If I could give it no stars, that s what this place would be getting. The worst food ever six of us went and five sent back their foods. The pop was absolutely flat and the beer was warm. I recommend not to come here. The band was awesome and it s too bad there was nobody there to watch the band. Rob Watts band rules.

I used to love the Philly brisket dip but lately it s gone down hill and really feels like they are cutting corners. It s just not the same. Hope they get it back :(

Really sub par food... BBQ burger was terrible, bacon was way overcooked and just overall tasteless. No cutlery or napkins included with my takeout order.. just a big failure all around. Had high expectations because its rated pretty good but obviously this place has changed hands and went downhill.

Should ve read the newest reviews first before coming. It seems like this place has had a change in ownership and quality has dipped. I had initially selected this place based on it star rating as I passed through town looking for lunch, but what I received was subpar. I got a brisket sandwich, which was extremely fatty and bland (the pickle had gave of the flavor) with a macaroni and cheese that quite frankly tasted and looked like it came in frozen prepared. Luckily it was on special so I didn t pay the full price, but I would never go back.

This restaurant used to have a bit of character with decent food and professional servers. The new owners have trashed everything about it. It is now a dirty dive bar with uncaring staff and terrible food. Don t bother with an AI generated fake response apology management, because you know you don t care. A shame really.

I am amazed that a restaurant can serve such shockingly bad food. The beet and arugula salad we ordered for $18 before taxes was made with defrosted arugula! Its mind-boggling that the person in the kitchen (I cant call them a chef) thought it was okay to serve that salad. The sumac chicken mains was weirdly sweet and came with an enormous mound of lumpy rice and lukewarm-cold limp vegetables. Both the rice and the vegetables felt like they were pulled out of a fridge and not even properly warmed - this after an over 30 minute wait for the food and the dish costing $24 before taxes. Upon bringing this to the attention of the two lady servers, who were excellent and were really trying to make good a terrible situation, we werent charged for the salad and thet took off $3 dollars from the chicken dish. Needless to say, we didnt stay back for dessert!

I had originally given this place 5 stars when it first opened but I was there not to long ago for some live music and the place has gone down hill. It seemed so dirty and disorganized I didn t end up ordering dinner, Friends of mine did though and it looked uneatable. It s a shame because it could have been a great place but unfortunately whoever took over this restaurant has let it become a dive.

Food was just ok - my tacos were very sloppy and not very good tasting. Service was absolutely terrible. Lots of staff but never checked on or could order more drinks. Our waitress disappeared. Had to ask for the check 3 times. We asked bartender to put on the Jays game and he gave us the remote and seemed to not care, said watch what you like.

Last night I was there and service, atmosphere all was good. It was quite busy at that time but also service was good.

An assault took place on the premises after staff served some patrons that were clearly drunk. Instead of doing diligence and calling first responders they let one of the patrons tossed the other out and tried to play it off like nothing happened. Also took the server 30 mins to an hour to get out bill so we could leave. Absolutely the worst, downtown Barrie is getting terrible but restaurants need to step and call the right ppl instead of trying to negate liability.

The incident that was taking place today was unexpected but handled in the best way possible. A very drunk guest came in and caused a scene by not paying the bill. Then, while being told to pay the bill started an altercation which then resulted in the drunk guest being removed from the premise. Thank god for one of the patrons who was there to help de-escalate the situation and help keep the staff, manager, and other guests safe.

The food is excellent, I had the cauliflower bites they were amazing. The staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is great. I would highly recommend checking out north country bar.

Bartender decided to serve two people clearly intoxicated or on drugs. Created a scene, another customer decided to take matters into his own hands and toss one of them, No police were called, staff had no idea what to do, manger did a horrible job handling the situation as well. Bartenders have 3 major duties, dont sell to the underaged, KNOW WHEN TO CUT SOMEONE OFF, Dont allow anyone to drink and drive. This establishment clearly failed with one of the easiest laws to control...

Such a great spot! Best brisket Ive had in a long time. Not to mention the service we received from Prince was 10/10! Will definitely be back.

Went for lunch on Friday and was very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the brisket and the service. Prince served us very well and was accommodating to our requests.

Went for drinks in a Friday night. Drinks were poorly made, I ordered an old fashioned that wasn t stirred and my wife ordered a 9oz class of wine that came in a carafe barely filled past the 6oz mark. When my wife asked them to fill it the bartender barely acknowledged her. We asked for our bill at closing time which we paid quickly however our drinks had taken so long to arrive that both of our drinks were still full as they closed. A guy who I assume is a manager (not our server) came to our table and told us that we needed to finish our drinks and leave because they were closing. We explained that we had paid our bill and would be leaving as soon as we finished our drink to which he said yea but we re closing so can you hurry up? Then just stood there arms crossed and stared at us (it was 5 minutes past closing time). I asked if he wanted us to chug our drinks that had just arrived and he said no then walked away. He then proceeded to stand at a distance and stare at us so we did end up chugging our drinks and leaving just to get away from him. Never going back. Not worth your time or money.

Honestly the patio looks cool but the inside of the restaurant does NOT feel like a country restaurant at all. Other than the music, nothing inside makes me feel like Im at a country theme restaurant. Felt more like an Indian restaurant like example with gold trimmings behind the bar. It was all just too modern. The brisket sandwich was good, the bar drinks were only ok, and while the waitress was really very nice she lacked some etiquette. Although I know how hard it is to serve / find good service nowadays so I really wont knock her for it. Probably next time Id order take out.

Probably the worst meal Ive had in years. We ordered the brisket sandwich, and the smoked goat cheese bruschetta. Our waitress was pretty good so my review does not reflect the level of service. The sandwich was quite literally just fat on a bun. The smoked goat cheese bruschetta was not smoked, and just cheese, halved tomatoes (some were kind of rotten which is surprising given the season!l) and balsamic vinegar. We complained about our meal and received a 3 dollar discount which we found unsatisfactory. Complaints to the manager (in his words the closest thing we have to a manager were met with being told to call the owners for your free food, you losers. Lol. I have never ever left a bad review for a restaurant (see my Google review history!) But the horrible management at this restaurant and the disgusting food will have us calling both the owners and the health unit. They were also serving a clearly intoxicated woman, who was singing loudly about how drunk she was. Very disruptive as she was at the table next to us and had her feet kicked up which was pretty gross.

Rant time Tonight I came into what use to be one of my favorite places in barrie for live music, friends and service. As a waitress came over to the table she asked if I had been help I said NO I have waited an hour for a waitress to come over to my table just to get a food menu and then to order a pop. It then took close to another 30 minutes for the waitress to come see what I wanted to order. As the waitress came over to the table the band was playing so she couldnt hear me order, asked her to come back when the band takes a break and then she didnt come back a different waitress finally came over to see if I wanted to get food 15 minutes later. I explained that this happens everytime I am in here and its ridiculous and unprofessional and all I get is so sorry. I am not one to normally talk down about business but the restaurant I am talking about is NORTH COUNTRY BBQ and everyone knows where it is. You guys can do better. End rant

The workers are very kind, and your order comes out pretty fast with a really cozy atmosphere, and the food is the best ever. I highly recommend this place

North Country catered the food for a country themed bachelorette night and the food was fresh, authentic and AMAZING. Pulled pork sliders, coleslaw, mac and cheese, baked beans and corn bread were all cooked and packaged up perfectly to be transported to the cottage and re-heated. Vishal was amazing to work with recommending portions and items for the group size and theme and the prices were extremely reasonable. Service was great, calling to confirm all details before pickup and everything ready on time and so well organized with packaging and reheating instructions. Have been dreaming of the food since I ate it and will definitely be going back! Dietary restrictions: Gluten Free accommodations and substitutions

Was not really sure what to order , the chef and manny told me what would be the best for me and later ordered cauliflower bites and it s the best thing I have tried in so long . I asked them to put the soccer game and they did nothing about it. The food was below average and we didnt get one of the orthers at all. The service was the worst. We asked for drinks more than 20 times to just get one drink. The food was served for 1/3 of us and then the second 1/3. No response from the servers and they kept forgetting lots of things.

An obvious change of management and was hard to find something good to write about, a simple margarita was made terrible (couldn t take more than 2 sips), also bartender girl was visually seen licking one of the juices to check the flavour then pours in the drink. Food was below average for the prices too was ridiculous. Service was backwards and unorganized, was asked several times from different servers the same questions. Also warm beer ! Don t be fooled by any recent reviews obviously look fake and asked to be written by the owners close friends.

We didnt have a chance to try the food.But the menu did look very appetizing, They had a live band there.Which sounded amazing, especially when you sat out on the patio, where you could still have a conversation.But hear really good music, I must say, though the service. Felt really off due to the fact of the manager (Im assuming) As well as his staff constantly staring at us.As we sat and enjoyed our drinks... Then, near the end of the night, the manager, he brought one of the employees out sat behind our table and had a big fight as we again try to enjoy your night out... Theres a time and place....

Aasta is the best waitress in this place, she was so kind and helpful in directing us to the point of what we wanted, with no rush, so polite, please have her promoted as she really deserves it, The atmosphere and food are awesome! Keep it up Aasta! Good for you

I was there on 13th July, Saturday with my husband and I had a wonderful experience over there, our server Monica was very friendly and sweet. Monica provided exceptional service during my recent dining experience. From the moment we arrived, she greeted us warmly and ensured we were comfortably seated. Throughout the meal, Monica was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, offering great recommendations and promptly catering to our requests. Her friendly demeanor and professionalism made the dining experience enjoyable and memorable. Monicas attention to detail and excellent service truly elevated our visit, and I look forward to returning thanks to her wonderful hospitality.

Our event was a small, yet somewhat challenging, family reunion. From the time the reservation was made until the end of our evening, I cannot say enough about the positivity, professionalism, and patience of the staff. They are superb. Thank you so much. We are quite disappointed with the recent experience weve had with North Country. We had a small wedding party on Monday July 15th, and called to make a reservation over the phone a few months prior to our event date to make sure they could accommodate 12 of us for dinner. The reservation was scheduled and confirmed over the phone. Well, we arrived on Monday July 15th at 6pm for our reservation, only to find that the doors were locked and the lights were off. No hours or signage posted on the door to notify guests of their unexpected closure. Current Google Hours: Thursday 11 a.m. 11 p.m. Friday 11 a.m. 1 a.m. Saturday 11 a.m. 1 a.m. Sunday 11 a.m. 11 p.m. Monday 11 a.m. 11 p.m. Tuesday 11 a.m. 9 p.m. Wednesday 11 a.m. 11 p.m. We called to try and get a hold of someone, and it went to voicemail which confirmed their opening hours for the 15th, but yet no one was there. I left a voicemail for them that evening, giving them the opportunity to try to make things right before I left this review, but it has been 3 days and we have received no call back. This being said, be advised, their voicemail hours, google hours and website hours are all different. Even when you make a confirmed reservation they drop the ball.

Absolutely awful experience eating dinner last night. We went early for a show, waited half an hour to get served, the server didn t bring half of what I asked & never came by for the bill ever. We ended up ASKING to settle up at the bar 2 hours later because our server was clueless. During the show it was insanely chaotic; the bartenders had NO idea what they were doing & ended up charging me $12 twice for the same beer; the only reason I paid was because the bartender wouldn t take no for an answer. The change from the first beer was still on the bar, that he literally just put down. I m very convinced they were giving away free beers & putting the tab on whoever could be manipulated into paying it; my buddy ended up having to pay over a $100 tab when he swore he only had 3 beers. This restaurant is the truly most disorganized place I ve ever stepped foot into. I honestly can t tell you who s worse: the management, the bartenders or the servers. Never stepping foot back in here again & I would never recommend this place to anyone. I won t be susprised to see this place go down in a year or two. Otherwise, the bands were incredible

I had a fantastic dining experience at North Country Restaurant! Everything was great, from the warm ambiance to the delicious food. Our server, Devi, was exceptionally friendly and made excellent recommendations. I opted for the brisket dinner with fries and au jus, and it was truly delicious. The brisket was tender and flavorful, and the fries were perfectly crispy. I will definitely be recommending this place to others!

This doesn t feel like a country bar anymore, I m giving 5 stars for how nice the staff are but 1 for everything else. Also why would you change the style of the bar? It look horrible.

North Country has great beer, wings & piña coladas! The go-to spot on a hot summer day. If you re in Barrie, go to North Country BBQ for dinner (chicken & waffles are delicious here) and drinks. There is also live entertainment and spacious seating, indoors and out.

I hadnt been here in a few years but always loved the brisket sandwich. We happened to be passing through Barrie and I suggested we stop in for the brisket sandwich. The sandwich is even better now than it used to be...The portions are huge. The brisket was cooked perfectly, flavourful and tender. We had the mac and cheese on the side which was also delicious. I found out that the ownership changed. We met the new owner who was super nice. All the staff treated us well. One suggestion, the menu doesnt mention the crispy onions in the description for the sandwich. I recommend adding that in the description because they are a key feature to the sandwich and add so much flavour. When we pass through Barrie again, we will be back!

This place is terrible. My wife and I went there for date night. We ordered the rib and wing platter. My wife ordered a mojito. I tried to order a margarita but decided not to after they confessed it was mix. The wings were overdone and the ribs were so overdone we couldn t eat them. The manager came and apologized and gave us $7.00 discount on our bill. Oh ya they also forgot my wife s mojito. This is the last time we will go here.

Not what it used to be. Kids menus which were coloring pages were used by other kids. Service was awful, waited 10-15 for kids drinks after getting adult drinks. Salsa was charged $2.50 to mask weird tasting cheese and took 10mins. Not going back.

i have been going to north country since it opened however long ago, but ever since it changed ownership the place is not the same. it is going way down hill. the food is not what it used to be, the service is not what it used to be and the atmosphere is dead and its like no one wants to be there. my drink came with fruit flies though so the added protein is okay i guess.

Super friendly staff!! Feels more welcoming than some other restaurants on Dunlop that we frequent. The brisket was tender and not over seasoned. Tortillas were perfect texture and didnt fall apart. The house hot sauces were delicious. We were all very impressed with everything we ate. Prices are fair. All the staff appeared happy and smiling. We will return for sure.

The menu has been changed entirely within the last 2 yrs .. and it is HIGHLY DISAPPOINTING! Everything seems to be fried and tasteless on the menu .. the salads and the entrees arent the same anymore.. The smoked cauliflower I raved about 2 yrs back in my review does not exist anymore neither does the salad.

I went to North country today and everything was amazing. There was a live band going on. Food was vey delicious and service was also up to the mark. All the staffs were very friendly. We were served by Monika and she was very friendly and co- operative. Will visit again soon.

I have to give it 5 stars across the board. This is my kind of place. Great vibe in there. The food is great. I got the Nashville chicken sandwich but sometimes I cant handle spicy so they swapped out the sauce for the lemon pepper seasoning. Maybe my new favorite sandwich. Live Music. Great bartenders. I don t often write reviews but wanted to for this. Never even heard of this restaurant before but we were looking for a good BBQ place in Barrie area and the place we used to go to has had some not so great reviews lately so we didn t really want to go there. We were celebrating a birthday and wanted to make sure we had a great experience and had some delicious food from a clean, proper restaurant. I called in first to ask about some questions and they were very helpful. Then we placed an order for pick-up and got great customer service. Went downtown to pick it up and saw the inside of the restaurant it was clean and welcoming. Beautiful outdoor space we plan to enjoy one time when we dine-in. They had the food ready in under a half hour, and it was still yummy when we got home about 20 minutes later. We had the NC signature BBQ platter and the kids got some burgers and salads and everything was SO GOOD. It was a great experience and we are definitely looking forward to going back. I wrote this review because we really appreciated the reviews we read that helped us feel confident choosing this restaurant on such an important day. Thank you!!

The patio is really nice, we ordered the wings (lemon pepper) they seemed to be a little undercooked so had a weird taste, we didnt finish them. The smoked jalapeno and cheddar dip is sooo good!!! The brisket tacos and nashville hot chicken sandwich were both good!

Poor service and food quality quantity was horrible. When a couple goes out for dinner the idea us to get their meal to enjoy together not serve 1 and expect the other to wait. Do not order side chicken foe your Ceasar as you may only receive a few pieces of dried up chicken I almost wonder if it was leftover from someone elses meal. Truly disappointed

Atmosphere and service are good! We tried the Taco Salad with Brisket which tasted good and was a good portion size. We also had the Ribs and Wings entree with substitutions for the keto diet, although it only comes with 4 wings. Overall, a good atmosphere and a nice place to meet with firends to have dinner!

Hands down the best brisket Ive had till date. Its the perfect balance of umami, meaty, and the spice rub true masterpiece. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Youve got to try their bbq platters well out worldly Plus the atmosphere with the amazing music adds to the overall experience. Definitely a must-visit!

The quality has gone down significantly at this place. Before the ribs and brisket were super soft, full of flavour, and juicy but now the food was bland, tough, and cold. I could barely cut into the ribs let alone chew it and they had no flavour at all. The meat and cornbread were both dry. Really sad to see the quality of the place slip so badly

I want to start by saying I have nothing against this place, the food or service...this is just an honest review of a mediocre place. We went on Sunday afternoon for lunch. The two servers that were there were not very well versed in the menu, or any of the drinks. I had a few questions about some of the beers on the menu (local? type? draft or can?) and the server knew nothing except craft beer which is an opportunity lost for them. The was overpriced for the quality and quantity....I spent $5 to upgrade the fries with my sandwich to a poutine and I got a tiny bowl with 20 fries, 4 sad pieces of cheese and salty gravy. Sandwiches and burgers were just ok. We ordered dessert, given wooden spoons because they didnt know where the metal ones were or didnt have them. This place is in a PRIME location and could really be a good spot but for a BBQ joint, theyre just not doing it right. They really need to check out some other BBQ places to see what they do and how they do it before calling this a BBQ place. Or, they could just make it a Made in Mexico again which was awesome!

Absolutely incredible dining experience. The food was delicious and very well-priced. The portion sizes were huge and filling. We had the pasta options and they were all amazing. The interior decor and vibe was lovely. The best part was the customer service, the servers and staff were very friendly and patient, and went above and beyond to make everyone happy. Near the end of the dinner, the staff found out it was my birthday, and they wrote me a card, played birthday music, and gave me a complimentary dessert. I have never had a better dining experience and would HIGHLY RECOMMEND going here. Delicious food with outstanding service in a lovely environment! Thank you so much to Malkit and the staff for making my stay in Barrie unforgettable!

My husband and I took our 2 year old out for dinner and had a great time! We had the rib and wing combo, the brisket tacos and kids Mac and cheese. We went home with leftovers! Our son was gifted a toy car which kept him busy throughout the rest of the meal and the staff was so kind as to pick up the toys he threw several times. We highly recommend North Country BBQ.

The ambiance is really good, i celebrated my birthday and it was one of my best birthdays, all staff sang a song for me , treated me and my frds so well, the staff was so polite and kind , they served a cake to me .

This place changed their menu and it used to be so much better. Its hard for me to eat here now because I know what it used to be like. They also charged me for my soda water refills... Not sure its worth the money to come here anymore when theres a lot better food and prices down the street.

I came here with some of my friends and family, I was not disappointed! The food was amazing with good portion sizes and its clear the kitchen staff take care in their food. We also got to experience some live music which creates a great atmosphere that we enjoyed while at the bar. The serving staff were nice and the owner is a very nice man who obviously cares about his restaurant and his customers. Im looking forward to eating there again soon as I cant wait to try more menu options, the nachos were amazing last time!

We had a great time at North Country tonight. We had drinks to celebrate our friend s birthday. They tasted great and were priced right. There was a live band on tonight that was playing great music! We didn t eat tonight but do plan to come back because the menu looked great. Thank you for making my friend s birthday a memorable one.

Our server took our order but we never got our food. It took over a half hour to get our drinks we had to ask many times. Other tables we being served but our table had the worst service I had ever experienced. The hostess, who is not a server ended up taking care of our table. She was amazing and it was her last night at this establishment. Management needs to step it up and actually help the staff rather than stand there with a pen and paper in his hand. We are not rude people, we respect servers and establishments as we know how hard they work. This is the worst experience ever. Staff walked out that night. Change the manager, add capable staff, treat your staff with respect, make it a healthy, happy environment for your staff and they will produce.

Wow, first time going back in over a year now in 2024 and had a horrible experience. They changed the menu so my original order is now non existent. Got a selection of items on the menu and all of them were trash including the brisket. Only good item was the pulled pork tacos. On top of that it took close to an hour for our server to even come to our table. Then waited a long time on top of that for our disappointing food to arrive. Its gone down hill, I would recommend not eating here.

Visited NC with a friend of mine a few days back and the food there was just delicious, i don t usually eat calamari but the server suggested I try it and i absolutely loved it, there are no greater words to say about the service, recommended to more of my friends and they had nothing but wonderful things to say about the place. The person who manages the place is super nice and passionate about everything related to the place. Can t wait to go again.

With it being my first time here, I m very disappointed. The service was not good. The menu ingredients is wrong. My mom and I ordered the NC nachos as in the menu it didn t indicate it came with peppers on it (as I am allergic). The nachos came and it s coated in red peppers. I ordered the north country burger, it said it came with pickles on it it had cucumber on it. 1 star for their music though. Place was bumpin with some good tunes.

Great food. Staff tried their hardest with a full house of patrons and were very pleasant. Very very loud atmosphere. Couldnt hear my wife sitting across from me. A few birthday parties going on and they decided they owned the restaurant as their own. Talking,,,,,yelling not having the common decency that others were there to enjoy a meal. Not the restaurants fault but as the parties got louder the music got louder as well. Will not return.

I went here with my friends a few hours back, the place was packed with crowd and parties, however i have no complaints. I got my drinks on time, the food was to die for. The service and atmosphere was perfect and the staff made sure they were adhering to our needs even in the crowd. Would definitely go there with my friends.

The staff and the manager were so accommodating, me and my friend went there today and we had so many questions about the menu, since it was my first time there but the server was super kind and she recommended us really nice entrees. The brownie sundae was my favorite. Really good, definitely gonna visit.

Great music and food

Came here tonight with my two children and wife. They had a special Thursdays for buy one draft get one free. Fantastic value. My wife ordered the burger and I had the chicken sandwich with Caesar salad. All food was fresh and served fast. Kids enjoyed their corn dog and ice cream. The manager came by and gave the kids a treat and was encouraging their drawing. The customer service was lovely and we had a great time at dinner. Would recommend this place to any families looking for something local especially once patio season is upon us.

We went for lunch last Saturday and there were 8 other people in the restaurant and one server. The young lady was very sweet, however I don t think she was at this job very long and it appeared she was the only one in the restaurant, beside the cook. We tried to order two glasses of white wine and she said: I don t think we have any and when we asked her to double check she told us they had Trius. Wasn t sure what kind of white wine it was, so she went to look again and then brought red. When we explained we would like white, she said they were out. We placed our order and the Cranberry Focaccia Club sandwiches were very good, however pricey for the small size. The salad came with hardly any dressing and we asked our waitress to please get more. After 15 minutes another waitress came to work and we asked her to get the dressing and she did immediately. Perhaps this is not normal for this restaurant, however I wont be back

My daughter celebrated her 6th birthday today and chose NC as her dinner place and we could not have had a better night! They had decorations up by our table and she was truly treated like a princess from the moment we walked in until we left. Would highly recommend! Great food, great company, great service. : ) thanks again! Kid-friendliness: So attentive to our littles whether it was a cup of water or colouring and putting their artwork up in the wall. They made our girl feel sooo special!

Very welcoming staff . Me and my fiancé travelled from Halifax,NS and decided to go out on the town and when we visited North Country we were treated like family. The owner and staff took extra care of us and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Highly recommended country bar!

GREAT service, amazing and welcoming staff- constantly checking in to make sure all is well. Visiting Barrie from out of province, stopped into a few restaurants that were mediocre but nothing compared to the staff & atmosphere here! We mentioned were visiting Barrie and they made sure we had the best experience and felt the most comfortable we ve ever felt. Highly recommend, they will go above and beyond to make sure you re satisfied and well taken care of. The jalapeño and red pepper cream cheese dip is to die for, I promise you will NOT regret it. :)

Honestly super disappointed. I visited very often last summer and always had an amazing experiences. My past 6 visits this year have been nothing less than absolutely horrible. I didn t recognize one staff member that had previously been working here and the service , atmosphere and food were mediocre. So many options on Dunlop street and north country was my go too but I can t say I d ever go again.

After waiting 40min for drinks when the bar was basically empty and seeing a guy passed out drunk on the bar this place really isn t the best place to celebrate or come to.

Worst food. I have ate at so many bar and grill places however this place serve the worst food in taste wise. We have ordered burgers, pasta, and Nachos. None of them taste good. Burger was tasteless, pasta was too sweet, and Nachos was bitter.

Food couldnt be better - all of our meals were incredible! I got the brisket tacos and WOW just fantastic! Perfect portion sizes as well. The only thing I was disappointed with was the service - didnt ask how our food was and we had to wait two hours for our bill - we were one of 3 tables in the restaurant :/ I dont know if this is a restaurant where you go up to pay, but considering how dead it was, I would have appreciated a bit more service than our waiter doing his closing activities back and forth in front of us over asking if we needed anything else etc.

Had a great late lunch at approximately 3:30 PM. Atmosphere was relatively quiet given the time, and we were seated immediately. Enjoyed a beef brisket dip with a side of brisket chilli (large portion!), followed by a banana pudding. Would definitely return to try more of the menu!

This place is awful! We went because we heard there was live music, but nope, we were told they are thinking about it. On the menu is says live music on Fridays. The service was the worst I ve ever experienced. We had to ask for items several times, each item came out wrong. More than once! We asked the waitress if we could order and she said oh, you want to order? . There was no one in the place on a Friday night. And for a country place they should likely play more than just one Chris Stapleton album on repeat the whole time. Save your money, go some where with servers who know they are supposed to take orders.

Get the brisket, not the margarita.

Unfortunately the decor is misleading. An establishment wherein the bar cannot mix an old fashioned and the kitchen microwaves the brisket so that the waiter may tell you I cut it right off the thing. Its a shame I took sometime off a Saturday night for this embarrassment.

I m sad to write this because North country has been one of our favourite restaurants. We made a reservation for 5:30 PM and showed up at the time allotted. No one spoke to us for almost 10 minutes, and when we asked about our reservation on the patio, nothing was prepared and they had to go find a table and chairs to set up for us. We then proceeded to order drinks and an appetizer our drinks came and we ordered food. The appetizer didn t show up for over half an hour although a table seated next to us who arrived after us were already finished their appetizer before ours came. Once we had been there an hour and our food still hadn t come, we cancelled our food order, paid for our drinks and appetizers and left. Worst service ever!

This place was amazing. I feel like the food there was way higher quality than you would expect for the price point and location. Large outdoor patio, open and spacious. It was funny because we asked if its open but the hostess said no...but if you dont mind potential chairs being moved around, then its open! I was so happy as it was beautiful out and a perfect patio day. Put this place on your yes summer list of patio destinations to try outside the city. Our waitress/hostess/bartender was a superstar. She was quick and friendly. We had such a great time. And dont get me started on the food. I cant believe this place! Anywhere else, just based on portions alone would have been over $100, but for $60 for two, we had a fiest with apps, and mains, and pop. For example, our order of fried cauliflower was da bomb and came with enough to share for 4 people. We had tacos, salad, chicken sandwich, fries too and all was prepared well and delicious. Chicken sandwich was moist and full of flavours, so were the tacos.. done right. Fries were also very good. Super great location. Pretty central to all the shops. The inside decor was relaxing and nice too..I almost wanted to stay and order dessert just to hang out there. The booths inside looked comfy, inviting and spacious place so you dont feel crammed in anywhere. And when I was leaving, the busy waitress wished us a nice day and thanked us in the warmest way. Food and service were very good. Worth trying for sure. Wish they had a smaller BBQ platter for two to share. Patio was noisy though (sirens and vehicles) and plastic tables and chairs not that comfortable.

This place serves spot on Southern BBQ, with special kudos for their brisket. Reminds me of the BBQ joints in Texas. Also, IMHO, the crispiest, most delicious fries and onion rings in Barrie. Wine list is OK for a restaurant that specializes in BBQ. However, bottles are 1/2 price on Thursdays. I can t comment on desserts since I ve never had enough room to sample them due to the generous mains. Parking: Street parking free after 5 on weekdays and free all day on weekends.

Came here with a group of 8 and were accommodated quickly which was nice. The drinks weren t great, beer was flat, my mojito tasted like soda water with a hint of lime. The waitress brought out a completely different beer for my friend than what he ordered and said it was the beer he ordered then backtracked and said they didn t have it but it was the same type of beer (was not). The food was good. Price wise it was decent. Overall, I think it was the service that was scattered.

Ordered the full rack and wings platter with coleslaw, and it was perfect for 2. I am in love with the Nashville hot sauce its so good I couldnt get enough perfect balance of heat and tangy zest...ummmm! Ribs were great and easily pulled apart, the wings were dusted with Cajun. Our server was great as well!

Service was a little slow, food was good and atmosphere was awesome. Sat outside in the patio which puts you right on 5 points in Barrie. Other than an occasional roasting motorcycle it was a great spot.

Mat is the best server at this place. He has been there since day 1. Very hard worker. The rest of the servers are fantastic as well. Always going above and beyond. The brisket nachos are DELISH. Best place in Barrie hands down.

Ordered a $19 Beef brisket sandwich to go which I was charged $25.47. So I was charged a $4 gratuity since HST & GST (13%) The bill should have been $21.47. Tipped $5 extra and they said nothing. $ 30.00 for one sandwich which had so much butter on the bread it drowned out the brisket flavor with no sides & no service. Be careful these people are not honest.

This is one of my fav restaurants in Barrie! Nice size patio! Great sangria! They have a new menu too with more options then before!! Delicious taco bowl salad! Creative dishes such as the spaghetti & Brisket meatballs! Service is always on point.

I went there Saturday night, no one helped us to find a table so we sit in the patio. The three girls who attended to us did so reluctantly. When the food came they didnt even bring us napkins and utensils. In relation to price and quality of the food it was not bad.

A higher review may have been given if it weren t for the manager intervention . Our service was not awesome. She was friendly and pleasant but did not check on us regularly, had to be flagged down, and did not clear dishes, bottles etc. Food was okay. Calamari tasty. Cowboy Caviar tasteless. It was quiet and we were a group of 5 celebrating my daughter s birthday. 4 early 20s and me. Server was leaving and we agreed to settle the bill for her departure. I paid $100 on the $130 bill via debit. The kids were to settle the rest plus tip. One paid remainder of bill plus $4 tip. The others were going to leave cash tip on table. Bill fold was not collected. Within minutes of payment, The manager came to the table and asked what the problem was because we left $4 on $130 tab. I explained we haven t left yet and bill wasn t fully settled yet. She persisted for a further explanation. I said service was friendly but not great and that we were still finishing our beverages and hadn t been given an opportunity to fully settle the tab. The timing of payment by debit to manager approach was maximum 10 minutes. Bill fold was still on the table. Server and manager did not know if tip was inside as they never picked it up. The experience left us feeling uncomfortable and pressured. We observed manager lecturing server at the bar in plain view of clientele. We saw server leave upset. Her tip was still on our table in the bill fold never collected.

My 2 daughters & myself absolutely enjoyed our experience here yesterday. We ate out on the spacious patio & had the best server.Thank you Kat for helping me decide on the cranberry chickens club sandwich. It was as delicious as you described. My daughters split fish tacos & poutine & said it could not have been better. We started out with mouth watering cauliflower wings. Between Kat, our delightful server, the awesome atmosphere & incredibly delicious food, we absolutely will return.

My sister cousin and I went here for dinner on august 2nd. We had the absolute worst customer service experience we ve ever had. Our waiter Ryan was incredibly rude, would bring the food to the table and slam it down walk away and was apparently frustrated with us because we asked for a side of jalapeños after he delivered our food. Then charged each one of us 2$ for a side of jalapeños when we only relieved one and spent approx 15-20 minutes yelling at us all saying that he ll pull up the cameras and go get the people from the kitchen to come out and tell us we re the ones lying about how many he brought out. He then began to antagonize my sister and threatened her by saying he knows her boss ( she s a waitress too) and tried to act as if he will get her in trouble for arguing about the extra charge. He was extremely unprofessional. We asked for the manager and the manager gave us a 5$ gift card for the inconvenience and was super unhelpful. Honestly would never go back, and really have nothing nice to say about the way they treat their customers. Extremely embarrassing.

We came here after going to an event catered by North Country and being really impressed by the food. This time around, we were not disappointed! The Brisket Dinner and Brisket Beef Dip were both amazing and melt-in-your-mouth . We upgraded both sides to a Mac & Cheese which I totally recommend. The two caveats I will mention is that I found the sandwich to be a little too salty with the jus dip, and the North Country beer on tap not being that impressive. They offer a house hot sauce for an extra $1 or they will give you a bottle of Tabasco free of charge, which is nice. I loved the country themed decor and tunes. We came here on a quiet Sunday evening and found it very relaxing and charming. Our server was attentive and kind.

ordered the fish n chips friday special, was amazing brought me right back to my time on the coast. But the service alone is what really sold the experience, my server Kat went above and beyond to make sure I was well taken care of. Will definitely be back soon

A country style bbq with a modestly sized menu, but really good food. Ordered the nachos with brisket and it was fantastic. The service was pretty great and overall not too busy on average. The drinks were not the greatest, but the food and service made up for that. This place is a great spot to go with friends if you like bbq meats and even has some tasty vegetarian options (my friend did the cauliflower bites and said they are good)

Let me start by saying that we have ate here and ordered from here very many times in the past. Today we ordered some food for dinner. When the food arrived and we opened the $11.00 side order sweet potato fries and the $9.00 add chicken breast we were shocked how small the portions were for the price. Especially since we never ran into this issue with past orders. The side of fries... not on the side of a burger or something, but a hole entire side of fries filled less than half of a small takeout container. If we got this as a side dish to a main dish that would be acceptable, but not as a solo side order. The chicken breast was comical and looking back I wish we weighed it because this thing was tiny. Im talking small, like a tiny Quail breast . Called the restaurant to let them know because there was obviously a lack of quality control and a lady answered the phone with every excuse under the sun. She was very rude, constantly talking over me and interrupting when I was trying to explain my issues. She spoke to me in a very condescending manner and kept referring to me as hun and hunni multiple times which is extremely unprofessional as a supposed manager. We have had issues like this in the past at other restaurants and when calling the restaurant they were instantly extremely apologetic and willing to do whatever they could to make things better. This is definitely a first, having an issue and being made to feel like its our fault and like we are sh!t out of luck!

5 on 5 for Ambience. I visited Barrie at fiends place and went to this place with friends and family for spending good time and enjoy the time. I highly recommend BBQ platter - good in portion, Yummy in taste. Good music and seems best place to chill out. Highly recommend to those who are coming from GTA and feel the difference and vibe Repeat for sure.

North Country does what so many other businesses at the 5 points failed to realize - when you are located right in the heart of the city there is no need to have gimmicky foods or a wide menu - just serve good food and drinks at a good price and you wont drive business away. They even have their own beer, Its a bit like Modelo or Corona!

We ate here a few times. Today I got cold chicken on my salad. Was charged extra $8 + tax for hot sauce & 3 other sauces For fries! They insisted they saw the chicken come out of the grill but charged me for sauce? That s a first. This would be fine but she should have told me that they charge for it. Did they always charge for sauce??? What kind of cheap stingy nonsense is this?? The chicken portion was tiny, too!!

The brisket is awesome!

Ordered a whole brisket with sides for a party. The brisket was amazing and the sides were really good too. I would highly recommend it. The staff was super helpful and very friendly.
