Great for. Great service. Large space. A lot of food selection. I liked the mango roll and the ddukbaeki bulgogi with hot pot rice was something I havent had anywhere else before and it was delicious. Very pleasantly surprised with that dish. This used to be a favorite of ours, as the restaurant is large and clean and food is prepared fresh, but tonight, it was so disappointing. We ordered the bulgogi dinner, and wow, was it small. The other recent reviews are true. I could see more of the hot plate than meat. Not really sure why they feel like the HST tax break allows them to compromise their quality. On top, I found a long strand of grey hair in my tempura. To push all responsibilities away, they said they have only male cooks and that they all wear hair nets. And that they would follow up with the company that supplies them the tempura... Were pretty sure the business had a change of owners, as we did not recognize any of the staff there tonight and quality has decreased dramatically. We will not be returning again.

Super fragrant! The rice cakes are soft and glutinous, the sauce tastes very special, the portion is large, the sushi is also very fresh, and you can eat both Korean and Japanese food. The service atmosphere is also very good.

The food is alright. Portions are smaller than what we are used to, compared to Toronto. The fried rice is meh. The sushi is good. Not a fan of the teriyaki main entree. The price is more expensive than other places we have been to. Service was friendly and quick. The place is clean and the atmosphere is pleasant.

I ll be coming back! Service was exceptional. The man who waited on us was fast, he checked on us a few times, offered refills for the side dishes and he had a calm professional demeanour. Food was good, reasonable prices, very nice presentation. We ordered the spicy roll set and the unagi don. It was a good unagi don it came in a small bento box, it was packed with unagi (some places are stingy and this place definitely wasn t). Each spoon at a larger portion of unagi vs rice . The spicy salmon roll was a lot of tempura bits and less salmon which is standard in some places but if you re looking for the type that has mostly chunks of spicy salmon, this isn t the dish. Overall food quality is good compared to other local Aurora cuisines. Definitely 100% better than big box chains. I m excited for more small local businesses like this in Aurora! Please keep up the awesome service and food. I ll be back to try the Korean food menu next!

My and my family s go-to sushi spot in Aurora. The food and service is amazing. I believe it s family owned. Every interaction we ve had has been super accommodating and kind. The sushi is wildly good. Highly recommend for takeout or eat in.

Came here with my family and had an amazing time. The environment is very cozy and the customer service is amazing. The waiter did his best to make sure that everything was how we liked it and he couldnt have made it more enjoyable for us. When we got the food it tasted amazing I was able to tell that the chef really cared about the dishes he made. Would definitely recommend and Im definitely coming back.

The best kimchi jigae and jjajangmyun in all of Aurora. Ive tried a few places and no one makes the kimchi jigae sour and spicy like this place. Very authentic and delicious. Will be ordering again soon

Excellent food & service

On Family Day, it was my dads birthday, so we decided to celebrate with his favorite dish, sashimi. Knowing that not everyone in our party enjoys raw fish, we ordered a variety of rolls to create a party tray for takeout. My dad, who is particularly discerning when it comes to sashimi, was impressed by the freshness of the fish. Seeing how much he enjoyed it, I realized that we should come here for sashimi more often with my dad. The other rolls were also delicious, with generous fillings and fresh ingredients, making the overall experience truly satisfying.

Food and service was average. They forgot our appetizers until we were already into our entrees and they didnt bring enough cutlery and plates. Also for a Korean restaurant there were only 2 appetizer dishes which was disappointing.

One of my favourite restaurants in Aurora, so much that I came here with my family twice in one month! We went back today and the food and service were phenomenal. I didn t catch the young gentleman s name who served us but he was awesome and food is 12/10! Highly recommend Sushi Kookjae Sikdang!

We absolutely love this place! The sushi is always super fresh and delicious and the portions are generous. My daughter and I usually share the Salmon Lovers Set and they often give us a second bowl of miso soup at no charge. Hands down the best weve had in the area. The service could not be better and they make our young daughter feel like a VIP from the moment she walks in until we leave. We wouldnt go anywhere else!

We have been looking for a good Korean restaurant in Aurora. It is very close to Aurora Go Train station. WOW! is the only word that comes to mind after our meal the other night. The food is very authentic. We have tried Donkatsu, Sushi & Maki, Yum-Tempura Roll and Korean-style Spicy Stir-Fried Pork. They were all delicious! We ate with kids and they all loved it! The servers were very friendly and helpful throughout the stay! The restaurant had a free parking. We will definitely visit again!

Excellent place for Korean food! Been to many places down by Finch and Yonge area and this place is comparable. Service is awesome, side dish and food are delicious (I purposely went for Korean instead of the Japanese to see how it is) and the food came fast as well.

My family and I went to dine-in and had a great experience! Food presentation was beautiful, my dad got the chirshai don and when we first saw it, we just had to take a photo! Good amount of food for what you pay for and the workers there are very friendly. Well definitely be visiting again.

Visited this place 3 times since it opened. Overall food taste great and it is good place for family meals. Staffs are friendly. Their sashimi trays have good variety. The dinner price is reasonable. However, it s really hard to get tea refills. You have to ask for it every time and their cups are small. I really think they are under staffed. Also, we noticed the food quality wasn t as good as it first open. For my last visit, my Takoyaki and pork bone soup was only warm when they served it.

My son and I decided to try Kookjae Sikdang for the first time today since he wanted to try Korean food and I was craving Japanese. We ordered Beef Bulgogi, Chicken Katsu, California rolls, Dynamite rolls. We were served some small bowls of kimchi, glass noodles, Mac & cheese and a julienned pickled vegetable (I m not sure which vegetable) and miso soup all of which were excellent. Our California and Dynamite rolls were very fresh, delicious and sized perfectly for one bite . This was the first time either of us had tried Bulgogi and it was amazing! Very tasty, tender, stir fried shaved beef with vegetables which were still crispy and it was served on a hot plate so the food remained warm. Our Bulgogi also came with Korean rice. The rice was also very flavourful and served in a beautiful bowl. Our chicken katsu was crispy and perfectly breaded with a tasty, sweet sauce and it came with Japanese rice. We were also served a dish I can t remember the name of but it was described to us as Krispy rice and it was meant to be a sort of dessert. It had a very unique texture and a delicate nutty taste. The service was excellent and the restaurant was clean with plenty of tables and roomy booths. Will definitely go back again. Please forgive my limited knowledge of the correct names for the dishes we ate but I will learn soon since I will be going back there again and again! Parking: There are a few parking spots but if it s full, you can park at the Go Transit lot next door.

Came here because of the 5 star reviews, which is really rare for any restaurant. The food was good, nicely presented. But here are a few observations: I went on a weekday afternoon when the place wasn t busy at all. Somehow I was seated by a large group, who were very loud. They were having a good time with speeches and clapping which was great. But not sure why the waitress sat me near them when rest of the restaurant was empty. I ordered Tako Yaki appetizer. It s supposed to be dough based but the portion of squid was really small for the price. The salmon lunch combo was good. But usually a Japanese meal comes with soup and salad. But this meal only had soup, side dishes of pasta and potato based noodles. There was no vegetable with the meal at all. Oh and the menu was poorly printed white letter size paper. Overall one appetizer and one lunch combo costed $50 with tax and tips. I m not sure is it just me or are expectations for $50 lunch has gone down post COVID. I d certainly expect better service and more balanced nutritions for that price.

I am over-the-moon to discover Kookjae restaurant located in Aurora. A newly opened restaurant with their sister location Min Sushi, in Richmond Hill. The owners regard service highly, a warm friendly welcome as soon as you enter, and you ll feel like part of the family by the time you leave. Service The staff is quick on their feet. Water refills and quality food check throughout the service. It isn t one of those restaurants where you are tagging the server down, looking for a drink, top off for tea etc. The waitresses here will beat you to it! Food The establishment offers both Japanese and Korean cuisine, they are delicious and meticulously prepared. I personally appreciate the effort they put in their food and it shows with every empty plate that I leave behind! Pork bone soup is one of the staples to Korean food, the chef takes the extra mile in adding more bones, extra garnishes, which adds boldness and depth in the taste. The sushi itself is excellent, fresh, and perfect size! The tempura is served larger than most restaurants I ve visited. Overall, I am sold as a regular customer and would 10/10 recommend this place to all friends and family. Thank you to the owners for being A+!

A beautiful restaurant with great service and food!

I m a fiend for sushi. I ve tried most of the sushi joints in Aurora and Newmarket. I ate here for the first time weeks ago and I swear every time I drive by, my mouth salivates. It was the best sushi I ve ever had. It changed my life. It made me a better person. I have a reason to wake up in the morning and it s simply remembering the joy of each bite I consumed in this fine establishment. If I was on death row I would want a dinner here to be my final meal.

A beautiful gem next to the Aurora GO station. The boys got a sushi, sashimi and roll platter, which was thoroughly enjoyed, and I got the pork bone soup. Delicious flavours in the pork bone soup, so comforting on a cold day. The parking lot is tight, so keep that in mind (unsure if there is more parking in the back).

Our party of four are impressed with this Korean / Japanese restaurant. Both food quality and customer service are above par. The seafood and beef Udons are tasty while the noodle excels in taste and presentation. The three rolls we ordered do not disappoint us. Added to its merits is the spacious booth seats and upscale decor. Overall, it lives up to its claim as a decent Korean and Japanese restaurant!

We were a party of 2 and ordered 2 different special sushi rolls and 1 bibimbap. Now, I am pescetarian so I don t eat the beef or meat. We asked to change the beef to salmon and at first they were hesitant but it actually tasted pretty good! And they were extremely friendly and welcoming, so service is 10/10. It s in a very random spot, and that sucks cause I think they deserve a few more customers. Go enjoy a good and tasty meal here

Lets start with the good. Food tastes great. Atmosphere is too dark. Service is good. Now the bad. This place is just another japanese restaurant run by Koreans. Not thats its a bad thing but dont bother coming here for Korean food. Its about 1/3 the regular size of other Korean restaurants. Ordered $30 bulgogi combo. Came out with barely 80 grams of meat. Told the staff and the response was.. nothing we can do about it. Rolls are good tough. Proper quantity and Quality. As a Korean canadian I only hope they take more care and pride when serving Korean food.

We ordered Ddukbokgi from Ubereats today and received the food with only 5 pieces of rice cake and 1 piece of broccoli in a container which looks very messy. The food is too little and it looks like leftover. Also, the plastic bag is a used one. The order looks disgusting. They charged $18 for this little disgusting food.

Not sure what the rave is about. Been to better and even smaller Korean restaurants in Aurora, Richmond Hill, North York, etc. Disappointed both in food quality and value for the money. Had pork bone soup. Meat was not tender. My friend had bibimbap. It was ok, meat portion was tiny. Also, first time to have only 2 appetizers - macaroni salad and pickled radish! Inside decor was nice but I came to eat and have good food, not to appreciate the decors.

Both the Japanese and Korean dishes are good. They have plenty of Korean dishes that I haven t seen elsewhere. The first time I ate here, service was slow. But when I came back, it was better. Vegetarian options: There are lots of vegetarian options. I went with a vegetarian friend who found plenty to eat.

First time visited this Sushi restaurant. Nice place, lots of seats and good service . I only went for a quick lunch and the food is very good.

Two ladies helped us, one was young and lacked experience with customer service. We had to waitl a long time for everything, even the menu and she just did not took care of us properly. The second lady who might have been the owner seemed lovely and treated us well. Good was deliciously displayed and treated really good and fresh. I would certainly go back and suggest better customer service.

Ordered yesterday Sept 9/2023 takeaway lunch. Lunch KL08 Bibimbab should include beef. Actual received there was no beef. Called them on Sept 10 and was told by a lady that KL08 lunch special is NO beef. I said the internet menu is with beef. She said it is wrong but she will check. Anyway I will not argue for the beef which is small issue. But they should check and in case of any error on their side, then they should compensate it to the customer. But at $15.95, even with special back-to-school 20% off, without beef is still too expensive.

A decent Korean / Japanese restaurant in Aurora. Appreciate their nice quality food. The owners memory is surprisingly strong. She can recognize repeated customers. Attendants are friendly, helpful and attentive. The environment is spacious. This allows privacy for interpersonal conversations.

A hidden gem! Two days ago, my husband and I went for lunch here, and we were both pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and service. The exterior looks small but the restaurant is actually quite large. I ordered the salmon donburi and it was so good~ the flavor of the fish with the nice touch of slightly sweet yuzu ponzu took me by surprise. Even the rice was perfectly cooked and seasoned. My husband had been craving pork bone soup and thats exactly what he ordered; it definitely hit the spot! Their menu has such a good variety of Japanese and Korean food, theres something for everyone, and its reasonably priced in my opinion. I also really enjoyed the atmosphere, the seating was spacious and clean. Go check them out! We just ordered take out from them tonight and already cant wait to go back.

Im so happy that this restaurant is in my area. Ive been to other Korean/Japanese restaurants around here but they didnt quite have the authenticity right. This place is the real deal. Both in Taste and in quality. My picky dad loves a style of sashimi that he says is not common at most places. We brought him here, apparently making him think back to younger days when the food was better! If you plan on ordering Korean, bring your appetite as portion sizing is on the generous end. Cold dish recommendation - The Cold Buckwheat Noodles (Naeng Myun?) was phenomenal! All the staff are extremely kind as well! The quality of service was just as wonderful as the food! Thank you so much! We will be celebrating my dads birthday party here for sure! We look forward to using the party room, having our own space to enjoy which is also a nice feature.

I cant believe it took me months to visit this place despite living nearby. The food is great. They have such a nice variety and interesting carpaccios and tartares you dont often come by. The servers were very attentive. The place offers lots of great seating for private dining.

A good variety of Japanese and Korean food includes sushi. Lighting is perfect for the restaurant along with the ambiance. Choice of booth or table, plenty of seating. Theres a bell on the wall to page the server.

Real authentic Korean flavors! I ordered the classic Soon Tofu Jjigae which came with a hefty bowl of rice followed up with Nurungji in hot water to clean the palate. So full now that I have to lie down and take a nap!

I am writing a few words to congratulate you on the opening of Kukje Restaurant and sincerely wish you success. During the 14 years I lived in the Newmarket/Aurora area, many Korean restaurants opened, but unfortunately 90% of them failed. The biggest reason for this result was the high price. In fact, the rent is probably cheaper here than in Yonge/Finch Koreatown, so why is the food so expensive? Jjajangmyeon in Beijing, Forbidden City, and Shanhaiguan, which are famous for being delicious, costs $8, but I dont understand why the Jajangmyeon here costs $15. Please note that Koreans here are people who strictly consider cost-effectiveness.

We are so happy this new Korean restaurant is here! Their karage chicken, jjigae, and kalbi were so delicious! We cant wait to go back for more. The Korean food is on par with some of the best North York Korean restaurants.

I experienced the best taste and the dishes were rich in flavor and aroma.

I didnt try a lot of dishes but was completely satisfied with what we had. They all taste tasty. From sushi, rolls to authentic Korean foods, great choices! Felt like VIP service with Korean style shiny dishes and bowls. Love this place. Highly recommend!!

Excellent food and atmosphere! We had sushi and dukbaegi bulgogi and pork born soup and their dolsotbab always comes with any korean dish, is amazing. My favourite!! Side dishes are delicious. My kids love all food and their side dishes! Price is reasonable. Service is fantastic!
