This restaurant completely exceeded my expectations. Honestly, everything we ordered was just spot-on. The oysters were perfect—so fresh, exactly how they should be. The lobster was absolutely divine, tender and buttery without being overdone. The steak perfectly cooked, full of flavour, and so satisfying. Every dish we had was genuinely delicious, the kind of food that makes you pause and appreciate it with every bite. It’s rare to leave a restaurant feeling this impressed, but Woodcut really delivered.

It was a bit disappointing that the seafood options were limited, but other than that, the restaurant was perfect. Every dish was absolutely delicious, and the dessert was particularly outstanding. The location, right by the ocean, was amazing, and the atmosphere was lovely. I’m especially grateful to the Japanese staff member who kindly explained everything to us. I definitely want to come back again!

A phenomenal first hand experience. The food was delightful, the atmosphere had the perfect combination of music and lighting, to enjoy your meal and conversation. Great for a special birthday occasion, sat at the kitchen bar, seeing the chefs preparing the food over the fire and plating the dishes was amazing. Definitely will be coming back. Thank you to the WoodCut Team for your great service.

Had the pleasure of a front-row seat, watching the chefs work their magic during sunset hour. The Pioik sourdough with black garlic was a standout, the dessert was unique, and the wine pairing with the steak was chef's kiss. Great value, amazing service—we'll be back!

Went here to celebrate my birthday and it was quite a memorable experience. Upon entering the restaurant, you definitely feel like it was warm and inviting. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. We started the night with some black garlic bread, cooked tiger prawns and the “brick” chicken. The garlic bread was probably the better of the bunch with a very subtle but pleasant garlic taste. The prawns were not really anything special and the grapes with the chicken pairing were alright and nothing to really rave about. Next up was the octopus, spaghetti squash and sirloin steak 9+. The octopus had a nice charred flavour. I’m not the biggest fan of truffle, but truffle flavour in the spaghetti squash wasn’t too overpowering and was half decent. Then came the star of the night the sirloin steak. When people talk about steak that melts in your mouth, they are referring to this one. The flavour of the meat was something you dream of and the crispy charred exterior contrasted harmoniously with the buttery inside. This was paired with a rich and delicious green peppercorn sauce. It might seem like 200g is a little, but even sharing this in half with my partner was more than enough. Any more and the delight of it would’ve dissipated faster ice cubes on a hot summer day. We ended the night with perfumed fruits which was a nice refreshing and a staff brought out a tasty chocolate tart to top off the night. Overall, a pleasant experience. Might give some other dishes a try next time, but will be thinking of the sirloin for quite some time.

The outdoor seating is a big plus, especially on a nice day with a great view. The 'black' garlic bread intrigued me – it had a unique flavor, possibly with some fermented black beans mixed in. It was something new and interesting! The Australian lobster was fantastic, super fresh and perfectly cooked. As for the steak, it was Wagyu and cooked medium-rare, which kept it tender and flavorful without being too greasy. The lamb chops were also quite good. Overall, it was a pleasant experience with some standout dishes.

Recognized as a steak restaurant!! The seafood is also fresh! The first beer order took longer to be served than the wine, but the second time didnt take that long. If you order both seafood and steak at the table, you must request that the table be cleared before serving the seafood. What a cutting Steak

Let s start with the confusing menu, Salads are combined under the Sides, Given the steaks don t come with any sides, you re forced to order seperate sides for prices akin to Meat & Wine Co. and various other good steak joints around. Please DO NOT order the kids steak unless your child is 5 and under, the serving is no more than 80g. Ordered the O Connor Sirloin on the bone, it had way too much fat and was difficult to deal with. Salt had to be specifically requested. The chips were dry and tasted like they were air fried, meanwhile the salad doesn t come with a staple ingredient called olive oil & balsamic. The popular velvet salad just came with a cream drizzled and was rather dry like rabbit food. All up a gastronomical disaster, never again.

Highly recommend the wagyu sirloin, the beef has a perfectly crispy exterior and tender interior, infused with a unique fruitwood aroma. Paired with the peppercorn sauce, it s an absolute match made in heaven. Service was prompt, and the other dishes were all up to standard. The open kitchen adds a great vibe to the dining experience. The only downside is that the utensils could be a bit cleaner. Vegetarian options: Friendly!

Food was okay and the ambience was nice. However, the front of house who was seating us at 13:20pm on 29/10/24 (a lady with glasses) is very unprofessional and rude. She commented using harsh words and talked to us with attitude. In hospitality industry, this kind of attitude is considered unacceptable and harmful to the restaurant reputation. Although the waiter who took care of our table was friendly and polite but we won t be back again due to that attitude of the lady and the way she treated us.

My husband appreciated the quality of the steak and potatoes, which were well-prepared and enjoyable. However, I was disappointed with both the spiced duck and the service. After informing the waitress that I am pregnant, I ordered the duck, which was served quite rare with visible redness and blood. This unfortunately meant I couldn t eat it, and my only option was the side dishes. When we raised this issue at the end of our meal, the manager explained that the duck had been slow-cooked for five hours and was not technically raw. Nonetheless, it would have been helpful if the waitress had informed us of the preparation style or recommended a more suitable option for pregnancy.

Woodcut Restaurant in Crown Sydney offers a memorable dining experience with its striking modern décor, featuring abundant timber elements and an open kitchen that invites you to witness the culinary artistry in action. The ambience is ideal for a business lunch, allowing for engaging conversations without the distraction of cramped seating; tables are thoughtfully spaced apart, enhancing the overall experience. From the moment you enter, the attentive greeters and waitstaff make you feel welcome, providing excellent service and a keen attention to detail. Now, lets talk about the food. We kicked off our meal with fresh oysters, which were a delightful start. The Wagyu beef skewers were a standout tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor, complemented by the rose harissa. The Tiger prawns, paired with fermented chili and macadamia, were equally impressive, succulent and beautifully seasoned. The halloumi with honey and figs was an excellent combination, balancing savory and sweet perfectly. However, the Brick chicken with barberries and grapes didn t quite hit the mark for me; it was slightly dry. For our mains, we opted for the Tomahawk steak (5+, 1.8kg), which was impressive in flavor, though it arrived more on the medium rare side than the medium I requested. The accompanying Béarnaise sauce, unfortunately, was a letdown it seemed to have split, indicating that the preparation may not have been executed correctly. Despite a few minor setbacks, Woodcut is undeniably a place worth visiting. The combination of attentive service, innovative cuisine, and a pleasant atmosphere makes it a standout choice for anyone looking to enjoy a great meal in Sydney. I look forward to returning to see how they might refine their offerings!

I visited Woodcut recently and really enjoyed the atmosphere, cocktails, and the range of food choices. The ambiance was fantastic, and the drinks were expertly crafted. The staff are excellent at explaining the menu to our party. However, I need to address a concern regarding food allergies. My partner has a severe nut allergy (anaphylactic) and we made sure to communicate this to the staff at the beginning of the evening. They assured us they would remove nuts from the dishes and inform us about any that contained them. While they did remove nuts from the first dish, they failed to notify us about the others. Unfortunately, my partner tried a skewer that they did not mention had nuts in it, and he experienced an allergic reaction. Thankfully, he was able to stop before it escalated, but this was a very alarming situation. While I would recommend Woodcut for its overall experience, I urge anyone with nut allergies to proceed with caution, as the staff may not be as attentive as promised.

We walked in for lunch at 12:15 and there were more than 10 tables available. The lady who is reservation manger asked if we wanted to sit in front of the cooking station, we first agreed but my husband changed his mind. Then we asked if we could sit at a regular table, she then led us to the table far at the back where one person had to face a wall. We were seated next to a walkway for waiters and waitresses even though there were so many tables available. We then ask if we could sit somewhere else she said no. All tables were booked . Very disappointed! Then we went to The Meat & Wine Co which was excellent!

Woodcut vs Nobu We were gifted a Crown voucher as a work incentive and decided to book a meal at Woodcut. We had recently been to Nobu and enjoyed the food a lot. The Barangaroo area is very nice and the Crown complex is very new and polished. Our booking was in front of the cooking station, which is actually pretty cool. We used to eat a lot at Toko in Surry Hills and this type of seating has always been a favourite. The food prep is good to watch, everything coming out looks amazing and you get a preview of the menu passing by. We were offered sparkling or still water to start. I always choose sparkling, my wife chooses still. Inevitably, wherever we go, we almost always get two glasses of the same water regardless of our order. This time it was 2 x still. It s a little thing, and it doesn t really bother me BUT I d rather not get charged for sparkling water that never arrived. Which I did. That was kinda the theme of our night. I ordered a cocktail, my wife ordered a glass of sparkling rose . The wine arrived, in a lipstick smudged glass and was very flat. They were good about this, quickly explaining that this was the last of a bottle that had been open all day. Seems like a problem that could have been anticipated and easily avoided. The glass was promptly replaced. My cocktail was delicious (if very small). We ordered what seemed like a lot of food and the Sommelier came by. He asked my wife if she d like to try something else. She felt like a glass of Rose and asked for options. They had both a French and Australian option. She asked for a recommendation, he huffily restated, well one is French and one is Australian. We shrugged and ordered one, he asked me for an order and I asked for a tap beer. A few minutes later our food began to arrive and another waitress offered drinks. We explained that we had ordered but she was just there to make sure. It became clear the sommelier had not placed any order. Again, we shrugged and moved on. More food arrived and the Australian rose proved very nice. After a while I flagged down a waiter and asked if I could get that beer, he looked flustered and said it was definitely coming but the bar was very busy. I glanced over to see a single person at the bar that was definitely NOT busy but left it alone. We finished our food, all very nice but super small portions. We skipped dessert. The meal cost as much as our meal as our Nobu meal. At Nobu we had 2 drinks each, a cocktail and one glass of wine and one beer. We had so much more food AND we had dessert. It was never about cost for us, but we left Woodcut feeling unsatisfied and poorly served. Which is such a shame, because so many ingredients of a great fine dining experience are there, but terrible service took it all away. We re not loud or obnoxious complainers, and we get that sometimes mistakes happen but this felt like a real lack of care. I don t write reviews generally, but I m hoping if Woodcut is YOUR restaurant, you take a read. All this stuff is so easily fixed. So fix it. Good luck.

We have dined at woodcut many times. The food is very good however the rude and condescending staff at the front desk and a male maybe host Accent and Beard extremely rude I have dined there with adults and he s fawned all over us. I have dined there also with children and he has virtually ignored us being extremely rude to us when I ve asked for things comments to our table that the kids were disturbing other diners which was absolutely false my kids love Wood cut and are very well-behaved. It s a shame the food is great but this particular dining room host. He may even be a manager spoils the experience. I am lodging a complaint with crown as he is exceptionally rude. Especially when any dining experience there, we are spending well over $800 a meal

September 23, 2024

Woodcut was extremely underwhelming. I came here with my partner for a nice dinner thinking it would be great from the reviews and it was probably on of the worst places we have eaten (ended up going to least wine and co to have dinner). Firstly be aware that the service is very slow, waiters are spread too thin between multiple diners meaning they aren t able to cater to what you need when you need it (bare minimum for such fine dining). Secondly the wait time was horrible, now I don t mind waiting here and there but open communication of it ll take this long or your food will be out in 1 hour rather than saying nothing would be great. For the price we ve had much better at 6HEAD, meat wine and co, elements bar and grill, I could name a ton! We ordered the lamb cooked to medium came out raw, sent it back and it still came out almost the same way, some of the sides had a rather pungent smell. The manager was understanding and great however I wouldn t eat here again or recommend it to any of my family of friends. There are places in Sydney that are far better

Walk in at Woodcut at Crown for an unplanned lunch stop. Good atmosphere, very cheerful and obviously popular. Table by a window with the sun streaming in, and views across Darling Harbour. Staff are really friendly and service is quick. Great grill for meat lovers but fish, fowl, and fresh veges all come off the grill here, and everything we saw looked great. We started with and shared the halloumi, with honey and figs and so nice. Followed up with a sirloin on the bone and an eye fillet. Both medium rare and cooked to perfection with a delicious crust. Both the veal jus and peppercorn sauce were good accompaniments, as was the hasselback potato and wilted greens. A couple of nice glasses of red and lunch was complete. We didn t order too much as we just stopped by to eat, but were pleasantly surprised and will mark this one down for another time when we feel like a grill. All up our bill was just under $300, which was a bit exxy, but we enjoyed our meal.

we had to start with their raved about Grilled Tasmanian Black Garlic Bread $13 which was every bit as dreamy creamy you can imagine. the black garlic is not as bitter as youd think, and was instead quite rich and earthy, paired so nicely with the crisp bread. we actually ordered a second round of this to go with the Burrata, served with Persimmon, Pomegranate Dressing and Basil $29. tbh I think all burrata or stracciatella dishes should come with bread automatically included, I only eat straight up cheese with a spoon from my fridge at home at 2am Sydney Rock Oysters are a must, ours came with Chickpea Miso Mayonnaise and Yuzu Kosh Mignonette $7 each, I preferred the yuzu as it was more refreshing. I also really craved caviar so ordered the N25 Caviar $35 each served with Warm Griddle Cake, Lemon Cream, and Chives, super delicious and luxe, I loved this flavour combo with the lemon cream!! for mains, we shared the Shiro Kin Full Blood Rump Cap 250g 9+ Wagyu from Darling Downs QLD $100, cooked medium rare (anything else, straight to jail) and it was divine! I loved that charcoal crisp coating, nice and tender inside. underneath the lil salad was more of that lovely black garlic which went down well. we also ordered the Hasselback Potato, Burnt Onions, with Herb Oil $18 and ooooomg can I tell you I pretty much DRANK this dish straight from the plate. whew it was the perfect balance of crisp and soft, with a distinct buttery taste that wasnt too heavy at all. please order dis potato while the food is really really good, i must say the service is a bit cold and unwelcoming. when we were shown to our table, our server just left us before we sat down and had to constantly wave people over to order. i didnt have this issue with Amare, another @crownsydney restaurant so not sure what went on here. regardless, i think i would come back just for the food Check out my food Instagram @erinxeats for more!

Absolutely the best steaks I have ever eaten in Australia! Cooked to perfection and worth every dollar. While pricey as expected, I had to order another serving of their steak because it was so darn good. They have an entire menu of different types of steak cuts and cattle, however, you cant go wrong with any of them. We had the chefs table and it was amazing to see the skilled chefs in the kitchen work at their stations. Clean, professional and efficient.

Could not fault the overall experience. From the moment you are greeted at reception, the staff are very attentive and engaging. The restaurant itself is layed out very well with plenty of space and a great atmosphere. The food was delicious. An extensive range of wines to choose from and the cocktail list was on point. Recommended for sure.

My wife and I celebrated our 32nd anniversary and spent a night at the Crown and were upgraded to the Executive Suite room 1502. We booked dinner at the Woodcut as it was recommended to us and from the moment we were greeted at reception, the staff was very professional. The restaurant has water views, spacious and has a great atmosphere We started with the Pioik s bakery fermented sourdough, cultured butter and half a dozen Oysters, followed by Halloumi, Malfroy s honey, thyme, figs, and zucchini flowers, curd, buckwheat shells, pecorino, rocket. With the Wagyu Rump cap 9+ and Centre cut eye fillet I had Hasselback potato, burnt onions, and herb oil. My wife had Ash grilled tied beans, piquillo peppers, and yoghurt. We could not fault the overall experience. The only thing I would say is the wines they had were three to four times the cost the normal price, and overall very pricey.

Typical Casino arrogance. For example: They make several amazing wood-fired breads - however, you have to sit in the right section of the restaurant to get the one you want. This kind of customer service ignorance aligns with their poor ratings. It s dumb. Turning the dials in the restaurant should always favor the customer, especially in a casino.

Crown Sydney is the first 6 star hotel in Sydney and no money has been spared to make it the new destination in the relatively new suburb of Barangaroo. The building itself is the tallest in Sydney and a beautiful sculpture on the edge of Darling Harbour. Designed by Rod Faucheux of Loop Creative fame, the kitchen is run by duo Ross and Sunny Lusted who know a thing or two about hospitality, as their previous venture The Bridge Room in the CBD ran successfully for 8 years. They both had creative input in the design of the magnificent decor, and like their menu, a fusion of Japanese and Modern Australian cuisine. You can choose to sit at a table with water views at Woodcut, at one of the seats surrounding any of the four open kitchens watching the action, at the long, bustling bar or at one of the many tables inside or outside the restaurant area. An elegant group table sits right in the hub of the restaurant with a huge white feather-style chandelier super modern, fun and inviting. The staff are unusually and pleasantly passionate about their work here. My lunch companion and I wandered around looking at the open kitchens, and a waiter came over and offered us intimate explanations and a mini-tour of the steam kitchen, explaining what and how food is prepared there, how it is cooked and so on. Just watching any one of the four kitchens in action is pure theatre, and thrilling for any foodie. In Sydney terms, this is the stuff the 1980 s hey days were made of. Spacious, glamorous restaurants with mind blowing interiors, spectacular food and global staff who are passionate. Our waiter showed a level of attentiveness, warmth and intimacy I haven t before experienced from wait staff within Australia. He introduced himself by name, and told us how long he had worked there, where he grew up, where he had last worked and shared his passions and tastes for food. We couldn t help but select his recommendations, even though some were dishes we wouldn t ordinarily have gravitated to as he made us feel like we could trust him with anything. He had the bar staff mix us cocktails not on the menu (a fabulous list of mocktails is also on offer), which was a celebratory way to start a magnificent day out The diverse, highly creative and enticing menu at Woodcut has been created by chef superstar Ross Lusted whose global CV reads like the ultimate international travel guide. It showcases an impressive selection of seafood including a raw bar as well as steamed options, meat with 7 steaks, wood-roasted cuts including brick chicken, four bread types including black garlic bread (and black butter), and more uniquely divided into wood, coal and steam options. There are many vegetarian choices too. Plus there is a special menu, so a lot for choice here. The wine list is cutely written in chapters, but is overwhelming for the untrained palette with so many choices. An experienced eye is needed to assist, and the wines by the glass are a delight as there are so many I had never seen served by the glass anywhere else

This was our second visit to Woodcut, first visit was around a year ago. We could not wait to come back again. Unfortunately the food was a let down this time. I am unsure if there have been some changes since our last visit however the high price did not match the quality of the food this time. Such a shame. We spent almost $400 on two people (2 drinks, a shared dessert, 2 entree s and 2 mains)

Unfortunately we found our evening at Woodcut was quite underwhelming. We were a walk in and we were sat at the kitchen bar which was actually fun, so we could watch the team in the kitchen. That was a high point. But the food was just pedestrian. I paid $85 for an aged sirloin on the bone. I didnt taste a hint of salt at all, it had some very dark, charred edges that were bitter and it was tough . I would have said something to the wait staff, if they had of checked in. The bearnaise seemed like it was made with NO2 which meant it actually disappeared on my plate, not a hint of tarragon at all. We shared an entree which was as average as the main. My wife had fish for her main course, which again was terribly under seasoned. Maybe the team needs to focus on bringing out the best in the food making sure it reflects the price they demand.

The food was amazing. Black garlic bread came warm and soft, and the garlic flavour was not too strong but a good aroma. We ordered brick chicken, wagyu skewer, and octopus for entree. The octopus is a must try, very tender, so do the wagyu skewer. For main, we ordered lamb and duck with the side of Hasselbeck potato. The lamb was cooked to perfection, juicy. I really enjoyed my dinner, especially the Hasselbeck potato. I will definitely come back and try all other entrees and the steak next time.

I came here with my husband for our 10 year anniversary. The food was beautiful, but was consistently let down with the service of not only the waitress, but also the bar staff. It got that bad between the both of them that the Manager had to step in and try and fix the issues with the bartender. The icing on the cake is when the bartender threw my drink into the bin, and it exploded and made such a sound. It was incredibly uncomfortable for me to witness and be around. They sent the bartender away for about half an hour to cool down before he returned. A little too late as it already ruined our evening and a lot of attitude as well. I ll definitely never return to this restaurant or ever recommend it such a shame because I heard great things about it. This all happened April last year, so I hope that their service team has changed since. The food was amazing, but you never forget bad service such a shame for the chefs !

All the dishes we tried were phenomenal. Even we had to wait for 45mins due to the slow wood burning method, the Wagyu Black Angus turned out to be the best beef steak I have ever had. Families, dining here is a real ordeal! The waiter couldnt even remember the number of dishes to be served A large private room for 14 people, eating from 7 oclock to leaving at 10 oclock. It takes less than an hour to eat, and the rest of the time is spent waiting. Two words: Escape quickly.

February 23, 2024

Certainly worst fine dining experience I had ever have. They messed up the menu that we discussed through the email. Although their portion was designed to be shared, but we told them ahead that we would like a skewer for every guest. They still want us to share the skewers. They also serve us at a very slow pace, we have to keep remind them that we are ready for next dish. For every round of food, we need to tell them two or three times until they serve us. It makes me doubt that they won t start cooking until we told them to. Most importantly, I had never been to a restaurant with HOUSE POLICY that doesn t allow us to take away our left over food.

February 23, 2024

We do not recommend eating at this place. The waiter did not ask any of us if we would like to have tap or sparkling water. They did not explain the course and inform us before head that we have to finish the previous course in order to start the following ones. There is a few meals that each person should get an individual order, but the quantity is off. We had to insist that the quantity is off in order to get the rest of the orders that are missing. The courses are coming up very slowly. When we finish the entree, we asked for to go boxes, and they told us that they have a strict house policy that they do not allow any to-go food. However, as a big party of 14 who have reserved via email, and asked for detailed policy and clarification on everything, they have all the opportunities to let us know the policy way earlier. We came to this place for our friends wedding. But the waiter came in with the dessert and celebrated their anniversary . The bride had 10+ bad and forth emails letting the restaurant know the occasion, the courses, etc. yet the place messed up with the courses and the occasion .

Nice cocktails and ambiance. Took our 2.5 year old and ordered him a cheese toastie was oily, chips were overdone. Asked for a scoop of ice cream they said they only had ice cream sandwich, I asked can they not just modify and do a scoop of ice cream. Ordered the Balmain bug, zucchini flowers, rib eye and flank, garlic bread and some sides. Flank was divine, chips overdone as mentioned. Bill came, queried why there was x2 bread on bill and the ice cream sandwich was listed. I was told that s the scoop of ice cream! Which was not advised or explained to me so they just added whatever the wanted to the bill without clarifying and two breads they had just included without asking, we hadn t wanted all the bread so I was quite disappointed that they did this and when I queried they said this is how it is here. Won t be coming back again, and I dine out a lot in Sydney.

Christmas lunch at this place left me searching for the holiday spirit in each lackluster dish. With a price tag that could rival a Michelin-starred joint, the absence of a wow-factor was a glaring disappointment. The menu flaunted mediocrity, failing to justify its hefty cost. From a lemon curd overpowering caviar to Wagu beef that failed to impress more than my backyard barbecue, the culinary letdowns were numerous. Service matched the underwhelming experience, from the lack of wet towels post-seafood, late wine deliveries, to the impersonal, noisy atmosphere. This joint, fueled by casino cash, reeks of pretentious luxury, lacking any real personality. The bread was actually really good! So unless you into good bread save your money and go to a good bakery.

Would recommend woodcut for a casual catch-up only. It is your typical burn-and-churn place, identical to all the other mediocre restaurants in Barangaroo. Food was ok, but the chicken brick was rubbery. No doggy bag allowed. Amazing wine selection. Despite being at the casino (half of the restaurant is inside, but half is outside cafe style) and expecting to pay a lot more for this privilege , the price point didnt meet the quality of food. The wait staff were lovely, and the sommelier was great. The weirdly small toilets are shared with the hotel lobby, and everyone else in the world, so expect a queue, messy sinks, muddy floor and door banging to make people hurry up (I had been in toilet less than 2 mins, and someone banged on the door!). Ambience inside woodcut seemed a little nicer, however I booked to sit outside not realising it was on the main pathway, out the back of the casino. Expect high foot traffic, and a significantly more casual experience than I was expecting based off the website.

Me and my partner were hoping to celebrate our anniversary, however, our night ended swiftly. We ordered the Lamb which took over an our to make and only ended up with 2 cutlets of lamb, although we were told that the menu was designed to share, we expected large portions or the lamb. Secondly, the mustard. One of the most horrible and unpleasant sauces we have ever had. I took a spoonful for my lamb and almost had a heart attack at how spicy it was to the point I couldn t enjoy my meal and felt really sick, we weren t told that it was spicy and even after the fact we told the waiters what happened they dismissed us saying that it was spicy. They didn t even offer any compensation for what happened inside their restaurant!!!! The menu included, there was not many choices, my partner being Hindu did not have many options for what to eat as the menu mainly and predominantly consisted of beef. Food was overall mediocre, would not recommend.

A little disappointed in our experience here. Starting off with the positives, the entrees were quite delicious, came in generous portions and explored a wide variety of flavours, especially the Raw Grilled Beef, Zucchini Flowers, Burrata and the Shiitake Mushrooms. The view was great, although the layout did make it feel like you were sitting in a Disney Resort Restaurant. Unfortunately, the main feature of the dinner, the steak, was just okay, especially at this price point. Our fillets were over-salted, cooked to the wrong temperature and lacked a depth of flavour. Despite a the marble score of 5+ on the tomahawk, it was not juicy, and was cooked unevenly from rare to medium. Sauces were also mediocre, as the peppercorn had no flavour, but the bernaise, mustards and jus were fine. It was also unfortunate that one of our steaks was forgotten but we were grateful that we had overordered and the staff removed if from our bill. We also got a whole snapper, which was overcooked, dry and flavourless, which was quite disappointing. The sides also left us wanting more, with the greens lacking flavour, the chips were stale, and the hasselback potato was without any crispiness. The desserts were nice, we had the lemon meringue and the set chocolate. The nicest thing was the complimentary petit four that came with a sparkler on top for the birthday we were celebrating. Our waiter was friendly, and overall service was good, but just the overlooking of little details and lack of wow-factor in the steak for this much money have meant that we dont think we will ever go back. We can find a better experience for less elsewhere in Sydney.

7th Jan 2024 Our third visit. Brought a friend who lives in Zurich & London to show off Woodcut. Within minutes of being given the menus(approx 8.40 pm), we were approached by a staff member asking for our order and told the last order was 9pm! Then she advised that the last order was 9.15 pm! We did understand that some mains take up to 45 minutes to prepare. All that this person needed to say was that the last order was 9.15 (I wonder if it actually was!) and that shed be back in a few minutes to take our order for starters and then back at 9.10 for our mains order!) We ordered a few dishes and then encountered an absolutely non smiling waitress!!! Not even when we said Thank You. By this time we had a disaster with the white wine (we ordered a bottle of white and a red) which was nothing like we wanted and were advised by the sommelier. Fortunately we were served by Kate who was delightful! We asked to give some feedback and a lady came and introduced herself as the Asst Manager. Sadly, she was most unprepared to listen to our feedback and kept giving excuses (Cultural, Personality etc) as reasons for the enthusiasm and demeanour of the staff!!!! The three of us have jointly travelled 100+ countries and wined and dined at all types of restaurants in every major city in the world! She wasnt really interested in listening. That was the most disappointing part!! Finally, we were asked what we thought she should do to improve our experience!! This is something she should have worked out!! Our best bet was the offer for Kate to look after us for the remaining time we were there. We worked up a rather fat bill, paid and left eventually. Never has a fine dining experience been this disappointing - excellent food and ambience and let down by pathetic service! Cmom! How much is it to ask for waiting staff at a top notch restaurant to be pleasant?!!! Tell me! We are not complainers. It wasnt our intention to complain but things went from bad to worse!!! Thank heavens for pleasant Kate. Woodcut and Crown really need to pay attention to training their staff to do better! Any other top notch restaurant would have compensated us for the experience. Not Woodcut! Tell me why we should be back and why we shouldn t broadcast our ordinary experience? Sure, I am waiting to hear back from someone who understands that this was a sub par performance by Woodcut! One that you shouldn t be proud of and would want to address!!!!

Food was above average for price to taste. Atomospher is good, lovely, seat area is good, decorative, overseeing waters and boats. Service from my own experience only is above average, food can be better, only saying that because I did have better, the raw seafood dish was so so, not much taste to it because they did add seasoning etc. Had the steak as well, I would say over priced for the smaller steak, you can argue its 5+ whatever but if you cooked steak regularly you know you can get a lower grade steak and make it taste like a higher grade. Thats my experience only. I had Kobe from Japan before and other grades of wagyu etc. They did cook it to perfection but was it like wow in your mouth not quite for me, not saying its bad just above average.

Paying substantial prices for drinks and food for rats to be running around among diners and considered expected is unacceptable, particularly at Crown Sydney. There was no apology and no acknowledgement that it was not ok. Do you have a reservation ? no smile of course Someone took us to our table with a nonchalant step the person throws the jacket from the next table further onto the bench without care We were offered some water everyone was running everywhere in all directions, everyone look upset the water never arrived, Same for the menu several servers pass by the table without noticing Tonight for the first time in Sydney we got up and left the restaurant before eating / drinking something very sad to see absolutely no smile, no sense of service and welcome in a place that wants to be/ is supposed to be top of the range a new proof that there is no soul in these superstructures because nobody is able to see that something goes wrong, nobody is able to take care of us we finally found a really nice place a few meters further in a very small Asian restaurant where everybody was welcoming, quick and efficient professionalism and passion obviously cannot be recovered from a 270m high tower and big money

A nice experience without crossing into the would recommend category. We had the Sirloin along with some sides, plus desert and a glass of San Giovese The staff were pleasant, the food was well cooked and flavourful, and the decor elegant. Nothing popped though. 4 is more than fair.

From the moment we entered Woodcut, I felt welcomed. The ambience - quite organic and very comfortable really appealed to me. Every staff member was personable and vibrant. Especially Arthur! Arthur is an entertainer. He s going places Just loved him! From the moment we were welcomed, I had to admire the staff and their attitude. We were given a small tour past the different kitchens which were all impeccably set up. Sitting at the bar before our meal, enjoying the view of sparking water and lights was a delight The food was amazing. I must admit, I rarely go to this calibre of restaurant, however I appreciate quality and was really impressed at Woodcut. It was a night out in the city for a country person and I would definitely go again.

Restaurant is well decorated, excellent location by the water. Food is good but not exceptional to match the high price point. Raw fish plate was ok, grilled octopus was good. Steak was cooked perfectly. Long wait between meals, however. Cocktails were very disappointing, tasted like straight up watered down lychee from the can. The other cocktail was very lack lustre tasting like the cheap jelly drinks from the Asian grocer.. was asked many times if the dinner was for an occasion but no complimentary dessert for the occasion was provided or offered , as many other places do. Wouldn t come back & hesitant to recommend to others

Brilliant menu, a wee bit pricey but definitely worth the extra as the food and service were excellent - a brilliant dining experience. A little bit odd to have to go to the public toilets outside the restaurant tho.

Came in with high expectations but was quite hit or miss. The Delmonico Steak was great (but undersalted) but that should be a given due to the price. Potatoes & the beef tartare were great - nice textures and flavour. However the Octopus was horrid, texture like hard rubber and tasted extremely fishy - suggesting that it wasn t at all fresh. Service was mediocre, staff were mostly attentive but on seperate occasions was almost impossible to get any service. One attempt to flag down a waiter took 5mins (hand raised high and waving around), which is totally unacceptable given the price of the restaurant and the sheer amount of staff roaming around.

Thank you for seating at a premiere spot for a walk in Sunday lunch. The young Asian Australian at the service desk was incredibly polite and professional. My fiancee and I were served by a young caucasian Australian lady who made us feel at home. Simple things I enjoyed. Being welcomed. The mood explained and culinary journey plus the suggestions. Drinks were great. Watching the chefs weave culinary magic was spectacular. Food was faultless. What a great experience. Thank you to all of the staff. Highly recommended.

Overall this place is great except for the policy that they do not allow you to take left over steak home. This policy disrespects the animal that gave its life to be on the plate. We were told it was due to the risk that we could get food poisoning and that they did not have a license allowing take away: as someone who worked in the kitchen at a steakhouse for two years I thought this was completely ridiculous and it actually ruined our dinner and the vibe. We sat outside which had an annoying amount of flies (they should put fly traps out) which loved my expensive red wine twice by falling into the glass. I managed to scoop them out and the staff replaced my silverware etc.. We thought the staff were wonderful regardless and the flavour and presentation of the food were also excellent. The ironbark smoke on the meat was what attracted us and was absolutely amazing! The wine selection is also good and the som is a great help at navigating it. We def recommend this place and hope to go back soon but plan to go with a group to ensure we eat everything.. please change the policy soon!!

A Great place to dine with great food and a reasonable wine list with a knowledgeable som. The views and atmosphere is lovely. Biggest win -> smokey iron bark emanating throughout barangaroo thay can be tasted on the steak which was perfectly cooked Biggest loss -> wasting food as you cannot take your leftovers Be aware that they do not allow you to take steak left overs. We found this to be surprising because we ordered a big beautiful steak and had to leave around 75% of it. This actually ruined the dinner because it felt it is wrong: the staff made up for it but the policy is still a massive error in judgement that needs to be rectified. Poor staff for having to deal with this on the regular. Five stars other than that and we will definitely be back!!

A special thank you the chefs, the staff and all others that received us at Woodcut on the 18th November for my mates Bucks dinner. We were absolutely blown away by the food, the service and the setting provided for us. Thank you so much for sitting us in the Ironbark room, the atmosphere was wonderful and was the perfect place to enjoy our meal. You guys truly went above and beyond to make sure our mates night was special, super appreciated! Apologies for not remembering the names of our servers, but they were outstanding. Our somellier picked the most delicious wine and was a delight to converse with. The food recommended to us by our charismaric host was incredible and we enjoyed all his recommendations as well as his company and friendly banter :) To say the food was phenomenal is an understatement. I can say as someone who doesnt normally like seafood (and definitely not oysters) that they were truly incredible. It speaks to the quality of the food and the skill of the chefs that they can convert someone like me. I will be recommending Woodcut to everybody I know, you guys deserve all the recognition! Bravo!

Not at all Crowns worthy restaurant. Maybe an excellent face to rip people off. The cured meat platter is basically Coles level process meets. The stakes are chewy and nothing extraordinary. I give them the vibe, though.

Woodcut provides a culinary haven where time slows down, allowing guests to savour every moment. The delightful cocktails, perfectly cooked steaks, and flavourful sides are complemented by an inviting ambiance and impeccable service. What sets this experience apart is the unhurried atmosphere, making it a joy to linger over a leisurely 4-hour lunch with friends. Woodcut turns dining into a rich, indulgent journey, where the pleasure of good food and company takes precedence over the ticking clock.

High price point grill restaurant that is fitting for Crown Sydney. The ambience is dark yet inviting as it is suitable for an intimate date or group settings. It has an open area plan with the kitchens in full view, and also has outside seating overlooking the harbour. Service is great which is expected if you are paying top dollar. The food was delicious but cannot justify 5 stars as the food is not beyond expectations. Wide variety of wines and cocktails to choose from as well. Recommended entree being the beef tartare! Pictured: Entree: beef tartare (with parmesan and rocket), grilled black garlic bread, tropical storm cocktail, skull island tiger prawns, Yarra Valley salmon roe Main: 600g sirloin with bone in, paris butter sauce

We came here for a birthday of 10 people and we wernt let down at all , we were given the big Al pacino well thats what I called it. The steaks were cooked perfect and so were the entrees. It is a bit on the pricey side so dont forget ur wallet. Il definitely be back soon.

It is a nice restaurant. However, I went for lunch with my friend. We were there to celebrate an occasion. We had a booking. But the hosts gave us almost the worst table. Luckily my friend requested another table. They were kind to give us a better table. The food is good. But the portions are not generous. I asked for 200 gr meet and it came with 2 cherries tomatoes on the plate. I asked for a potato and just one potato. It was good. My friend had king fish and she loved it. She had one cocktail and I did not have anything since I don t drink. We had a dessert which was good as well. Overall, the restaurant is good.

Hard to fault really. The service level from pre-arrival (courtesy messages) to seating and during the meal was all impeccable. The entrees, steak and desserts amazing. The only and its with an asterisk, only negative feedback would be around the macaroni cheese dish. Not up my alley. Would love to return though.
