I ve been coming here for years. Everything is always constant. Kristen is the absolute best!! She should own the place if she doesn t already. So professional while still making you feel like part of her family.

My first time here. The food was excellent as was the service. I will be back for sure.

I went in for breakfast around 10 am - so a little after the rush ...and I felt like I got some left over bacon ... eggs were over cooked. Service was fast (too fast) and friendly. Why is it so difficult to bring bacon out that is hot and cooked - I get prepping ahead of time but I was so disappointed - each piece was different - one was over cooked and cold, one under cooked and cold...one meh. The eggs were over cooked considering I wanted over easy - with the yolks cooked. The potatoes were overly soaked in grease. Lesson learned ... go when its busy otherwise you get left overs served to you...disappointed in the meal.

Went for dinner and pretty sure its not the same owners from a few years back. The food was decent - Chicken Fingers and a Club Sandwich. But we were charged more for our items than what the menu showed. A single TEA was $3.49!! Thats insane. Both my mothers meal and mine was inflated by $2.00 ea more than what the menu price was. I have had cheaper meals at Red Lobster. Our total bill came to $50.00 .....for Chicken Fingers, a Club Sandwich and a Tea. What a complete rip off.

Unreal breakfast! We hadn t been to Cottage Canoe in a few years. Went there today, and we were both totally blown out of the water by the food!! We had omelettes & they were such high quality. The home fries are to die for! Special thanks to Kris for taking care of us We can t wait to go back.

While at Monte Carlo Inn, we Googled restaurants near me Wowee, did we make the right choice. The service is friendly and professional. I had the pork shnizell and finished my first bite by saying Wow Mrs had fish and chips and enjoyed that. Then we shared their signature dessert: Ice cream on a cookie served on a sizzling skillet topped with chocolate sauce. Another good choice. We could have chatted with the 2 servers the rest of the night. Well be back.

Had a late brunch on Saturday, here. Server (though all-around greeter/hostess/server/table busser/manager in terms of role!) Kris was working alone. She moved quickly from table to door to kitchen with a ready smile and efficiency that is rarely seen these days in any restaurant. While I did not post photos on this visit, I can recommend the Canadian breakfast and the Steak and Egg breakfast. The food was delicious, and served quickly. Conveniently located in a small plaza at the corner of Dunlop West & Ferndale, it s worth a try. Lots of menu options to try. Hours vary - so check online first.

Quality has gone down a lot, used to be much better years ago

Had Eggs Benedict and my husband had the kayak breakfast which included a Pancake. Eggs Benedict was very good one little point. I was not asked to what degree I would like my poached egg. Soft,. medium or hard. Not a deal breaker but my egg could have gone another 30-40 seconds to be a perfect poach. My husband was very pleased with his Pancake. Slightly crisped on the edge and golden brown. Waitresses were super friendly, and kept our coffee topped up at all times A great first experience. We will return Parking: Lots of room to park here.

Came here for breakfast on a work trip. Portions were big for the price point. Food was really tasty. Service was excellent; our server was very friendly and attentive. Atmosphere was cute, felt like we were at a cottage with all the wooden decor.

The name and the ambiance go together so well. The food quality and portions are more than sufficient.

This restaurant is now our go to for a meal in Barrie. The waitress we had was very efficient. She was the only one working and she ran the place like clock work. Very friendly and very organized. My husband had the steak on a bun and the steak was huge and done the way he asked. I had the Canoe club hoping the turkey would be real and it was as advertised. Roast turkey, lots of it, ham and real cheese. I had it with the side salad which was crisp and fresh. With tip the meal was just under $60.00 with a Diet Pepsi. Good value for the portions and the dinner hour.

Brutal.. meal , service, aweful . All three of us had the runs after eating. This place has really went downhill . I had a chicken wrap that was terrrible , there was suppposed to be bruschetta on it, it was raw garlic and red onions and a couple of pieces of tomato . My wife had a bruschetta grilled cheese that she said was just wierd tasting and the fries were cooked in aweful tasting grease . Daughter , nuggets and fries same issues with the taste. Went to tip and accidentally hit the wrong button and gave .05 cents. Waitress was such a snob about it I almost didnt leave her anything . This was a nice family restaurant . Now it was over 100 dollars for three people and that was the cheapest food they had. Stay away and find somewhere better.

Terrible service. food took over an hour to get here and was cold. and cut me off after 2 beers and im not even driving! did i mention there was a minimum 18% tip mandate? Guess this place was empty for a reason.

Came with a group of friends after a day of awesome and fun paintball over at delta and coming here almost ruined my mood entirely. we came in were seated and had to wait 15-20 minutes to order drinks. After that my friends already wanted to leave, but I told them to give it a chance and order meals. Our drinks came and had to wait an extra 10-15 minutes to order our food. I asked for a second beer and the server abruptly said this is going to have to be your last one . This was the first time I ve ever been cut off from alcohol in my life let alone on my second bloody beer!! Just that alone made me want to walk out. Horrible wait times, the service alone should make you want to look elsewhere. They seemed to treat the nice elderly people well though so I guess that s a plus. 1 star not returning ever again and will not be recommending this place to anyone out there. This is also the first time I ve ever been so displeased with a place that I actually took the time out of my busy schedule to write this review to warn you not to come here due to the service we received. Food wasn t terrible but had to wait 50 minutes from the time we ordered for it to get to the table.

We recently hosted our daughter s First Communion dinner at Cottage Canoe and we couldn t be more happy with the event from start to finish! The owner was easy to communicate with and happy to accommodate our requests in organizing the event. The service team on the day of were super kind and provided speedy service. We had lots of compliments from our guests on the food and atmosphere. I am so thankful to the whole crew for making our daughter s special day extra special!

Sadly we were there yesterday, had the chicken fajita and didn t make it home before the vomitting and diarrhea started. Still sick. The pasta was good and the salad was good. I recently had the pleasure of dining at cottage canoe where Yesha provided exceptional service. Her friendly demeanor and attentiveness made the experience truly enjoyable. Not only was the service top-notch, but the food was also outstanding. Each dish was flavorful and expertly prepared. I highly recommend, especially with Yeshas exceptional service.

We reserved the private dining room for a breakfast meeting for 21 people. Ritu and her staff provided us with a beautiful buffet breakfast which was ready exactly as we requested. The room is lovely and met our needs, perfectly. We plan to return for future meetings of this kind.

Went here with my girlfriend for dinner. We were the only ones in there (4:30 pm on a Sunday) service was prompt and the food came out quickly but take that with a grain of salt. Waitress was friendly and attentive, made sure our needs were taken care of. We ordered the deep fried pickles to start , they were piping hot , crispy and the oil was clean. She ordered the chicken Alfredo dish and I the Schnitzel Cubano. I had a few bites of hers and it was fantastic , rich , generous sauce , pasta was cooked nicely. My sandwich was just ok flavour wise , bread was nicely toasted and buttered and I think it s just personal preference but I would order something else when I come back. We split the deep fried cheese cake which came with generous amounts of whipped cream and home made strawberry jam. It was delicious but very hard and messy to eat. Overall I d rate it a 4.5 out of 5 , would recommend for an ok priced night out. A side note , I drank a Stella which was offered in Stella glass but they do not have it on tap so you re buying a bottle which doesn t quite make it to the fill line on the Stella glass. No issue with me but just thought I d mention it if people take their beer too seriously.

We were the only table on a Saturday night but stayed anyway. Several items on the menu were not available. No ice cream, so no milkshakes or sundaes for dessert. The website menu also differed from the menu they had at the restaurant. We wanted to try the curry but it wasnt on the restaurant menu (was on the website). No IPA beers. One of the three available draft beers were out. My son ordered a steak with mashed potatoes and he got a steak with fries and no veggie sides (steak entree was $30).

What an awesome experience ! My wife and I had been to Cottage canoe once before and were impressed but this last time was amazing. I had the Cajun Salmon that was charcoal grilled and my wife had the Liver and Onions. Both dishes were very tasty. We started with an app of Deep Fried Pickles. They were the best I have ever had. Nice and crispy. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Extremely disappointing. My husband, my son & I came here from Mississauga to meet my step son & his lovely wife for lunch. And If could give 0 stars I would. I had ordered the Fish & Chips (which they claim is Beer Battered, not!!) The fish was done in Pancake Battered, YUK! And I am sure that the fish was not completely cooked thru, because of the jellied texture of the Cod. And the fries could have been much better. My son had the Blueberry pancakes. He said that they were so so, and he said that the coffee was not very good at all. My husband did enjoy his breakfast, but will we come back, probably NOT!!

The coffee was terrible, the fish under cooked and a broken door handle for the mens bathroom sitting beside the bathroom sink and only tape to open the door.

Friendly staff but the food was cold and bland. We got the eggs Benedict and Florentine and there wasn t much flavour, very basic. We also waited a long time for a coffee refill. Good prices though.

Simple, elegant and very tasty food. I opted for the Tuscan chicken pasta which was excellent and my fiancee opted for the honey glazed salmon which was also very good(attaching picturesof both). Portion size is also great and each main includes a side. Service was also good and the staff did all the things exactly the way I wanted. Christine and Heidi both provided excellent service to both me and my colleague. Had a great time and yes really enjoyed the food.

Servers were friendly and attentive. My toast was not toasted enough but otherwise very tasty. Eggs and potatoes were cooked perfectly. Coffee includes refills. High chairs available. Would come again.

Nice little place for breakfast in small groups. Very small and a bit crowded. Good place to go if youre looking for a decent, quick meal and not expecting over the top service. Will definitely return for breakfast/brunch Kid-friendliness: Limited kids menu but they offered what most picky kids would like. Crayons for coloring the kids menu but no TV (which Im personally ok with). If your kids dont do well sitting still, Id advise bringing a tablet or phone for them to play on

I frequently visit for their breakfast special. You cant beat the price and the food is delicious. Sometimes they are a bit under staffed but the staff working handles it well.

I think its horrible this place has taken all the parking in the plaza, by putting up signs. I wonder if the owners of the plaza actually gave them permission? Now no one else can park there going to the other businesses in the plaza. I will never eat here again due to the fact these owners feel they can affect other businesses needs to service customers customers due to their greed. Be a better neighbor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We were a table of 5 and I am sure she was busy, but we kind of got forgotten. Only 1 cup of coffee managed to be filled..I love my coffee. Managers probably should make sure there is enough staff for a Friday morning. Parking: In a strip mall with a gas station and corner store so if not for the parking from the store beside the restaurant there would only be about 9 spots

Well it was so so loud in the restraunt!!! Was was average. Had a burger and my wife had a typical breakfast. A little over priced compared to other establishments of the same category. Was taking my last bite and the watress was trying to take my plate away. lol

I was very disappointed with my recent order here. I ordered eggs Benedict for take out with a side order of tomatoes, which in every restaurant on the planet, eggs benedict comes with homes fries.....I was charged 25 frigen dollars for two pieces of English muffin, 2 pieces of peamale and 2 eggs and a few tomatoes......thats if no homesfries...no nothing that would even come close to constitute charging 25.00 foe and I even picked it up. Also their hollandaise sauce is sub par and lacking flavoring.....Ridiculous. 1/10 do not recommend

This place is a hidden gem. The environment, food and staff are so kind and wonderful. My favourite menu options at the moment are the cottage burger, pork schnitzel with vegetables - both high quality, satisfying and reasonably priced meals. Can t wait to try the rest of the menu.!

Very Dissatisfied, potatoes were half raw and portions were so tiny. Paid $32 for two people and we left hungry. No options for the toast such as peanut butter or other jams. The strawberry jam we did receive was enough to cover one slice of toast, other slice was bare so I left it behind. Wife didnt eat any of her potatoes as again they were raw inside. Wont be going back ever, STEELERS in Elmvale is the place to go. Cant finish your plate as it very full. Best breakfast around!

I wanted to try Cottage Canoe and take a few friends there with me, so I found their menu online. It had no prices, so Ive sent emails, and tried calling to find out this information before heading over to avoid any sticker shock. No replies, no return phone call, no nothing. Its hard to spend local and support local when the local business doesnt care to respond to a potential new customer.

I was asked to go to this restaurant to meet a friend. The waitress was great and the food was ok. I had a salad and she had soup.. I was asked if I wanted chicken added. I didn t ask how much it was to add it so I I m to blame too. Lesson learned. They charged me on top of my salad price 7.99 for a few pieces of sliced chicken so my salad lunch cost me over $40.. tip included -no alcohol just an ice tea.

Weve had breakfast at the Cottage Canoe in the past and it is always great. The atmosphere is really rustic and homey, if you have a muskoka feel in your blood.

In previous years this place was great. I d done in every so often and left happy. The past few times I went I ve had the same waitress with black hair, starts kind of pleasant then service from start to finish declines it s like she has blinders on and doesn t scan the restaurant to see what s going on at each table, caters to regulars and the men it s like every one else doesn t mean that much. I m recent times I ve ordered different things to try and see if it was a fluke that my food wasn t great or cold or something cooked not to my preference which I did specifically ask for to the waitress, however it ended the same each time and I was dissatisfied today I decided to try my fave dish again which is the eggs Benedict asked for soft poached eggs and soft bacon the eggs were like a rock inside I was one of 3 tables before the rush came I decided to just pay for my drink and leave. I was over it And I won t be back And I won t recommend this place Even if new kitchen staff and servers were hired, this multiple occurrence had left a bad taste in my mouth which is sad when it used to be so good

I have eaten here a couple times and this place has NEVER let me down. Food is excellent, service is bang on. A couple times Ive been there theyve had elderly regulars and they were treated like gold! I love seeing that. Its a place of comfort. Why are you still reading this? Shouldnt you be reading their menu? Go! Get!

I have a worst experience with them , no respect for courier people , we are 3 people waiting to collect order but no one even ask for order number and doing their gossips and when ask them to give me order and she is getting rude to me !! Very bad experience

Had breakfast here yesterday, food was excellent, however the service was lacking that day. After we were done our breakfast the plates were taken away and we were just sitting for at least 15 mins and no one returned with the bill. I had to go up to the counter and ask for it. I will give them another chance, could have just been a day they were short-staffed.

Had a build your own omelette with spinach and jalapeno peppers and home fries substituted the toast for tomato slices. Everything was good but I thought they were a little skimpy with the home fries. My friend had the chicken tacos which for the price was a huge portion.
