Great place with amazing homemade pasta and sauces. We came here on a recommendation and were not disappointed. The best dinner we've had so far in Alma. I did come for the smoked salmon, but they were out of smoked salmon filets. Fortunately, the chef was able to substitute the hot smoked salmon filet in the smoked salmon alfredo for the cold smoked salmon used for appetizers. It was great (but I do love salmon so call me biased)! They put the smoked salmon on top (so it didn't heat up too much and kept the temperature contrast). I've never seen this on a menu, but it is a fantastic combo. The strawberry lemonade was good, would definitely have appreciated a larger glass. The pasta portion was perfect for me, it is larger than the photos suggest (if you're hungry, the salad and bread is a good add-on). Notes: - The restaurant is closed from 4-5 (lunch ends at 4, dinner starts at 5). - They are out of several menu items off their usual menu, make sure to call ahead if there's something specific you are looking for. - fyi the pasta comes out a little softer than all dente (it's fresh pasta, not dried). Likewise, the alfredo has a bit of that fine butter layer on top (almost splitting, good sign that's it's recently made). Recommended: strawberry lemonade, cold smoked salmon alfredo
I had a great dinner there and I came back for breakfast. The dinner was amazing. Both the mussels and duck leg were flavourful. I like they use fresh local ingredients. The eggs benny breakfast was ok. I wish they have more greens than a lonely piece of pea shoot. The potatoes are flavourful and not greasy at all. Service at dinner was good. My server didn’t necessarily check on me but she definitely was paying attention as my plates were cleared shortly after I finished each dish. I enjoyed eating my dinner in peace. The service at breakfast was a little slow as they were busy but I still got my food in a reasonable amount of time. The only downside is I got attacked by many mosquitoes when I was there the first night even though I was sitting inside! Bring bug spray and you’ll have an enjoyable time.
Wow, compliments to the cook, wonderful food, the lamb, the duck and everything on the plate was perfect. They also make the pasta themselves, so yummy. We will come again for sure 👏🏼🫶🏼👍🏼💯
Great spot to have dinner in Alma! We loved the homemade dishes and presentation. The chef even accommodated a special request. Would highly recommend sitting out on the patio for a sunset dinner if you can. We really enjoyed our chicken Parmesean and scallop appetizer.
Amazing food! The place looks simple and the balcony is absolutely beautiful in summer. Dishes in the menu are different from other restaurants in Alma. We had lobster pasta and Cod as main course, and mussels as appetizer. Main dishes were like fine dining. Cod cod perfectly and mashed potato underneath it the best mashed potato (It is not usually my fav option). Service was a bit a slow as it was busy on Friday night.
We’ve eaten at octopus garden cafe a few times and it’s always delicious. They make fresh pasta and it’s glorious. The fish is also quite fresh and tasty ! They could improve their wine selection by the glass.
Didn’t know what to expect! What a delightful surprise. The menu is great and it delivers. The seafood is outstanding. Seared cod heaven, red thai seafood curry and the scallops pasta, as good as it gets.
Excellent food, charming porch atmosphere, and good service! Unfortunately the day we were there they were busy & needed more help! Once we received our meal from the kitchen staff we were hooked. Beautifully plated, green beans cooked to perfection and the fish was outstanding!
I was not able to take photos of the food as I was really famished. I don t really like tomato soup but this restaurant serves the best tomato soup I ve ever had in my life! It s really one of a kind and taste really fresh. We had lunch so I also had their southern chicken salad that was so good and the portion was a really good size. My husband did enjoy his lobster roll!! We can t wait to be back and order the fresh pasta. Love love the food but the service can be slow Been visiting this since the first time we ate here. The food really is superb! Their fresh pasta is even better than the famous Italian restaurant in Saint John! I can only say good things about the food!!! But yes service can be slow and the servers are not that friendly. Either way, I d be back just cause of the food!!! You don t really find good food here in NB
We visited Octopus Garden twice a day. First for a Cappuccino, which was excellent. And a second time for dinner. They made fresh pasta with herbes from the balcony and the wine selection is great. The number of guests end of September in a Restaurant in New Brunswick speaks for itself.
It may not be under the sea, but if youre hungry after exploring around the Bay of Fundy, this Octopuss Garden is where youd like to be! Great food, awesome dog friendly patio, and fantastic drinks!
Vegetarian options: Sehr gute vegetarische Frühstücks-Bowl Food
Far and away the best restaurant in Alma. Skip the others in town. Fabulous food, a beautiful patio, good service. It was our go to restaurant while we were staying in Alma for several days visiting Fundy National Park. Im from Chicago, and wish it wasnt so far away.
Had an amazing lunch with friends and our dog, on the patio. The spicy Koren ramen bowl was everything, the Italian trio sandwich was huge, lobster roll has huge pieces of meat, the cod sandwich had perfectly balanced flavors, and soup of the day was made fresh for our party. Our server gave us all the right recommendations and was a treat to talk to. 10/10 would recommend!
Dog friendly patio beside a little brooke, above and beyond service. Everything is made in house except the breads which are from a bakery near alma. This is a must try stop! Cod sandwich is smaller but absolutely delicious and a must order. The fresh soup was tomato bisque and I had to fight others off to finish the bowl. Excellent little cocktail list and coffee choices. Just perfect. Charming inside and out, food choices for all, and thoughtful of our allergy havers even!
So nice and so good, healthy and delicious, thank you!
I had the Amatriciana Pasta with a salad and baguette. The fresh pasta was really good, especially with fresh cracked black pepper from a comically large pepper mill
Had a wonderful late breakfast on the patio with our dog. The food was good, I really appreciated the thick cut bacon. The staff was friendly and it made for a great experience.
Good Coffee. I wish you had a large size option for dripping coffee.
Terrible experience, came in for lunch, seated for 20 minutes and no one came by, 2 tables were seated after us and were served. We ended up walking out of the restaurant as we were completely ignored, servers walked past us to the tables beside us (who came in after us)
Spent some time in the area and enjoyed one breakfast and a couple dinner here. Bacon and ham were breakfast highlights. For dinners, all the home-made pastas were excellent, and so was the duck. Definitely a great spot for dinner. Kid-friendliness: Kids loved the food and drinks
The food was amazing the coffee is excellent the staff are sweethearts , whats the best , sweetest , and welcoming places that I visited in Alma New Brunswick
Slow service, mediocre overpriced food
Really enjoyed our meal ! Our server was very helpful .
There were four of us dining together. The server was very friendly, but not very attentive after we ordered. After about 30 min she stopped at our table to let us know our meals should be out shortly. After another 10 to 15 min we inquired with another server who told us they were being plated. After another 10 to 15 minutes our server came to refill our water and we questioned whether we were getting our order. It took over an hour for our meals to come out. There was a group of 3 people who came in directly in front of us and were in and out of the restaurant within 45-50 min while it took over an hour to just get ours meals brought out. The server was apologetic and did check the order and admitted we waited over an hour for 4 meals and inquired twice (no salad, no appetizers were ordered). I will say the meals were beautifully presented and tasty. The price on our bill was adjusted, however the wait was extremely disappointing (especially because the restaurant basically emptied around us) yet our food took forever to come out.
An absolute gem of a place. The food is top quality. The menu is not large but has an amazing variety to choose from. We are here a few time over our stay at Fundy National park. Every meal was cooked perfectly and the staff were friendly and efficient. We were there when they were slow and when they were slammed. The staff were just as friendly every time and the food was perfect every time. Very worth checking out even if it just for a great coffee and lemon square.
Lovely atmosphere, the decor is fabulous! My son fell in love with the cute kind waitress with the blue hair! My daughter was happy with all the art paper she was given before our meal! The 3 of us played Pictionary and it was delightful as the waitress reminded my daughter to sign her multiple art pieces. The food was delicious our new favorite restaurant!
Hidden gem
A relaxed atmosphere. Tasty and healthy meals. Vegetarian options. The terrace near the small stream contributes to the charm of the place. It was our go to in Alma. Friendly service. Vegetarian options: There are vegetarian options. Dietary restrictions: They take allergies into account but cannot guarantee that there has been no cross-contamination in the kitchen.
The food (pasta) is fresh and great but far too expensive. The service was quick and attentive. Sadly typical tip rip-off starting at 15% selection (not 10%). With food this pricey as in most Alma eateries its not for the average person and definitely not for a family.
Lovely place to eat, food is fresh and delicious. The coffee is great too!
Great dinner! Fresh and tasty ingredients. We ordered the trout and scallop pasta.
The food was not terrible, but not nearly worth the price. The menu seems very cash grab orientated. 24$ for for a ¼ pound of lobster makes no sense. At least the staff were friendly
Great food, good service, awesome dessert. We tried the lobster pasta, chicken Alfredo, and chicken Parm. They were all great. Priced a bit high for what it is, but still good food. Service could have been better and not much to say about the atmosphere. The carrot cake we had is definitely the star of the show.
Waited for 15 minutes and did not receive any service. Walked out and no one noticed.
Stopped in for lunch and waited 15 minutes after a menu was dropped for someone to take our order. Hada waitress just walk by out table as if we didnt exist. We left. Dont recommend at all.
Good food and wonderful people. Located in Alma NB. Drop by and try them.
Some of the BEST pasta I ve ever had. The classic tomato sauce was out of this world. Server was lovely. EAT HERE!
is a beautiful place.. the food is absolutely excellent.. the service and boss are super friendly! The price-performance ratio is also right! Plus its dog-friendly and well be happy to come back Food
Magnificent terrace on the edge of the river. Homemade pasta worthy of a true Italian nonna. We really liked it!
Loved it here. Great pastas, nice outdoor patio, wonderful service. Also stopped by in the mornings for proper espresso. Kid-friendliness: Good kids menu. And the desserts (chocolate cake) are amazing.
Cute spot good coffee.
Best seafood chowder I have ever had!! Also had the lobster sandwich. Plenty of lobster!! Service was excellent. Friendly and knowledgeable.
The patio overlooking the small creek is a vibe. The lobster roll + kombucha was a great way to enjoy a Saturday afternoon.
Tried to eat here tonight. Was seated at 5pm. Ordered drinks and our food by 5.15. No one came back to our table to give an update on the service times in the kitchen or to advise us there was a problem. When we had sat there for an hour and a half we flag down the waitress and ask for an update. She then advised us there was a back log in the kitchen and they hadnt even started our order. No offer for bread. Or an apology. Instead we were met with a poor attitude and a face of contempt. We asked for the bill for our drinks as we were leaving.. we then even had to wait a further time for this to happen. And again was met with no apology. Ive eaten here before which Is why I came back...after this experience of horrific communication and extremely poor attitude of staff. I would not be coming back....
We spent the week in Alma and ate here a lot. Everything was delicious and we appreciate the dog friendly deck. Thank you for a great week!
Took 45 minutes for food to arrive and staff did not seem apologetic what so ever although Korean ramen was delicious
Iced Americano Was Decent. Got It To Go, But The Space Looked Quaint & Lovely.
Being a former accommodation owner, I understand the value of both good and bad reviews. i tend not to give out too many bad; I get how hard it is to operate a business. But I dont easily give out great. This place is great. Period. Were just completing a Canadian East Coast vacation. Other places we went to are Charlottetown, Quebec City, Grand Falls NB, Montreal and Ottawa. We had our best meal, not just in Alma, but in all of the other places named above, at this Cafe in a tiny little town in NB. The Octopus Garden. 100% recommend it. The chef/owner is wasting his talents here. Maybe this is by choice.
Great menu and food. Use of local products is great.
I had scallop pasta which was excellent!!! If I didnt live so far away, I would happily come back!
I was very impressed with the food! Great food I could not find anything to complain about!
The most expensive pasta you will eat in your life. Small portion and nothing exceptional. And they have the audacity to charge you for a single slice of bread.
Went there when I visited Alma and it was the best pasta Ive ever ate. It is calm, cozy and the staff is very kind.
Very expensive for very small portion. I do not recommend to go there.
When we went they were not serving breakfast that day but they had a good selection of baked goods and drinks you could get. All pastries and bars were delicious especially the chocotine and the mermaid bait. Able to enjoy them in the outdoor seating at the back of the restaurant there is a brooke running right behind and lots of flowers and herbs planted really nice atmosphere
OMG! What a fantastic meal! I had amatriciana pasta and hubby had cod. We ve been traveling for 3 weeks and this was easily one of our best meals. Will be stopping by in AM for coffee and wonderful looking blueberry muffins.
Asked if we could have drinks on the patio. They said no problem and sat us at a table just to change their minds a few minutes later and ask us to leave. Super awkward and disappointing.
The food was ok (overcooked salmon but otherwise not too bad) but the service was terrible. They forgot to bring us things twice. The server never came back to refill our water. We had to ask her and it took at least 10 min before she came back with the pitcher. Would not recommend.
I went this morning as a take out on my way out of town for a latte and pastry. I got their vanilla latte, chocolate croissant and I ended up getting their egg breakfast sandwich to go. Everything was delicious! What was even better was the service and energy in there- the two girls working at the front were so kind and friendly. I was in there for less than 10 minutes and loved the vibes in there.
I have got to say, I travel ALOT and alot of places dont care about giving a proper restaurant experience. I did not catch the womans name who served us but was working on May 30 for lunch time. What a complete sweetheart. I had a burger and it has got to be one of the best Ive ever had. My friend had the lobster roll and spicy ramen. We have absolutely NO complaints. I advice anyone traveling Fundy to stop here and try their restaurant. You will Not be upset. Great price and amazing quality of employees and food. The lady working on this day deserves recognition for her work. MUST CHECK OUT!! Kid-friendliness: No kid menu. But they have burgers and sandwiches that the kids would love.
Best breakfast I have had from a restaurant in a LONG time. Beautiful patio (dog friendly) overlooking a small waterfall, extremely friendly staff, and once again, amazing hand-made food (pastries, fresh pasta, locally sourced seafood, etc.) I had the ultimate breakfast sandwich with an Americano, and my partner had the salmon eggs benny with some drip coffee. 10/7, would ravage those breakfasts again. Had to take some fresh homemade desserts to go (lemon squares are my weakness) with an Iced Fundy Fog, made with tea from a local company. (Yes there are dairy-free options for those using the search function right now). All 10/10, of course. Even found a nice hand-fired piece of pottery to add to the gallery wall of souvenirs at home. My only regret is not being able to eat dinner here (look at that lamb shank and that carbonara in the other pictures... jeebus). Maybe we will make a slight detour on the way back from the roadtrip.
Terrible service that was not helpful when dealing with allergy issues. Do not come here with dietary restrictions. Dietary restrictions: Put something in the dish that was NOT on the menu. Refused to make me another dish when I explained I could not have something due to a dietary restriction. She said that I should just take it off and when I told server I couldn t she said I had to take a bite to see if I could taste the food aka my allergy.
great place for lunch.
I love the spicy ramen! We go to the Octopus Garden every year to kick off the summer season!
Not good service
This place is an absolute gem, the food is amazing, the staff are so friendly and accommodating. It immediately became a full-on road trip destination with my pals and we genuinely try to make it back there at least once a year. Highly recommend! Dietary restrictions: They also have seamless gluten free options
Lovely place, best ramen and lobster sanwich.
They are getting better along the years. Food is amazing with fair prices, good to go when I want some different on my weekend. Parking: 8 parking spots Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair friendly
Alma has some of the sweetest little stops, friendly folks and beautiful place
For someone whos been around a lot, the mussels are by far the best one Ive ever tasted in my life. Shout out to the chef also who makes his own pasta. The overall experience was great. We will come back
Great sea food! The giant Thai sea food is amazing! Great service and local atmosphere
We stopped here for lunch. The red thai curry soup was delicious as was the tomato soup! Fantastic service and great recommendations! Desserts were awesome! Be sure to order one even if you have to take it home!
Excellent food and service!
The food and drinks were delicious! However, there were a few things that soured our visit somewhat. The restaurant was understaffed resulting in a very busy waitress, no refills of water or coffee, and longer wait times. A table that was seated after us were served firsts and finally our meals were served in chipped bowls. Despite all this I plan to return...the food and atmosphere are great.
We spent 2 mornings in a row at this place. Just lovely. We are traveling and stopped by for coffee, croissants which were excellent and to do our email. Pleasant enjoyable place to hang out and the food is excellent. Highly recommended.
Very good food! Lobster pasta recommended! Also very nice vibe and friendly people! Best restaurant in town!
The food was fantastic and one of the only gluten free options I trust in the area. Their pasta is fantastic although its on the expensive side and the portions arent very big. Overall, I think I prefer their lunch menu (as their sandwiches etc are fantastic and are also mostly gluten free). But you honestly cant go wrong no matter when you go there. And the place is absolutely adorable. If I had one gripe, it would be the limited parking although that is to be expected in a town this size. Overall, I look forward to going back next time we are in the area
Great dinner at the Octopus Garden Cafe, all the staff were very pleasing and helpful with recommendations as well ! The desserts freshly baked/made are a big bonus as well, even if you are not a dessert fan those are a must ! (Carrot cake especially :)) Thank you! Food : 5/5
It was raining so we came to eat a hot meal. It was delicious, with local products. Everything is good, dont hesitate.
The food was excellent and well presented. Our family had pasta dishes, which were a great choice. We sat on the patio, which provided a serene setting for our meal. The service was friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Love the foods!
Great service, great food, great atmosphere. Highly recommend!
We dined at The Octopus s Garden while visiting Alma a couple of weeks ago. We just chanced upon it. I ordered a pasta special. I m used to boiling prepackaged pasta. Their pasta was homemade and it was so much nicer! The meat sauce was perfectly seasoned and delicious. It was just a special meal when we didn t expect it! Their baked goods are also excellent!
Have been here twice. The first time we were spoken to rudely and decided to leave within minutes. Both times my group was not greeted when we came in, and we weren t told to seat ourselves or wait to be seated. There was also no sign saying what to do. We waited for 15 minutes to get to the counter to ask if we can sit down. The employee proceeded to tell us no that we can t seat ourselves and then complained about previous customers that did that. Yet there was no greeting to begin with so to assume to seat yourself is understandable. It was really an unfriendly and unwelcoming atmosphere. The food was fine and our waitress was kind after dealing with the first employee. Overall will not go back.
Beautiful little cafe Delicious vegan options which had been hard to find while travelling Gluten free baked goods as well Nice work from local artisans displayed throughout Vegetarian options: Delicious!
Had the breakfast sandwich which was tasty though a bit messy, which was fine, and really nice herbed potatoes on the side. Nice back patio too and friendly people.
Kid-friendliness: They love kids. Wheelchair accessibility: Has a ramp. Food : 4/5 |
Food was delicious. We had romen, salad, and latte
Do not, I repeat, do not drive through Alma without stopping in here for an iced latte and mermaid bait. Don t know what that is? Go find out
Excellent, excellent, excellent. What we got was amazing : The Ramen, the vegan bowl and the lemon square. We recommend it 100% and we come back in our next vacation
Great healthy food. One of the 2 places in the town that serve good coffee.
Small place with a good atmosphere Good food Thank you to Kim for the good service! Food : 5/5
Great experience! People are very nice ans the food la delicious. Thanks to Kim for the excellent service! I highly recommend.
Our server Kim was amazing. The pasta did our trips to Italy proud :) we loved the food, the service was exceptional and the ambiance delightful. Special thanks to Kim :) Added bonus that we could bring our fur babies. Parking: Lots
Stopped for breakfast, they have a small menu, but the food was good.
Had the worst eggs Benedict. The sauce was tasteless, the ham was a deli slice. What the heck is up with that and it was ridiculously expensive. Wouldnt recommend this place at all. Despite the assumption made by the restaurant that I wouldnt know Good Tasting Eggs Benedict sauce I have had plenty of from Scratch Eggs Benedict and can tell you yours was tasteless. As for telling me that I only paid $15.00 well we must have been charged the special rate because we paid over $20 per serving. Because it was a Sunday brunch price. I stick by my review and I would suggest instead of making assumptions that my husband and I dont know what were talking about try listening and maybe improving your restaurant.
Shannon is a rare gem
Mango smoothie: delicious. Vegan burrito bowl: excellent and very fresh. Vegan chocolate espresso pudding: very tasty. Super nice server and comfortable outdoor seating. Vegetarian options: At lunchtime there was a vegan burrito bowl and a smoothie Dietary restrictions: At lunchtime there was a vegan burrito bowl and a smoothie
Best food and coffee in Alma and surrounding area!
The best meal of our 6 day motorbike tour. You absolutely must make a stop there if you are traveling in this region.
Warm atmosphere and very beautiful terrace.
Would be a 1 star review but the saving grace was their friendly staff and her charm, we ordered 3 sandwiches which took 45 minutes to recieve, and the grilled cheese was burnt. The portion size to price ratio was horrible. And the coffee well i may as well have warm water. The general cleanliness of the place wasnt that great, flies buzzing all around and just random clutter on the floor. In short its not an experience I wish to repeat.
We skipped the so called included breakfast at the Hopewell Rocks area motel we stayed at because the food for dinner was a big letdown. It was a great decision as breakfast was amazing at the Octopuss Garden. Eggs Benedict was excellent in both the regular version and with lobster. Rich full bodied coffee was good to the last drop. Take the extra short drive to Alma, you wont be disappointed!
I have been here several times and the food is absolutely the best. Highly recommend!
Lovely, fresh food. Servers were very polite and friendly, but we had to wait a long time for our meal.
Very good experience. We liked.
I usually find seafood places lacking in flavor, but we had a salad and a Korean spicy soup and it was AMAZING. I definitely recommend this place. Service, food, and desserts were top notch.
We had a great experience. Food featured local ingredients and was delicious. Service was excellent.
Tasty meal. I had the grilled Flatbread sandwich and a homemade lemonade. Delicious. Service was fast and friendly.
What a charming little place with friendly service and delicious creative food! Amazing cappuccino! My husband and I stopped in for coffee and dessert on a rainy day. We sat on the covered back patio. It was so enjoyable! We shared a chocolate cake and a pina colada cake. Both were delicious, but the pina colada cake would bring me back! I wish we were in town a bit longer to try more items on the menu. So many look amazing and creative! I wish the Seafood Curry soup came in smaller portions, because it sounds incredible! Perhaps we will get to try it one day when we have larger appetites. I highly recommend this adorable restaurant with such thoughtful preparation and ambiance!
I appreciated being able to get a latte with non dairy milk! I found it a bit pricey for the area, but not exorbitant. I wish they would offer more coffee/latte options. I didnt try any food, but there were a number of appealing options. My husband said the baked goods were excellent.
My wife and I visit Alma every ten years or so. We always comment that there is never any place to eat with fresh foods. Its lobster or fish and chips, and never a leaf of green. Well, thats not true for us any more. The Octopuss Garden Cafe and Bistro has a wonderful menu of fresh seafood, salads, pastas, and other tasty entrees for dinner. We enjoyed our meal so much we went back the next morning for breakfast which was also delicious. The staff were super friendly. The setting is a bit rustic, but still nice. Definitely recommend if youre looking for an alternative to Almas tried and true fares.
I go to Alma quite often. The pastries here cant be beat! Especially the lemon squares.
Just outside Fundy National Park, in Alma is a surprisingly fantastic restaurant. A true Gem, a rare find, can t stop raving about it! They made the most common dish like a tomato soup into something spectacular. The perfect blend and mix of herbs and spices, the right amount of cream and voila, a hearty soulful bowl of goodness. They cater to Vegans and other dietary restrictions too. The Asian noodle bowl was lip smacking dish . We also tried their lemon mint ice tea and the vegan burrito bowl. Both equally delicious. The depth in flavours and the intricate balance in taste shows the chef is a true master in his/ her craft. They know food and flavours very well, it s truly a delight to eat here. A great place to stop by if I m the Fundy National park area.
Always a wonderful culinary experience. Great coffee and nice beer selection.
I went there today. I ordered a steak and salad. I asked specifically what the salad was and was told it was a house salad. When it arrived it was obviously bagged grocery store salad and my steak was shredded on top of it and then a 2 thick layer of what I assumed is a dairy based ceaser or similar dressing just dumped on top. It was absolutely disgusting and I sent it back after one bite. They still made me pay 50% of the cost. Are you kidding me? Just do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. The food they brought my daughter was dog food which I wouldnt even feed to my dog. I cant even give the place a zero star rating because the system doesnt allow it.
Delicious scallop po boy and scallop salad! And the Fundy Fog latte and lemon square is a perfect way to end the meal!
Lobster Risotto!! Excellent. Pasta too! Wheelchair accessibility: Aussenrampe zur Eingangstür
Good food and friendly staff.
Went there for breakfast today, the staff made me feel unwelcome, what a weird experience.
Excellent food! They were able to accommodate my husband and I with our vegan diet. The burrito bowl and pasta were both delicious! Great local beer on tap! Cute back patio with a beautiful river. Food : 5/5
After a bit of a tough hike at Fundy NP I ordered a grilled cheese (add bacon) and the soup of the day, which was an amazing tomato basil soup. We ate lunch on the patio and the whole experience was amazing. This really topped off the trip to Fundy, and the service was very quick and so nice. I absolutely recommend this spot to anyone for lunch. I also had an americano (black) and it was smooth and delicious.
As a vegan, I was so happy to find a restaurant with a vegan option in the area! They have 1 vegan option on their lunch menu - the vegan burrito bowl, which comes with rice, sweet potatoes, corn, black beans, avocado, and greens in a delicious cilantro-lime dressing. It is very fresh, wholesome, filling, and tasty. The only downside is that theres only one vegan option. I do hope to see a few more vegan options in the future though. Their wines and cocktails are reasonably priced but there isnt a huge selection. From the sunny patio you can hear the calming sound of a brook. Service is timely. Great location just minutes away from Fundy National Park - stop here for lunch before a hike!
Food was great, service was excellent, loved it.
Very good menus...high recommended
Just Delicious!! We came in late , about 30min before closure and we were so lucky that we were still able to get something for Dinner. The best lobster pasta I ever had -honestly. My partner had chicken Alfredo pasta as well as a side homemade Salad and was also very satisfied! This restaurant in Alma is a real diamond and worth to stop by and grab some fresh and delicious food!
Cozy, people are nice and friendly.
If you are anywhere near the Octopus Garden you HAVE to stop and enjoy all of the delicious foods, made fresh each day (including fresh pastas), great coffee and teas, yummy desserts and gluten and dairy free goodies and entrees!!!
Super friendly and attentive staff. Food very good and excellent price quality.
Best place to eat in Alma! Scallops and Cod cooked to perfection. Homemade pasta absolutely wonderful. Chicken marsala with buttery mashed potatoes so good. Highly recommended. Dietary restrictions: Very accommodating
Everything is great here.
We enjoyed a lovely meal that we devoured!! Still talking about our hamburger and fish burger the next day. The baked goods we picked were delectable, we received a generous portion of chocolate cake. Staff was super friendly
Very fun place with really good food.
Very tasty seafood
They charge the price of an establishment with great atmosphere, service and food. But has less atmosphere than a Burger King. The individual wait staff are ok, but major issues with a dish were met with a discount not really corrected. We found the meals very over priced. This establishment could only exist in a place like this, it could never survive competition of any kind. They also choose to take advantage of the current Alma boil order by charging 2 dollars for a 25 cent off brand bottle of water.
Food and service consistently good. Disappointed that it was closed on Monday
Came for brunch then circled back for a lovely supper!
I liked everything about this place. The owner is wonderful and friendly, the lobster sandwich was incredible, and I cant fathom being remotely close to this town without coming back to this spot. Really great.
Was amazing
An amazing meal with great service. Love this restaurant.
We are on vacation in the Maritime and were recommended to try this place. We had a $29 lobster sandwich that came in a basic 1/2 baguette that tasted stale and it had some lobster coated in mayo (with next to no seasoning and it came with a very small salad). We also had a scallop boy for $20 that came with a handful of kettle chips. Given the prices for these items we were looking forward to some gourmet sandwiches that were going to taste incredible and fresh. We ve enjoyed a lot of great food during this trip; but this place by far had the worst food. The lobster sandwich was less than basic. The scallop boy was okay. Basic sandwiches for premium prices. Maybe it gets better during peak travel season but the food here was an epic fail. Regretted eating here. Also, they don t serve any octopus here. Not sure how they get away with the prices they charge. There are plenty of options next door to this place to have fresh delicious seafood.
Very good lobster rolls
Fresh fresh fresh food
High quality food and treats.
Deliciously ...not expensive and fast ... excellent service
everything on the menu is fantastic ! worth every penny
Really great meal and friendly service.
Nice service, nice food, nice place!
This is the place to get breakfast in Alma. The food was beyond wonderful and the people are super kind. I wish this restaurant was in my home town.
Not sure the reason behind this fine restaurants name but we did enjoy our experience within (both my wife and I). Enjoyed our individual meals and will most definitely be back. It was too cool for sitting on their outside patio but look forward to enjoying that area come warmer weather and time away from our home location. We both enjoyed looking at the many pieces of artwork masterfully placed upon the restaurant walls and counters. It was also nice seeing their prices posted so that the price of buying one of the artwork pieces was not a mystery. We enjoyed conversing with our wonderful waitress. It was a pleasure realizing she lives within the restaurants location and enjoys where she lives and works. The little town of Alma, N.B. is a true Canadian treasure.
Definitely have a seat on the Patio, great ambiance.. Fresh and Tasty
Best place for breakfast in Alma. The ultimate breakfast sandwich and egg sandwiches were fresh and delicious, as were their baked goods (croissant especially). Great coffee and tea selection with soy and almond milk substitutions available. Has a nice patio and free wifi too. All the staff were extremely friendly.
We enjoyed the salad, pasta, bread and service! The friendly service and delicious pasta will bring us back! Thank you
Octopus garden is amazing!!! The food is incredible and the service is very friendly and attentive. By far the best homemade pasta I have ever had. I ordered the lobster pasta (it must have had a whole lobster in it) and my husband had the spicy pasta (perfect amount of spice), both were phenomenal. Our meals came with fresh salads and bread, the portions were perfect. We re visiting from Ottawa and consider ourselves to be foodies , hard to impress when it comes to food but WE ARE IMPRESSED. We will 100% be back. Everything was incredible. Thank you Octopus garden!!! See you soon.
Incompetent waiters. The menu is not correct. Small selection of dishes, food not tasty. The prices are very high 200+ for four pastas and 4 beers. No childrens menu
Absolutely fantastic food and staff. The lobster risotto was phenomenal and they had some very tasty local beers on tap. I wish I got to Alma for more visits with my family there as this place is a cant miss
Amazing
Amazing cappuccino, incredible meals (scallops!!!!), freshly made key lime pie, wonderful environment, and to top it- great staff. Shannon was so kind and sweet. We decided to come back for dinner. One of the best restaurants ever!!! This is from a Toronto girl don t forget to get the cappuccino
Really good breakfast sandwich! Lots of specialty coffee choices and they are very delicious
Came here for both breakfast and lunch! Great ambiance out on the deck with the lovely sounds of the running creek. Breakfast and coffee were both delicious! Lunch wasn t as good as breakfast but still pretty good! Friendly staff. Definitely recommend a stop at this place while visiting Alma!
Absolutely delicious breakfast with even better service. Try the scones, too!!
An amazing restaurant! Really great food with an amazing service from Shannon! If on your way, you must go there for a nice lunch!!
Bafflingly bad experience here! We came in around 10:30ish and all the tables appeared to be full and people were waiting to be seated and at the counter for coffee. 3 staff were working at the counter/dining room but no one was even taking to-go coffee orders, so people just kept piling in to wait with no movement. Eventually a couple tables left, but there was no move to clear them and seat new people. After about 20 mins of waiting with no acknowledgement, a staff member came out and asked us and the several other people waiting Are you guys waiting for breakfast? Yeah? They re done. indicating the kitchen crew. I don t think I ve ever had such an oddly dismissive and unpleasant experience at a restaurant :(
We had two delicious meals. Great, fresh food that was special. Very friendly staff. Fresh, homemade desserts. We loved it!
We waited an hour and a 20 minutes after we ordered breakfast and then had to leave without eating. Worst service ever.
Disorganized and poor service. Bad days happen, how you respond is what matters. Lack of action to get food out after waiting for almost hour and a half.
Terrible service. Our family of five arrived for breakfast on a Friday morning and were seated fairly quickly. The server said she would bring coffee right away. Two tables were seated after us, received their drinks and orders taken and another table had their coffees refilled we still didn t have coffee. After about half an hour, we were just about to leave when a different server came to take our orders. Still no coffee. This server was very unfriendly, no smile, no apology or explanation for the wait. She was so curt with us, we actually thought we may have offended her in some way. Eventually our coffee and breakfasts arrived, still no effort to provide friendly customer service. Food was very good, but no offer of a coffee refill, but we eventually were able to get another server s attention. We sat for a bit to wait for the bill, but none came, so I went up to the counter. Three people milling about behind the counter and no acknowledgement that I was waiting for someone at the cash register. Finally someone decided to come to the register, rang up our total and asked for payment. I had to ask to see the bill. We arrived around 10:00 and left around 11:45. I have never given a bad review for a restaurant, but just couldn t give this one a pass. The only reason I m giving two stars instead of one is because the food was good. There are other restaurants in Alma with equally good food and excellent service. Alma Boathouse and Tipsy Tails are two of them.
Great food. But the service was atrocious . We waited 45 minutes to eat. One waitress. She never asked us if we wanted coffee, dessert, whatever. I was embarrassed for our guests who paid for the meal!
We went here for breakfast and dinner while camping in fundy national park. We were super impressed with both meals and especially loved their lattes! Definitely worth the stop if you are in the Alma area.
Very good! Wish I had more time to eat
Nice little cafe. Different paintings by a local artist on the wall decorate the place. Different choices of coffee. Menu a bit minimalist but the food was delicious.
Our favourite breakfast stop in Alma! Good service, cute patio, and delicious food, all at a fair price. Recommend to everyone visiting the area :)
Was so excited to make the trip to this place and it just ended in long wait times and out of everything good pie though.
A fantastic place for small treats and beverages or full meals. The pasta is homemade and flavourful. We ll worth checking out!
Delicious fresh pasta!
The carrot cake was awesome, and they always have gluten free options!
Amazing pasta, Risotto was delicious, and the cod was amazing too!
Lame service - food is mediocre at best. We ordered jerk shrimp, mussels, smoked salmon for appetizer. The salt in jerk shrimp was atrocious and not edible - the jerk sauce felt like it was out of a jar. The muscles were meaty but the sauce again too salty. The smoked salmon was good but for $16 youd expect more than 3 slices, wouldnt you? The Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo deserves full marks and while the duck confit was good the sauce for the beans was again too salty. The Lamb Shank was dry but the taste was decent. The lobster pasta was good but the lobster was cooked for too long so it felt chewy. The puttanesca pasta dish left much to be desired - quite underwhelming. Save yourself the trouble and try Roccos Cucina in Hillsborough.
Wouldn t recommend for people who are gluten intolerant or celiac. *edit My fiancé is gluten intolerant and is getting very sick after eating there.
Had ourselves breakfast and was not at all disappointed. Even spoiled ourselves with desert, so yummy
excellent breakfast! service incroyable! Very good latte.
Lovely little restaurant. The service was fabulous. The food was very nice. The Thai chowder was really good, though we found the portion small. It is $45 for a portion for 4 people. The seafood was cooked perfectly but as four adults we all agreed it was a very small division - very tasty but very small. Probably better for two people to split but then it is quite pricey. The fresh pasta was very nice, the kids had kids pasta and we tried the scallop pasta - very nice. The mussels were good, but by the end we noticed very salty. We loved the cappuccino and biscotti to go. Overall a bit pricey but high quality food.
Coffee was amazing and the espresso brownie was to die for. Friendly service. Highly recommend!
Service and food was terrible. I ordered hamburger and was smelling bad. I got my order after when everyone in my table finished their food.
Went there today on our way to Hopewell. A simple soup and sandwich was sooooo good. And Shannon is, without a doubt, the world s best server! Highly recommend!
This place is wonderful, and has the best veggie burrito bowl Ive ever had! The atmosphere is great and the staff is lovely!
Food was excellent and yummy - service very attentive and friendly. I rate only as 3 stars as the price is extremely high. We paid close to 150$ for a one course meal with wine. So good quality and service is to be expected. Mostly the lobster pasta with only a bit of lobster in it felt overpriced. We had a nice dinner experience.
Plain simple decor that is typical of a small town so expect quaint but the food quality is amazing, they really got some great chefs for presentation and meal quality. Friendly service. Everyone was happy with their meals and great beer on tap! I had seafood red curry soup dish and tasted amazing and generous amount of seafood. I would go back here again.
Waited 1 hr 20 min for meal and it wasn t even entered for the kitchen to see it. Watched as two tables of 8 were seated after we had given our orders to the waitress. Then watched as the first table of 8 received their food, and called the waitress over to ask about our meals and she indicated they were entered as we had given them to her. Then watched as the second table of 8 received their meals and the first we re getting desert. We had been trying to get the waitresses attention for a while and she finally came to the table we asked again about what the hold up was. She disappeared for a couple minutes the returned to let us know that she had not in fact entered the orders and that they could have them ready in about 25 - 30 minutes. We indicated our extreme displeasure and said no thanks. We had initially received a beer and a glass of wine which she requested payment for - no comps for customer sat here. She was IMHO playing to the large tables for tips. A very bad experience.
You must stop at this restaurant if you are visiting Alma. We had the most amazing dinner here. They even let us put our bikes on the patio so we could see them. The staff was friendly and helpful when I was trying to decide which homemade pasta to get. They all looked delicious. The scallop appetizer melted in your mouth. Everything was fresh and did I mention the pasta was homemade They also offer gluten free pasta as well. It may be a little more expensive then other restaurants in town but definitely worth it. Highly recommend
WOW! This place was recommended to us by a clerk at a brewery/coffee shop down the road. Service was 100000/10. Warm, friendly, generous and even gave us the leftover smoothie after we ordered one! Food was amazing. Salad was crisp; fresh tasting and perfectly complemented by a house made dressing. BLT was full of local bacon, lettuce and tomatoes. Everything about this place was amazing!!! I only regret not ordering the thaïe curry seafood chowder. Next time I will bring a buddy to help me eat it.
Great atmosphere, service, desserts.
The best food we have had I trip to maine and New Brunswick. All of our dishes were fresh and flavorful. My wife and had lobster in our dishes and it was fresh and tasty. All four us had dessert and they were all good. The chocolate cake was excellent. Service was friendly and welcoming. It isnt a touristy place and is pretty low key. A very pleasant surprise and a relaxing experience!
Lobster sandwich was incredible! The best we had in our whole trip of the Maritimes. Highly recommend. And came with a huge serving of salad. Worth the price. I was super impressed with our entire Octopuss Garden experience and sitting on the patio in the sun by the creek is so peaceful. Stunning little local joint.
First time dining here for lunch and it was excellent! Great service and the food was delicious! We had the vegan burrito bowl and spicy ramen which were flawless. For dessert we had the lemon square and zucchini chocolate cake which was moist and delicious. So glad we tried it out and we ll definitely be back again! A solid 4.5/5 stars.
Very delicious, fresh pasta made to order, in house. ..but was it worth the wait? It took almost 30 mins to take our orders and another hour+ to get food. They did not seem overly busy. Gluten free pasta options are available with all entrees. Moderately pricy dishes.
The food and beverages are top notch with a focus on seafood, sandwiches, salads and soup. I had the OCG Ramen noodles with lobster, delicately flavoured and served with funky green chop sticks. The blueberry ale was delicious and cold. We took our lemon square and Mermaid Bait to go for dessert since the Cafe was preparing for an Oktoberfest party. Id go back in a heart beat. A hidden gem just beside Fundy National Park. A perfect treat after hiking around Douglas Falls. Vegetarian options: They were on the menu but not vegetarian so I didnt pay alot of attention. Parking: Unpaved and adequate. Kid-friendliness: Ate our on the patio with my puppy. Staff were very accommodating and friendly. Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp available.
This is one of my favourite places to eat in Alma. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is relaxed. In my experience the service has always been great. The prices are definitely reasonable for the quality of the food. In the off and shoulder seasons, check before you go to be sure theyre open as they have different hours I believe during the slower months. Dietary restrictions: I travel with a friend who has lots of dietary restrictions and they have always been super accommodating, finding a dish that she can eat and enjoy! I also believe that they have gluten free options, but Im not 100% sure.
