Got Eggs Benny on Uber Eats and I must say - TOP NOTCH. I will be ordering again . Yummy!
I thought this place was great! Had an amazing breakfast and the service was fantastic! Very rare nowadays...menu looks great and will certainly go back and recommend. Not sure what the trolls problems are...I imagine just trolls being trolls...the place in nit in the least bit run down and is actually very nice...good spot for a date even! This place has everything. The only thing I would agree on is that my side bacon was very greasy and I think would present better without the lettuce leaf...the hot bacon makes it wilt and not looks so good. Was a bit strange however the bacon that came with my meal, on the plate was absolutely perfect! 5 stars for that alone. Either way it was all delicious, way more than I could eat so had to take home a doggy bag and the desserts...they look so good I had to get one for later. Keep up the good work...I'll be back for some of the weekday specials for sure!🤘😁👍
The food and service were excellent. Many choices but you can always go with the daily special. I will visit again and definitely try brunch with family
Popped in to try their fish and chips Haddock was nice a bit on the thin side, with a great portion of fries, I wasn't crazy about the coleslaw or cabbage salad ( not sure what to call it) The place is quite nice, the service was friendly
Best place we could ever have stopped at!! Definitely a must stop by and definitely need to meet Alana. Best personality and the service this young lady provides is incredible to say the least. The food is perfect also! 5 stars and more. Thank you guys for making our morning!
There was nothing glaringly wrong with this experience, a Teriyaki Salmon Salad Bowl is fairly simple to be honest and hard to go wrong. My biggest concern was the lack of portion size in relation to the dish and thought there was really if any, zero value for money I cannot believe before tax this dish is almost thirty bucks for the smallest Teriyaki Salmon fillet portion.
Symposium Cafe Restaurant Barrie offers a fantastic Sunday special for families: kids eat free! It's a great deal that allows families to enjoy a tasty meal together without breaking the bank. With a variety of delicious options on the menu, there's something for everyone to enjoy. The welcoming atmosphere and attentive service make it a perfect choice for a relaxed family outing.
The food was incredible! Everything was cooked to perfection. Absolutely beautiful place but not too big or noisy. The portions were incredibly big. The only concern was the washroom cleanliness in the women's washroom was not good. Other than that our waitress was very nice and extremely accommodating.
This place makes one of the best Ceasars Ive ever had. Food is tasty, the atmosphere is nice and very chilll and wonderful service people! Always a pleasure to have a meal here.
I used to love this place. We were in the area and stopped in for late lunch. We waited a LONG time for very poor quality food. Disappointed is an understatement. Dont get the Chicken Club or the Tuscan Bean soup. Womens bathroom was a shambles. The toilet wasnt bolted to the floor! The place feels like its falling apart. Waitress was sweet. Too bad about the food and everything else.
Great place for breakfast 10/10 would eat again!
Our experience today with a friend to catch up and have breakfast unfortunately was not a good experience. Food came cold and hair in my friends food. Although we where not charged for her meal and replaced with another one, we where both turned off to eating at that point.
Excellent food and service along with screen and noise free dining. Save room for dessert.
Didnt have food so couldnt rate that. Great staff member that served us. Service
Great food, great staff!!
We went here for dinner and the new menu is really impressive. The chef Dale, who cooked for us, is very friendly and has talent in the kitchen. Its definitely a good restaurant to try in Barrie.
Used to come here once in a while. Figured we would stop in for breakfast this morning and was absolutely shocked by the prices. Nearly $19 for bacon and eggs and almost $20 for avocado toast? No thanks, will stick with my regular spots.
The food was good, lots of variety on the menu
Good spot for some late night food. Less of a cafe, and more of a full out restaurant. Quick service & good food.
The presentation was wonderful! We ordered the dinner for two! The calamari was perfect! Unfortunately our chicken & steak meals were so salty! Salt was everywhere! On the vegetables etc. I am so disappointed! We were frequent people in the Aurora location! Please we live close to here now! Stop all the salt! Thanks again! The server was very nice! It could be an excellent location! Something is wrong in the kitchen! Thanks again!
Delivery always have to wait 20 mins over the actual pick up time Food
Their Alfredo pasta is garbage and they use granulated Parmesan, you might as well bring your own. They also use Kraft brand salad dressing. And this part is very important, don t bother tipping because the managers Julia and Shiju Mathew keep over half of the tips to themselves. They re deceptive crooks who couldn t care less about running a good restaurant
Very cozy place and delicious waffles
Experience was less impressive with our most recent visit. Outside patio suffering from decay, inside banquet seating torn. One server on a Friday morning at 8:30am. Six customers. A Sunset Grill location nearby has closed. Maybe not a good location? Omlette and potatoes were good. Ordered rye toast, got wheat, with margarine - no butter. :(
-Service was great and the waitress was attentive. She gets 5 stars. Well done. -Food was subpar. While it was delicious and was well proportioned it was lacking in a few areas. 1: the quality was equal to any other restaurant that served breakfast, but the prices were near double. 2: the picture in the menu for the item that was ordered, showed an orange slice. When we asked why that was not present on our plate, we were told Most people don t eat it the waitress however was still very pleasant. 3: we were going to add a side bowl of fruit until we saw the price. $7.50 for a small bowl of fruit that was mostly melon. It had a single sliced strawberry on top and a few, thinly cut pieces of banana. 4: the diced potatoes that came with the meal did not look freshly made. They resembled the diced potatoes you would get from a frozen pre-cut bag. -Atmosphere was quaint. Quiet, chill music was playing. We chose to sit at a booth but these seats were less than comfortable. Not only did they feel like a thin, lumpy blanket over a piece of wood, but it was also very tattered. -While my last point is not something most people consider when choosing a restaurant, I did not care for all the single-use, pre packaged items served with the meals. Table syrup in a sealed, pre packaged, plastic container instead of a refillable dispenser. Also the hot sauces were served in plastic tubs instead of their original container.
Unique beautiful restaurant good food
Our favorite date spot, amazing food, and the cakes are to die for (highly recommend the hummingbird cake!!) Its such a lovely atmosphere, and we find it amazing that its not over stimulating with music and tvs like most restaurants!
Good food, good service. Love the zucchini bowl
Alana was a gem, went here for breakfast, she was a ray of sunshine. Big beautiful smile and the best positive energy. Great food, fantastic atmosphere
I ordered calamari with a martini. The calamari was well seasoned and cooked to perfection just that most of the pieces were small. The martini was absolutely delicious. I loved it. Parking: I did not count the number of spots available but it is in a Plaza so there is a lot of parking available. Wheelchair accessibility: The sidewalk is wheelchair accessible.
Excellent customer service.
First time trying this place was absolutely a horrible experience I ordered the fish and chips a d the fish was over cooked the fries were under cooked then they gave us our choice of a replacement meal for the same price so I ordered the steak fettuccine and the meal was horrible as well the presentation and the food was horrible sauce was watery and not tasteful at all the lady told us we didnt have to pay so we got up and left I feel the person in the kitchen needs more training to authenticate the food properly and how it used to be made the fish tasted like the oil hasnt been changed in well over a month or more will never return to the location again absolutely a bad experience all around
So I have regularly frequented this establishment and I m not even writing this review to bash the restaurant but to let the owner know that the cook he had on today really needs more training. I ordered the chicken and fries and my fiancé got the fish and chips, both were burned but the fried were under cooked. The server was great and offers us something else she said she had received complaints about those items today so I got the steak bites but they were terribly salty and also burned and he got the Alfredo but the steak was under cooked and sauce was just oil with no cream. At that point we tried to eat but I feel bad to say I felt like I was forcing it down rather than enjoying the dish. I just feel bad about the whole situation and enjoy the restaurant and look forward to enjoying the great atmosphere again I hope you can get this sorted so others don t feel the same.
Aurora is a great server, we would come back again!!
We had broccoli pasta and coffee. Both were good. It is nice and warm place. Service was good and Yesha was professional and cordial.
Disappointed. One of the worst restaurant experiences we ve had in Barrie. Ordered a chicken parm sandwich with Tuscan bean soup. The soup was so bad I couldnt eat it. Chicken parm was okay but the bun disintegrated in my hands. There are many better places to eat. NOT recommended.
I really enjoy coming to Symposium, the atmosphere is so great and the servers Yesha, Gabriella and Stephanie are amazing .
The chef liked our cars so much he gave us an order of bacon for our dog.
My recent experience at Symposium Cafe left much to be desired, particularly regarding their handling of allergies. Despite clearly stating my allergy to nightshades, especially tomatoes and peppers, my teriyaki chicken bowl was served loaded with green peppers. The kitchen attempted to rectify the mistake twice, first omitting the chicken and then repeating the error with the peppers. The chefs response seemed apathetic, merely stating that the sauce couldnt be made without peppers, without offering alternatives or showing understanding for my situation. Unfortunately, the lack of accommodation for my allergy led to discomfort and potential health risks. The restaurant offered no compensation for their oversight, and the chefs comment about not being able to eat anything on the menu was disheartening. While the waitstaff was pleasant, the overall experience left me hesitant to return. I hope Symposium Cafe takes allergies more seriously in the future to ensure the safety and satisfaction of all their customers.
Amazing all around. Food was so good , service was also amazing , and the place was beautiful we will definitely will be coming back Stephanie was our waitress and she was so kind and friendly. Definitely check this place out if you havent. Highly recommend
Everything was amazing came for our 7 yr anniversary breakfast to fuel up for the day and man did they deliver this place was amazing food service hats off to this place.
First let me start with the positive. The waitress was really lovely She was patient and checked on us often. The fish and chips were not bad at all. But my ribs tasted like it walked through the valleys and shadows of death multiple times before hitting my plate. And when my soda water arrived in my pre-seasoned cup lipstick stained cup I almost passed out myself...
I went with my boyfriend, we both loved the food and service, our waitress was Stephanie, she was amazing, so sweet, friendly and patience, we would definitely come back and recommend to our fiends and family Parking: es muy amplio y queda cerca Kid-friendliness: hay opciones de comida para niños y también vasos con tapas para que no derramen
Stephanie was our server and she was just a joy! Super kind and bubbly 10/10 service from her Vegetarian options: Lots of Different things on the menu to choose from Dietary restrictions: Works with you Kid-friendliness: Great options for my little man
Went for Mothers day brunch. Excellent food and service.
Aurora, our server, really extended herself to understand our needs and make the experience positive!
Dinner at the Symposium this evening was fabulous. There were 4 of us and we had a very enjoyable relaxed evening with great food. The service we received from Yesha was outstanding. She was an absolute joy to speak with and we received everything promptly. Not the first time we have been here, one of our favourite places. Cant wait to come back!
Delicous
Private place for a delicious breakfast. A little more expensive but to be expected as a little more upscale. I d call it a special place to relax and enjoy breakfast with a friend. Dietary restrictions: Gluten-friendly options.
Great food and better specials.
We visited the Barrie Symposium today, Easter Sunday, for lunch after church, with a family party of eight, two children and one adult in a wheelchair. The access was good, the food was good, and our server, Alanna, was very courteous, helpful, and accommodating making our family experience enjoyable. It was our second time visiting here and will be back. Wheelchair accessibility: Very easy to get in and around. Highly recconend it!
Very disappointed. I come to symposium for the cake slices. Theyve always been delicious but tonight I was let down. The inside of the strawberry shortcake is still frozen two hours later, I thought these cakes were fresh. The chocolate cake is dry and flavourless, no taste distinction from a store bought one. For the price I could have bought two grocery store cakes.
Great atmosphere, Barrie needs more places like this..and fantastic food
First visit to Symposium yesterday. There was 3 of us and we sat in a booth and all ordered breakfast. I found the atmosphere very relaxing..the service was great and the food was perfect. 5 stars for everything. I plan to go back again very soon.
Hidden gem, and the service is excellent, Stephanie is great and always so pleasant, greets us with a smile.
Amazing service from Stephanie!
Great & quick as usual. Food excellent. Just the way I like it. Thanks Parking: No issues, lots of space available
They make uber eats drivers wait a long time for orders to be ready. Simply unprofessional.
Steph was such a great server! She made our experience even better, after a whole day of hard work at home on a Sunday she made it really easy for us. Food was fabulous. Thanks!!
Last night I had a pathetic experience as one of the hostess just refused to provide us with any service even though it was half an hour earlier then closing. Even when we agreed on getting a takeout she literally said we cannot make waffles right now I have a lot to do . The tone she had was so rude. She was black long haired young woman. I need the management to take an action on it immediately.
First time ever eating here and I ll never be back. Tried calling for take out multiple times and no one answered. Went into symposium to find there s one server for the entire restaurant so I understood why the phone wasn t being answered. She was doing her best. The reason this is one star was the food, I ordered two omelettes to go. There was maybe 3 olives, 3 tomato s and two pieces of zucchini in my omelette. It wasn t made with more than 2 eggs, was crispy on the bottom and looks like was just thrown in a to go box with no care. You d expect after paying (with a tip) $50 for two omelettes they would be a sufficient portion and made well ..wrong. I won t be back and everyone should consider getting takeout from here carefully.
This chain has beautiful options, however.....not the type of place that can accommodate large groups. Food took 55 minutes to arrive, kitchen staff are extremely slow, front of house manager just walked around saying ya, ya, ya . Table service staff did their best considering. And they automatically added 18% tip!!
What a great restaurant. Definitely coming back.
If , i had an option to give a 0 rating I would!!! Firat, i asked for San pellegrino ( Sparkling water) she aaked me 6oz or 9oz. Then , all of us got confused . I had to call the server and correct her. She apologized about it. Second thing my boyfriend ordered Pitcher of Beer and 2 glasses as we were sharing the pitcher of Beer. The server comes to the table with the Tall glass of beer with two glasses on the table. I don t know who is giving them smart serve??. Where in the world someone is going to share a beer from a Tall glass. Then we ordered the spinach dip for appetizers. The only thing i could taste was sour cream . Disgusting. At this point we were ready to leave . Then , the server comes and says we are all out of our rice for the stirfry you ordered!!. Then we changed it to pesto pasta. Omggg . How do you even serve something that is just un edible!!!! I feel sorry for this place!!
Food was not at all good pesto fettuccine was terrible. Please improve the plating style and food was not worth the money
The Food was really amazing. The service was also really good . Really enjoyed. Definitely Coming back and im referring to my friends too.
Great desserts and the Mule was fantastic.
Very friendly service! Food was great. Would definitely come back again to this location. Vegetarian options: Grilled flatbread was great. Parking: Nice and close by the door
My son bought me this gift certificate for Xmas and came here to the Barrie location for the first time with my other son visiting from BC. We ordered 3 dishes to share and were very happy with the whole meal. Will be back again. Wonderful waitress Stephanie.
Muscles are very good, the menu has lots of options.
Really enjoyed my meal here
Aurora is a fantastic server.
Aurora and Yesha are so friendly and accomodting!!
Aurora and Yesha tonight were excellent!! Best service. We will be back!!
Good food, fair prices, great staff. Everything seemed clean and tidy. The menus are almost comically large (in physical size) but it makes them easier to read. My friend and I had a good laugh comparing that to the diner in Schitts Creek, but this place is no dive. Recommended dish: Eggs benedict
Quiet restaurant with good food and reasonably priced luncheon at a hidden corner near TD
Worst food...they didnt have potatoes available at the restaurant....Portuguese chicken was extremely dry and cold like card board. The waitress was moping the floor over and over near the place where we sat and had bad smell. Overall extremely bad experience will never go again.
dessert
Nice place to have breakfast. Their meals are quite good but wont be the best youve had. Their carrot cake is really good and worth saving room for.
We had the seafood pasta and it was delicious. Parking: Lots of free parking. Food : 5/5 |
My girlfriend and I stopped in for dessert, and we were not disappointed! The desserts are tasty, and the the service is pretty good as well. The overall ambience also helps to better the experience all around!
Great place to have breakfast. Large portions, which I love. Server was friendly and the place was nicely decorated, lots of room and its also very clean
One of the worst dining experiences I ve had in quite some time. Ordered a stir fry w portobello mushrooms on jasmine rice and a glass of Montepulciano. Received something that resembled a Mexican rice dish that had some type of red sauce, tiny pieces of chopped green pepper and a few slices of white mushrooms. Farthest thing from a stir fry I ve ever seen. I Sent the dish back and ordered a plate of fries since most in my part were already half way through their meal and I didn t want to make them wait. When it was time for payment I noticed that the server charged me for a glass of valpolicella (twice the price of the wine I ordered). I naturally had to point out the error and received massive attitude. I have sent food back approximately 4 times in my lifetime and have never been overcharged. This place was terrible!
I want to buy some couple tints in bed. It was okay could quality. Food
Pretty sure I got scammed. The server added stuff to my bill and tipped herself already when she handed me the bill. She then kept my money when I payed and didn t ask if I wanted change.
Menu is absolutely enormous which means everything is cheap and frozen and you can taste the low quality. We got a burger and fries and some flatbread and it wasnt very good. It was food. Fries and burger patty tasted just like the frozen ones you get at the supermarket. Our server was very nice though! I would not recommend coming here because it seems like the type of place that does a lot but doesnt do anything well.
Was very nice. do recommend
Absolutely horrible experience. Brought me the wrong food the 1st time, thats ok they went to fix it. Brought me the wrong food a second time! And didnt notice until I had gone up to get the waitress myself. At this point everyone had finished their food already and I didnt. The best the manager could offer was to take the meal I didnt get off the bill... I have never experienced that at a restaurant - where someone sits there for an hour and does not get to eat. When we go to complain about the bill the managers look at us like we have two heads and everything is ok cause they took the food i never got off the bill. leaving here absolutely disgusted and disappointed.
Have been here twice and we loved it! Great food, staff friendly and accommodating.
The food is delicious and no words to discribe the waitress I totally recommend and the wine is 50% every Friday.
Went for lunch on Friday, waited an hour for our order to be taken, food came cold, pasta dry and crunchy on the top, the zucchini, peppers etc were chopped so small, you could hardly see! Really disappointed, waiter did nothing! Bad customer service!! Vegetarian options: Very disappointed, food was horrible! Service was slow.
Terrible wait time for a simple coffee and dessert. No apology or any concern. Dessert was awful, had the brownie and it was dry and crumbled all over the plate. Not sure what the wait time was for! I feel it was sitting for days. We will not be back.
Trinity is the best!! Super attentive, friendly and makes great recommendations.
Always good service when we go. Great selection and prices. Very accommodating.
I have been to this location a few times, however, this was by far the best experience. The reason was because our server, Trinity, was amazing. Friendly, kind and helpful she made our experience great. Thank you for all of your hard work Trinity!!!
Our server Trinity is one in a million. She pays attention to detail and is not afraid to help you find the best meal on the menu. I will be going back as the food is amazing too.
Dakota, Kayla and Nikki deserve a raise.
Best restaurant in town and the cutest servers! Dakota, Nikki and Kayla are a lot of fun, if you see them say Hi from Gord and Kody.
Slow service, mediocre food
Ordered a chicken Cesar wrap. Barely any chicken in it. Service was slow. Do not eat here
Fantastic service and food Great atmosphere Food
Waitress was very ignorant and insulting
I really liked this little hidden gem. Their Caesar salad is to die for! And their affogato is really good. Theres a free parking in the front. Perfect spot for romantic dinners, not so much for big parties
Julie (owner) is very rude to staff, often not giving servers their tips from my own personal experience. I have heard this from multiple people who have worked there. They are almost degrading and make employees feel bad for mistakes that are made. I do not recommend supporting this business
Great food, service& price. Very impressed. Will definitely be back. Like that you have an outdoor sitting area.
We had a wonderful meal here. And the carrot cake was fantastic. Paisley was our waitress and she was attentive and kind and made us feel like very valued customers. Symposium is definitely our go to restaurant in Barrie! Thank you for a great dining experience! Parking: So great to have parking right by the restaurant. It was a cold night so we appreciated not having to walk far from the car!
Food was great! Vegetarian pad Thai was awesome!
The table was dirty and we asked twice to clean it up. THE SALOMON was not fresh and tasted bad ,when we ask to change it for chicken they just took out the fish and put a chicken, and my chicken was dry and smell with fish! I was here a year ago and the food and service was awesome but now I dont think we gonna come here again!!!
The best burger in town! It was my first visit on Friday night and even though they were busy I was well taken care of. The hospitality is next to none. Alana was our server and I believe the manager said her name was paisel. They both took such good care of my girlfriend and I. We will be back
Alana is the best server in the world
Best kept secret in Barrie. Excellent on all counts. Consistent kitchen and the staff are amazing.
A very nice place with a friendly environment! Food was delicious and a server was good) Definitely recommend to visit!
Good food good service. Would recommend
Very good food great service
Our food was overall okay, thought some was salty, and someone tried Chicken Waffles for their first time. Alana the server was amazing. My friend told her that the food was okay, just that Chicken Waffles didnt seem like it was her personal preference. This server went out of her way to make sure we were served well despite that! Amazing for Alana. The food might just be a little overhyped. The Symposium Iced macchiato, and Italian sodas were really great! Highly recommend those. Parking: Tons of parking in front of other businesses, Symposium is at the end of the strip. Wheelchair accessibility: My friend was able to access the restaurant, and staff were very accommodating to move chairs.
Beautiful, cozy place. Salads are delish . I had the Teriyaki Salmon Salad and my friend had the BBQ Chicken. We were both full with the portions. Staff was friendly and attentive. They allowed us to sit and chat for a while. Nice to place to hang out with friends and family as well. Parking: Huge plaza outside
Great service from our server Gabriella!
Delicious food! Great service! Amazing dessert!
Went here for the first time tonight. Was delighted to see that they offered Sleeman Draught on their drink menu since no other restaurant seems too. The food menu was rather large which worried me at first but both the appetizers and main course were both incredibly delicious. Our table shared the Bruschetta and it was absolutely delicious. I loved how they used a pita style bread for it. For my main, I ordered the Butter Chicken Poutine. Butter chicken isnt something I find myself ordering at restaurants a lot but tonight I took a gamble and ordered it. It certainly paid off. Overall, I was very pleased.
This is an amazing place to kick back for a couple of hours after a hard day at work or just to relax with a a few friends. The live music was phenomenal. The meal I had was delicious and the service was excellent. The staff very friendly and make you feel very welcomed. Definitely will be back to enjoy the beautiful patio.
I came tonight with my Girlfriend and we had the best service from Dakoda. Will be back. Good food and great service. Very attentive server and manager named Paisely.
Restaurant was busy making us think the food must be good. It was just meh.
We traveled through Barrie today and stopped for a light lunch at symposium cafe restaurant. Colleen was a breath of fresh air with a big smile. Lunch was the perfect size as we still have two more hours on the road. Colleen was friendly and her service was 10 out of 10. Thank you. Doug and Brenda Dawson
Had a wonderful server and the food was great.
Had lunch with the girls, and while it was nice having the patio to ourselves, the service was painfully slow despite the restaurant being empty - it took over 40 minutes to get our appetizer, which was tasty (spinach dip). The other food was not great, the Alfredo sauce tasted like mushroom water and the veggie wrap spices were unbalanced and dry. The iced cappuccino has chunks of ice in it, it was not blended enough. The server did fully comp the fettuccine Alfredo which was appreciated. Unfortunately we won t be back.
Great yummies for your mummys on mothers Day. Quick service and good portions.
Went early in the morning for an eggs benedict, was absolutely delicious!
Hit and miss on menu items, otherwise nice place to eat.
Blond beautiful girl give me good service
Great value for a wonderful family dinner!
They need more professional and welcoming waitress. Symposium of other cities have a higher quality in their customer service and this one has very non friendly waitresses!
Great restaurant. Very underrated as compared to the menu, quality of the food, service and ambience it offers. The owner of the Barrie restaurant accommodated our group of 20 ladies and let us create a special event for the event. That was very entrepreneurial and client service oriented.
Great atmosphere. I loved the fish and chips. Service was something to be concerned about. waitress was in her own world forgetting stuff all over the place. Other then that a little expensive for the dinner but ok.
Yesha did a great job, covering a big table of 16. Service and food was really good.
Food is amazing and staff are super friendly. Prompt and courteous service, large menu selection (something for everyone) and delicious breakfast/lunch options (we have not tried the dinner menu as of yet). The owner is a delight and very involved with customers and staff alike. My Dad and I discovered this special spot when my Mum was ill. After Mum passed, my Dad and I make this spot our go-to place for breakfast and lunch dates. Julie....thank you for the kindness shown to both my Dad and myself.
The food was delicious, thankfully because the service was near non existent. However, I don t blame the server herself (she was extremely overwhelmed and had zero support staff). The quality of the food saved this experience luckily but I must say as a bartender and supervisor myself that the management needs to better staff for the level of guests on a Sunday brunch hour.
Bad food.
I ordered food through SkipTheDishes. I spent over $90. It all went in the garbage. The worst food I ve ever had. The soup was less than half a cup and it literally was milk with potatoes dumped in it. All the food was stone cold. The potatoes were burnt. The rice was horrible and the chicken rubbery and tasteless. Thought I would splurge and treat ourselves (2 people) and now money is gone and food is in the garbage. They should be ashamed to service such horrible food.
We went to lunch at the symposium restaurant in Barrie, ON. As we entered, we were promptly seated, given our choice of place. As the menus arrived, it was a huge choice of breakfast, lunch, or dinner. See the pics and decide on yourself! We ordered fish & chips, pork ribs & chicken wings. Our choice was right. Delicious food and presentations were great. Owner Julie took extra care for us, very friendly staff. It was a great place to dine with a great ambiance.
We ate at the outdoor patio. Very spacious and clean. Pleasant server and fast, friendly service. Will definitely go back
Came here with my girlfriend for an afternoon lunch. Food is low quality! Not fresh! I had the Teriyaki Salmon definitely gross definitely frozen flavour was bad. Veggies were greasy no flavour. My girlfriend had the Veggie flatbread and coleslaw. Flatbread was ok but nothing special. Mediocre at best. Coleslaw was flavourless as well. The free iced water was the best part of our experience today.
Amazing food with great prices. Loved the cafe mocha, butter chicken poutine and French toasts. Must visit! Food
Wonderful service!
Food was good. Wait staff was quick and friendly. A little pricey for us but there are daily deals that would definitely be worthwhile.
Service is always great and the desserts are amazing
Excellent service from Yesha at the Barrie location! Very friendly and helpful with recommendations. Had a great experience. Vegetarian options: Zucchini noodles were awesome!!
The staff are always attentive.
Worst food
Clam Chowder was good except for potatoes not fully cooked.
I recently had the most amazing time at Symposium in Barrie, and Ive got to say, it deserves a solid five stars! As soon as I walked in, the folks there greeted me with the warmest smiles and made me feel right at home. Symposiyums vibe is fantastic its got this fancy yet cozy feel thats perfect for a romantic date night or just hanging out with friends. Now, lets get to the grub! Symposium takes food to a whole new level. Their menu is like a worldwide food adventure, and every dish is a true work of art. I kicked things off with their Butter Chicken Poutine, and let me tell you, it was a flavour explosion. For my main course, I went for the California Chicken, and it was cooked to absolute perfection. The chicken was so tender and juicy. My dining buddy tried the BBQ Ribs and Wings, and they were just as amazing juicy and bursting with flavour. The service at Symposium is top-notch. The staff is super friendly, and attentive, and they know their menu inside out. They made us feel like VIPs all night, making sure our dining experience was perfect. To end our meal, we treated ourselves to the Apple Caramel Crumble dessert. It was like a sweet symphony in our mouths, and it was the perfect way to wrap up an already incredible meal. In a nutshell, Symposium in Barrie is a foodie paradise that Id recommend. With its cool ambiance, mouthwatering dishes, and fantastic service, its a solid five-star spot in my book. I cant wait to go back and explore more of their menu. Thanks, Symposium, for an unforgettable night!
Went for brunch with my cousin. Lunch was delicious Had the avocado toast with fruit bowl. Food
Great place to meet up with old friends. Breakfast is also nice on the patio. Food
Its always a great breakfast. This time we had lunch. Took 45 min to get 3 meals. Hamburger buns rock hard from sitting under the heat lamp. No idea why it took this long. They were burgers Just come for breakfast.
We come weekly for breakfast and service and food are always fantastic.
Our servers name was Stephanie, she was absolutely wonderful. She was very friendly and came over frequently. She offered more coffee and crackers for our soups. She was very friendly and down to earth. The food was wonderful! It was delicious and a good portion for the price. Im so glad to see Symposium is back to normal this is my favourite place to go. This place had lost its good food and service for a while but its now back to being wonderful! Thank you Symposium!
Absolutely excellent lunch and service for our ladies get-together! We had an excellent day!
Excellent and great staff!!!
Unfortunately I went here for dessert, and it was the worst dessert I ve ever had at a restaurant. It was really disappointing because this is where I first met my boyfriend and I had gotten a cheesecake which was really good. We went back for our anniversary and I decided to go with the S mores & More cookie. I ve gotten something like this at other places, and the cookie is always really good, warm or at least chewy. This cookie was awful. It was hard and flavourless. Hopefully the other things on their menu are better, and I just picked something that wasn t good.
Wanted to treat myself and ordered the hummingbird cake on uber which costed something like $14! It was gross and eggy tasting - what a waste
I had an event near by and have had symposium closer to where I live. I was able to connect with the Owner (Julie) to coordinate the food. She and her team were fantastic from start to finish! Food was great and everyone was praising the food. We had 50+ people at our event and the Symposium team NAILED IT!!!
Very delicious... delicious desserts. good place
Great selection, big portions, and wonderfully amazing tasting food. Zucchini chicken bowl and brownie cheesecake to die for! We will definitely be back! Food
Overall terrible experience. Menu is overwhelming large, didnt have over half the drinks on the menu. We were only there 40 minutes before leaving, 2/4 of us didnt get drinks, table not cleaned properly, when we asked for the bill for the one beer brought to the table ( that took 25 minutes to get) couldnt even bring us the bill. Had to leave cash and leave. Awful experience and service.
5 stars all around for Symposium Cafe. I have never had bad service here, the staff is amazing and the food is always amazing and delicious. Its a hidden gem in Barrie and Id love to get the word out so more people go.
Me and my girlfriend love this lil hide away ...clean ..great food and professional staff
Awesome service. Great food .. good prices.
We waited a good while for are dinner. My food was cold. The bathroom was very dirty. But the desert was great. Parking: Not a lot for parking
My first visit was not a good one. The fruit had clearly been left out because the bananas were brown and I found a fruit fly in my bowl of fruit. Mine and my daughters cappuccinos had no flavour and were almost completely white because there was so much milk. My waitress had them remade and they came back completely the same. Everything from the food to the coffee is not worth the price.
Tried this place after hearing it was good from friends. I ll be for sure coming back. I had the best Latte of my life, prepared by Ancy.
I came into this location for my first time yesterday. Our server Alanna was amazing! We had the new southwestern chicken Benedict and it was phenom. And my husband had farmer sausage Benedict and I would highly recommend them to anyone that loves bennies. Alanna served us with a smile, was attentive to our needs and even when I spilled my coffee she tried to help me out. We need more servers like her. Thank you very much and we will for sure be back.
Nice ambiance , very polite and happy to serve kinda staff .. long list of menu with tasty food. Its good place to hand around with friends.
What a great restaurant. Atmosphere is awesome. Fresco style Paintings on the walls. Servers have all been nice and courteous. Food - I like their breakfasts the best. They know how to poach eggs , and many other breakfast spots in town clearly do not. I recommend- 2 egg breakfast or omelette or eggs Benny. The lunch or dinner mains are less impressive IMO but still decent.
Ive ordered from Symposium a number of times. Ive always enjoyed their fish and chips. I received an order recently (using Uber Eats) that was simply not up to the standards Im used to from this location. The portion of fries was 1/3 of what I got last time. Barely covering a quarter of my plate. (Normally I have half a plate of fries!) The fish is not at the same standard as well. Thin and lightly battered. Spoke to the manager and he ensured me this was a normal portion size. Well, Im not sure when that changed, but needless to say Im not impressed. It takes a lot to get me to register my complaints, but felt I had to with the price I paid! I will not be ordering from Symposium again!
Poutine was good But drinks: latte and cappuccino did not taste good
Thought I d give this place a try for a coffee/dessert and what a horrible experience. Poor customer service, coffee was disgusting. Dessert took so long to come out. Washroom was nasty dirty. Won t be going back.
Amazing service and food. Alanna always gives the best service with a smile and my breakfast is always amazing. The morning cook always does an amazing job. Food is always delicious and always super fast. One of my favourite spots
One of my favourite places too goo. The desserts are delicious and the atmosphere is amazing. The servers and cooks always do an terrific job! Recommend this place to everyone!
I went to symposium Barrie one night and the food was amazing me and my brother had ordered the fish and chips, medium cooked steak with chips and a bowl of chicken wings my friend is a vegetarian and she ordered the Zukini noodles and was very tasty. me and my friend were very impressed with the customer service I will be definitely coming back Vegetarian options: My friend is a vegetarian and she ordered the zukini noodles and very much enjoyed them she said the were not to sweet or too salty Parking: The parking was very easy it was a very busy night and there were plenty off spots to park
Great spot to hit before going to the movies! Good food with a decent beer selection!
Alana was awesome! Highly recommend
Service very friendly and personable.
A nice quiet place for the family and extended family. Lots of different options on the menu to choose from all prepared and executed nicely. The drinks will not disappoint although the mojitos could use more mint. The bathrooms could be cleaner. The restaurant decor is interesting and gives off great vibes. The restaurant as a whole was very clean and sanitary. The overall experience at this location is a good value
The worst service and the worst food. literally horrible
This is a really great place with ambiance. I loved the delicious breakfast which is in quantity with the price they charge.. on sundays, kids eat free .
Their chicken soup is the best Ive ever had.
Parking: Plenty of parking Tea is Very Expensive. $4.50 for one bag. And very few tea choices. I was offered Earl Grey, camomile and green tea. Lady Grey was not availble. Plain black orange pekoe not offered. Waaay too much to pay for a tea bag and water. At least the water was hot and served in a ceramic pot that had a half lid - so the water had a chance to stay warm.
