One woman operation and it does not disappoint. I got the spring rolls, pad thai, and chicken pineapple curry (recommended by the owner). The spring rolls were crispy and stuffed full of flavour and the sauce was tangy, sweet, with a slight spice to round it out. The curry is creamy, flavourful, sweet, and a touch of spice. It is hands down some of the best curry Ive ever had and the pad thai is chefs kiss. I will definitely be going back. Those 3 dishes cost around $35-40 and will feed me for 3-4 meals.

Her food is amazing. But she really needs to hire a person to take orders over the phone. She never answers and when she does she is very impatient and sometimes hangs up the phone before finishing the order. Vegetarian options: She has many and I love all her food

Before I comment on the food quality, I have to mention that it is so bizzare that the owner of the restaurant responds with asalaamoalaikum then walks away when you ask if the meat served is halal. They do not have halal food certificate either. Since the owner is a Muslim, I trusted her word but she is arrogant and harsh in her conversation. Not a nice experience. Pad Thai rice noodles 6/10

Fantastic food and excellent hostess

First time there & had a wonderful dining experience with my mom. Malinee runs the entire place and was so warm and welcoming. The food was fresh and very delicious, place was clean, & service was superb. Her homemade hot sauce is a must try! Looking forward to dinning here again when im in the area, & definitely would recommend for others! The pad thai is out of this world! 20/10

We discovered this place about a year ago and it s quickly become our favourite Thai food restaurant. The food is always fresh, delicious and served piping hot. I also like the quality of ingredients. They don t skimp out on the good stuff like some other places. Highly recommend!

Amazing authentic Thai flavours! The Beef Pa-Neng Curry punched me in the face with flavour. Once of the best things Ive ever eaten. The Red Curry with Pineapple was delicious as well. All the ingredients worked perfectly together to make an awesome dish! I fell in love with this food and will return again for sure!

A friend of mine recommended to give Malinee a try and WOW......was I ever impressed. I went there this mid afternoon for a Take Out order and ordered a number of items. My wife and I had it for early dinner and the food was ever so delicious. Melanie was such a pleasure and bubbly individual with lots of smiles accompanied with her extremely warm welcome. I would absolutely return for many more delicious food to try on going forward. She will certainly be my Go-To favorite Thai Restaurant from now on and I will continue to support local businesses that strive to do the best in their endeavors. Tried here for the first time the other night food was good. The Tom Yum soup lacked some more lime otherwise this is the go to spot for Thai in Ajax. I would like to see more improvement with flavors.

Authentic Thai restaurant. This used to be in Oshawa and we would drive there to get her food. The owner cooks it herself. Now they moved to Ajax! Lucky us. This place is really good, you won t regret it. The curries are specially awesome.

We came as a family for dinner on a weeknight and the food was amazing, the service even better. The Thai iced tea, as my son says is Phenomenal ! Best Thai in the Durham Region.

Got a Red curry with beef and requested to add shrimp to it as well. Had to pay $5 extra for the shrimp and the dish came with a total of 3 shrimps in it. These were not even Jumbo shrimp. I know there is high inflation but $5 for 3 shrimps felt like a slight ripoff. Will say that the food was good.

I am hugely disappointed with our 1st experience at Malinees. The online comments about the food, the taste and experience were overwhelmingly positive. Based on these comments, we decided to try Malinees for dinner. The positives: the waiter appeared to be new, but he was trying really hard to make sure we had everything we needed. So service was excellent, no complaints. The restaurant is clean, its small and after about a dozen patrons can feel loud. But its not unpleasant. I dont see anyone eating in and staying longer than necessary. The negative: Only one, but its the primary reason for going to a restaurant. The food was bland, the protein was just boiled meat, without flavor. And it had a really weird overwhelming odd taste. At first I commented that it tasted like plastic, and I earnestly wondered if something plastic had mistakenly been cooked in the dish, but eventually I realized it was some seasoning or sauce. Regardless, the Coconut chicken soup was bland, but better than the green curry chicken which was weak, bland, and without flavor. The chicken in it was tasteless. We mixed both the soup and green curry to try to have some flavour, it helped slightly but overall it was a waste of effort. Who doesnt like sweet and sour chicken? My kids! My kids eat sweet and sour regularly, they had a few bites and then just stuck to the fried rice, which was the only thing they liked. We brought the food home, and its still sitting in the fridge. Nobody wants it. I feel terrible for having to write a negative review like this. I really wish the food had been better. For Thai food, I feel there are better options available in Ajax/Pickering and normally I would stick to one of them. But again the reviews were so glowing about the food at Malinees, we just had to try. It feels like we went to a whole different restaurant. I even double checked the sign once outside to confirm we did indeed come to Malinees. I dont like leaving stinging reviews, the restaurant owners work hard and I feel empathy for their efforts, but I also dont like to leave positive reviews of food that was frankly not very good. Could this be an off night for Malinees? Absolutely! And I can only hope future patrons have a better food experience than we did.

Malinees is a very welcome addition to Ajax! I hadnt tried their food when located in Oshawa but I can understand why people drive to Ajax now to get this food. We got Chicken Pad Thai, Cashew Chicken, Tom Yum Shrimp soup and Spring Rolls. Everything tasted great and was well prepared. I especially liked the flavours of the Pad Thai. Special mention to the ginger sauce for the rice. It was very good! Ill definitely be going back to work my way through the menu sampling everything.

Pretty good chicken pad Thai with a solid portion size for the price. The peanut sauce on the side definitely enhanced the flavour but the rice noodles were way too soft for me personally.

I ordered our go to first try at a new Thai place meals, coconut soup & red curry chicken for me and Tom Yum soup and green curry chicken for hubby. This was, hands down, the best Thai food, full of flavour, tasty goodness that we ve had in a long time. Such a worst experience. Yesterday I ordered for Tom yum soup and fried rice. Instead of Tom yum the lady in the shop gave me Tom ka coconut soup. It was utter waste and tastes awful. I called many times yesterday to tell. No one picked up the call. Today when I called and asked her she behaved so rudely and no proper response and she abruptly cut the call. She started saying Tom yum had coconut but menu says no coconut. Waste of $40 spending here. Taste was really bad and pungent smell. Please don t buy here anymore. I still have bill and pic of the food. I don t want to post that.

I ordered shrimp pad thai today and the food was delicious and mouth watering. Icalled to see if they deliver as I was at work hungry and dont have a car today this sweet woman drove and brought me the food at work for free. I wish there was a star higher than 5 star

i got chicken/shrimp pad thai and sweet and sour chicken- this was my first experience here but i heard amazing things- the second i called i heard the best most welcoming womens voice on the other end. i instantly knew i made the right call, but HOLY. THIS IS THE BEST THAI FOOD I HAVE EVER HAD. SO AUTHENTIC. you get so much food too??? like the bang to buck ratio is insanely high! i can taste the love. i am so coming back. Friendly staff, and delicious pad thai. This place is tucked away in a plaza, very hard to see, but I wish i had known about it sooner!

It is the best Thai food restaurant I have tried so far in Durham Region. The food was authentic. It reminds me of the food I had back in Thailand. The prices are reasonable, and a lot of parking spots available in a front of the store. The owner is so sweet and friendly, she deserves more than 5 stars for her customer service. My wife and I have traveled around the world and we have tried Thai food alone in the entire GTA and not one restaurant can come close in comparison to the absolutely delicious food coming out of your establishment. Like most people, the high ratings brought me here. I love Thai food so Ive tried several Thai restaurants in the GTA so I was really excited about trying this place BUT this place is terrible!! I had to do a double take and check the address to make sure I was at the right restaurant. When we walked in I couldnt help but notice how dirty the place is. There is a dirty blanket covering the view into the kitchen and my very 1st thought when I seen that was to leave but I wanted to give it a chance. I am really confused about the 5 star reviews? Perhaps, this lady is burnt out or had a bad day and explains why she did not produce quality dishes for us. My family and I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt but the food, the service and the cleanliness was all horrible! We were also the only people in there so she didnt have to rush to make our food? The tom yum soup we ordered was lacking in taste. The massaman curry potatoes were hard because they werent cooked and the curry sauce had this gross aftertaste. The coconut rice was mushy. The chicken fried dumplings were ok. The only thing we actually enjoyed was the mango salad. The lady Malinee treated us nice at first but once we were ready to pay she was super rude. Not to mention, our utensils were dirty and the hand towel in the womens bathroom was so dirty it was brown. It made me lose my appetite. I really wanted to love this place but unfortunately, I wouldnt return or recommend it. TRUST your gut instinct. It is never wrong - I just wish I wouldve listened to mine.

One of the worse Thai food we have ever had in Canada.

An amazing restaurant and an even more amazing owner. Shes so sweet and her food is so tasty. I could barely eat my meal because my kids were picking off my plate the whole time because they loved it so much. Ive been going here for 7 years, and its consistently great.

Food is fine so I can be fair but my experience today was unacceptable. Upon entry into the restaurant, I was immediately accosted by a staff member. She accused me of getting food and not paying for it, apparently this happened earlier in the day. She said a girl who looked like me with a kid didn t pay- so essentially I m every black woman who enters this restaurant. I haven t had food from this restaurant since 2019 and it was extremely uncomfortable to be treated this way as someone who just walked in with my debit card to pay for my order that was placed 15 minutes prior by phone. I paid for my food and left. Based on this experience, I will never return.

Good Thai food. Place is very simple. More for takeout. But the food is very authentic filled with flavours and the owner is super nice . We got to sit and dine in and enjoyed the food, flavours and chatting with the owner. If you are looking for a place with ambience this might not be the one, but if you are looking for authentic flavours and good Thai food this is truly a good find. For vegetarians like us who don t want fish sauce or oyster sauce in their food, Malinee was able to make vegetarian curry truly vegetarian. Will be using this place definitely again:)

Ive been to Thailand several times, so I know what to expect in Thai food and the 2 dishes we ordered were probably the best Thai food Ive ever had.. . Canada or Thailand. Tasty, fresh, authentic. We ordered the red curry pineapple with beef, and the mango chicken. Wow, both were AMAZING. The cleanliness of dining area could use some improvement, but the quality and taste of the food compelled me to rate Malinees a solid 5 stars.

Decent food, but inappropriate owner. At first we thought she was just friendly, but then it was too much. There were no other customers in the store and she basically sat down with us while we ate and talked about her boyfriend, cheating, bodily functions, you name it. Best pad thai in Durham Region!!!! My husband is a huge fan of pad thai and we have eaten at a number of different places in Ajax-Oshawa. This is by far the tastiest around. Huge portions. SO GOOD. The peanut sauce is made in house and they always provide extra for takeout. Its so fragrant and sweet. Unreal. The owner is the most delightful lady. You can really taste the love she puts into all of the dishes. Reasonably priced too. PLUS she gave us a free cup of her homemade iced tea with our order. It was amazing. We will definitely be ordering more of that next time. Its got this great lemony tea flavor that is indescribable. We love Malinees!!!!

My daughter suggested this place as she had ordered from them before and it being my last night visiting her that is what we did. My mango chicken was full of equal generous helpings of chicken, mango, green pepper and onions. The sauce, which spice level you can decide brought all the delicious flavors together for a mouthwatering experience. It had true homemade qualityand not just your typical take out taste. I am not normally a lover of Thai food but I have fallen in love with it. If you are in the Oshawa region you must give Malinees a try. You wont be disappointed.

The ONLY thai place we will be ordering from. The portions are huge, the pad thai was deliciois (with extra peanut sauce and peanuts to go), AND we got free dessert because we ordered so close to end of day. The service was great and we will be exclusively ordering from Malinees here on out!

So I was ordering for my family and some people about 8 people in total so I order what I wanted and it came around to 100 it was pretty pricey but I didnt mind thinking the food was going to be great I get home and try it and it was disappointing my guests didnt like it nor did we. In the end we were left with a ton of food we dont know what to do with.

Best Authentic Thai food in Oshawa, I have been working my way through the menu and have loved absolutely everything so far!

Small restaurant but the owner is extremely friendly and an excellent cook (with a cool sense of humor). Food was just fantastic. While we were there we met people who travel from an hour away on a regular basis for the food. Had the Pad Thai, a few curries, and the mango sticky rice dessert. That last was surprisingly tasty. Would definitely go again.

Malinees Cashew Chicken dish is amazing. The texture of the fresh vegetables mixed with the sauce and spices makes this mild chicken dish a family favourite. Order two, youll thank me while enjoying leftovers tomorrow! Our second family favourite is Malinees Mussaman Curry Chicken. This dish must be made with peanut butter, coconut milk and a variety of delicious spices. These two dishes are our staples!

Amazing thai food! The restuarant is operated by an amusing lady who provides excellent service to all the guests. I visited the restaurant with a few of my colleagues and we had a great time. I had the glass noodles with beef, pepper and baby corn immersed in a sweet and spicy sauce which felt perfectly balanced. Everyone liked the food they experienced and the atmosphere was great. Overall a gem of a experience in Oshawa. (also the meats are halal!)

This place is so GOOD! I came here for takeout for my mother and I, and ordered 2 chicken pad Thai meals; one spicy, one not. We were both extremely impressed by the quality of food and how much of it we got for the price. We will be for sure returning here in the near future! This place is always very cozy with books you can read, and the owner is very friendly. Service was very fast and the food is fresh. Thank you!

Every time I have called (4-5 times over the past 3 years) they never answer!! It is always closed even when it says open

Picked up some takeout. Asked for no onions. It was made with onions and the chicken satay was inedible. It is all gristle and fat. Called from my house to ask for a credit. She said yes I forgot, what do you expect me to do? And hung up on me. She didnt answer her phone for the rest of the night. I now have to order something else from somewhere else. Also tiny portions and low quality ingredients. Even if it was right I would never return.

I love coming to Malinee s, the food is great and the experience is always personalized. Malinee is always cheerful and always generous. I personally enjoy the red chicken curry with pineapple. If she isn t in the front, you can always hear her with one moment please! And then greet you with a big smile. The store is small but homey.

Wow. What service and food! She even made everything without fish oil so that we could eat vegan. We are definitely going back.

Love Malinees! Have visited a few times now. Always get the mango salad (if you can handle spicy food ask her to make it spicy and shell add some chilis, or you can add some shrimps to it). The pad thai is excellent and today I had the beef with peppers and omg it was delicious, has a nice sauce that mixes great with the rice! I highly recommend for anyone who likes thai food, and Malinee is super friendly and will make sure to take great care of you! Everything here is 10/10

Amazing food, great quantity, fresh taste at reasonable prices

We were in the area for a concert and felt like Thai. Found this restaurant on Google as was close to where we were going. The actual restaurant is very simple, but the food...OMG...SOooooo good!!!! One lady and she cooked it all right there. So fresh. The best Mango salad I have ever had. Authentic too. She is very particular about cooking authentic thai. I would seriously drive from Hamilton to Oshawa to eat here. Thank you for a wonderful meal Malinee. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

This place is absolutely the best place for Thai food in Oshawa/Whitby. I went with a friend, and Malinee came out and chatted with us about our food and made us feel so welcome. Just recently, I went for my birthday dinner, and she makes you feel like family. Her food is amazing, and her hospitality is superb. I cannot wait to take my friends here when they come to visit Oshawa! She is phenomenal and this kind of experience is a treat. I will always be a regular customer! (I recommend the pad thai and green curry :))

Wonderful Thai cuisine, probably the best Ive ever had. The restaurant is just a tiny little spot in the corner of a plaza, but it makes up for its size with a friendly and inviting atmosphere. The lovely woman who served use made the evening even more pleasant with her suggestions and cheerful attitude. I had the chicken basil stir fry and it couldnt be better. I hope everyone tries it at least once.

The most amazing and great quality thai food you will have. Malinee is amazing and will even adjust the dishes to whatever you want. I always ask her to surprise me with spice level and she has not gotten me bad yet. I have tried almost every dish except for seafood. Veggies are always fresh and crispy. She is very friendly and loves to chat with her customers.

Had a phenomenal first experience today for lunch. The service was attentive and Malinee was a joy to talk to. The food tasted incredible and I cant wait to go back and try more of the menu! For the quality of food and portion sizes, it could cost twice as much and I would be satisfied. Cant recommend it highly enough!

My husband and I decided to check out this place and WOW the food was amazing!! We had some Thai rolls, which were delicious and the cashew chicken and the mango chicken and it was divine!! We will definitely will be back! The owner and her husband are an awesome team! Totally unexpected and 1000% deliciousness!!

Wow! I just ate here for the 1st. time and was thoroughly impressed! Melanee greeted me with a big smile and was very friendly. I ordered the cashew chicken after some deliberation because everything looked amazing on the menu. She suggested medium spice which was excellent. I cant wait to come back and try more. Went again a week later. Malinee remembered me and my order and pleasantly asked if I wanted it again and if it was spicy enough for my liking. Though tempted, I tried moved on and tried the red curry chicken. Another winner! Love this place.

Unreal Tom yum soup!!!!! Best I ve ever had !!!!

The first time I tried this place I wouldve given it a 5 star as the customer service was very pleasant and food was decent when eating in. I went back last night for take out and when I went to pay, the price was $7 more than advertised on the website menu... I got such small portions... the pad thai was 90% DRY noodles that were all stuck together... and bit into a piece of plastic/glass which shattered in my mouth. Dont know if ill be back.

My husband and I took my mother to this restaurant for lunch and we were not disappointed. I dont know whether to rave about the food or the host herself. The food was amazing, just the right amount of spice and just mouth watering! We got the pad sew eew with shrimp and the red curry with chicken. The shrimp was so flavorful and juicy. The curry was so delicious and perfect with the sticky rice. We asked Malinee if she served Thai iced tea and she said only by request and made us a special order and the drinks were not only delicious but so pretty. We had the opportunity to have a one on one with Malinee since the restaurant was empty when we went and had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know her which only amplified our dining experience. We would definitely go back and would highly recommend it!

This is one of my favourite Thai cuisine restaurants in Canada which makes delicious Thai food at an affordable rate. What also makes this place awesome is its owner, Mrs Malini herself, who is a very nice lady!

Amazing food snd and nice lady! Shes very passionate about her food. She is running this place on her own so those who complained have no clue how hard she works!! Also those who complained just dont want to pay for their food. It is an authentic Thai food. Dont expect some Canadian washed spices! This is how it taste!!!! Shes amazing and truly awesome food!!!

Ordered the pad thai, red curry with pineapple, spring rolls and fried dumplings. Drool drool... this is why we drive an hour to get here. Absolutely delicious! Highly recommended!!

Hours of business posted on the website are incorrect and the restaurant actually closes at 7pm on Saturday despite the site advertising business hours until 8pm. Nonetheless, arriving at 6:20pm we found the front door locked despite the restaurant being full of patrons. There were no staff in the restaurant so the customers had to motion with sign language that the staff had locked the door.

Best Thai food in Durham!

I wanted some authentic Thai food and was most delighted to have found this little cozy restaurant that had just that. The awesome owner/chef runs the whole place on her own! Hats off to her!! Food is nice but she never answers so I cant pre order....otherwise she may have gotten 4 stars....those little fried dumplings with chicken breast is addictive and I like most of the dishes except for that Massaman curry.
