State & Main in Aurora

Went out for dinner with friends and had a nice time. We ordered a few appetizers and they were delicious (the dumplings and Brussel sprouts). I had the sirloin steak dinner and it was good. Unfortunately the server wasnt very attentive and rarely came to check on the table or refill drinks. We ended dinner with the chocolate brownie which was amazing! The restaurant appeared very clean, but again, the staff couldve been more attentive especially when we ordered so much.

We celebrate my daughters birthday, services was exceptional food was awesome, the server Giuila, very pleasant and provided very good service, that made our evening memorable.

We were there with friends and after period time we are waiting to pay our bill but the server was now were to be found and the hostess comes over to tell us we need to leave as people are waiting for the table Tuesday December 17-2024. If you want access to the table then provide better and more efficient service. The service here has gone downhill but food quality has improved from the last time I was there. Parking: Lots of free parking.

Wife and I came on a date night.first time customers. Greeted and seated nicely. Food and drinks arrived quickly. Steak was just ok...charred but ok. Heres where it got uncomfortable hedging on rude for us . While paying the bill , The server commented on how low the bill was (2apps 2 entress 2 alcoholic drinks) good news right? No again She didnt like the fact that since there was no HST her tip would be lower. Wow. Quite the audacious comment. I wont be returning on that fact alone.

Well gave this pace one more chance. That was an epic fail! Ordered beef dip and enchiladas. Im literally 3 minutes up the street. I was told 15 minute pick up. Was there exactly 15 minutes. Drove the 3 minutes home only to find the food stone cold! The enchiladas basically empty. Steer clear of this place! Dont waste your hard earnings on sub par food. I called and spoke to a female as no management were on site and was told its impossible my food was cold lol ok talk about adding insult to injury. NEVER AGAIN Ordered the rigatoni for take out today. Was the worst dish of pasta I have ever had!!!!!! Absolutely zero sauce! Was the driest pasta ever! I have had issues there b4 with food but now Im done!!!!! Never ever again! Dont waste your money here!

Hosted our companys Christmas party here on December 10th and was truly happy with the outstanding service and food quality. We will be back next week for our client appreciation event

Went on Saturday night for a bite and drinks. The food was enjoyable, zero complaints there. However, between my girlfriend and I sitting down to about 3/4 through our meal we were checked in on our meal once. Finished my drink before the meal came and was watching my server have a 10-15 minuet conversation with 2 people she knew 15 feet away. You re there to work, not to have a social interaction. I had to go to the bar and order my own drink at that point. I m a big believer in tipping and when I see making your customers a priority, it reflects the on the bill. She was very kind and well mannered, however I felt as though our time was wasted that night.

I love this place, for lunch, dinner, or a quiet drink with a friend in the evening. Our server Erica, was amazing - efficient and friendly!

Excellent food . My personal favourite- Bang Bang Shrimp Shrimp . Great service and the GM is very friendly, pleasant, and accommodating. Will definitely go back. Parking: No issues with parking. Lot is also right in front of the restaurant. Kid-friendliness: Very good kid menu. Satisfied with portion. GM of restaurant acknowledged the kids. Kids were very happy with the food/place.

As I came into the bar area to sit, I was eventually acknowledged by the young woman (brunette) behind the bar. With an unsmiling face, she made eye-contact, but still waited a long time before coming to greet me. This has happened several times before, and so I expected it. Anyway, to summarize, she eventually asked what I wanted, then after I received it, she never checked in on how it was.. So after I enjoyed the beverage, I walked up to the bar to order another one, and another time to ask for a water refill. (Never checked in to ask how it was, or if I changed my mind and wanted food too). Eventually I did the same walk up to ask for the bill. This level of rudeness and complete disregard for being a waitress/bartender is really pointless. I will not be returning. Some of the other staff are lovely, but I dont want to experience service like this again. It is not worth it.

After a long day at work came out for a friend 40 th birthday. New food menu came out and our waitress Lucy was on par with the food she recommend ! Stake was done perfect. Very quick with our drink service. Service served with a smile . Made our night very enjoyable. My favourite dinning restaurant in Aurora!

I ve come here many times as we used to like it but the last few times have not been enjoyable. We came tonight and waited over 10 minutes just for someone to come say hello. It was very obvious who our server was and she wouldn t even look in our direction (it also was not busy). After going to the hostess to let her know no one had come over, someone else finally came and said she would just take us because our original server can t and doesn t want us to wait any longer. Our drinks came fairly quickly after that but sadly both our meals came out very cold. The server ended up taking off a round of drinks which we appreciated but I don t think we ll be coming back anymore

The quality of the food here is incredible. The food is delicious and all tastes like its made from scratch. We had the pretzels and beer cheese, shrimp and truffle rigatoni and the Bangkok noodle bowl. Everything was outstanding from the food to the service and the experience.

The negative thing is, it is extremely dark in the dining room. You can barely see anything. It s like a bat cave in there.

I took my husband here for his birthday last Friday. We have come to State and Main many times and have loved it in the past. We came in smiling and the hostess didn t even greet us. She didn t make eye contact either. She showed us to our table without acknowledging our existence. Then our server came and took our orders. She also didn t smile once or make any effort. It looked like she really didn t want to be there. We had to ask her to fill our waters. We felt very unwelcome. I ve never had such terrible service. We were so upset with the experience. We will not be coming back, which is unfortunate because we live around the corner.

Always a good meal for a decent price. The only issue was the hostess. As we entered she just looked at her phone and when we said hi she looked at us like we were interrupting her. Server was awesome

I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND That was the first time I went to this Resturant. Food wasn t good. I ordered medium well done stake for my daughter but the meet was raw. Butter chicken drawn with rice. The worth part was paying the tip. The waitress chose %18 in front of my eyes and gave the machine for payment . You don t have any other choice as a customer. When I complained about this unprofessional behaviour they told me you are a big group so you have to pay, while we were two families with 2 kids each and they even didn t accept to change the table together for us. So our kids sat separated from their parents. We paid 2 different bills. So just imagine they took $45 just as a tip.

Unfortunately, our experience was marred by an exceptionally rude server. From the moment we sat down, it was clear that our presence was more of an inconvenience than anything else. Viktoriya had an excessively rude tone and was curt and dismissive. Simple questions about the menu were met with eye rolls and sighs, as if we were being a bother by even asking. Throughout the evening, her attitude didnt improve. Even refilling our water seemed like a chore for her. The biggest issue happened when we went to pay for our meal and let her know that we had an online gift card. In the most rude and condescending tone possible she repeatedly told us we would need to show her a barcode for her to scan. This was despite us explaining that we had used this same payment method before with no issues at this location. It was evident she was just too lazy to punch in the numbers and was refusing to try. She even got to a point of raising her voice at us while being incredibly condescending. Im still absolutely in shock at how poor the service was and how this person feels it is okay to treat others this way. Its a shame because the food is usually good, but the service completely overshadowed what could have been a pleasant dining experience. Dining out is not just about the food its about the entire experience, and sadly, this one was ruined by an incredibly rude server. As someone who has worked in the service industry for years I get it, it s a tough job. However, this server should not be in direct contact with customers. I hope the management addresses this issue because no matter how good the food is, poor service will drive customers away. Based on this experience, I cant recommend this location until they make some serious changes to their service staff.

State and Main Aurora is my favourite restaurant in Aurora. Their staff is always friendly, and always ensures that you are having a positive experience with them. Ive tried almost everything on the menu, and I can confidently say you cant go wrong with anything. Also, love their seasonal drinks. Yum! I also like their delicate atmosphere where you can actually have conversations with your friends. Its definitely your local family restaurant that gives you the fuzzies.

I usually don t review restaurants because tastes vary so much, but I have to make an exception for this place. The food here is simply outstanding. The dill fries are a standout, and even though I m not a fan of dill and usually avoid, these fries and their dip are irresistible. Eric and the staff are consistently friendly, and the atmosphere is pleasant. It s not overly noisy like some places, and the seating isn t cramped. Even when the restaurant is busy, there s still space to move, and you can hear your table companions clearly. As someone who has trouble hearing at my age, I really appreciate this. You should definitely give it a try at least once.

Love State & Main Aurora!!! I love their Bang Bang Shrimp, Fried Calamari, and their new Miso Sake Black Cod (highly recommend). Their summer drink menu is also great, especially the prickly pear Margarita. The staff there are attentive and friendly, adding to the overall dining experience. They are knowledgeable about the menu and quick to offer recommendations :) Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options as well as gluten free options. Dietary restrictions: Dairy free options available. Kid-friendliness: Have highchairs available, CLEAN highchairs. One of the few restaurants with non sticky highchairs. They have a kids menu. Wheelchair accessibility: This restaurant is wheelchair accessible.

I also remember during the pandemic, they would leave food themed jokes in the takeout bag. Glad theyre still here. Would visit again when Im in the area.

Had a wonderful anniversary dinner at State & Main. The food along with the atmosphere was great, but our hostess Amanda was the cherry on top to this lovely evening. She greeted us at the door with a smile and congratulated us, Amanda quickly found us a table and gave us excellent recommendations on the menu. I look forward to eating here again!

Enjoyed a pleasant dinner with party of five. The starter of soft pretzels and cheese dip was my favourite part of the meal. Our salad was delicious. Our main course selections of chicken club, Mac and cheese, and Pacific Rim Noodle Bowl were all very good. I recommend State and Main for a decent meal served in a timely fashion.

Absolutely amazing experience, was particularly delighted by hostess Amanda. From the moment I walked in, she greeted me with a warm, genuine smile that immediately made me feel welcome. We were a larger group and walked in unexpectedly without a reservation, however, Amanda handled the situation by quickly arranging a table for us while ensuring that other guests were not inconvenienced. In addition, Amanda was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, she provided excellent recommendations. The service itself was also fantastic, along with the food. I look forward to my next visit!

I recently visited this location and I must say that the service is excellent. I sat at the bar and was immediately greeted by my server, Emma. From that point on, I was being checked on every few minutes and brought whatever I requested in a very timely manner. Being a local resident, I have been here a couple of times with friends for drinks, and I have never seen a server with a better beer pour than Emma perfect every time!

I went to State & Main in Aurora, tonight. It was a very pleasant and enjoyable experience. I kept it low-key because I already ate somewhere before, but my lovely server, Colleen, recommended I try the bacon tomato soup, with grilled cheese on the side! It went together like Sonny and Cher, Peanut Hutter and Jam, and Salt N Pepa. I had a fun time with the soup, and Im not even a soup guy. Bro, let me tell you about Colleen. Im a huge Colleen guy! Very sweet and pleasant server with a nice smile, and a friendly personality. Its not my first time here, and it wont be my last. Its just tomato soup, right? No, absolutely wrong. Its tomato soup with bacon, and also some grilled cheese. This is probably one of the best days of May so far. I was so impressed that I ran to my car to write a positive review right away Anyway, before this frags on too long, (*drags*), thank you State & Main for the foods and drinks, and further gratitude to Colleen, for being so pleasant and professional. It was a wonderful half hour

Our hockey team goes here almost every night after games for one reason, Colleen! Fantastic personal service and isnt afraid to chirp or razz us. Food is pretty good as well.

It was very intriguing how efficient your weight staff is , Colleen (my server) was an absolute machine serving so many customers at once in a fast and efficient manner no need to flag her down. She was on it. and her smile came from 15 feet away!!! What a nice experience

We were there for mothers Day, it was very busy but the service was great, the food was amazing, we really enjoyed the ambiance. This was the second time visiting the restaurant and I must say the food was delicious as usual. We wanted to try a new location because getting to the one in Vaughan is sometimes difficult and can I say that from the moment we walked in, we received nothing but attitude from the hostess. She walked us to the bar area, where she wanted to sit us at a high top table, her expectation was for my 6 yr old to sit up there. I explained when I made the reservation that I had requested standard seating and she proceeded to explain to me that the bar tables are considered standard. I would never request bar seating with a 6 yr old. At which point she proceeded to tell me she had 1 booth available (keep in mind the restaurant was empty and ALL booths were available ) and that we had to hurry up and eat as she had people coming for the booth at 7pm keep in mind we were there at 5:30pm. The server was okay; friendly. The hostess was rude. The food was okay; our steaks were cold. The children s menu sucks; limited options. Overall, don t waste your time with this location- we will be returning back to Vaughan!

1st time there. Had the Cajun chicken. The dish was very tasteful and the chicken was cooked just right. I don t like dried out chicken. The asparagus was very tender as well. Definitely would patronize again.

What is with this location? Tried it a few times now and every time time it seems like the most chaotic place ever run. Ordered drinks and an appetizer and somehow the food came before the drinks. Great server, but incredibly slow bar. Ordered a second round of drinks and food. The food came, we ate the food, the table was cleared, and still no drinks. Then 1 of the two drinks finally arrives after 20 minutes. Where s the other? Lost in the mix. We ask to cancel and get the bill and then another 15 minutes or so and finally the drink arrives. Crazy part. This isn t the first time having this experience at this location.

Started coming to State and Main in Aurora back in November. Food is very good, atmosphere is friendly and service is great , especially Colleen awesome service and friendly staff.

My girlfriend was a little picky with her drink choice but the waitress and manager were awesome and replaced it with a drink she knew she would like. Great place for a relaxing lunch!

We visited the Aurora Location on April 5th for my daughters sweet 16 birthday. The service was outstanding! Our server, Lucy, was super friendly and attentive. The atmosphere of the restaurant is always warm and inviting, with good vibes all around. We ordered some amazing apps (Bang Bang Shrimp, Pretzels & flatbread) and our mains were steak, salmon, fish tacos, burger and bangkok bowl. Everything was absolutely perfect! Our kids were very satisfied with taste and portion size. The manager, Eric, visited our table a few times to check on us. We could not have asked for a better experience and we will be back very soon!

Sat down and had a couple drinks for Easter very inviting atmosphere the selection of beers they have on tap are delicious. And theyre open on holidays so I really really enjoy this place.

A sat, last minute, dinner w friends. I must say ... great great great. Had the fish tacos. Mmm... then fish and chips and salad. Both great. I also had a Ceasars salad. Well, that I will not order again. Sauce tasted like craft sauce. But everything else was really good. The server was professional, knowledgeable and very helpful w all substitutions we asked for. I will go back again

Food is okay, seems a bit safe, not exciting not bad. However, the service and environment is great.

Very beautiful interior design, with a friendly ambiance. The food was quite fun, as I crushed my calamari with great gluttony (I had two burgers and fried just an hour before from a burger place). The services was lovely Herr, and the waitress is a volleyball player with quite charming hair. Curly, even from the day before! I highly recommend the calamari or sweet potato fries. My friend had the steak, and he seemed to enjoy it quite a bit, as well. The rest of the patrons are far more attractive and elegant than him and I, yet they pass no negative judgment towards us. What an excellent place! PS: The wait staff is charismatic and beautiful, and perhaps one of the most handsome men in the world works here. Some tall Mediterranean looking muscleman. Im writing this review as I sit at the table, and I must say, one of the greatest evenings of 2024, so far. Thanks State & Main! PS again: Our servers name is Britney, and she is very sweet. Original Review: Went to dinner on a Tuesday night with the family. 4 meals. The kid s meal cheese pizza was ok. The teriyaki bowl my daughter had was good. Now, as for their steak salad, did not look appetizing, very plain. Not worth the price. I ordered the bison burger. Had to return it twice. Once the entire meal came out cold. The second time, they forgot to remove the onions and tomato as specified and only had 3 crumbs of bacon. Very disappointed. Waitress was polite and apologetic, but will not be returning anytime soon. Menu is very limited and prices are high.

Delicious vegan and vegetarian options. Vegetarian options: The can substitute plant based protein into most dishes. My favourite is the lettuce dragon boats. I could eat those all day long Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options are available.

It s a good place and I give it 4 stars but I give the Chicken Wings for $18.00 a rip. I give the wings for their size a 1. I received 8 pieces. 4 were the drumstick part of the wing which were the size of a small thumb. The wing part were the size of my baby finger. The service was great, beer was cold. Anyway 3 beers and a really tiny order of wings and fries was $46.00 plus $10. tip. Come on. get some wings with some meat on them.

Whenever I find myself in Aurora, I always make time to have lunch at this State & Main location. The reasons are very simple - great food and outstanding service. And consistency - supremely excellent and does not vary from year to year. Today, I and my companion had the pleasure of being served by Rebecca. She was outstanding - friendly, helpful, flexible, efficient, and courteous. And I commended Eric (the General Manager) on his restaurant and staff. He and his staff operate as a true team, operating together to provide the customer with the best possible experience. Thus, it goes without saying that I will continue to return and enjoy the exemplary food and service.

Worst chicken sandwich I ever had.

We ve only dine here once and I just love the atmosphere! This become one of our favourite place for food delivery when you just need a break from home cooking! Quite tasty and satisfying!

My first time was very good there and it was very good the service was amazing and the girl who was serving us was so nice and sweet. The food was really good we all enjoyed it, I just wish the portions were a bit bigger on the pasta. And maybe just more lighting in the restaurant and would give it a 5/5 but overall would recommend you should go there for date,fun,family,and birthdays

I came here last week, had a glass of wine and ordered a meal to go. It was the 9 ounce sirloin and came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. I like my steak done medium rare and it did not disappoint. Even heated a little in the microwave it was delicious and it was cooked perfectly. I would recommend State & Main in Aurora to anyone. Whenever I come, which is often the staff are friendly and the food is fresh and cooked perfectly. Thanks to everyone at State & Main Aurora

Excellent service and food! The ambiance is nice. They have lots of indoor seating and a patio as well. It wasnt too busy when we went for lunch but evenings are busier. Our food and drinks were great Fish tacos were one of the best Ive had. The rigatoni was delicious as well. Kids liked their food from the kids menu as well. (Drinks and Dessert isnt included in the kids menu as a combo but its all decent price so add on what you order)

My first time at any State & Main, the food and service was excellent. I had half price wings made the way I wanted, that wasnt even mentioned on the menu. Annie was my server and was very friendly and kept my drinks coming, from a great beer selection I might add. I highly expect to return in the future and hopefully will get seated in Annies section again, highly recommended.

The food was alright, not that great but we ate. The service was terrible! Our server was not bothered to check in with us, the hostess we managed to see and ask for assistance said she would get our server, never did. Was very obvious that other tables were getting spoken to and interacted with by one of the ladies who we assumed may have been a manager of sorts, did not glance in our direction once.

State & Main Aurora with Eric and his staff has over performed yet again for our F45 Aurora South Challenge Social! The food is amazing, the cadence at which they serve it is perfect and the staff are super attentive, as well as the space we get to use is just far enough away from the bustling restaurant that it gives us our own space to present our awards and prizes without disrupting the entire place! 2nd time choosing this spot and absolutely no regrets! The price is right as well for so much food (apps flowing for over 2 hours) and drink prices are very reasonable as well! Very happy this location is located in our Neighbouring plaza. Super convenient!

One of the best beef dips I have ever had! Gave the atmosphere a 4 because it was uncomfortably cold when we were there.

Great place for lunch...ordered the veggie burger and the overall quality was terrific. The interior lighting could be improved a bit.

I had a wonderful lunch experience at State & Main in Aurora today. Delicious food and an excellent server! I couldnt have asked for a better time with good friends. We will be returning for sure!

This restaurant used to be a go-to for date night or girls night out. However, last night, the food wasnt near as good as it used to be. The pretzel appetizer was extremely dry, and the accompanying cheese dipping sauce was barely full enough to be sufficient for the amount of pretzels that were in the dish. The side of fries was a much smaller amount that used to be served, and they werent fresh. Although the service was good overall, we definitely felt rushed despite having told our server that we were going to stay a while. Too bad, because this experience means we likely wont be back to this establishment.
