The service is extremely slow. They are to wait like 30 minutes for a takeout, which was already ordered using Uber.

We ordered the burger. The burger bun was super dry and doughy. The impossible patty also very dry. Overall bite couldnt be consumed without water.

I ordered 3 burger meals to go. After I got home I saw that they gave me the wrong hamburger and added meat to my wife s beyond meat burger. I called them back and the manager was super nice, asked me to come back for the proper order. I went back to pick up my order. After i got home I saw that my wife s burger was correct, on my burger they didn t put any sauce and the burger was way over cooked. I have been to the works in Newmarket many times and they make a proper mean hamburger that does not disappoint. I will not be back to this location and if you re reading this and you still go, don t order the dry overcooked kamikaze burger.

So apparently dont order food within 45 minutes to close, had nothing but issues with the online portal because they send a flyer that says sign up and get free onion rings, because spending $60 on two burgers, a free order of onion rings sounds good. Google has them listed at 9:00pm so we plan an anniversary dinner around the fact they close at 9:00 go to place the order at 8:20-22 and they say its too late for online orders. I call the store to get voicemail and a woman on the end of that end of the phone says they close at 8:30. So guess its on to something else, wont waste my time or money coming back though.

Great service, great food, and a good location with a great patio view over the bay. Its certainly a little more expensive than your average fast food burger joint but not unreasonably so and worth every penny. Vegetarian options: The place has veggie burgers and meat free salad entrees.

Just placed an order for delivery and I gotta say whoever cooked my tragically maple burger today (April 30th at approx 1:30 PM) just made the best burger I ve had in about 5 years. I ve been having your guys burgers now for 3 years ish and that was without a doubt the best one I ve ever had. The portion size was perfect, cooked to perfection and gave me a healthy portion of chips. Give that man/Woman a raise please

Used to order probably once a week from the works through door dash and all of a sudden they reduced their delivery range so they don t deliver here. Very disappointed in that as I ve been a pretty good customer the past couple years

Would have given the cuisine a rating but we never got what we purchased. We bought coupons from a silent auction that apparently needed to be redeemed before a specific date (totally fine.) However when we went to redeem we were greeted by the manager that specifically told us we cant give away all this free food. The free food was 4 burgers that we won in a silent auction. I can do without a burger and fries for my family (much healthier alternatives out there) but the rudeness of the manager and the pure attitude on display was disgusting. Literal bait and switch tactic. Poor business ethics and I hope the funds we paid went to the organization that hosted the auction and not to the ignorant manager of this place.

Walked in, smelled heavily of weed. Host looked high. I dont want that in a restaurant, Im sorry. Sat down, couldnt stand the smell, got up, walked out. I used to like coming here, but that was over the line. I dont recommend.

I ordered a juicy Lucy and onion rings and the delivery was super quick, and the food was amazing. Hands down best burger I have had from a restaurant and the onion rings were amazing. I will deff be ordering again in the future ! Highly recommend !!

My experience here was alright. This restaurant is conveniently located and the service is pretty fast, but improvements could be made. Our time here was reminiscent of a take-out experience at a high price point. Cleanliness could be improved, as the menus we were given were wet and the table felt sticky. I m thankful that they offer a vegan option, but I was not impressed with the quality. The chips on the side were good though. Also, it didn t seem like any of the staff really wanted to be there. Not a great atmosphere, but there is potential.

Great burgers with a large selection of toppings. Fries are freshly made and taste good. I have chosen to eat here many times and will likely be back again. Warning to new visitors: Seats are harder than they appear

I dont usually do reviews but sadly I wont be going here or ordering here again. Just ordered tonight and went to eat my burger when I noticed something odd on the top of the bun. Turns out to be mold on the burger. Really disappointed, loved the burgers.

Friendly and chilled atmosphere and awesome service. The chicken burger with sautéed mushrooms and onions was yummy and fresh. My wifee had the beef burger with a deep fried cheese which was also yummy. The homemade fries went well with the coleslaw mix, just added the slaw on top of the potato chips and mmmm...so good.

I went to Works with my husband for family day and I loved the hamburger and the beer! Great place with a lakefront view! The service is awesome and food amazing! We loved!

My girlfriend and I loved ordering from this place but unfortunately they recently really upped their prices by about 5 bucks a burger and its priced us out unfortunately. I know times are tough and it sucks places have to do this keep up. Hopefully things change and prices can come back down or wages can go up in the future.

Very unique spot to go, had a very big menu with many different types of burgers to choose from, in clouding vegetarian and vegan options. I had a great spot to sit out on the patio in the sun it was great, with a wonderful view of the lake. I think there was only the one waitress so she was quite busy running around serving each table. I had a heaven burger i think with wagu meat and maple smoked bacon on top was very good, along with a ceaser salad and coliflower bites. Lastley all of our water and pop got served in a measuring glasses, was very cool!

By far my favourite burger place ever! The Wagyu patty for the Man Cave burger was the best burger I ve ever had, hands down. The fries were so good too, proper blanching of fresh cut fries making them nice and crispy. (Unfortunately they no longer offer the bottomless fries option, which was initially what drew me in). The Works is definitely worth the 50 min drive to Barrie for us.

We have always loved having date night at the works. We recently came in post covid, we ordered one app & their The works poutine, with two drinks. The portion size WAS INCREDIBLY SMALL, enough so that we said something to our server. She was very kind and placed a second order on the house BUT this two apps n two drinks ran us $50 before a tip!!!!!!!!!!! Absolutely insane, felt beyond ripped off. Sad this has been our favorite place for almost a decade, price gouging and pathetic portion sizing has made sure we will never be back.

I ve been to a few other locations and this has been the worst in terms of food. Normally you re told the burger is slightly pink upon ordering at other locations so they re not dry and overcooked and you re asked if you re ok with that, but not at this one! They just overcook it until its dry and resembles a tough piece of leather! The place was dead too and when the food finally did arrive, it was cold and the cheese had hardened on the burger. When leaving (you pass the kitchen) and I noticed 3 plates sitting in the pick up window like they had been sitting there 10mins, cold and unappetizing just like mine had looked! With a drink you re paying $30 a person easy and in this economy, for the quality of food here compared to their other locations, it s completely unacceptable!! Portions sizes were smaller too compared to other locations as were the toppings! Waitress was nice but the place was under staffed and the cooks clearly do not know how to cook a burger! I will not be returning to this location which is sad because the works is one of the better burger spots and when I see one in a new city, I typically stop in to eat but I won t be coming back to this one! I should have complained but didn t want to stress out the one server working and be stuck waiting another 20 mins for food again.

I have been to many locations, this is one of my favourite burger places to go too, but not this place. Got the nacho libre and full Mountie burger and there was barely any toppings on top, the nacho libre burger had about 5 chips on top compared to other places that give a huge amount of toppings you can barely put your mouth around it. All the burgers looked smaller than normal too, like they were literally half the size of what I normally get, so Im pretty sure they give less meat now for the same price, and the fries tasted like cardboard. One of the burgers was so undercooked that it was fully pink on the inside, almost gave us food poisoning! I understand that they usually cook the burgers to medium well at this restaurant but this was almost completely raw in the middlle... The waiter was very nice and did remove it completely from the bill but still she shouldnt of had to do that! Also, by the time the new one came out everyone else had finished so she had to eat alone and the raw burger made everything so unappetizing that she didnt even want to eat the new one! This place has definitely gone wayyyy down hill... Just wanted to clarify, the waiter was very very nice and we have nothing bad to say about her!

Awesome burger joint, great food, original signature sauces, we had the Hawaii 5-0 and the chicken fight club with sweet potato fries and a poutine, everything was delicious wish we could eat it twice! Outstanding place, will definitely be returning over and over!!

The place is nice, you can have a table in the patio looking out to the lake (Kempenfelt bay). The service, the waitress was nice, however the food took so long ro be served and the burger patty is not as juicy as I expected.

Quick service with the most COMFORTABLE chairs in existence. We sat on the patio, and had an amazing view and watched the sunset, as we munched on some delicious food. Overall a great place to come on a date or with a group. Highly recommend.

I love the works, I ve gone to multiple locations in different cities and have always enjoyed the atmosphere and attentive servers. This time however it was completely different. It was essentially a take out experience. The server was awful, in every aspect of being a server. Kept piling dirty dishes on the table next to ours instead of bringing them to the kitchen (this attracted flies). And then spent our whole meal talking to his friends that he gave free meals to. That location is being run like an absolute joke. I should have walked out when they seated us and didn t take any drink/food order from us for 15 minutes. It s a waste of money, go somewhere actually good and cheaper like Kensington burger bar!

Literally the most nastiest washrooms Ive ever seen. Worse than an outhouse. Seriously, do better.

Worst food ever! We ordered burgers with steam broccoli, and green salad. The steam broccoli was stale and dirty. It had yellow, brownish spots, and black dirts in it. The same goes for the green salad. The burgers were very dry. Whole grain buns looked like white flour buns. The lettuce inside the burger had bugs in it. Washroom is filthy dirty. I can image a restaurant at the best downtown location is so bad in terms of cleanliness, and food quality. I would give it zero in all categories if zero is available.

Fun menu, great atmosphere, everyone enjoyed their meal

This is the first time Ive been there and I can tell you I will be returning, the food was very good and the service was fantastic, the measuring cups the soda comes in is very cool, I had the Bab burger and it was cooked to perfection highly recommended this place if your touring or just looking for a place thstd good to eat you wont be disappointed in the works

The food tasted great - however, when I went to the restroom, the staircase had dustballs the size of my head. The restaurant was dirty, which made me scared about what the kitchen was like.

It was OK . Extensive menu. Opted for lunch special which included a pop choice and I dont drink pop but no coffee substitute allowed. No cutlery given to us by infrequent server. Burger did not look like a 6 oz more like a 4 oz. Nice patio overlooking the bay though. Average meal.

Ordered the Black Forest Milkshake, only to get served the Black Cherry Milkshake, thought I ordered it wrong. But was charged the Black Forest Milkshake at the end (one noticeable difference was no oreos and not much of a chocolate flavour). Liked the appetizers and milkshake more than the burger.

The burger ideas are cool. The portions are a bit on the smaller side though. The dessert milkshakes idea is excellent. The place, itself, though, smells everywhere and cleanliness is not up to mark. The mugs our water was served in had white stains likely from dried water (?!?) Doubt we will be back

Burgers were way over cooked. Very dry. (Same last time we went so seems thats the way they have to cook them) Fry upcharge to poutine for $4 was not worth it, very small portion. Food was cold. Service was great. Will not return

Yummy its the best burger I have ever had.

My husband and I met at the Barrie location on Christmas Eve 2014. We go back for lunch every year (except 2020 because of COVID we got take out). Just celebrated 7 years and were once again welcomed warmly and given our regular table. Amazing staff and great food! Thank you for always being so good to us!

Delicious variety of craft burgers and beers. A little pricey.

For the price the burger is meh, no flavor, lacking salt, got the juicy Lucy not much cheese in there, and a juicy Lucy should have cheese oozing out of it, but there was like a dried out chunks of small cheese curds. Gravy tastes like fish for some reason. Mcdonalds has better food for sure.

Great spot for a date night, very unique experience the food came out fresh and hot, the poutine was enough for two, fries was very crispy, perfect melt on the cheese curd, reasonable portion size. I could go on about the burgers but I would be doing this all day...lets just say they are amazing, conveniently located close to the waterfront, this place is flavor town. We will be back for sure.

The first time I ordered for delivery, the food was outstanding. So we ordered again. This time, I was disappointed. The red onion on my burger was thick and poorly sliced. The burger, although seared well, was dry. The tomato was also thick and not ripe. Not money well-spent this time.

Absolutely ridiculous ... Sunny Sunday and we have one waitress and one cook ! No hostess . Were told 20 minute wait . Were now at 45 minutes still no food.... Do owners not think! Like its a weekend ... Its mothers day . I mean a little common sense

Had to literally force myself to not throw up while eating my burger. Ended up giving up and leaving half of it. Was so dry and gross, even had people try it and they said the same thing. Waitress was nice but she was all alone so we had to wait super long on a weekend (weird) and there was maybe only 3 other groups of people in there. Maybe hire her some help. Portion sizes are so bad now, I had maybe 11 fries total on my plate and had to ration them. I used to love this place, my friends and I would go often. Not so much anymore. Waste of money.

This place has been through A LOT in the days since its opening. I will say that even with all this, The Works has remained among the top 3 places to get a real burger. A place you can get real service and perhaps a spot on the patio over looking the bay. Either way this place is one of the best places to eat meat in the Simcoe area!

Fries were too salty, the dip for the sweet potatoes were waaaaay too spicy, in the burger one single lettuce and a super thin tomato slice. The hamburger meat was super thick extremely dry - my bf who loves meat could barely finish it. Maybe they need a new cook as all Oakville, Burlington and Toronto locations that we ve been to was so much better. Waitress was really nice tho.

Waited at door to be seated and was told by hostess to seat myself where ever we liked. Sat at back and waited for just over ten minutes before waitress came to ask if we wanted drinks - she said she wasnt aware we were even there, but there were only four other tables of customers while we were there: as hostess stood at kitchen window our entire visit i think the waitress was not informed of our arrival. Wanted a milkshake and it took a while for this to come out, at which point it was very watery: had chunks of ice cream floating in milk. Waitress was very nice, but seemed to be doing everything herself. Boyfriend had draft beer, the glass of which was quite dirty at the bottom, noticeable only after drinking the beer.

Burgers are AMAZING!!!!! My girlfriend and I ordered takeout whilst we ate them in the park, and it was the perfect lunch to have under the sun. Super filling, diverse and out of the box menu!

The draw to the works was always the crazy burger topping options. Theyve really trimmed down their menu and some of my old favourites are gone, but what they still have is good quality for its price point. Our server was friendly and attentive to whatever our table needed. My friends and I come back to this spot every few months, it has been reliably good.

Service was a bit slow even though it wasnt that busy. We ordered poutine and milkshakes that were pretty good. Loved how they use measuring cups as your drinking glass.

I m writing this as I ve been waiting 15 minutes for my waitress to come clear my table and bring me the bill. I love the WORKs in Milton and elsewhere, but this location is struggling. Came in just after 1 PM and am the only customer. The burger was delicious, but the fries were over fried and over salted. It s like they gave me the broken bits from the bottom of the noon fry basket but reheated them. This is the second time I ve come around 1 pm and the place is dead. Management meds to do Some thing before they re forced to close. As I walked out, the three employees in the place were all surfing the internet on their phones.

The service is excellent, its just the food itself thats gone downhill (not the kitchens fault). There are fewer burgers on the menu now, and they changed their french fries (which you also get fewer of now). Just not worth it at this price point anymore.

We are regulars and quite enjoy this place typically. However tonights meal was dreadful. I ALWAYS get the Elk patty, but today it had an odd offputting taste, almost as if was an old patty. The sweet potato fries were very greasy, and the other burger we ordered was not very tasty either. That is a shame as wed definitely think twice before ordering again. Kenzington burger is much better. Do yourself a favor and go there instead. That is now the new normal spot as a result. Disappointing indeed. We wont be back anytime soon if ever. Yuck!

Love this place. Food is always great. 4 stars as on more than one occasion I ve had to wait a long time for my order. They seem a little understaffed at times. Worth the wait but prefer to be told when placing the order it will be a long wait rather than having to wait around downtown. Otherwise no complaints. Staff are very very nice. And food is always delicious! Highly recommend the sweet potato fries!

Very expensive burgers with interesting toppings ordered a lot while in isolation. Portions are small and you pay for every add on. Price does not go down if you drop an item from a burger. I like the Juicy Lucy with bacon and Crazy Franks sauce on it. Wrecking balls are great. Good fries or chips.

Could be quicker service

This was probably one of the worst meals I have ever purchased, and I am by no means exaggerating this statement. The fries for the poutines were not good, there were less than 10 curds on both combined. I ordered mine with brisket and BBQ sauce, there was far too much sauce and one pathetic slice of brisket on top. You would have done better by taking a slice of deli roast beef and passing that off as brisket. The burgers were burnt on the outside (not charred for flavour, I am well aware of the difference) and so overcooked that you had to work up enough saliva just to choke it down. This is one of the few times in my life that I ignored politeness and flat out refused to finish my meal. I hope that you can use some of the cash you are bringing in to properly train your staff on how to cook a burger, its not that hard... because $62 for 2 burgers and poutines of this quality is just plain robbery!

We have gone to the Works in Ste Catharines often with stellar service and food. Was anticipating the same in Barrie. We ordered 3 different burgers for takeout. Instead of a KD burger, we got a cheeseburger loaded with hot peppers. The container was marked correctly, but the burger inside was not correct. The other 2 burgers were correct , but the guy was reluctant to fix the error. He argued that there was indeed KD under the cheese. lol. Eventually, the burger was replaced, but by then the correct burgers were cold. There were no condiments, utensils or even napkins in the takeout bag. What a disappointment! We will never do this again!

Food was ok, not great compared to other locations. Ordered a burger and it came with too much extra sauce that was dripping out as I ate it. The burger itself did not have great flavour either. Tasted pretty plain. Cutlery was provided to the table dirty. I wasnt planning to use it anyways so I didnt ask for another. Service was not bad and staff was friendly. Restaurant atmosphere was ok. Probably wouldnt go back to this location given there are so many burger options around.

I went here a while back and it was great! Great portions, clean and tidy. Maybe new owners now and has went way!!! Down his ok in a very negative way? I went back here with my family on September 13, 2021. Wow! It was horrible!!!!!!! Tables were all sticky. No kids menus. So, we were there, so still ordered to give the food a chance. $20 for s burger and fries to me, it should be huge portions and well put together? 5 of us literally got 20 pieces of fries, literally around that, so next to none. The burger buns were soggy and no flavour in hamburger? SORRY WE WON T BE GOING BACK!!! If I wax you, I would too, don t waste your money and go to a nice place... Staff was very sketchy is only word I can think of for them???

It is one of my favourite place. The staff and servers all are so nice and polite. There are tons of options. Best place for burger lovers. Will visit this place again. They make world s best burgers. Must visit this place to eat delicious burgers:)

Visited on Sept 26th in the evening and none of the kitchen staff were wearing masks properly while preparing food (one wasnt wearing one at all). Would not recommend dining here until proper COVID-19 precautions are taken by the staff.

That burger! Good service, too, but the burger takes the spotlight. Not just good ingredients, but also expertly cooked. Will definitely go back and recommend.

It s differently good. Very messy to eat because of all the goodness of the sauce. A little bit on the expensive side but with quality is excellent. Service was also good.

Great burgers and unlimited fries are amazing. but you pay for it $50 for lunch including tip and no alcoholic beverages.

Delicious food, friendly service and so many options. You can get your burger/chicken/mushroom etc with any combo of crazy and tasty toppings you can imagine. They also have more plain options for people who just want the basics, and they have a ton of vegetarian and gluten free options so this is a safe place to go for all kinds of eaters. Everything Ive ever tried has been really good. The only thing I would say though are the prices are a bit high for what you get, if this place was less expensive it would be perfect but for a treat its great.

1 hour 20 minutes for two burgers? This is absoltely unacceptable fot a restaurant at all. If you want to save money and TIME, go somewhere else. The burgers are overpriced too.

Pleasant service.... however, the lettuce and veggies were not washed or rinsed at all... there was literally 8-9 little bugs crawling all over and dirt was still on the base of the lettuce. (I appreciate its freshness but that was a bit too fresh ) Also wayyyy overpriced for what you get.. Go to one of the wonderful local restaurants instead.

My family usually enjoy the food at the Works in Burlington so we stopped here in Barrie, for a visit. Food was great, as expected. The restaurant itself seemed in need of some TLC. It was a bit grubby.

We love the Burlington location and decided to try this location in Barrie. The server was very pleasant however the service was incredibly slow. Food was disappointing, burgers were overcooked, buns were stale, drinks arrived with no ice and took approximately 10 minutes to arrive. Two of our orders had wrong sides. This restaurant appeared dirty and the downstairs area smelled like garbage and Sulphur. The fries were good, so if you go maybe stick to those :)

Server was attentive, but service was quite slow (compared to previous visits). Burger was very dry. Possibly under new ownership. May return in the future to see if they fixed these quirks.

In my humble opinion YUCK. Terrible a toasted bun that was ice cold pink in the meat a few fries that were like warm at best gravy was a gluttonous mess with no flavor Way over priced. Dont waste your money. A glass of beer and a burger $45.06. I must sat that our server was top notch which was the only thing I enjoyed. Will I go back or reccomend HELL NO!!!!

Food was good! ..service...not really!

They only get 1 star as the woman serving us seemed friendly, we couldnt hear her but she seemed friendly. We used to go here on a regular basis until the virus closed everything down. Today is my husbands birthday and he wanted to go to the Works as he use to love this place. They cut the portion significantly with the fries and the burger patty was the size of a McDonalds cheese burger. When I asked for a refill on my ice tea and the server seemed confused. We dined inside as the weather was wet and cold outside, inside was freezing cold . My normally plentiful fries got cold within minutes. My husband ordered a Canadian draft which had two and a half inches of foam on top. Our burgers were missing toppings, we wouldve asked for what was missing but we were afraid that not only would our burgers would get colder but something might happen to our burger.

Cant go wrong with the Works. Great burgers every time
