Best Mexican food in Barrie by far

I ve been here many times and loved the food but today I was quite disappointed. Visited for lunch and ordered pastor tacos. They were luke-warm, bland, dry and the tortillas seemed old. Did not live up to the experience I ve had in the past, or even at their downtown location which has always been 10/10.

An amazing place full of flavors and colors. Customer service is the best, dont lose the chance to try their plates, great taste and affordable prices.

Very Poor and Slow service The girl at the reception has Zero interest in communication with customers and just doing her work. Asked me to wait for 10 minutes but took more then 20 minute ending up having no help from her. Management need to work on this.

Got food poisoning after eating here yesterday; ordered barrio tacos and pulled something strange out of the meat when finishing my meal. Was violently ill all night long. Do not recommend.

Really great mexican food!

What a joy to discover this restaurant/grocery market in Barrie after a meeting nearby. The vegetarian burrito was superb, as were the side order fries, and we appreciated the servers patience with my mangled attempts at Spanish. Service was efficient and friendly. We were happy to stock up on sauces and other food items on the way out. Would highly recommend this place to anyone in the area looking for authentic and flavourful food.

Absolutely delicious Mexican food. This place is a small grocery store with some booths as well to sit down and eat. We got the chorizo and grilled steak tacos along with their amigos nachos. Everything was so good, and the red home made salsa was amazing. We even bought a tub to take home. We ended up picking up some sweet bread as well. Definite must try if you re in the Barrie area!

I had the chicken enchiladas and they were very tasty and authentically Mexican.And the portion size is huge..had to take 1/2 home. Will definitely be back to try another dish. Food

Very flavourful! I had the chicken quesadilla and it was tons of food for a really good price and it tasted amazing.

The food very low quality, I order a quesadilla, it was simple as hell, it did not have any flavor and it was with French fries? Jajja my wife order three tacos carnitas with no flavor

The prices are amazingly fair, and you never leave hungry.

IMHO the best burritos in Barrie! And the Aztec soup is delicious.

We love hole-in-the-wall and unexpected finds, and this amazing Mexican store and restaurant didn t disappoint. We had shrimp tacos, carnitas tacos and steak quesadilla. Amazing! Can t wait to come back and try more.

I had everything I needed except banana leaves.

My girlfriend and I came by for lunch last weekend. The food was amazing, portions were large but there was no way we were leaving anything unfinished. Everything exploded with flavour and the staff are very friendly. Prices are great for what you are getting. Coming here felt like having a generous home cooked meal.

Tried this place after being recommended it and Im glad I did. We got our food to go so didnt have any insight on the atmosphere but the decor was cool. We both got the steak and chorizo burrito and it was honestly delicious. You can really taste each content and they fry the outside making it crispy which it came with a small handful of crispy fries and two sauces (I think salsas). My only complaint was there was ALOT of excess juice which caused my wrap to leak and tore my burrito. Nothing I couldnt pick up after with a fork.

I love their menudo! I can t wait to go back and try other soups from them. We ordered fish tacos, menudo, and chimichanga. Chimichanga and menudo were amazing. The fish tacos were great and the fish was fresh. However, it was wrapped in a flour tortilla instead of a corn tortilla, but my soup came with some corn tortillas so I switched the flour to corn and it was much better.

The food is awesome! My wife had the chicken Quesadilla and I had a deep fried Steak and choriso Chimichanga ..portions were huge.The service was also great.! Thank you Allan for being such a great waiter and taking the time to explain the various dishes. We will definitely go back.....oh ya...you have to try the Churros!

Ordered delivery for the family tonight as a treat. Unfortunately our treat leaves us with a horrible taste in our mouth If it was possible to leave a zero or negative star rating I would! Based on food alone not to mention taking over 1.5hours to arrive, missing items and my dinner of Chicken Enmoladas (photo below) was completely inedible! With cold, over cooked rubbery chicken with so much sauce it looked like dog food. Absolutely the worse food I ve seen in a very long time and frankly I couldn t stomach more than a few small bites before tossing this into the trash! As my dogs deserve better food than this What a shame, considering we ve eaten here previously and enjoyed the food without any issues. Based on tonight s experience, the appearance, seriously overcooked (possibly microwaved) chicken, plus the missing items which is absolutely unacceptable! We can t recommend ordering take-out or delivery service from here . Nor will we make this mistake again!

It was ammmazing

The chimichanga here is worth the trip every time. Crispy on the outside and succulent and juicy on the inside. We always stop by this place over the winter to fuel up before heading to the slopes and it definitely hits the spot!

More of a commissary style place. Mexican products amd lot of in house made products. Sit down area to eat. Food is great and their homemade sauces (green and red) are well made and fresh. They make a lot of things in house from scratch. Their chip dip had a nice Chipotle smoke flavour and was gone quickly. So I had to buy a container for home

Excellent, authentic Mexican food! Loved the complimentary tortilla chips and salsa. Everyone in our group was very pleased with their orders. The portions are generous. The baked and fried desserts and treats are really great. I especially like the churros donut with dolce deleche inside. Vegetarian options: There are lots of vegetarian options here...anything made with beans and cheese. Nachos, burritos etc. They are fairly accommodating, so you can make a request.

The tacos were SO GOOD! Also, the Colombian churro donut is ridiculous!! The staff were very helpful with helping me decide what to order. Can t wait to go again!

An unexpected delight for Mexican cuisine! Ordered the chicken chimichanga and the enchiladas which was delicious however, the enchilada has too much lime in the sauce which was overpowering. The sauce itself is a lot, seemed more like a soup at first. The chimichanga was a little dry, I was actually expecting more cheese and sauce but overall, I would recommend this on the menu. The atmosphere was an odd combination of a dine in restaurant in the middle of a variety store which gives you the chance to view items for later. Nevertheless, if you are craving Mexican, try it out.

Ordered on Uber eats. The food was fresh and hot when it arrived. The Aztec soup was delicious, I was sick and it was exactly what I needed. Appreciated the toppings on the side. Ordered desserts, empanadas and my partner had the chimichanga. Everything was amazing. I would 100% come in person to try this again! One star removed because they forgot the tortilla chips in my order. It happens. Otherwise everything was great!

I was in there Saturday picking up take out and they were filled to capacity with a huge line at the door, it was easy to tell the staff were very busy. After I paid for my takeout the server went out of her way to get my daughter a churro from their display case. It was so sweet how she went above and beyond when she clearly had other things to do and other tables to serve. Thank you Mexican House. The food is always amazing every time we visit. Delicious! Really tasty food! The tacos were decent, the empanadas were very hot and freshly cooked! All flavours taste great so I recommend to try them all before making up your mind. Tacos were decent size for the pricey and the various meats were full of flavour. Decent chips, salsa and extras!

We went to the downtown Barrie location by the water on Maple Avenue and it was the best Mexican food that we have eaten in Canada!! The staff were so nice and friendly and very attentive, especially Isaac was so nice and friendly! We will definitely keep coming back!

This place is a hidden GEM I absolutely loved everything we tried... From the BURRITOS to the QUESADILLAS, and not to mention the CHIMICHANGAS with the red and green salsa were DELICIOUS! Everything was FLG... FINGER LICKING GOOD I would highly recommend

Been here 3 or 4 times and every time has been amazing, the Pork Carnitas tacos are incredible. The chips and salsa you get while waiting are so good, I could just have them as a meal. The service is great and quick, good prices too. My favorite place to get tacos around hands down.

Unfortunately, we dont live in the area anymore. But when in Barrie, Mexican House is our go-to. Their Tacos al Pastor is still the best tacos north of the Mexican border with flavours right out of Puebla. Simply the best.

This was TRUELY some of the most authentic Mexican food I have had outside of the country ! The wait staff was warm and outgoing and the prices were more then reasonable. We were so grateful to find this little gem in the south end of Barrie and we look forward to coming back soon!!

I had the chicken tacos and they were great. Didn t ask about specific precautions taken (still working on my assertiveness in that area), but I felt good afterwards with no symptoms.

Best Mexican food I ve had in Canada! I love Mexican food real Mexican food. All the chains fall victim to Canada s need to make bland things! No flavour no taste no authentic experience. But they have 12 sauces to give it flavour the same flavour you can buy at zehrs or Sobeys in a jar. Enter Mexican House. So good! So flavourful! So legit! So happy I discovered it! I live in Guelph but would drive to Barrie just to get a taste! The pastor tacos are excellent. Spiced heat with the sweetness of the pineapple just glorious! Their salsas are amazing and the chips homemade. If you love Mexican stop, drop and roll on over!

I cant pick which one is better because the food quality is top notch all around. The amount of food you get for the price is great! Highly recommend!

If you have a hankering for authentic Mexican food I highly recommend this establishment. Ive patronized this establishment twice; both occasions have been positive. I had the enchiladas and the GF had the pork tacos. Will definitely dine here again next time Im up this way.

Stopped for lunch. Small place with Latin American products as well as 5 tables that can sit 4 people each. As a free starter you get chips with homemade salsa, yummm ..Ordered enchiladas, omg the best I ve had .the owners are Mexican so the cuisine is authentic. The green sauce was soooo good!! Great service and reasonably priced. I m happy they also carry some Colombian products (arepas, yuca, pulpa de fruta, colcafe, ducales, colombiana). They also have churros con arequipe and they sell Colombian empanadas too!!! Great little place and definitely recommend!

Such good food. The strip mall location is convenient and makes for a real surprise when you get inside. Sit down and you are handed the extensive menu and salsa and chips. Ceviche tostada and fish tacos were so amazing. Coming back again soon!

Lovely Ceviche

God DAMN this place is They give you chips and salsa when you are seated and bring you two different bottles of spicy salsa for your food, which I absolutely love. I ordered an appetizer called the civiche tostada and some birria tacos while my girlfriend got the same appetizer with a lamb quesadilla. The civiche tostada made me fall in love with this place. (Pro tip, use the chips and salsa to pick up all the civiche that falls off from the tostada.) My birria tacos were good but I have tried birria tacos a few times from different places but i guess I never really liked them as much because i think I just dont like saltyness from the consume. So if you are down with salty food more than I am then, then you gotta try the birria tacos here, they are some of the best I had. Girlfriends Quesadilla was also delicious, and I preferred hers since it wasnt as salty. Next time, Im gonna try some Carne Asada tacos and hit it with that spicy salsa. Definitely check this place out!

Their Beef tongue tacos are so simple yet SO amazing! Tender and very well seasoned, fresh ingredients and friendly service. The chicken enchiladas verdes are also a great dish. Comes with crispy salad and fried beans. We had the Flautas last time which were good, maybe a little dry. Overall we love this place, along with the Orillia location.

I went in and the guy at the counter helped answer all my questions perfectly. I ended up getting a Spicy steak and chorizo burrito and a delicious caramel filled donut. I was so overly impressed with the quality of the food I had to go back in, And straight up tell the guy how delicious it was. Full of nothing but flavor. Best of all it wasnt extremely greasy or heavy, But it was very filling. And the salsa sauces I got with it was even better.

My first time here absolutely amazing this place should be bigger! We tried the basics first. Taco and quesadilla and soup. The beef birria is perfect definitely going to try the chimichanga next time! Oh and the homemade tortilla chips were so good we got more while we waited for our food. Sauces were deliciously made too looked homemade. Beautiful first experience.

Food was amazing good portions of protein and good price. Was vey satisfied. Will be back for sure.
