Best fish and chips I ve ever had bar none. Homemade coleslaw to die for. Halibut resembling chicken breast. White, meaty, juicy and delicious. Shelly the waitress was made of gold. A professional.

We have been going to Dannys for 20 years, even vack when they were in Stroud. Weve never been disappointed!! Halibut and chips is our go to , but the Haddock is delicious too. We love about an hour away now , and try to find a fish and chips where we are, but we alway end up back at Dannys when we ate in town. Grammas rice pudding is the best!!! Thank you!!

Really delicious and fresh fish and chips. The batter is perfect, not too much and not too bready. The fish itself has been perfectly cooked each time. The chips are tasty and definitely hit the spot, but for sure the fish is the main star. Also, the service is super friendly and they even answered a bunch of my stupid questions about the different types of fish.

We have tried every fish and chip place in Barrie and are always disappointed, because its not Dannys fish and chips!!! Seriously dont waste your money anywhere else also the only reason and lesson we learned dont order fish and chips on Sunday and Monday because Dannys is closed thamk you to all the staff there who are so nice and care about the food they put out.

Good as always been a regular since Stroud and Barrie. A good 16 yrs plus quiet today due to the civic weekend so service was super fast. Havent been here for a bit. Same friendly staff. They have removed some paintings but food still as good as before. Parking: Lots of parking but can get busy if that happens I park in the back. I went the other day, surprised that Danny s was gone but figured I d try it, and it was horrible. Such a waste of money. The fish itself was so thick, and so was the batter, and parts of the batter on the fish was not cooked at all and soggy. You could literally see the wet batter. Didn t feel good afterwards either, no wonder why. Won t ever go back.

Was visiting Barrie yesterday and looking for a good lunch spot. Fish was fresh & batter was light and crispy. We got both halibut and cod- Halibut was our fave. Also tried the shrimp and scallops which were also good. Staff was welcoming and intuitive with items on the menu we shouldn t have based on dietary restrictions. A good experience.

I waited for covid to be over so that I could get back to this great fish-and-chips we went on frodat night and the disappointment was unbelievable I dont know if they changed ownership but we walked in between 5 and 6 the place was half empty which Ive never seen and all the years we were going there the floors were so disgusting they looked like they hadnt been cleaned in in a week dirt mud grass all over the floors then we get the service and the menu is on paper placemats I was given a dirty one and I discovered later its because they take them back now we got 2 orders of halibut and chips 1 of them had a side of coal slaw and a Coke and it was $60 Absolutely outrageous for service by a bunch of kids dirty floors and a price that doesnt match everything we went for highly recpmmend staying away from here

I ve been eating Halibut chip all over Ontario for 50 years, my dad and I were in the trades and travelled all over, we always looked for fish and chips, back in the day it was always Halibut, my dad was from PEI and wouldn t eat anything but. We watch places come and go , it really is hard to find a place that does a good job. After all these years I consider myself a connoisseur of fine fish and chips. Danny s is as close to a 10 out of 10 as you can find, consider yourself lucky they are in your town. If it didn t snow so much there , I d move there for this place.

Has become way too expensive!! $23.99 for a plain halibut and fries. No drinks nothing included! $65 with tip for 2 people?! Not worth it. I can eat at Casa Mia upscale meal for less!! Better rethink before you see your business goes bye bye! Nobody buys the halibut is really expensive. Start taking less profits

OK I just had the best fish & chips of my 57 years. I consider myself a connoisseur of these things and Im totally impressed with Dannys! Now I have to bring my mother on a road trip to Barrie so she can enjoy them as well!

The best Fish & Chips restaurant in Barrie. Reasonably priced and the their Halibut is fresh and always cooked to perfection. They have a great takeout counter separate from the main restaurant that speeds up take out orders. Make sure you go around the back for take out orders.

I ve lived in Canada for 20 years and in that time I ve been searching for the holy grail of fish and chips. Being from England and growing up with the chippy culture I always been disappointed, that was until I discovered Danny s fish and chips. I can say without doubt they have the best fish and chips I ve tasted since being in Canada and I might add better than some I ve had back home.

Dannys has consistently delivered top quality food to me and my familly for years. Staff is very friendly and eager to please. Take out is on time. Dine is is very clean.

Dannys is a special treat for us!! The food is great and the family run restaurant has wonderful people to assist and serve. If you like fish, give it a try. Lots of other menu items are great too!! Right now (Jan/Feb 2022) the restaurant is undergoing some renovations, so take out pick up is being done at the back of the building.

Super happy with our meal, will absolutely be back again! We dined in and split the haddock with 1/2 fries and 1/2 salad, as well as the scallops and fries. Fish was very tender and the batter was light and crisp, fries, tartar sauce and gravy were really tasty. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was that the scallops were a bit wet which made the batter less crispy and the Caesar salad was also a bit wet so the dressing wasn t sticking.

Our first time. Excellent fish and chips. The fish was perfect, not to much batter and plenty of fish. The chips (french fries) were crispy and lots of them. Tarter sauce...mmmmmm. Service was friendly and prompt.

Always have thought the food was excellent but service not so much , I ordered 3 fish and a few fries , coleslaw and gravy I ask whats the best deal they said it works out to the same I picked up order paid 48.82 only to see the deal Friday is 4 haddock 3 fries 1 coleslaw for 55 plus tax, I mentioned this and the guy pretty much ignores my concern on how I asked about the deal and no one tells me and I would need to wait longer if I switched it

Worst fish and chips we have ever had. Have been there plenty of times over the years and always good. Not tonight though, ordered a family special which was supposed to include coleslaw but none was given to us. The fish and chips were way over cooked and it appeared they haven t changed their oil for too long. At that price we will go elsewhere next time.

Got the haddock trio combo which included one piece of haddock, 1/2 fries, 1/2 caesar salad. 1/2 fries is a lot of fries. Great taste for great value. Only thing I didnt like was that refills cost a dollar. Otherwise awesome.

The food was very good however the service was not so much. We had to ask repeatedly for items we had asked for (gravy, tarter sauce, extra coleslaw). Once we got everything, we were asked if we wanted anything else and we asked for a glass of water. It did not come until we asked again at the end of our meal.

For a Slice of Lemon for my Water. Its the principal at this point, not to mention that the coleslaw didnt come with the meal. And they charge you for that. 3 s is all they get!!

How much is the fee for a rescue?

Staff friendly and welcoming. Food a 5/10. The batter was good. Neither the fish or chips were seasoned with salt and no seasoning other than the tartare sauce we were offered was added to our take out bag. No utensils included, no napkins included either. Difficult to eat both our fish and coleslaw without a fork. Google search touted this establishment as one of the top 3 in Barrie. Would have to try the others time we pass through Barrie, so we can compare. Not that impressed.

As a UK ex Pat living in Winnipeg, our road trip to Niagara falls was certainly enhanced by a visit to Dannys. After seeing reviews we decided to give it a go, it did not disappoint. The first chip I ate really reminded me of good ole fish and chips in the UK Thanks Danny!

Recently in the last couple months they havent had their home made tarter sauce which is so disappointing :( I absolutely love it with my fish and chips. Giving a 3 hoping theyll read this comment and bring back the tarter sauce!!! As for the fish and chips, definitely a 5 ! Changed to 5 the tarter sauce is back!!

This F&C restaurant is in a location easy to find with lots of parking. It s clean, spacious and the staff are very pleasant. Fries are excellent, fish has light flaky batter and is cooked perfectly. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars being charged $1 for hot water. If a restaurant is charging for water they should at minimum advise you of the cost to avoid surprise when your bill arrives. At least I wasn t charged for condiment use :) Other than that one day I will return for more excellent fish and chips!
