Went out for halloween dinner and i have to say, i found the resturant great, You enter and its nice inside, not too nice, if you know what i mean, where people there wonder why your there, like wouldnt you be more comfortable somewhere else wonder. We had some apps, tips and snails and for mains it was lamb ribs and salmon punched with crab. It was all very tasty, they definitely will have to put up with us again.

We ordered take out a Dinner for 8 yesterday. We all ordered different Entrees and a variety of Appetizers as well as both Dessert options.. Everything was absolutely incredible and cooked to perfection.

This is a long time fine dinning restaurant in Barrie. I had the veal parmigiana, which was outstanding! Service was also excellent. In terms.of cost for the 4 of us including 5 alcoholic beverages and two non alcoholic cocktails without dessert the total cost including tip was 250.00. Excellent spot.

Great place they even let me take my new puppy on the patio and gave us a bowl of water. Drinks and food are awesome along side with the wonderful service :)

Amazing place great for date night

My wife brought me here for my birthday, the space was elegant and comfortable, the service was great and the food was incredible! The Alfredo sauce was to die for!

We go to Crazy Fox for special occasions and it is always superb. The food there is outstanding and the service is extremely friendly and impeccable. It has been and will continue to be our go to for fine dining. Try the lamb and the chicken! And the tuna appetizer! My mouth is watering just writing about it.

I was in Barrie to honour a colleague that retired after 55 years in the financial services business. A true gentleman. The Crazy Fox was the perfect spot. The food was great.

Food was excellent. Service horrible. Our server was very slow and didn t put in our appetizer order, until we had to ask a second time. We were cramped in a corner of the restaurant with 3 other couples, even though there was lots of room to spread out a bit and make it more comfortable for everyone. The lamb is really good. However for the high price this restaurant charges, I expected more, mainly from the service.

What a lovely place. We arrived with a party of 7 without reservations for lunch. One baby, who needed a high chair, and my two elderly grandparents who can t go up or down stairs. They sat us on the main level, and we truly appreciated that accommodation. The bread was hot and fresh. The micro greens salad was INCREDIBLE and the salmon was seasoned and cooked to perfection. I will be back. This is my new favourite restaurant whenever I m in Barrie.

Tonights specials, (Beef Shank, (Osso Buoco) ) over mash and with veggies. Presentation 5 stars, taste 5 Stars. The appetizer, Chefs platter with , Ribs, shrimp, frog legs, and cheese filled pastry . I changed to extra shrimp and no frog legs ( no issues for substitutions) I had the brulee pie desert along with an espresso and a warm glass Remi Cognac. The service was second to none since I walked in. Price is on point for this Upscale Casual Dinning. You will Not be disappointed. Bom Appetit! The Crazy Fox Bistro is a charming gem. The food is truly exceptional, boasting delicious flavors in every dish. Coupled with great service, the experience was truly memorable. Additionally, the prices were reasonable, making it a fantastic dining experience.

Way overpriced for what you get. 7 pieces of pasta was $35. It was just ok. The shrimp was mediocre at best. They also screwed me on my change.

Easily the best Restaurant, Food Experience in Barrie. The lobster is spectacular, Succulent and Juicy, The Salmon is Seasoned perfectly, The Ravioli was awesome, Dessert was wonderful. The service is always excellent. The Ceasar salad is Delicious, The Lamb is perfectly cooked and the sauce , Been here quite a few times and its always Perfect. Dont get me started with the Bang Bang Shrimp. Their Beet salad is amazing, also almost everything goes perfectly with Fat Tire Amber Ale. Best place to take someone you love. Thank you. Parking: Parking can be a bit of a pain. But showing up 10 minutes before your reservation prevents this issue.

Food was good but nothing amazing but the slowest service Ive ever recieved anywhere, waited over 40 minutes for a main and the waitress Kim did not come to check on us once during that time and way overpriced for the quality and amount of food we received especially on Valentines Day. 2 couples sat down after us, had their full meals then desert, then paid and left before we had even seen our main course

My husband and I took my parents out to dinner at the Crazy Fox Bistro for the first time and we will definitely be coming back. What an amazing experience,the staff are very polite and courteous, great atmosphere and the food was phenomenal.

This was our first time dining at The Crazy Fox Bistro, and having read some reviews online, I was a little skeptical. Im very pleased to say that I had nothing to fear. During the course of our dinner we ordered 2 appetizers, 4 entrees & 2 bottles of wine. The service for all of it was top notch, very friendly and attentive staff (but not too much so). The quality of the food was excellent. Ive been struggling to find a great steak dinner since Covid, and finally I found it. The Rib Eye dinner was superb, as was the Salmon & Prawns en Croute. The portions were very good, 2 of us asked for a take out container. It was so good, I wasnt leaving it behind. Im really looking forward to a return trip.

This place used to be one of our favourite places to go pre-pandemic. We went this evening because it s been a while but we were very disappointed.The quality isn t what it used to be. One of our favourite items was the pear salad. Used to have large chunks of caramelized pears and good sized pieces of candied nuts. No nuts this time and only small slivers of pears. They got rid of the chef s appetizer sampler which was disappointing. They ve cut the menu but haven t introduced any new dishes, the ones they kept are not terribly exciting- had a hard time finding something that appealed. The food prices have increased- no longer worth the price in our opinion. The service tonight was painfully slow. Only saw our server to order & then pay. We were there for 2 long hours. We were pretty certain she forgot about us. We had no pretty candle on our table and were not offered fresh rolls like all the other tables. Sadly we won t be back. There are many better restaurants in Barrie. It s too bad because we used to love this place.

Excellent dinner and staff - such a wonderful experience!!

Went with friends for localicious. Had the carrot and ginger soup with pecan crusted chicken and raspberry chocolate dessert. Husband had Caesar salad, veal with pasta and apple crisp. Everything was delicious. Our server was a very friendly polite young man.

I went for dinner with my friends and we were super impressed. Food came super quick and everything tasted absolutely delicious. Staff were so welcoming and very friendly. The atmosphere inside was perfect. Definitely recommend!!

What a wonderful evening. We visited tonight and enjoyed 4 different appetizers.. flat bread, escargot, bang bang shrimp and the featured artichoke dip. All were beautifully presented, plentiful and excellent., 4 different mains pecan crusted chicken, mezzaluna crab and lobster, pickerel and veal . Serving sizes and presentation again were very well done and the food was delicious. We also had excellent wine and mixed cocktails Our server April was informative and super friendly . Pricier dining but well worth it. Terrific service. The menu is loaded with dishes I would want. The dishes are tasty and I like the simple natural, subtle flavours.

Went there for the first time Lastnight for our anniversary. We started the evening on the patio and finished our meal inside as it got a little chilly at sunset. We ordered the chicken it was really good and the Veal Parmesan which was underwhelming. The crab dip was served with grocery store quality crackers, a little overpriced for what you get. Lastly the service was alright. Waited 35 minutes for our dessert as wait staff stood around the bar chatting away amongst themselves. Heard really good things about this place so I was slightly disappointed all things considered. I would give this place another chance as it was a great atmosphere and there was other items on the menu that looked good.

A gem of a place for a really nice meal. It was lunch with a group in my case so we had made reservations. Everyone liked their food. I cant say much about the wine as only one person had a glass. Service was very good. Just a nice place for a special meal out.

You are getting Micheline star quality dishes at this restaurant. First time there and was so impressed by the quality. A bit on the pricy side but you are getting gourmet, tasty, unique dishes. The walnut crusted chicken was amazing. The sauce it came with was so unique and well done. The fish was great too. The vegetables were cooked to perfection still crunchy. The crab, lobster pasta was also very tasty. We tried the tomato soup which was also very good. Only thing I could complain about would be that our meals took a long time to come but was well worth it.

New in town, we went here for our anniversary dinner because our realtor suggested it, the food was excellent, but very pricey for the amount your receive. It was a bit noisy where we were seated, all in all though, it was a good experience.

The place was ok. The service was good. Food was mid. For the price I was expecting to be wowed. I ordered the pecan chicken. It wasnt very good. The presentation was ok. The only really good thing of the plate were the mashed potatoes. Will not eat there again. Food

The chef creates these wonderful, delicious, unique dishes.The crispy bass whole fish is highly recommended. Honestly, everything I have had is amazing. The butterflied wings....lightly crispy on the outside...the meat so moist...a must try!

The service is good, but the food is not worth the price. I prefer The Keg and Jack Astors.

We just had the Localicious menu for the first time and it was so delicious! The pecan, goat cheese chicken with the maple butter has become one of my favourite dishes Ive ever had. I will definitely have it again and again!

Crazy Fox Bistro - Had reservations for Valentines day, best evening out for dinner we have had in Barrie in a very long time. The specialty menu with three choices was fantastic, although we only had two of the three obviously... enough cant be said about how delicious and satisfying both were. The ceasar salad was probably the best I have ever had, they should bottle and sell the dressing that is made in house. My fillet mignon was done to perfection and absolutely mouth watering. The lamb was also top notch. The staff was amazing and attentive to any needs, and the courses were timed perfectly. Thank you, David and staff for a very memorable and enjoyable evening out.

We noticed that all the servers were very friendly and absolutely great with people. This was the first time visit for us and we will absolutely be back.

The cuisine combined with the wine list, service and atmosphere make this unique spot one you will want to return to. David and his staff always make each guest feel welcomed. This Crazy Fox Bistro does not disappoint. My parents are from out of town and wanted a restaurant which had variety, good food and wasnt hectic. The food was fantastic and the service was very friendly. I had the lamb and it was fantastic. Only critiques are the fact that Id like to see sort of crab dip as an appetizer and at least one dessert without berries or booze. The others I ate with had the Salmon special (excellent), crusted chicken (excellent), Duck (excellent) and the veal parm (excellent). I will be back again and would recommend to anyone looking for a new spot to try out.

We enjoyed our dinner and experience here. Service was great and the food was good. We got the escargot, bang bang shrimp, lamb chops, pickerel, and raspberry truffle wedge. Portions were okay for the price, and all of our food was well cooked. We ll be back :)

The food is fantastic. I had the salmon dish feature, which is not the same salmon dish on the menu. My wife ordered the salmon plank dish from the menu and the feature option was much better, as it came with a delightful sauce. The rest of our party ordered the pecan crusted chicken, the bacon wrapped filet mignon, the pan seared pickerel and an off-menu item; a vegan mushroom risotto. Everyone said that their meals were extremely good. We also had a few appetizers; chicken wings, bruschetta, salad, etc. and those were all great too. Our only bit of constructive feedback is that the washrooms are not wheelchair accessible. We had a person in our party that recently had major foot surgery and he had to walk down and up two flights of stairs to use the facilities. It would also be nice if they had some better desert options. Perhaps add some sort of cheesecake or iced cream cookie dish. A vegan desert option should be offered too, since they offer off-menu vegan mains. Overall, it was still a very good experience. The staff is super friendly and attentive and the atmosphere is great.

Very nice fine dining experience on a Thursday evening. The food was delicious and the servings were the right amount for me. Our server was great and was able to accommodate our requests. I believe they were slightly understaffed as our server was also doing the job of the host and the food took a little while to arrive. The doneness on the lamb I ordered was medium but as you can see by the photo it was a little under. Still, everything tasted great and it was a very good evening out. I look forward to being back.

Came here for a dinner with my girlfriend for the first time on Saturday Oct 15, 2022. Had a reservation at 6:30 pm but couldn t make it due to some last minute issues. I called in at 6:15 pm requesting if it could be pushed to 8:00 pm and the receptionist was very understanding, courteous and accommodating. I arrived at 7:55 pm and was seated immediately. The wait staff was very attentive and explained the specials and menu very well which made making our decision on choice a lot easier. We started with the tuna appetizer served in two ways. For entrees we got the ribeye steak and lamb chops. Both the appetizers and the mains tasted amazing and were cooked to our specified doneness. Our only complaint was that it did seem a bit cramped as our table was really close to our neighbor. Overall the food and customer service was great. The price was reasonable for a higher end restaurant and we do feel we got the value for what we paid. Would definitely come back again.

This place was so cozy, small restaurant but the service was great! The food was 10/10 and it reminded me of The Keg but more of a family cozier smaller less fancier vibe. The only negative part of my experience was that I requested them to surprise with a dessert for my friends birthday and called twice to remind them and made multiple of hints to the waitress and it never happened.. My friend took me to dinner to the Crazy Fox. She had the lamb I had the Rib eye. The entrees were amazing as were the appetizers bang bang shrimp and escargot. Dessert of cherries jubilee was yummy and as a special treat they gave me a chocolate strawberry to make birthday special. Beyond the food the service the best I have seen in years (and that is before the pandemic).

This used to be our go to place in Barrie; fantastic food, diverse menu, and good price. We used to order from here every three months, bang bang shrimp (solid), pecan crusted goat cheese stuffed chicken (sublime), and whatever I would order (can t go wrong with anything on there). This would come out to around $70. This past time we went with our regular order (liver and onions for myself, the cheapest option I go with) and come to find out the final bill was $100, over 40% increase. Going forward we will be once a year based solely on the quality of food, can t fault them there. Hope the price increase was worth the loss of our frequency.

Crazy Fox has been a source of normalcy with curbside pickup meals being as meticulously presented as when we could dine there. Just finished another delicious meal at home for date night. Prices are reasonable for the quality.

Just finished a delicious family take out meal. We had their famous chicken and it was outstanding with perfect sauce and sides. The veal parm with penne filling and so tasty. Rack of lamb done perfectly and filled up one hungry diner! Filet was so tender and juicy. All were still hot when we got home and we will definitely continue to enjoy take out while dining-in is not an option. Thank you Big thumbs up

My wife and I, have tried many of Barries restaurants. The Crazy Fox is one of the most underrated gems in Barrie. If you are looking for something a little more upscale, with a beautiful dinning area and wonderful service, the fox is perfect. Not to forget the food itself from the buttersquash soup, the lamb cooked and presented impeccably, the Rib eye and New York steaks all delicious cuts of meat! To the beautiful birthday plate, with an evermoreish creambrula on the side. The price is a little more then your local eatery, but the food, feel and service definitely make up for it.

This is a very nice restaurant! They have a great menu from Steak to Pasta and easily to help with Gluten-free needs to make everyone have a nice time. There is also a nice wine and beer selection to choose from. Happy Dining!!

Went here for lunch. The food was okay, the portions were very small for the price. My pan seared tuna was barely seared. We left not very impressed and still hungry. Went somewhere else for dessert as we were not satisfied with what we got for our money. The waiter/waitresses were semi attentive, my husband only drinks water and was unimpressed that the little wine glass of water was only filled one time.

UPDATE: The owner called to apologize for the experience we had. Terrible dining experience. Our table was upstairs crammed in a corner beside a glass wall/door from what we assume used to be a smoking section. We were a party of 4 - two couples on a double date - we were given 2 menus. The menus were printed on one page of plain copy paper and the only heading was DINNER . We were served room temperature water (no ice) in tiny little wine glasses. We ordered a beer, a virgin cocktail and 2 iced teas. 20 mins later the server finally comes back with no iced teas and said it took long because he was looking for some but they were all out. He had no suggested alternatives so we stuck with the warm water. We all ordered appetizers and mains. There was no bread basket, there was no check in from the server, and finally 45 mins later the apps arrive. The Caesar salads were small. The pear salad has red peppers in it which is not in the description and I am allergic to so I had to pick them all out. The beef tenderloin tips were the only highlight of this whole dinner that was good. Then we waited another 45+ mins for our mains. The server came by after a half hour or so and we asked when it was coming and he said it had been started . Finally they came. The sharper knives for our steaks were no sharper than the butter knives. The meals weren t anything special. My filet mignon was too charred and the bacon wrap had fallen off so the presentation wasn t good. The steak and the veggies tasted ok and were cooked properly but were very bland. Same for the rib eyes and the chicken. We opted not to get dessert since we had been at the restaurant 2 HOURS by the time we finished our meals. Then it took about 10 mins for the bills to arrive. No manager came to apologize and the server indicated that he took one drink off each bill because that s all he is authorized to take off , wasn t very apologetic. Overall we were there 2 hours and 15 mins at a mediocre table. The prices are on the high end for this type of casual fine dining and completely unjustified, especially considering the bad service. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Great food and excellent service

We had an exceptional night. The food was excellent and the pace of service was perfect for a relaxed night out with friends.

Seated at 5:30, ordered at 5:45, got our entrees at 7:15. Average food, really disappointing service. Have been a customer here for years but took my hubby here for the first time thinking I would impress him and boy was I wrong. So many great places around here, pick something else.

Dined at Crazy Fox last night with work girls to celebrate early Christmas get together. Although the decor is a bit dated, food was AMAZING and makes up for it. Alex and Mitchel were fantastic and patient even though we became quite chatty and loud as we overindulged in wine. Will definitely be back!

If youre looking for a good spot to eat for a special occasion of any kind or if you just want some great food, then look no further. I am always telling friends and family how great this place is, and now Im telling you! My favorite items on the menu are the duck confit and the beef tenderloin tips. Come give it a try!

Went for my brothers birthday. Was our first time eating here and we were beyond impressed with the quality of food and service. Everything was absolutely delicious from the drinks, appetizers to main course. Definitely looking forward to another special occasion to celebrate here.

Dave and the staff are always ready to give you a warm welcome each time you visit the Crazy Fox . A relaxed and refined atmosphere is what you will find when you arrive. Between the outside patio, bar lounge area or the inside dining areas, you will always find a space that suits your desires. Make sure you give the chefs a wave as you walk past the glass walls around the kitchen area. The food... have anything that catches your eye on the menu. Everything is fantastic! My favourite has always been the chefs plate appetizer, a variety of tasty morsels, bound to impress. We enjoy this wonderful place so much, we have made it our Friday evening tradition. My husband and I ordered the grilled salmon filet dinner that came with jasmine rice and fresh veggies also a salad and spinach cream soup not in that order :) Everything was good except that the rice was undercooked not el dente but undercooked ( I am a food service professional) . The staff was courteous and offered to replace it with baked potato . Because we were done with our meal by the time the potatoes arrived ( Deep fried wedges of potatoes) we didnt have the appetite to eat fried potatoes at the end of the meal. All in all a decent place/patio with courteous customer service.

Dinner was freakn awesome , my boyfriend and I have been making it a point to visit every restaurant in Barrie just so we can say we have tried them all . Including golden griddle lol ( let s just say don t go there unless u want to eat eggs that are 10 hours old and you want to do crossword puzzles with the guy in the nest booth that s been there all day lol) and we have even gone to Michael and marions and Il Bucco ) lets just say this was the best place ever Will go back again and again ! Very desapointed they were out of Bread out of dessert they never brougt water after asking thé flower on thé table one was very awful we left With a bill of 250$ none désinfection for COVID the Waiter was Nice

Respect for the reservation, really good starters, really expensive wine. And for really cheap seafood. Lack of water service and broken bread . The flowers are wilted on the tables and the pots stink. And no disinfection for covid (ramps, chairs) and more really disappointing for the price and I also forgot they offer desserts that they dont have. It s lucky that the staff are smiling

Ive eaten here many times; the food is always amazing. Top quality and it feels good to support a local business vs the International chains. The takeout was spot on - perfect for a nice evening at home!

The food and beverage quality and service was exceptional. Definitely one of the best fine dining restaurants we have experienced. Staff was very knowledgeable and welcoming. A must try is the bang bang shrimp and lamb.

Love everything about the place! The atmosphere/ambience is really nice and cozy. Food is excellent! (The Bang! Bang! Shrimp is a definite favourite and the Pecan Crusted Chicken) Wait staff are friendly and knowledgeable! Highly recommend this place!

It was my first time coming to this restaurant a friend of mine told me about it. I wanted to take my fiance to a nice place for dinner for her birthday and everything was awesome I made a reservation over the phone even we got there a bit earlier and they took us in right away the atmosphere was very good the food was awesome the waitress was awesome very knowleageable about the menu my fiance had an amazing time enjoy everything so most definitly we will go back there the food was awesome it was worth it to wait for the food because it was made very fresh and from scratch the service was excellent it was an awesome overall dining experience. Most definitely recommended this place to anybody that want to have and awesome overall dining experience with friends and special occasions.
