Worldly food with a touch of dutch. From sweet to savoury we craft homemade foods from scratch made with love. Dine-In Restaurant and In-Store Shopping Available.
Sweet Dutch’s in Aurora is hands down the best brunch spot! I wish I had discovered it earlier. The food is absolutely delicious and out of this world, and the service is amazing. I’ll definitely be coming back!
I was craving a good coffee. I ordered a flat white. The waitress didn’t ask any questions, so I assumed I’d get one. But it was just an ordinary coffee. And the pastries choices were just okay, not enticing. The place itself is nice though, and there’s a great shop with European goods too.
We are passing by Aurora and my wife found this amazing place. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere is great as well even though the space is limited. We can't wait to come back to have brunch.
Eating breakfast on their beautiful little patio feels like you’re nestled in a little European town. It’s like the best kept secret in Aurora! The food was delicious. And of course we had to stop in their little store on the way out to get some Dutch treats and some ready made food items to take home.
We have ordered a crab croquettes, a Chicken Cheese fondue and Rabbit Ragu Al Bianco. The Chicken and the crab croquettes are ok. The chicken also comes with a Baguette and Apple Fennel Salad. However, the Rabbit Ragu is soggy and salty with the potato Gnocchi. We have told the waitress; but there is no response from the chef or the owner. I am disappointed by such qaulity and service even after reading many good reviews in the Google Map. Maybe their breakfast is good. Fir dinner, we do not recommend.
4.5/5 ✨ A charming little restaurant nestled in the St. Andrew’s plaza in Aurora ✨ Featuring a different menu/ country’s cuisine every Friday night, we decided to dine here on Moroccan night🇲🇦🍽️ What we ordered: 👉🏼 Roasted cherry 🍅 bruschetta 👉🏼 Marrakkesh 🐑 shanks 👉🏼 Shakshuku style halibut 🐟 👉🏼 Vanilla caramel affogato 💣 👉🏼 Warm decadent flourless choc cake Everything was fresh and delicious and came out within a reasonable time frame. Our server was very warm and friendly and the owner is super kind too! ☺️ This establishment also allows you to bring your own bottle of wine (w. corking fee) which is always nice 🍷👌🏽And not to mention this place makes a mean cappuccino! ☕️ Like, proper 💯 Can’t wait to come back on a weekend for brunch! 🍳🥞 Thank you 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Adorable hidden gem. The entrance takes you into their little grocery store, which seems to have possibly imported high quality food items. Through the grocery store and down a short hallway you have the dinimg area, which has cute cottage core aesthetic. The food is amazing, the bread especially. I ordered the sweet duchess breakfast. Everything was brought out quickly and at a really good price point.
Nice little brunch joint to have uptown. The atmosphere is nice, bright, and modern. Food - I find the crab cake Benedict a bit underwhelming, there was way too much filler than crab in the crab cake and there wasn’t a generous amount of hollandaise sauce. The Dutch pancake was overly sweet, had to change to another dish. The shakshuka can come with a little more pita. Their baked goods are delicious, I especially liked the blueberry danish. Service - the servers are young and inexperienced but they are pleasant and easy to the eye. That’s probably why I didn’t complain when we asked for water for the table 4 times and still didn’t get any until after our meal when we asked for a fifth time. I find the reservation process a bit dated and inconvenient as they do not have online reservations. Nonetheless, this uptown brunch joint is worth a try.
Omg! The food so so so good! A great indulgence treat!
Disappointing Experience at Sweet Dutchess I had high hopes for Sweet Dutchess, but unfortunately, it did not live up to the hype. The cookies were incredibly dry and lacked the rich, buttery flavor you d expect from a bakery of this caliber. Instead, they tasted bland and uninspired, as if they had been made with cheap substitutes. To make matters worse, I found a hair in one of the open pastries I purchased. This is simply unacceptable and points to a lack of proper hygiene standards in their kitchen. Overall, the flavors were underwhelming, and the experience left me feeling disappointed. With so many other great bakeries around, I won t be returning to Sweet Dutchess anytime soon.
One of the best lunch stops in Aurora - the sandwiches are out of this world. The Roast Beef Melt and Turkey sandwich being must tries. The service and hospitality is amazing- Rob and Marcia are wonderful. The market has delicious prepared foods, coffee, baked goods and more. A great place to buy a gift for a foodie or to stop in and grab your own staples.
Fabulous cafe style deli restaurant! Incredible in every way! Wonderful people and fantastic food! We had a private function in the private dining area. It was so lovely!
Had the pleasure of stopping at this wonderful gem a few days ago. There is a very warm vibe to the place. Our server, AR was extremely thoughtful and perceptive. In the beginning, I got myself a cake and iced latte from the coffee shop area not knowing that there was an inside dining area as well. When we went to sit there, she kindly took the cake in its plastic box and bought it back on a plate with berries and a dusting of sugar. In terms of food everything we ordered was good. The potato croquettes were exceptional as was the sauce that comes with it.
Lovely cafe with really great food and Amazing staff.
What an absolute gem! Excellent food and great little shop up front.
It defeats the purpose to accept a reusable mug for a coffee and then make the drink in a disposable cup and then put it into the customer s reusable cup. It would be great if there would be another way to help reduce waste. Otherwise, coffee was hot and decent. Staff were kind.
Lovely Dutch restaurant we went for lunch and it was a really interesting menu
What a gem! Great service and excellent food. Will definitely be back!
Sweet Dutchess is relatively new to Aurora, went there for brunch on a lovely fall day. The welcoming was pretty nice from the host who asked if we had a reservation (you will need one as the place is somewhat small) we did not but the accommodated fast. The menu is nice and simple, we had a salmon croissant, poached eggs with spinach and mushrooms on a bed of toast and Shatsuka. The last one was nothing so spectacular but the salmon croissant and the eggs were really tasty and fresh. The atmosphere is really cute and cozy and you can sit outside. The service was quite disappointing, our server missed several things from what we needed, forgot to bring water and just was not into making the serving experience a good one for us. One of the other servers when asked to please bring us water, gave me a really nasty passive aggressive look and... she did not bring the water herself asking somebody else to bring it for us. I have lived in Aurora for more than 20 years. I am a visible minority and never ever, have I had a problem with people making faces at us or mistreating us but there was unfortunately something about the service here that my family and I did not feel comfortable with, almost a bit snobbish; too bad since I am not going to be returning here to give them my business and I will not recommend it either. Watch management, with a restaurant you NEED excellent friendly service otherwise no matter how good the food is, people will not come back. Its really sad as we initially thought we had finally found our weekend breakfast place.
If you re a food enthusiast or simply someone who values top-notch ingredients and delightful flavors, Sweet Dutchess Kitchen is a must-visit destination that promises to impress. This charming grocery store and restaurant offers a fantastic array of gourmet products and delicious dishes, making it a standout choice for both everyday needs and special culinary occasions. One of Sweet Dutchess Kitchen s standout features is its impressive range of specialty items. The restaurant side of Sweet Dutchess Kitchen is equally exceptional, with a menu that blends classic comfort foods with creative culinary delights. Each dish is prepared with the same dedication to quality and flavor as the store s products, resulting in a dining experience that is both satisfying and memorable. From hearty salads and fresh sandwiches to inventive entrees and delectable desserts, every menu item showcases the restaurant s commitment to excellence.
It would have been nice if you guys changed the google map hour as well.... Visited the cafe as the google map mentioned its open but only to find out they are closed. Later found out the website mentions about closing but most of the people find out you guys are closed or not first by the google map. Looking forward to visit next time.
Breakfast was great - tasted really good and its definitely good quality ingredients. Staff was very welcoming, ambience is nice, the restaurant was pretty much full for breakfast. Its a little pricey. Overall a very good experience. Would love to go back to try their lunch.
My husband really wanted to try this place so I followed suit. As much as I wanted to say I loved this cafe, it just wasnt worth the wait. While ingredients were fresh, the flavour was lackluster. My espresso had more flavour than the 3 dishes we ordered combined (Dutch baby, Italian sausage dish and Hair of The Dog). Our server (forgot his name, but blonde short hair) was 5/5 stars. The older male working at the front/market part cannot handle stress and will make it known. Overall service from entering, table seating and paying 4/5. Its a cute small cafe with a small shopping area. Im glad we got try it at least.
Went for brunch, food was very tasty and service was great and very thoughtful.
Cute little hidden gem brunch spot in Aurora. Food was exceptional. Mimosas were a little on the weak side. Bread pudding french toast was really good.
Great food, great people, awesome atmosphere.
What an amazing little lunch destination. Looked up restaurants in Aurora and found this gem. Was not disappointed. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was welcoming and the service was definitely 5 star. A big thanks to our server Liam who made our visit even more enjoyable.
It was my first time going here. I went for Brunch. The food was really good. Service was very pleasant and fast. Its a really nice breakfast place for the Aurora/Newmarket area. I havent found a breakfast place I like as much as Sweet Dutchess. Will be back again for sure.
What a gem!
Pretty place with a vast selection of European products for sale, plus fresh baked goods. We waited a very long time for our lunch due to a computer glitch with our order. I ordered a Monte Cristo. It was just okay, rather skimpy and bland, unfortunately. The potato croquettes were very tasty, though. We were impressed with the retail selection, but not sure if I would order another sandwich here.
Amazing breakfast! A bit pricey but still worth it! The bacon was delicious and crispy. Will be coming back! There was a bit of wait since it was busy but all the dishes came together at once.
Everything was excellent. Ate too much, slipped into a food coma and girlfriend had to drive me home
The most unpleasant and disappointing experience. Rude staff and terrible service. Waited 25 minutes for our table only to be told that we could not be served breakfast. Left a terrible impression and was given attitude by the man behind the bar when we then chose to leave. Being rude to unhappy customers is no way to go about business. Do better, will NOT be returning.
I want to be fair and kind as possible especially when it comes to restaurants that are run by passionate and involved people. My boyfriend and I came in without a reservation or calling the restaurant to see if they would be able to accommodate a table for two, but we were looking to get a table outside despite the gloomy weather (we knew there would be a break in the rain). When we entered the restaurant we were greeted by a man that I believe could have been the owner of the restaurant, he informed us that he was going to check if there was a table available, We suggested that we could sit outside on the side of the patio overlooking the parking lot. He expressed concern for the potential rain but we expressed we really wanted to sit outside, so immediately he stopped what he was doing to go set up a table (Thank you for stopping what you were doing to set us up a table, I know you were in the middle of doing something, this action of yours did not go unnoticed; Thank you). However the table that was set up for us was at the opposite end of patio, we didn t want to make a fuss as we appreciated that the individual went out of his way to clear a table, prepare a umbrella for us, etc. We sat down and realized we weren t given a menu or drink list, so we sat and waited for a waiter/waitress. For a moment we feared that we had been forgotten, but our waiter quickly came out and realized we had no menus, He apologized and quickly ran inside and brought us the menus, took our drink orders and then our meal orders. My boyfriend had some sort of coffee - oh my goodness it was delicious, I had the roast beef dip sandwich, My boyfriend had some sort of croquet sandwich I believe. Prices were fair considering the dedication of the dishes, and the sizes were huge! We paid the bill and went home and were so full from lunch by them time dinner hour came! The store portion of the restaurant is beautiful, I love it. I was very tempted in splurging on all the goodies that were available for purchase. I think any food-lover would love this restaurant and the store. I appreciate (whom I believe was the owner) the man who made an effort to setting up an outdoor table for us. I could tell he was concerned about potential rain, and he was clearly involved in working with his team, I appreciated when he checked in on us about our meals. He was attentive to us considering how busy the restaurant was, which was very kind considering we had not made reservations. I m happy I got to have lunch here and I will come again (with reservations of course), This place would be perfect for couples wanting to go out for lunch to celebrate anniversaries.
The staff is nothing but friendly and the food is outstanding, brunch is a must!
Baby Dutch Special is to die for.
Had a late breakfast with my son here today. The food was nice, the coffee was cold, the waitress couldnt answer what was on our plate, not familiar with the menu and it was very cold inside. Otherwise it is a cute little cafe.
Came here for breakfast while waiting for a vehicle to be serviced. Food was well made with quality ingredients. Service was excellent, and the decor was really nice. I ll definitely be back in the future. I highly recommend stopping in at the Seeet Duchess if you re in the area.
Just a great place, great food and great staff. Cool store with interesting and eclectic products (many are Dutch). The food though was outstanding.
Quality was good but quantity Recommend to order two/three dishes for one person Food
Excellent Sunday brunch. Good food, good selection, service was great, and coffee is individually made. Will go back. Great little food shop as well. Make a reso for brunch. Very popular.
The sandwich was lovely, the mocktail was divine!
The breakfast is a bit too salty. The coffee tastes watery... Food
Great little spot here good food relaxing and chill vibes
Great place with amazing food.
A taste of Europe in Aurora Staff are super friendly. The food is amazing. You can taste the quality of ingredients with every bit Food : 5/5
Super cute restaurant! Love the vibe
Don t go if you are hungry, eat before go because it takes at least 1-1:30 hours to have your food It is ridiculous Service
This Sunday brunch experience was like dining in an European cafe without getting on a plane! The breakfast entrees were mouth-watering delicious and possibly the BEST Eggs Benny I have ever had. Homemade hollandaise sauce was amazing! The atmosphere is quaint and intimate and the noises of the open kitchen are warm and inviting! We will definitely will be back. Great Job and Well-Done to Marcia and Rob!!!!! So happy to have found your little piece of heaven!! Grace & Darrell Dodds
Good food, kind and nice staffs and pretty place for brunch! We really enjoyed not only food also time there. The thick bacon was delicious and french toast was not too sweet just right for brunch! Highly recommend
Staff are friendly, and the food is delicious! A real gem in Aurora!
Very good breakfast spot with a great ambiance and awesome staff. Lots of seating and a cool little store attached to it.
I just stopped for coffee and croissant but definitely will be back for more. This place is so cozy , it smells good and my coffee and croissant were excellent. Service was very caring and smiling . Don t forget to stop at the their store , you will find lots of delicious treats there. This place remind me of Europe.
Will definitely come back!!
The second time here in this week. There are a few tables on nice patio . It s a good choice to enjoy food there. I love cream burley, dog hair is also good!
Celebrated a birthday with Mom and enjoyed a delicious lunch. Helpful and attentive staff, charcuterie board had a wonderful selection of cheeses and the chocolate gelato bomb was worth the calories!
Nice little cafe but the service is like molasses. If you are not in a rush, its worth checking out.
Loved it, the concept, the service and the food are wonderful. My date and I both had the smoked salmon croissant and it was perfect. Its almost impossible to leave without a treasure from the shop as there are so many great products that are either made locally or imported from Europe. Food
Great food
Cute little restaurant & shop with a constantly changing menu. Food was great, service was a bit slow but it was mothers day, the inside was packed, and we were on the patio enjoying the sun, so we werent about to complain . Will be back to try out a new menu for sure!
The cafe there is tasteful and you do get what you paid for. But the food doesnt follow the same rules as the cafe. For the price you pay, it fails to meet those expectations. The sandwich breads are not seasoned enough but the meat and the sauce are the stars of their entrees . We also tried the bruschetta appetizer and that was a great choice. This place is an amazing spot to drink some coffee and get some appetizers and gossip. Quiet and comfortable seating with a little store on the inside.
Great little hidden gem!! You all know Im a coffee/latte crazy person...well this place has THE BEST oat lattes at the best price. The espresso they use is top notch, so smooth. Their treats are fantastic, cookies, brownie, they even have a sit down restaurant for some food if you like. Every Friday they do a dinner where the menu changes weekly..how cool is that??
Always delicious. Welcoming and friendly staff.
Easter lunch fully catered was absolutely delicious and Rob excelled at the level of service and advice he provided. First experience and will definitely be returning! Thank you.
A great hidden gem! We enjoyed the sweet dutchess breakfast which was amazing! Very reasonably priced for the quality and good service. Will be coming here again.
Owner is super friendly and helpful. Love bringing my kids in for a short shop and pick out from the curated items to make a meal. Amazing products you will have a hard time finding elsewhere. Dutch mayo!! The restaurant is amazing. So lucky to have it just down the street
On a weekday at noon, with a reservation - this place was full yet was not loud. We could talk without raising our voices to be heard (a plus!). Service is prompt, friendly and not intrusive, but extremely efficient. The menu is varied and our Veal Schnitzel on Focaccia (with cheese and mushrooms) was very good, and pleasantly presented. There is a store area adjacent to this dining room, and you will find a huge assortment of food items!
Delicious sandwiches and attentive table service. We will be back to experience breakfast/brunch
Love this place Its always a great experience Food is good and the service is fantastic Food : 5/5
Best breakfast place that my wife and I have tried. European vibe, and high quality/fresh ingredients. We try to come back every couple of weeks for breakfast or brunch.
Food and service were delicious. Next time I will need to ask for a stronger coffee as the cappuccino was a bit too milky for my tastes. This is a delightful eatery that I would definately recommend.
I never had anything that I did not like , great place !!
Beautiful spot. Our food was a bit slow in getting to us. I think something happened when our server put in the order but sometimes these things happen. Would love to go back and try the brunch.
Great little place. Small menu. Great store for boutique items. Super friendly people.
Fabulous dining experience!
I ordered the Andrew pannekoek which is a crepe with ham cheese and tomato. After the first few bites I detected a burnt flavour. I flipped it over and it was burnt. I only ate 1/4 and left the rest. The server did not ask during or after the meal if everything was ok, and I indicated that I didn t want to take the rest home with me. Other than that the service was good. The coffee was good and very hot, and the ambiance was nice.
Must try breakfast. What a tasty pork sausage and bacon.
Is there a way to do 10 STARS ? Literally THE BEST PLACE FOR BREAKFAST in Toronto North area. And we ve been to a few places around the area, since my husband and I are both foodies ))) Let me start with the atmosphere! We recently returned from a 3 weeks Euro trip were we admired the food and ambiance of local places and hey, the feeling we got when we stepped in Seret Dutchess is as if we are back on vacay in Europe again, visiting one of it s beautiful coffee shops Then, FOOOOOD oh gosh, as my husband said it hit the right spot! Definitely favourite breakfast place now! It truly did! I had a yogurt parfait and their crepe bacon breakfast and he had option with sausage. And OH MON DIEU! What a delicious meal we had! Fanatic ingredients, wonderfully cooked (not overly) and beautifully presented, kudos to Chef!! Heart in every plate And finally, SERVICE is brilliant, people are warm, kind, smiley, attentive )) I got my toothpicks at the end, a detail, yet a pleasant one ))) THANK YOU and we are planning our next visit
Hats off to the chef(s)! I had the wonderful experience of enjoying several of your dishes this holiday. Delish . Thank you!
Great breakfast/brunch as always! Service is always awesome and one of our fave places to go as a couple, with our kids, and/or friends. Parking: Lots of parking.
Amazing service. Fresh ingredients and well made food. Total gem.
A really nice addition to the Aurora restaurant scene. Food is Dutch fusion. First rate and shareable.
This is such a great find! The service in the cafe was fantastic - our server was very knowledgeable of the menu and the daily specials, and was able to make some great recommendations. Prices were fair for the portion sizes, and they have a nice variety in their food options. Their drink menu was extensive, and they did have other milk options for those wanting caffeinated drinks.
Took my husband out for his Birthday at Sweet Dutchess Kitchen & Café in Aurora!! WOW!! Amazing food and fabulous services. A new menu every Friday. Check it out, you will not be disappointed. Also great place for coffee and catch up with friends.
They are the kindest people and they have great food and great service!
The brunch is so good, and the price is very reasonable.highly recommend!
Excellent all round.
First visit and such a wonderful addition for Aurora - The Sweet Dutchess Kitchen and Cafe. we were given an warm greeting as soo as we entered and made to feel at home while we asked some questions about the range of gourmet foods available. So many that were new to us! We ate breakfast in the spotless and stylish restaurant and fully enjoyed the elegant but hearty choices we made. Best latte had in ages. Afterwards we discovered some of the entrees prepared by the chef that were for sale frozen in the store. Nice selection of Dutch licorice and European pastries and other specialties too. Nothing seemed inconsistent or amiss. So no complaints at all. This young couple know what theyre doing! Dietary restrictions: Has an interesting range of gluten-free products.
Amazing on all fronts.
Went for breakfast this morning. DELICIOUS! Ordered Sweet Dutchess breakfast and Omas Pannekoeken. Super tasty thick cut bacon. Quality ingredients! Beautiful presentation. Friendly staff. Clean. Will definitely return!
Fabulous restaurant. Amazing service, so friendly and joyful. I came in tired and in a rush with a toddler baby and my Mom and we were treated so so well. The food is very well priced for the quality and craftsmanship. Loved the open plan kitchen and the fierce-looking chefs (they mean business). Oftentimes I wonder who cooks my food in other restaurants, whether it is another teenager re-heating Betty Crocker meatballs not here. So lovely to have them in our neighbourhood. When my friends from Holland come to visit, I ll be sure to take them here but not before I visit 20 more times myself :)
Many of my clients have recommended that I check out Sweet Dutchess. Finally my schedule aligned and I was able to make it over. WOW! What have I been missing? The staff was friendly and welcoming (a huge must for me) and they made excellent recommendations on gluten free products, which they have many! I was so thrilled. Bonus for me was I was able to order a chai latte made with real tea and not sugar filled syrup. Double bonus, Rob recommended the best GF pasta I have ever tried in my life. I will now be working my schedule to make sure I can pop in more often. Thanks Sweet Dutchess!
My favourite brunch spot in all of york region! Everything I put in my mouth is delicious. My favourite is their pink mimosas, and their cheese fondue shareables. Perfect for brunch with the girls, or a delicious lunch date! Will be coming back again and again. PS BRING BACK THE FONDUE
What a gem! We went today for brunch and everything was just amazing. The food was delicious and the service friendly and attentive. We ordered from the daily specials (a Brie and mushroom deliciousness and a marvellous Dutch pancake/crepe , strawberry mascarpone, chocolate concoction) and regular menu (French toast and salmon croissant) and everything was perfection. It s a small and cozy dine in area tucked into the back and a shop/take out pastries in the front. The assortment of cheeses, imported goods looked amazing (will definitely be back for some of the baked goods and fresh pastas).
Highly recommend, anything you try in this place is amazing :)
Very nice atmosphere with incredibly friendly staff. Great food for any time of day or craving. Im happy this place has opened up near to me!
I recently visited this lovely location and was blown away by the amazing service and beautiful interior. The cappuccino I had was done to perfection and really hit the spot. However, while the breakfast plate was tasty, I do have a few suggestions for improvement. The bacon was delicious, but the eggs were on the smaller side and the potato balls were a bit dry. Despite this, I would still highly recommend this place for its fantastic location, exceptional service, and overall great experience.
Very friendly service. Got seated right away. The food was fresh, it could use some more seasoning. Overall good!
I had a very nice breakfast with my wife here. Salmon is perfect. Suggest to add some lemon drops which can bring more fresh taste on salmon, also suggest to add vinegar with olive oil on tomatoes salad. Big breakfast set overall good quality. We like their bacon which is crispy and not oily. We heard Friday has a new dinner promotion, Surprise menu, $70 for 5 course, and we decided to come and celebrate my birthday We go with 2 kids, owner shows caring and prepare kids menu for them. For appetizers and dessert, taste and quality is fine but not much surprise. The main dish, braised short ribs is the highlight of this dinner. Tender and juicy, it simply melts in mouth. Mashed potato also very smooth. Service was a bit slow, but I have understanding because it was their first time to handle this event and it was a busy night (nearly full house). I m happy to have my birthday dinner here, but I would prefer to order from menu next time.
This was my first time ever trying Sweet Duchess and I will definitely be back for more! The Prosciutto sandwich was amazing but the Croquettes that it came with were (pecks hand to lips) Chefs kiss- Like so delicious!! Love finding local favourites and this is definitely added to the list! Thank you for the great service as well!! 10/10 recommend Parking: Lots of parking!
Strictly came here for gluten-free food from their front shop. So many unique options for cooking gourmet meals. The owner/manager was so helpful and friendly. He showed me the homemade gnocchi, soups and sauces, crackers and suggested these amazing corn tortilla chips to go with a bean dip I snagged from the cooler section. They also have a bunch spot thats gluten-free as well. I shall return for the brunch but this is a great spot for unique options if you have gluten intolerance. Thanks for the great service! Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free
Great food on mothers day. Kid-friendliness: Very accommodating to 8 month old Food : 4/5 |
Really good!
best rice Krispy squares!
Had breakfast here and the food is super delicious! A great variety and high end. Yummy coffees as well! Will definitely be returning.
Delicious food and great customer service! Highly recommended.
Fantastic place with amazing food and service! The menu is really great and were planning many visits to try it all. Highly recommended!
Fresh, delicious food and great service. Nicely decorated store with unique gifts reminding me of weekends at the cottage. The staff recommends their weekend brunch. Reservations may be made over the phone.
Very yummy food. Everything in this place is put together with taste. Well done.
A bit of an oasis in Newmarket, for a good breakfast. Food was actually way better than the regular industrial-like quality you get from other places, even in comparable priced cafes. I ordered the Hair of Dog, basically eggs, bacon, sausage and toast. Eggs (scrambled) were prepare to perfection. Most cafes overcook scramble eggs, even you request them not to. But here, eggs were great. Bacon and sausage, high quality, not the grocery-store kind of good. Salad, a bit small, but Im OK with it. Coffee was also good. Service was friendly and the place ambiance is good enough, given the location. The only reason I dont give 5 stars is because the coffee is not refillable. For the price range ($30+ per person + tip/TX), Id expect to be offered and served a coffee refull. Still, Id definitely come back. Give it a try. Oh, the fine-food store attached to the cafe has tons of interesting products.
A very nice and cozy place to spend an hour or two with your loved ones while enjoying the food and the lovely atmosphere. They also have a European style shop where we bought some chocolate and kitchen items from.
Excellent shop and restaurant area. Had a lovely brunch on the patio. Staff are extremely friendly, food is excellent and this will be our new go-to place!
You need to drive to Aurora for breakfast here. Literally the best breakfast I ve ever had. They make their own croissant and pain au chocolat in house. Smells like heaven. Potato croquette they serve are incredible too. Also a grocery store with homemade dishes, sauces and treats. So good! Dietary restrictions: Gluten free bread
Very delicious and good quality ingredients!
A perfect European GEM Patio, service, food and coffecare top notch Food
What a hidden gem I found in Aurora! Amazing place with delicious food, yummy cocktails, great atmosphere and service was outstanding! To top it off, it has a great market with some unique and great products. A must try, I will definitely be back!
This place is a hidden gem. 400 was packed due to an accident, so we took the side roads and were looking for a quick breakfast sandwich stop. They dont have a grab and go sandwich on the menu but offered to make two for us. Hands down, was the best breakfast sandwich Ive ever had. Kids had a chocolate croissant and rice crispy square and they raved as well. Making this place a regular stop from now on.
This place has become one of our favorites in no time. We just adore the ambiance, amazing food and heavenly coffee. The attached little shop carries our favorite honey as well. Bonus! @Owners - Please dont change and dont go anywhere!
Good brunch spot, food was good but could use a tad more seasoning, coffee was also slightly watered down. The outdoor patio is nice. Overall an enjoyable experience.
My partner and I love coming to Sweet Dutchess for their Sunday brunch - we ve even driven all the way from Oshawa to get it! The food is always incredible, the staff are kind and attentive and the atmosphere is warm. We love the lattes they make here and often come by just for those! We bring all of our friends so they can try it too. Couldn t recommend it more, a hidden gem.
Sweet little place in Aurora!
Stumbled on Sweet Duchess during our stay in Aurora. After a morning walk, it was a delightful find for a coffee and some breakfast. Returned for lunch with a friend and then again for brunch with family. I enjoyed eating on the patio and was grateful to have good weather. Found the dining room to be very loud. Food was consistently delicious. Service always good. I would not recommend Sweet Duchess as a place for a quick bite. Much more enjoyable to take one s time and not be in a rush.
Lovely patio, great coffee and fabulous food. The brie and apple croissant is amazing
Best brekkie in Aurora! Wonderful real tasty breads and sausage and lovely little Dutch extras like croquettes. Cool market too
So good Even the coffee was excellent , the bread was toasted perfectly, soup was smooth and flavorful, salad was fresh, the combination of cheese, sunflower seeds, fruits, veggies and salmon was perfect It made my day!!!! The staff is lovely too
food here was truly phenomenal, but the staff were extremely rude and gave a lot of attitude to simple questions, would recommend the food but the service was horrible
It is a nice place, but with some buts. We went there for brunch on Sunday around 12:30. The place was full. Two waiters were running around like crazy, the kitchen was working like crazy, and still we were waiting for our food for AN HOUR (first but)! We were actually very hungry when we came, so by the time we got our food, we were starving. On the menu was the option of adding bacon, which we did. Weve got peameal bacon, not the usual bacon, even though it was not specified in the menu (second but). We usually do not like the peameal bacon, but we didn;t want to make any fuss, seeing how crazy busy the poor staff is already. We tried it but (the third but) it was as salty as hell! Pure salt! It was impossible to eat, and we left it practically untouched. My husband ordered a breakfast with some sausages, but (fourth but) the skin on these sausages was so hard that it was practically unchewable. For the desert we ordered a CROISSANT BREAD PUDDING FRENCH TOAST (Served with Maple Bourbon Syrup) but they brought us a regular croissant (the last and the fifth but). Agai, we saw that the kitchen staff and the waiters were really tired, they were most probably understaffed, so we didn;t want to say anything. Needless to say, nevertheless, we were very disappointed. I am sure it is a great place, but it looks like on Sunday afternoon it can hardly deal with the amount of clients and orders.
Simply awesome! Not your usual lunch menu and the owners are very community minded! I plan on making sure others know about their restaurant.
Great experience. The brunch menu, although small, was colorful, tasty, and delicious. Clear glass coffee serving. Open concept kitchen in the back of a boutique store. Downtown feel in the heart of Aurora. Will definitely go back :) Food
We found this little gem today for brunch- thanks to Google. I would highly recommend it, the food was beyond excellent, the ambiance is spectacular. We tried their special Sweet Dutches and Croissant salmon.
We had a very good lunch. Didnt know that we had to make reservations, however we were lucky they had a table for us.
Had an amazing brunch here! Very good food and presentation. Was delighted to find this gem in Aurora.
We came here for lunch on the recommendation of a friend. The food was indeed very delicious and the service was very polite. However, what made us uncomfortable was that as soon as we finished eating, the waiter automatically brought us the bill and put it on the table. We were not in a hurry to check out, but after a while, the machine automatically came to let us check out without our request, which made us feel like we had to leave. But there are still many empty tables in the store, and there are no customers waiting to be seated, so there is really no need for this.
The pannakoek with lemon mascarponne was luscious and bursting with the mascarpone - a real treat!
Dear Rob & Marcia and the Sweet Dutchess Team, Thank you so much for putting together, and delivering our clients Xmas baskets this year. We have received only positive feedback from all the recipients regarding how beautiful the baskets are and how grateful they are. We really appreciate all the follow up and dedication you and your team put into creating these baskets for us. Thank you again and we wish you, Marcia and all the Sweet Dutchess Team a Merry Christmas and healthy Holiday Season. Cheers, Diane & Nick
Loved the cozy cafe atmosphere, their European style breakfast and good service
Delicious Dutch breakfast, nice staff and lovely atmosphere!
Authentic with fantastic staff. Can t wait for kitchen to open.
Went there for brunch dine in - great food & latte!! I was contented. Friendly devoted owners and chef!!
Love this new place, had an amazing brunch and I am sure to come back here with my friends. Must mention how fantastic and friendly the staff are.
The food was lovely and the owners are wildly friendly. Overall, was a very pleasant experience. I would recommend checking it out if you are in the area.
Such a great place. So much selection, beautiful presentation. Will definitely be back soon.
So far the best cafe we found in Aurora. Great food and service. Not expensive either. Happy we have it, thank you guys! :-)
Amazing brunch, great atmosphere and fabulous patio! Highly recommend.
Highly recommend this place! The food is very fresh with home made quality. The owner and staff are very friendly! Its also a beautiful place for sit down dinning.
Hidden Gem in Aurora .a new restaurant/store we happen to stumble upon. We were always saying this area needed a good brunch place. Sweet Duchess is an outstanding husband and wife team. The service, food and ambiance is impeccable. They now have a patio outdoors. They take great pride in their service. Cuisine is flavourful and innovative with always fresh ingredients. This is now our go to place for Sunday Bruch.
Amazing food and ambience! A definite must try.
When I say perfect brunch I mean it. I almost dont want to review it because I want it to stay a hidden gem but they deserve everyones love. Have been twice now and deeply satisfied both times. Everything is presented beautifully, and the decor and atmosphere are deeply Instagram-able. There are even delicious artisan foodstuffs in a small shop at the front of the dining room. Obsessed.
Lovely addition to Aurora. We had a warm greeting from every staff member. The store has some interesting and delicious products. There are even prepared meals you can take home and put in your freezer for a quick dinner. We had breakfast on the patio. I was very impressed by the quality of my meal. I had a Sweet Duchess breakfast and enjoyed every bite of it. The bacon and croquettes were so delicious. My partner had homemade Greek yogurt, granola and fresh berries. She said it was fantastic. Our server Max was helpful and personable. The indoor part of the restaurant is beautifully decorated and I am looking forward to eating in there in the fall.
Been meaning to try this out after seeing such great reviews...it did not disappoint!! All of the food was so fresh and flavourful, yet incredibly light. We had the seafood shareable, Monte cristo, brie croissant sandwich, prosciutto sandwich, and warm mushroom salad. This was a good amount of food (and some extra) for 2 adults and 2 children...we took home about half the salad and parts of the sandwiches. The potato croquettes were really yummy - fried yet still felt light with the mustard sauce. I have to say that the croissant sandwich and salad were my absolute favourite. I could eat those everyday. We enjoyed our meal on the patio and had several people (waitor and possible owner) check on us throughout the meal. They take reservations for their patio and there are some tables of 4 and 2. Give them a try!
It was a Friday and found this place in google. So decided to give it a try. We called to order take out and it was 30 min before closing and kitchen is just about to start preparing to close the kitchen but they are willing to take my order. Thx! :) We ordered 3 items: 1. Open face smoke salmon sandwich - the sandwich is a generous size and the ingredients are quite fresh. The combination of the ingredient between the smoked salmon, pickled onion and cucumber goes well together with the bread. I wouldn t this is the best sandwich I ever had but its a good sandwich. The 3 potatoes ball are good, warm and creamy. 2. Dutch style Caesar salad - this salad tastes different than the Caesar salad I normally had. They replace the croutons with something that also looks like croutons but tastes about like couscous (I could be wrong). I liked it. The bacon , it s replaced with some other kind of fried pork belly. It s salt with some nice pork fat, it s guilty food for me but I loved it and goes well with the salad. 3. Mushroom salad - this salad has lots of different little ingredients and makes this salad great. The mustard vinegrette goes well with this salad. I enjoyed the food very much and would visit again but the total cost is about $63 for 3 items and not cheap in my opinion. I should of ask for the itemized receipt because I don t know how much each dish cost. It would be nice for them to provide the itemized receipt without me asking. Considering the good food quality but the price is abit on the high side, I was struggling if giving a 4 or 5 stars. I would want to give 4.5, so I round up to 5 this time
Friendly staff, nice vibe in the restaurant. Tiny portions but the coffee was great!
Visited this place first time and enjoyed it very much. Food is tasty and has homemade feel to it. Place was clean and functional with indoor/outdoor, open kitchen, dining room and market/ takeout areas. Bathroom has a clean change table (bonus for young families!) Variety of to-go options as well. Will be visiting again to try out more.
A charming place, I have been there two times within two months. Love to check out their daily special menu written on a Kraft paper roll. You can always taste a hint of Dutch food but never feel overpowered. Remember to try their coffee if you are a coffee lover. (Rob is very proud of his coffee)
I can t say enough good things about sweet dutchess! U can t go wrong with anything u get there
This place is a gem! Great coffee and atmosphere. Their warm mushroom salad would be my recommendation if you choose to dine in. The staff are all amazing, very warm and welcoming. But the excellent service is why this place gets 5 stars from me.
Lovely atmosphere and service. Good was amazing
Great food, great atmosphere, great customer service
First time here, loved it! Great food and atmosphere, highly recommend!
I had brunch at this adorable place. They have a welcoming open kitchen concept layout in their restaurant. It really sets the vibe when you come around 10am hearing the amazing thick cut bacon sizzling away, while sipping on bottomless mimosas. Almost a therapeutic experience. My server was very attentive and sweet, without being overbearing. My latte was amazing as well, but definitely a fan of Papa s Coffee which is a shot of espresso, as well as a shot of grappa. They also have a rotating specials menu and their regular menu which solidifies this place as a Sunday morning ritual. All in all, an amazing experience. Definitely coming back to browse all their imported goods in their market another day, as there is so much to take in.
This place is nice and service is very friendly but the food is just okay.
Great place. Very quaint
We hosted our company Christmas party at Sweet Dutchess and it was AMAZING! Every detail was thought of, the service was amazing and the food was INCREDIBLE! They crafted a custom 5 course meal for our team and catered so well to our dietary restrictions. Rob and his team are industry experts! I highly recommend checking out Sweet Dutchess! Thank you for having us!
A little gem in Aurora. Went for lunch on a Tuesday and it was packed. We had delicious Monte Cristo sandwiches. So fresh and tasty served with Dutch potatoes krokets. Amazing service and reasonable prices.
