Been here twice now - love it! Recommend the breaded clams Prices are great, portions are fantastic, clean, lots of seating, and a variety of options on the menu. Food : 5/5

Take out. Halibut batter was heavy. Give it a 3 out of 5. Fries were dry and unsalted. Paid $57 after tip. Okay meal, but was not impressed for price.

Worst fish and chips ever! Chips were dry, so was the fish. We spent over $50 . The salad was small . The halibut pieces were tiny flat and dry. This place is terrible. Will never go back!!!

The restaurant was very clean and well taken care of; service was very good and friendly. Food was nothing to be desired for. I ordered the deep fried dill pickles for an ap and gave one to my friend to try and told her to be careful as they are very hot. She cut it in half, tested it with her finger and said it was just warm; that should have been a clue to what we were going to get. All the pickles I have ever gotten at other restaurants were extremely hot from the fryer, these were luke warm. We ordered halibut and have never had a piece of fish that was literally sitting inside a pouch of batter; never seen anything like it. The batter was not even attached to the fish, my friend figured their fryers were not hot enough (hence the pickles) and it was disgusting. Poutine was not bad as gravy was tasty, but my friend had just the fries and could not eat them because of the taste of the oil left on the fries. Mushy peas werent bad. I would not go back to this restaurant for fish again.

We ordered 2 halibut with fries and 2 pops 48.00 . The fries were so stale dried out. The fish was also stale with raw batter inside . Two bitws and we both threw it out . It also came with no coleslaw. Last time for us.

I really liked the fish it was made incredibly, but the fries tasted old and not crispy. there is allot of potential here i would say the fish is one of the best i have had but more love needs to be given to other parts of the menu. i would go back esp if they change the recipe for the fries.

We ordered halibut and COD, with only 1 dollar difference, it is recommended to order the COD. The COD is really good comparing to halibut. The poutine is streaming hot and the cheese can be melted smoothly, onion ring is a little bit too thin but still better than most fast food restaurants. Only downside is there are some guys peeking into our car in the parking, you need to keep an eye out on your car in here.

Food at Halibut House is always the best. Had the Sunday special Halibut with fries and coleslaw. Enjoyed the fried mushrooms appetizer a lot.

To be honest I have gone to three different locations. After first visit and prices i decided that I would definitely never go back, every time i go its a repeating thing.This one multiple times Keep in mind that I go because of the company I keep. Is the food terrible. No. Are the prices good. Meh. Would I ever go back. No. Is it worth going there for fish and chips. If you enjoy halibut. I would look for something else if driving.

Very pricey for deep fried fish. Tasted good. But the price makes you hope for more

First time eating here. Place was not busy for dine in. Made me a little concerned as to why. But: after we sat down we saw a steady stream of guests ordering takeout and the phone was busy. We all ordered fish and chips. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Food came quickly, ample portions and overall a very good experience. The only negative point from me is I had haddock and chips. There was more batter than I like with my fish, but others had the halibut and the batter seemed right for the size of the fish filet. Prices were fair. We will eat there again.

Halibut fish was very greasy and extremely fishy tasting is one of 2 things. Old fish or not halibut. Batter is not lightly battered but thick and hard on out side and uncooked on inside. Fries like Fish were greasy and tasted like old grease. Lot of money paid for poor food quality. Thought first time there was just a bad night but second times clearly tells you not to go back.

Our fish was delicious. But we also ordered garlic bread which was a hot dog bun with garlic butter and it was horribly burnt.

We had the Halibut, the more expensive fish, and at $19.99 it should have been quality. It was not. My friend had the deep fried halibut and chips, and it was just- ok tasting. Small piece of fish, small amount of fries, coleslaw didnt look good, but was ok. I had the grilled halibut, it was a thin slice, overcooked, resulting in a chewy texture. The Greek salad was fine. Difficult to ruin that. Service was good, but then there was no one else in the restaurant. No surpise as quality of food is poor.

While visiting from NOVA SCOTIA, we had some amazing fish and chips! Prices are reasonable. This cook can come to the East Coast and will not be without a job for very long! Thank you!

Ordered fries for take out. I have had fries from the Orangeville franchise and they were definitely fresh cut / homemade. Theses Alliston fries tasted okay but not fresh cut and not worth $6. No pieces had any potato skins on them. And I noticed them looking like they were frozen in the fryer basket before she put them in oil. If I want fresh cut fries I will go to Swiss Chalet or the Chip Store up the street by Home Hardware. I hate when franchises do this. The Orangeville Swiss Chalet old owners (not present ones) did same thing...frozen fries not fresh cut.

Occasionally this restaurant has coupons in the local paper that my husband and I use for a buy one get one free grand slam breakfast. Excellent food.

** update visited Monday and ordered the Lunch special. Everything was fantastic, perfect portion for Lunch, super fresh and hot. Fries were super crisp and fresh! Staff was amazing and restaurant was very clean. Great improvement with the new owners. Would go back again. Clean atmosphere and friendly staff, fish was good and not over breaded. My fries were soggy needed to be crispier. Had Sunday lunch special 7$ Very good value. Saw breakfast menu looked good so may give that a try on next visit.

Visited Halibut House for the first time today.My husband went in to order cod and fries and haddock and fries.I could tell before the packages were even opened the frying oil was old and needed replacing.The cod without the batter was good the haddock not so good the fries and batter were absolutely inedible.The mushy peas were excellent.will never go there again.The gentleman behind the counter was very polite. Frying oil needs to be replaced regularly no trying to cut corners. I grew up in the biggest fishing port the UK.I know good fish &chips.

my wife likes fish n chips , me not so much, so I ordered a burger from here, bar none one of the best burgers I have ever had. Fish n chips were good too according to my wife.

Ordered haddock and chips with gravy for takeout tonight. Unfortunately, the fish was over battered and overcooked. The chips were fine but the gravy was watered down and flavourless so I wont be returning Im afraid.

I use to love this place but ever since the new asian owners took over it has gone down hill. The food is extremely greasy and fishy. The fries smell and taste like greasy fish, the fish was horribly greasy and fishy tasting in a very bad way and to top it off go in to order 50 dollars worth of food and they refused to give me more the 6 tiny packs of tartar sauce unless i paid extra. They will no longer be getting mine or my familys business.

Pretty good halibut and chips

I was very excited to try this place as fish and chips is a family favorite and usually fantastic. BIG disappointment here. First off, the man that greeted us Tom, who claimed he was the Manager was very abrupt and frankly rude. He pointed us to a take a seat at a table. Once we sat down we noticed that the table was not properly cleaned and still had food particles from the last visitor on it. We proceeded to order and when the food arrived, all though we were all very hungry, we were all disappointed. The fish was over cooked, almost burnt and the fries were obviously cooked much, much earlier. The food was NOT fresh. Tomatos in the salad were starting to turn and the lettuce was limp. It seems as though nothing was right. It is no wonder there were only two other people in the large restaurant. As we were paying Tom before we left, I tried to give him some feedback to which he instantly got defensive. He became very offended and lashed out at us telling us we dont have to come back! No problem Tom, we wont.

My husband and I have been going for a long time. Very good food. I will say the coleslaw is not good. Very bland. But there fish and breakfast is amazing . The staff are very good and friendly.

Server was nice. Food is terrible. Stole chips of moms plate. Chips taste like cardboard. Grilled halibut was tuff and flavorless. Rice was okay. I recommend. Go somewhere else.

Fast food with the classic fish and chips selection. The food is ok but it is really heavy! The fish was nice but still moist with the cooking oil. The fries where seriously heavy and greasy. Prices are ok and the service very nice.

Im sure the food could be decent but well never know. They wouldnt take an order over the phone for pick up..which is all we can do now. She said you have to come in to order. In this environment emphasizing social distancing, you would think a place like this would allow for phone orders? Not worth the risk. Not sure I will ever go in once restaurants seating comes back.

Just tried Halibut House in Alliston, ON for the first time. Had fish, shrimp, scallops, chips and onion rings. All were delicious, especially the shrimp! Will definitely be back

First take out order since Covid 19 started. We were really looking forward to fish and chips, with a side of coleslaw and mushy peas. Worst meal we ever had. The fish had no taste, and batter was doughy. The mushy peas was a tub of water and the coleslaw had no dressing. Worst $85.00 we ever spent.

Missing those workers , first if all, but our breackasts are so wished to come back! Great dishes.

I ve been here twice. Once when it opened, and more recently on a Wednesday. The Halibut and the Cod are delicious, the fries are golden, and the coleslaw is also nice and creamy. I mentioned Wednesday bc they have a mid-week special and it was only $9 for the cod that usually costs about $13. Great deal, nice folks, and good environment. Gone fishin !
