The Keg Steakhouse + Bar - Ajax in Ajax

I have been to the Keg many times, and always enjoyed the food. But last night my beef was really undercooked, tasteless and tough. So was my daughters. We asked for medium rare and got RARE. The fat on mine was not rendered, and the gristle made it tough. I asked the waitress, but was made to feel that I didn t know what I was talking about, and I really do know. This meal was not worth the price.

Amazing food. Steaks cooked to perfection. Delicious appetizers and great service.

I always get the prime rib and am always pleased. This time it was just ok, nothing spectacular.

My salmon came kind of half baked and I think it gave me the runs immediately after eating. Kid s burger came over charred and they had it exchanged promptly - kudos to the team for their understanding and efficiency in resolving the burger issue.

Let me start with i still love the keg, just not the ajax location. If they needed to do a case study on poor restaurant etiquette and service this place would win the award. Had a 8:30 reservation, took over 30 mins and me checking in to finally get seated. When seated we didnt get a server for another 20 minutes. After orders were made and messed up severely, we did not receive any apologies for this awful experience or some semblance of customer service. Used to be a great location and has now gone down in quality every year, will never be returning here and I would suggest any other keg to attend if this was an option.

Just a great place for a group dinner

The keg is a classic. Everyone knows the restaurant, its been around for forever. But given the fact that its a chain restaurant my husband and I were very impressed by the quality of the food, the professionalism of our server (Anne Marie, she was amazing) and the ambiance. The ajax location is fantastic

We had a reservation at the Keg Ajax on November 28th at 4:30 pm; there were 9 of us. For those of us who ordered either the sirloin or filet steaks, we were thoroughly disappointed. Not only were the steaks overdone, but they were on the tough side. I have never been to The Keg, where the steak didnt melt in your mouth, and I was shocked at the quality of their steak.

Always great

This location is always a hit or miss type of experience. It all starts with the bread, when the bread isn t fresh you just know the food is not gonna be any good. Stale, hard and cold bread served with watery butter sets the tone. First time trying a seasonal (i think) appetizer and it came out cold, had to ask the waitress to take it away after one bite. Ok. Now the steak arrives. It s warm, but felt like the knife was either too dull or just the meat wasn t on par with Keg standard. Felt like rubber and barely finished it and couldn t wait to leave. Only leaving 2 stars because the waitress was kind and sweet. Also the manager came out to apologize but he seemed lost in a sense. Go to Scarborough location, never really had an issue there except once and the item was removed off the bill which was not the case here.

The Keg Steakhouse was a great experience. The food was excellent and foods I would recommend are the steak and lobster and the calamari. The service was alright however they took some time to deliver our food. The wait time was long too but the waiters were very friendly and warm. The Atmosphere was very nice and there was free bread with butter ( you could have as much as you want). Definitely going back. Additional Note: The washroom was amazing.

Our board was meeting for our xmas dinner and a few birthdays. Everything was excellent. The FOH and BOH were fantastic. Our server Victoria was the best I have ever had. Well done young lady.

Waiter was slow and unprofessional

Our table Took 20 minutes extra because the people in front of us Were just not leaving so not really the fault of the restaurant as they were asked to leave. I ordered my pistacho salmon I get all the time. I asked for it to be cooked well done.It came out slimy. Ive never seen it like that before. They said that they would make a new one but it took over twenty minutes and then my entire family was done eating. Then the one that they brought me was still not fully cooked so I ate my potatoes and broccolini.And brought it to work the next day to nuke it In the microwave. they did comp my meal and I got a free cheesecake and generally, it is a great restaurant.But I dont know what happened that night.

Steak was a little over cooked. I wanted prime rib and you ran out.

Impressive

I have been to this particular location twice and it okay. It was a bit busy when I went in for a birthday celebration with friends. The wait for a sit was not too long. Waitress was polite and friendly. She took our orders quickly and got acquainted with us. Parking: Parking was somewhat limited due to the busyness. I was able to find parking closer to to the Costco area.

Always a great experience here. Definitely more on the busy side but that just shows the level of quality. I do wish there were more Kegs in Durham because these guys do it right. Highly recommend, just remember to reserve a table like at least a week in advance if booking on a Friday or Saturday!

It was our 46th wedding anniversary. Oddly enough, our restaurant of choice was closed for the evening. We found ourselves at the keg. First time visitor, will not be our last time. Truly enjoy the food obviously the company. We had a great server, his name is Steve. Did an excellent job of keeping us bed and beverages as we need it. Food was excellent. Location not too bad at all. Good job to the keg and Ajax.

We were seated parelle to huge party 16+. The kids were running back and forth. The waiter from the other tables butt so close his pants brushed our bread plate. Our sides were cold. My wine glass was dirty, when I asked for new glass waitress returned the same glass with the lip and finger prints smudged, so she just tried to wipe it of rather then bring a new one. Also was extremely loud we could not enjoy our meal. Spending $100 per person would expect better. Overall meal was 5/10. Postive creme brule was delish.

I would like to suggest that you consider adding some seasoning to your burgers, as I found the taste to be a bit bland. Unfortunately, this experience may prevent me from ordering the burger again in the future.

Made a reservation and was told there were multiple tables in front of us. People were waiting over an hour. Last time I came I told them I have an allergy. Normally the manger brings out food with allergies. They did not and I got sick. Everyone was angry with the wait time as people made reservations and were not sat on or even close to their pre-scheduled

I was not impressed with the food at all. The steak was dry, the lobster was excessively salty and dry, and the mashed potatoes were far too wet. I couldnt even finish the vegetables after just one bite. On a positive note, the service was good, and the bread was excellent. However, the overall dining experience left much to be desired.

From a die hard Keg fan who has never given any negative reviews to anyone - this place truly sucks! We have been here 5 times and out of those 5 times , all of them sucked! From over cooking the food to long serving time , poor hostess staff and non stocked wine menu , there isn t a thing this location that represents the brand. Having said that - Love the Keg and will continue to be a big fan of great locations like King West, mansion and North York!

We had a reservation at 7:30. We got there on time but they were running behind. So we had to wait 30 min more and eventually got the table at 8 pm. But the table was by the outside patio door. Every time the waiting staff opened the door of the Patio to get in or out cold air was gushing in. My family was very uncomfortable. We requested to change the table and it took another 40 min to get a table. We were celebrating my wife s birthday and when she got the food, mashed potato had a hair in it. Very poor experience given how much you pay for the food. However, our server was great and tried his best to accommodate us given the experience.

Everything was PERFECT. I have the sirloin Oscar with a lobster and garlic mashed, and my husband had sirloin with garlic mashed and shrimp. This location never disappoints. And we got a free cheesecake to help us celebrate an upcoming milestone

As always the Keg was a great experience. The food was delicious as usual. Our server Kayla was incredibly engaging and witty. She definitely made our experience better. All the staff was great, and of course the steak was incredible I had the 20oz rib steak with butter on the side

Came here the other day with my family for a birthday, our server Dorian was amazing! So sweet and very attentive, he made our experience amazing!

My family has always enjoyed the Keg, but I havent had one of those very satisfying experiences for a few years, and Ive been going there less and less often. Whether it is takeout or dining in, my husband and I are always left feeling unimpressed. This evening I picked up takeout, we didnt feel like going out to eat. I only live a few minutes away, and my food is always still hot when I pick up from this and other nearby restaurants. Tonight the take out food from the Keg was COLD - both the appetizer, the steak and the sides, my husbands meal was also cold. Eating cold food isnt nearly as enjoyable as hot food, but greasy crispy onions is a huge turn off. The quality of the steak also seems to have declined - the last couple of times my steak has been hard to cut and sinewy. Even the medium rare prime rib was harder to cut than usual. I keep returning hoping that the standards will improve, but I have to face facts - this restaurant has slipped and its time to spend my hard earned money somewhere else.

Great restaurant for Ajax region

It was our last dinner before returning to Italy and we couldnt have chosen a better place! The waitress who served us was very kind and helpful and the dishes we tasted were one better than the other. Truly recommended, if possible we will happily return! Wheelchair accessibility: Yes

The food is tasty, service was great, but we sat on the patio and there was a big problem with wasps. I feel a better job can be done by hiding some wasp catchers to keep them away. They were all over our food/drinks. It wasn t a relaxing dinner because of it.

Unfortunately, my choice of steak did not allow it to be grilled as I like it. My favorite steak is blue, The Sirloin I ordered was more of a wedge shape and could not be grilled evenly. It was medium rare. Strip loin is generally uniform and is more appropriate for a blue style presentation. Unfortunately, dining out is becoming a shouting match to communicate with those at your table. The server was very attentive and helpful. The cost for meals would not permit regular visits. Parking: So many venues in the same location make parking difficult. Very few Handycap spots.

Held a surprise 90th birthday party here and they were so accommodating with our large party. They worked with us planning in advance so there were no surprises. The food was wonderful, service was impeccable. Not the first time we visited, and certainly wont be the last.

Had the surf and turf prime rib and lobster tail and the calamari for the appetizer. Prime ribs were done perfectly, mine was ordered medium rare. Lobster was equally amazing and served with the typical melted butter. Dusted calamari was really good as well.

Have to flag the absolutely great service from Andrew our server and both managers. One of our guests has a very bad garlic allergy and the team took exceptional great care in attending to her needs-above and beyond. Food and atmosphere was also very good.

It was my first time here last night. I came in with high expectations because I know The Keg is more on the pricey side and well lol. We started with the crispy cauliflower which was 10/10 amazing. I d go there for just that. Then I had the keg classic with top sirloin. The salad it comes with is huge and just your basic Cesar salad. The steak was meh. I ve had better home cooked ones. Insane how its so pricey yet doesn t have taste. The vegetables also didn t have any taste. No seasoning, nothing. The service was alright. Our server was constantly checking in on us which we did find annoying. Every 10 minutes asking if everything s alright and eventually she just stood there between tables just watching. It was weird and very uncomfortable. You can definitely find better cheaper restaurants. My first and last time here. Would really only come back for some crispy cauliflower.

First time going to the keg. Its pricy, but you really do get a good meal out if it.

While the food at the Keg is still top notch the service has become lax and dismissive. We booked a booth several days in advance arrived for our reservation a few minutes early and were told the booth would be ready in a couple of minutes. We told the hostess we would be a few feet away in the bar area so she could let us know when the booth was ready. After several minutes we found the hostess completely forgot about us and gave away the booth. And in an attempt to rectify the mistake we were led to a small, corner table. This is not acceptable. And Im sure if staff were treated this way in another restaurant they would find the situation unacceptable as well. The Keg delivers good, quality food and they charge a premium price for it. The service should be of similar quality.

Took my family out for a birthday dinner. Lobster tail came dried out. Requested a medium rare steak steak came well done thank goodness for the butter. Not the same anymore! I was just in there for dinner with my woman ( wife daughters and mother) We were celebrating my wife s birthday. Again at this location the server failed in making the memory a positive one with the simplest gestures like a candle at the end of the meal. I didn t realize I needed to buy and bring a cake to have a celebration. We did notify our server at the beginning of dinner we were celebrating in hopes that he had me covered in that sense total disappointment. Our server was extremely slow with everything his lack of attention to details like leaving plates on the table Asking to clear our appetizers Half eaten still being worked on. neglecting all the stack of dirty plates off to the side prepared for him to take.drinks left empty no cutlery or side plates when we first sat down. Last but not least when I went to pay the bill I was trying to process a couple gift cards that were given to My wife for her birthday for some reason, it was not working on the terminal. After a few attempts. I did notice the only option the waiter give me was to tip by percentage not having any problem tipping. I ve always selected the 18% seeing it was low amount to tip without hitting skip. After a few attempts with no success using the gift cards, I was prepared to pay my bill in full This time the terminal offered me three different Options tip by amount tip by percentage and no tip seems like the waiter automatically selects the option for the customer Encouraging to tip percentage. I found this very disrespectful and a little bit slimy as I left. I tried to bring it up with a manager who seemed like he was way too busy to have a conversation running off his feet carrying plates back-and-forth. Extremely disappointed with the direction this keg has gone I will now be finding another Keg to Call Home oh yeah, and the food was terrible. Prime rib sandwich the meat was diced up in small chunks. The mashed potatoes were dry. The nachos came out burnt so hard to a crumble. The cocktails they served seemed not to have any alcohol in them just fruity slushy drinks, not worth the $20 per cocktail.

My favourite location

Went for dinner with my wife who was craving a lobster roll. I ordered a glass of J Lohr. We had to remind the server because she forgot to bring it and then she said they were all out! Then we went to order our meal only to find out that lobster rolls were not available. We saw lots of lobster being served so we are not sure why there were no lobster rolls. Couldnt you have made one up?? The Keg has always been one of our favourite restaurants. Suffice to say you dropped the ball big tie tonight. We probably wont hurry back!

A little disappointed coming here for a birthday. Been to the Keg hundreds of times and the food and service was subpar. The fillet we asked for it to be peppercorn and there was barely any roll on the steak. We asked for a Chicago sirloin which was not Chicago at all. The shrimp skewer did not come out with any butter. Service was extremely slow and it was not busy at all. Quite disappointing service for such a great restaurant chain. Hopefully your experience is better than ours.

We were served by Allister and had an incredible experience! He was very charming, humorous and incredibly well mannered, which made the experience that much better. Will definitely be back again and request to sit in his section!

I dined at The Keg recently, and it was once again a disappointment. The quality of the food was abysmal, indicative of a chain restaurant in a lower-end suburb. We ordered several appetizers, a bottle of wine, and cocktails. Unfortunately, both our steaks were overcooked and over-seasoned, though the heavy seasoning seems to be a hallmark of The Keg, so we wont fault them for that. Despite our server being excellent, we wont be returning. Additionally, as we were leaving, an Asian woman, possibly the manager, gave us a dirty look and snickered, adding to our negative experience.

We love The Keg. This location has a beautiful patio. The food was delicious, and the portions were perfect. For desert, Billy Miner Pie, make sure you save room for it. Our server was very sweet and was so attentive.

Beware, small red ants in packaged crackers were served with my daughter s meals. Unfortunately we will not be frequenting this restaurant again. With their kids meals the crackers were clearly not inspected prior and when my daughter opened them and ate one she began screaming after seeing the bugs. Management did apologize but did nothing further. I feel like there was a lack of care towards us and our experience. The atmosphere was nice but the food and service was deplorable.

The Keg Ajax never disappoints. We were celebrating an early Fathers Day. The food was delicious and prepared exactly as requested. A special shout out and big thanks to our server Nadine who was always smiling, welcoming, and knowledgeable. Her recommendation of wine was a hit. We will surely be back.

Update: After speaking with guest services my family and I visited again. This time was unlike any other time Ive visited. There was a lot more care in the service provided. Our waiter was amazing. There were no substantial delays, food came out in a timely manner. Food was cooked perfectly. Honestly, my one and only complaint is that this isnt the norm. I truly enjoy eating the food here and the service can be spectacular when theres good reason for it. I thoroughly appreciate the efforts put in by staff. Id recommend to anyone who has a less than desirable experience to reach out to the restaurant and give them another chance. Im quite happy to return again. -- So Ive been to this location a whole bunch of times but I dont think Ill go back. I went for my birthday earlier this week and it was such a disappointing visit. Portions seemed smaller, and a couple of our party agreed. The portion of veg was 2 small broccoli crowns and half of a beet. Thats bananas. My steak seemed petite compared to what the usual experience is. Perhaps they reduced sizes? I dont know. Oh and a couple of us (myself included) had overcooked steaks which we got about an hour after being sat (no apps except a couple of starter salads). :( Comp for that was free dessert that I cant even eat due to my diet. Yay... Service was reasonably slow. We were seated about 15 minutes late, despite having a booking. Lighting was extra dim at the start, lights were turned up mid-meal. Drinks took a while to come despite half the table only wanting water. Getting bread was slow. Mains were slow. It wasnt even all that busy. Mostly empty tables. Server was nice and engaging at the end of the meal when it came time to collect, but didnt have a lot of personality throughout. He was polite and did his job though. Honestly the whole night was subpar. Its the first non-diet meal I got to have in a month and a half and it was just a let-down. Why go spend a whole lot of money for a sub-par experience?

My wife and I went there on Wednesday, June 19th for her graduation dinner. The service was great, we had Ethan as our waiter. He was very nice and was a great talker! Unfortunately, we had a bad experience with our food. I ordered the 62$ Rib Steak, medium rare. It was a shame to see the best steak the keg sells come out half raw. The other half was more so medium rather than medium rare too. After mentioning the raw steak to Ethan (he was nice), he said that they foil the bone, making it hard to get to temp and nothing was done. . If I knew ordering a 62$ steak would be half raw I wouldn t have ordered it.

First time coming to this location and it won t be my last! Our server, Cyvo, made my whole night. His vibes were amazing and he s so friendly. Food was fresh and tasty (also loved the drink he recommended). Will definitely be back! :)

Great food and service went for Mothers Day

We were celebrating three birthdays and the services provided were wonderful. The food speaks for itself ... delicious. Every staff helped one another and I find that rare as I have only experienced this at The Keg establishments that I have been to. I really enjoy coming to this particular location because it is a lot easier to talk to the friends and family and it could be the design of the building? A great place to visit with amazing everything! Thank you for making my family celebrations a fun and memorable one.

Overall it was a good experience, we went pretty late so there wasnt a big crowd. Ordered a medium Steak and it was closer to rare. Three pepper wings were perfect and the crab cakes were ok but not worth the price at all. Service wise overall it was good but small things like when we asked for something we had to ask two or maybe even three times for it by the time it showed up. It wasnt that busy so we didnt understand why the server kept forgetting. But overall he was great and his recommendations were perfect. Kid friendly not baby friendly especially if you bring a stroller. Kid-friendliness: Okay for kids not for babies with a stroller

Great experience with my family as we all celebrated mothers daughter together. On hiccup occurred that warranted the removal of one star in regards to the service. It occurred when my appetizer was late getting to the table because the wait staff forgot to execute my order. However, in the spirit of goodwill, the cost for the appetizer was removed. To further rectify the oversight, the appetizer was also presented, again at no charge. We would definitely dine at this restaurant again because we enjoy the ambiance and the positive experiences we encounter on every visit.. Vegetarian options: Salmon
