Update Oct 2024: came in for lunch, excellent service again, steak frites, lettuce wraps and sooo good key lime pie. Great to know we can come in for reliable good food. Excellent service (Kayli), food was just as good, chicken lettuce wraps, been vindaloo and broccoli soup. Caesars were amazing and $5 today. Will definitely be back.

I usually don t feel the need to write a review but sadly my experience was less than 1 star. I took my friend here this evening to celebrate a huge life milestone and from the minute we walked in it wasn t pleasant. Around 7:30 the restaurant had maybe 3 other tables sat in it, it was empty and when I asked to sit at a smaller booth as there was only two of us the host replied there isn t a server there (then proceeded to seat that spot after we had been sat). Then waiting 15 minutes with 4 servers passing and no one said hi or anything ( and we had full view of bar and kitchen where three other servers stood and chatted , and the bartender that looked at us multiple times and didn t come over ). After waiting another 5-10 minutes and not even being acknowledged and no drink order taken we left. When leaving the door person / or server we walked passed didn t even say bye or ask us why we were leaving. It s a shame because the menu looked so great and we were looking forward to a nice evening. We are both in the restaurant industry and usually would never complain but this was horrible service and no excuse for it.

The restaurant is upscale wirh a limited menu. The server, Alicia, was attentive and personable. The hostess eas obswrvws to partially clean a table and place a napkin over crumbsbon the table. Food presentation was great. The loaded potato soup was very salty, too much to really enjoy the flavor. The vegetables on the side of steak were cooked to perfection and very flavorable. The mashes potatoes were delicious. The sirloin was cookes to orser but somewhat tough. The key lime pie and churro sandwich were both good.

I like the restaurant although I find it in the expensive side for its prices. Decent range menu. Food quality is good but not great. I love the decor and the ambience. Their servers are helpful but I wish they would leave you alone. Despite requesting them not to bother you, they keep coming to the table asking if I need anything. If I do, I will ask. Other than that, lovely place.

Been here in my years, had a lovely experience in this warm welcoming environment with the friendly staff and chefs here also my shered salmon on the bed of veggies on-top of the risotto was decadent and the side of breaded calimari rings with the shrimp were perfectly done not rubbery at all, was a wonderful 5 star restaurant experience but pricey but no disappointment here at all was worth every cent, keep up the wonderful job everyone.

Very disappointed with the food!!! Not one person ate more than half of their entree and my son was very sick as soon as he got home!!! On top of very poor quality food, it was extremely expensive. We definitely wont be returning and I would not recommend this chain to any one.

Went there for our anniversary. Everything about the place was outstanding.

It s hit or miss in Barrie and Newmarket, most days you get excellent food and amazing drinks but the odd time you get a chef who doesn t give you enough sauce on your pasta(Barrie) or a bartender(Newmarket) who doesn t know how to make a Long Island ice tea or strawberry daiquiri. But the staff is usually always friendly, only had one waiter in Newmarket that may have been having an off day. The only time we saw him smile is when he saw his tip lol This is our go to restaurant for birthday dinners.

We dont know whos manning your kitchen but they seem to be lacking in the standards were used to from Moxies .Our waitress was great! ....cant say that about what came from the kitchen .

Great Saturday lunch experience on a patio

Firstly, food and ambience are top notch. But the service has always been fantastic. I had been coming in, probably once a week in 2023, to have a drink and food while researching for a podcast that I have. Ashley has been my server in the lounge 99% of my visits there. And she always has a warm welcoming, she always remembered my drink order, and the time between ordering my food and drinks, and actually receiving them is always so fast, and any modifications I have ever asked for have literally never been screwed up. I cannot speak for the dining room, because I have never sat anywhere but the lounge. But HIGHLY recommend. Some times I would be in there for hours researching and Ashley always checks in regularly enough that I m never left waiting. But, but it s never overkill. Highly recommend!

The service was excellent but the individual nachos were ok and the brownie bite was nasty. The menu didn t really have much and the dessert menu is missing the sticky toffee pudding. It was loud but I guess that s most places. Not sure if the menu for dinner is different but the lunch menu was not worth looking at!

Ate here once before a couple of years ago. I am always very honest in my reviews and was disappointed to have to write a very poor review. This was second visit - I like to give second chances. It was worth it. My server Jade was excellent. She was upbeat and smiled and was extremely attentive. Definitely the highlight of my visit. The food - I had calamari to start with two dipping sauces. Two years ago I had calamari that was soggy and tepid. This time it was hot and well presented. NY strip was a little overdone for my medium rare order but OK. The seasonal veggies excellent and jasmine rice good. Last time the espresso machine had failed, this time a double was no problem. If one is sensible about expectations at a themed chain restaurant Moxies can hold their head up now. Night and day - happy to write this review

I recently visited Moxies for a steak dinner, and while the food was decent, the service left much to be desired. The steak was cooked to the right temperature and had ok flavour, but it wasn t anything special just an average meal. Unfortunately, the service was what really soured the experience.

Food was really good, we are family of vegetarians and Non vegetarians, so for us it was a perfect place for Sunday lunch.. thank you Moxies :)

We are extremely disappointed in the service we experienced we had several issues with the staff and the food. We have attempted to email and call and talk to customer service or anyone So we could address what happened and get some type of resolution due to our poor experience but no one returns calls and no one replies to emails. It s very disappointing. I don t see the point about having an option to leave feedback when you get no response from anyone we ve been to several Moxies before, but this was our first time at this particular establishment and we will definitely not be returning.

Came in with my parents last night for dinner and got Jennifer as my server. We have some dietary restrictions and she seemed very knowledgeable about the menu and also clarified with the kitchen that I could eat what I wanted. Amazing service, we will definitely be returning!

First time reviewing, but have been going here for nearly 15 years. Moxies never fails to impress. Server Avery was excellent. New menu was delicious. Atmosphere is comfortable, but classy. This will continue to be a goto sport for special occasions. Dietary restrictions: Lots of gluten free options and were tuned in to my nut allergy.

I ordered the avocado and bacon salad which was supposed to come with feta cheese and it did not. Our waitress never came over to check on until we were almost done eating. I let the waitress know it did not come with cheese, she stated she wish she know she would have gotten some how could she when she never checked on us. presentation was good on the salad but comes out as a sliced head of iceberg lettuce which is difficult to cut because it ends up on the table. It was not busy and we still waited 15 minutes to a salad and tuna poke bowl. Our waitress only had one other table on the bar side who had already had their food so she spent most of her time standing around and talking. Very disappointed!

We had a great lunch, wife loved the soup Butternut Squash I had the Loaded Burger, I loved the sauce they used on the burger, and the sautéed mushrooms. The chicken fingers and fries my boys got were, well made and seasoned very well. Great experience we will be back again

I used to enjoy going to Moxies and was willing to pay the extra bit of money for good food and service. Well it seems they have let the bar fall, and now I would much rather just go to a big chain place like Kelseys or Jack Astors. We went for dinner tonight and we were seated within a minute or two which was good, but thats all that was good about our evening. Our server took over 10 minutes to come greet us and take a drink order after we were seated, and another 10 minutes to actually get the drinks. The table that was seated beside us around the same time had appitizers on their table before we even had our drinks, and it was well over 45 minutes before we got our first sniff of any food. The portions were much smaller than expected for the cost, and the grilled chicken breast I ordered looked like half a piece pounded out flat to look bigger. It was just overcooked and dry. The rest of the food was just ok at best, definately nothing to remember. The server was pleasant, but had no sense of awareness. We only saw him two times from the time we ordered to the time the bill came. I think I have had enough of this place, its just not what I would expect to get from a restaurant at its price point. Also, heres a tip...if you feel that it is absolutly necessary to have a girl dressed in tight black shirts and skirts holding the door, make sure they are presentable. The girl we had tonight had a shirt on that was so tight you could see her white bra through it like a mesh top, and the tight clothes definatly didnt give us a nice feeling as we were going in. I dont want to comment on size or personal appearance by any means, but the outfit she was wearing was not flattering or tasteful in the service industry. Definately not classy.

I asked for medium steak but I got red steak and therefore I was choking on it. Second time we went we waited half an hour for a patio table and we received a dirty one. When we asked to move us to another table the waitress said that we can t cause too many people waiting but there were 5 tables empty. Finally we left

I hadnt been to moxies in years, so I wasnt sure what to expect. But it was a fantastic experience. Wonderful recommendations from the waitress. I had the chicken rigatoni with mushrooms and my fiance had the Mahi Mahi dish. Both were delicious, but I will definitely be getting the Mahi Mahi for myself next time. That was sooo yummy!

I haven t been to this location in a decade but so glad that I did last night as it was such a great experience! The atmosphere, the drinks/food and our server Lauren was absolutely amazing such a lovely person and so good at her job! Highly recommend and am now a loyal customer! Moxies totally rocked our taste buds! Seriously, from the moment we stepped in, the vibe was just electric. But lets talk about the food oh my, where do I begin? Every dish was like a flavor explosion in my mouth, and I couldnt get enough. The creativity and quality of ingredients shone through in every bite, making it a real culinary adventure. And lets not forget about the awesome peeps working there. They were like culinary ninjas, swooping in whenever we needed anything with big smiles and friendly banter. It felt like we were hanging out with friends who just happened to be amazing at their jobs. So yeah, if youre looking for a place that nails both food and service, Moxies is where its at. Look , the steak was really hard to cut, mashed potatoes were okay. This restaurant is overpriced, period. Might as well go to Red Lobster for better food or even Mandarin, you get more for that kind of money. Servers at Moxies were pleasant, I have no complaints . The bill just didnt match the food. When I think about it again, youre paying for the beautifully designed space. Heres all the lessons taken from my dining experience here. Lesson 1 - dont ask for a well-done steak from here. Lesson 2 - go to Montanas for a deliciously prepared, well-done steak. Lesson 3 - if you want a beautiful space to look at while eating poorly cooked food, this is your spot. Final lesson I can share- becareful of their tiny portioned, lack of taste pasta.

Went for late date night apps during happy hour! Quite impressed with the quality presentation and flavour of the dishes! Our favourite was the whipped feta & roasted tomatoes. Tried the shrimp taco, black bean taco & smashed avocado dip, which had a generous portion. Overall 45$ for two! Server was friendly , helpful and kind.

Its not very often I am pleased with all aspects of a restaurant experience. This is a special exception! My server Rhodri C. was extremely professional, knowledgeable and friendly! We were tended to just right! He didnt visit too much, but also not too little!! Everything came at just the right time and he was easy to talk to. The food felt like it was made fresh and plated with care! The atmosphere on the dinning side is private but also open, its the perfect combination! What an awesome experience! I would gladly come back here!

This was such an inviting place. The atmosphere was just great, not bright, just right. The food was amazing, at least what I had.

Used to be one of our go to places in Barrie. Would no longer recommend. Stopped in for lunch with the family. Ordered a Southern & Pepsi. Was informed they only had Coke. Not ideal, but it happens, fine. Server comes back, apparently they dont have Southern. Makes me start to question what type of bar theyre running. Ask for a few minutes, order a Heineken. Its on their list. Comes back, no Heineken, but they have Heineken 0. In other words, flavoured water. With each time she returns, the server seems to be more condescending as if their lack of supplies is somehow tied to us. It went quick from the tip heading to zero, to us simply calling it quits and heading elsewhere. Truly a shame as they used to be spectacular. Now the place isnt worth so much as a second thought. As a side note, when your customers are about to walk out, the least you can do is perhaps send over a manager.

Danielle was the very very best and the Management Team at Moxies. Someone slashed the tire on my car after we sat and waited for a parking spot and he tried to steal it. We sat at Moxies for an appetizer and a drink to wait for help, new tire etc. Danielle, our waitress was amazing, came by to say so so sorry and took the wine off the bill, who does that? We will come back to Moxies again in the Georgian Mall, like the song says, Most People Are Good .

Blue collar customers. First time here. Broccoli soup taste burnt. Our server, who was delightful, disappeared for a while (must have been on break), leaving us waiting for take out container and bill as we eat quick and had to hurry home. No one else engaged with us while we were impatiently waiting. Servings are sharable size... Between the two of us, we ordered: 1 alcoholic beverage each -weak double, pot stickers, broccoli soup, ceaser salad, sweet potato fries, and 2 steak dinners. Finished most (left one pot sticker, soup, and 1/4 of the fries) all delicious minus the soup. It happens. Took home half a steak each. Werent able to order a non alcoholic beverage until server returned while asking for bill. Vibe and atmosphere was great. Again, server was pleasant and delightful just bad timing I assume. We will return. Parking: Got a spot front and center the main entrance. Wheelchair accessibility: Wheel chair Button. Nice entrance.
