Sam Chen, owner of Sakana House, is, with his staff, celebrating of the restaurant’s third year in business. As Sam’s regular customers can tell you, “sakana” in Japanese means “fish.” And those customers, pardon the pun, definitely are hooked on the delectable Japanese and Chinese dishes found at Sakana House. Earlier this year not only did they expand the floor space to hold an additional 50 seats, they also increased convenience via technology - now hungry guests can use their I-Pad to order specific items from the all-you-can-eat offerings available. (A-la-carte and take-out service are also featured at Sakana House.) The popularity of his restaurant is pushed primarily on the word of loyal customers.
Always delicious and the staff is always amazing. Whenever I place an order for pickup, it’s ready in no time at all! The crispy spicy avocado roll is the best!
We recently dined at Sakana House, and it was an excellent experience! The sushi was fresh, flavorful, and offered a fantastic variety, perfect for an all-you-can-eat meal. Each roll was beautifully presented, and the selection ensured there was something for everyone. It was a real treat to explore so many different flavors and textures in one sitting. Interestingly, in Hebrew, the word "sakana" means "danger," but there was nothing dangerous about this meal—except perhaps how easy it was to eat too much! The atmosphere was welcoming, and the service was attentive, making it a truly enjoyable outing. We'll definitely be back!
We ordered sushi and chicken fried rice and both tasted very good . Also the price was really good . I should definitely give special mention to their service and they also gave complementary ice cream too.
New to the area and the city. Ordered a takeout, trying this restaurant for first time. Very good sushi, fresh sashimi and tasty maki rolls. Rainbow roll was amazing!
Been going here for years. Always been 5 stars. But adjusting my review because lately the food has been going downhill. Ordered recently and noticed a lot of shrinkflation and some of the food just taste fake now. Especially the beef. Had to throw a couple things in the garbage. I understand things have gotten expensive. But keep the quality and adjust prices accordingly. It still need to be edible
Bringing vegetarian and non-vegetarian food items in the same plate with fish eggs spilling over to the vegetarian Sushis, confusion amongst the staff over ordered items, and an incorrect bill !!! To add to this, we did not like the taste of any of the vegetarian food items we had ordered. This couldn't have gotten worse. It was hard to conclude whether the staff was having a bad day or us. However, giving one star just because we were served a complimentary ice cream whose flavors again did not taste good.
They have many food options to choose from compared to other Japanese restaurants. We enjoyed and savored the food. Would definitely go back again. We paid cash and have discount by doing so. Almost 40 dollars per person for dinner time on weekends, but worth it. All the food we ordered were eaten and nothing was wasted. Free parking. All you can eat restaurant.
It was good! We went there with family and the food was fresh compare with the last time we were there. We order sushi, sashimi, stir fried rice, noodles, beef chicken. I enjoyed the food and my belly didn’t ended up hurting as it happens sometimes with this type of food. The cheese wontons are super good and they are only available for dinner menu.
This Sushi Restaurant is absolutely superb! The selection of items is extensive & the quality is top notch! I have been dining at this location since 2016 and always love when I step in and sit down & review the items on the iPad & enjoy a wonderful meal. Theres lots to consume, so bring your appetite! Have fun everybody!
Great place and price is reasonable.
Im sorry to say the food is not what I remembered. Either that or the price simply no longer reflects the quality. Ive eaten here more than 10 times over the years and have been a little disappointed recently so my score has been updated. The staff is still super friendly and attentive as always. Ill give you guys another chance at some point in the future, but you need to do better for that price, theres more competition in town now.
Giving 1 star because your server on the phone said I have no time to take orders, said to go online and hung up on me. That s very bad service.
A great sushi experience is hard to find in Barrie. This is a casual, all you can eat place, and you order off a tablet. It isnt bad, just a bit lacklustre. Some people love Sakana House! Go and see what you think.
Very clean sushi restaurant. Lots of variety in sushi choices.
Sushi is not as good as before.
Parking: Waiters and waitresses are not friendly. One waitress stared at our table with a stern looking face for two minutes. I smiled but she did not respond but kept staring looking mean. When I came into restaurant a waiter stood in front of me blocking my entrance not saying a word. I then asked if they were closing soon and he then backed up saying no and letting me in. The atmosphere was tense amongst staff and not sure why. When we ordered, they often sent less than we ordered. For example my husband and I ordered six small salmon teriyaki and they sent four. The food is very tasty but one does not feel comfortable eating there!
I wasnt a huge fan of this location and its because we were sat in the back corner, it felt like we were being watched on video (we were) for queues on when to take and bring things. It was lunch hour and some of the salmon rolls I ordered had the salmon half frozen, bit icy. Aside from that everything was great.
Testy food served with a very big smile Vegetarian options: Nice vegetable food served Food : 4/5 |
Would never order from this restaurant again. Rude, combative and wouldnt allow my son to pick up our order! Uber eats pickup order doesnt work well at all!
Lovely staff and delightful atmosphere followed by tasty bits and bites. Vegetarian options: Good for all dietary types. Dietary restrictions: Right off the bat, they asked if there were allergies. Parking: Many spots in an awkward Plaza and difficult to find handicap parking Wheelchair accessibility: The restaurant it self seems to accommodate needs but the Plaza not so much
Good food
The food is not consistent and has been vomit inducing. Prices are not very good, and the service is terrible.
I wouldn t recommend this place . There s something wrong with the hygiene of the place.
Great food and wonderful place for medium to large groups
Good service clean environment. Sushi was great and would recommend the soups. Had a hard time parking and the seating had the look of a fast food joint.
Excellent food. Fresh and delicious
Good food Good service Clean Decent parking Food : 4/5 |
Great food
Food was really. Service sucked. We had one waiter tell us we had to eat all the rice very rudely. They were upset that we asked for red tuna sushi and we eat only the tuna and not the rice. We explained that we wanted red tuna sashimi and they dont have it on there menu. So they were very rude to us because we wouldnt eat the shitty rice. This place is not recommended to eat at because of how rude they are.
Best food
The food was barely edible (overcooked rice, chewy seaweed, improperly cut fish) and the service was horribly slow even though there was only three other occupied tables. I will not be returning.
Extremely poor service we ate one out of six pieces of sushi that we ordered and the fish was bad. However, the managers told us that we ordered it so we must pay for it. Extremely rude my friend ate nothing wouldn t recommend coming here at all will spread the world this place has poor service an not correct cooked fish beware A food poison
Poor service and rude waiters, I didn t see the same waiter the whole time at our dinner. It took more than 20 minutes for us to even place our orders and when the food came my boyfriend didn t get what he asked for, and when we asked to remove it from the bill and they offered free ice cream to compensate. Then took another 30 minutes at our table to wait for them to bring us the bill. Not a professional or pleasant experience at all
Unclear service, no respectful communication.
Unfortunately the food lacked flavour, chicken teriyaki bento box was dry and the sauce was so watery. Starter salad and soup was yummy. Nice and quick staff. Bathrooms were atrocious, so gross.
Avocado made sushi tasted good. The chicken cutlet was tasteless and not comparable to other sushi places. The crispy spicy salmon also both looked and tasted less of other restaurants. It felt as if the salmon was smashed or even grounded somehow and not good.
Really good quality food, all their products tasted very fresh. Missing some of the premium items but overall an excellent place. Service was spot on, always there to help and check up on you.
I feel so sorry for this place that once used to be on point in terms of good service. Defenitely quality of service has gone down terribly. Staff seems so confused and clearly they cannot manage the volume. We ate over there today and went for dinner and normally our order would get served within 5-7 mins max but this time we had to wait a ridiculous amount of time and no one ever bothered to ask if we needed to order more. Everything g looked chaotic although the number of in person diners looked manageable. I believe they are going towards only take out friendly but if that is the case then why even bother serve people in house ?
Amazing sushi and wonderful staff!
The best sushi place in town, fast and easy orders, super friendly staff, tasty food and and big food menu.
Went for AYCE after a few take out orders. While takeout served fresh fish, AYCE was a different story. The fish was not fresh, nothing was good besides the miso soup. Seems like they tried to get rid of all the soon to be expired seafood on weekday AYCE. Would never go back. Found better sushi spots in Barrie Parking: About 25 spots shared by multiple businesses
The food is always amazing. I have been eating here for years.
The food is really good, I liked everything from rolls, sashimi , teriyaki meats and appetizers. No complaints about the quality of food or its taste. I did find the time between dishes to come out was a bit too long considering there was only one other table. The service is generally great but there are too many waiters and they are making circles around the restaurant way too much. I felt like I had to eat quick because there was someone at our table ready to take the plate every 30 seconds. It doesn t not great a relaxing environment and I can t enjoy my food when someone is basically hovering over me. Please give your customers time to eat! The vibe of the restaurant is okay, though I think that cleaning supplies and chemicals shouldn t be out on the tables out in the dining area.
Fantastic
The staff is always extremely friendly with my kids, always chatting with them and treating them well. Food is great, and typically very quick- its our go to sushi dinner and our kids favourite place to eat!
I love Sakana House at the North location more than South location. The food is better, the roll is more tide and fresh. Also the service at North location is more friendly and better.
Beat sushi place in Barrie. Service is great too. Same quality as Matsuda in GTA. Was there 5 times and quality never dropped service is fast and food is delicious
Poor communication
Winnie was absolutely amazing. She was so polite and treated my friend and I with so much kindness while we were there. She was at our table every couple minutes to make sure everything was well! Highly recommended her and this restaurant :)
Over priced
Their food is great, however I have a gluten allergy, and they have been pretty awful with accommodating that. I ve given it a few chances because I really like their menu but they fail on the gluten free accommodations almost every time. And some of the staff have been rude about it. Great food, great place, bad about allergies. I m sad to say I won t be going back or ordering from them again.
Worth it!!
Love the food all u can eat sushi. Went first time and I kepted going back
Used to be much better. Food across the board is bland now. Wont come back.
The sushi and service was great
Very fast service and a nice atmosphere. A little expensive but very good!
Kid-friendliness: Modified their chopsticks so our 2 year old could pick up her food! Food
Updated review- the food is still great, but the service is poor!!! Table of 10 people paid 15% tip..I dont mind to pay, but for service....The service was awful- seen the waitress only when bringing the food...no one took empty plates, no one inquired if drink refill or anything else needed...
Amazing food Vegetarian options: Veg tempura best in Barrie Recommended dishes Dumplings, Bento Box Fall with Chicken Teriyaki
Good, quick service and nice staff was just a lil dirty but food was really good
Havent had bad sushi for a long time. The ikura (salmon roe) wasnt fresh, felt hard, and tasted fishy. They didnt clean the salmon roe properly. The quality of the sushi is worse than Costco sushi. Please do better. If the ingredients are not fresh, don t serve them to guests. The quality of the ingredients is even worse than the sushi bought from the supermarket. The customers here are not idiots and being so close to Toronto, the customers know what good and bad quality food is.
Great food, great service! Recommend to anyone looking for a good place to eat!
I find its the best spot for sushi in Barrie! Kid-friendliness: They where totally ok with the noise and mess my 2 toddlers where making. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Food : 5/5 |
I am incredibly sad to write this, as I have been a regular at this restaurant for almost 3 years now. Saturday April 13th, I went out for all you can eat dinner with my roommate. While eating I noticed that a large portion if the red onions in my beef tataki were blue, fuzzy and moldy. We understand that rotten produce happens but the fact that it was washed, chopped, plated and still served to a customer was quite off putting to both of us. We politely brought this to the attention of the waiter who was very apologetic and immediately brought it to the owners attention. The owner however, couldnt seem to care less. He simply stated that the Onions were bad and he could offer us a 10% discount on our entire meal and nothing more. That was all he had in his power. We were floored as this is terrible customer service, especially seeing as we regularly come there to dine in and I was potentially eating mold literally 5 minutes prior in his restaurant. Due to this upsetting experience, I can no longer recommend this restaurant to anyone in good faith. Very disappointing.
WARNING- ABUSIVE! The food was very fresh (Salmon Sashimi was excellent), nicely plated and very fairly priced! Service was exceptional; we didn t have to wait at all even though the place was quite busy - our preference was to be seated at a particular table and they had no problem letting us sit where we liked. Staff were very attentive, friendly and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming - note: they don t accept Amex. Keep up the great work Sakana house, we will be coming back frequently. WARNING!: Re All-you-can-eat Sashimi & Abuse 1. We did return 3 more times. On 2 of the 3 occasions I ordered mainly salmon sashimi and my partner ordered other things. 2. On my second visit, the order limit for salmon sashimi was reduced from 12pc per order to 6pc per order on their tablets. I suspected the reason may have been the great prices for the high quality sashimi, but I couldn t know for sure. I had read a prior review on google that indicated that this place was very slow to bring sashimi orders and that is consistent with my observations. 3. My partner and I noticed that on our third visit, they were extremely reluctant to bring salmon sashimi orders at all. We waited at least 15 minutes between 6 piece salmon orders and they even altered the contents (by dramatically increasing the rice and charging 5$ ea, even though they told us not to worry about it before we accepted the orders) of any other that contained anything other than fish (likely, to reduce the cost) 4. We visited this afternoon and were shocked when we were falsely accused of having disrespected the staff on our prior visit and, as a consequence, had to order from the a-la-carte menu but not all-you-can-eat as a consequence of having disrespected the staff previously. 5. My partner was so upset by this very public and undeserved repudiation that he left on foot. I stayed and ordered three Sapporo beers as I reflected on the terrible abuse we had just been subjected to. 6. The manager who made the false accusations of disrespecting the staff said he had watched video of your behaviour many times when I suggested that there must have been some misunderstanding. 6. While I sat alone in the restaurant, several staff came up to me with great kindness and explained that this particular manager can be very mean and that he cares too much about the bottom line. 7. The staff member that we were falsely accused of having disrespected was exceedingly kind and went out of her way to tell me this is not your fault . 8. Having been humiliated in public and slandered by the apparent manager of this location, I was struck by the kindness of the staff whom I was falsely accused of disrespecting - I discreetly offered a 100$ cash tip, which they actually refused (the staff are good people). 9. I paid for my 3 beers with a tip and left. Conclusion: It s plain and obvious that the manger of this location was not happy with the prices he set for salmon sashimi on the all-you-can-eat menu. Instead of taking ownership of the pricing issue that he caused, he elected to abuse myself and my partner by making false accusations in public of a defamatory nature - he humiliated us both and insisted that, as a consequence of disrespecting the staff , I could only order from the a-la-carte menu rather than the all-you-can-eat. It doesn t take a Rhodes Scholar to note that, had staff disrespect been a good faith concern, rather than the cost of sashimi, a patron would be refused service entirely rather than granted service but denied all-you-can-eat pricing. The use of false pretences, abuse and public humiliation in bad faith is unacceptable. The food at this restraint is quite good, the prices for sashimi on the all-you-can-eat menus are obviously too-good, the staff are very kind and the relevant manager is a terrible human being. Make of that what you will. But don t penalize the staff, they re lovely - I would go back but for this experience because, as I have already noted, the food is excellent. This experience was deeply upsetting.
We arrived at lunch time and were asked lunch or dinner. It was 130 so we said lunch. After our first round of food and minutes later- a woman came and tried to take the tablet and say it was last call for lunch and we had ten minutes left to order whatever else we wanted. We tried to explain that we were not told that when asked if we wanted the lunch or dinner menu and the staff began arguing and blaming us. We tried to explain that expecting us to know what we wanted and order everything within ten minutes and then be done was not okay. There was no accountability for the horrible communication and service. We ended up leaving after only one round and charged full price. The food wasnt good either with poor quality and flavor. We wanted to go to Noble where its consistently amazing and thought we would give here a try. Awful service, no adequate communication and really poor quality sushi.
Outstanding!
Hands down the best Sushi in Barrie and renowned by Barrie residents as being the best. Their Sushi is always fresh and of the highest quality! Dietary restrictions: Offers Gluten free Soy and other products
Overall its a great all you cat eat place in Barrie. Were going there almost on a monthly/ quarterly basis. Id recommend this place to my friends.
The service was awesome, waitress super nice and friendly . Atmosphere is cozy, food comes fast and feels comfy. However... the food quality is not there... nothing stood out to me, the food was just ok, and for the pricing I wouldnt go back Noble Cusine sushi is much better and cheaper. Salmon dragon roll was good, but the tempura, sashimi, and udon was very mid level taste.
We had the all you can eat option at the Cundles location. Servers were quick to take dirty plates away and were friendly Vegetarian options: Lots of options
My partner and I have ordered from Sakana House multiple times in the past, and recently decided to dine out with the kids to spoil ourselves a little. Despite coming in during the Friday dinner time rush (and having not booked a reservation, as this was a spur of the moment decision) we were seated right away and treated warmly. The food was phenomenal as always, and our servers were wonderfully pleasant and delightful to work with. Nana, our main server for the evening was exceptional and ensured we enjoyed ourselves, even going as far as to joke with us and have a brief conversation when she had the time. I can say with confidence, Ive yet to have sushi from anywhere that is better than Sakana House, and having had the chance to eat there in person I cant recommend them enough. We look forward to visiting again! If youre looking for exceptional food and a friendly dining experience, check them out!
This location was very nice, it was affordable, and they were easy to talk to. We got the Maki Tray A (36 pcs) and it was the perfect amount for me and my girls. Thank you Food : 5/5
very very very bad experience. I used to go to this place every month. It took me 1 hour to drive there from Toronto. But this time, I was extremely disappointed because it took forever to get your sashimi orders. The sushi is not that good as before. I am sure the restaurants sign is correct but the quality of the sashimi and sushi are very very bad. I wont go there anymore. Good Luck.
We made it for the lunch service but we finished eating when the dinner service started. we got charged the dinner service , was upsetting be carfull , the food was amazing though
Amazing sushi! Wonderful service!
Best sushi in Barrie!
Very affordable, customer service has been exemplary
All you can eat sushi is the way to go. Great selection of sushi as well as, noodle, beef, tempura and chicken dishes. The staff is attentive and personable.
We signed up upon arrival. Waited for an hour hoping to be seated. Received a text message that table is ready. When i got to the front to get seated. The person told me that our table is cancelled because she called us and we werent there. It was less than a minute when I received their text to going back in to the restaurant. Very disappointed for our treatment at this facility
One of the best sushi places for Barrie. They have a wide selection and their food is consistently good. Parking: Its in a small plaza but theres plenty of parking. Wheelchair accessibility: Has wheelchair accessible doors.
Great food and polite staff! Highly recommend it
Amazing food. Highly recommend! If youre coming on a Friday or Saturday evening make sure to make reservations as there will likely be a long wait otherwise
Servers got everything out quickly. Food was very tasty. For a large group going it was impressive that they kept up on a Friday for us.
Best sushi in town, been going since they opened, Sam and Jackie are the best.
Food was good, but as for the service, when I get sushi they normally bring out things at a reasonable pace, bit they brought EVERYTHING at the same time, even my appetizers. We had a table overflowing with food and had to try and choke down our food to make more room. By the time we got to most of our stuff, it was soggy or cold. The food for the most part was good but they need to work on service
Good food and fast and attentive service
Best sushi Ive had in Barrie or surrounding areas.
Best sushi and bento box experience in Barrie! Always fresh and delicious. We have been many times and never disappointed. Well done!
The food was just bad, no flavour, everything tasted old, it was cold, the worst sushi I ve had to be honest. Try another place instead of here.
2 hours waiting for food from these people, we will call you back, we will call you back, driver left an hour ago should be there soon. Driver shows up wife had to leave for work they dont even offer a discount. You people should be ashamed of yourselves!
Went in on Valentines day, place was super packed, tons of people at the door. The staff were composed, tried to deal with everyone in a helpful was and the food never stopped in quality while being served in a reasonable amount of time Will go back
Delicious
I would not even give 1 star. We went to all you can eat at 2:10 pm and they told us that we will take the Ipad way at 2:45 pm as the dinner time starts. We talk to them over the call that we will be there at 2:00 pm for all you can eat and they told nothing about it this policy. The option they gave to us was you pay for dinner at 2:00 pm so that you have enough time to order and eat what ever you like. The thing was they want us to pay for dinner as they earn more in that.
Sushi was well put together, high quality and absolutely delicious. Service was friendly and efficient. Will definitely be back again.
Very expensive for the quality and quantity, would I go back probably but not likely
Fast and friendly service. Sushi and sashimi are fresh. Hot food was hot and flavourful.
Great food and service. The staff was excellent. I have a shellfish allergy they gave me a separate tablet to order my dinner on and It was locked to have shell fish made and delivered.
Best sushi and service in barrie, been going to this location for over 6 years and its very consistent.
FISH FRAUD! I dont normally write reviews and I respect food service workers enough to not normally speak poorly of them, but this place crossed the line for me. Pathetic service and worse food. Ordered in Japanese until I realized all staff and ownership is Chinese. As mentioned in other reviews here, the servers are almost comically rude and try to never stop at your table even when asking/signalling to them. When they do finally arrive or bring food, it is tossed down hastily and food/drink spilled onto our table multiple times. About 60% of our orders we did not receive, and after a 3 hour dinner, (over 2 hrs of which just waiting) we all left still feeling hungry but just gave up on receiving the nigiri and other dishes that we submitted requests for multiple times. All you can order, NOT all you can eat. Our original bill was also much higher as they tried to charge us for the four beers we ordered rather than the single one we received. What really bugs me the most about my experience here however, was the food. If you like real sushi and appreciate good fresh fish, or want to provide others with a good first experience, DO NOT COME HERE! Instead, go somewhere Japanese-owned and operated. The that they serve here is not actually Albacore/White Tuna, but rather Snake Mackerel or Escolar which is a disgusting illegal banned fish in Japan due to its extremely high toxicity. Beyond this, the wasabi they use is not wasabi but rather poor-tasting dyed horseradish as it is cheaper. The pickled ginger they use is the cheapest driest type of red dyed ginger. Cheap shouyu and no ponzu or matcha. And their Tai, Hamachi, Maguro and BC tuna are simply NOT! These are all cheap poor quality fish and cuts that Sakana House is hocking off as something they are not. One only needs to look at the colour of their tuna here to understand that this place is doing a disservice to sushi and to the customers who plan to eat here. I encourage anyone who cares about their stomachs and/or wallets to go somewhere else. No idea how this place has as high reviews as it does... But please ignore them, I wish somebody told me to. I also genuinely encourage Sakana House to stop operations until they figure out how to run a sushi restaurant. If this doesnt happen, I would encourage a health inspector to look just a little more deeply into the fish they are serving. Do a bit of research on Snake Mackerel then bite into your nice White Tuna and try to tell me this is acceptable here.
My friend and I were looking for someplace to eat before she had to work. I have been here plenty of times before and have never had issues so I suggested we went here. We arrived and were sat at a table with a direct view into the kitchen. As we ate, I witnessed a cook who was straining some sort of noodle, I watched him drop it on the floor then proceed to pick it up and put it back into the strainer. This was very unappetizing to see especially as we were almost done our meals. The staff is rude, they are always hovering around the tables asking if people are done ordering yet. It is not a true all you can eat place. If they are not ushering you out the door, they are forgetting your items and ignoring you. This is the first time I ve had a negative experience here, and I will not be returning.
Best sushi in Barrie!
Excellent! This restaurant is officially in my top 3 for sushi. The quality and freshness of product cant be beat. Service is excellent as well. A little on the more expensive side but is completely worth it. Highly recommend. Vegetarian options: They have a whole vegetarian page of food for there AYCE service. Dietary restrictions: They ask for allergies and dietary restrictions before you enjoy. Parking: Almost always 10-12 available spaces in the plaza parking lot. Kid-friendliness: Very polite and engaging environment. Wheelchair accessibility: Ground level with ramp
They try to charge you for every little piece of food. The manager made it quite awkward for our poor server, forcing her to deliver the news and ask for us to pay for some plain rice that was left over. They use too much rice to make you full and ask for money when you are unhappy with the quality of sushi ??? At least management could have the courage to personally tell customer s about this. Will NEVER be returning or recommending a place built around profit and taking advantage of customers.
Always a great experience at Sakana House. Love to do AYCE , but we often do take out as well. Last time we went in with my 23 month old and they were very accommodating.
Everything is great.
I did not enjoy my meal at all. Not a lot of flavour and one dish I ordered again because it was the best of all of them. The second time it came it tasted like burnt plastic
The best sushi in town hands down! We always order the dragon roll combo to go & it never disappoints.
First time eating there and would go back. Service was excellent and friendly.
Best sushi all of Barrie massive menu great atmosphere love this place !!!
Decent sushi place! I enjoyed their variety. Close to both Innisfil and Barrie! Good for takeout and not very pricey. The interior can fit a good number of piece and the staff is friendly. Might be one of the only few sushi places to still offer All you can eat.
Good service, good all you can eat lunch for a reasonable price.
Sakana house has the freshest and best sushi in Barrie between both of their locations
food was served quick. servers were attending tables regularly. we had ordered too much since kids gave up too quick but the restaurant made us a great deal to make the left over take out.
Great food and great vegetarian options!
Pretty good for Barrie. Speedy service.
Thought Id try them out because of the reviews. Not the greatest sushi Ive ever had. It had a strange taste.. maybe it wasnt fresh? I dont think I would come here again, and Ill probably try out other places next time I want sushi. Edit - I ve eaten here several times since this review, and they ve been great. It must have been a one off. Changing it to 5 stars!
Food was meh service was absolutely stellar, but at the end of the meal was advised of overage charges for food uneaten. They did dismiss it but was a bad ending to our evening.
My sons fav sushi place, always asking for it. Busy place yet they always are able to provide great service and the price is reasonable!
The food was not fresh at all. Service was rude. Make sure you open up all your take out bags because there always missing something. Do not recommend there is a lot better out there for cheaper price.
Very delicious sushi.. maybe even the beat in Barrie. Restaurant is very clean and service is very fast.
Good place for getting your sushi craving satisfied. Fresh and tasteful with good range of varieties. Recommend it.
Very good service & prices. Parking: Great Food : 5/5 |
All you can eat has delicious options. Service was fast and friendly. The restaurant is bright and clean.
Easily one of the best all you can eat sushi places in Barrie-Innisifl. Good service, good food
$100, took 1 hour and 15 minutes on a Monday and arrived cold. Not happy
Just moved up here, already been twice. Amazing food ! Everything is tasty and fresh. Put this AYCE place with any in Toronto. Great service as well
Great place to go for all you can eat sushi!
The dishes were puddling when it was on the table at the start (not clean). The food was hurting our stomach and we expressed this to the waiters and they decided to still charge us per piece. We were still hungry when we left and didn t finish the food. I m holding in the pain as I m writing this review right now. Not recommended if unless you re looking for unsanitary food . All my reviews are usually good but this was terrible!
Small and dirty, the washrooms were gross, the service was terrible and the food was meh. They know their service is awful because the gratuity was forced onto us. I would honestly never recommend this place, youve been warned.
Hadnt had sushi in forever and was not disappointed!!!
Bad customer service, don t go here, staff messed up my bill and didn t want to fix their mistake
Sam, king of all things sushi!
Waited 20 minutes to get our food while everyone else got there s and the lady that was getting our bill took forever
Without a doubt, the best sushi restaurant in Barrie. Their menu is extensive, offering a large variety for even non-sushi fans. The food is always incredibly fresh and delicious. We have ordered from Sakana House for years and it is 100% consistently delicious!! Always busy, definitely reservations recommended. Their takeout is just as great and always ready at the time indicated! I have recommended this place to many friends and neighbours and they have all shared how much they love this place as well!
Favourite sushi resto in Barrie. Much more worth it when you dine in but will still opt for Sakana when I only have time for take out. Food is always fresh and rolls never too ricey . Service is quick and friendly.
Delicious food and fast service. The restaurant was clean and the staff was very friendly. It can get very busy so I would recommend reservations. Also reasonably priced. Cant wait to go back!
We have done a few all you can eat places in the past. But Sakana house was by the far the best weve ever had thus far! The service was exceptional!! The wait staff were so polite, efficient and just wonderful all around. Our food came out in a timely manner, everything served was hot and fresh and the rolls were tightly wrapped and delicious! Great variety of foods to select from and everything done proper. We dont frequent Barrie often but when we will do, we will be sure to head there again! Thanks so much The all you can eat dinner option is pricey but pretty much the same everywhere you go, but they dont disappoint! Worth every penny.
Small sashimi portion pieces Way too much rice in the rolls Always giving only one napkin per person... Rude servers Food : 3/5 |
Thank you very much for your amazing work with delicious food and best customer service. My favorite Sushi Restaurant in the town. Hope your business always grow and strong recommended Food
Best sushi in Barrie by far I have been coming here for years and it is the best you can get. It can be a bit expensive, but it is very worth it. Don t waste your time anywhere else
Terrible service today and was being watched like a hawk
Delicious meal!I am absolutely stuffed!
Very positive experience, thank you
the thickest most chewy Nori used for rolls...subpar fatty cuts of meat. Servers rush you out as fast as possible . This is acceptable for Barrie but not for anyplace with any culture or ethnic diversity. best part was the fried banana (showed 3 pieces per order and we got 1 Tiny one) My spouse almost got sick from the grisly fatty offal located in one chicken roll. they wanted to charge us extra for it because she physically couldnt eat it without being sick. Awesome :)
Got some sushi from here the other night, normally we have a spot we stick to but my mom and I wanted to try somewhere different.. we got the crispy spicy crab rolls, which weren t crispy or spicy at all, but the major issue was that they tasted like chemicals or something. Neither of us could eat our food, I tried so hard cause I didn t want to waste my money, but ended up being able to stomach 2 rolls before I called it quits. I ve never had sushi this bad, ever.. and I ve heard good things about sakana, but I would never order from here again. The service was also not great. My mom called to voice her complaint about the taste and they basically told us that sucks. So I will not be recommending this place to anyone, nor will we be coming back.
Friendly staff and good food
I generally visit the location on Cundles, but I was in the area & figured I would give this location a try Firstly, the customer service was horrible. We encountered very rude staff who had no knowledge on what their menu entailed. Secondly, they kept bringing items to our table that we did not order, & whenever we would make staff aware of it, they would insist we ordered, although the order on the iPad confirmed we did not order those certain items. Lastly, we wanted to pay our bills separately as we were two friends attending lunch & the staff gave us an extremely hard time about paying separately. I would NOT recommend this location. You re better off driving the extra KM s to visit the location on Cundles.
Food quality is not as good as the review, chicken and beef were overcooked and cant eat. We went there at 2:30pm and the waitress said we can order lunch or dinner menu. After compare the food and price we decided to go for lunch. After using the ipad ordering for the first time then the waitress said last order in 5 mins. We felt kind of shock as they should tell us in advanced. Then we used our last 5 mins to order some more food. When we asked for the bill the waitress said that we cant finish the food they need to charge us $15 more and gave us 2 take out boxes. I explained the situation that we dont know we only have 5 mins to order food so we didnt take a detailed look of the description on the ipad. I offered to pay half of $15 but they dont accept. It was such a bad experience with this ACYE resturant and definitely wont go there again
Large selection of sushi etc. Definitely recommend for any occasions
We had a delicious meal, and our server Danny was so friendly and helpful!
The food was amazing, as usual. The service was quick and friendly. It was busy, but there was no waiting list.
Had a great family birthday lunch! There enought choices for the kids.
It breaks my heart to write this review. I have been holding off writing this, hoping that things would improve so I would have more positive things to say. My family has been coming to this location of Sakana House for over 5 years. We have always loved it, but have noticed that over the course of the last year and a half or so, we have NOT had the same experiences as we have in the past. I will say that the quality of the food has been good for the most part. We are usually satisfied with the actual food. That said, there have been times when weve gone to the AYCE and the portions are super small, or haphazardly put together (i.e. messy handrolls, maki that fall apart, brown avocado, etc.). My main issue is the service, and the state of the place. There used to be very friendly staff who worked there. Now, the staff seems miserable, rude, and not attentive. Every time we go there, we are rushed to order and eat as fast as possible. The food either comes flying out all at once, or takes forever to show up. Yet no matter what pace the food comes at, you are made to feel like you must get out as fast as possible. Feeling rushed to eat is a terrible feeling, especially when you are paying quite a hefty price for the meal. I understand that times have been rough, and prices have gone up everywhere. However, paying $27 per person for lunch on a weekday, and $35 for dinner...at these prices Id rather go somewhere comparable and get better service. Coming for lunch with 45 minutes left in the lunch time frame, but being told that we must order off the dinner menu is ridiculous. The floor is disguising, as are the washrooms, and very often the glassware is dirty. The corners floor in the restaurant looks as if it has not been washed in weeks. Since we have young kids, we like to come for lunch closer to the opening time. At this time, it seems that the staff is always running around doing opening type tasks such as washing windows, sweeping, pouring soy sauce in take away containers, and setting out cutlery. All things that should be done before a restaurant is actually open for business, or should be done somewhere not in the middle of a dining room. These are not tasks that customers should be seeing (unless theres an emergency). Sakana House has the potential to be amazing. They need to stop acting like they are a cheap, fast food place, and start treating their customers like they value them. The food can be amazing, but when your servers are grumpy and the place is not immaculately clean...you will lose customers. Whoever runs the place needs a reality check. Parking: Parking lot is tight, too small. Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly, however nothing extra offered to kids (i.e. crayons, colouring page). Kids are questioned about their age, and servers try to upsell non-alcoholic drinks (i.e. Shirley Temple) by offering it to the child instead of asking parents if theyre interested. High chairs not that clean.
Love this place, one of the best sushi places Ive been to for sure!
Good food and staff very helpful a d kind
Great owner and staff...food is 5 star
We went there to eat Sushi. I always wanted to try it. We tried good appetisers and then sushi. All the employees were really friendly. I didn t get all the names but Vee was serving us. She was really friendly. All of them are really friendly. I must give them a visit again. :)
This is my first time at this location, and they are sooo on top of things! The dishes have been cleared so quickly. It s worth every penny of the all you can eat Friday dinner price. Also, the mango roll is LIFE!!!!!! Vegetarian options: I had the deep fried sweet potato avocado roll and several mango rolls. Both were delicious. But the mango roll is next level delicious!!
From the moment we got here we felt so cared for. They welcomed us then asked if we had any food allergies. Every staff member made great eye contact, they were attentive. Our plates left the table as soon as they were empty and no one ever hovered. They are beyond efficient and its like witchcraft!!! I forgot to mention that the food is delicious!!! Vegetarian options: Theyre all fantastic!
Was a regular until the end of September. Took me almost 3 months to take down my old review to post this new review. The last time I had food there was take out and found a live warm in my food. Called and was asking for the owner Sam. The worker was refusing to let us talk to him (he was in she just didn t want to pass it to him just asking what s wrong). When we told her we found a live warm and need to talk to him. She still refused. From that time I refuse to return there. The new workers aren t good at all anymore.
Good food and service. Clean facility. Rolls were loose and fell apart. To heavy on the sauce. The menu was smaller than most of the other places I have been to. It was good.
