I love this place sooo much. The sushi is so fresh, the prices are so good and the staff are soo kind. i get takeout at least once every two weeks. you can t beat the price.

Hard to beat, reliable, good food and very good service. This is regular spot for my family, and I m never disappointed, whether we eat in or take out. Kid-friendliness: My 5-y-o daughter is a fussy eater, but she s loves their basic tuna maki and their cucumber maki. The server even rigged up a rubber band on her chopsticks so she eat like the grownups. Great spot for the family to have a nice lunch or dinner.

Hello Sushi & Maki, Its one thing to serve good sushi and another to have customer service and respect. Ever heard of dont judge a book by its cover? ~ Would you appreciate a dining experience where you are Not initially served cutlery because the waiter assumes that you are unable to use them properly? And also have the audacity to tell you that you are accustomed to chop sticks, so why would you need cutlery? ~ Would you appreciate having the wait staff/Manager sit directly behind your table while you ate? The only time they removed themselves was when a south Asian guest joined the table? ~ Would you want to spend your money at a restaurant whose staff does not Respect you, nor have the common decency to be polite hosts? ~ Would you appreciate not being able to digest your food and being prompted to pay your bill 2-3 times in advance, while still eating your meal? ~ Would you support such a business in your community if they did not respect you? Regardless of the interactions that you may have had with other BIPOC customers, you may try NOT assuming that they are all are ill-behaved and ignorant. Proper Customer Service does not encompass behaving according to your prejudices. One of the wonderful things about Ajax and Durham Region is the diversity of its residents. Take a walk around the neighbourhood or support local teams/events. Try having conversations with people YOU feel uncomfortable with or are unfamiliar with. If that does not interest you, you have the freedom to resituate your business. Have a good day.

This has become our go to sushi delivery in Ajax. Everything is always so fresh and yummy. They nail it everytime. In dining is decent, service was a little on the slower side for a la carte... Probably under staffed considering it was Valentines day... It didnt seem like the AYCE customers were getting there food any quicker. Vegetarian options: The sweet potato roll is delicious, and their avocado is always perfect. Also tempura tofu is my kids absolute favorite thing in the menu.

WORST SERVICE EVER!!!!!! We were seated right away, however we waited 30 minutes before staff would even acknowledge our existence! We placed an order for all you can eat on the tablet. 2 separate parties came in after us and got served within minutes of placing their order. They made no eye contact with us, and after 30 minutes we asked to speak to the waitress .No apology, no reason, NOTHING. She just stared at us blankly like a deer caught in the headlights. We asked why they were ignoring us and didnt notice that we had no food. They had absolutely no response. If the ordering tablet wasnt working, they should have given us a new one. After they accepted the order via tablet. 3 dishes came to the table. It was hard, cold and tasteless. We decided not to stay and tapped the tablet to speak with the staff. No one came. We had to flag down a waitress again. They wanted us to pay full price for uneaten terrible food. The waitresses only paid attention to us when we said we were leaving. This place used to be nice, and the staff used to be very hospitable. I will NEVER go to this restaurant again. Save your money and go to Makimono.

First time eating at this place! We placed take out order at 5:30pm for an order of bento box and an order of sushi total of $40. Omg it s amazing ! The food is very fresh, delicious and large portions! I think it s the best sushi place in Durham! I used to eat a lot of sushi places in downtown Toronto, this place is really authentic. You definitely have to try!

The food is not fresh, the sashimi is not fresh, and the meat is not chewable at all. Moreover, the taste of many hot dishes is also very strange, the price is over and the service is not good, it is not recommended.

Ordered spicy crab rolls and have had them many times Today I got home and they were 25% smaller. I called the store and the answer they gave is they put more chewy in them. I won t be ever ordering from here again.

Been going to this place for years now when it was under a different name: Sushi and Rolls. To me this is possibly the best AYCE sushi in the GTA. The fish is always fresh the quality is consistent whether youre going for dinner or going for lunch and portion sizes are perfect. The salmon sashimi melts in your mouths. Their menu has a good variety of different rolls and food options. Staff is very accommodating and kind as well. Always look forward to visiting this place whenever the family and I are craving sushi. You wont be disappointed! Update: still awesome.

The food was terrible. The sushi was not fresh. It was pre-made and left in the fridge. They had heated it up and served it. The shrimp tempura was not crispy. Even the Wasabi and pickled ginger was old. So disappointed. Do not recommend. You can just buy a box of sushi from Walmart.

I came here after trying out a few different sushi restaurants in the area and also after reading the great reviews. I was skeptical at first but after coming here for their lunch AYCE, I was thoroughly impressed. All sushi restaurants cheap out and layer it with too much rice, but this place had the right amount of rice. Their service was excellent. Didn t have to wait long for food. Their staff was friendly. And the best part was that they had sashimi for lunch. Overall, this is my new favourite AYCE restaurant. Keep up the good work!!!

Ordered the gyoza dumplings, says it is a beef filling, 100% that was not beef and the taste was very bad. Had to toss the entire order after a few bites. My husband agrees. Can you confirm that was beef cause if it was, it wasnt from this planet.

The sushi was great, and their mango salad was really good . I took my daughters and my son-in-law as myself. The food was great and very tasty. My daughters Nad son-in-law est Japanese food along So they found the salmon and the roola to be very good and fresh. The service was very attentive, and the staff was friendly I really like the environment as its a small compared to the bigger sushi place. But for me I like that it feels more comfey. I would recommend giving them a try if you are in ajax. Its located near Harwood and Bailey

We went for the AYCE sushi, and really enjoyed ourselves! Some of our favourites included the grilled salmon and grilled tuna nigiri, the hockey role, grilled salmon belly, Alaska roll, Philly roll and the plain salmon nigiri! Vegetarian options: Lots of veggie options, including different rolls, nigiri, tempura, etc.

Decided to try this place out as we were looking for a new local sushi place. We went there around 9:15pm, they still welcomed us. We are happy to say it was really good and well be returning for sure in the future! It was worth the price. They have a variety of delicious rolls in and also have vegetarian options. Our new go to place for AYCE. Every time we have eaten here it s been good, always fresh! It s hard to find a sushi place that s always consistent so we re happy we found Sushi & Maki. We only go for dinner time though because during lunch they don t have much options but you can choose to do a la carte as well if you can t do AYCE. Staff is also super nice.

I visited the restaurant during my Toronto trip, and the experience was way way better than my hope. I opted for all you can eat, and weekday menu has multiple luxurious items to choose from. The dish delivery time is flash lightning, and the waitress are super nice to take care of us. The open bar looks very nice, I will try next time. I like spider roll the best. One thing I didn t know is that I came from Montreal where each serving in AYCE is mini-size, in here, everything comes out in full size so we had to try harder to finish all Also the waitress reminded me to finish my Sapporo inside and not to bring it out to avoid a public intoxication fine here, which is super nice because I wasn t aware.

Food is great and fresh but what brings my score down is the customer service. The servers were constantly lingering at our table and staring at us which made us feel uncomfortable. I don t know if they were doing this to prevent people from hiding extra food but I didn t feel comfortable constantly being stared at while I was eating. There was also no care when serving us the food, they just kept dropping the plates at the table and leaving after without a word. Overall the food was very good but I couldn t enjoy it as much with the servers constantly lingering at our table.

The best AYCE Ive been in a while. Pleasant staff and all the food was fresh. Every meal that was supposed to be hot was actually hot. And the sushi /sashimi platter was all fresh not crusty and dry. Its a nice spot to go in the neighborhood

Incredibly dissapointed. I called 2-3 times to ensure beef sashimi was in stock and was told yes every single time. I then went to the restaurant and there was none in stock BOTH times I visited. I will not return. Staff was incredibly rude about the entire situation.

Tried AYCE here on a weekday and it was great! The food was fresh (we had to wait a few mins to try the deep fried food because it was just out of the fryer and super hot) and service was great.

Ive ordered sushi and udon noodles a few times via delivery and has been consistenly good. Ive tried a bunch of sushi spots in Durham region and so far this one is the best.

Great service nice size sushi fish cuts fresh .rolls amazing recommend ajax roll . Dont look like much from outside nice clean and cozy .dinner was 26.99 plus a drink really on the average range . Tempura was great lots of batter .

Amazing service haven t been to a restaurant with that kind of service in a long time, I m a smaller guy don t have the largest appetite there all you can eat is $27 dollars very reasonable for the fresh fish and food, I didn t eat enough is what they said and gave me a credit I m not from around here but it will definitely bring me back when I do come back around !

Weve been coming here for years. Theres alot of sushi places in Ajax but this is our go to spot. The quality is always amazing and the staff are wonderful. In these times especially, hit this place up for some amazing takeout!

I got a takeaway of their favourite combo (sushi, sashimi and california rolls) and was really good and miso soup, salad with spicy sauce was complementary along it with.

We tried Sushi & Maki for the first time today after our regular go-to happened to be closed. After reading the mixed reviews, my expectations were not too high. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and taste of the maki rolls. We ordered Sakura, Green Dragon and also veggie tempura. Everything was very tasty! Great prices too. Will be back. Food is great but the server we had is so depressed that just ordering the food seemed like I was asking too much of her. I ordered the honey rolls over the phone thinking there wasn t any avocado in it (their online menu has no mention of it) my wife is allergic to it. When I went to pick it up we decided to dine in but they didn t offer a replacement and to not add to the servers misery I just ordered another. The chefs seemed nice though.

Decided to try this place out as I was looking for a new local sushi place. Really happy to say it was really really good and well be returning! They have a variety of really delicious rolls in and several vegetarian options. We tried some of their other chicken dishes and they were also very good! Didnt taste like your generic sushi joint side dishes (in a positive way!) and they were very tasty Overall everything was very fresh and tasty and also very fast and smooth ordering even during the Covid-19 pandemic. We will definitely be back!

When they are busy, they would not acknowledge or greet walk in customers. Only after many minutes of waiting you might have to walk over to talk to somebody yourself. And then they would look at you like a nuisance and say: an hour wait. Signaling you to walk away. I am a visitor to this town and this degree of work ethic is very off-putting.

Absolutely horrendous. If I could rate this a negative star review I would. It would be great to be compensated. I ordered takeout expecting the food would be fresh but all the sushi pieces were mushy and soggy. Very poor customer service skills. I have never had such soggy disgusting sushi in my life. The sauce that came with the tempura pieces was watered down and tasted like salt and water. The avocado on my green dragon roll looked old and mushy and soggy as well. Run for the hills don t go to this place EVER!

I have been dining at this location for YEARS. Today however, this was my last straw. Every encounter with the lady who takes the orders has been unpleasant. I ordered a party platter through skip the dishes, the platter did not specify which kind of sushi you would receive. I entered a note of what I would want because why would we pay almost 50 dollars for unknown items which we would potentially not eat? Anyways, I received a call from skip the dishes rep, who informed us that it was an extra five dollars to specify for the party platter. Both him and my partner said that made no sense, but we paid it anyway. I decided to call the restaurant in order to inquire into their rationale behind this. The same girl answered the phone and she was extremely abrupt. She said we were using a lot of salmon and tuna, to which I stated that I had nothing to choose on the actual app. I then asked her if I could speak to someone else and she said we re all busy ok? To which I replied I was about to cancel my order. She then informed me to proceed to cancel the order and hung up on me. I have ever experienced such a level of unprofessionalism from an establishment in my life. Not only was their reasoning behind the extra charge irrational, but I was faced with such poor customer service. It was such a shame because their food is actually quite good. Safe to say, we will not be ordering from them again. Heads up: if you order the party platter and specify what you want, be prepared to be scammed into paying more.

It used to be my favorite sushi place in Durham but theyve cut the all you eat menu in half and the place is very disorganized. I went the other day and almost felt like walking out because we had to wait so long not only to get a table (due to covid restrictions limited capacity) but with only 8 diners in the place the food took forever to get to the table. After an hour and a half I had to get back to work so we left with our orders not complete...never again!

Went to try it out since the reviews looked decent. Food was mediocre at best. I really tried to have a good experience, with second chances after second chances with each dish. Sashimi came out warm, not one piece but all of them. The rolls came half fallen apart. The beef was very very dry and then drenched in sauce. Tempura has a ratio of 80% batter and 20% food. Honestly don t understand how this place has a 4 star rating. The waitress is an older lady that was nice, but the food and quality could have been a lot better. If looking for an AYCE, much better of going to Makimono instead

I moved to Durham from Toronto, and after trying a few spots, I found this place the most consistent. Food: good to great, depends on day and time Service: always excellent, they re usually understaffed, but always are polite and have the hustle of a family owned spot (which I think they are) Pricing: in or around every other place I try in Durham, which is pretty cheap really (especially their wine!) Atmosphere: Well...... it s a Durham strip mall, don t expect much. It s bright and clean, you can t ask for too much more I guess. Overall opinion: Better than the franchise mono spots food/service wise. Atmosphere is lacking the style, comfort, and vibe that I like in any restaurant.

I used to go to Sushi T and T until I tried this little gem out. The sushi here is by far the freshest. They put in time and effort into making sure you are having the best sushi on your plate. The all you can eat is affordable and includes alot of things. I love the sashimi here, so fresh and delicious. The grilled muscles, garlic beef, and black pepper beef is absolutely some of the best Ive had. You are eating quality food here and I highly recommend it for sushi lovers. The best thing about this place is the service. A very nice woman comes around several times to make sure you have water and to make sure you are enjoying your food. Very good atmosphere. My fav sushi place for sure!!!!

Came here randomly, and was happily surprised. Servers were really nice!
