This used to be a decent place until I was accosted and beat by another patron for no reason. The staff watched blank faced as the whole thing rolled out and then reacted angrily to my social media post a month later confessing the incident. The Barrie police did nothing at all to address the issue except to say it was a consensual fight. The staff know very well I do not fight and always pay my bills, but they took this as an opportunity to treat me as a stranger. If you want to spend your money at an establishment and then be treated as a no body, this is your place to go. They want your money, and don t care about you, even if they see you a few times a week. Would not recommend.

This place is the reason I still go out at all The staff are great, the music is 70% good and Paulie (security/door) will kick you out with grace . If youre going downtown to drink these guys are the best all around bar by-far.

My wife and I stopped in as we wanted a bite to tide us over as we had bigger dinner plans. We finally decided to split the fish taco appetizer and the halloumi fries. We got much more than we thought. The fish tacos were large and the curry sauce in the halloumi fries was great.

Food and service was good, enjoyed the live jazz band that was there. A little more expensive then the average restaurant

Drop in to the British Arms on a Sunday afternoon to hear some great live Jazz music and a delicious meal. The Prime Rib was amazing. My server Creed was great as well. Thanks BA.

Food was extremely greasy. I got the fish and chips and could not finish a single piece as it was absolutely soaked with grease.

Stating the obvious, but Tara is the best

I went there on late Friday night with my boyfriend it was nice inside. The staff and bartenders were super friendly and down to earth. I hope to go back again and try there food because I hear its really good.

This was our first time going and we really enjoyed it. We went late at night, getting there around midnight. Even though the pub is open until 2 am, the kitchen closes about 12:50 am. If youre wanting to dine late, keep that in mind. We ordered the jumbo Yorkshire pudding stuffed with Shepherds pie and split between two people. The portion size was quite large, enough to split, or to have for one person if youre a big eater. The pastry was a little overdone, but the filling was tasty, and the fries were very delicious. The waitress, Kat, was friendly and accommodating. She seemed to be a little swamped, so the service was sometimes a little slow, but when she was attending us, she was fully focused on helping us, taking our order, etc. Overall, I would go back. I would probably do so during the day or evening next time.

Theres security and theres real security. Real security was on point.

They are one of the best pub in Downtown Barrie. The place is pretty calm and comfortable with a warm and welcoming hostess. It was quite late when we arrived at the pub and were instantly hooked to the atmosphere. We ordered pineapple screwdriver to get started with which was an absolute gem. Then we ordered loaded perogies poutine and garlic-Parm wings with a basket of white wine mussels. Wings and mussels were delicious and portion sizes were huge but the perogies were quite soggy and bland. Would recommend if you wanna have a nice time drinking but little skeptic about dining in. Vegetarian options: Not many veg options, not recommended for vegetarians.

Showed up for a nice night of drinks and food with some friends we had been before, years ago, and it was a good time. I have no idea what happened in recent years, but the quality has gone downhill. There were maybe two tables with patrons and two barflies. The waitresses seemed to be filming a TikTok as we entered, before seating us and getting us menus. A friend joined us later and they were skipped over as our drink orders were being taken. THEN it took twenty minutes for two of four drinks to arrive because the waitress thought shed be cheeky and memorize our orders instead of writing anything down only to realize she had no idea how to make the drinks we ordered. The music was way too loud to hold any conversation at, either. We left, and I advise you do the same; do yourself a favor and stay well clear of this place.

Went here during Localicious and was pleasantly surprised. The food was amazing. We got their candied bacon and jack dip, which was one of the best dips I have had in years. Bruchetta, mushroom burger, and dessert. All of it was great and I have zero complaints. Great job guys!!! Food

Best fish and chips I have ever had in a long time and believe me since having it while visiting the East Coast it is very rare for a restaurant to get it right. They nailed it, you actually taste the fish with the perfect thin coating of batter. Hats off to the chef

If I could give this negative stars I would, never in my life have I had food so horrid and comparable to chewing on a deep fried rubber band. My stomach hurts and I m angry. Never again ..

Tried to double charge my table absolute joke of a bar especial with what is downtown

Came here with a group of friends got 3 drinks bartender took over 20 min to give use the 3rd drink hoping we would forget, also tried to double charge our 1 friend for the night hoping he wouldn t notice. Honestly not that great of a bar especially with what is also downtown that people can go too

*This used to be a 5 star rating for the past 3 years* Do not order food (at least through an app) from this place. Over the last few months there have always been issues. Namely there is always something missing, and I dont mean cutlery or napkins, I mean an entire meal. 3 things ordered, only 2 arrive. The drivers claim no responsibility and when calling to ask if the food had been missed weve been told they gave the entire order. So unless the drivers are keeping some for themselves, the issue remains with the restaurant. Usually wouldnt bother writing a bad review but I mean at this point this is ridiculous. Probably should have known better after the 4th or 5th time but better late than never. Maybe you can still have a good time in person but definitely DO NOT order takeout.

A group of about twenty went. We had advised earlier of the numbers so we could sit together. Fun place with good food and good size servings.

Food was great. But slow service. 15min before asking what we would be drinking. There was 3 in our group. Server brought 2 drinks, forgot what i ordered. Forgot about me agian, i had to go up to bar and ask for my drink.

They have live jazz every Sunday, its amazing!

food excellent. server excellent. They asked me if I want extra tartar sauce and side gravy. I said yes. Didnt know Id get charged 3.50 plus tax for basically 2 tablespoons of condiments. Wasnt happy about this but server still a great lady. Want to come every Friday for fish fridays but dont charge me pls for extra tartar sauce.

Great staff had the beef dip was fantastic! Only thing I can say bad is that my wife ordered the Buffalo bites which she loved but wanted to get it as a meal instead of an app and have to order fries at a full pop price..if you could order the bites with fries mb offer it as a meal Im sure it would sell...otherwise wonderful service etc

I went here this past weekend and it took 40 minutes to order a drink as all the bartenders were too hammered to do their jobs. I witnessed them doing shots. I also watched one of the female servers go into the male bathroom. Very disturbing to see that staff are drinking on the job. Will not come here again..

I had the French Onion soup and it was delicious! My MIL had the Bruschetta and she loved it, I found it could have had a bit more flavour (herbs, spices). The wine was wonderful! And my Guinness & Kilkenny was poured perfectly! Thanks for a great lunch

The food was horrible, and multiple dishes were burnt and inedible. Overpriced. They didnt charge for the 2 burnt dishes but still threw away $80. The tvs were SO loud. Its definitely a bar, not somewhere you can enjoy dinner and a conversation. The waitress was delightful but would never go back or recommend it.

Run, cause if I could give them a zero I would. First off the draft beer was flat. I ordered stuffed chicken breast with mashed potatoes. The chicken was inedible and dried out, cheam cheese ozzed out of it, the mashed potatoes were instant and from a box. This is what they called garlic mashed potatoes! My friends meal was no better. She ordered chicken fingers and fries. It looked like they havent changed their oil in over a month. Totally inedible food.

Beware!! Don t go here!! When I paid there was as a problem with their internet connection on the debit machine and the waitress said that it didn t go through and so I paid again. I checked my bank statement and they billed me twice!! I just called and a rude employee who said that she is the manager became instantly very snarky, addressed me in a condescending tone and referred to me as sweetheart . I replied that I m not her sweetheart and she hung up and wouldn t take the call to rectify the situation. I m in Toronto and will have to drive all the way to Barrie to deal with this. People who lack people skills and don t like people, are not doing the public any favour by working in the hospitality industry! After reading all of the reviews about people being double charged and overcharged, I m convinced that some employees are scamming the public. Everyone keeps mentioning the rude blond bartender and our server was blond and tended the bar as well. This restaurant needs to be investigated and perhaps taken to court and held accountable!

Came here yesterday, was charged for twice as many drinks as I had (unresolved) food was alright but you re much better off visiting one of the many other restaurants downtown. I remember really liking this place but the service & food has definitely gone downhill. Don t think think is the first time I ve had an unresolved issue with my bill either I had a burger & a bottle of beer... $40 before tip. Don t waste your time / Money. Just go anywhere else.

This place has a good vibe and live music! But the prices are expensive for bar food & the service is a bit rough. The bartenders are hit and miss. One is very personable, and fast paced. Others not so much.

Waited 30 mins didnt get a beer. . Did everything but throw the book at them. I wanted another DRINK the waiters walked past me .multiple times looked at me such nonsense!! Food

The staff were accommodating and pleasant. The new decor is warm, comfortable and tasteful. A very cozy experience and delicious food. An impromptu stop for a late lunch and we felt at home.

Stopped in for lunch. Not many people there, but it was speedy and service was fantastic. The jumbo yorkshire with the beef was absolutely amazing.

There was two ABSOLUTELY AMAZING blonde ladies working the bar tonight and they absolutely outdid themselves! I spend a lot of time here but Ive never left a review until now, these ladies were energetic, fun, and ON POINT with their service!! The food was also TO DIE FOR

This pub was the first place we went to when we opened up on Dunlop. Michelle, Ambrea, Hannah, Janaya and all the waitresses are incredible. Evan, Michael and the back of house team do a great job and take pride in their food. Make sure to check this place out

I went there and i got awful service i waited 30 min just to get a bear even there was no people at all. After 30 min wait i leave the pub.

We didnt eat so cant comment on the food. The staff were lovely and chatty, the website says certain events but they werent actually happening there when stated.

Sunday dinner special, roast beef highly recommend

It is a place to just relax, watch a game, listen to some great music, especially Joe Huron Trio on Sundays! Food and servers are always great when we are there!

Food was good, but server mixed up my order, served me wrong order which was 4 $ more, corrected the order then hid the extra 4 $ in my bill by tacking it on my Caesar making it a 14 $ Caesar, which I know from all the Caesar s I ve had in the past there she just tacked the extra 4$ from her mistake, on my bill. I m not one to be petty, but when your mistake ends up on my bill, that s really bad service. Won t be back.

The best Yorkshire pudding!! We had the shepherds pie. The level of taste was incredible. Not salty! And apparently the roast beef is even better. Definitely coming back to try it. Also, I love the fact that it s a clean pub. You don t always get that with pubs but it smells clean and the bathrooms are well maintained. I was very appreciative of that.

The $ of their coffee is ridiculous. Tiny cup, no refills.

Just had British Arms (operating out of Wickies right now) and it was delicious. Our son had a gift card and we had an ample amount for three of us - all adults. The chicken wings were awesome and came with freshcut fries and veggies. We had takeout, due to COVID and it was hot, fresh and of high quality. Would defo recommend!

Been coming here for the past few months and it s one of my favourite pubs, the service is hit or miss at times but the food and Caesars make up for it! Best Caesar I ve ever had! The candied bacon is amazing & for food try the beef dip, it won t disappoint!

Was appalled to see that the owner posted pictures of an ashtray with cigarette butts in it with the caption its not ok to smoke in the kitchen, ever on her fb page and then deleted it. Obviously was meant for staff but really makes me wonder what else goes on in the kitchen.

Fish and batter were absolutely perfect!! That is all lol Chips were perfect too but there was to much salt for my liking. I will order again but request 1/3 the salt. Staff are very friendly. Went to hear The Barstool Academy

Drinks were good but food was not okay, the reason was that they were short staffed and they only had 1 chef and 2 servers which were super busy. The servers provided good service but wait time was extremely high. Not recommended on Sunday nights. Unfortunately not going back !!!!

If I could, I would give negative ratings. Ewww , burger patty s were burned and they didn t even replace the food. I wouldn t go there again!!!

blonde lady with tattoos denied service unless i prove i paid and when i showed her she said it wasnt good enough, threw a 20 and walked out, bill came to sixteen dollars with a tip for a caesar and she still said no, when i was there the night i had my drink she was arguing with another person about payment! avoid this place as she may try to take your money!

Today myself and my wife had the absolute pleasure of stopping by The British Arms for lunch. We were warmly greeted by Valerie who promptly took our order and made sure we always had something to drink, it was a very hot and humid day so this extra attention was very much appreciated. The food was incredible, we ordered the Calamari and Pierogis both of which were cooked to perfection. The calamari was particularly excellent. My wife ordered the loaded veggie burger but substituted the patty for a beef patty (yes we know that sounds funny, but try it) which they were happy to accommodate. I ordered the Stuffed Yorkshire Pudding with Shepherd s Pie, being from Yorkshire I was excited to see what they could do with this classic and I was not disappointed. Dan, the chef made extra effort to come visit our table and to ask for our feedback which was a nice surprise. Long story long, Valerie and Dan knocked it out of the park and are a true credit to this pub. We absolutely will be back again.

Waited 75 mins for our food? Our order got lost and the place was under staffed. When we finally got our meals it was cold? One member of our group ordered nachos with no olives. The waitress repeated her order twice and yet when she got brought out her food it was full of olives? Washrooms we re out of hand soap and not very clean. Sorry, I don t think I will ever go back.

Ordered the perogy poutine tonight for take out. Recieved it with no cutlery the gravy was burnt and extremely clumpy. Not a very good experience at all.

Saturday, August, 23th @ 12:30pm place not busy, 2 gentleman sitting at the bar, and only 4 tables outside . Bartender standing playing on her phone, didn t even look up, after getting greeted, she took a bill out to someone on patio a brought in the dirty dishes, instead of giving me a menu. Not handicap accessible to go inside, problem getting in with a walker. Got up and walked out and went to the Irish Pub across the street.

Warm, but thats cause customers were complaining about ac. But overall amazing food. Got the wrong burger. But they replaced it and it was still super yummy

It was the servers second day, she was great, hope she sticks it out. The staff in general has always been great and the food has never disappointed us. A couple of pints of Guinness and we each had the Yorkshire bowl with beef and a side of asparagus which was perfect.

Really great place - best Fish n Chips I have had in North America. I came here last year in the height of Covid, and had their Yorkshire Pudding with Cottage Pie which was great, and I swore I would be back, and was not disappointed- looking forward to going back again the next time I am in Barrie.

We went here for the first time tonight! How have we never been here before? Food AMAZING! Service second to none. Our Server Michelle was so attentive and helpful when we had any questions. We will definitely be back!

Sad way to spend a birthday dinner! The British Arms was on Barrielicious this year so we thought we would try it for my birthday. Unless you have three hours for dinner do not go here. The food was delicious but we ended up having to take a part of it home because of the wait. Very disappointing.

Food was great but had to wait close to an hour for 2 pieces for cake, and that was only sped up because we told the server that were ready to leave.

Unfortunately I wont be able to even comment on how the environment and food are since I went inside and not a single person came to me to ask me if I needed a table or to serve me in any way. I even walked inside and stopped standing in front of the bar, and nothing. Waited there standing for about 2 minutes and left.

I would just like to say Tara is the best bartender ever!!! She went above and beyond! Really made me feel like part of the family! Great poutine as well. Some locals like Shawn are pretty cool as well. But Tara is the real reason to head to this bar! Check it out you wont regret it. Remember Tara is number 1.

If you love fish and chips, this is the best place to eat. On Fridays, they serve a generous helping of fish and chips - TWO FOR THE PRICE OF ONE. It is really delicious and worth going for, In the summer you can sit inside in the pub or they do have an outdoor patio and you sit outside and enjoy a beautiful summer evening.

Excellent pub food! The chef cares about taste and presentation at this place you can tell. I have just been twice but I love this place. The service was fantastic both times from the blonde bartender who I think is a manager or owner cause she really cares for the place like its her own in the best way.

Weve been trying to do local take out during COVID to both support our local restaurants and also check out places that well want to try again once everything opens up once more. We tried British Arms tonight through Door Dash, and every single person was absolutely shocked senseless with how tasty the food was. Truly some of the best pub food Ive ever had, huge portions, extremely good combinations (who knew poutine perogies would be so good?!?!), and just absolutely amazing. We will be back.

Ordered through Door Dash and the food was fantastic. It arrived hot, well-packaged, well presented, and absolutely delicious. The poutine perogies were wonderful and the deserts were amazing. Such a treat. I cant wait to go there in person.

I would give it five stars if the poutine was bigger. If I m gonna pay x amount of dollars for a sandwich cha a poutine, I want my money s worth! Tasty as hell but as I stated previously, needs to be a bit larger.

From what I have heard, they have recently changed over the look and vibe of the British Arms and although I never experienced the previous style, I LOVE what they have done. Cozy and clean vibe, fun and welcoming staff, great music and the food.. oh my gosh! I cant say enough about the food. Extremely pleased! It is delicious and some of the best in all of Barrie. I would high recommend the Ravioli. Hats off to the chef!

I wish I could put 0 stars. The food was meh, but that wasnt my issue. It was one of the worst customer service experiences Ive had in a long while. I called in a takeout order and was told itd be 20 minutes. No problem. When we arrived I was ignored for 10 minutes and then given a machine for the amount without seeing the bill. Again whatever, I paid. Then I was ignored for a further 20 minutes with no information about the state of my food. An hour after my original order placement I was given a bag and a bad news we cant find this thing you ordered do you want something else? This was what bothered me. I was ignored upon arriving and after paying and at no point told that my food was taking longer or that items werent available. Then after an hour of waiting while being handed my order I was told parts of it werent available. So if I wanted an alternative item I would have to wait even longer. To cap it all off when I walked out and checked the order it was still missing items. So it was not checked prior to handing it to me. I went back in to get the remaining items, and still felt like I was a bother (a theme throughout the experience), but all of this has occurred during covid. I am not eating at restaurants because I am uncomfortable doing so, but I am still trying to support local where I can with takeout. As a result of being ignored and not informed of my food timelines I was standing inside the restaurant for 40 minutes and the wait staff was not wearing masks. While being cashed out and refunded their mask was sitting under their chin. When pouring other customers beer it was under their chin and lifted only to deliver food. Covid isnt selective. It doesnt only travel when beside the customer. Overall the experience was a bad one and I wont be returning.

Food was fantastic! Shared the mini stuffed Yorkshires for the app (2 Yorkshires cut in 1/2 & filled with shaved roast beef & gravy with a side of jus). Wings on special while the Jays are playing, so we each had wings....Buffalo & lemon pepper. Waitress & atmosphere were great, too! We met here 6yrs ago & came back for our anniversary while visiting Barrie. Glad we did!

Ordered B-day dinner from British Arms and it was sooo good. Had the larger Yorkshire pudding stuff with lamb shepards pie with cheesy creamed broccoli. We also had a Cesar salad with chicken, one of the best Cesars we have had through online ordering. Will definitely order again. Thanks British Arms!!

Very nice atmosphere at this time of the night. Great food. Bar tender knew how to make proper lager and lime (Harps). Our server was Kristen. Very nice. Outgoing and friendly me very nice waitress. We will be back.

Gave only 1 star as google would not let me post without it. Awful service and management. We wanted to book their Ascent Lounge for a private function. I have been trying to reach someone for details for over a month. 7-8 emails - not answered 5-6 phone calls not returned An in-person visit when the manager was on site and they would not speak with us. We left (2) contact names and phone numbers and were told that we would be contacted on Monday It has been over a week and still no contact at all.

I have been coming here for 8 years, and I love it, their cheap wing nights every Tuesday and the staff is great my favourite place to go. One thing I m disapointed about is they recently took out their mozzarella sticks from the menu and only have cheese curds which is not the same. You literally had the best mozzarella sticks that you can never get anywhere else. As they were so unique and had the fish and chips batter they were delicious please please please bring them back, other than that best place to go

Well it only took 18 minutes for a server to finally see me after sitting down at a table.... was about to leave before I finally noticed the server approaching... hard to feel welcome as a new guest when your blainently ignored felt like my buisness wasnt needed or wanted hard to aquire new regulars this way

A fabulous Brit themed pub, thats definitely highly worth while checking out thats now my new go 2! Met a charismatic young waitress Candace and her crew that provided top knotch service much like I grew up with back state side and reminded me off some of the Best Brit pubs I frequented in Hong Kong, Food was as good as the service!!!!!!

Cheese curds. OMG. Best ive ever had. Thats what she said. Now your broccoli...how do you cook it because dear lord I have never had such good broccoli. Its like a really good first date but theres a possibility ill never have that experience again so now im just going to go on a bunch of random tinder dates and am constantly be disappointed by my attempts to duplicate you, but no one will ever be as good as you... And finally the yorkshire pudding. Enough said.

Great British pub like atmosphere including friendly staff and bar fly banter. Nice way to enjoy an afternoon or evening, a few pints with friends or by yourself. Having Famous Grouse scotch would perfect the experience.

Fantastic menu, great house ale, and gorgeous stone veneer pub. They have an impressive menu for appetizers, mains, and brit fare. Staff are very attentive and they have the ability to open the top floor for events and large capacity groups. Highly reccommend.

Been going here off and on for years. Its quality is up and down. I had a nice visit at Tuesday after midnight when so many bars a closed. Great service and live music. My app was tasty.
