filling. Lunch or dinner was always fulfilled. We had gotten something else also, a bag full. So anyway when we came here on an early evening, it was just my father and i who went to get our item and during purchase my dad said he was 2 cents short and had only a quarter left, the rest was paid in cash. The guy there said no u have to pay it all. It was Ramadan and we got our items to break our fast. Btw even outside in the plaza there was a lady begging for money to my mom in the car and mom gave her 5$. My dad requested in the store once more can it let be. The worker refused and my dad then had to pay with the change he would get. Being Ramadan, why did the worker have such a demanding attitude? And, after that comment, he replied Your Face to my father. We should be giving this month and we are fasting. Have some Shame. I love this shop but attitude like that is not going to help you. It is rubbish for real. What an interesting experience for all of us. I value quality customer service and we did not like the way we were treating for something silly. There are other workers there who are respectful. I don t have anything against the food and do hope it s lasts. Thanks.

Take out Lamb korma was underwhelming. Beef Tikka masala was bland and had 4 pieces of beef. Rice and Nnaan were fine. Fish curry was the best item but Im pretty sure it was a butter chicken sauce.

I REALLY loved the food here! We had a butter chicken, mango shake, and a chicken biryani, and it was all super delicious. I would come back to try more of their menu in a heart beat. Our server made us feel at home, and the service was quick - even though orders for take out kept coming up! I was SUPER impressed by that too. Vegetarian options: They have plenty of vegetarian curries. Kid-friendliness: My toddler had the zoomies and staff was kind enough to ignore us. I am very grateful for this.

their samosas used to be 3/$1, now theyre 3 for 3.99 thats like a 300% price increase. i get things are getting expensive but what in the hayyyyy? 3 stars cause they were good, just not at a price i would ever pay for again. as per reply: it was not 9 yrs ago. was 2-3 yrs ago when the shop was still at markham and ellesmere. do you forget your own prices? your response is a lie lol dont do that.

First time here and it was fantastic. Big portions of fresh and flavour Afghan food. Owner came out and made sure everything was to our liking and even took the time to explain the different sauces and how they make them. It is a family owned establishment that was originally from Scarborough that migrated over to Ajax. Overall fantastic food, service and atmosphere, definitely will be going back.

I just started going to Taj Mahal Ajax location few moths ago. I normally like to try different varieties of food also different locations.I am really hooked on this place now. The food is amazing. I tried thier chicken buriyani, Garlic Naan, Chicken Tikka really amazing. The owner Bashir is a very humble and a nice person. I am a very happy customer. Will be introducing this place to my friends and family for sure. Cant wait to try the other food in thier menu.

From Taj Mahal Sweets in Scarborough to Take Mahal Cuisine in Ajax, this place has alot to offer including many authentic Afghani and Pakistani staples. As a Scarborough kid growing up, this was the go-to spot near Markham and Ellesmere and I am so very glad to see that they are back and even better than ever. Super kind owner and the same amazing taste of their Samosas will definitely keep me coming back hungry for more

My family and I absolutely love this place!! before they relocated to Ajax they used to be in Scarborough and it was the go to place for us and now we make the trip here because it s just that good! I LOVE their samosas both veggie and meat by far the best samosas you ll ever try i can promise that and the chicken biryani is just as incredible but the star of the show is most definitely their fried fish, it s incredibly flavourful/delicious and you can definitely taste the freshness! If you re looking for an Afghan restaurant in the GTA i definitely recommend this place and the owner/staff are incredibly kind and friendly, they make you feel like family here. Go check them out!

The food really speaks for itself. This place took me by surprise as I pass by it everyday and really didn t pay it any attention until one day I just saw it while walking in that plaza. Been about a week and I just keep going back. Their palak chicken is sorcery and shrimp biryani is a must try for sure. I m still exploring their menu and can t wait to try all their dishes. Owners are also extremely nice and give the right recommendations depending on what you like. If you re looking for a great meal, definitely give this place a try.

I always go there with my two kids and sometimes also take my husband and mom. It has an amazing atmosphere. Their masala chai is bomb so their chicken biriyani. The owner and his wife are amazing. I was very delighted to visit this place after stumbling in Ajax. The people working here really want to make you feel at home. I happen to come on the day of their anniversary and only ordered a beef seekh wrap. The man working at the cash register was super nice and gave us a free drink and complimentary cake on the house for myself and my little sister. You really don t get this quality of service anywhere else. The wrap itself was amazing and you could tell they made it from fresh ingredients. Can t recommend this place enough and will definitely visit again if I come to Ajax.

We had worst experience. I had invited my guests here so we could enjoy eating Afghan style fried Fish. After waiting for an house the fish was brought with a long hair in it. I removed it as my guest is diabetic and had to eat something. We all still ate. I talked to them and told them that it is hygienic and a must to wear plastic cap on head and he said okay. I looked inside kitchen where kids were moving around and women were having loose hairs with no covering. We paid around 130 with tip upfront just to find out hair in food. Please do better

We got ripped off. Ordered many samosas to take to relative s house. We usually only order veggie samosas from takeout places but they said they had no more veggie we had to order beef and chicken. We tried them in the car; both kinds of samosa were watery and cold from the inside. Old and disgusting. Do not recommend the samosas at all.

Taj Mahals owners are very sweet and friendly. They have pride in their establishment and their food. The restaurant is always very clean. They themselves are a nice family, and they often have families come to eat. Ive never had a problem with them, they go an extra mile to make sure the customer is satisfied. My favorite is the Okra bhindi, and I am just crazy about their Masala chai! Plus you get a free HUGE brown rice with the lunch special every day except weekends.

Whenever newish restaurants emerge the early reviews tend to be family, friends and others close to the business trying to help things along I was suspect of a high 4 score with under 50 reviews for this reason I had the butter chicken, mattar paneer, garlic and regular naan Nothing was outstanding by any means and flavor wise I would say everything was average Certainly not a high four worthy meal by any means The butter chicken was probably the best item but the chicken itself was strangely dry in spite of the massive ratio of liquid to meat The mattar paneer had a bit of a funk to it, the peas themselves didn t seem fresh likely frozen or simply old The naan was nice especially the garlic but I ve had better locally It s ok overall

These reviews are definitely being falsely inflated by friends, family members, and duplicate accounts. Ill be shocked if this review stays up. The butter chicken tasted like tomato paste and chicken and the naan was so burnt and thick I felt like I was chewing a plain pizza crust. The food is genuinely the worst Indian food Ive had in the GTA in my 20 years of living here.

I ordered the butter chicken $15. Received 7 two inch pieces (if not smaller) of chicken breast drowned in 2 cups of ketchup tasting sauce. You could not share this with another person. The Naan or rice was not even included. And your reply for a single person serving does not make sense when it does not come with rice or Naan. Youre just being cheap. My complaint was focused around the small pieces of chicken (like they were counted, cut in 1 to 2 inch cubes) smothered in ketchup sauce to hide the fact that your single serving is too small for even one person with no sides. At $15 you feel you are being ripped off.

Food quality was much better than Kandahar and Bamyan in the area. Very friendly staff and great place for family gatherings. Highly recommended.

I purchased vegetarian samosas from this location based on a recommendation from a friend and they were way too oily. For the price of the samosas I expected more. Even the $1 for 3 samosas from Embassy is tastier and is better value.

Living in Toronto for most of my life, I can confidently say that I ve had some of the best Afghan/Indian cuisine. Taj Mahal however is one of the best in Durham by far!!!! Foods is always fresh and taste incredible, portion is also really good for the price you paid and the Service 6 stars if there were such a rating. I ve eaten here so often my wife starting to think I m cheating on her! must I say more?? :))

This place has the best Biryani.. the family is sooo nice they remember you as a regular . The place is always clean too.. its my go to place for Indian food... Am I gushing, is because they yummy.. the chicken... yummy.. love yall... Hey

Kid-friendliness: The food is amazing and not spicy to the point which kids can t eat. It s tasty and perfect amount of spices that even a kid can enjoy their food. My daughter is very picky but she lovesss their biryani, chicken and fries, butter chicken. Food

Same great service with a bigger and better location that is more inviting and welcoming. Also, delivery options are available from Ubereats, SkipTheDishes and Doordash in addition to dine-in, takeout and catering. Highly recommended experiencing the hospitality at the new location. This place is one my family and myself will go to whenever we feel like traditional Asian food. The service here is phenomenal and they really treat you like a VIP customer.the food is awesome and the price is very reasonable. If you are in the area, I suggest you try Taj Mahal Cuisine you won t be disappointed.

Taj Mahal Afghan Cuisine has been around for many years, original location was Scarborough and now at Ajax. I got to figure out the reason for its success today when I tried the food for the first time. We got the combination of chicken and ground beef and an order of fish. The food was fresh, perfectly seasoned, delicious, not dry and delicious. The rice is well cooked with unnecessary spices. Its a place that must be tried.
