Reason for Atmosphere one star. Alots of people allergic for jasmine fragrance. Where I was entre the store, jasmine fragrance strong smell. I had very hard time to breathe. Not only me, the people stay there, they also have same problems.
This restaurant is the best go-to breakfast spot in Ajax for South Indian dishes! It’s a takeout-only outlet, but they serve a wide variety of items that won’t disappoint. There’s usually a line-up every morning, and their chutneys often run out by 11:45 am. Each dish is reasonably priced, and they offer breakfast combos as well—just ask the server for details. They also sell breads, chips, pop sodas, and other dry snacks you'd typically find in Indian or Sri Lankan grocery stores. This place brings a nostalgic taste of home and is a must-try for brunch or breakfast!
I recently visited New Spiceland Restaurant & Bakery and had a fantastic experience! The selection of products was impressive, with a wide variety of options to choose from, along with the store being well organized and clean. The staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to help with any questions I had.
This spot is quite convenient for Ajax locals looking to grab a quick snack. They offer a wide variety of options, though the quality can be inconsistent. While their paalappams are excellent at times, other times they’re just okay. I’m a big fan of their masala tea, which is always served piping hot! The only downside is that they sometimes underestimate the wait time, telling you it’ll be ready in a couple of minutes, but it can take 10-15 minutes instead. Aside from that, the staff is generally efficient.
My purpose for visiting Spiceland Restaurant was to explore their pre-prepared food selection. However, by approximately 6:30 pm, the dishes they had on display seemed noticeably diminished. In comparison to some of the other Sri Lankan fast food takeout establishments I've frequented, the choices didn't appear as tempting. As a result, I made the decision to forgo the food options available at that time.
This place serves Sri Lankan cuisine (similar to Tamil cuisine in India). Ordered the mutton curry, squid curry, fish fry and coconut rice rolls. The food is tasty if you are into spicy food - but ofcourse it’s quite rich and oily. They have different portions available and the pricing is reasonable. The place is quite popular but if you’re new there you might struggle to understand what each item is because they don’t have the items labelled - God knows why! But you can wait for someone to come to your side of the counter or simply use the ‘excuse me’ technique.

Best breakfast combo under $6🤯👍🏽👍🏽 which is ready for you as soon as 7:15 am🤯😁. Appreciate their service from the kitchen staff to front staff for their tireless service! They are trying their best and I’m thankful for that. Food quality specially veggie rice and curry awesome ( always try to make different curries as possible). Of course some changes will be added to make better, such as quick service line for those in a hurry and only needed snacks and tea which you got to try!! Keep up the food quality and great customer service 🙏🏽. Thanks to all the staff including management 🙏🏽🙏🏽🥇.

Latley the store give less portions to a point you need to buy extra.. today I notice the roti size got very small. But the price for all the food items are gone up. This is not a luxury item, just food, dont skim the portions.

Cold Food, Hygiene Issues, and Upset Stomachs Avoid This Place!!! We ordered takeout from New Spice Land restaurant in Ajax, and for the second time, it caused my family to experience upset stomachs and diarrhea. The food, especially the dry chicken (which was too dry), and all the curries were served cold, which is unsafe and concerning. The staff did not wear gloves while handling the food, and there is a clear lack of hygiene awareness. Flavor-wise, their tea and vada are good, but that s about it. We will not be returning, and I would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone due to serious hygiene and food safety concerns.

I usually don t go to this location but since I was in the area I wanted to get short-eats. I got the mutton Pattie s and when I took the first few bites it tasted so salty/lemony.. I thought they just put too much salt or lemon but the night of I had serious food poisoning.. so the meat clearly went bad
You want to try hoppers this the place. Good hoppers I buy every weekend. Generally all their dishes are good. Clean taste good services.i give 9 out of 10
The customer service here is probably the worst regardless of what time of day you go. There are 2 cash tills available, yet they decide to utilize only 1 leading to an increase of wait time to pay for your order. The staff in charge of the cash till have trouble coordinating the orders in sequence and just scramble for whatever comes to their hand. Unacceptable.

I get breakfast from here occasionally. On some days the Sambar that comes with Idly has the tasty tamilian flavor and on some unlucky days it tastes like the Jaffna sambar(turmeric mixed in spicy hot water with boiled vegetables). Why? is it so hard to stick to the same formula that works every time? If you cannot make a decent sambar, please take it off the menu

This place is Amazing for Sri Lankan or South Indian cuisine. They carry a variety of South Indian snacks & sweets. We love their breakfast combo of Idly, dosa & vada. Pretty good masala tea too. Vegetarian options: Many veg options.

Oh my god. I really loved everything over here. Mallus tamilians or whoever it might be you will love everything over here especially if you are an Indian or even if you are from any part of the world and love south indian food come pals and enjoy the food. I am a tea lover so I can say the tea is very good over here. Vada,ullivada,curries what more you will love here. Please keep in mind this is my pov and my taste buds. If you have different taste buds its completely upon you.

People at this restaurant are awesome. If you are craving for authentic sri lankan food from dosa to short eats this is the place to go. Lot of sweets as well. They are open till late. Plenty of parking.

The entire kitchen came out to see me because I made them make my kothu roti as spicy as possible. Considering the volume of people they interact with in a short time and the amount of things they have to do, the people that work at the front are some of the most amazing people!

The best place for authentic Sri Lankan food. Every time I go here the food tastes so fresh! The taste and spices and absolutely astounding. Highly recommend this location for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Kiruba and the staff always go above and beyond to make sure I am happy. Everyone is very friendly and polite. We ordered paal appams, egg appams, puttu and vadas. They were exceptionally tasty and authentic. We always preorder, and the food is ready for pick-up. The service staff are pleasant, food is reasonably priced . Highly recommended.

I would say I am a regular customer at this place. Their Vadais, parottas and appams wont disappoint you. I always order the appams ahead of time and they are made fresh. Their mutton rolls are ok. Worth the visit.
Called in to order a large amount for a construction crew of 6, asked simple questions and the lady that answered the phone kept trying to brush me off then hung up the phone on me and when I called back they didnt answer. Abysmal customer service and ill make sure none of the construction guys ever order food from here.

Everytime I go to this place, I have the worst experience ever. Their line up is the worst.its like you have to fight your turn. The employees jus ignore you and they dont even serve you in order . Once they literally served 5 people that came behind me .its ridiculous. Yhr employees dont even apologize.The owner doesnt care. He goes and hide in the kitchen and hide when I asked to complain. Im never going bck there again.

I love their mixed fried rice specially and also have tried other food like koththu and Biriyani. I wanted to rate because every time I try their food, the taste remains the same and so delicious. The portion is also big that s always good for 2-3 people. Never dissapointed. Service also excellent and welcoming.

We usually go to the restaurant as we believe the quality and the price are reasonable. I bought 2 mutton rolls and it was put in the small bag by the server. The cashier spoke to me in Tamil and I spoke to her back in English. She took both rolls to the other employee and was talking about something that I had no clue about. Then the cashier took the bag of rolls to the back through the door in the middle. Came back and mentioned that she wanted to make sure something. I paid for the rolls, came outside, and threw both rolls into the garbage bin outside. JUST A WARNING TO EVERYONE. IF THE FOOD IS TAKEN OUT OF YOUR VICINITY, NEVER BUY THEM. NEVER EAT THEM. IT IS SIMPLE AS THAT. THERE IS A REASON WHY FOOD QUALITY AND SAFETY GUIDELINES ARE IN PLACE IN THIS COUNTRY. ALSO, THE TRUST IN WHAT YOU BUY PLAYS AN IMPORTANT ROLE AS WELL.

Always go to this place whenever we want something spicy & flavourful, because regular Indian food is not spicy for us..overall the taste is really good, our favorite is the mutton curry rice combo (spicy & savory, so good). New Spicyland Catering Ajax has been our go to place for Sri Lankan takeout in Durham. We find that there are lot of options whenever we go to the store. The food is really fresh and yummy. Service is also amazing. The owner of the store has gone above and beyond sometimes when we place an order for visitors. It s nice that we don t have to travel to Scarborough for Sri Lankan food.
