Absolutely love there terriki mushrooms .. and there other dishes are amazing to. Best Chinese food in town. Long time customer .

Placed an order last week. For fried rice and spring rolls. The food was very bad quality and wasn t worth the money. As others have stated it made me very sick. The owner told us when we bought our food that she will give us a can of pop and spring rolls if we place rate their restaurant 5 stars on google. Some members of my family did the same and hours later ended up with food poisoning.

Rude, abrasive woman takes my order. I am never going back here again.

My first time trying chen s and I was pleasantly surprised. I haven t been able to find a good Chinese place in Barrie but Chens is amazing. I had the dinner combo and for around $11 there was some real weight to the portion size. I was very pleased that they use the big chicken balls (not the tiny little gross ones) & the rice was good and not dry like most places. I also tried the szecheun chicken which had a really nice flavour, chicken was moist and the spice to it was excellent. I will for sure go back and recommend to others.

Ordered the dinner special for $9.95 paid the delivery fee of six dollars and I tip the driver five dollars . I had chicken, fried rice, sweet-and-sour, chicken balls, and an egg roll. The fried rice I received was the darkest colour of rice and chunks of chicken thrown in with no taste at all, I did not receive an eggroll, but one spring roll which I did not eat. The chicken ball coating was so hard the fork would not go into it. I was not impressed with the meal at all.

First-time customer tried diner special General Tsos Chicken. Great and generous portion size, the takeout box was heavy. Didnt like food too much, but they really tried,with great customer service and generous portion.

The absolute best General Tsao chicken. Ever! The front of house staff was friendly and welcoming.

Very good food made with fresh ingredients. Their combination platters only come with 1 item and rice, which is hardly a combination, Id say.

Called in to order the lunch special, one for myself and one for my wife she wanted the sweet-and-sour chicken balls with NO sweet and sour sauce (Wife is a diabetic) order put in with David, got home and the sauce was all over her dinner! Called and they expected me to come back (in Holly area) she ate what she could and of that it was fantastic food, just wish David would listen and do as the customer asked! , we will try again as long as its not David taking our order Update , was back the other day, and it was what we wanted and tasted great

Got the Chicken chop Suey lunch special. Fresh and amazing taste for a very reasonable price. The staff are helpful & friendly. I will try Cantonese Chow Mein next. Parking: Lots of parking spots.

I always bought Chef Chan best chines ive had i now live 2 hr drive away but when ever i go to town i get my order. They have real good lots of chicken chicken balls. I tried some 2 times in lindsay from supposed to be best place. Hit and miss I so am craving chef chan cant wait to go to town see you soon. Well i have gone and done it now Now i live way way up north Will have to go visit family and get some Chef Chan and get extra and put into my cooler to bring home. If i dont eat it before it gets here

Chef Chan used to be good serving all fresh made but now are using disgusting frozen product and overcharging for it. They are no longer willing to serve the food they used to. Their bottom line is more important than satisfying customers.

The lack of flavour perhaps serves the geography and demographics but its a shame locals taste could not have been educated/elevated.

Worst dinner ever. Dry chicken, rice under cooked, We will not be ordering again. What happened to this place?

Normally the food taste so yummy but this time it tasted over cooked, greasy and rushed.

Please explain what lemon chicken is? Is it lemon sauce and deep fried massive pieces of chicken. NO ITS FRESH CHICKEN IN A LEMON SAUCE TOGETHER. WHAT THE HELL IS THAT. YOU SELL. DONT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE

We just devoured a Chef Chan Chinese food feast for thanksgiving dinner. What a treat it was. Everyone in the family loved it. I always try to get to Chef Chan when I m visiting Barrie. It s the best!!

Very disappointing food quality as I had heard good things about Chef Chan from colleagues. I ordered a Cantonese Chow Mein and the noodles were just boiled egg noodles. Where s the fried crispy noodles? Getting the crispy noodles right is the hardest part of making Cantonese Chow Mein and Chef Chan didn t even try! The flavour was also off as the sauce does not taste like that for Cantonese Chow Mein. The chicken fried rice and sesame chicken were decent. But making decent fried rice is the least you can expect from a Chinese food place.

The only Chinese food i will buy..and i live south of Orillia..so its a 35 minute drive for me to pick up. My parents lived in Stroud for over 20 years and once a month we would do this as dinner..never disappointed-great taste and the quantities were unreal..a dinner for 4 could easily feed 6 or 7 people.. I know its under new owners in the last cple of years..but ive still found the taste,quantity and quality to be on par with the previous owners.. The dinner for four #B is the best deal..the shrimp and chicken balls arent soaked in greasy batter where you only get batter..the beef and chickn dishes are loaded with both and fresh veggies.. I love the fact that i can freezer bag what i dont use and reheat later and its just as good.. My parents are no longer living there but i still drop by every 3-4 months and get my fix.. Keep up the good work..to me its worth the drive to get what ive always liked..and ill keep doing so

Hi, this is not what I remember. Its been a couple years and definitely this is not the original Chef Chan recipe. Very disappointed in quality of food, our leftovers definitely going into the green bin. Your spring rolls are not traditional! How can Chinese Chef Chan make them so unsavoury, so radically different than every other Chinese takeout in Barrie! Sorry you guys have got to do a better job than this! Maybe its better to put up with the hassle of Mandarin managements arrogance than to accept the mediocrity of Chef Chans take out Chinese food.

One of our favourite goto Chinese restaurants. The mushroom Egg Foo Yung is excellent and the Shanghai noodles are my favourite. My wife loves their egg rolls and the kids love the chicken chow mein. Id highly recommend.

Ordered trice first time not great but ok . The second time ordered three dishes and eggs rolls. Nothing was good. Wonder when things changed and you dont get plain rice with chicken balls or beef and broccil? Was a conviniant locals but will try a differnet place next time. Tried this place for the first time and i was absolutely disappointed. The rice was hard and everything looked very messy. The food was not tasteful and inside did not look clean.

Wow amazing food! Let s start with the pricing it s more then competitive compared to any Asia food in Barrie. The Quality and quantity of food was nothing I ve received in Barrie. We spent $70 and it s going to last us two diners. The delivery was quick and friendly only productive criticism is we didn t receive a menu with our food we will be order again!

We knew Chef Chan, like many take out services, would be busy on New Years Eve. We phoned Chef Chan the evening before New Years Eve Day to place our order. We had a significant order of food amounting to over $100.00 of our family New Years Eve Dinner. Chef Chan was extremely busy, being as well known and loved in Barrie as they are, so we were not surprised that on such a busy day they were already booked with pre-orders from 4 PM to 7 PM. Nonetheless, we placed our order for as close to 7 as possible. They originally felt it would be 7:15 PM but promised a 7 PM pick up time. We drove to Chef Chan for 6:50 PM, went in and paid for the food, which is not required ahead of time, but we felt would speed things up. They staff were VERY calm and VERY polite and professional. One on the workers told me they were now working on our order (6:55 PM). I had envisions of having to wait, maybe an additional 15 minutes, but at exactly 7:02 PM a lady came out to the lobby and handed me the bags of food. RIGHT ON TIME!! Once we drove home and opened the containers we were surprised at the quantity of food. And when we started eating, we ALL agreed, this was the freshest, tastiest Chinese food weve had from any Chinese Restaurant in Barrie. Even the broccoli in a couple vegetable dishes was perfectly cooked and really fresh looking and tasting. Chef Chan has been a long time favourite of local Barrie businesses and we have no hesitation at all recommending them. Weve tried many but all long as Chef Chan remain as consistent as they are known to be, they will be our Chinese Restaurant of choice. Well done!

Amazing general Man

Chef Chan is hands down the best Chinese food! There vegetable fried rice is amazing but it needs more celery and mushrooms.

Picked up food it was ok. However when I asked for hotsauce packets they gave me 5-6 I asked for more because everyone uses the hotsauce they said it would be an extra charge... Spent $70+ on food and they hassled me over wanting another few packets of hotsauce...

I asked for lots of soya sauce with my order. we ordered for 3 people and the lady there gave me exactly what i requested and didnt charge extra for taking extra sauce. Best in barrie and area. Only thing I dislike is the size of the green peppers in the szechuan beef if they quarterd the pieces in the dish it would make it more edible. Great quality and quantity been going here for 10 or more years always delicious!

Chicken tasted horrible, too much breading and no seasoning

Something happened to the quality of the food. It used to be pretty good but my shrimp curry had giant chunks of lazily chopped vegetables (like 1/4 of a green pepper in size) and my girlfriends spring rolls were 80% celery. It made us wonder if the line chef was new or disgruntled

I have been eating there for over 20 years the food is usually excellent. I am not too sure the food is not good this time but I did not get what I ordered I ordered Szechuan beef I received Szechuan chicken not very happy I also ordered the beef teriyaki and I got beef and broccoli. I bought this on September 14th and I was pick up 39 Suling served me. That is the first time that this is ever happened very disappointed I know people make mistakes but I guess I should have looked at it before I left

Been enjoying this place for a long long time. Originals in this end of town. We do have a lot of choices but I find Chef Chan to be the best I like to take advantage of the family for 4 deal Monday/Thursday. Huge portion for a great price really helps me feed the family. Just passes for Chinese Mall Food. The house fry rice was OK though smoky, the shrimp and mixed veg was flavorless... Szechuan Chicken was the only thing with some flavor to it though it wasnt spicy in any way making it more chicken with mixed veg. At least there was bokchoy and snow peas???

It was a great experience starting from the beginning when a friendly and polite young lady took our order to the time it was delivered. We placed our order at 7:56 pm and the food arrived at 8:17 pm, steaming hot and delicious. Wow, what service. I highly recommend this restaurant. Debbie K

I got this for a family meal and my hole family just had a bit of the food from each thing and we soon found out it was making us very sick.I never tasted anything this bad in my life!!! Please DO NOT GO THERE!! My family was unfed and had a nauseous feeling. For you own good dont go there. Also it didnt even tast like real food. Only go there if you want a unfed belly and a nauseous felling dont go there for your own sake!! I hope this helped you.

Although service was great, the food wasnt. Not what we expected at all. The fried rice tasted like a heavy cigarrette smoker made it as it tasted like cigarette smoke. The sweet and sour ribs were full of cartiladge and hardly had any actual meat. Although the spring rolls - hardly had any cigarette smoke. My boyfriend and I are sick to our stomachs now from this poor quality of food. Wouldnt recommend this place, thats for sure.

chicken fried rice was burnt badly, spring rolls were very oily, egg rolls were not good at all and everything else had a bit of a bland taste to it (in a bad way). only good thing was the free delivery but I dont think we will ever order from them again.
