Im going to be kind and suggest perhaps we caught them on a bad day.

I visited this restaurant a few weeks ago with my girlfriends for afternoon tea and dessert, but unfortunately, it didn t meet our expectations. We frequently visit similar places and were hoping for a delightful experience, but this one fell short. Despite it being a quiet afternoon with only a few customers and two waiters on duty, the service was unexpectedly slow. We ordered two pieces of cake, two teas, and two coffees. While the first two drinks arrived promptly, the cakes sat on the counter for quite some time before being served, and our remaining drinks were forgotten. I eventually had to get up and retrieve them myself, as the staff seemed inattentive. Overall, the experience was disappointing, especially considering the lack of attention to such basic service. Theres certainly room for improvement in terms of efficiency and customer care.

Great selection of menu items. We both enjoyed omelettes with toast and coffee. A little on the pricey side. 10:00 a m. was not at all busy. Lovely place and great furnishings.

Attended for breakfast on Wednesday August 21/24. Waitress was great , food was terrible, 3 omelettes were over cooked and slightly burned, French toast had hardly any eggs, green melon was very hard and not yet ripe, the pea meal bacon was so over cooked and tasted like shoe leather. Considering the cost this was not what we expected. Not likely to attend ever again.

Our go to place for many years.

We come here regularly as a family, they have really good appetizers and cocktails (eg Moscow mule). Also salads and famous carrot cake for dessert, and cappuccino. We like the warm and friendly atmosphere.

Great food and employees

The worst food Ive ever had. We had chicken wings, which were hard and overcooked. The fish and chips tasted awful. The Tuscan soup was from a can. The hamburger was leftover. Dont waste your money. The only nice thing was the lady who served us.

Completely satisfied, food was tasty, light and refreshing , service was accommodating. Mohito was perfect. Desert was sky high layers of hummingbird cake. Vegetarian options: Tuscan bean soup, mediterranean salad, veggie wrap. Delicate sauces.

The food,service and pricing was very good to excellent. Our problem was unexpected, nauseating and humiliating . The waiter, in an unsolicited manner, brought up a discussion on politics. First he stated his dislikes re: our current Federal government policies. I was thinking....please stop there. He decided to talk about Mr. Trump. Now, we as a group, have nothing against a persons beliefs ( within reason). That said, he went on and on about Mr. Ts incredible achievements and honesty. We were absolutely dumbfounded that he continued even after he noticed our disgust. Let me digress: Instead of getting up and leaving, we stayed and attempted to involve ourselves in this debate. I personally am embarrassed that I was arguing with an individual whos knowledge of politics, was almost non-existent. Having said all of this, we were aghast that an individual who was on the clock, would continue to spew his infantile politics. Clearly he doesn t care about his job. At one point and I quote ,he said Let me educate you...I have heard some condescending remarks in my time, but this one is at the top. I needed to get this off my chest ( as my wife and I are now at home suffering from severe indigestion. ) I feel sorry and embarrassed for F----l. If he is angry about an attack on his country, (initiated under a former Democratic presidency) then perhaps he should reconsider ( among many things) returning home and making an effort to fix things. DISRESPECT, DISRESPECT, DISRESPECT... Hopefully, management will discuss what this individual s job description, DOESN T involve.

We had supper there and enjoyed everything. Good portions and good food!

We ordered in from this location and everything was terrible compared to the last time when we ordered. It feels like it came from a small kitchen of someone who wasn t a professional chef. My daughter got her usual Fettuccine Alfredo which was not creamy just a basic butter pasta with tiny chunks of chicken like those pre cut chicken pieces from subway instead of grilled pieces like usual. Chicken tasted like tofu and was super mushy. I got butter chicken which is my usual and the rice was way over cooked and mushy with the same garbage chicken as the pasta order. Hubby got chicken Caesar wrap and poutine fries and his wrap had tiny bacon bits like a hot dog stand bacon bits that he said tasted weird and his poutine had burnt fries that had gotten so soggy he couldn t eat them. All dishes had the same nasty chicken throughout. We have had this food before and for the raises prices and the severe quality decrease I will never eat here again.

The menu is very comforting. The food tastes fantastic. The server was EXACTLY the right amount of attentive. Another perfect evening at Symposium. Also....The Milkshakes are INCREDIBLE!

Our family celebrated our mom/grandmas 80th birthday here today and it was awesome!! Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Food was excellent!! Something on the menu for everybody. They allowed us to bring in her favorite cake for dessert (and thank you so much for singing Happy Birthday with us!). We will definitely be back!! Thank you again for making our moms 80th birthday one she will remember forever

Average food not recommended for dinner definitely do not order the ribs. The server Ron was not polite and very unprofessional. It ruined the whole experience.

hot water for tea could be hotter! Otherwise great.

Food and atmosphere are acceptable and above average. Unfortunately the service of the waiters name Ron is so unpleasant and unprofessional. We (10 people) have not finished our food yet, he has already taken out our salad and spinach dip, luckily one of us stopped him to take out the spinach dip but not the salad. Then he gave us the take out box so quickly even we didnt asked for it. He rushed us to pay the bill at 8:05pm even their closing at 11pm. Unfortunately, one of our friends heard that Ron and the other staff just discussed at the corner and find the way to rush us to go! All the dinner he was like a grumpy, no smile, unprofessional hospitality like serving hot stuff just past over the other customer; no asking for any dessert or coffee after main course and rushing for bills; no asking before take out for unfinished food. I will give NO STAR at all and strongly NOT RECOMMEND

Symposium accomodated our large cold & wet biking group for lunch, serving us in a timely and courteous manner!

we went there after a night with friends for a desert and coffee, they tried to stick us in a small table when there were plenty of empty tables and chairs and with no one at the door. I could understand if we were there when there would be a rush coming in after us but 90 minutes before closing , No i dont think so. coffee came to the table cold and I ordered an affogato which they need to watch a video on how to make one. smallest scoop of ice-cream ever, i was not impressed, stick to there traditional cakes and lattes and you will be great.

Disappointing service and food

Came in with a friend for casual dinner midweek. Great service and wonderful, calm atmosphere. Great spot to chat with a friend over good food and drinks. Price is very reasonable. Cool decor as well.

The South Asian shift manager here kicked us out back in 2022 because we didn t have a mask on while we were eating. I ll never forget that ridiculous experience.

25 April 2024 My wife and her friend have been going to symposium for the past 5 years. This evening, wife and her friend ordered the seafood special that came with a complementary clam chowder. They decided they would take the chowder home because they weren t that hungry. The waiter brought two soup containers, but shortly after the (Lady) manager came to the table and said you supposed to eat the soup here but I will let it go this time. This dining experience was extremely awkward. No where on the menu does it state you must eat the soup on the premises.

Always a good stop with the family. Lots of options, food is reliably good, and the decore/atmosphere is pleasant. We like the patio when it is that time of year too.

Ali was a great host, personable. He took his time to give us great menu advice. He s a great young man.

Restaurant was half empty, lots of serving staff. We waited almost 10 minutes to be asked our orders. Our food came out cold. Eggs Benedict ham was tough, could not cut; eggs cold, potatoes warm. Coffee was weak and had been sitting awhile. No one came to ask how the meal was or to offer a refill. When we finished eating we waited about 15 minutes for service to pick up plates. Wait staff had a lot of time to visit with each other. If we had not been so hungry we would have walked out when our cold food arrived. Years ago I worked as a waitress; Im embarrassed for the management. We wont be going back.

I had a terrible experience at the restaurant. The food was absolutely disgusting, and I mean disgusting! I ordered mussels and a burger while my wife ordered calamari. Unfortunately, we had to return most of the food and left the restaurant feeling hungry, angry, and disappointed. Needless to say, we did not leave any tips. NEVER AGAIN!

Last time I was there, the waitress gave me an attitude, I hardly ate my food and paid for the whole thing, I ask for a receipt, but the waitress (a petit middle Eastern girl) said shes going to call the police, and come chasing me out and take photo of my car. I feel this waitress have so wronged me, now that Ive recovered, Im gonna end this by leave a review

Food was good and the server was quick and kind. The dining room was clean and the atmosphere was fine. Unfortunately, I can t recommend this place for large groups. We were 25 people who had a reservation which was made 7-10 days ago. It took 2+ hours to get in and out. Food came out of the kitchen in spurts. Some were finished by the time others were starting to eat. Seems good for a foursome or a couple but if you re a big group, stay away.

An overpriced menu for bland food, with zero hospitality provided. I ordered fish tacos with fries and was delivered a soggy lukewarm taco with cold fries. Serving staff dumped us at a the table and disappeared for a while, before taking a drinks order, after an interminable wait for two simple beers, we had another long wait for the insipid meal to arrive. Avoid.

This is hands down the best service anywhere. Above and beyond!

We did not know Symposium serves breakfast. We tried it out one morning. Ordered the Cubana sandwich, smoked salmon, waffles, and a couple of coffee. They were all well done. The coffee was nice and strong, which I presume was from the use of good espresso beans. Two thumbs up!

First time coming here and have to say the food was good but our server was not. Placed our order and he didnt write down and forgot part of it, I had to walk up to him to remind him and then he did get it for us. We never saw him again till we jad to ask for a bill. Overall a good place but server was terrible

Symposium Cafe was on our go to list for quite a while now. Finally got the chance to eat dinner on a snowy night. The ambience is welcoming and has a lot of warmth. We ordered vegetable stir fry with basmati rice which was an explosion of flavours from the word go! We couldnt imagine such a beautiful culmination of flavours here in Aurora. Our server Shima suggested us to have the famous carrot cake and OMG! Hands down the best carrot cake we have eaten.

Yesterday, our visit to this establishment turned out to be a horrific experience. Despite our group of 36 people having made a reservation in advance and receiving confirmation, the service we encountered was unlike anything I have ever experienced. The servers appeared confused, stressed, and entirely unprepared. Shockingly, half of our table had not been served any drinks, prompting me to personally request water for at least some of us. The food delivery was equally disorganized, with servers loudly announcing dish names upon arrival and then dropping plates on the table after confirmation. As someone who works as a server myself, I was appalled by the lack of professionalism. Our attempts to enjoy ourselves were constantly interrupted by this chaotic approach. Furthermore, numerous food items were missing, leaving at least five people at our table waiting while others had already finished. It was a complete disappointment, and I am at a loss for words to express my dissatisfaction.

The hollandaise sauce was poor, no taste, like a yellow cream sauce... no salt no vinegar. Many better places for breakfast food in the area.

It was just ok. I ordered the salmon bowl or salad or whatever.... Salmon was overcooked. The waitress did come by a few times to ask if all is well, too late to send it back at that point tho. I was hungry

Excellent food and inviting atmosphere are utterly overshadowed by an unbearably rude manager who completely ruins the entire experience. Even the delightful dessert couldnt salvage the sour taste left by the managements attitude.

I will no longer go to this location. It has gone downhill very quickly. I was only there about two weeks ago and the food and service was great. This time, however it was less than good. The spinach dip was greasy and tasted old. The chicken parmesan was dry and not the same type of chicken the parmesan was two weeks prior or every other time in the past. After management apologized, they tried to pawn off an old piece of carrot cake to us. This place is losing its touch and needs to shut down. Get replaced with a more modern restaurant because this location has clearly run its course.

We ordered steak bites and clearly it was steak leftovers; we were not even asked for steak wellness! I won t suggest this at all! The place is very clean and the atmosphere was good though! Food

We stumbled upon this place, and the food was excellent, but what truly keeps us coming back is the exceptional person working here who creates such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. It s truly a delight to experience such friendliness. By the way, Ron is the heart and soul of this establishment his dedication makes all the difference!

I feel that this place has gone downhill since it opened many years ago. Depending on what you order, the food is hit and miss. On many occasions, the drinking glasses arent properly washed (lipstick on them). The outdoor patio is great in the summer time though.

they spit in my food, I only took one bite and felt weird, paid anyway, ask for a receipt they say they are going to call the police, as excuse to not give me receipt, I did not get a receipt, paid, didnt eat their food, $40 something dollar

We just returned home from Thur. date night special. It was by far the most incredibly and beautifully prepared meal we have had in a very long time! The quality of food, service and presentation alone make the price so incredible! This restaurant deserves exploring! A diamond for sure! You can tell the people running this diamond really care so much about doing their level best to bring great service to patrons.

Nice ambience and service but completely unremarkable food - the wow factor that one would expect was completely missing. The quality and quantity of the food do not align with the price. The fish and chips came with the smallest portion of coleslaw I have ever seen served. My husband requested guacamole as a topping on his burger - it couldnt have been more than a teaspoon of guacamole on a very dry burger. The Portuguese chicken looked nothing like the picture on their menu. Their menu looks so good, but their food is a letdown

Service is abysmal, and food does not make up for it

The main reason for my review is the menu! They have things in their menu that they don t honor and to me it s deceptive. The menu says freshly squeezed juice which they admit it s not. There are specials that they don t honor and etc. this is not acceptable.
