We go ever single week with our baby, even when pregnant and it s like our second home! We love it

The staff are very polite and respectful. Food is good too. However, they charge you for siracha sauce on the side which is really weird. If you are sitting at the restaurant and ordering a lot of food and order hot sauce, why do you get charged for it? It s not like we are ordering it take out and paying for the packaging.

I had a very delicious meal. I hope Minami City becomes the most successful business in Ontario. ^^

We ve moved to Edmonton and are still looking for sushi places like Minami. Sadly, nowhere here has sushi or the cozy vibe of Minami. We missed Minami a lot

The absolute WORST sushi Ive ever had. Rice was stale, presentation was sloppy, and staff were rude and unaccommodating.

Miso soup was very good, and tempura shrimp was not greasy. Teriyaki chicken was good but eaten cold due to the fact that the other diners meal arrived ten minutes later. Not busy here on Labour Day. Inexcusable. We were looking for a new sushi place since we lost Otaru and Sushi Itto in Newmarket. Minami will not be our new sushi place.

Hosomaki rolls are triple the size I expected...and the fish is minced, the texture very mushy. It feels very westernized. The sashimi is even huge now. Makes me wonder what theyre feeding the fish? As for the minced fish, what quality is there? I always thought the minced was left for the spicy rolls per the sauce.

Such a awful service. I dont know why the rate is not 1 star. I went inside to order for take out and she said sorry we are busy, you had to order before. and they werent that busy really. I said, so you don t take orders right now, she said we do but you have to wait over an hour. So I left and called later to order, she picked up the phone and I said I Want to order for a pickup, she said give me a second. I was on hold for over 10 minutes and she never got back to me.

Hoping that the Google 4.6 stars was meaningful, we went for dinner as a party of 6. The order was wrong when it came out - sashimi (no rice) and not nigiri (with rice). When we mentioned it, there was no response. Rather than send it back, we decided to go with it. Service is pretty non existent. Using the call button helps get someone there, as they don t seem to check on the tables. Will not be returning. Would not recommend it.

We went after a long time to much disappointment. Green Tea served Luke warm, there was fish in a guests vegetarian dish, and broccoli was cold in a HOT dish. Rest of the food was ok. Service not fine, not friendly though. Nice ambiance but thats about it. Robot servers were a bit creepy. Dietary restrictions: Be sure to specify your dietary restrictions, they dont ask enough questions.

Food was delicious. Had sashimi, crab avocado salad and hamachi. Fresh sashimi. The cut for salmon was a-bit thick. Waitress couldn t explain what kind of fish we were having on our sashimi plate besides salmon and tuna. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the food. Ambience was nice and Japanese. We had a cosy corner. Robot was used to serve the food. Very efficient. No birthday special for our birthday celebration.

This has been our go to Sushi restaurant for a number of years. They use only the freshest quality ingredients and their food is always delicious! We order takeout often, however the dine-in experience is also great as the restaurant is spacious, clean and the servers are very friendly.

One of the best sushi places in the north GTA. Enjoyed the sushi platter immensely. Service was pretty good and unobtrusive. Place was relatively busy but still got a place to sit without any wait. Parking: There is an underground lot for parking that you might not realize is there. Otherwise theres limited outdoor parking that isnt reserved for other businesses.

Decent sushi, but I m rating low because the servers are hilariously rude. They don t even realize how rude they were that it s laughable! We came in 30 mins before closing, so to be considerate we wanted to finish eating our meal quickly. When we went to pay the bill, the servers exclaimed wow amazing! You ate so much so fast! The server came back to comment twice on how how fast we ate LMAO like sorry we wanted to be considerate that youre closing soon?! it s so funny but also maybe the owners should educate the staff to not make comments about their patrons and basically calling us fat You should be grateful we didn t want to keep you open past closing hours! I will not return

Terrible, we ordered for a 7pm pick up. Upon arrival we were told that it will be 10 or 15 more minutes. Turned out to be 50 minutes late. Wasn t going to post anything negative if the food was good but that obviously didn t happen. No wasabi and the food seemed like it wasn t prepared properly. Most likely just rushing to get the order out. Also wasn t offered a tea while waiting. Most good sushi places do that. Will never go back!!. No excuse!

By far the best sushi place in all of Aurora, from the taste and quality of the fish, seaweed, and rice, to the warm and cozy atmosphere that almost makes you feel eclectic. Recommend going for lunch and grabbing one of their combos, have never been disappointed!

We came here with a friend and her toddler. Beautiful decor and very friendly staff. They re so accommodating with our requests with sitting and food specifications. We got the lunch specials, bento boxes and chirashi bowl. All orders were fresh and cooked to perfection. Generous portions as well. Highly recommend this place for a meeting and a quieter place to have a lunch meeting on a weekday afternoon.

I usually come here for their dilisous sushi , but today I didnt have a good experience at all .the waitress made a mistake with my order and I was in hurry and it took long time to bring it for me so I decided to do not pay for tip but another woman came to my table and asked me to pay the tip by force and in very rude way .I really wonder how can they act like this with a customer. I never go there again and sorry for tham

We ordered a platter and this time it was very different from the other times we ordered. The rice was very dry and hard. Not something I had experienced before at this place as we always really enjoyed their rolls and sushi.

Amazing Japanese restaurant, with fair pricing, amazingly large portions, and a neat gimmick: a robot delivers your meal to your table.

This is my first time dining in at Minami, I ve always ordered take out, and wow! Wish I could give this more than 5 stars, I adore Minami so much. Their food is fantastic and so fresh. Service is always kind and not to mention very fast, we were probably in and out within less than 45 minutes. Their (hako) torched rolls are probably some of the best I ve had in Ontario, can t wait to come back here.

High quality sushi for its price! Had a decent seared tuna salad. Excellent service the servers were constantly checking and refilling hot tea with a smile. Will definitely recommend this sushi place to my friends!

NOT a kid-friendly restaurant, had one of my worst experiences! My 2 year old was upset about something and with her crying a few minutes in, the manager came to ask my daughter to stop crying as other customers were complaining. We were already doing everything we could and its not like she was crying for like half an hour or was running around the whole restaurant bothering people or rolling around on the ground in the middle of the restaurant... she was contained in her seat and was only crying for a few minutes when she made such comment. Im not sure what it is that she wanted us to do.. did she want my 2 year old to stand outside in the dead cold winter and wait till she stopped crying before we were allowed in, or leave the restaurant completely before we even started our meal? If they cant take a kid crying even for a few minutes, they should specify themselves to be an adult only restaurant. Yes I understand a crying toddler is annoying, and yes we totally expect looks of disapproval but for the manager to purposely come to tell my 2 year old to stop crying / ask us to tame our kid was next level horrible / rude / inconsiderate. They should be embarrassed that they made such a comment to a 2 year old child.

Unpleasant Experience at Minami Restaurant: Poor Service and Unprofessional Conduct I regret to say that my recent experience at Minami restaurant left much to be desired. From the moment we attempted to pre-order our meal, the ordeal began. Despite offering our credit card details over the phone for pre-ordering convenience, we were bluntly refused the option, leaving us puzzled and frustrated. Upon arrival, our dissatisfaction only grew as we discovered a spider crawling on our table. The fact that we had to take matters into our own hands and eliminate the arachnid ourselves is unacceptable in any dining establishment, let alone one claiming to provide a pleasant experience. We were assured that pre-ordering wouldnt be necessary as the restaurant wasnt busy and service would be prompt. However, this was far from the truth. Despite being a mere five minutes away and calling in advance, we were met with resistance when attempting to pre-order, as if inconveniencing the staff with our request. The blame was shifted to the owner, indicating a lack of coordination and communication within the establishment. After enduring a lengthy wait of 15 minutes for our food, our patience was tested even further when we requested the bill. To our disbelief, it was not the hostess but another individual who handled our payment. Not only did they fail to return our change, but they also had the audacity to accuse us of neglecting to tip. When we clarified that we typically receive change before tipping, they displayed a shocking level of rudeness and unprofessionalism. In conclusion, my experience at Minami restaurant was marred by poor service, unhygienic conditions, and unprofessional conduct from the staff. I cannot in good conscience recommend this establishment to anyone and will certainly not be returning. Its a shame that such potential is overshadowed by incompetence and disregard for customer satisfaction.

Our go to for a sushi date night!

Had a great first visit this weekend with friends- will definitely be back! Rolls are plentiful and huge. Tasted very fresh. Many different kinds of maki to try which was nice to see so there was something for everyone. Setting was quaint and clean. It was very busy for Saturday night, which was great to see! Drink selection was very good also. Some menu items were not available, but that didnt spoil our visit. Service was decent, all our servers were very friendly. Plenty of parking. Vegetarian options: Many veggies options to choose from. Maki, apps, etc.

Good food and good service. During the pandemic period in the past 2.5 years, we only ordered take out from them. So happy to enjoy a sit in dinner in a booth with family. Another visit, add more photos. Nice wine and good food. Like their booth seats.

Love love LOVE the spicy salmon & shrimp tempura rolls. The bulgogi & bulgogi gyoza are really good too. Prices are very reasonable you can feed 3 people for dinner for just over $40 (including 10% cash discount). This place has converted my dad into being a sushi lover.

My family had a nice meal at Minami Sushi. The fish was very fresh and flavorful, and my kids loved the Gyoza soup. The service was prompt and attentive. While the tempora batter for the shrimp was slightly heavy, and the shrimp were on the smaller side, overall, we enjoyed our meal and will return.

This place is a local favourite for sushi in Aurora. The restaurant is usually very busy, so reserving a table is recommended! The restaurant itself is decorated in beautiful traditional Japanese faire, including traditional booths with curtains for dining in. The staff are lovely and attentive. Our server, Paul was absolutely amazing and tended to our every need. He checked in frequently to make sure our mains came after we finished our appetizers, which was super courteous of him! They also had some robot helpers, which was super cool! For the appetizers, we got lots of tempura, gyoza and Agedashi tofu. Everything was piping hot, delicious, and the sauces they came with were a lovely pairing. We ordered several salmon nigiri, the Orangeville Roll, and the Snow Crab Roll. All of it was SO fresh, melt-in-the-mouth and scrumptious. I highly recommend this place for your sushi cravings if you re in Aurora! I will definitely come back from more, and I am eager to try their Takoyaki! Vegetarian options: They have some vegetarian options on their menu. Parking: There is a sizeable parking lot right in front of the restaurant, and it goes down the outlet it is located in.

This place is the best sushi restaurant in Aurora. I have lived here for 20 years and love sushi! Minami is the best place for sushi after trying several places throughout the years. The food is amazing, fresh fish, even their uni is fantastic and fresh. Cooked food is really good too and great variety. May options for vegetarians, people who like cooked and raw food. Their friendly service is always excellent. I love there private booths and there serene quiet atmosphere. The restaurant is a bit expensive but totally worth it. Lunch specials are great too!

The food is a little expensive, but the service and food quality is very good. The overall design of the restaurant is also pretty cozy, too.

Came here for Sunday supper with my friends, I was blown away by the friendliness of the staff, the proportion of the food was very generous. The decor of the place looks stunning too. Initially I didnt want to come all the way to aurora for supper. But I was glad I came. I would totally drive for a hour to come eat here again.

Today was our first time dining in at Minami but we have had takeout several times. The atmosphere was great - we love that there are small individual rooms...for us dining with young kids and being wary of sicknesses as well, this was a big plus. Our kids were able to be more chatty and even move around in that area without us worrying about them disturbing other diners. There is a handy bell at each table so we could easily access help - the staff were very attentive and came by with whatever we needed really quickly. The lunch bento boxes are such a good deal...a good amount of food and it all tastes great. I would say that their katsu, chicken and salmon teriyaki are the best. The steak teriyaki was alright but a little bit chewier than I normally like. This place is also very kid-friendly. Our kids were ecstatic when the server suddenly came by with some sectioned plastic paw patrol plates. It was so thoughtful and a nice touch! Overall, we are so glad we got a chance to dine in and we would recommend them for both dine in and takeout. Parking: Plaza parking and apparently more in the back. Some designated spots for pick ups. Kid-friendliness: Provided kid plates and easy access to forks etc as needed

Loved the atmosphere and servers have a personable touch to each experience. Felt like I was in good hands. Ordered some green tea and the salmon lovers bento. Our server brought out a miso soup and a salad for the whole table which I don t believe was included in everyone s order but was a great gesture. The salmon lovers bento was huge and fresh. The cuts of salmon were thick and fatty. The lunch rush had the servers running around for orders, they fulfilled in house and Uber eats orders at the same time. Don t feel afraid to push the call server button on your table for assistance. Next time I come back we shall try to tackle the sushi boat or maybe a smaller sushi raft .

It is now one of my favourite sushi places in the city. Well done! the lady gave me the attitude when I started placing my order, like it was food they re giving away for free! I ve been a loyal customer for a long time, but I think it s time for them to see who s answering their phone and get rid of her! My call was at 3pm on Saturday February 19th, 2022. What a shame, spoiling your customer experience because of an angry employee? Never ordering here again.

Great amounts very tasty and reasonably priced. Service was slow so we stayed later than hoped for but we all enjoyed our food. Dynamite here also included salmon so if you avoid raw adk them to remove from the dragon and Dynamite rolls.

Spectacular place! The set up is very traditional, I loved it. Made a visit here for lunch with my family. The quality and presentation is beautiful!! I am not the type to choose quantity over quality. So if you re like me you ll love it. I loved the boat with sushi, sashimi, and rolls. The Kani salad was wonderful!! Thanks , we will be back.

First time getting sushi from here and wow k I m amazed with the quality and how fresh the sushi was. We got platter A and it comes with wasabi and everything needed. Interior looked nice as well.

The menu has a large selection of korean and japanese dishes. Portion and pricing is very fair Recommend the tempura boat (lobster, shrimp,vegetables,mushrooms) and Torched sushi platter.

Great food and really bad turn around time for any delivery. They post a 20-30 minute delivery time, which turns into well over an hour and an half every single time. I should have learned my lesson last time I tired to order and it took close to 2 hrs.... never again. Food

Very pleasantly surprised by the quality of food here. I lived in Japan for 10+ years and this was the best sushi Ive had since coming back several years ago. I got takeout but the ambiance and decor of the restaurant were amazing. Nice booths with a very Japanese style. Will definitely be back to dine in. Service was fast too. Was able to get my takeout order earlier than expected.

Came here with some mom friends and one of the waitress was completely rude. We had strollers it was blocking a pathway. She could have been a bit kinder in the way she spoke to us about it. I was a bit embarrassed because I recommended this place. Also the food quality has been lacking the last couple of years. It s not as good as it use to be.

Staff was friendly, service was good, attentive but they also gave us privacy to enjoy our meal. Although the sushi rolls tasted amazing, the sheer size may be a challenge for many. They are about 50% bigger than a 2 dollar coin. The size is really the only complaint other than the Gyoza was not hot (temperature) enough.

We moved to the oak ridges area just over a year ago and have been trying the local restaurants to find a new replacement for our old favourite place. After trying 4 other restaurants this is definitely where well be making all our future orders from! The tempura was so incredibly crunchy and not greasy. The rolls were fresh with generous chunks of fish. And the nigiri had such a clean flavor and tasted so fresh. So happy we found our new go-to sushi place!

I order from here all the time and almost always have nothing but compliments. However, on my most recent visit, I ordered vegetable tempura for $12 and when I got it home, was quite surprised to see a large piece of green pepper and a large piece of red pepper. There was only one mushroom as well. Previous visits I have had two or three on a skewer. I have eaten a lot of tempura and never have had these vegetables for good reason, they were really slimy! There was a big piece of silver skin on the salmon as well. Not impressed on this visit.

1. The food was okay. 2. Staff was kinda rude/arrogant. I called ahead of time to ask for table and they told me they have, can just walk in. Then when we arrived the receptionist lady (i supposed) asked if we made any reservations, as if we didn t we aren t allowed to dine in - she emphasized multiple times on reservations. The restaurant was not even full, a lots of empty tables. 3. Washroom was out of toilet paper, asked them to restock seems like they don t want to do the job, my kid has to hold on her pee/poo. 4. The entire time we were there only interacted with the servers no more than 4 times and it s mandatory minimum 15% tips. 6. Overpriced food. For 12 dollars tempura I expects more than just 1 sweet potato, 1 broccoli, 1 small mushroom, 1 tiny slice of pumpkin, and 2 slices of bell peppers! Like seriously?

This is a gem. We ordered sushi pizza, aburi, and neo tokyo rolls! Every dish we ordered was surprisingly good. Unagi was used in sushi pizza, the texture of the rice and the ingredients on top were quite compatible. Each aburi sushi is quite unique. The rolls flavor is novative and well balanced. Definetely worth driving there.

I took out my mom hoping to have some good sushi When we got our order and started eating, we quickly decided to leave. These were the worst sushi i ever had in my life. Calamari was over fried, shrimp tempura was so so oily you could taste the oil. The rolls were huge - mostly filled with rice. It was honestly such a bad experience I dont remember the last time I had bad sushi and Ive been eating sushi for many years. This was bad. Very bad.

Ordered from here on Uber. Was disappointed, sashimi salmon cuts had skin all over them. Never seen that before. Disappointing quality. Also no utensils supplied as requested. No Wasabi or ginger came with platter order, also a first. Small things like this can ruin an experience, do better!

Great sushi......BUT a) you have to call them literally 15x in order for them to finally pick up the phone (and thats IF they pick up at all which happens often) and b) expect to wait up to 1.5 to 2 hours for your order to be ready. Absolutely ridiculous...hire more people to accommodate the demand. Enough is enough...time to find another sushi place. Dont bother with Minami.

We ve been coming here ever since they opened, for dine in and also takeout. We ve noticed their quality slightly decreased but not too much. The trays and combos are all good. Hope they continue to offer consistent quality foods that matches up to their pricing.

I was fortunate to have visited Minami once again in mid-December, and have consequently restored my rating to the full 5 stars. I was able to speak to the woman who has been the manager of the restaurant since its opening when I lived in Aurora. She was very much aware of the issue with the preparation of the rice, and assured me that this had been rectified. And indeed it has been. I was told that the rice was the same as ever, but that a new chef needed more training to prepare it properly. The sushi is once again exceptional. October revision: I have to reduce the rating for Minami Sushi in Aurora as a result of two recent meals on a visit back from Montreal back to Aurora in late October 2022. The big problem, in my opinion, is that the management seems to have given up on the one crucial factor that made this an exceptional sushi experience: the rice. It seems that for whatever reason, they are using a lesser quality (quite ordinary, really) rice and it doesnt seem to be properly marinated. My dining companion immediately noticed the same problem. The quality and preparation of the rice is everything when it comes to sushi. Everything else is as good and fresh as ever, with restraint in the use of sauces, but the lackluster rice has, in my opinion, reduced Minami to just another good sushi restaurant. It doesnt stand out any more. Was this an economy measure? If so, misguided. The prices here are still reasonable for the general quality and the portion size, so an extra dollar or two here and there to maintain exceptional quality would be a more sensible approach. Or even offer properly marinated sushi rice at a small premium. I would more than gladly pay. I will likely be visiting Aurora again in early December, so I look forward to another attempt to get truly superior sushi, if the management reads this review and takes it seriously. Previous Review: Its easy to get jaded about sushi in Aurora. There are many good to excellent sushi restaurants to choose from. I think Minami Sushi is more than excellent, it is exceptional! I moved from Aurora to Montreal two years ago. I have tried all the Best in Montreal sushi restaurants and they range from mediocre to truly horrible. It seems nobody in Montreal even knows what sushi is. This is surprising since almost every other kind of food here is wonderful. But this has put into perspective for me how extraordinarily good Minami Sushi is. In the interim, I have even spent time in Tokyo and other cities in Japan, and Minami Sushi is as good as anything I tried there. I recently had occasion to visit Aurora, and of course my first stop was lunch at Minami. If anything the sushi is even better than I remember it. Since I moved, Minami has opened a take-out kitchen in Newmarket, and its offerings are just as good as at the original location. No mean feat during the disruptions of the pandemic. Why is Minami so good? I think there are several reasons. Most important is their attitude to the rice. The word sushi actually means sour rice. Minami takes great care to source high quality sushi rice and then marinates it correctly. With an excellent base, one can make great sushi with almost any fresh topping (I have had some amazingly good maki and nigiri made with good quality, properly marinated rice and canned ham.) The second reason for Minamis excellence is the freshness of the fish and other ingredients. They also dont rely on heavy application of sauces, letting the flavour of the ingredients speak for themselves. The sauces and garnishes are excellent, but tend to be light and applied with restraint. Third is the obvious pride taken in careful preparation and presentation. They currently offer only take-out service, but the presentation even in the plastic and foam containers was meticulous and pleasing to the eye at both locations. The portions are generous, so although Minami isnt the cheapest in town, one gets excellent value for money even if only the portion size is considered. Factor in the quality and the food here is a bargain
