Surrounded by picturesque views of cascading falls infused with historic charm, Ancaster Mill is the ideal setting for Sunday brunch, romantic dinners, or milestone events like weddings and corporate gatherings.
We had our Christmas Lunch at Ancaster Mill and it has become an unforgettable lunch!! A delicious lunch at a beautiful scenic place!!What more to ask for!! The place was well maintained and it gave us a resort kind of feel with the place covered all over by snow!! The food presentation was fantastic enlisting the overall appeal!! Would definitely recommend this place for a party, get together or a romantic date.
The brunch at Ancaster Mill is an experience worth savoring! The cheese and meats selection is top-notch, offering a great start to the meal. However, the real value lies in their impressive seafood options, making it absolutely worth the price for seafood lovers. That said, a separate pricing tier for non-seafood eaters would be a welcome addition. The made-to-order omelettes are perfectly cooked, and the pancakes and waffles are light, fluffy, and versatile – just as delicious with sweet toppings as they are with savory ones. The fruit selection is fresh and abundant, rounding out the meal beautifully. And, of course, the bottomless mimosas are an absolute highlight, adding a touch of indulgence to the experience.
I celebrated my birthday at Ancaster Mill, and it was the perfect spot! 💯The setting was cozy and charming, and the buffet had a fantastic spread. 👍🏻There was a little bit of everything—from fresh salads to hearty mains and decadent desserts. 👍🏻The staff were super friendly and really made the day feel special. It’s a great choice if you’re looking for somewhere memorable to celebrate.
I have been to the Ancaster mill a handful of times including brunch & dinner. The property speaks for itself as every part of it is picture perfect (no wonder people have their wedding pictures taken here! It’s absolutely stunning all year round)! But what really impressed me was the level of hospitality that they provide you with. The moment you step foot onto property, the valet is there to greet you with a big, friendly smile and open the door for you (which made me and my family feel extra special). The hosts, servers, and other staff are all extremely attentive and willing to go above and beyond for their guests. The food is amazing too! I love how they utilize what is in season to provide their guests with the freshest ingredients. I also decided to celebrate my birthday this year and plan a special event at the mill. I chose to rent out the solarium space for my birthday and the planning process was so smooth and easy. Everyone involved truly made it an amazing experience for myself and my guests. The staff went above and beyond and I am so beyond grateful for them! Thank you to the staff and management for making my birthday so special and memorable. I look forward to my next reservation :)
My visit to Ancaster Mill was an unforgettable experience! The place was immaculate, and the restaurant was absolutely my cup of tea. Everything was well-organized, and the staff were active, polite, and presentable. The evening was filled with happiness and fun, making it a truly memorable visit, especially for my first trimester stop. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a delightful dining experience.
The food always tastes better with beautiful scenery and Ancaster Mill is no exception. My family is never a fan of buffet, but this time is really an exception. The only underwhelming element in this meal would be the dessert, it wasn’t bad but not as great as everything else we had. Imagine having a brunch looking at a waterfall on a fine autumn Sunday. It can’t get any better than starting off with a freshly roasted coffee and some fluffy croissant and scones. Followed by a plate of smoked salmon and some crab legs as appetizer, we cheered the day with some mimosa. We had two hours to slowly work down the menu, so I had prime rib until to my content, the beef rib was also amazing as it falls off the bone and the marinade/season is perfect. Wife said the benedict was good as well, and the kids enjoyed the fried salmon steaks… we were full for the rest of the day. Service is great, our servers were very professional and proactive. We could tell they were very busy serving multiple tables, but they didn’t miss anything and always had a smile on their faces. This is the kind of service which I feel perfectly fine with tipping them fairly, well deserved. After the meal we had a great walk around the premise, there were a lot of great spots for photos/video in this historical building. I would come again when the family comes down to Hamilton and area later to see the autumn leaves.
We drove from Toronto this weekend for my mom’s birthday. It was a gorgeous location, and the falls was a cherry on top of course! The overall ambiance and design of the restaurant was beautiful - our cameras were out quite often if that helps lol. Service was also good, although we weren’t able to be seated near the water, our server was still very accommodating. Drinks were great and food came out in a timely manner. However my only disappointment was the food. Besides the mushroom linguine everything else was not so great. Steak was very salty, burger was not flavoured at all and overall the food seemed very bland. Considering the price of the meals I hoped the food would be worth it. But I guess the views made up for it. Overall we really did enjoy our time here. If the food was better I would definitely consider coming back!
I recent visit to Ancaster Mill was for brunch, and it was an absolutely delightful experience! We opted for the afternoon tea meal, which featured a variety of delicious baked dishes and desserts. The food was amazingly delicious, and the selection of drinks was impressive. Apart from the fantastic food, the ambiance was truly remarkable. The beautiful waterfall on the property added a serene and picturesque touch to the overall experience. I highly recommend Ancaster Mill for anyone looking for a memorable date spot!
Really nice venue but starting to age. I ve visited 4-5 times over the past 10 years for personal and business reasons. Not much has changed. I d like to see investments being made to modernize or update the venues. They seem to be relying on a 1990s feel without keeping up with more modern offerings. Value proposition is declining as new options emerge. The locations and tranquility of the venue is unmatched. The challenge will be to continually justify the value while the I structure ages. Staff are good. The restaurant is very nice with a great menu. A venue at a crossroads for sure. Try it out and see what you think. You won t leave disappointed but you may just move.
We expected better from a high end restaurant. I ordered Surf and Turf. I was asked rare or well done?. I said rare. What arrived was RAW with the outside browned, with a single shrimp sitting on top. The meat was difficult to eat, knowing it was raw, not to mention, unhealthy. The mashed potatoes werent hot. No Gravy on them, and no butter to put on them. No salt or pepper either. I asked for butter and our waitress brought it but the potatoes werent even warm enough to melt the butter!. Veggies (green beans) were the same tepid temperature as was the meat. The only thing I enjoyed was the single shrimp and my glass of wine. Our waitress was lovely and the location is beautiful, but Ive had FAR better food in a Roadhouse! Wont be back.
Nice place and nice service
What a wonderful experience, excellent food and better people.
Exceptional service, great views and delicious food. Can t recommend enough!
Amazing brunch, atmosphere and service. Couldnt have asked for more!
Amazing brunch and our server Christine was outstanding! I am recently dairy free and she worked so hard to accommodate my needs and checked on us frequently:)
Great restaurant with great atmosphere and great services
Horribly inaccessible. Could not maneuver around at all with my infant in a stroller I dont know how anyone would manage with accessibility needs. They had zero changing tables or spaces for breastfeeding or pumping mothers. The space to people ratio was horrendous. Not a well planned event space. Noise was an issue as was dinner arriving at almost 9pm. I would not recommend this as an event venue. I had a horrible experience as a guest.
Excellent Brunch!! ...cant beat the atmosphere!
We recently enjoyed Sunday brunch at the Ancaster Old Mill, and it was absolutely fabulous! The selection of food was incredible, offering something for everyone. The service was excellent attentive and professional. The ambiance was perfect, with a cozy, elegant setting, and the view overlooking the surrounding nature is simply phenomenal. While the brunch is a little on the pricey side, it s well worth it. The flat fee includes unlimited drinks, such as Caesars, mimosas, and sparkling wine, along with coffee. It s a wonderful way to indulge and make a special occasion truly memorable. Highly recommend!
great view of the water fall , good ambiance and delicious food what else one can ask for when everything fall into same place it is a blissful treat one can have.
Wonderful brunch on a Sunday afternoon, grounds are beautiful with a waterfall, a spectacular setting for photos with friend or loved one. Brunch had many items to choose from, so much variety and everything was tasty and perfectly prepared, highly recommended!
Charming and beautiful spot with various creeks and falls in the area. Unique dishes. Changing seasonal menu. Great food. Service ok. Not great service. Its subtle. Theyre not on top of you. They dont need to please you. They know why youre there. So, its good enough. Place looks like a nice spot to rent out for a larger gathering with their other venue spots. Would return. Excellent cappuccino.
Photographed a wedding here this year, we always enjoy the service and atmosphere, especially the food! we even took photos of all the plates that were served that night :)
I have been waiting just over 1 month for someone from Ancaster Mill events to reach out to me regarding my $5K deposit on my wedding. SADLY I will not be getting married right now so I wanted to use my deposit towards hosting another event. I have called 5 times and told each time my coordinator would reach out and the last 2 times that the General Manager would reach out. Nobody is following through on their word. I DO NOT recommend hosting ANY event here as it will be IMPOSSIBLE to reach anyone to plan a single detail.
Stunning
I LOVE this place! Food and service are top notch. The food is so good that I bought the cookbook. Totally recommend for weddings and a special night out.
The Ancaster Mill was a stunning wedding venue. We got a lot of compliments from our guests about it. Similarly, the food was delicious! The staff at the Ancaster mill were very polite and tried their best to accommodate us when things did not go as planned. Our wedding coordinator was Alayna. She was AMAZING. She was probably one of our favourite parts of our whole wedding package. I highly recommend her! She is so kind and you can tell how passionate she is about her job. In terms of constructive criticism, the ancaster mill needs to work on their communication. Multiple times, our invoices were wrong, they did not cc both married couples in the emails (as per our request), one person would tell us something is allowed then another person would say thats not allowed. Ultimately, our wedding was amazing and I would recommend the Ancaster mill.
A must try high end buffet. Only Sunday brunch. Book months ahead. Nice environment. Good for wedding.
I recently attended a wedding at Ancaster Mill. The dinner and service was excellent. Probably the best meal Ive ever had at a wedding. Others at the table agreed. Food
We had our wedding at the Ancaster Mill on October 25, 2024 and we cannot say enough positive things about this place. From the moment we first made contact with the Mill we were supported in every way imaginable. Everything ran so smoothly on the day off and they will provide you with a maître de and a concierge that will literally be with you ALL day long. Anything that needs to be dealt with they are on it. We cannot say enough positive things about our maître de, Lily and our events consultant, Katelynn and everyone else in between that made the day memorable. They even provided us with a gift which was so kind of them. All of our guests cannot stop raving about the food and the beauty of this venue. If we were to get married again it wouldn t even be a question about where we would pick, we would pick this venue over and over again. Thank you to everyone who made our wedding day so special!
We are recently engaged, and also approaching our 5th anniversary of being together, so we wanted to scope the place out as a potential venue. Will be booking an official tour ASAP. The atmosphere was amazing, the service was fantastic and the food was to die for. I have NEVER had short ribs even half as good as the ones served to us last night. We also shared a small chocolate dessert which was more than delightful. I cant wait to tour this venue!
I was at Ancaster Mill for a wedding last night and not only was it a beautiful venue but all of the staff was SO kind and helpful with my dietary restrictions - and the food was amazing! With my dietary restrictions Im used to getting something very plain and tasteless when Im out at events, but the food at Ancaster Mill was kind to my sensitive stomach and absolutely delicious!
I m leaving this review after visiting Ancaster Mill just a couple of days after getting engaged. I called to check if they had availability to view the venue, and the receptionist went above and beyond my expectations. Not only did she ensure I could come in right away, but she also got me incredibly excited about my future wedding. Although I haven t yet finalized my venue choice Im looking at one other option this week my heart is already set on Ancaster Mill. Its not just the stunning atmosphere that won me over, but the exceptional customer service. I truly felt that if I needed anything in the future, they would be there to help. I really appreciate that level of care and attention, and I highly recommend this venue to anyone considering it for their special day.
I had my baby shower in the 1812 room this past Saturday and everything was absolutely perfect. The food was phenomenal and the special events staff/team went above and beyond to make the day an unforgettable one. Our bartender was Matt and everyone loved him!!! A big thank you to everyone at the Ancaster Mill.
We loved coordinating S&Ls wedding at Ancaster Mills this past weekend. We liaised with Nycole during planning and worked directly with Christina, Angela and Sash on the wedding day! The team went above and beyond to ensure our couple and their families were happy. Thank you for your professionalism, attention to detail and impeccable customer service. The food was also divine! Well be back soon. Maleila Day of Wedding Coordinator
Cozy warm place
Such a unique and amazing place we went for a wedding and it was magical!
Attended a Christmas dinner here. Beautiful space!! Very friendly staff . The food was very well plated and absolutely delicious! Look forward to returning! Thank you!!
What a delightful place to have Sunday brunch!! It s worth every cents of $75. The all you can eat buffet have top notch food options. From whole lot of seafood variety to meat options or even if your are a vegetarian. Everyone has something to please their appetite!! And the bottomless mimosa or sparkling wine or ceasers are just cherry on the top. Ofcorse there are other juice and non alcoholic beverages available too. And their desert section was delicious! The only thing I couldn t try was the croissant and bakery items like muffins and breads, cause I literally didn t had anymore space to breathe in my tummy lol. Highly recommend this place for brunch. Please making reservations in advance!!
Visited for a wedding, all I can say was it is a very beautiful place and the did an extraordinary job with dinner and the ceremony.
I attended a wedding last night and the staff were amazing. My spouse and I are vegan and the meals were fantastic! Normally when we attend weddings, the vegan meal is a second thought and not a lot of effort goes into the dishes. The 3 course meal was sublime and the late night snack was great! It sounds simple, but they even had oat milk for our coffee. We felt well taken care of and had an amazing experience. Shout out to our server Stefan for taking care of us.
Food was much better pre pandemic. Specialty coffee were part of the brunch before. Would like to see more salad variety for vegan options and cookies.
Ancaster Mill is a remarkable venue. From the food, to the beautiful grounds, and the event staff I am blown away. We celebrated our wedding at The Ancaster Mill yesterday and I could not be happier. Our guests couldn t stop talking about how amazing the food and venue was. Incredible day, if I could give 10 stars I would.
Beautiful place
It was my first time and my sisters also, I loved it, and I plan to come back Dietary restrictions: I am gluten free ,not celiac,I was very happy with the menu Food : 5/5 |
I never went to such cafe in my life damn the view was so so good . For the first time i had my food near to fall . Excellent hospitality, great staff and service. The food was too good . We had hummus with naan and pasta . It was wonderful. It so quite best place for date
Our wedding at Ancaster Mill was nothing short of perfect! The venue is beyond beautiful, with its charming historic atmosphere and stunning natural surroundings. The attention to detail from the staff was unmatched every aspect of the day was seamless and meticulously cared for. From the gorgeous setting to the exceptional service, Ancaster Mill truly made our wedding day unforgettable. We couldn t have imagined a better place to celebrate such a special moment in our lives!
09/28/24 Dreadfully slow and inadequate service. Croque madame, and the squash dip were severely bland. The turkey sandwich looks like it was made from a cafeteria. Better to go to the Lord Nelson where you can actually be served a good meal. Won t be returning!
Beautiful experience, cozy space, delicious food
The place was amazing and very cozy and romantic
Was here for a wedding had a great time. Very nice grounds well kept, food and service was very nice!
Great place to eat! And they do weddings.
Sent an order there! Noone was coming to collect the order. The staff was trying to be nice not paying attention to what I was saying. Felt I was ignored.
Food was very delicious. Service was not great. We sat for over 30 mins to get our bill. It s like they forgot we even existed. We had to flag a service down for drink refills . No one even came to ask if our dinner was to satisfaction. Only giving 3 stars because the food itself was great.
Read my stars carefully to make an informed decision. The restaurant offers you with the most delicious menu with seasonal fruits and vegetables. The location is out of a postcard with a breathtaking view of the waterfalls and the fall colors just add to beauty. Now let s talk about the service for which I would take off all the stars from my feedback. We were offered our drinks post 20 - 30 mins of wait, which was a bottle of wine not sure how hard can it be to bring a bottle to the table, maybe it was being flown from Italy!! Our main course arrived over a course of 30 mins, maybe they were waiting that we devour each dish first before they served us the next and last one came in after we had finished our main course. Infact the server did not even have the courtesy to inform us if our request for switching the dishes was accepted, we just left it to fate!! Finally after waiting for 30 mins we received the menu for desserts and my list goes on . So go there to have the most amazing meal by the most amazing view with a not so amazing service expectation and you ll be good!!
We had our wedding at Ancaster Mill three weeks ago and are overall not very happy with how things went on the day of the event. Our ceremony and reception were delayed by one and a half hours due to a medical emergency with the previous wedding. While no one was at fault, Ancaster Mill should not have scheduled weddings so close together since emergencies do happen. Our wedding party, guests, and decorators were unable to access the chapel as the previous bride was taking pictures outside, blocking the entrance, and her guests would not leave the chapel, preventing our decorators from setting up. Our guests were already arriving at this time, and my mother-in-law had to ask our concierge twice to let the bride know that she needed to move. It is unfair to pay over $3,000 to rent the chapel and have the employees unable to ask the bride to move without prompting from my mother in law, knowing there was another wedding after. My husband and I waited by the special events office, where I was asked to go to my bridal suite due to the rule of brides not being able to see each other. Amidst all this chaos, we did not receive any apologies from the manager or employees. The manager even ignored me later that night when I was in the special events office due to another bride passing by. Dinner was late, and the dance floor did not open until an hour and a half later than planned, and our guests looked tired and ready to leave. This was mostly due to the DJ, one of the few companies recommended by Ancaster Mill. He was honestly terrible. We went with them to avoid the extra $300 charge by Ancaster Mill. They also broke our first contract by not providing tablecloths as stated, but they did deduct $500 from our bill. It was just very inconvenient to pick up and deliver the tablecloths to and from the rental company and Ancaster Mill. The few positive aspects of Ancaster Mill are its beautiful grounds and good food but the amount spent does not justify the level of service provided.
I attended a my first wedding at the Ancaster Mill recently. I was definitely not disappointed I had heard a lot of good things about the food and atmosphere and it 100% lived up to it Food : 5/5
I know the team had a great part in creating my friends wedding experience, but Michaelangelo made the drinks, was the head chef, dj, florist and even carved the pig (Ben was even great, sous chef on the pig). He made the experience amazing, and even wed the bride and groom. Couldn t recommend more
I recently had a disappointing experience at this restaurant . We waited for over an hour to be seated, only to find ourselves at an uncomfortable table. When we requested to change our seating, the staff informed us that it wasnt possible. Overall, the service was lacking, and it negatively impacted our dining experience. I hope they can improve their customer service in the future.
We had dinner here last night and it was an amazing experience. The view of the waterfall was truly amazing. The food and the service exceeded our expectations. Everything we ordered tasted fresh, high quality, and flavourful. Even though the food was expensive, the generous portions, the flavour, and the high quality of the food made up for it. When we ordered Rosemary Focaccia as an appetizer, they gave us a whole loaf! We were really happy about this because it was so good, especially the cranberry butter that it came with. We decided take the rest home and we plan to eat it for the rest of the week. The Beet and Burrata was pretty good too. The Squash Risotto was an absolute flavour bomb and I would highly recommend it! The Braised Beef Short Rib was cooked to perfection. It was huge, so I took half of it home and look forward to eating it for lunch today! The chocolate truffle dessert was excellent as well. We told them we were celebrating a birthday, and so they added a little candle next to the dessert, which was a nice touch that I really appreciated! Our server was very professional and wrapped up all our take away items for us. The food also arrived very quickly. Overall, we would highly recommend Ancaster Mill.
Friendly staff, food is amazing! Definately plan your visit if youre coming for brunch, reservations is a must! The views and the surrounding area is beautiful!
Hands down the most worth-it all-you-can-eat brunch! The selections are unbelievable so many options, including oysters! The view, atmosphere, and service are all top-notch, I really cant find anything to complain about. The only downside is that its super hard to make a reservation because they re so popular. But if you can get in, it s totally worth it!
This place is fantastic. Gorgeous place right in front of a small waterfall. The food there is also incredible. Servers are super friendly and professional. Highly recommend it to anyone who loves great food and nature.
Good
Spectacular venue for a wedding. The outdoor chapel was absolutely beautiful.
Not impressed with the lack of communication while trying to book a wedding. I called and emailed several times only to be told the person wasnt available and they would return my call. The last communication was 4 months ago. I guess they dont want business. After reading some reviews we have decided to go with another venue. Unfortunately Ancaster was our first and only pick from our first date. Oh well.
We recently had our wedding at Ancaster Mill in the Millview Room and everything from the planning to the day-of was absolutely perfect and beyond my wildest dreams. Huge thank you to Emily and Emma for ensuring the day went off without a hitch. Would definitely recommend this venue if you are looking for a more hands off approach for wedding planning as this venue has it all from helping you make sure your ducks are in a row well in advance to providing you with day-of coordinators to ensure you are kept on track.
We booked a reservation at the Ancaster Mill for our 10 year anniversary. The food is specialized so understand this is not a Kelseys with 50 menu items. I ordered the tenderloin while my wife ordered the lamb. The meal was good but the highlight was the service. We have an 8 year old autistic son and he was becoming very agitated because of the ambient music. To a regular person this would have gone unnoticed, but he is highly sensitive it. The server asked us if we wanted her to turn it down and did so without question. We really appreciated her accommodating our son because otherwise we probably would have had to leave due to our sons escalating anxiety. As a result, we were able to sit and enjoy a wonderful meal, and our son happily munched on his chicken fingers and fries. Going out with an autistic child can be unpredictable at the best of times, so the fact that the staff at the Ancaster Mill were willing to help us enjoy our 10 year anniversary is something we will not soon forget. We appreciate it more than you will ever know.
The focaccia was delicious and the location was stunning! I was in awe the entire evening.
Annemarie and I want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Emily and her incredible team for making our wedding day unforgettable. The entire event was flawlessly organized, and we re still in awe of how smoothly everything went. A special shoutout to Helen (Mother of the Bride), who has notoriously high expectations your team exceeded them all, and our whole family agrees! The thoughtful gift were a delightful surprise and added a personal touch that we truly appreciated. Your partnership with Peter, the photographer, was fantastic he captured every moment beautifully. We can t praise Sash and Maria enough, along with the amazing service from the servers, chefs, bartender, and all the staff. A special thank you for accommodating our request to have Sash as our right-hand woman that day she was outstanding! Honestly, Sash deserves a raise she s that good! Not a single complaint from our guests everyone loved the food and the venue. It was a perfect day, right down to the weather. We re so grateful for the professionalism and dedication of your entire team. Annemarie, the bridge, specifically said that the day was perfect and if anything did in fact go wrong in the day, she had no idea about it - this is amazing feedback as the bride shouldnt have to worry about anything and on our day, she didnt have to thanks to you all - I truly appreciate this. Annemarie and I wholeheartedly recommend Emily, the wonderful office staff, the exceptional food, and the top-notch service to anyone who will listen. We re thrilled that you were a part of our special day and can t wait to return to Ancaster Mill for a meal! As they do brunch and dinner services as well if you dont know. Thank you so much, you all are truly amazing. Please share our thanks with Sash, Maria, and everyone involved in making our day perfect.

Great experience with service and food quality
Very nice place and food was good as well.
This restaurant is a must visit. The views are just breath taking and the service is WoW
The best place to celebrate a special occasion
Food was great, I order stake didn t got knife for it asked twice, had to use my wife s butter knife. One Pepsi drink never arrived as well. Once again food as always amazing. Food
I recently dined at your restaurant on Sept 7th and I wanted to share some feedback regarding my experience. Unfortunately, it was far from what I had hoped for. Firstly, the service I received was quite disappointing. The server ( Candace) was rude and inattentive, which made the entire experience uncomfortable. I expect a certain level of professionalism and courtesy, especially when dining out, and this was not met. Additionally, the pasta I ordered was bland and lacked the flavor I was expecting. Given your restaurants reputation, I was really looking forward to enjoying a quality meal, but this dish fell short. I wanted to bring these issues to your attention in the hopes that they can be addressed, ensuring a better experience for future customers.
We got married at Ancaster Mill in June 2024. We knew we wanted a scenic venue with great food, and Ancaster Mill more than delivered. The consultants were responsive and helpful throughout the process, and the day-of team did an amazing job. Our guests raved about the food and the venue made for beautiful wedding pictures. Wed recommend Ancaster Mill to anyone looking for an unforgettable wedding!
I had the pleasure of MCing a friends wedding at the Ancaster Mill in early August. Amongst the incredible ambience, scenery, and decor, was an incredible team of people who made the night run smoothly. A big thank you to the entire team at the Ancaster Mill, most notably Julia, Sash, Maria, and Dana.
Went here for a birthday dinner. For what is considered a fine dining restaurant, the service was the absolute bare minimum. Server didnt introduce themselves, ask if wed been there before, ask if we had questions about the menu, tell us the specials, ask if we were there for an occasion, describe any of the dishes etc. Their first interaction was hi what can I get you to drink, then the same with food, they checked in on us once and then brought the bill. For the price of their food, I expected much more elevated service. The food was great, and atmosphere is very nice. The roasted corn risotto that came with my beef was my favorite part. Also got the foccacia which was much bigger than expected. However, for paying what we did, I wouldnt go back here considering lack of service.
Top notch place. Go here for special occasions!! No complaints about the food or service. Sit near the waterfall if you can.. dont get the seats in the dark corner outdoors as there are a lot of mosquitoes.
Amazing and charming place. Everything is clean and good service. I have to say that the fall that they have there is so cool and good spot for photos
Recently came back here for our 1 year anniversary (also married here) and it was a very pleasant time. The atmosphere speaks for itself, the location is truly beautiful. It has multiple perfect backdrops for photos and elevated our wedding photos no doubt. The food we ordered for dinner Rosemary Focaccia - 5/5 Was baked perfectly with the inside still warm and the outside having a perfect crunch. Served with some type of lemon butter which paired very nicely. Whipped butter was still ordered however as I found the original butter to be a bit too overpowering. Farm Greens - 5/5 Put together very well with all the flavours meshing nicely. Nuttiness from the walnuts with sweetness from the peaches and a creamy funk from the goat cheese helped pair together perfectly with the greens. The vinaigrette did wonderfully cutting through the flavours and adding good acidity. Vadouvan Lamb Shank - 5/5 Absolutely well put together and thought out. The curry mixed with pomegranates on the couscous was absolutely delicious. Curry lacked a bit of a kick but was very flavourful. It was also nice and thick so it coated each grain very well. Using pomegranates to cut into the savory with some sweetness really took this meal to the next level for me. Lamb shank was perfectly cooked and came right off the bone. It was a tad salty so my only suggestion is lighten on the spices or to provide more couscous to mix with. Braised Short Rib - 5/5 Corn risotto was top tier and delicious. Flavours were really well and almost had a cheesey smokey flavour. Risotto was also cooked perfectly. Short rib LOOKED dry but absolutely melted once we put a fork through it. Well cooked and a delicious dish overall. Chamomile&Plum Panna Cotta - 3/5 Little bias as I think the panna cotta we got in Italy set the standard for us.. however the panna cotta tasted more like greek yogurt. Corn&Peach Parfait - 5/5 Didnt know what to expect here, but a delicious combo overall. The cornscotti was dry and left aside; however, the peaches combod with the icecream and popcorn really put together for a delicious bite. Pineapple bourbon - 2/5 Could use less bitters and I was hoping for there to be a hint of pineapple sweetness, but overall the drink just tasted like bourbon and bitters. Wouldve been happier getting bourbon neat. Baileys Classic - 4.5/5 Simple and classic, could have been better though. Overall another great experience, the food although priced high does speak for itself unlike a lot of other restaurants. Service is always excellent and polite although I had hoped that it being our 1 year anniversary at a location we got married at that it would be something they would have asked us about. My wife loves novelty gifts such as cakes for birthdays and anniversaries. This was listed on our booking so it would have been nice to have been asked rather than having to mention it. 10/10 would recommend you pick here as a wedding venue and if not that, just come by for their dinner or brunch. Youll walk away full and satisfied and so will your instagram.
Slow service, cold steak, bad coffee, very nice atmosphere
We had our wedding at the Ancaster Mill this weekend. Everything went smoothly with the help of the team from the Special Events Office. A special shout out to Erica and Emma for your help the day of. The service and food was outstanding. Awesome Job. I would highly recommend this venue for your wedding. Vegetarian options: Excellent vegetarian options Dietary restrictions: Our guests with dietary restrictions enjoyed the food
Gorgeous wedding venue. The appetizers all sounded and looked incredible but could have done with some more flavour. Our main course of salmon on Israeli couscous was delicious. The rooms were all so beautiful with such amazing views from the large windows!
A very beautiful place for dine-in. Perfect to take your date for brunch, lunch. Food was amazing.. especially corn soup, mashroom linguine pasta
Lovely location for a restaurant. We went here for lunch on a weekday and it wasnt crowded. I had seen the place before on instagram post, so it was on the list to visit. We got a table outside, and by the fall, that flows near the restaurant. The sound of water was amazing. There is parking available and 1 min walk to the restaurant. The food was good but there were very few options. However, the location is amazing so you forget about food. Wonderful place for a couple to go for a date or celebrate a special occassion. Overall experience was good.
Love the ambiance, the food, the feel of the environment. We love everything about it. We will definitely be back.
Best place to roam around
Expensive but an extraordinary experience!
Food is great. Beautiful view. Its worth for the price.
Had lunch today, burger was ok-ish but the fries were soggy and soft when I first grabbed one, half of the bill goes to the view and the waterfall, disappointed when the total was almost 40
Best resturant ive been to in ancaster.
Lovely place! Absolutely gorgeous. The food was good too. Our server was so sweet she was amazing!!! The hostess (2 of them) who greeted and sat us looked like they hate being there, no smile just cold but I am reviewing the place so 5 stars it is. Food
Beautiful scene. Very friendly staff. Convenient parking. Fire burning wood smells good. Clean facility.
I used to go to this place with my girl friends once a year around Christmas time and everything was so perfect there, and we keep going back until the covid came. This year, I made a reservation for the Sunday brunch almost two months in advance to celebrate my boyfriends bday. The atmosphere and decoration were as gorgeous as before, but everything else was no longer the same and hardly met expectation (Im not a very picky person and have pretty low standard)...we were seated at a small table by the window, around 15 mins after I started to eating from my plate, I noticed water dripping from the ceiling...the waitress might see the confusion in my face as I kept looking at the ceiling lol. She came to me and asked is it AC dripping? (she already knew) I said yes probably. She said okay let me turn off the AC. Then I noticed the AC in the ceiling, I was okay with her suggestion. But another 10-15 minutes passed, I still see water dripping onto my place/food. I think I should move to a new table instead so we requested. We moved the glasses and coffees ourselves to the new table and continued our brunch. However, not long after, the waitress brought us the bill, I looked at the time, it was less than an hour since we were there, not to mention the time I spent looking at the ceiling...I felt very rushed and distracted, rather than enjoy the time and food there... - my boyfriend asked for a Caesar but was given a mimosa. - shortly after we moved to the new table, I saw new guests were brought to sit at that table with dripping AC above...I hope they wouldnt notice the it, and water is clean. I dont like the fact that they know the AC is dripping onto that table, they still seat guests there, and each person is paying at least 95+ including tax and tips, shouldnt we deserve sitting at table with no AC water dripping to our plate? - food was good, but not as great as before, given the increased price $75+tips
I loved this beautiful place and good food at a fair price
I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The staff was incredibly attentive and welcoming, making me feel valued as soon as I walked in. Ive never had such outstanding service before; it truly set the tone for the entire evening. The food was well worth the drive and the money. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared and bursting with flavor. The ambiance was complemented by an amazing view that added a special touch to the overall experience. I can confidently say that I ll be coming back every month to relive this fantastic experience. If you re looking for a place that delivers on all fronts, is the one. Highly recommended!
My husband & I celebrated our wedding here lastnight & it was a 5 star experience. From Sasha & Julia coordinating, to assisting us on our wedding day individually & as a unit, to them holding my dress & vail throughout photos, to Stef (the server) being so attentive with catering & cleaning up.... the entire Ancaster team made our wedding day so immaculate & magical. My husband and I had the best wedding & day of our lives. Thank you so so so much!!! Especially to Sasha! We cant thank you enough for all of your kindness & patience with us. You made our day an unforgettable experience. With love, Kaitlin & Johnny Augustin.
Such an amazing experience. Everything was perfect!!! You should go.
We enjoyed our anniversary at Ancaster Mill, service was fast, taste was excellent
Fantastic venue. Beautiful grounds, great views, excellent food.
Wonderful ambiance and spectacular views from dining room. The food was very mediocre and over priced with very limited choice .I guess you have to pay for the view. Service was excellent but really charging for a piece of birthday cake was it the candle.
We had an amazing dining experience! The service was impeccable from start to finish, making us feel truly welcomed. The seafood pasta was delicious, with perfectly cooked mussels and succulent lamb that melted in our mouths. The desserts were equally outstanding, a perfect ending to a perfect meal. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great food and exceptional service!
Awesome food and best view from the restaurant. Vegetarian options: Must try their vegetarian option which are chilled cucumber soup , baked brei , hummus with pita bread, mushroom linguine. Food : 5/5 |
food ok,ordered burger no cheese, still.put it on,fries good
Came here for a date with my girlfriend whos out of town and the service was impeccable as always! Food was amazing, Ancaster Mill is going above and beyond to source the best local produce and meats, and the wine selection was superb as well. The hostess got us a private seating area by the falls and all the touches were fantastic for a great evening. Thank you Ancaster Mill for always being so great!
Went for lunch and it did not disappoint. Started with the Live Pâté which was smooth and rich. It had caramalized onions on top. We also had the warm Brie cheee board paired with delicious jam and candied hazelnuts. Eggplant with couscous, mussels and the burger were our mains. The burger had perfectly cooked pork belly on top. Service was quick and attentive, but did not feel rushed. The atmosphere is serene and beautiful. Looking forward to our next visit.
What a beautiful place! The Sunday buffet was top notch. Very nice staff and amazing eats.
We had a bridal shower 23/06/2024 in the Solarium Room!! We enjoyed the Sunday Brunch. There were 25 guests. Everyone had a wonderful time. The food was top notch, the service - Alena!! was perfect. She was attentive, extremely easy to work with. Very kind and helpful. She also has a lovely smile and very easy to chat with!! A very big thank you from the mother of the bride and groom. You made our event perfect!! The venue is beautiful and adds to the grand feeling of the event. The whole team did a fantastic job, from the staff that greeted you at the door to the staff at all the food stations. Everyone did a fantastic job. We thank you all very much for a truly enjoyable afternoon!!! Parking: It was fine!
The Rosmary Focaccia was excellent! The food amazing!!! And the music.... PERFECT. Great place!!
The food being food was the icing on the cake - loved the atmosphere, both indoors and outdoors. The sauce on the burger was
My husband and I toured here for our wedding in Jan 2023 and booked our June 14th 2024 wedding right away! We fell in love with the natural beauty. Things we loved about it was that our ceremony (stream side chapel) , reception (room 1812) and photos would all happen on the same site. -The food and alcohol were included in the price along with other things like chairs, white linens, napkins, menus, and all of the plates / glassware! They also provide a wedding concierge to assist you for the day and an officiant (extra fee if you want him at the rehearsal). which some venues charge extra for. -Our ceremony could be outdoors. -Because of how beautiful it is, you don t need a lot of decor. Overall it was a good experience because we had an it is what it is mentality but here s some information for those thinking about getting married here. Pros: -For the most part, staff were very helpful, professional and responsive all along the way and especially on the day of. -The food was delicious and we had many options. -We received many compliments from our guests on the venue. -The whole place, in and out, is just breath taking. Cons: -Staff turnover is high. We had 3 different consultants. -Our wedding was late in the day (ceremony started at 6pm) and we couldn t change it to earlier so we didn t have much time to dance. -They charge full price for children 13-18 years of age, even though they cannot legally drink (They should have a fee for drinkers and another for non drinkers). -We wasted so much food and guests barely touched our midnight buffet. We had to ask MULTIPLE times for takeout boxes and by the time they actually brought them out many of our guests had already left. -You pay before the wedding day so if people don t show you re just out that money. -The venue told our Dj to wrap it up for 12:30am even though we had paid him and had the space until 1am. We also paid the venue an additional 300$ because he wasn t a preferred vendor. Photo attached. -During cocktail hour we and our bridal party went for pictures. They only offered us drinks and not the bridal party and they only came around once with hors d uvres. Lots of miscommunication and discrepancies so I suggest after every meeting you follow up and confirm everything in writing. One example is our rehearsal dinner (pictures attached). We were told during our first meeting it was 80$ per Person and then when it came Time to book (a month before) we were told there was an additional fee of 250$ for the room and 40$ an hour for the bartender. So we (14 people) ended up just eating at the restaurant and service took forever! We didn t let these inconveniences ruin our day and we have no regrets!
Went for the first time for all you can eat brunch buffet and had a great time! Endless mimosas and so much selection for food. The staff was really friendly. Service was OK, but could have been better. There were many times I needed a refill on coffee and the server didnt check in enough. The location is really what its all about. The waterfall is beautiful and the windows looking out into nature were fantastic. The walk from the parking lot down those stairs and over the bridge was gorgeous, as well as through the windowed walk way to the restaurant. I tried so many different things and most of it was amazing. I highly recommend this for brunch. It does take reservations well in advance to get in though. 75$ a person is a lot for brunch, but with unlimited mimosas/ceasars/coffee it makes up for it. I would go again! Next time for a girls brunch :)
Excellent food and atmosphere. Good ambience.
Ancaster Mill property is a beautiful and absolutely dreamy location for a wedding or event. The staff were wonderful, the location was beautiful, and the food was wonderful. Highly Recommend
Photographed an intimate wedding there yesterday. Nice space! https://andreasphoto.ca/ancaster-mill-intimate-wedding-photographs Food
Went to have dinner at Ancaster Mill for Valentine s day yesterday. They had a 3 course 90$/person fixed menu, and special cocktails for the occasion (which all looked delicious tbh). The meal was delicious (the magret duck with the smoked sweet potatoes purée was my highlight). The staff was also very nice and friendly, which is always a plus! As for the location, it s super cute - i need to go back in summer or during fall (for more daylight and to appreciate the outside scenery).
Food wasn t that great but loved the service and view.
Its a nice spot and the building/campus has some interesting things. The food we have found to be underwhelming for the price and service has been ok.
We celebrated my husbands birthday at Ancaster Mill, and it was an unforgettable experience. The team went above and beyond to make our evening special. The food was amazing, the ambiance was fantastic, and the service was impeccable. The surprise sweet treat with a candle for my husband was a delightful touch. Thank you, Ancaster Mill, for making our celebration so wonderful!
Went for brunch the presentation of the food was amazing but the seafood was so old and not fresh we were sick after having the crab it was so salty and smelled really fishy almost like they were trying to cover up the bad old crab taste with salt . The crape guy was so nice and the crapes were great , so was the omelette lady ! They were the highlight of my day . The charcuterie had very little cheese options and we had a great service . We d go again but they need to work on the freshness of their seafood and the verity of the food for 75$+ tax per person they should really do better .
My friends and I came here for the Sunday brunch and one of my friends moved near Hamilton, so I thought this was a great opportunity to make the drive to enjoy some brunch together. They have different stations, so in the main room you have the seafood station, charcuterie, salads, other apps, along with breads, scones and croissants. The seafood station was my favourite as I love oysters, these ones were ok. I had asked the person shucking them what type of oyster they were and they just said east coast. The crab legs weren t the greatest, very salty. The seafood salad and smoked salmon were great, although I wish they had capers available. I didn t really bother with the charcuterie table or salads, but they didn t have some really good risotto balls! With that said, their hot food station had a variety of options. There was meat and vegetarian lasagna, perogies, eggs benedict, ham/bacon sausage, chicken & waffles, etc. Along with the omelette, crepe and craved meats station. The sever mentioned that these stations can change, it s nice that they switch it up. I was not a fan of the hollandaise sauce they put on the eggs Benny, so I didn t really enjoy that dish. They also had the dessert station, I don t really have a sweet tooth so I didn t venture over there. With that said, it s an all you can drink brunch as well, I was kind of disappointed because I didn t even taste alcohol in my caesars. It s a very basic Caesar too, no garnishes except for the rim. Just be prepared to leave full! Did I enjoy my time? Definitely. So I think the $75 pp cost is a bit much for what is offered? Yes. Vegetarian options: For the eggs benny option, it has ham but you can request for a vegetarian option. Also, the omelette station is great because you can add what you want.
Great dinner. Fantastic atmosphere.
I cannot imagine there being a better place in the GTA to get married. The team at Ancaster Mill is without a doubt the most professional, hospitable and kind group of people. They will make you and your guests feel like absolute royalty. The grounds are stunningly beautiful and the food is incredible. We are so happy we chose Ancaster Mill and we can t wait to go back for dinner on every anniversary. I miss it already!
This place is so beautiful but they need more options for food..
Great place, love the Sunday brunch options!
Wow. Unforgettable experience. The setting both inside and outside this venue is out of this world stunning. Nothing else like it in Ontario. We chose to sit on the top patio right beside the waterfall as the weather was perfect. Our server was exceptionally brilliant. The food was wonderfully presented and the prices are in line with what restaurants of much lower caliber charge nowadays. We will definitely be back!
All experiences at the Ancaster Mill have been great. However, had a high tea there recently and the experience was dampened by an unhappy and crying baby at the table nearby. Would recommend that people with young children are seated in a different area.
As exquisite as ever. A must visit for anyone visiting Hamilton/Ancaster
Grand and sweet place to experience.
Pretty nice place, Food is average, same old buffet brunch quality except they included all you can drink cocktail. But I m not a morning alcohol drinker... service is friendly and fast. For that price, If they offer better food choice and better dish quality, it will be a 5 stars...
There were good things and bad about the anniversary dinner we had here last night. This is where we got married 31 years ago and we hadn t been in a while so we thought we d try it again. They did bring us a celebratory glass of champagne each which was a nice touch. I felt that the menu selection was not that varied. We both decided on the beef tenderloin and I selected the side lobster tail. For the amount of lobster I got and the $49 market value price, this was quite outrageous. Salad and dessert were fine and the drinks were okay. I liked the fact that we were not rushed (3 hrs) however we waited 2 hours for our main course to arrive which seemed excessive. It was busy, but still. And the other huge negative was the bathroom. I was shocked to see how messy and dirty the bathroom was at 9:30pm. They need to make sure they have staff to check on this. It was not at all what I would expect from a restaurant of this calibre.
Visited for the 1st time today, quality of the brunch buffet was excellent, atmosphere was great with a nice view of the waterfall. Will definitely return again.
The atmosphere and view are a 10! Try to sit by the waterfall if you can. The buildings are all beautiful as well. The service was excellent. The mussels were very good but my chicken salad was only ok. The chicken was very dry and lacked flavor.
Attended a lovely wedding at this location. Amazing view and history captured here. The ambiance and nostalgic atmosphere is captivating. The waterfall was breathtaking.
Close to my heart because We got married there and party was awesome . Now we go there with friends and family and they never disappoint. Food and service is very good.
A hidden gem restaurant, nestled near the historic Ancaster Old Mill, where the serene sounds of nature harmonize with expertly curated food and great company. This enchanting restaurant offers a unique dining experience that seamlessly blends the tranquility of its natural surroundings with a menu designed to delight the senses. Whether youre enjoying a quiet meal with friends or a special occasion, this hidden treasure near Ancaster Old Mill provides the perfect setting for unforgettable moments. P.S. They have free valet parking and when you do your reservation, please book the table outside the patio where the falls is just beside your table.
Was here on Sunday for a wedding. The grounds were fantastic. Stunning for a wedding. The food was amazing. The wait/bar staff were so lovely and excellent at their jobs. A few things to note: this place is NOT accessible at all. Pls ensure you let those booking your space know this. The transfer bus is great. However, once in the main building, the space is not accessible. The staff that seemed to be managing the wait staff did not appear to be kind to their team and seemed to make things complicated for the wait staff. Would love to go back for a meal as the food is delicious. Wheelchair accessibility: There is none.
We recently got married at The Ancaster Mill and I can t imagine our experience being any less than perfect. From our initial meeting, to the planning and correspondence stage, and right to the day and evening of our ceremony and reception, everything was spot on. Our special day was both classy and elegant. The staff made sure the entire day was seamless. We highly recommend The Ancaster Mill for a wedding venue.
I cant say enough about this place. A true hidden gem in the heart of Ancaster, Hamilton Canada.
Nice and quiet place to enjoy scenic waterfalls and greenery with trails
Absolutely dreadful. Went for lunch on a weekday. Restaurant was not busy. The food we ordered took over an hour before it got to our table. When I asked the server they said oh sorry they were busy. The steak was supposed to be medium rare but was cooked to medium well . French fries were so salty we couldn t finish eating them. The hamburgers that were served were also very salty. We left hungry. We were very disappointed as the Ancaster Mill advertises as an above average restaurant. Maybe the chef was out to lunch.
Went to 9am service. So good. The only issue our group had since most of us work in the service industry was when servers took some cash payments and asked how much we wanted back. Tacky. Always tell the customer you will be back with their change and let them either tell you no that is OK, thanks, or let them decide how much to tip after receiving their change. It is really off-putting when you demand on the spot how much money to bring back. Also, the one server did not even bring change back to one of us, and we had to ask another server for our change to tip. Took about 15 mins before we asked what was up. We are generous tippers naturally being in the service industry, we get it. But this is a big no no for us. Other than that, great time! Great food! First time trying oysters for myself! Yum.
This is absolutely amazing place for an Experience . Food , service and atmosphere is top most.
Sunday evening dinner for 2. Lovely location.
Amazing place specialy with special one highly recommend
Ancaster mill is a pleasant location. Very beautiful inside and out. Food is amazing and they can accommodate allergies and dietary restrictions well. Only downside is that the dining hall is long and narrow so if a large wedding then some people will be isolated on the far ends
Both service and food are mediocre. The location and building are quite beautiful. A nice place for an anniversary dinner, although geared towards an older crowd, in terms of palette.
Exceptional food and amazing service makes this a very pleasant experience
Service is usually really good, this time was slow but overall great meal and great restaurant.
Highly recommended for branch or dinner. Very kids friendly however pricey. Food delicious service, superb. Kid-friendliness: When with 1 teenager and 2 kids. They love it and want to go back every weekend. :)
Ancaster Mill is just a perfect place with amazing surroundings. We went for brunch a year ago and despite our dietary restrictions (gluten and dairy intolerances) we savored oysters and calamari salad with gf bread and generous flow of mimosas. We also attended a wedding a month ago. The chapel is very quaint and has an amazing sound system. The food we had at the wedding was delicious. Happy to go back for brunch next time! Dietary restrictions: Gluten and dairy
10/10 for the view, 2/10 for the food Beautiful place But very disappointed for our meals, our meat were ALL overcooked, never had a fish that were this dry. The steak we ask for medium we got it almost well done ..
My daughter had her wedding here. Shelby was the best!! She regained my trust and made my daughters day worry free. Shelby was more than we could ask for she was on the ball with everything. The planning had its bumps so this is why I give the service 4star. The food was impeccable and a beautiful atmosphere. Although nothing is perfect but again it was Shelby that I have to give credit to and the chef!! Thanks Anna
Did not dine. Had a peaceful enjoyable romantic walk. Beautiful setup. Parking: Will return someday to dine Kid-friendliness: Yes Wheelchair accessibility: Yes
Ancaster Mill has some of the best ambiance I ve experienced in recent memory. The staff is the highlight. They helped with picture ideas and even took our pictures for us. The area we sat in was further from the falls based on time - 8:00pm but the server stated, they seat where available so going early helps. And he s you can ask to sit near the falls and if available they ll accommodate. Now on to the food. Those mussels were delicious. The sauce was great on it own and great for dipping the bread. The cheese platter was good. Stand out combination would be cream cheese and figs. Exquisite. My friend had the Wild Boar Pappardelle, a pasta. I had the Grilled Branzino. Once again the flavors were superb. We ended up taking our mains to go because we filled up on the amazing mussels and bread. After dinner you are able to walk out to be closer to the falls to take wonderful pictures. The only thing that made it not be a perfect 5 was between or appetizer and main entree there was quite a wait. Our server was an amazing person and did a wonderful job, thank you.
Amazing place for events. Out of the ordinary.
I will definitely be returning. The area is so beautiful. I also attended a wedding, and it was so well organized, everyone was so friendly.
Fantastic place. Atmosphere, buildings, gardens, waterfalls, everything to make an impression. Food was delicious we try the Brie cheese as snack and taste was amazing. For main course we had the lamb and the fish and same thing. Great flavour and presentation all cook to perfection. I really recommend this place and prices are excellent for what are you getting. I will come back soon.
Traffic was horrible but once we notified the restaurant they assured us they would hold our reservation. Great service! Vegetarian options: I had the grilled eggplant, which was delish. Parking: Parking at the chapel worked but its a steep walk to the restaurant.
I was there for a bridal shower, and it was wonderful. The food was excellent and the room we were in was just lovely. Wouldnt shy away from an event there anytime soon. Parking: Grab the first lot if you can. The upper lot is great going down but returning to your car is rough.
Went here for an early mother s day for their Sunday Brunch. It s pricey but the food options were great. You get a 2 hour seating limit, they do have high chairs and boosters for kids but if you re coming with your child, might be wise to do it when they re a little more well behaved and less antsy. We brought our 2 year old and he just wanted to play or walk around. Parking: They have free valet parking, was great when we went because it was downpouring
