I have experienced several restaurants in Quebec, Ontario & Manitoba. This is the first restaurant in Canada who did not allow Personal Water bottle when I get in the restaurant with my Kid. Worst policy. I walked out without having food, so no comments on food.

I ordered food today and got two dishes: samosas and Amritsari kulcha. While the Amritsari kulcha was great, I received pakoras instead of the samosas I had ordered.

I got rajma chawal delivered, and there was a fly inside my food.

Food is good. The problem is they don t tell you how much time you have to ACTUALLY wait to get your food. They tell you initially that food will be ready in 30 mins but takes more than an hour. I placed an order for pickup, came during my break at work. Went there after 30 mins of placing the order and waited for another 30 mins there. Never going to come back here

I placed pick up order on October 25, asked to make it spicy. For all other places in order to make the sabji spicy they will add spices but here they add cut green chili on top of chana and in almost the same quantity of chana. When I reached to pick up the order it was not ready. I waited for 10 minutes but the wait time and my decision to order from this place was not worth it. Apart from this I went to dine in before the week gave order to the guy with spectacles (do not remember his name) he took order and I gave all the instructions but he was seem to not listening and at the end my order instructions were not followed and my dinner was ruined. P.S if they have any issue with the management they should solve rather than giving bad customer service to customers.

I absolutely love this place and order from them routinely. Eveything I ve ever tried is really good. I usually get the same thing which is a roti that I love. One comment I have is that sometimes the consistency in terms of sizing is different and there s been a couple occasions where I ve ordered and the ingredients seemed different (ie. usually the roti comes without peppers but a few times it was filled with peppers). I ll always recommend it.

Not the type of food I wanna spend my hard earned money on. Bhature were oily and crunchy, rajma were undercooked and the base curry for rajma was just full of random spices with no flavor. Rice were bland with no aroma. Samosa was good.

This is my second time going to Amaya real Indian food, and I have loved it both times. Karm was our server, she made us feel welcome and brought us our food nice and hot. Her service was excellent. I would advise anyone who lives in Barrie or is passing through to stop for dinner at Amaya.

Very good. I would eat here again. I ordered the chicken korma. It came with rice. I also ordered a cheese naan. Everything was good. The cheese naan was maybe the best I have ever had. The chicken korma curry was delicious. It had a bit of a sweet aftertaste, which was good. It could have been just a little bit spicier, but I didn t ask for anything special as far as increasing or decreasing spice level. The rice was good, but there wasn t quite enough to enjoy all the curry . It would be better if there was a little bit more rice. Thank you for the delicious food. I ll be back.

Nice spot for Indian cuisine. Huge menu with lots of dishes I had never even heard of before. Nice decor inside with a huge Indian themed mural one one side (adding another to the other side of the restaurant would go a long way). Food was good but the non spicy dishes were on the sweeter side (I had chicken korma and it was too sweet for me to finish - and thats coming from a French maple-syrup loving Canadian). Id definitely go back again and would love to try some new dishes but would be mindful to ask which ones had the lowest sugar content. Together our group had 2 appetizers, 2 drinks, 5 curries (which all came with basmati rice), and a few naans for a total of $140.

Very good vegetarian food. Asked them to make tandoori roti crispy, but forgot to make it and argued its the best they can do and then when we repeated the roti, they made it good crispy. I think they forgot to make the rotis crispy previously but did not accept that, and argued. Excellent ambience.

Food 100% Service 0% I know it happens sometimes but it happened again and again..first no one came to clean the table, I waited for 5-7 mins for that and than no one gave us the menu but the table after us got the menu and than no one is coming to take the order even after I pressured the sensor button twice or thrice at the end I wanted take out box for that I pressured the button more than 3 times but it took so long for them to come. Sorry I don t usually post anything bad but I really felt bad today because the restaurant was not so busy.

I usually don t rate businesses badly but this restaurant does deserve a bad one. Me and my friends dined here for lunch on our way back to Toronto from Wasaga in June this year. Chose this restaurant since it was highly rated in google. The chicken starters we ordered did not taste authentic or even for that matter it did not taste fresh. The lasuni cauliflower tasted very badly with heavy layers of cornflower covering little pieces of cauliflower. The replacement dish we got was even worse. The waitress was a bit rude and was reluctant in listening to our complaints on food. There was another waitress who seemed to be a bit more senior was apologetic about the bad quality of food and suggested us to try couple of food from their menu. The quality of subsequent foods we got later went only downhill from there. The curries weren t cooked very well and tasted raw. We were not in any mood for argument with them again. We did not complete the food, paid our bills and headed back home wondering how such a highly rated restaurant can dish out such bad food.

*I m changing my review based on my last visit, the staff hover over you making sure you scan their QR code to give them a 5 star google review after you re done eating. It s super weird and uncomfortable and they have plenty to work on. ______________________________________ Since living in Barrie I ve tried various Indian restaurants and some have been good but since Covid, I ve been hard pressed to find an Indian restaurant that s worth another visit. Tara downtown used to be quite good but I ve had it a few times in recent years and it really isn t like it was. I used to also enjoy Tandoori Tonight but with the economy, the ingredient quality shifted and I stopped going. A friend suggested AMAYA Real Indian Food and I assumed it was another new lackluster try at Indian, but I soon discovered that it had opened June 2007, and showcased modern Indian cuisine that didn t sacrifice authenticity. I honestly had no idea where it was since it s not easy to spot from main roads. When we got to the restaurant, we immediately noticed how busy it was and the people dining there were mostly Indian. The menu had all your classic dishes and many others I d like to try one day. We ordered onion bhaji which were the best I ve ever had, garlic and cilantro nan, butter chicken and lamb roganjosh. Everything was cooked perfectly and flavourful. The curries where the right consistency and you could taste the quality of the ingredients. The classically spicy dishes tipped towards the spicier side but I loved every bite of it. There s not much else for me to say about it, I m just pumped to eventually try more things. The Papdi Chaat was a delightful appetizer, fresh and tangy with just the right balance of spices. For dessert, we had the Gulab Jamun, which was heavenly! Love Amaya! Chicken vindaloo is so spicy and yummy! I am so glad Amaya is in Barrie. The food is exceptional. My brother drives 1 1/2 hours from Oshawa to go there. We placed on order on their website. We received a message that the order was not confirmed by the restaurant. We tried inputting the order again and received the same message. We then contacted the restaurant directly and was advised that the ordering was turned off and to wait 5 minutes and try ordering again. I inquired at that time about the 2 previous attempts and what would happen with the CC charge, I was advised that I would receive a refund if the charge was sent through. We made the order again and it was successful. I waited a few days and upon checking my CC it was noted that I was charged for the 2 transactions not accepted by the restaurant and did not receive a refund. So I was charged 3 times for the one order. I contacted the restaurant and was told not their issue and I was to contact my CC company. NOT ACCEPTABLE. I contacted my CC and was told to contact the restaurant. So extremely frustrating. Still not resolved. Be careful when ordering on line from this restaurant!!!

The food was quite good. We ordered starters, veg entrees, breads, and veg biryani. They need to have the option to go easy on the spices in veg biryani if requested. Also veg manchurian balls could have been more in quantity.

So many insects, unhygienic environment. No good service even they didnt collect main course utensils and they didnt come when we call for order.
