Came for a pick up order and waited 45 mins as other customers who came after were served their food. While I was not expecting fast food times I didn’t expect to wait nearly an hour either. At the very least they could have apologized for the wait or even offered me something to drink as I waited at the bar
Went for lunch food was good service freindy was very surprised! Would go again. I had grilled cheese and butternut soup. My son had a beef dip with beef barliy, and it was good 👍 was a good lunch! big menu 😋

I’ve visited countless restaurants over the years, and while Ajax may not be a bustling metropolis, it holds a hidden gem: Westney Diner. This cozy neighborhood spot offers delicious food, fantastic prices, and unbeatable service. It’s a place where everyone feels at home, thanks in large part to the incredible Miriam—our silver fox and the heart of the diner. I’ve seen many restaurant pros in action, but when Westney Diner gets busy, no one can “make and shake” like Miriam. Her energy, skill, and warmth set her apart. She may have a few more years under her belt, but that only adds to her charm and expertise. Miriam, thank you for being the best at what you do. My daughter and I visited this restaurant on Tuesday, October 29th, around 6:00 pm. It was a busy evening, and the server, an older woman, was assisting arriving guests while also handling payments. To clarify, this review is not about the food—the food was excellent. However, the customer service we received from this particular server was extremely disappointing. Upon entering, we waited patiently to be acknowledged, but the server ignored us while immediately attending to customers who had just arrived. My daughter eventually approached her to request a menu for takeout. After about five minutes, we were ready to place our order and waited patiently once again. Although I understood the restaurant was busy, what happened next seemed discriminatory. The server was about to take my daughter’s order when another customer entered. She immediately turned away from us and approached the new customer instead. Even when the customer insisted we should be served first, the server ignored them and continued taking their order. Only after this exchange did she return to us to take our order. We ordered the daily special, which was advertised as “any pasta for $15.99” and included garlic bread and a salad. After placing our order, I thanked the other customer for their courtesy, and we waited for about 25 minutes. When our order was ready, the server charged us full price for the pasta instead of the advertised special price. I questioned the charge, and she replied that I should have specifically requested the "special." I pointed out that the sign indicated “any pasta” for the special price. Meanwhile, I noticed that she had seated a family of three, took their order, and provided them with the special—including the salad—without them mentioning it explicitly. I overheard this as I was standing nearby. The server eventually corrected our charge but omitted the salad that was supposed to accompany the special. This wasn’t our first visit to the restaurant, and we’ve always had positive experiences with other staff members. However, this particular server’s behavior was concerning. It was disheartening to see her prioritize other customers while seemingly disregarding us.

Stopped by here with my mom and my wife for a mid afternoon lunch/dinner and the food was delicious! I had a 1pc Halibut and chips, my mom had the hot chicken sandwich with vegetables which she thought was very good, especially the vegetables! Last but not least, my wife had the Mediterranean wrap and soup which was also very nice. I work in Ajax and I decided to take my mom and wife here after a day trip to the Toronto Zoo. It was a great way to end the day! Will definitely be back!
We dropped in here for lunch around 1pm. The server told us to take a seat. The restaurant is divided in 3 sections- patio, bar with booths and dining area. We sat in a booth. We ordered the California club sandwich for $13.99 and the buffalo bites with fries $13.99. The prices are reasonable. We waited over 30 minutes for our food. The food was ok. The music was a little country rock and a little loud. This place started to get busy as the time went on. I guess they have alot of regulars.

Sat on the patio, which was quite nice, esp in an industrial area- 2 large screen tvs and plenty of shade. Our server was awesome, friendly and fast. Had a beef dip and a salad and both were excellent. Definitely recommend - dont let the looks fool you.
I have been a customer since 2019 I love this place great menu and they have daily specials and fresh soups daily and I have many meals here very delicious and nice portions the staff are very efficient and friendly great family place.
We were ignored when we came for brunch while the server was busy watching TV and serving other customers. We waited a long time only to get overcooked eggs and undercooked potatoes.

A nice eatery to enjoy beverages and food with friends in neighborhood. This place offers all day breakfast, which is handy when you want a later breakfast. The club house sandwich is awesome. Would not suggest the eggs Benedict, but the big hanger was awesome. It has a decent patio and appy hours.

Since they fired their chef, food has been terrible. Fish and chips taste like curry. Have an old waitress whose face would crack if she smiled. Made us feel like we were in grade school. Owner is crooked. Avoid this dive!
Had a great lunch. I had very hot steaming chicken fajitas which were great. Our first visit here. Its a 2 room restaurant and bar with a large outdoor patio. Large T.Vs. for sports watching. Located in south Ajax. Service was fast and friendly.
April 28 : I ordered a buffalo chicken wrap. When I received my order, there was no buffalo sauce, only ranch or caesar. I unrolled my wrap and showed my tablemates to be sure and they agreed. Two dishes of three were sent back a cold soup and my wrap. When the waitress brought my food back she insulted me, said That WAS the buffalo wrap. There WAS sauce on it, the cook just put MORE on. I opened it to find it full of white sauce and a tiny bit of buffalo(orange). However being talked back to by staff had put me off, and I felt too uncomfortable to ask why my buffalo wrap was full of ceasar dressing and not buffalo. I found this to be very unprofessional of the staff at westneys. Tldr: asked for buffalo sauce on buffalo wrap. Got caesar twice, no explanation. Instead got back talked to by waitress. Note: the womens washroom neither locks nor latches (this is a bar) It has been made aware to me that there is a gap in the door frame of the mens washroom where you can see straight into the restaurant and vice versa. April14: served coffee in a dirty cup This is hardly the first time Ive received the wrong order or bad coffee here, but it is certainly the last time for me.
This is an update to an old negative review. After a number of years avoiding this business, I have recently returned and the business has won me back on the merits of their food, prices and service. I could do without the country music thats in the background, and sometimes the blue lighting below the booths is a bit irritating, but overall, its an improvement and my wide and I are here at least once a week now.
First time dining, and it did not disappoint. Amazing staff and delicious food. Ill be back.

The kitchen staff was terrible!!!! We waited one hour for what was eventually take out. Our server was very pleasant. Unfortunately the kitchen staff ruined this evening and will prevent us from visiting again.

I visited GG s restaurant with my family (6 of us) last Sunday for Mother s Day late lunch and was very pleased with the food and service. Pat, our waitress was fantastic. She was very pleasant, attentive and most efficient. It was the first time my family visited and they all said they would go back. The food was plentiful and tasty. We got good value for our money. A clean and great neighbourhood family restaurant. I saw one area that could be improved - replacement of outdoor patio plastic tablecloths

It was such a cozy place with average size serving great food. Our dinner was great and served warm. The senior citizen woman serving us was amazing, friendly, and charming. Prices were reasonable, too.

Everything about our breakfast was very good. The western omelette was large with fresh eggs, lots of ham, onions, and green peppers. Delicious. The hash browns were very tasty with a smoky onion flavour. The rye bread was of high quality. The coffee was fresh and above average. Finally, the service was prompt and friendly.
Not sure whats changed, but recently their food has been sub par and they keep forgetting things in our take out orders. Mostly dips, dressing and gravy. Its annoying especially since you pay extra for some of them. Today was the last straw ordered the coconut curry chicken with upgraded ceaser. (Again ceaser dressing was missing) and it was gross. No coconut nor curry flavour. Tasted like nothing, actually tasted more like water. Edit: started coming back here. Sticking to the basics burgers and fries cant mess that up... it wasnt bad. Added star EDIT 2: That was definitely NOT Halibut
Were about a 4 hour drive away staying at a nearby hotel and wanted something homey to bring kids to. All I can say is Food was amazing, prices were fabulous, service was super fast and friendly and overall it was a fantastic experience. Kudos to the 1 waitress Sunday July 9th at 5:30 pm who served the entire restaurant and didnt skip a beat. Amazing

Most of the food Ive tried here is quite amazing, even for bar food. The service is friendly and quite prompt. Portions are very much worth the money! Definitely a great place for a bite! My complaints: The club could use more mayo, it was pretty dry and please CLEAN YOUR TAPS I want to sit and be able to enjoy a pint, but unfortunately the beer tastes rancid.

Westneys Restaurant is one of the best restaurants in town. I took my wife and daughter there, we ordered a burger meal it was very juicy and it was homemade, we also ordered a poutine which was very pleasant and we ordered pasta which was very creamy and delicious. The place is very neat amd it looks lovely when you walk in. We recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a place to eat in Ajax Vegetarian options: They had many veggie options Kid-friendliness: The waiters were very nice to my daughter

Parking: Always a Daily Special + Whats on their Additional Menu Board. The Staff and Kitchen Cooks are great. The food, almost all dishes (cant speak to the ones I havent had...) are great with great portions too.. definitely worth a go and is family friendly. In the summer, there is outdoor covered patio as well. Kid-friendliness: The menu has kids menu within it and for the older kids.. plenty to choose, burgers, wings, macaroni and on the breakie side...eggs, pancakes, french toast, fruit etc

Food is usually good but tonight it was disgusting. Mashed potatoes were instant and full of water, I couldn t eat. Server was good but he was young and I think he didn t know what to do. No discount for bad food.

A group of five of us had dinner here today. It was clean and tidy, well lite. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Prices were normal but you got a lot of food for the money. Patio was open but we chose to sit indoors. Very busy but we were seated very fast. All 5 of us really enjoyed our dinner and conversation. We will be definitely coming back.
We had lost power after the big storm...so breskfast was terrific and they even let us charge our phones. Servers were kind and patient.

Food was amazing, big portions and very tasty. I wouldn t complain at all, only issue was that our waitress was very rude - I think we just got the wrong one she seemed to want nothing to do with us at all. I will definitely go back, hoping it was just an off day for her.

visited it at lunch on 08/09. Service was decent and fairly quick. Reason for 2 stars > ordered 3 dishes. Club Sandwich, Spinach 0melet and breakfast special. Club Sandwich was ok, lacked flavor but made fresh. Fries were store bought frozen fries. Spinach omelet was hardly touched as my son said it tasted wrong! Breakfast special, bacon and potatoes were good but the scrambled egg tasted like bottled product and not fresh eggs. When considering the many breakfast placed in Ajax, this is one I wouldnt try again!
A nice relaxing bicycle ride along the Ajax waterfront ended with some Wings and Beer at Westneys Restaurant and Bar. The Dry Cajun Wings were very crispy but I would have liked a little more flavour (seasoning). It was, however, a pretty good deal at half price, every Monday. This was my first visit to this establishment. The service was good and they have some pretty good daily specials. Ill have to come back to explore their offerings. This was another trial of the camera in the Google Pixel 6 Pro, shot as JPEG. The images are nice and crisp, as were the wings!
This was one of our favorite places to eat, we supported them before, during and after covid but will not return. On our last visit i was asked to clean up the floor before we left! My 18 month old grandson had dropped some food, he does not have full use of his hands since he has had two strokes since january, not that that matters. This was a waitress who knows us, knows his situation but still asked us to clean the floor! This was the last of a series of issues over the last few months.

Have ordered lunches before and enjoyed the meal. However this time after ordering a clubhouse sandwich. No chicken on one part of the sandwich, some lettuce was browning, fries were soggy. Disappointing

We have been regulars for many years. We really miss the wait staff - Lindsay and Wendy were awesome! My elderly father really looked forward to our breakfasts there. Sadly, our fav ladies have left. The new staff are a bit cold and, at times, gruff. We went twice this week. Both times the eggs were over cooked -asked for over medium but yolks were hard. We were asked if we liked bacon crispy or soft. We requested soft...but it was like eating dried bark. To top everything off, their early bird special advertised by the road is very misleading. It states $5.99 up to 10,:00am. When we asked for 2 specials with glasses of water to drink, we were told we HAD to order a beverage in order to get the special price. Our bill ended up being the equivalent of 3 specials, instead of 2! Sadly, our devotion to the Westney Restaurant has ended.

My first eating out experience since Covid this year! Beautiful patio with real flowers, a small water feature, some of their best servers and the best Mediterranean Wrap Ive ever had. The sweet potatoes fries were perfect and so were the onion wings! Lunch was never better!

Honestly, after being in lock down for the 3rd time, this place gave an opportunity to enjoy a nice evening with my family, with couple cold ones and wings. Food was excellent , price was excellent, atmosphere is good, patio is great (no major street noise), and the service without a doubt was excellent. Thank you to the older server lady that served our wings and beers, to watch you go back and forth in this heat, great respect to you. And thank you for making our evening a memorable one. Westney restaurant and bar is a place to be to beat this heat.

Went to check out djcalvinjames mixing on the patio on Saturday night, he brought great music and good vibes going all night long! I had the fish sandwich. Very reasonably priced! The entire menu was really affordable with lots of variety. Service was great and we enjoyed ourselves.

Breakfast was delicious - it s hard to get poached eggs medium, and the chef nailed it. Staff was lovely, fast and helpful. And it wasn t super busy so they let me bring my little dog on the patio Five stars all around!

I went to this place few months ago, we went in the evening and got breakfast which was pretty good and price was quite reasonable, the employee was friendly and nice and the service was quick.

I went there for the first time last week, the server was very friendly, I had the roast beef sandwich with fries, they both tasted amazing, Im really not a French fry person, but with the gravy they were scrumptious! I highly recommend this restaurant!!!

Our second visit to this friendly, cozy spot. Great family style atmosphere and yummy food! Waitresses very friendly ( one pretty funny really!) & efficient. I had the salmon dinner with tasty rice & Greek salad, best salmon dish Ive ever had. My husband had their hamburger & fries, great homemade burger with the works for half price Thursday! Bonus!! Our compliments to the chef on our great food both times! We will surely be back!

We ordered Chicken Parm, Veal Parm & a Greek Salad for pickup last night. It was ready on time, piping hot when we uncovered it at home, very generous portions & tasted fabulous!
Trying to do take out once a week from local diner. We have visited here several times before the pandemic and always great. Ordered for take out warm spinach salad, gyros wrap and wings. Their portions are big and tasty. They have maintained their great standards.

I ordered the share plater. I didnt get the things that were listed on the menu. So my advice is to ask. Like you will have to for refills and silverware. Bottom line food is decent and decently priced. Service is hit or miss depending on who is working.

I I have been to this place many times I have had many daily specials like pasta with chicken last visit I decided to try there fish n chips I was amazed the portion was very plentyfull it was halibut fish and it wasnt oily and the fries were vert tasty with nice Cole slaw and fresh tartar sauce and I.must say the staff is very freindly and fast service .

Had an amazing lunch with my family here on Sunday. There was only 1 server on but she was very attentive, patient and kind. We did not wait long for our food and there were 10 of us. Food was great and milkshake was very good as well. There was also hand sanitizer right on the table! Amazing service, amazing food. Will definitely be back.
Westneys is a classic example of a neighborhood restaurant where all-day breakfast, homeburgers, fish and chips and chicken wings are local favorites. But in addition to their tasty regular fare, their daily specials are also delicious...and all at a very reasonable price. I love how theyve added acrylic dividers for social distancing. They follow the provinces health protocol to a T by taking your name & number for tracing and even adding a hand sanitizer on each table. I recommend.
Great little neighborhood restaurant. Friendly service and decent food for a value proposition that you wouldnt normally get at chain.

July 5 2019 Had great meal , 2 fish dinners, chicken strips n fries and buffalo wrap ... 60$ fair price for what we had, 2 piece fish is really just 1 piece cut in half tho June 25 2019 Decent meal 2day, not usual standard May 30 2019 ... Back again this morning, fantastic as always ... Had Western with Fries, Fish n Chips, Pancakes and Ham , Philly Cheesesteak, coffees ... All for 54 bucks ... Service was great always from our fav lady. May 2019 ... Our local spot ... They do a great job here with home style menu ... Food is a good portion and priced fair. Breakfast, lunch or dinner the menu is excellent , with legit specials everyday ... Had a few bad hires with new servers ... Seem to turn over quick ... But the one lady that is akways there is awesome ... Try the chicken parm ... Its done to perfection April 2019 Terrible service today, average food, coffee was old, soup was half empty.
I always feel relaxed when I have brunch here. Friendly staff. Tasty meals. Its the one of my favorite spot!
