Alma Lobster Shop in Alma

Beautiful views; scrumptious seafood. We had a feast of mussels, hot-smoked salmon, lobster, shrimp and scallops. Very nice and helpful servers. It s BYO, so stop by the general store up the road.

Food was good but they only had one waiter so he was really stretched with the lunch crowd. Took a while but since we were not in a hurry it was a nice way to get a leisurely lunch.

The one and only problem was the mosquitoes. I saw their sign for fried clams and couldnt resist. They were excellent. They allow you to bring in your own beer which was very cool. We ate till we were stuffed and walked it off strolling through town.

We ordered takeout, but I observed the waitress, she was courteous. Nice place The fish and chips were good but the spicy fries were too salty, I felt like I was eating a salt shaker. The smoked salmon was very good but also a little too salty.

The WORST LOBSTER I have had since I have been eating lobsters for over 50 years. It was rubbery, solid pink not juicy white and very expensive. We had just left the state of Maine and Rhode Island eating delicious, white meat juicy lobsters. What a BIG disappointment we had at this place. Don t go here, run far away.

The service was wonderful. Our server was very personable. The food was very good. It was a little cool since it is outside dining, so take your sweater or coat!

Excellent welcome, nice setting, very good value for money and super friendly staff... if you pass by, stop there to taste good local products and dont hesitate to bring a bottle of wine or your beer (c is permitted).

We had dinner on the veranda of this very nice restaurant next to Alma beach. The lobster was delicious and the fries were also delicious. The service was very fast and very kind, especially the waitress (Brittney I hope I spelled it correctly) who served us was very nice and nice, thank you! The bill was more than fair. They dont serve alcohol because they dont have a license. Highly recommended! Parking: Convenient parking next to the restaurant

Great place , good food!

The food is amazing and tastes caught the same day. The outdoor patio is lovely, it gets a little hot, but if you ask the staff will open the windows for you. My recommendation is the lobster roll, melted in my mouth.

We saw this on our way to Hopewell Rocks. Looked like a cool place, so we returned for lunch. A couple of items were sold out, but otherwise, we had a great lunch by the sea. Our server was very attentive and amiable. Food was good, some dishes were great while some fell short. Food took about 45 mins to arrive. But great view of the sea n outdoor patio.

Lunch on August 31st. I ordered the lazy lobster dinner. The lobster was tough and the roll was all that came with it. My husband ordered the lobster roll and cup of chowder. It was very good, but he thought the lobster roll was on the small side. A table near us had lobster rolls and fries. That looked good. Our server never came back to refill our water.

Decided to drive to Alma to search out some clams. Ordered two orders of fried clams and were so disappointed as the clams were over cooked with hardly any batter on them - just a fried mess! I can honestly say it was the worst plate of clams I have had. Provided the feedback to the waiter. First time eating here and probably my last disappointed.

A little slower now that they ve added so many items to the menu BUT still delicious and worth the wait. Grateful for the new Bathrooms! I wish they served real butter with the lobster, it tastes like the fake movie theatre stuff. Best lobster and I love the clams. Kid-friendliness: As casual as it gets and the kids can play eye-spy over the ocean while you wait.

For an off the path spot, this place a great relaxing and quiet neat place for a snack. Food is great and Lobster roll delicious. A must stop for me when I do a Funday trail run. A must for u 2!

A little too salty roll and a chowder with powdered cream!

We had a delicious dinner. We ate the cream showder, fried clams and fried Bay of Fundy scallops. The scallops were our favorite dish! Small downside, the soup and fries were not hot enough for us. We had great service and what beautiful scenery!

These guys have their own branded boat! The lobster roll was fresh and yummy and their chowder was the best I ve had here so far. Full of protein and flavour. It would be awesome if they could serve beer though. Highly recommended!

I was so excited to go here and this place did not disappoint ... Was a beautiful day. I got the three pound lobster meal with coleslaw and I got the Served warm, which I think was perfect. The service was great. The food was just what you were hoping for coming to alma.Lobster.These guys did a great job so definitely stop in the only thing that would make it better is if he could get a cold beer

An unmitigated 5/5. THIS IS THE PLACE. Admittedly, I haven t eaten anywhere else in town, but aside from the delicious rolls, the truly world class chowder, and the very generously sized child s meals, this restaurant is attached to a family fishery and is the most authentic seafood shack I ve set foot in anywhere in Canada. Truly worth it. Come for the food, stay to pet the lobster and learn about the maritime seafood industry. Amazing.

Ok, I don t usually post on these platforms but I just needed to share my experience with this restaurant. We made a special trip with some family from Ontario to visit Alma and the coast for the day. We decided to eat here. I was extremely excited to order my meal, some yummy lobster, and sweet potato fries. My family all had the pasta. My meal arrived and before I could eat, I unfortunately had a very long hair in my food. Not on top but mixed through. I told my waitress and she just said sorry and offered to get me something else. I m sorry but my appetite is now long gone. It s not her fault at all. My family said the pasta was really good. Just letting you know a hairnet goes a long way these days.

Wanted to love this place more. The food was good (lobster rolls and chowder) but not amazing considering how many people told us to go here. The service was super slow and inattentive. We had to ask for help at every stage (can we please have menus, can you please take our order, can we please order desert, can we please pay now) The setting is perfect. Some other folks had brought their own wine (they don t serve) but we didn t know. Would give it another try with different expectations. Kid-friendliness: Kids menu with the usual suspects. The fries are so so.

This is the place to go to for Lobster when ever you are close to Alma. Everything was amazing from service to food. A 3lbs lobster dinner with your choice of side, bread and choice of flavored butter for $50.

Delicious and fair priced compared to other lobster shops! We had a lobster roll with a cup of chowder and the fish tacos with spicy fries. The portion of the fish tacos did NOT disappoint!!! Beautiful view of the bay of Fundy as well. Can t wait to come back!

We were greeted with a smile even though we arrived a few minutes before closing time. Everything was delicious! We shared fish and chips, the Bay of Fundy shrimp and scallop platter and the seafood chowder. Everything was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend it! Toilets available and plenty of free parking.

Phenomenal food. Wonderful ambience. It was grey and rainy and we could eat while watching out gigantic waves in the ocean.

We loved family of 4 very polite service fast and efficient. Apart from all the places we visited during our road trip, this is the best where we ate for a reasonable price.

My husband remembers this place from his childhood, only thing was that he remembered the smoked salmon being warm, but to his dismay it was cold so not as he remembered it. Still quite tasty though!

Firstly it s right in the beach and for the kids that was a huge highlight! The food was pretty good, not the best lobster on the trip but certainly good enough. The service was wonderful and the atmosphere made up for it all as we watched the tide come in. It was the best mussels i have ever had however!

A bit too much Gordon food services. Miracle Whip in the lobster roll. Generic fries etc. Staff is outstanding. Less lobster in the lobster roll than most others we have had.

Incredible place to taste lobsters of all sizes. We were served by Brittany who offered us the local way of eating lobster and it was great! The place is outside, but sheltered from the wind. They dont sell alcohol, but let us bring our own.

Jillian made us feel at home. Chowder and lobster roll was delicious. Bathrooms were very clean. Lady in the shop was very friendly and helpful.

My partner and I were discourage from choosing our own lobster inside the shop as they now have a pre selected options for dining in. Instead of paying for the medium size lobster we wanted which was $25, we had paid for the pre selected lobster which was $40 instead.

Great lobsters! The fries were really good too. Only the potato salad was really not good and the homemade lemonade was so sweet that you had to add a whole glass of water to it.

We had a disappointing dinner experience after seeing the high rating and the peoples choice award for the lobster rolls. My 11 year old boy thought the Lobster in the poutine was too chewy. My lobster roll and coleslaw was okay, but I wouldnt order them again.. I much preferred the boathouse version of the roll, partially due to the way the bread is prepared and partly due to the size and ratios that make the combination more tasty. My wife was not impressed with either of the things she ordered, though the flavor of the smoked salmon was interesting. My 8 year old boy gave the fish and chips a thumb slightly up. Sadly the best part of the meals were the fries.

Hours are not correct. We went on Wednesday and Thursday. They were closed both days. No hours even posted near the door or in the window.

The restaurant is set on the beautiful, relaxing shores of Alma and offered some incredibly fresh seafood. We especially loved the generous portions of lobster in the lobster poutine! Highly recommend!

after a very good lobster meal we came the next day to pick lobster rolls to the road since we left the arae it was a big dissapointment the rolls were tasty but very very small amount of lobster in them it was overpriced no complaints about the food that was fresh tasty and the service

Great chowder, great atmosphere

Absolutely awesome experience. I have a lot of food sensitivities and staff went above and beyond to check additional ingredients and to custome make a salad so I could have a full meal. I had a lobster which was absolutely amazing. Perfectly juicy and salty. My partner had burger and fries which he absolutely loved. We always make a point to stop here. But this trip was the best! Also the sever was super friendly and checked in on us.

Ordered two ~$25 items, my bill at the end came out to be over $80. I asked if it was right and was told it was. After repeatedly doing the math in my head I realized there was no way what we ordered could come out to that much. I went back to the counter a second time to get it sorted out. The cashier (who was the one to originally serve me) got all upset with me and then told me that there was a $20 charge for the group before me that somehow made it on to my tab. No apologies or remorse, and was acting frustrated because they couldnt figure out how to refund me. It felt to me like they knew I wasnt local, and tried to get more money out of me. I could be wrong but the whole experience was bad and the cashier was rude to me the entire time. Hoping this was a one time mistake and not something that has happened to others

Feeling grateful for out glutenfree meal. The chowder was fantastic, full of delicious seafood bits; the fish and chips were cooked to perfection. Simply delicious. Its a small-ish restaurant. You can only eat in the outdoor seating provided. You order in the lobster shop, where they have a gift shop and where the rack of fresh lobster sits. Then you go and sit down outside. The restaurant closes at 7:30 pm. But you can sit and eat even after 7:30 has passed. They said you can eat out there for hours if youd like. We ordered the lobster roll combo, the fried clams dinner and the special sweet chili shrimps and scallops dinner. With the sides of potato salad, coleslaw and spicy fries that came with our meals. Two of the meal sets came with a dinner roll and some butter. Food tasted good. The portions of the food were a bit on the small side, not enough to make one person full. We shared our food between each other. Total price for everything was about $95 for 3 people. We had our first lobster roll here, and it was pretty good. Was told that they have the best lobster rolls. Parking: Enough parking available.

The food is really not good comparing to other restaurants we tried. The chowder did not taste fresh and it was too salty. I almost cracked my tooth because the lobster rolls had some shell in it.

Great price for a lobster roll and it makes sense as the operators are lobster fishermen as well! Its pretty interesting to take a look Im the cold storage facility where they hibernate lobsters to be able to offer their catch through the summer months. The thing to do here is enjoy the view of the Bay of Fundy in the outdoor or semi-outdoor dining area while you share an order of spicy fries (Id call them nicely seasoned more than spicy, definitely kid-friendly!) and whatever seafood catches your eye. Kid-friendliness: Staff were so sweet and kind to our little guy. Beware the gift shop, which is well stocked with lobster stuffies and must be passed through to reach the order counter. We would have been better off setting up outside and having one adult run in to order!

You could get fresher seafood if you waded out and got it yourself, but only just... Fresh, well cooked and yummy

We had the Lazy Mans lobster dinner (we asked if it was fresh before we ordered and they said yes) and it was not good. We had it heated served with garlic butter and most of it was rubbery, especially tails. Our drinks were not brought to us. Ate as much as we could before one of the staff asked how it was. We were offered a complimentary cheesecake as compensation for a lousy $90 meal!

Wow. We had read reviews here and expected a better experience. This place has such potential but the execution was dismal. Fresh seafood all around but only options (except lobster and crab legs) were fried. How disappointing! I ordered the chicken tenders thinking they were grilled (my mistake) and even ordered an extra portion as I was hungry. They were fried. Sigh. I took my first and only bite. The tenders were not good. Made me think that these are token items on the menu only for kids who wouldn t care that much. My wife s lobster roll came out cold which screams of not being fresh. She asked for it to be warmed and it was but she couldn t finish one bite when she tried it after heating. She said that it now has a strong ammonia taste which again speaks to what happens when the food is not fresh. We got up and left leaving almost all of our food. We went down the street to Tipsy Tails. A far better experience. Folks, save your money. This place is terrible.

My stay at Alma Lobster was great. The Cheeseburger Platter tasted good even for a Lobster Shop. The first time we went there we liked it so much that we d went back for dinner. Waitress was nice, and I loved the atmosphere. The only seats are outside under a rain cover and it is seaside. Really gives you the fish feeling.

Cold lobster served here with no bibs or wipes provided to clean up after the mess. Suggested we buy water when it was freely available in pitchers. We ordered a 2 1/2 pound lobster to share and were given a female loaded with eggs. Left hungry.

My lobster roll and the kids shrimp were good. My wife was hoping for grilled or blackened fish in her fish tacos, but they said, Fried only. Weird, but she ordered them anyway. They come out with a sauce on top with the taste of curry in it. My wife cant stand curry, I give it a taste, definitely curry in the sauce. We tell the waitress, she says the kitchen says there is no curry in it. I know what curry tastes like and so does my wife, the waitress says, Nope, and walks away. I have to switch meals with my wife. Pretty poor customer service. Also, the girl at the counter who took our order didnt seem to know much about the menu and seemed bothered when we asked simple questions. We are not picky people and I almost never give poor reviews, but we spent over $100 for poor customer service and I had to eat a meal I didnt want.

We had our dogs so we sat out on the picnic tables. Cool place...pick your lobster (precooked) they heat it up and give you side choices as well as flavored butters. Then they bring your order out to you! I enjoyed my meal so much I forgot to take a picture! Lol!

This is a quaint shop located next to the Bay of Fundy in Alma. The service was excellent, very friendly and efficient. I had a lobster roll and seafood chowder. The lobster roll was great, a good ratio of mayo to lobster and lobster to bread. The bun was soft and slightly toasted. The seafood chowder was full of seafood but unfortunately it was just lukewarm so I would have enjoyed it more if it was hotter. There was also a blend of seasoning in the chowder that I found a little overpowering as it masked the lovely taste of the seafood in my opinion.

Its a good restaurant on the ocean side. This is a second visit here and we are very happy with this place. The prices are acceptable and the lobsters are really delicious. Parking: Around 10 parking spaces

This shop had a plethora of fresh seafood options ranging from live lobsters to smoked salmon. I tried the lobster salad and it was refreshing with a generous amount of seafood. The fried clams were amazing- the batter was light and melted in your mouth. There were a lot of flies outside but the views of the ocean were very nice.

Everything was great, scallops are big , haddock is super fresh. Lobster looked good (didn t have any) BUT our dinner roll had MOLD ON IT! Was super disappointed and our server was not apologetic at all. We showed her the bun, asked for a new one and she said sure . Would have thought they would have cared more about giving their customers food with mold on it but I guess not. She was polite and attentive otherwise, but was a weird reaction for the situation but I know it s not her fault specifically. Someone in the kitchen is lacking on their quality control.

Important things first, the food was amazing. We had a chowder-lobster roll combo, and it was insanely delicious and for the price of 23, it was also super cheap, especially when you compare it with prices in Maine USA. Place itself looks like a local place and not very touristy which is a bonus point if u ask me . I can definitely recommend this place for all passing byres if u enjoy good local seafood.

They didn t ring in 1/3 of our order. Waited 20 mins after part of our meal came for mussels when they came they smelled so bad , 1/2 them were closed. Had to go ask for plates. Very very disappointing.

Lobster and sides were excellent. A beautiful spot to eat. Very responsive to feedback - we were overcharged for a kids meal but the restaurant reached out to us and fixed the problem in a very timely manner. Worth a stop!

My food was very good but other members that i was with really didnt like their food.

Boyfriend and i went there for dinner he wanted the mussels said they weren t in season which is fine but why is it still on the menu for people to order. he goes to order the chowder and they were still making it so finally he settled for the lobster roll and i got a whole lobster. lobster was already cooked they just had to heat it up. it took them 45 minutes to bring out a lobster and lobster roll. brought it out on one plate so we had to ask for another one so that way we could eat separately. didn t even offer us water my boyfriend had to go hunt someone down to get it for us. won t be returning. only good thing about this place was the view.

Loved this shop! It is half restaurant and half seafood shop. The employees are knowledgeable and on their game, the seafood is fantastic and you can buy it raw or cooked!

Everything i go to new brunswick i make a point to stop here for my seafood top ups and friendly staff. You have to get there smoked salmon...so good.

That Lobster Putine!!! WOW! We stopped by to enjoy a fresh local lobster on our NB trip. Hubby and one of our friends got a beautifully cooked lobster, and I chose a poutine, another friend got a lobster roll. All were truly tasty. Thank you. Food

We came here twice, once for dinner and once for lunch. We tried the lobster roll, bbq burger, chicken burger, and fries. Everything was really good. Sitting outside on the patio was really nice and the food always came out quickly. They were a bit forgetful about bringing out drinks but when we asked they were nice about it.

Advice to the owner: When we were there, there were way too many flies and mosquitoes. Food was very good though!

The food was excellent. I had a gluten free lobster roll, my husband had the lobster poutine, and we shared the gluten free fundy scallops and haddock with fries. Weve eaten at two other restaurants in Alma, NB this week. The food was by far the most delicious, and the lobster was the most reasonably priced at the Alma Lobster Shop.

The cold 1.5 lb lobster was great! So was the hot, but the cold is the way to go. Fresh, large selections and nice staff. It can be buggy sitting outside so be prepared.

For a quiet Monday mid October we never expected to have the best service and food we ve ever had , The cashier who also works serving made our experience one to remember she even wrote on a brochure map and showed my husband and I were to visit while in Alma . The food was by far the best on our coast to coast adventure. The Alma Lobster shop is a stop we ll never forget. Cheers

I had a fantastic dining experience at this seafood shop. They offer a wide variety of delicious seafood options, and my favorites were the crispy shrimps, smoked Salmon salad, and lobster rolls. The onion rolls with the dip and the potato fries were absolutely delightful. The ambience of the place was very inviting, and the chef was incredibly friendly and accommodating. Our kids had a great time enjoying the tasty fries, and the open concept of the dining area added to the overall experience. Its a wonderful place for families to enjoy a variety of delicious seafood dishes in a welcoming atmosphere. I highly recommend this shop for a delightful seafood feast!

Staff is amazing I mean knowledgeable,super friendly and willing to stop and talk. If your going to be in Alma you should know the place to visit first and last both is right here at alma lobster shop. Beautiful very private beach to enjoy as well. Makes the visit to alma unforgettable..

Recently went back and the service was great. The cook followed up with us and was very helpful and friendly. Absolutely perfect and memorable. Beautiful location, people, and the best fishnchips in the world. The front of house shop is cute and the art is gorgeous. Really good service crew. Thanks for another great trip.

Absolutely fantastic lobster roll and smoked salmon. It was definitely worth the drive from Saint John.

Went near the end of October during an evening. Lady at the front was very friendly and allowed me to go out back and check out the large warehouse full of lobsters. Also gave lots of details and fun facts. Ordered a lobster roll, incredibly fresh and delicious. Sunset views eating a lobster roll, truely unforgettable.
