Zio's Italian Comfort Food in Barrie

We hosted our team staff party where the menu was selected beforehand. Gian Carlo was able to accommodate our group two weeks in advance, and that night, his staff did an amazing job! The Cesar salad and pasta in Alfredo Sauce was absolutely delicious. Thank you, Gian Carlo and staff, for making that evening a memorable one. You made new clients within our party. We will be back!

If I could afford to eat out every day, it would be Zio s! I live every item on their menu so much I have the hardest time choosing! Staff and owner and so kind and the food is amazing. Tender meat, amazing pasta and the sandwiches are amazing.

UPDATED: The owner of this restaurant reached out to me personally to discuss the issue we had. It turns out that the issue was actually with the delivery service we ordered from and not from the restaurant. John Carlo invited us to come in and try them again as his guest, which we did and the food was awesome! I was totally impressed with the customer service from this restaurant and our first choice for Italian will definitely be Zio s We ordered two sandwiches. The menu said they came with onions, green peppers and mushrooms but we received meat and cheese only. Very underwhelmed!! Won t be choosing this restaurant again!

Came here for a veal sandwich and it really is the best veal sandwich that I ve had. I ve been back a few times to try different things and as an Italian I can say that the food is authentic and the atmosphere is great. If you haven t been to Zio s, go check it out!

I absolutely love their food! The chicken fettuccine Alfredo is delicious and my husband loves the spaghetti Bolognese. We were so happy to find a place that uses beef instead of pork.

I always loved their food & service. I am changing my review from 5 star to 1 . We were their regular customer everytime we ask for room temperature water for kid they dont have it which is not a problem so i just take sealed waterbottle for my kid and they never had any concerns Few days ago we went to the restaurant and a teenager was working she said outside water is not allowed. I asked her do u have water for kids room temperature which they dont have. She doesn t have any understanding about kids. The other table guys also started talking for us that they have kid let them keep the water bottle but she didn t care. That was our last visit.

Weve ordered for from here multiple times and its always been great quality. Our most recent order was through Uber and the wrong order was delivered. The owner at Zios was incredibly helpful and made our order and delivered it us to make up for the error. Fantastic customer service!

The food here is truly out of this world delicious. My partner is an incredible cook, so I m always skeptical of new places the cooking never seems to taste better than home, until we found Zio s. We ve tried the Alfredo, tortellini and pizza and can confidently say we won t be going elsewhere in Barrie for pizza or pasta! This is comfort food at its best!

Today we had afredo with fetechino noodles and chicken, a personal pizza, garlic bread and a glass of wine each. Service was excellent. Food was hot and delicious. Alfredo was saucy and creamy. Prices were reasonable. Nice decor. Highly recommended restaurant. Parking: Go to side lot where restaurant entrance is located.

First time we have been was tonight. Had the veal sandwich with all the toppings. Very satisfying.The veal was thinly sliced and stacked. Finally found a great veal sandwich in Barrie! We also had a Panzo and the crust was perfect. Awesome find! We will be back...maybe tomorrow...lol

Some of the best Italian food I have had. Came to town for a hockey game and tried it on a whim. The bruschetta was great, especially the bread. The sauce on the pasta was fantastic and absolutely filling. The prices were super reasonable as well. Definitely coming back again with some friends

I reached out to this hidden gem of a restaurant to see if they could cater/host a family gathering of up to 30 people for lunch after a funeral service on the family day stat holiday. Giancarlo & Brandy even though it should have been a day off for them, chose to open their kitchen for us and catered our family gathering and was very reasonably priced. When a restaurant could have over charge, they did not. The food was delicious, the pizza, pasta and salad kept coming out and it was all very tasty and amazing. Their homemade Cesar dressing has got to be the best hands down especially if you love garlic. The atmosphere was very comforting, the Italian music was soothing, there was plenty of room and overall the experience was amazing. Zios you did not disappoint this Italian family, Thank you for everything.

We came her based on the information found on there website. Based on the website, price seem reasonable and they had a good kids menu. Unfortunately what we found the website was outdated. The prices were increased by 25% and they eliminated the kids menu (which they told us after we received our meals). Anyways, we the Bruschetta, Spaghetti & Meatballs, Alfredo and Sausage & Peppers. The Alfredo was good but the rest was mediocre at best. We only ask please update the website.

Another 5 star review for this excellent establishment! Hubby & I fancied a pizza on Friday evening though our treat day is Saturday. I placed the order for a large pizza over phone and asked what the bill would be. When I learnt it was $45, an amount I didnt want to spend on Friday - I explained as much to the lovely and patient lady on the phone and changed the order to a small pizza. We go to pick up the pizza, pay for the small pizza and then they hand us a large pizza with a Happy New Year and a big smile - we were blown away by their generosity!

Fantastic food. We shared the Caesar (definitely in my top 5 of all Caesars I have had - they even sell their dressing), the fettuccine Alfredo and the veal sandwich, all made fresh. Really good, hot and delicious. The homemade hot sauce is also tasty. Do yourself a favour and check it out.

Excellent Italian family restaurant... super food quality and freshness

Honestly i m not one to leave a review on places let alone a bad one but the way this restaurant treats delivery drivers is ridiculous. Man at front counter told me that I had to have a hot bag (NOT REQUIRED TO HAVE A HOTBAG FOR DELIVERIES) and told me that he doesn t give food to drivers without a hot bag. He said it would slide this one time but the next time I come back i have to have a hot bag. None of this would have been an issue if they were more understanding and nice. But telling by previous reviews, this isn t a new problem.

Always come here when I am in the mood for authentic Italian food. The Ceasar salad dressing is home made. The best in town. Also its available for purchase.

The best pasta Ive ever had! Everything is made fresh, from sauces to the pasta and you can taste it. Server was super friendly and helpful in describing dishes to us. Will DEFINITELY come back again

Great place to eat. Only 5 minutes from our hotel. They dont have restaurant delivery other than by a couple delivery services, but we went anyway. Glad we did! Food was fabulous, service was great (thankfully it didnt come all at once like most restaurants; had time to enjoy our salads and appetizers). Ive saved Zios in my notes so will always visit there when passing through Barrie. You wont be disappointed.

Authentic Sicilian food (not Americanized) at a higher cost. Their tomato sauce and pasta are fantastic, but their garlic bread is very low tier. Its literally just sliced bread with garlic butter. Most dishes are fine, but this isnt for everybody due to accurate Sicilian-style foods (such as eggs & peas in lasagna) but if you enjoy authenticity, then theyre the best in town. Pop comes with a single refill.

Great catering by Giancarlo and his family for 40 hungry teen agers last Saturday evening. Salads, two delicious pasta choices, dessert and soft drinks, all delivered to out hotel for a very reasonable price.

Best veal sandwiches in Barrie.

If I had know that their $16 dollar homemade bruessata was made on 4 pieces of white sliced grocerystore bagged bread I would not have ordered it ( they said their bread was made in house).... Unless they make and distribute Wonder Bread from their restaurant they didnt make their over priced not so tasty bruessata bread... In terms of the rest of my families $220 dollar meal we all felt disappointed because this restaurant is so beyond over priced for the quality of food we received... I just hope I save some other family by telling them to spend their hard earned money somewhere else because this restaurant isnt worth it.

The menu online is outdated and the hours are wrong on Google. Dining in ends around 7:30/8 but they still do take out. Overall though the food was delicious (the bolognese sauce was sooo good!) and the staff there were great, just wish online info was more accurate for here.

Still nice pizza. Lock down made it frustrating cant sit down and eat it as it comes out of the oven. Instead in the cold weather and driving home pizza cooled off a bit. But isnt that why they invented microwaves?

The place was cozy and clean but food was average. For example, if you order garlic bread, you will get four slices of walmart white bread toasted with some garlic spread. Fries were non-crispy and kinda burnt. But its just value for money. You get what you pay for.

After spending over a year looking for a good Italian restaurant in Barrie I finally found this one. We ordered veal sandwiches and pizza and it s the best by far. So glad to have found this place.

We are relatively new to Barrie moved here just over a year ago and finally found a restaurant who knows how to make the best veal sandwiches and great pizza ! On top of this their caesar dressing is to die for..so creamy and light . Being from TO we know our veal sandwiches and these ones are far superior to any of those restaurants. This is our go to place and will continue to be . A gem in Barrie!

Last evening my husband & had our weekly date night and wanted to try something new. I have driven by this restaurant several times and was excited to try. We arrived around 6:30 PM and when we entered we saw we would be the only people in the restaurant. I was partly excited because I was looking forward to a quiet evening. The moment we entered the server looked absolutely annoyed. She side heavily, Grab the menus and just walked towards a table, she didn t even say hello, or welcome or follow me. She put the menus down walked away before we even sat down and said she ll be back shortly. Her tone was annoyed and rude. Again never greeting us. We did not feel welcome and felt like a big inconvenience just being there. We did not stay as I did not want to spend a date night and $$$ being treated rudely and not welcome. So we went to another Italian restaurant in town where we were welcomed and smiled at the moment we walked in. If I m going out for dinner I don t think it s too much to ask to have polite servers, made to feel welcome and not an inconvenience.

My mother and I enjoyed a late lunch here. Beverages were served - Orange Pekoe tea for her, ice tea for myself. We both ordered the Chicken Parmesan. Hers with spaghetti, mine with penne. It came with a large bowl of Caesar Salad and Zios homemade dressing. I had read online that it was very good dressing and I absolutely agree! It was quite flavourful. The chicken parm was three pieces of breaded chicken breast and an amazingly large amount of pasta. Tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese brought it all together. Hot and delicious! Needless to say, we had our fill and still took home enough for another meal. With the kindness of the server and the great food, we definitely have plans to return!

We have had multiple caterings and takeout dinners from Zio s and we are never disappointed. Great portions, tasty, and consistent. As I m writing this review we are waiting on a pizza to go. One of the things I always have to take home is the Caesar dressing

Ordered from here today...got a veal sandwich it was ok...the cesar salad i ordered was very disappointing as from an Italian eatery you would expect a decent salad not just lettuce and dressing...where were the crutions and bacon bit and parm for the salad?? We were recently in Barrie for a soccer tournament. I had made arrangements for our team dinner with the owner Giancarlo a week prior to attending. The experience/service was excellent. Our entire team and parents were accommodated in the restaurant and we were fed delicious pizza, pastas, salads, garlic bread for a very reasonable price. I highly recommend this place. Truly a great family owned business that offers a kind friendly environment. Thumbs up to them!

Came from out of town with the family and checked this place out August 1st. All 5 of us thought the food was very good and we had large portions of it. I think the waitress name was Brandi. Great service and very friendly. Would be our go too restaurant next time we are in Barrie.

The service from the waitress was great. Very friendly and helpful. However, this was easily the worst chicken parmesan I ve had in a long time. It was burnt and the ingredients used for topping were clearly low quality. My university cafeteria did a better job. Not only this but I heard the manager/cook or whatever his job is yelling at the waitress saying I don t know what it is you don t understand today! . He sounded abusive in his tone with most things he said to her. The only reason I m not giving a 1 star review is because the place SEEMED clean and the waitress was nice.

I went to Zios last night and got takeout. First time ever trying it out. The pasta was so great! The garlic bread was great! I got to meet the owner, who took my order and made the pasta fresh to order. Such a genuine dude! Will grab dinner from here again, and I d HIGHLY recommend!

Terrible pizza. Who puts toppings under cheese? Called toppings for a reason. Ordered thin crust, well done. Came out doughy and thick. No flavor. Terrible free kraft garlic dipping sauce. Would not recommend the pizza. I m sure something else might be a better choice.

Delicious food, and great customer service !

First time here, salad was great. Got chicken parm and asked for NO hot peppers. Took a bite to my mouth on fire. I cannot eat hot peppers, it upsets my stomach. I had to dismantle the entire sandwich to at least have something to eat. The peppers made the entire thing just way to hot. I am going to pay for it later even eating the little bit I did. Sad because it would have been a very yummy sandwich except for that.

We came here on a recommendation by the ladies at Ruby Tattoo Studio. And my husband and i love it. Hes a huge panzerotti fan, everything at Zios is made in house. Everything is fresh and cooked perfectly. I brought my parents here and they were also very impressed. I highly recommend this restaurant if you like Italian comfort food. Its family run, wholesome, friendly environment. Try their caesar salad. Try everything The only thing this place is missing is desserts!

I hate to have to leave this review... but I feel I must. Today I got a pick up order of pasta and I was a little put off by seeing a large breed dog in their kitchen. I decided not to say anything and just get my food and go. Unforunately upon eating the small portion for $24 dollar pasta with chicken dish, about 2 hours later my stomach started hurting very badly and I had to go to the toilet (if you know what I mean....) And the pasta was the only food I was able to eat today because of the stomach ache and bad washroom issues. Im not sure if it has something to do with a dog being loose in their kitchen but im not too happy. I feel really sick.

I took a chance during the lockdown to order a nice meal. I wanted GOOD pizza. Skip the dishes suggested Zios but Trip Advisor is the bottom line. Seems everyone feels as I. Amazing taste, quality and care Id expect sitting in the restaurant. One of the recent comments suggested Caesar Salad so i ordered it with my pizza.

The veal sandwich was really good

Had the chicken parm sandwich with fries from Zio s. Definitely close to old school style of home cooking from northern Italy. The meal was warm and tasty, fries where perfect and the portion was a good size, my only one complaint is the price was a little steep at $17 for a sandwich other then that I d go back for another sandwich!

Fantastic family owned Italian spot thats just a little off the beaten path. If youre looking to get your moneys worth from a restaurant this is the place to go. The food is delicious home style Italian and there couldnt be a more relaxed atmosphere and staff to enjoy it from.

Love the food from this place my go to now

Well that was a dud. Heard good things but just got the pasta today and not sure what kind of tomatoes they use but very dark and flavour is off. Noodles were over cooked and just fell apart when you tried to pick them up with a fork. Did not enjoy pasta. Garlic bread was alright though and the owner is super nice. However that pasta is super pricey and not very tasty. I ll stick to Mondos in Barrie for that kind of pasta

I never knew about Zios. Extremely happy to have had it mentioned as a local choice for dinner last night. Amazing yummy pizza and really good home made ceasar dressing. Do yourself a favour and try it. Great friendly service.

Comfort food, excellent service, bedt garlicky Caesar salad ever.

The veal sandwich was just what was needed but then the in- house ceaser salad dressing stole the show. (the owner was reluctant to reveal the family recipe...)

This is my go to when I feel like a Veal Sandwich. Highly recommend this Italian restaurant for any of your needs. Catering, dine in or take-out.

BEST CEASER DRESSING IVE EVER HAD!!!

Ordered dinner here and was not impressed. I had the Fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken and a friend ordered wings and fries we also did an order of garlic toast. The pasta was ok, but the garlic toast was very bland, no taste to it at all. Friend said wings were good but the fries were not good at all and only ate a handful of them. Was hoping for a great experience since Ive heard good things about this restaurant but I definitely wont be back.

We ordered takeout from Zios, we both got panzerottis and shared a caesar salad and they were both SOOO good! Definitely recommend 100%, and we will absolutely order from them again!

Veal is good but pasta has no taste not even salt or pepper.

My favorite ppl and food

Had a veal sandwich recently. The bun was a let down (focaccia or panini would have been appreciated), but the veal was freshly made (crisp breading, and very thin), and the mixed veggies on top were amazing! They were obviously fried specifically for the sandwich, and were done just long enough to soften the peppers and onions, but neither were mushy as is often the case in this type of sandwich !

With a special request of urgency, The team together pulled off nothing short of exceptional customer service. They had me eating within 15 minutes. And I caught my train! Did I mention the homemade sauce and dressing are delicious?

Had an order of spaghetti & meatballs. Sauce tasted like canned sauce and meatballs should be called breadballs, Definitely did not taste like Italian homemade food.

So far the best veal parm with mommas home made peppers and pizzas.......with mommas homemade peppers. Life changer.
