Very fresh sushi, large pieces for the price. Great place for takeout and also have free appetizers if you spend a certain amount. I only wish they re not always out of sushi rice on a Friday night! Would highly recommend

I have been to this place several times for convenience only because it is close to work. The first time shortly after they opened they were good and friendly. Now they dont answer the phone for order ahead service anymore. They are rude and they do not treat you well. Their salmon crisp roll is made with rice Krispies! I wanted to get a yam roll and they told me I had to wait for at least 20 min. This is a two man business and during high demand times it is not a good option at all. I am not going back. Too bad

This is an okay place to get take out for sushi but I believe its just okay. Beware of the spicy rolls as the majority of it is filler. The sushi is okay. I wouldnt go back, but its an okay place for sushi. Staff are super nice and the service is good.

My absolute favorite lunch spot when I am working. I go about once a week. The sushi is so fresh every time. It isn t cheap but you get what you pay for.

The hours of this place is weird. They close before dinner time.

Dont call it a spicy salmon roll if 95% of it is not spicy salmon. Its a spicy crispy tempura roll at this point. I came home and read reviews after and saw all the comments about the spicy salmon. Blows me away how ownership doesnt care to acknowledge or change the menu item to make it a genuine spicy salmon roll... Wow. When they say 10 pieces - its so huge (with very little rice) it can feed two adults. The rolls were so good, and very fresh. Loved the dumplings as well. Would highly recommend for a easy pick up sushi joint.

Sushi is fresh, fast and reasonably priced. Great vegetarian options. Generous portions. A gem right around the corner.

My daughter recommended Yamato, so I decided to just give it a try and have what she had, plus a miso soup. I ordered Philadelphia roll and Kari salad. AWESOME! All was delicious and presented well. Going back for Kari salad today and some tempura offerings. Kari salad is delicious on a croissant with some lettuce! I think I m addicted.

Always a great place for lunch and family dinners. I would recommend any sushi lover to visit Yamato. Place your order prior helps you avoid wait times. Also, Yamato has a rewards system.

Yamato is good for the price, but you get what you pay for. Sushi is really affordable and portions are big, but quality is only one step above grocery store sushi. I would also not recommend their spicy rolls, which have a lot of fried filler in them.

Yamato sushi was one of the best sushi restaurants i have ordered from ! It was delicious and well worth the money ! The rolls were great size and enough to fill a small party of people (5-7) . If you love avocado this place is where you order from , they packed them full of fresh vegetables and fish and the tempura was amazing ! I highly recommend checking this place out ! I will be ordering again from here 100% even though I m over a half an hour away from it . Awesome service on the phone as well !

Solid choice for sushi in the Newmarket area. Not quite as good as Mi-Ne Sushi close by (that one is a must try), but quality was solid and fish portions were good. Great for large groups.

I ordered Yamato sushi for Fathers day and this was amazing. Beautifully made large and I emphasize large rolls filled with fresh gorgeous fillings. We ordered the large roll platter and off the bat the great thing about Yamato you get to choose which rolls you want in your platter from their list of options. Every piece was well crafted, huge, fresh, and delicious. Usually a large platter is not enough for my family as we are big eaters but this filled us up and had some leftover. As our order was $86 we also got 2 free appetizer which was a very pleasant surprise. I definitely recommend Yamato if youre looking for a take out sushi spot as they only offer take out. It is worth it for sure

Should have read some of the recent reviews before ordering the spicy salmon roll - can confirm that there wasn t was any salmon in those rolls

Amazing food. Best sushi by far in all York region. Take out only means they do allot of orders even during COVID so shashimi is always fresh.

After our disappointment with a Sushi place near Yonge street. We are very happy to find this Sushi place in Aurora. The quality of the Sushi, the choices and the piices are all very satisfactory.

Yamato is consistently fantastic. We order once a month and have never been disappointed.

Yet again, the Yamato team has OUTDONE themselves! From the friendly customer service received over the phone, to the excellent kitchen men who prepare these MAGNIFICENT rolls, York Region should be truly in awe. Yamato is truly a one stop shop - great food and great customer service all at a reasonable price. The picture below includes one large party tray, with the two complimentary appetizers (split between 3 people). This portion leaves you full all day. You have come to the RIGHT place if you want to MUCK; would highly recommend the Yam tempura roll and the Scallop roll. Farewell for now, - TL Jr. ;)

Called to put in an order and was told when I can pick up my order, when I told them it was to long they said ok goodbye and hung up. Wow no compromise at all, or....lets see how we can help you. Is customer service totally lost. This place tells you what you can have, when you can have it and if their not willing to assist their dismissive! I guess its time I look for a new place .

This place is top notch. They give you great sized fish portion in your rolls and all the ingredients are super fresh. They do not cheat you by giving you a lot of rice to fill you up. This my new favourite spot. I just wish they were open during lunch on weekdays.

Really yummy sushi platter with amazing portions

Very good value and portion sizes. Excellent flavour and friendly staff. Only wish they didnt cut their hours so much and shut down every few weeks. Expect to order well in advance to avoid significant wait times or disappointment.

This has been my go-to place for fresh and delicious sushi. They dont serve as much warm Japanese food as other places but they stick to what they do best, which is their sushi. They do a great job!

Went to a party and they got take out from this place. The rolls were delicious and not a lot of rice! Super tasty and the rolls are big too. They have great platter options and if you spend a certain amount, they give an app for free. We ordered different rolls and sashimi platter. My favourite roll was the orange fire with scallops and the fish was torched on top! Small take out location, but super convenient!

I have to admit...I have not yet tried the food here....my rating is based solely on the fact they never have food! So, 1 weekend I called at about 7pm....and the lady tells me they ran out of sushi and I should call earlier next time. So, the very next day I called at 5pm and again they ran out of sushi. Too difficult to order from here!

I have been there couple times when I craving for sushi rolls, one of the thing I like about this place is speed. They are very efficient. Their sushi is okay, fresh, larger size roll compare to other similar store. The price is a little bit on the expensive side but since the tax included, u pay the price on the menu. however, I do not like their service and staffs not welcoming. I can understand that cuz the chefs are very busy, I always see chef show temper at cash register staff and not very happy.

We are a regular. Never a disappointment. Always satisfied. Great quality and service. A MUST TRY. EDIT: Lately, it has been so frustrating and annoying to order here. Ive called at least 5 different times and have been told many excuses like we ran out of rice, were done for the day, were not taking anymore orders, etc...). I tried calling at 3pm, when they close at 7pm and say theyre not taking anymore orders for the day. Ugh!! Really?! Unfortunately, Ive given up and I just go directly to their competitor now. Which is sad because we loved their sushi. I hope they can fix this.

Fresh and delicious . No frills as it is a tiny shop best for take away but its all about the food rolls are wonderful. Would recommend for trays and lunch combo ( pick any two for $12) all prices include tax so when you consider that its not much more than supermarket sushi, except much better.

This is for the most part a take out restaurant as there is only one table for 4 to eat on but the food is very good made fresh at a reasonable price.

We usually order from another local sushi place but thought wed try Yamato out for a change. We are glad we did! You can order roll, sushi or sashimi party trays, or any combination of them. Not only that, you can specify the contents of each party tray, huge bonus. The rolls are delicious, large and packed with fresh ingredients. The extra condiments included are generous, and you get a free app with minimum purchase. Definitely worth a try, highly recommended.

Ive only had their party tray once and i loved it. yamato sushi makes large sushi rolls with little portion of rice so youre really getting your moneys worth by getting more of the veges and fish. Excellent customer service over the telephone and face-to-face. I enjoyed my experience there and will continue to support small businesses like these! :)

This is our go-to place for sushi! The party trays are really great for parties. Although a bit pricier, its worth the extra money because the sashimi is always fresh. A special mention for their rice - it is the only place we have found in Aurora so far that has sushi rice that remains soft even after being refrigerated overnight. Service is great - they offered to help me bring trays to my car when I went in with my toddler. The free apps that come with certain $$$ spent are a nice bonus! Highly recommend this place.

So happy to have such an amazing sushi shop in Aurora. It is fairly priced and such friendly service. I called in for pick up and they prepared my order on time, it tasted fresh, and was presented beautifully. The man gave me more than enough condiments on the side. I will return.

I ve taken out at this restaurant a few times now and everything tasted great. They have some interesting rolls and their rolls are alittle larger then other places. Usually 1 roll is enough for me.

Staffs were very friendly and the sushi were made to order. They have great variety of selections and good prices for the amount you are getting. This is the only few good sushi in Aurora/Newmarket area. Fyi this is take out only as the location only has seats for 4. Highly recommended

Well priced sushi joint. Food and service are pretty good. Just wished that they would also serve rice and noodle dishes as well.

I am extremely picky with my sushi so when i moved up here from Markham I was constantly searching for the best sushi around the area. I have tried multiple places as well as been to Yamato Sushi regularly and I can confidently say that its the best sushi in the area with amazing prices and service. I was in Toronto last weekend but I rushed back up to get sushi here and it was close to closing (8 pm) I called them and they didnt pick up (they were busy). I expected no one to pick up since it was so close to closing so I saw it coming. What I didnt expect is that THEY CALLED ME BACK! It made me so happy! And they made my party tray so fast too (in 15 minutes). That experience alone made me love Yamato Sushi even more, thank you! Will be back very soon :)

Very friendly staff, which I cant stress enough. Fresh fish. Food is made in 10-15 minutes. Fish-to-rice ratio is very generous. Free appetizers if your bill reaches certain amounts. All prices include tax, making it easier to calculate. The suggested tip (when paying by card) is low (5%, 10% or custom), which just adds to the perception of humility and friendliness. Getting out of the parking lot can be tricky if youre heading back south due to No left turn signs at both exits. Restaurant is primarily take out, although they have a few seats. Wouldnt recommend for dining in, but certainly for take out.

Very generous portions of sushi and sashimi, with very big portions of fish. Its best for takeouts. Its probably the best sushi place in Aurora.

Very good food. Very pleased with the quality. Not a lot of non-sushi options on the menu. Little seating inside. Mostly good for takeout. I think I saw a sign that says they also deliver. Prices are slightly on the higher side but not ridiculous and all prices include applicable taxes so perception is biased. Highly recommend if you are in the area.

Review scored at 4.8. we tried last night and was disappointed. 24 dollars for Yamato combo including tax. It was a reasonable price. But the soysauce was like being mixed with lots of water. Rice was not fresh at all. The quality of the fish was soso. I dont why its so highly rated. I usually go to the one in the south in Aurora but this one is new and closer to me. Will try again later.

Excellent sushi! Really fresh, super clean store. Thin rice layer on the rolls - so delicate. Do not enjoy the tempura bits - they stuff some of their rolls with tempura which feels like bread stuffing. Other than that, I will order again (and request no tempura stuffing).

Got good poisoning after eating the sushi tray from this place.. was so sick that I was throwing up and had diaherra for a few days.. Germs passed on to my baby and he was throwing up, had high fever and lethargic in the middle of night. I will not return to this place and would not recommend this place to anyone.
