Dining out has to have value these days. Their gourmet house coffee was good, not great, just good note: NO REFILLS. My lunch was $13.95 our 4 coffees were $17. Who knew, our server failed to mention it was $4.25 per cup. Maybe we should have asked, in fairness however generally coffee is bottomless. Maybe it was written somewhere, but the menu is huge. Maybe the server should have advised before pouring, but she did not. We could have enjoyed 8 coffees, not 4, that means something to a senior on a fixed income. Told our server it was only our second visit to Symposium Café, now we know there will not be a third. I left very sad.

Took 2 hours to get food and get the bill. Terribly under staffed. I will not be returning!

Today our family went there for dinner and this was our first and last time there . we ordered cheese pizza for my son and they give us frozen cold cheese pizza which was stale and saggy. And we also ordered beyond meat burger that was also staled . the food was really cold . We regret going there and spending money. Not recommended at all.

On August 22,2024 I called made reservations for 3 at Symposium Cafe in Alliston Ontario for 6:30. The person on the phone asked if it was a special occasion, I said yes it was my cousin s birthday. When we arrived the person who greeted us seated us . We placed the appetizer order of plain chicken wings with sauce in the side. When we got the order the wings were very dry. These wings were refried and even with the sauce it didn t help. We didn t send it back due to stories of restaurants spitting in your food etc. As we re waiting for our pasta we noticed that the waitress and greeter were paying a lot of attention to the table next to us. My husband, cousin and I also ordered pasta with seafood in a rose sauce. When got our pasta the rose sauce had lots of oregano which killed the taste of the sauce we had little seafood , scallops were overcooked. We decided not to have dessert and asked for the bill. The waitress brought the bill and I said don t give to my cousin since we brought here for her birthday. Then the waitress brings a brownie with a candle. Now, I made the reservation and they asked me if it was a special occasion. If I didn t mention it was cousin s birthday she wouldn t have gotten the brownie. Great restaurant, we have always meant to go to the one in Barrie but instead we stopped in at this one and were not disappointed. The food was good , dessert selection was amazing too. Prices are probably just slightly over average but minimally. The waiter we had was great and he gave us recommendations for desserts on what he liked and we were happy we did, the neopolitan cheesecake was the best ever .

Took my 94 year old mother to Symposium in Alliston. We have been there before but it s been awhile since we were there. While my wife was helping my mother out of the car I went in and ask the manager to do me a favour and pretend that he remembered her and to welcome her back. I gave him her name and when we walked him both him and our waitress welcomed my mom back by name. She was dumbfounded and filled with joy that they remembered her. At the end of lunch they gave her a free brownie dessert. She couldn t believe it and it made me so happy to see a simple gesture by the restaurant make her feel so good. Thank you to the manager and staff for making an old woman feel she has not been forgotten.

Always great service but our server Diane aka Di was extraordinary! So attentive knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the new menu, which is amazing! Very vegetarian and pescaterian friendly. We ve eaten before and been pleased but last nights dinner was very disappointing. The chicken teriyaki rice bowl was very small, tasty, but small. I was encouraged not to add a salad because the bowl would be quite large. The sundae was suitable for a young child but priced for an adult. I m not a big eater and so portion sizes are typically not and issue but I left hungry. We hesitate to return.

Avocado on toast was meh. Tasted like a premixed guacamole and that is never good.

We hired Sid and his team to host our wedding reception for 20 people. In the months leading up to our wedding, Sid met with us several times, and was easy to contact at anytime via email, usually replying within a few hours! Sid and his team took allergies of our guest as a high priority, and went above and beyond to ensure that each guest had an amazing experience! Sid and his team went above and beyond in so many ways, offering to decorate our area, put out place cards, provide drink tickets I had requested to use, play music if we wanted to match our wedding, etc. More than I ever expected a restaurant to do for my dinner party. All of my guests left the dinner extremely full, noting how amazing that appetizers were and what a great touch it was, as well as the size of their portions for their main meal (Symposium made 20 different fresh meals), and the cake! The waiters and waitresses were extremely attentive, being extremely respectful to even our youngest guests; who everyone knows are impatient at best! We are excited to have spent our first date at Symposium and have went full circle to celebrate our wedding there as well! We will definitely be back, and recommending Sid and his team for any event or dinner night out!

We were part of a wedding reception at Symposium and we were blown away! The food was incredible, huge helpings! The service was above and beyond. A party of 10 was mostly satisfied with the food and service. However avoid the marinara mussels, they are a very small portion in a bland sauce

My family and I decided to eat here for Father s Day, we were excited as we have been meaning to try it for a while now. Now the only reason I give 4 star is because they had a miss communication and we didn t get served for quite some time and had actually went to leave. We mentioned it to the manager as we walked out of the restaurant, and when we got to our car they came out and insisted they make it right, which they did and made it a very good experience for us! The food and service from then on was great. It was clean, very nice atmosphere, the food was delicious and staff seemed very friendly. We will definitely be back to try more stuff on the menu! Me and my mom came for dinner to symposuim for dinner and was instantly greeted by a lovely lady named Donna. She ended up being our server and her service was absolutely amazing. We took our daughter to the Symposium on May 3 to celebrate her birthday. Our party of 4 were treated like Royalty, the food was delicious and varied, they even accomodated my need for low salt. Our first time going here & it was a restaurant we will seek out again, because its apparently a chain restaurant. The service was great! The happy hour Appies was fun to choose from, as well as the very LARGE dessert menu!!! But I think we were most taken by the huge variety of menu items!!! It was really hard to choose!!! Symposium is always our restaurant of choice, if we go out for lunch or dinner. Rob was our waiter today, and was as friendly and efficient as always. The food was wonderful as well! Came here for dinner tonight. Love the ambience here, its very cozy and comfortable. We ordered the steak bowl and fish and chips. The steak bowl was good but i wasnt a fan of the sauce, it was a bit too sweet. My dates fish and chips was amazing , piping hot and great flavour. Rob , the manager was very welcoming, friendly and provided great service. When we didnt like the vanilla milkshake we ordered at the end of our meal, he immediately offered to make a new one for us and it was perfect. Hes a gem. Would definitely return!

Symposium has a broad choice of menu items, so something to suit most anyone. The atmosphere is pleasant, with not too much ambient noise, at least at lunch time. Service has always been goid.

Our group of 30 people - adults and kids, came here for breakfast as part of our year end hockey team celebration. Hi there! Me and my family came over for dinner on a rainy day, but since the moment we walked in we were greeted with a huge smile by Diane we cannot stress enough how fantastic, wonderful and friendly she is. Her customer service skills are top notch, and you can tell she enjoys what she does. From presenting the specials, the menu, paying attention to our order, she got it all. And to top it up, my wife asked for a latte, and when she brought it to the table, she did a quick presentation about how she prepared it and the difference layers in it. She completely made our night with her kindness and friendliness. Diane deserves to be commended!

Nice restaurant with good food and good service. I gave 4 stars on the food as my wifes chicken for her Chicken and Waffles was not seasoned well and was kind of dry. However, the server gave us a 50% discount on her dish without us needing to ask. On the service side, I gave it 4 stars as our server placed the strawberry for mimosa on the glass using his hands, even after handling other things. Not great food handling practices. Having said that, our experience was generally good, and the servers were pleasant and helpful, and I think well return to try other dishes.

this restaurant is the worst place i ve ever eaten at. i waited over two hours for my food and they got it wrong, the service is so despicable, the food had hairs in it and it was dry. The burger was borderline raw i asked for cheddar and i didn t riecive very dissatisfied.I WILL NEVER BE COMING BACK AGAIN

absolutely disgusting food under cooked, Bland and mushy. Took 1/2 hours to come servers were nice but took forever it just absolutely embarrassing at such a known restaurant that bad quality i fell like it is not my moneys worth. Pricing is also very high 27? for some fish and chips that weren t that crispy on the bottom just very disappointing and wasteful!!!! NEVER COMING AGAIN!!

My husband and I went for dinner on New Year s Eve. What an amazing atmosphere, Sophisticated and yet very relaxed and comfortable. Our waitress Olena, was amazing. Very attentive, always smiling, and overall very pleasant. Thank you Olena for starting our New Year s Eve on such a positive experience! My husband had steak and I had the vegetarian pad. Thai. Menu looks amazing, unfortunately food was a disappointment. Eggs we re over cook, English muffins were burnt on half and food was cold. For $100 breakfast that consisted of 3 dishes and 3 drinks, this place if far overpriced. Try Sunset Grill, as it s right next door.

My wife, son and I were returning from a visit to Earl Rowe Provincial Park. It was close to 9 pm and we didn t know where else to go and found this place in Alliston. It was the best decision ever. Food, ambience and drinks were really good and will not dwell on that. But the stars for the visit were Donna who was waiting our table and the owner Sid. Donna was so warm and caring that she won our toddler over so much so he called her the best girl ever. She instantly understood our food preferences but more importantly us as people. We were returning home and had a 45 min drive down south and for the entire duration my son and wife kept talking about the fabulous experience. Sid turned out to be someone who had a similar history but his gesture at the end of dinner won us over. I don t say this easily but this place won our hearts. We will be back again just to meet these two wonderful human beings. Donna, Sid - thank you! You are real stars and precious!

Was here for dinner with my family and can t say enough good things about it. The menu is large, with options for even the pickiest eater (I have 2). The food was very good, and portions were ample. We actually had to take two to-go boxes. The restaurant decor is beautiful without being over the top. There are decorative trees and a glass display case for the dessert options. (Try the carrot cake) Donna was our server and she was absolutely fantastic. She took our call asking if we needed reservations, to which she said no but took down our name just in case. She then recognized us, I guess by my voice, when we came in and was attentive, engaging and humorous while serving us that night. She definitely was a big part of the overall experience. It was the perfect place to go prior to our movie at Imagine cinema across the street.

Was there today with my family and my 4year old wanted the cheese pizza. She did not like it and my daughter loves pizza. So I asked our server, which was an older blonde lady with really long fake lashes if we can get an order of chicken nuggets instead because my daughter didnt like the pizza. She told me that my daughter was a princess and that we spoil her. I was like excuse me! She didnt like your pizza, just get us chicken nuggets. My husband was like, maybe its a language barrier because she had an accent. I dont care where youre from when you call someones daughter a princess and that shes spoiled....Im sure 100% thats international. My husband was basically trying to find a way that I dont tell her where to go, took everything in me to not throw the pizza at her face. Not impressed with this ladys customer service skills, Ive been there many times and that was my first time with this rude server.

Had breakfast at Symposium in Alliston with my wife and her 2 sisters with their husbands. Very nice restaurant with a great atmosphere. Ali was helping us with our breakfast orders, and she was very good and attentive. I warned her that when the 3 sisters get together, they tend to stay and talk for a few hours. Ali said to stay as long as we wanted to. Thats great customer service. I ended up having the neapolitan cheesecake for dessert, which was just fantastic. Its definitely a place to go to when in the area.

Service was impeccable. Sim - our server, was professional, polite, alerted us of the specials, and extra tid bits not on the menu. He checked our table, offered to fill our drinks when they were empty, and just generally took great care of us. My girlfriend and I ordered apps, drinks, mains and dessert, so our price point of $40-$50 per person was because we ordered the whole shebang. This is our favorite restaurant in Alliston! We come here all the time and we re always extremely pleased with the food, atmosphere and service. Vegetarian options: Lots!

This was by far the best restaurant in Alliston we have been to! Not only was the food delicious, our server Donna was amazing! Would love to have her as our server every time. For our first time coming to this restaurant, we will definitely make this our regular date night hangout!

Our sweet server, Donna, was fabulous! Moved us to a quieter location as a hockey team arrived next to our booth. Very attentive & fabulous food as always! Butter chicken & fish & chips are delicious. Will return for certain!

Our server Donna was so attentive to our needs. We had dinner with our little one and she was not only kind but very mindful of our needs. Meals out with a little one can be challenging, but when you have servers like Donna it definitely helps to make the experience a lot better. Thank you for a great meal. Went to the Symposium for the first time with the family, and we had a great evening. The food was delicious, both boys finished all their food, which is rare. And our server Rob was kind with the kids and provided excellent service. We will be back.

We visited Symposium as a group of 30+ following a hockey tournament (with a last minute booking). We had 2 kids in our group with food allergies. Sid, the manager, was very accomodating and had the kitchen specially prepare gluten free chicken burgers and fries for them! The serving staff was very friendly, service was quick and the food was delicious! Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

I had steak sandwich w/greek salad; my husband and his cousin had Cobb salad... everyone agreed the food & service was excellent. The restaurant was clean and they didnt rush us out. I would suggest they recover the seating in the banquette we sat in as the leatherette was peeling. Not the best atmosphere. Still had a great visit and would go back. :)

We held our baby s baptism here back in September and had such a wonderful experience! The food, atmosphere and service were amazing. The staff was super friendly and on top of everything without missing a beat, they set up the restaurant with our own personal decorations just as we asked and created a menu specifically catered to our guests. Our servers Donna and Dianne were fantastic, extremely professional and went the extra mile to make our little ones day special!

To be honest, I was disappointed with the food. I ordered chicken and waffles. The portion size was great, but the chicken was not a fresh piece of chicken battered in-house. It was frozen and deep fried. Unfortunately, even then, it was overcooked, and it resulted in very dry chicken. I also ordered a Corona on tap, it unfortunately tasted skunky. The service was great and the restaurant was clean. However, I will not go back.

Came because of the happy hour specials shown online. Disappointing that they were not available. But our server was very good, I think Singh. Food and service good Food

Went for my birthday, food was great but service was the worst service I have ever had. Booked a reservation for 3 for 5:45. When we arrived we were seated at a table with menus, then the waitress came back 5 mins later and told us we had to move to a booth that became available because they had other people waiting for a table! Which that never should have happened. After placing our order, waitress never came back once to check on us or ask if we would like drink refills! It was a different guy that brought out the appetizer and the meals! Then we finished our meals and sat for a good 25 mins waiting for a response from our waitress! She finally spotted us and came to get plates! Was going to get dessert as well but really got turned off because of the poor service, so we just asked for the bill! Then as we were walking out, our waitress gave us dirty looks!!!!

Exceptional service and the food was very good. I was in with my Wife and kids to meet some good friends for dinner. There was something on the menu for everyone, we had no complaints about any of the meals and our server was a delightful lady who made us feel right at home even when our son dumped ketchup all over the floor! The prices where reasonable and the value was excellent. We would definitely come back!

We went on a Thursday, and they have a great date night special. Food was delicious with very generous portions. Service was lovely, we were there till closing and never felt rushed at all. We will definitely go again, highly recommend. Food
